Description

Title of the invention: Stator for axial flux electric machine, associated machine, vehicle and method

[0001] The present invention relates to axial flux rotating electrical machines.

[0002] The present invention relates more particularly to a stator for a machine axial flux rotating electric stator, a rotating electric machine comprising such a stator, a motor vehicle comprising such a machine, and a method for obtaining such a stator.

[0003] A hybrid or electric motor vehicle may include an axial flux rotating electric machine.

[0004] It is known to glue stator teeth onto a stator yoke to produce an axial flux electromagnetic machine.

[0005] However, the use of glue is restrictive.

[0006] The glue needs to be placed in sufficient quantity on predetermined areas of the teeth and the cylinder head.

[0007] Furthermore, the assembly formed by the teeth glued to the cylinder head needs to be heated in an oven to harden the glue.

[0008] Alternatively, the glue is formed from two components making it more difficult to bond the teeth to the cylinder head.

[0009] Document WO2017 / 121941 discloses a stator for an axial flux electromagnetic machine.

[0010] The crown-shaped stator is formed of unit portions in contact with each other, each unit portion comprising a core around which a stator coil is wound.

[0011] The stator further comprises a support member comprising dovetails.

[0012] The unitary portions comprise recesses cooperating with the dovetails to secure the unitary portions to the support member.

[0013] The recesses cooperate with the dovetails so that the unit portions are slid onto the support member in a radial direction of the stator and fixed radially onto the support member by gluing or welding.

[0014] Furthermore, it is necessary to machine the support member and secure it to a stator casing.

[0015] Furthermore, if the support member is integrated into the stator casing, it is impossible to insert the unit portions onto the support member when the periphery of the stator has a rim covering the support member.

[0016] According to another embodiment, the support member comprises grooves and the unitary portions comprise tongues cooperating with the grooves to secure the unitary portions to the support member.

[0017] The unitary portions are secured to the support member by gluing or welding, making the production of the stator more complex.

[0018] Furthermore, since the unit portions are assembled in the recesses or grooves, stresses likely to damage the stator may appear in the stator elements following the assembly of the unit portions on the support member.

[0019] It is therefore proposed to overcome all or part of the disadvantages of the stators of axial flux electromagnetic machines according to the state of the art.

[0020] In view of the above, the invention relates to a stator for an axial flux rotating electrical machine, comprising an annular yoke, stator teeth, and shims covering the yoke and separating two adjacent stator teeth, first means for securing a first face of the shims to the yoke, and second means for securing a second face of the stator teeth to the shims or the yoke.

[0021] The first securing means are configured so that the shims are inserted into the yoke in an axial direction of the stator, the shims, the stator teeth, the first and second securing means being further configured so that following the application of a radial force on at least each shim in a direction oriented towards the center of the stator, the shims are fixed to the yoke and the stator teeth are fixed by the second securing means on the shims or the yoke.

[0022] Preferably, each shim comprises on the first face a dovetail extending in a radial or substantially radial direction of the stator and the yoke comprises as many grooves as there are dovetails, each groove extending in a radial or substantially radial direction of the stator and cooperating with the corresponding dovetail so that the dovetail is inserted in the axial direction with play in the groove, and so that following the application of the radial force on the shim, the dovetail translates in said direction in the groove and locks in the groove to fix the shim to the yoke when said shim is immobilized by adjacent shims or adjacent stator teeth, the first securing means being formed by the dovetails cooperating with the grooves.

[0023] Advantageously, each shim further comprises on said first face a second dovetail extending in a radial or substantially radial direction of the stator and identical to the dovetail, and the yoke further comprises as many second grooves which are identical to the groove as second dovetails and extending in a radial or substantially radial direction of the stator, each second dovetail cooperating with the corresponding second groove so that the second dovetail is inserted in the axial direction with clearance in the second groove, and following the application of the radial force on the shim, the second dovetail translates in said direction in the second groove and locks in the second groove to fix the shim to the yoke when said shim is immobilized by adjacent shims or adjacent stator teeth, the first securing means being further formed by the second dovetails cooperating with the second grooves.

[0024] Preferably, each shim comprises two recesses on a third face opposite the first face and respectively on one of the two lateral faces, each recess extending in a radial direction of the stator, the adjacent recesses of two adjacent shims forming a third groove, and each stator tooth comprises on the second face a third dovetail extending in a radial direction of the stator and cooperating with the third groove having a section identical to the section of the third dovetail so that when the shims are fixed to the yoke, the third dovetail is blocked in the third groove, the second securing means being formed by the third dovetails cooperating with the third grooves.

[0025] Advantageously, each stator tooth comprises on the second face a fourth dovetail extending in a radial or substantially radial direction of the stator and the yoke comprises as many fourth grooves as there are fourth dovetails, each fourth groove extending in a radial or substantially radial direction of the stator and cooperating with the fourth dovetail so that the fourth dovetail is inserted in the axial direction with a clearance in the fourth groove and following the application of the radial force on the shim and the stator tooth, the fourth dovetail translates in said direction in the fourth groove and is locked in the fourth groove to fix the stator tooth to the yoke when said tooth is immobilized by adjacent shims, the second securing means being formed by the fourth dovetails cooperating with the fourth grooves, the lateral force applied to the shims being identical.

[0026] Preferably, the ends of the teeth opposite the second faces of said teeth are connected by a guide.

[0027] Advantageously, the yoke and / or the teeth comprise a stack of sheets of soft magnetic material or soft magnetic composite material.

[0028] The invention also relates to an axial flux rotating electrical machine comprising a stator as defined above.

[0029] The invention also relates to a motor vehicle comprising a machine rotating electric as defined previously.

[0030] The invention also relates to a method for assembling a stator for an axial flux rotating electrical machine, comprising an annular yoke, stator teeth, and shims covering the yoke and separating two adjacent stator teeth, first means for securing a first face of the shims to the yoke, and second means for securing a second face of the stator teeth to the shims or the yoke.

[0031] The method comprises: - inserting the shims in an axial direction of the stator into the yoke by means of the first securing means so that when the first face of the shims is in contact with the yoke, the shims and the teeth are movable relative to the yoke, and - the application of a radial force on at least each shim in a direction oriented towards the center of the stator so that the shims are fixed to the yoke and the stator teeth are fixed by the second securing means on the shims or the yoke.

[0042] [Fig.l] illustrates an example of an electric or hybrid motor vehicle 1 comprising a rotating electrical machine 2 with axial flux.

[0043] The rotating electrical machine 2 comprises a stator 3 and a rotor 4, and is for example connected to the wheels of the vehicle 1 to move the vehicle 1.

[0044] [Fig.2] illustrates an example of the stator 3.

[0045] The stator 3 comprises an annular yoke 5 and stator teeth 6.

[0046] The yoke 5 and the stator teeth 6 comprise, for example, a stack of sheets of soft magnetic material or soft magnetic composite material.

[0047] Alternatively, the yoke 5 comprises a stack of sheets of soft magnetic material and the teeth 6 comprise a soft magnetic composite material.

[0048] According to yet another variant, the teeth 6 comprise a stack of sheets of soft magnetic material and the yoke 5 comprises a soft magnetic composite material.

[0049] The stator teeth 6 comprise stator coils (not shown) to generate a magnetic field in the air gap of the machine 2 separating the stator 3 and the rotor 4.

[0050] The stator 3 further comprises shims 7 covering the yoke 5 and separating two adjacent stator teeth 6.

[0051] The radial length of the shims 7 is equal to the radial length of the teeth 6.

[0052] Each wedge 7 comprises on a first face 8 a first dovetail 9 extending in a radial direction of the stator 3.

[0053] Each stator tooth 6 comprises on a first face 10 a first dovetail 11 extending in a radial direction of the stator 3.

[0054] The yoke 5 comprises first grooves 12 extending in a radial or substantially radial direction of the stator 3 and each receiving a first dovetail 9, and second grooves 13 extending in a radial or substantially radial direction of the stator 3 and each receiving a second dovetail 11.

[0055] The radial length of the first grooves 12, the second grooves 13, the first dovetails 9 and the second dovetails 11 is greater than the radial length of the shims 7 and the teeth 6.

[0056] The width of the first grooves 12 and the second grooves 13 is chosen so that the first dovetails 9 and the second dovetails 11 are inserted in an axial direction of the stator 3 in the first grooves 12 and the second grooves 13.

[0057] The first and second grooves are arranged on the yoke 5 so that the teeth 6 and the shims 7 cover one face of the yoke 5, and so that a groove i of the set of first grooves 12 forms an angle oriented a; in an orthogonal reference having as its center the center of the stator such that:

[0058] a^r) r = [r;r^

[0059] where N; varies from 1 to Nd, Nd being the total number of dovetails, Wsiot being the width of the first and second grooves, WDov being the largest width of the first and second dovetails less than the width Wsiot of the first and second grooves, rin and rout being respectively the internal and external radii of the grooves relative to the center of the stator 3.

[0060] The first and second grooves are arranged substantially radially on the annular yoke 5.

[0061] If the first and second grooves are arranged radially on the annular yoke 5, the oriented angle a; in the orthogonal reference frame having as its center the center of the stator such that:

[0062] a / ?. = ( -1)• 360 ° • (2) ' Na * i' i V -7

[0063] Each first dovetail 9 is inserted in the axial direction of the stator 3 into a first groove 12 with a clearance so that the shim 7 is movable on the yoke 5 when its first face 8 is in contact with the yoke 5.

[0064] Each second dovetail 11 is inserted in the axial direction of the stator 3 into a second groove 13 with a clearance so that the tooth 6 is movable on the yoke 5 when its first face 10 is in contact with the yoke 5.

[0065] The shims 7, the teeth 6, the first dovetails 9, the first grooves 12, the second dovetails 11 and the second grooves 13 are further dimensioned so that when the first and second dovetails 9, 11 are inserted into the first and second grooves 12, 13, the dovetails 9, 11 translate in the grooves 12, 13 towards the center of the stator 3 under the effect of a radial force applied to said shims and teeth until each shim is immobilized by adjacent stator teeth and is fixed on the yoke, and until each tooth is immobilized by adjacent shims and is fixed on the yoke as described in the following.

[0066] The stator teeth 6 and the wedges 7 are for example dimensioned so that they form right prisms with a trapezoidal shape, the smallest base delimiting a first surface of the teeth and wedges opening onto the central recess of the stator and the largest base delimiting a second surface opposite the first surface.

[0067] The radial force is oriented towards the center of the stator and is represented by a vector

[0068] When applying radial forces, the shims 7 are fixed to the cylinder head 5 and the teeth 6 are fixed on the cylinder head 5 by mechanical locking.

[0069] The cylinder head 5 may further comprise stops 14 on its inner perimeter. preventing the teeth 6 and the shims 7 from sliding in the center of the stator 3.

[0070] When the teeth 6 and the shims 7 are locked in their respective groove, a locking means can further secure the teeth and the shims in the stator, for example by adding glue between the tooth or the shim and the groove associated with the opposite end from that in contact with the stop 14.

[0071] The first dovetails 9 cooperating with the first grooves 12 form first securing means.

[0072] The second dovetails 11 cooperating with the second grooves 13 form second securing means.

[0073] Reference is made to Figures 3 to 5 which illustrate different partial views of the unfolded outer perimeter of the stator 3.

[0074] Figures 3 to 5 illustrate the steps of an example of a method for obtaining the stator 3 illustrated in [Fig.2].

[0075] It is assumed that each tooth 6 comprises a stator coil 15.

[0076] During an assembly step illustrated in [Fig.3], the shims 7 and the teeth 6 are assembled together so that two adjacent stator teeth 6 are separated with a game by a shim 7.

[0077] The shims 7 and the teeth 6 form a stator assembly.

[0078] During a step of positioning the stator assembly on the yoke 5 ([Fig.4] ), the first face of the shims 7 is in contact with the cylinder head 5 and the first face of the teeth 6 is in contact with the cylinder head 5.

[0079] The first dovetails 9 are inserted in the axial direction into the first grooves 12, and the second dovetails 11 are inserted in the axial direction into the second grooves 13.

[0080] Since the width Wsiot of the first and second grooves is greater than the width WDov of the first and second dovetails, the dovetails 9, 11 are arranged with a clearance in the grooves 12, 13.

[0081] The section of the first and second grooves 12, 13 forms for example a dovetail.

[0082] During a step of applying the axial force 7n ([Fig.5]) to each shim 7 and each tooth 6, the shims 7 and the teeth 6, the first dovetails 9 translate in the first grooves 12 and the second dovetails 11 translate in the second grooves 13 in a direction oriented towards the center of the stator 3.

[0083] Generally, the teeth 6 are arranged so that they are substantially in their final location during the assembly step. The step of applying the axial force causes a greater displacement of the shims 7 than of the teeth 6.

[0084] The shims 7 and the teeth 6 translate in said direction until each shim 7 is immobilized by adjacent stator teeth 6, each shim 7 coming into abutment against adjacent teeth 6.

[0085] As the shims 7 and the teeth 6 are separated by a clearance, and the dovetails 9, 11 are inserted into the grooves 12, 13 with a clearance, following the translation of the shims 7 and the teeth 6 under the effect of the axial force, the dovetails 9, 11 lock in the grooves by coming into abutment with one or other of the lateral surfaces of the grooves 12, 13 locking the teeth 6 and the shims 7 in the cylinder head 5.

[0086] Two adjacent dovetails 9, 11 are for example in abutment with two opposite lateral surfaces of the grooves 12, 13.

[0087] The shims 7 are fixed on the cylinder head 5 and the teeth 6 are fixed on the cylinder head 5.

[0088] The first and second securing means allow the teeth 6 to be inserted and the shims 7 in the axial direction of the stator 3 and to fix the teeth 6 and the shims 7 on the yoke by exerting an axial force making it possible to overcome the peripheral shape of the yoke, the yoke having for example a rim so that it is not possible to insert the teeth 6 and the shims 7 in a radial direction of the stator.

[0089] The first and second securing means, and the shims 7 make it possible to position the stator teeth 6 on the yoke 5 easily by creating an assembly clearance.

[0090] The assembly clearance prevents the occurrence of assembly stresses.

[0091] The first and second securing means, and the shims 7 make it possible to lock the teeth 6 on the cylinder head 5 following the application of an axial force on each shim 7.

[0092] Furthermore, the torque generated by the electric machine 2 during its operation exerts a tangential force blocking the teeth 6 on the yoke 5.

[0093] Furthermore, it is not necessary to machine an intermediate adaptation part to fix the teeth 6 on the cylinder head 5.

[0094] In addition, the teeth 6 and the shims 7 can be manufactured upstream of the assembly of the stator 3 and independently, thus facilitating their manufacture.

[0095] The teeth 6 are wound before their integration into the stator 3, thus facilitating the production of the coils 15 on the teeth 6.

[0096] [Fig.6] illustrates a partial view of the unfolded outer perimeter of a second example of the stator 3.

[0097] We find the cylinder head 5 comprising the first grooves 12, the wedges 7 comprising the first dovetails 9, and the teeth 6 comprising coils 15, the first dovetails 9 and the first grooves 12 forming the first securing means.

[0098] The second example of stator 3 differs from stator 3 illustrated in FIGS. 2 to 5 in that each shim 7 comprises recesses 16 on a second face 17 opposite the first face 8 and on lateral faces 18, 19.

[0099] The recesses 16 extend in a radial direction of the stator 3.

[0100] The recesses 16 of two adjacent shims 7 form a third groove 20 extending in a radial direction of the stator 3.

[0101] Each tooth 6 comprises on its first face 10 a third dovetail 21 extending in a radial direction of the stator 3 and cooperating with the third groove 20 so that when the shims 7 are fixed to the yoke 5, the third dovetail 21 is immobilized in the third groove 20 having a section identical to the section of the third dovetail 20.

[0102] The third dovetails 21 cooperating with the third grooves 20 form the second securing means.

[0103] The radial length of the recesses 16 and the third dovetails 21 is equal to the radial length of the wedges 7 and the teeth 6.

[0104] In order to facilitate the positioning step, the ends of the teeth 6 opposite the first faces 11 of said teeth are connected by a guide 22 making it possible to pre-position the teeth 6 between them.

[0105] The guide 22 is obtained for example by a process of molding a plastic material around the ends of the teeth 6, and forms a ring.

[0106] Figures 7 and 8 illustrate different partial views of the unfolded outer perimeter of the second example of the stator 3 during an example of a method for obtaining the second stator 3.

[0107] In order to simplify the representation of the different partial views, it is assumed that the teeth 7 are not connected by the guide 22.

[0108] The first and second grooves are arranged on the yoke 5 so that the teeth 6 and the shims 7 cover one face of the yoke 5, and so that a groove j of the set of first grooves 12 forms a second angle oriented yj in an orthogonal reference frame having as its center the center of the stator such that: 101091 y,(r)=^+Sj(r). 4)= (.1)"'.«J®

[0110] where Nj varies from 1 to Nk, Nk being the total number of teeth 6.

[0111] The first and second grooves are arranged substantially radially on the annular cylinder head 5.

[0112] If the first and second grooves are arranged radially on the annular yoke 5, the second angle oriented yj in the orthogonal reference frame having as its center the center of the stator such that:

[0113] ^. = (4) ^ 360o .S^(4) ' J Nk ' ftjv > 4,777,,

[0114] During the assembly step illustrated in [Fig.7], the shims 7 and the teeth 6 are assembled together so as to cover the cylinder head 5 and so that two teeth sta- adjacent toric teeth 6 are separated by a shim 7. The shims 7 and the teeth 6 thus positioned form the stator assembly.

[0115] During the step of positioning the stator assembly on the yoke 5 ([Fig.8]), the first dovetails 9 are inserted in the axial direction into the first grooves 12, and the third dovetails 21 are inserted between two recesses 16 belonging to two adjacent shims 7 so that the first face of the shims 7 is in contact with the yoke 5 and the first face of the teeth 6 is in contact with the second face of the shims 7.

[0116] As the width Wsiot of the first grooves is greater than the width WDov of the first dovetails 9, the dovetails 9 are arranged with a clearance in the first grooves 12 so that the shims 7 are movable relative to the yoke 5. During the step of applying the axial force to each shim 7, the first dovetails 9 translate in the first grooves 12 in a direction oriented towards the center of the stator 3.

[0117] The wedges 7 translate in said direction until each wedge 7 is immobilized by adjacent wedges, each wedge 7 coming into abutment against the adjacent wedges.

[0118] As the first dovetails 9 are inserted into the first grooves 12 with a clearance, following the translation of the shims 7 under the effect of the axial force, the first dovetails 9 lock in the first grooves by coming into abutment with one or other of the lateral surfaces of the first grooves 12 locking the shims 7 in the cylinder head 5.

[0119] Two adjacent dovetails 9, 11 are for example in abutment with two opposite lateral surfaces of the grooves 12, 13.

[0120] The shims 7 are fixed on the cylinder head 5.

[0121] Under the effect of the translation of the shims 7, the recesses 16 move closer to each other to form the third grooves 20.

[0122] Since the sections of the third grooves 20 and the third dovetails 21 are identical, the third dovetails 21 are immobilized in the third grooves 20.

[0123] [Fig.9] illustrates a partial view of the unfolded outer perimeter of a third example of the stator 3.

[0124] The third example of stator 3 differs from the second example of stator 3 illustrated in FIGS. 6 to 8 in that each first dovetail 9 of each shim 7 is replaced by two dovetails 23, 24 extending in a radial direction of the stator, and each first groove 12 is replaced by two grooves 25, 26 extending in a radial direction of the stator 3.

[0125] The radial length of the two dovetails 23, 24 is less than the length radial of the two grooves 25, 26, and is substantially equal to the radial length of the teeth 6 and the shims 7.

[0126] The grooves 25, 26 are positioned on the cylinder head 5 so that a median plane defined between the two grooves of the shims 7 is oriented according to the angle oriented y; in the orthogonal reference frame defined by the equations (1), (2), (3), (4).

[0127] Of course, each shim 7 in the example of stator 3 illustrated in [Fig.2] to 6 can comprise two dovetails each cooperating with a groove of the yoke 5 as shown in [Fig.9].

[0128] Furthermore, each wedge 7 may comprise more than two dovetails, the number of grooves in the cylinder head 5 being defined to accommodate all of the dovetails.
