Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Vehicle seat assembly and associated seat
[0001] The present invention relates to a seat base for a vehicle.
[0002] The invention also relates to such a vehicle seat.
[0003] The vehicle is in particular a motor vehicle. However, the invention also applies in a similar manner to an aircraft, railway or maritime vehicle.
[0004] Conventionally, a motor vehicle seat comprises a seat formed by a metal frame attached to a backrest. The frame and the attachment are usually covered by a plastic upholstery element to ensure passenger safety and for aesthetic reasons.
[0005] However, such a seat requires a significant amount of material, particularly plastic, which increases the mass and the ecological and manufacturing costs of the backrest, as well as the bulk.
[0006] One of the aims of the invention is to overcome these drawbacks by offering a seat that requires less material, is more compact and has a reduced ecological impact.
[0007] To this end, the invention relates to a seat cushion of a vehicle, in particular a motor vehicle, the seat cushion extending along a longitudinal direction and comprising: - a frame comprising two lateral flanges each extending along the longitudinal direction, each lateral flange comprising a fixing area suitable for cooperating with a seat back; - a cap covering at least part of the frame, the cap comprising two strips of fabric, each strip of fabric covering at least part of one of the two associated fixing areas.
[0008] Thus, the seat according to the invention requires less material and has a reduced footprint thanks to the fabric strips that at least partially cover the attachment areas. These fabric strips eliminate the need for bulky plastic upholstery elements and thus reduce the environmental impact of such a seat. Finally, the invention prevents passengers from accessing the attachment areas, thereby ensuring the integrity of these areas. Furthermore, it guarantees passenger safety, preventing injury, particularly from the screws forming these attachment points.
[0009] The seat according to the invention may further comprise one or more of the following features, considered individually or in any technically feasible combination: - each strip of fabric is made of polyester material; - Each side flange comprises a front part and a rear part, the area the fixing being arranged on the rear part, each strip of fabric being fixed to the rear part of the associated side flange; - the seat further includes a rear profile extending in a transverse direction, orthogonally to the longitudinal direction, between the rear parts of the two side flanges to fix each strip of fabric to the associated side flange; - the rear profile is made of plastic material; - the headdress includes a support surface suitable for receiving an occupant, each strip of fabric being sewn to the support surface; - the support surface is made of polyester fabric; - the seat lacks plastic padding covering the fixing areas, and - each strip of fabric completely covers the associated attachment area.
[0010] According to another aspect, the invention also relates to a vehicle seat, in particular a motor vehicle seat, comprising a seat according to any one of the preceding claims and a backrest, the backrest being attached to each attachment area of the side flanges.
[0011] Other aspects and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the following description, given by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
[0012] [Fig-1] - [Fig.1] is a schematic perspective representation of a seat comprising a base according to the invention, and
[0013] [Fig.2] - [Fig.2] is an exploded schematic representation of the seat frame of the [Fig.l].
[0014] A vehicle seat 10 is shown in [Fig.1].
[0015] The seat 10 is suitable for being placed in the passenger compartment of a motor vehicle and for to receive an occupant.
[0016] Alternatively, seat 10 is arranged in an air, rail or sea vehicle.
[0017] The seat 10 defines a longitudinal direction X identical to the longitudinal direction of the vehicle in which the seat 10 is mounted. This longitudinal direction X corresponds to the normal direction of travel of the vehicle and to the length of the vehicle.
[0018] The seat 10 also defines a transverse direction Y corresponding to a direction perpendicular to the normal direction of forward movement of the vehicle and to the width of the vehicle.
[0019] The seat 10 also defines an elevation direction Z, perpendicular to the longitudinal direction X and transverse direction Y and corresponding to the height of the vehicle.
[0020] Hereafter, the terms "horizontal" and "vertical", "front" and "rear" are understood in relation to these longitudinal X, transverse Y and elevation Z directions.
[0021] The seat 10 is for example mounted on a sliding mechanism, not shown, allowing the position of the seat 10 to be adjusted according to the longitudinal direction X-X'.
[0022] With reference to [Fig.1], the seat 10 comprises a seat 14 on which a backrest 16 is mounted and advantageously a headrest 20.
[0023] The seat 14 extends out substantially along the longitudinal direction X, from the backrest 16.
[0024] In particular, the seat 14 includes a frame 22 and a cap 24.
[0025] The frame 22 comprises two lateral flanges 26 each extending along the longitudinal direction X.
[0026] In particular, as can be seen in [Fig.2], each lateral flange 26 extends in a vertical plane along the longitudinal direction X.
[0027] The two side flanges 26 extend outwards on either side of the backrest 16 with respect to the transverse direction Y.
[0028] Each side flange 26 is in particular made of a metallic material in order to ensure good mechanical strength.
[0029] Each side flange 26 comprises a front part 28 and a rear part 30, defined along the longitudinal direction X.
[0030] Thus, the front part 28 of each side flange 26 is located towards the front of the vehicle in the longitudinal direction X. The front part 28 extends lengthwise over the front half of the associated side flange 26 in the longitudinal direction X.
[0031] The rear part 30 of each side flange 26 is located towards the rear of the vehicle in the longitudinal direction X. The rear part 30 extends lengthwise over the rear half of the associated side flange 26 in the longitudinal direction X.
[0032] The file 16 is in particular fixed at the rear parts 30 of the side flanges 26.
[0033] As can be seen in [Fig.2], each side flange 26 includes a fixing area 32 suitable for cooperating with the backrest 16.
[0034] Each fixing zone 32 is arranged on the rear part 30 of the associated side flange 26.
[0035] In particular, each fixing zone 32 includes in particular a recess 34 and at least one opening 36 defined in the recess 34.
[0036] Here, each fixing zone 32 comprises two openings 36 defined substantially along the longitudinal direction X.
[0037] Each fixing zone 32 is designed to cooperate with an associated fixing support 40 arranged on the backrest 16.
[0038] In particular, the file 16 includes two fixing supports 40 on either side of file 16 with respect to the transverse direction Y. Each fixing support 40 defines one or more openings 42 suitable for being placed opposite the openings 36 of the associated fixing zone 32.
[0039] Each fixing support 40 is advantageously rotatably fixed to the backrest 16 by means of an adjustment means 44, here manual, allowing the occupant to adjust the inclination of the backrest 16 relative to the seat 14.
[0040] Each fixing support 40 is suitable for being fixed to the associated fixing area 32 via fixing means inserted into the two openings 36, 42.
[0041] The means of fastening are, for example, screws or bolts.
[0042] Thus, the backrest 16 is suitable for being fixed to the seat 14 at the level of each fixing zone 32 of the side flanges 26.
[0043] The headpiece 24 covers at least part of the frame 22.
[0044] In particular, the cover 24 covers at least in part the two fixing areas 32 so as to form in part the outer surface of the seat 14, i.e. the part visible from the passenger compartment of the vehicle.
[0045] The head 24 therefore gives its appearance and feel to the seat 14.
[0046] As seen in [Fig. 1], the headdress 24 comprising two strips of fabric 46.
[0047] In particular, each strip of fabric 46 is made of polyester material.
[0048] The two fabric strips 46 extend on either side of the seat 14 along the associated side flange 26.
[0049] Each strip of fabric 46 covers at least part of an associated fixing zone 32 among the two fixing zones 32 of the seat 14.
[0050] In an advantageous embodiment, as shown in [Fig. 1], each fabric strip 46 completely covers the associated attachment area 32. In other words, the attachment area 42 is not visible to the occupant inside the vehicle.
[0051] Thus, the fabric strips 46 prevent access to the attachment areas 32, ensuring the integrity of these attachment areas 42. In addition, the fabric strips 46 ensure the safety of the occupant by preventing potential injury upon contact with the attachment area 32.
[0052] As can be seen in [Fig.1], the seat 14 is devoid of plastic material padding covering the fixing areas 32.
[0053] Indeed, the fabric strips 46 avoid the use of bulky plastic material side padding elements to protect the frame 22 and thus reduce the ecological impact of producing the seat 14.
[0054] Each strip of fabric 46 defines a front end and a rear end.
[0055] The headpiece 24 includes a bearing surface 50 suitable for receiving the occupant.
[0056] The support surface 50 extends from the backrest 16, substantially along a horizontal plane.
[0057] The bearing surface 50 is notably composed of a polyester fabric.
[0058] Each strip of fabric 46 is advantageously sewn to the bearing surface 50, at its front end.
[0059] With reference to [Fig. 1], each strip of fabric 46 is fixed, at its rear end, to the rear part 30 of the associated side flange 26.
[0060] For this purpose, the seat 14 further comprises a rear profile 52 extending along the transverse direction Y between the rear parts 30 of the two side flanges 24.
[0061] The rear profile 52 is notably composed of plastic material.
[0062] The rear profile 52 is adapted to fix each strip of fabric 46 to the side flange 46 partner.
[0063] In particular, the rear ends of the fabric strips 46 are wedged between the frame 22 and the rear profile 52 which is fixed on top.
[0064] Alternatively, the seat 14 comprises two rear profiles located on either side of the seat 16, each strip of fabric 46 being fixed by one of the rear profiles.
[0065] Alternatively, the rear ends of the fabric strips 46 are fixed by means of elastic cords to the rear part 30 of the associated side flange 26.
