Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Device for atomizing a liquid cosmetic product, in particular a makeup product
[0001] The present invention relates to a device for atomizing and projecting a liquid cosmetic product, in particular a makeup product, in particular a foundation.
[0002] By “cosmetic product” is meant any product as defined in Regulation (EC) No 1223 / 2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 30 November 2009, relating to cosmetic products.
[0003] A cosmetic makeup product is more particularly intended to cover a body surface in order to modify its perceived color and / or texture.
[0004] The present application relates more particularly to the application of foundation to an area of skin, in particular to an area of skin on the face.
[0005] Generally, it is customary to apply a cosmetic product by direct contact on the skin with an applicator previously loaded with said cosmetic product. The applicator may be a manufactured tool such as a spatula, brush, sponge, or be the user's own hands.
[0006] In the case of certain products, particularly makeup and in particular foundations, it is important that the product can be applied in a thin and uniform layer. To achieve this, it has been envisaged to apply such a product by spraying droplets.
[0007] According to a first known technique, droplets of product are projected by an inkjet type print head. Such a technique allows extremely precise application, almost drop by drop, and very localized. It is notably used in conjunction with sensors arranged upstream of the print head and which detect imperfections in the skin so as to be able to precisely control and adapt the application of the cosmetic product to these imperfections.
[0008] However, such technology has limitations when the skin surface to be covered is relatively large. Furthermore, such technology also has significant formulatory limitations.
[0009] Examples of use of this technique are described in documents EP3673790, WO18232102, WO18231915, WO15191829, WO16200440, WO15191821, WO05123172 and WO20256157.
[0010] According to a second known technique, the liquid cosmetic product is first nebulized before being projected or blown towards the skin.
[0011] Document WO2008150928 thus mentions the possibility of using a sprayer electrostatic or an airbrush system as an alternative to an inkjet print head. The application of the cosmetic product is then no longer controlled drop by drop but the product is applied in the form of a mist and a larger surface can be treated more quickly. However, these aerosolization methods are not very miniaturizable and complex to implement.
[0012] There are other techniques for nebulizing a liquid product such as those using ultrasound. A general description of these technologies is given in document FR3029122.
[0013] In the more specific field of cosmetic makeup products and in particular foundations, we know of document JP2013143993 which implements such technology. More precisely, an ultrasonic transducer covered with the liquid to be projected is used to generate an ultrasonic wave which will fragment the surface of the liquid into fine droplets. The droplets are then projected towards the skin by an air flow generated by a fan integrated into the device. The quantity of product that can be diffused remains very small, however, and the device must be refilled with liquid and can hardly be used continuously over a long period. A similar principle is implemented in document FR3023735 for spraying water and other volatile products (disinfectant, perfume) into the atmosphere.
[0014] Another known technique is the use of a membrane atomizer as described in particular in document FR2908329, still in particular for the diffusion of perfumes. Such a device comprises a micro-perforated membrane or grid subjected to ultrasonic vibrations.
[0015] Finally, certain systems implement a perforated grid not directly subjected to vibrations by the ultrasonic transducer as is notably the case in documents EP1602414 and EP1952896.
[0016] Such devices generally comprise a spray chamber capable of containing liquid to be sprayed and closed by a rear face of the perforated grid. The liquid chamber can be supplied with liquid from a larger capacity reservoir. The product can be supplied from this main reservoir to the spray chamber in particular by pumping, and in particular by passive capillary pumping. Thus, systems are known which implement capillary channels or porous wicks, or even combinations of the two means as in document FR2934128 for example.
[0017] As explained previously, in the context of an application of a cosmetic product, and in particular makeup, it is useful to be able to easily adjust the intensity of the projection and therefore the flow rate of projected product.
[0018] It is understood that there is thus a need to improve the possibilities of controlling the quantity of product projected by an ultrasonic atomization device with a grid.
[0019] The present invention relates to a device for atomizing at least one liquid cosmetic product, comprising a first atomization unit comprising at least one first grid provided with a plurality of spray orifices and at least one first electromechanical transducer capable of emitting vibrations to spray the liquid cosmetic product through said spray orifices of the first grid out of said device.
[0020] The first grid is provided with a front face on the side from which the liquid cosmetic product is intended to be sprayed and a rear face opposite the front face, said spray orifices opening onto the front and rear faces of the first grid.
[0021] By "grid" is meant a wall crossed by several spray orifices to form droplets of product sprayed under the effect of vibrations emitted by the electromechanical transducer.
[0022] According to a general characteristic, the device further comprises at least one second atomization unit comprising at least one second grid provided with a plurality of spray orifices and at least one second electromechanical transducer capable of emitting vibrations to spray the liquid cosmetic product through said spray orifices of the second grid.
[0023] The second grid is provided with a front face located at a distance from the rear face of the first grid and on the side from which the liquid cosmetic product is intended to be sprayed and oriented towards the rear face of the first grid, and with a rear face opposite the front face and capable of being supplied with liquid cosmetic product to be atomized, said spray orifices opening onto the front and rear faces of the second grid.
[0024] The arrangement of two stages of atomization units makes it possible to control the quantity of liquid cosmetic product sprayed and the fineness of atomization.
[0025] Indeed, the second atomization unit, which is located upstream of the first atomization unit considering the direction of spraying of the liquid cosmetic product, makes it possible to control the quantity of liquid cosmetic product delivered to this first unit. The first atomization unit controls the fineness of atomization of the liquid cosmetic product delivered to the outside of the device.
[0026] Preferably, the section of the spray orifices of the first grid is smaller than the section of the spray orifices of the second grid.
[0027] This arrangement promotes the fineness of atomization of the liquid cosmetic product delivered outside the device.
[0028] In one embodiment, the second atomization unit comprises at least one storage chamber for the liquid cosmetic product to be sprayed, the rear face of the second grid closing one side of the storage chamber.
[0029] A spray chamber for the liquid cosmetic product is preferably delimited between the second grid of the second atomization unit and the first grid of the first atomization unit.
[0030] In one embodiment, the distance separating the front face of the second grid and the rear face of the first grid is adjustable.
[0031] The first atomization unit may comprise a housing supporting the first electromechanical transducer and the first grid, and inside which the second atomization unit is mounted at least in part.
[0032] With such a design, it is possible to provide that the second atomization unit comprises at least one reservoir supporting the second electromechanical transducer and the second grid, at least the second grid being mounted inside the housing of the first atomization unit.
[0033] In a particular embodiment, the first electromechanical transducer of the first atomization unit is integral with the first grid.
[0034] By "electromechanical transducer integral with the grid" is meant that the electromechanical transducer is fixed relative to the grid. The electromechanical transducer may be formed of one or more parts attached to the grid. Alternatively, the electromechanical transducer may be made in one piece with the grid.
[0035] With such a design, the grid is capable of being driven by a vibratory movement under the action of the electromechanical transducer to spray said liquid cosmetic product through its spray orifices.
[0036] In a particular embodiment, the second electromechanical transducer of the second atomization unit is integral with the second grid.
[0037] The device may also comprise common electrical power supply means for the first and second electromechanical transducers.
[0038] In a particular embodiment, the second atomization unit comprises a plurality of second grids each provided with a plurality of spray orifices and capable of being supplied with different liquid cosmetic products to be atomized, each of said grids being provided with a front face, located at a distance from the rear face of the first grid, on the side of which the associated liquid cosmetic product is intended to be sprayed and oriented towards the rear face of the first grid, and a rear face opposite the front face and capable of being supplied with the associated liquid cosmetic product to be atomized.
[0039] The invention also relates to a method for atomizing at least one liquid cosmetic product, comprising the following steps:
[0040] - supplying the rear face of a first grid of a first atomization unit with the liquid cosmetic product, and
[0041] - emitting vibrations using at least one first electro transducer mechanical for spraying the liquid cosmetic product through a plurality of spray orifices of the first grid and on the front face side of said first grid.
[0042] According to a general embodiment, the step of supplying the rear face of the first grid of the first atomization unit is carried out using a second atomization unit comprising at least one second grid and at least one second electromechanical transducer, and comprises the following sub-steps:
[0043] - supplying the rear face of the second grid with the liquid cosmetic product, and
[0044] - emitting vibrations using the second electromechanical transducer to spraying said liquid cosmetic product through a plurality of spray orifices of the second grid, on the side of its front face and towards the rear face of the first grid of the first atomization unit.
[0045] In a particular embodiment, the step of supplying the rear face of the first grid of the first atomization unit is carried out using the second atomization unit which comprises a plurality of second grids, and comprises the following sub-steps:
[0046] - supply the rear face of the second grids with cosmetic products different liquids specific to each second grid, and
[0047] - emit vibrations to spray each liquid cosmetic product through of a plurality of spray orifices of the associated second grid, on the side of its front face and in the direction of the rear face of the first grid of the first atomization unit.
[0048] The present invention will be better understood on reading the detailed description of an embodiment taken as a non-limiting example and illustrated by the attached drawing in which:
[0049] [Fig-1] is a schematic view of a device for atomizing a product cosmetic according to an exemplary embodiment of the invention.
[0050] In [Fig. 1] is shown a device, designated by the general reference numeral 10, which is intended to allow the spraying of a liquid cosmetic product.
[0051] The liquid cosmetic product to be sprayed may, for example, be a makeup or care product, in particular foundation.
[0052] The device 10, with longitudinal axis X-X', is shown in a position assumed to be vertical.
[0053] The device 10 comprises a first atomization unit 12 for spraying the liquid cosmetic product onto the body surface to be treated, and a second atomization unit 14 supplied by the first atomization unit 12 with product sprayed liquid cosmetic.
[0054] The second atomization unit 14 is located upstream of the first atomization unit 12 considering the direction of spraying of the liquid cosmetic product.
[0055] The first atomization unit 12 comprises a housing 16, with an axis X-X', a first spray grid 18, and a first electromechanical transducer 20 for obtaining the spraying of the liquid cosmetic product through the spray grid 18 by emitting vibrations. As will be described in more detail below, the grid 18 is capable of being driven by a vibratory movement under the action of the electromechanical transducer 20 to spray the liquid cosmetic product. In the illustrated embodiment, the device 10 is shown with the spray grid 18 oriented vertically downwards.
[0056] As will be described in more detail below, the spray grid 18 of the first atomization unit 12 and the second atomization unit 14 delimit inside the housing 16 a spray chamber 21 for receiving the cosmetic product sprayed beforehand by the second atomization unit 14.
[0057] The spray grid 18 of the first atomization unit 12 is supported by the housing 16. The grid 18 is arranged to obtain a spraying of the cosmetic product outside the housing 16. In the illustrated embodiment, the grid 18 is located outside the housing 16. Alternatively, the grid 18 could be flush with the housing 16 or be located slightly set back from it.
[0058] The spray grid 18 is provided with a front face 18a facing outwards on the side from which the liquid cosmetic product is intended to be sprayed, and a rear face 18b opposite the front face 18a. The front 18a and rear 18b faces delimit the thickness of the grid 18.
[0059] The spray grid 14 comprises a plurality of through-spray orifices 22 arranged in its thickness. The orifices 22 open onto the front face 18a of the spray grid. The orifices 22 also open onto the rear face 14b of the grid. The orifices 22 allow the spray chamber 21 to be connected to the outside.
[0060] The spray orifices 22 here extend along an axis parallel to the X axis. The X axis forms the spray axis of the device. By "spray axis" is meant the general spray direction.
[0061] The spray orifices 22 may be arranged in different ways on the grid 18. For example, the grid 18 may comprise a central orifice 22 and rings of concentric orifices 22, the orifices of a ring being regularly spaced from one another in the circumferential direction. Of course, other arrangements of the orifices 22 may be envisaged on the grid 18. By way of example, it is for example possible to arrange the orifices in a star pattern or still a random distribution of the orifices. In the illustrated embodiment, the orifices 22 have a cylindrical shape and a constant diameter. Alternatively, the orifices 22 may have other shapes, for example conical or even polygonal section, or even be in the form of slots. The section of the orifices 22 may also be variable. The section of the orifices 22 may for example be between 2 μm and 100 μm, advantageously between 10 μm and 35 μm, and preferably equal to 25 μm.
[0062] The spray grid 18 is of substantially constant thickness. The spray grid 18 is here flat. Alternatively, it is possible to provide other shapes for the spray grid 18. For example, the spray grid 18 could be curved. The grid 18 can for example be made of metallic material, for example silicon, nickel, brass, etc., or even be made of synthetic material.
[0063] The electromechanical transducer 20 is provided to obtain by vibrations the spraying of the liquid cosmetic product located at the rear of the spray grid 18 in the spray chamber 21 through the spray orifices 22 thereof. The electromechanical transducer 20 vibrates at excitation frequencies which are preferably in the range of ultrasounds inaudible to the user of the device. For example, the transducer 20 can vibrate in the range 50 kHz to 200 kHz. The electromechanical transducer 20 is of the piezoelectric type.
[0064] In the illustrated embodiment, the electromechanical transducer 20 is fixed to the rear face 18b of the spray grid. The electromechanical transducer 20 is interposed between the rear face 18b of the spray grid and the housing 16. The electromechanical transducer 20 is offset outwardly relative to the spray orifices 22.
[0065] The electromechanical transducer 20 is made from a piezoelectric material such as a ceramic plate, in particular a zirconate (PZT), methaniobate (PB), barium titanate or zinc oxide plate. The electromechanical transducer 20 may for example be in the form of a ring. The electromechanical transducer 20 has a thickness greater than that of the sputtering grid 18, for example at least twice as thick.
[0066] As indicated above, the electromechanical transducer 20 is here fixed on the rear face 18b of the spray grid. Alternatively, it could be possible to fix the electromechanical transducer 20 on the front face 18a of the spray grid. In this case, the rear face 18b of the spray grid is mounted directly against the housing 16. In another variant, it could still be possible to produce the electromechanical transducer 20 and the spray grid 18 in a single piece.
[0067] As will be described in more detail later, the electro transducer 20 mechanical is capable of deforming out of its rest position when subjected to electrical voltage.
[0068] In the illustrated embodiment, the second atomization unit 14 is mounted partly inside the housing 16 of the first atomization unit 12. The second atomization unit 14 is mounted here axially bearing against a shoulder of the housing 16.
[0069] The second atomization unit 14 comprises a supply reservoir 24, with axis X-X', a second spray grid 26, and a second electromechanical transducer 28 to obtain the spraying of the liquid cosmetic product through the spray grid 26 by emitting vibrations.
[0070] The spray grid 26 of the second atomization unit 14 is supported by the reservoir 24. The supply reservoir 24 internally delimits a storage chamber 30 for receiving the liquid cosmetic product to be sprayed. The reservoir 24 comprises an end wall forming a bottom 32 and an open opposite end (not referenced) which is closed by the grid 26.
[0071] The grid 26 is located inside the housing 16 of the first atomization unit 12. The grid 26 is arranged to obtain a spraying of the cosmetic product towards the rear face 18b of the grid of the first atomization unit 12.
[0072] The spray grid 26 is provided with a front face 26a on the side from which the liquid cosmetic product is intended to be sprayed, which is oriented axially opposite the rear face 18b of the grid of the first atomization unit 12, and a rear face 26b opposite the front face 26a. The front 26a and rear 26b faces delimit the thickness of the grid 26. The rear face 26b of the grid is in direct contact with the liquid cosmetic product contained in the storage chamber 30. The front face 26a is located at a distance from the rear face 18b of the first grid.
[0073] The grid 18 of the first atomization unit 12 and the grid 26 of the second atomization unit 14 axially delimit the spray chamber 21 inside the housing 16. The rear face 18b of the grid 18 and the front face 26a of the grid 26 axially delimit the spray chamber 21. In other words, the spray chamber 21 is closed on either side by the rear face 18b of the grid 18 and the front face 26a of the grid 26. The spray chamber 21 is radially delimited by the housing 16.
[0074] In the illustrated embodiment, the grid 26 of the second atomization unit 14 is fixed relative to the grid 18 of the first atomization unit 12. Alternatively, it could be possible to provide that the grid 26 is axially movable relative to the grid 18 so as to be able to adjust the distance separating the front face 26a and the rear face 18b of these grids. In this case, the volume of the spray chamber 21 is adjustable.
[0075] The spray grid 26 comprises a plurality of through-spray orifices 34 arranged in its thickness. The orifices 34 open onto the front face 26a and the rear face 26b of the grid. The orifices 34 allow the spray chamber 21 to be connected to the storage chamber 30.
[0076] The spray orifices 34 here extend along an axis parallel to the X axis. The X axis forms the spray axis of the device. By "spray axis" is meant the general spray direction.
[0077] In a similar manner to the spray orifices 22 of the first atomization unit 12, the orifices 34 may be arranged in different ways on the grid 26. For example, the grid 26 may comprise a central orifice 34 and rings of concentric orifices 34, the orifices of a ring being spaced regularly from one another in the circumferential direction. Of course, other arrangements of the orifices 34 may be envisaged on the grid 26. By way of example, it is for example possible to arrange the orifices in a star pattern or even to distribute them randomly. In the illustrated embodiment, the orifices 34 have a cylindrical shape and a constant diameter. Alternatively, the orifices 34 may have other shapes, for example conical or even polygonal in section, or even be in the form of slots. The section of the orifices 34 can also be variable.Preferably, the section of the orifices 34 is greater than the section of the orifices 22 of the first atomization unit 12. The section of the orifices 34 may for example be between 20 pm and 500 pm, advantageously between 40 pm and 100 pm, and preferably equal to 50 pm.
[0078] The spray grid 26 is of substantially constant thickness. The spray grid 26 is here flat. Alternatively, it is possible to provide other shapes for the spray grid 26. For example, the spray grid 26 could be curved. The grid 26 can for example be made of metallic material, for example silicon, nickel, brass, etc., or even be made of synthetic material.
[0079] The electromechanical transducer 28 is provided to obtain by vibrations the spraying of the liquid cosmetic product located at the rear of the spray grid 26 in the storage chamber 30 through the spray orifices 34 thereof. The electromechanical transducer 28 vibrates at excitation frequencies which are preferably in the range of ultrasounds inaudible to the user of the device. For example, the transducer 28 can vibrate in the range 50 kHz to 200 kHz. The electromechanical transducer 28 is of the piezoelectric type.
[0080] In the illustrated embodiment, the electromechanical transducer 28 is fixed on the rear face 26b of the spray grid. The electromechanical transducer 28 is interposed between the rear face 26b of the spray grid and the reservoir 24. The electromechanical transducer 28 is offset outwards by relative to the spray orifices 22.
[0081] The electromechanical transducer 28 is made from a piezoelectric material such as a ceramic plate, in particular a zirconate (PZT), methaniobate (PB), barium titanate or zinc oxide plate. The electromechanical transducer 28 may, for example, be in the form of a ring. The electromechanical transducer 28 has a thickness greater than that of the sputtering grid 18, for example at least twice as thick.
[0082] As indicated previously, the electromechanical transducer 28 is here fixed on the rear face 26b of the spray grid. Alternatively, it could be possible to fix the electromechanical transducer 28 on the front face 26a of the spray grid. In this case, the rear face 28b of the spray grid is mounted directly against the reservoir 24. In another variant, it could still be possible to produce the electromechanical transducer 28 and the spray grid 26 in a single piece.
[0083] As will be described in more detail later, the electromechanical transducer 28 is capable of deforming out of its rest position when subjected to an electrical voltage.
[0084] For this purpose, the device 10 comprises an electrical pulse generator 36 electrically connected to the electromechanical transducers 20, 28 of the first and second atomization units, and a source 38 of electrical energy supplying the generator 36. The electrical pulse generator 36 and the source 38 form electrical power supply means common to the two transducers 20 and 28.
[0085] In the illustrated embodiment, the electromechanical transducers 20, 28 are driven simultaneously. Alternatively, it is possible to drive the transducers 20, 28 independently.
[0086] The generator 36 and the source 38 of electrical energy are housed inside the housing 16. The generator 36 may for example be an electronic circuit. The source 38 of electrical energy may for example be a battery or cells. Alternatively, it could be possible not to provide the source 38 of electrical energy when the device 10 is adapted to be connected to the mains.
[0087] The electrical pulse generator 36 is electrically connected to the electromechanical transducer 28 of the second atomization unit by excitation electrodes (not shown) applied thereto, and an electrical connection (shown schematically) connecting the generator 36 to each electrode. The electrical pulse generator 36 is electrically connected to the electromechanical transducer 20 of the first atomization unit in an identical manner.
[0088] The device 10 also comprises a button 40 mounted on the housing 16 and accessible from the outside for selectively switching the pulse generator 36 electrical between a resting state and an excitation state of the electromechanical transducers 20, 28.
[0089] The operation of the device 10 is as follows.
[0090] Initially, when the device 10 is at rest, the electrical pulse generator 36 does not deliver any electrical voltage to the electromechanical transducers 20, 28. The electromechanical transducers 20, 28 are in their rest position. The storage chamber 30 of the second atomization unit has been previously filled with liquid cosmetic product to be sprayed.
[0091] When the user wishes to spray liquid cosmetic product, he presses the button 40. The electrical energy source 38 powers the electrical pulse generator 36. The generator 22 emits electrical pulses which are transmitted to the electromechanical transducers 20, 28 via the excitation electrodes. The electromechanical transducers 20, 28 then deform relative to their rest position and oscillate relative to this rest position.
[0092] Each of the electromechanical transducers 20, 28 thus emits vibrations or pressure waves which are transmitted to the associated spray grid 18, 26 which also deforms.
[0093] The grid 26 of the second atomization unit transmits these vibrations to the liquid cosmetic product which is contained in the storage chamber 30. This makes it possible to obtain a spraying of the product present against the rear face 26b of the spray grid through the orifices 34. The liquid cosmetic product is sprayed inside the spray chamber 21 of the first atomization unit in the form of droplets. In the illustrated embodiment, the spraying is carried out along the axis X-X'. Alternatively, it is possible to provide another spraying orientation.
[0094] The liquid cosmetic product is sprayed inside the spray chamber 21 and is deposited on the rear face 18b of the grid of the first atomization unit. The rear face 18b is in direct contact with the sprayed liquid cosmetic product.
[0095] Under the effect of the vibrations of the electromechanical transducer 20, the movement of the grid 18 makes it possible to obtain a spraying of the product present against the rear face 18b through the orifices 22. The liquid cosmetic product is sprayed outside the device 10 in the form of droplets.
[0096] The second atomization unit 14 makes it possible to control the quantity of liquid cosmetic product delivered to the first atomization unit 12 which itself controls the fineness of atomization of the product.
[0097] The series arrangement of the first and second atomization units is even more advantageous when the section of the orifices 22 is smaller than that of the orifices 34.
[0098] In the illustrated embodiment, each electromechanical transducer 20, 28 is secured to the associated spray grid 18, 26 to directly transmit the emitted vibrations to it and to animate it with a vibratory movement.
[0099] In another variant, it could be possible to provide that the transducer of the second atomization unit 14 is distant from the associated spray grid and that the vibrations emitted by it are transmitted to a deformable membrane mounted inside the storage chamber 30 to obtain the spraying of the product through the orifices 34.
[0100] In the described embodiments, the device comprises a series arrangement of first and second atomizing units for spraying a liquid cosmetic product. Alternatively, it is possible to provide a device comprising several series arrangements of first and second atomizing units for spraying liquid cosmetic products of different nature and / or color.
[0101] For spraying liquid cosmetic products of different nature and / or color, it is also possible to provide that the second atomization unit comprises a plurality of second grids similar to those described previously and capable of being supplied with different liquid cosmetic products. The plurality of second grids supplies the first grid of the first atomization unit. The second atomization unit comprises a plurality of storage chambers each dedicated to one of the liquid cosmetic products. With this design, it is also possible to provide that each of the second grids is associated with a second electromechanical transducer of its own. Alternatively, a single second electromechanical transducer may be provided which is common to the second grids. The first grid of the first atomization unit is supplied by the second grids of the second atomization unit with different liquid cosmetic products.
