Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Wall anchoring device, in particular for a thermal insulation covering
[0001] The present invention relates to a wall anchoring device, in particular for fixing a thermal insulation covering to a wall of a building in order to obtain a thermally insulating covering.
[0002] Wall anchoring devices for fixing to a wall are known. A wall anchoring device comprises:
[0003] - a cylindrical body with extendable fins, suitable for being positioned in a hole in the wall, and
[0004] - a screw which is screwed into the body of the wall anchoring device so as to expand the fins that hook into the hole in the wall, holding the anchor firmly to the wall.
[0005] However, it is well known that wall anchoring devices are mainly designed for solid walls (concrete walls, solid brick walls, etc.). This results in poor adhesion of the wall anchoring device to walls made of perforated bricks or friable materials, such as plasterboard, fiber cement boards, fiber reinforced plasterboard, etc.
[0006] The wall anchoring devices of the prior art have certain disadvantages, which arise mainly from the fact that the different thicknesses of the insulating panels of the thermal insulation covering require dealers to stock a relatively large number of wall anchoring devices with bodies having extendable fins of different lengths.
[0007] Furthermore, the excessive length of the body of the wall anchor device causes difficulties and relatively high costs for packaging and storage.
[0008] The aim of the present invention is to provide a wall anchoring device which does not have the aforementioned drawbacks and which is simple and inexpensive to manufacture.
[0009] Another objective is to provide such an effective, reliable wall anchoring device which is particularly suitable for ensuring anchoring even in the case of walls made from perforated bricks or panels of friable materials.
[0010] Yet another object is to provide such a wall anchoring device which is versatile and suitable for use for different thicknesses of a thermal insulation covering.
[0011] The present invention therefore relates to a wall anchoring device comprising: a body capable of being inserted into a hole in a wall and provided with retaining means adapted to retain the body in the hole in the wall, and a screw adapted to be screwed into the body so as to cause an expansion of said retaining means in order to cause a firm grip of the wall anchoring device inside the hole in the wall; said body comprising a first part and a second part adapted to be slidably mounted in the first part to adjust the length of the wall anchoring device; and said wall anchoring device further comprising anti-rotation means adapted to prevent rotation of the second part relative to the first part of the body of the wall anchoring device.
[0012] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, said anti-rotation means comprise a grooved coupling between the first part and the second part of the body.
[0013] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, said first part of the body comprises a sleeve having an axial channel, and said second part of the body comprises a rod having an axial channel for receiving the screw and a head configured to slide in the axial channel of the sleeve; the axial channel of the first part of the body having a polygonal cross-section and the head of the rod having a polygonal perimeter, and said anti-rotation means comprising the head of the rod engaged in the axial channel of the first part of the body.
[0014] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the axial channel of the first part of the body has an octagonal cross-section and the head of the rod has an octagonal perimeter.
[0015] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, said first part of the body comprises a tail extending axially from a second end of the sleeve; the tail has a smaller diameter than the sleeve; and the axial channel of the sleeve terminates on an internal collar in correspondence with the tail, which acts as a stop surface for said head of the rod.
[0016] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, said first part of the body comprises a discoidal head projecting radially from a first end of the sleeve.
[0017] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the head of the first part of the body comprises a plurality of holes.
[0018] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, said first part of the body comprises longitudinal ribs.
[0019] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, said tail of the first part of the body has longitudinal grooves terminating in radial holes at the second end of the sleeve.
[0020] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, said retaining means are arranged in said rod of the second part of the body.
[0021] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, said retaining means comprise longitudinal fins of the winding type, which are adapted to wind when the screw is screwed into the axial channel of the rod of the second part of the body.
[0022] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, said longitudinal fins of the rod of the second part of the body are arranged between longitudinal grooves and are connected to each other by an end block arranged at one end of the rod of the second part of the body.
[0023] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, said longitudinal fins of the rod of the second part of the body have ribs arranged like threads of a net.
[0024] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, said wall anchoring device further comprises a plug capable of being applied in a seat formed after the axial channel.
[0025] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, said wall anchoring device comprises a disc-shaped head projecting radially from a first end of the sleeve, a stop surface for the plug is provided in the axial channel so as to lock the plug in the seat with the rear surface of the plug aligned with the rear surface of the head.

[0033] [Fig.7] is a perspective view of the body of the wall anchoring device in the assembled and a hole made in the thermal insulation coating applied to the wall of [Fig.6];
[0034] [Fig.8] is a sectional view along a horizontal plane of the wall anchoring device fixed to the thermal insulation cladding and to the wall of [Fig.7].
[0035] With the aid of the figures, a wall anchoring device according to the invention is described, which is designated by the reference numeral 1.
[0036] With reference to [Fig.l], the wall anchoring device 1 comprises a body 2 intended to be positioned in a hole in a wall and a screw 3 intended to be screwed into the body 2.
[0037] The body comprises retaining means A. When the screw 3 is screwed into the body, the retaining means A extend, thus ensuring that the wall anchoring device is held in the hole in the wall.
[0038] The body 2 comprises a first part 4 and a second part 5. The first part 4 and the second part 5 of the body are two separate elements which can be assembled together. The second part 5 can be slidably mounted in the first part 4 so as to adjust the length of the wall anchoring device according to the thickness of the wall where the wall anchoring device is to be applied.
[0039] Anti-rotation means B are provided to prevent rotation of the second part 5 relative to the first part 4 of the body of the wall anchoring device.
[0040] The first part 4 comprises a sleeve 40 of tubular shape with an axial channel 41 open at both ends.
[0041] Referring also to [Fig. 2], the axial channel 41 of the sleeve does not have a cylindrical shape, but a polygonal shape in cross-section. The term "polygonal shape" denotes either a regular polygon, an irregular polygon, or a grooved profile, such as a circumference with grooves and / or ribs. Advantageously, the axial channel 41 has an octagonal shape.
[0042] The first part 4 comprises a disc-shaped head 42 which projects radially from a first end of the sleeve 40 and abuts against an external surface of the wall. The head 42 comprises a plurality of holes 43 having a different shape, such as a circular or triangular shape, in order to obtain a better grip on the surface of the wall and to facilitate leveling of the wall.
[0043] The first part 4 comprises a tail 44 which extends axially from a second end of the sleeve 40 in the direction opposite to the head 42. The tail 44 has a diameter smaller than that of the sleeve 40.
[0044] Longitudinal ribs 45 may be provided on both the sleeve 40 and the tail 44 to prevent rotation of the first part of the body in the hole of the thermal insulation covering.
[0045] The tail 44 has longitudinal grooves 46 terminating in radial holes 47 at the second end of the sleeve 40.
[0046] Referring to [Fig. 2], the axial channel 41 of the sleeve terminates on an internal flange 48 at the tail 44. The internal flange 48 serves as a stop surface for the second part 5 of the body. The tail 44 has an axial channel 49 of polygonal shape, for example in the shape of a cross.
[0047] Returning to [Fig.l], the second body part 5 comprises a rod 50 having an internally hollow cylindrical shape with an axial channel 51. The outer diameter of the rod 50 is smaller than the inner diameter of the channel 49 of the tail 44 of the first body part, so that the rod 50 can be inserted into the axial channel 51 of the first body part, passing through the axial channel of the channel 49 of the tail of the first body part.
[0048] The rod 50 of the second part 5 is provided with retaining means A. Said retaining means A are obtained by means of a plurality of longitudinal grooves 52 in the rod which define longitudinal fins 53 between the longitudinal grooves 52. For example, four longitudinal fins 53 may be provided. Each longitudinal fin 53 comprises ribs arranged like the threads of a net.
[0049] The longitudinal fins 53 are connected by an end block 54 arranged at one end of the rod 50 of the second body part 5. In this way, the longitudinal fins 53 are not conventional expandable fins of an expandable wall anchoring device according to the prior art, but are wrap-around type fins. When the screw 3 is screwed into the axial channel 51 of the second body part and the tip of the screw pierces the end block 54, the longitudinal fins 53 do not extend radially uniformly and tend to wrap, i.e. twist into a helix, thus creating a collar around the rod 50 of the second body part.
[0050] The second part 5 of the body comprises a head 55 which projects radially outwards from the rod 50.
[0051] The head 55 of the second part of the body has a polygonal perimeter which is complementary to the perimeter of the axial channel 41 of the sleeve of the first part of the body in order to avoid rotation of the first part relative to the second part of the body.
[0052] Therefore, the anti-rotation means B comprise the head 55 of the second part of the body which is engaged in the axial channel 41 of the sleeve of the first part of the body.
[0053] Screw 3 is a traditional threaded screw with a head 30 having a hole or groove for the tip of a screwing tool.
[0054] The wall anchoring device 1 also comprises a plug 9 capable of being applied in a seat 12 made in the head 42 posterior to the axial channel 4L. In this case, a stop surface 11 for the plug 9 is provided in the axial channel 4L. The polygonal shape of the axial channel 41 extends anterior to the stop surface 11. The seat 12 of the head has a sufficient diameter for the insertion of the rod 50 of the second part.
[0055] The plug 9 is made from a heat-insulating material, such as a plastic. The function of the plug 9 is to prevent the wall anchoring device 1, made from a heat-conducting material, from creating a thermal bridge between the exterior and the interior of the building, which would harm the thermal insulation.
[0056] The stop surface 11 of the seat 12 of the head is made in such a way that the rear surface of the plug (9) is aligned with the rear surface of the head 42. Thus, the plug allows perfect leveling of the coated wall.
[0057] As shown in Figures 4 and 5, the rod 50 of the second body part is inserted from the rear into the axial channel 41 of the sleeve of the first body part and into the axial channel 49 of the tail 44 of the first body part, such that the longitudinal fins 53 of the rod project outwardly from the first body part. The head 55 of the second body part slides in the axial channel 41 of the sleeve, preventing relative rotation between the first body part 4 and the second body part 5. The head 55 of the second body part remains in the axial channel 41 of the sleeve.
[0058] [Fig. 5] shows the situation in which the wall anchoring device 1 is adjusted to its maximum length, i.e. the head 55 of the second part of the body is in abutment against the internal collar 48 of the first part of the body.
[0059] At this point, the screw 3 can be inserted subsequently into the second part 5 of the body and screwed into the second part of the body so as to cause a winding of the longitudinal fins 53 of the rod of the second part of the body. It is obvious that the screw 3 can be placed beforehand in the second part 5 of the body without causing the winding of the longitudinal fins 53. Then, the second part 5 of the body with the screw 3 is inserted into the first part 4 of the body, so that the longitudinal fins 53 protrude from the first part of the body, and finally the screw 3 is screwed so as to wind the longitudinal fins 53, as shown in [Fig.5].
[0060] With reference to [Fig. 6], the wall anchoring device 1 is illustrated in the case of fixing a thermal insulation covering 6 to a wall 7, the wall 7 comprising perforated bricks 70 having a plurality of channels 71 parallel to each other. As is well known, the thermal insulation covering (6) may comprise a foam panel, possibly of the multi-layer type.
[0061] Referring to [Fig. 7], the thermal insulation coating 6 is arranged on the wall 7 and a hole 8 is drilled in the thermal insulation coating, for example using a drill or the like. The hole 8 passes through the thermal insulation coating and reaches the wall 7.
[0062] With reference to [Fig.8], it can be seen that the hole 8 made in the thermal insulation coating is extended by a hole 80 made in the perforated brick 70 of the wall in communication with a channel 71 of perforated brick.
[0063] The wall anchoring device 1 is inserted into the hole 8 of the thermal insulation cladding such that the head 42 of the first part of the body comes into contact with an outer surface of the thermal insulation cladding 6. The longitudinal fins 53 of the rod of the second part of the wall anchoring device penetrate into the hole 80 of the perforated brick 70 and are arranged in the channel 71 of the perforated brick 70.
[0064] The operator can now tighten the screw 3, by acting with a tool on the head 30 of the screw arranged inside the axial channel 41 of the first part of the body. The fins 53 then wind inside the channel 71 of the perforated brick, and the wound fins 53 form a collar which abuts against the wall of the perforated brick around the hole 80 of the perforated brick, firmly holding the wall anchoring device to the perforated brick.
[0065] It should be noted that the grooved coupling between the head 55 of the second body part and the axial channel 41 of the first body part prevents relative rotation between the first body part and the second body part.
[0066] Finally, the operator inserts the plug 9 into the seat 12 of the head and carries out a leveling operation on the thermal insulation coating 6.
[0067] Equivalent variations and modifications, within the reach of those skilled in the art, may be made to the present embodiments of the invention, without departing from the scope of the present invention.
