Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Method and kit for making available in several languages a work containing text and possibly images
[0001] The invention relates to a method and a kit for making available in several languages a work containing text and possibly images, such as a children's book. State of the art
[0002] Works such as books, comics, etc. available commercially are almost always monolingual. Linguistic minorities, in particular, would like to have a copy of the works in their language. Usually, they have to wait a long time, sometimes years, before a work is translated into a language, published and finally marketed at a cost significantly higher than that of the original. In addition, this marketing generally takes place abroad, in a country whose language or one of the official languages is the language of the translation. For those interested, this therefore entails additional costs for traveling abroad or obtaining international delivery.
[0003] Moreover, many works are never translated. Summary of the invention
[0004] The main aim of the invention is to enable the immediate availability of a work in several languages, without causing a significant delay or high additional cost.
[0005] According to the invention, this aim is achieved by means of a method in accordance with the following statement 1:
[0006] 1. Method for making available in several languages a work containing text and possibly images, containing the steps of:
[0007] - printing, on a first material support, content composed of text in a first language and possibly images,
[0008] - print, on the front of a second material support, a translation of the text in a second language, the back of this second material support being at least partially self-adhesive.
[0009] Thus, thanks to the method according to the invention, the work can be made available to the public quickly in several languages quickly and at low additional cost, in particular because it is not necessary to use one or more other publishers.
[0010] Advantageous characteristics of the method of the aforementioned statement 1 are indicated in the following statements 2 to 8:
[0011] 2. Method according to the preceding statement, in which the back of the second support material is at least partially self-adhesive.
[0012] 3. Method according to statement 2, in which the back of the second material support is adhesive only on its upper part.
[0013] 4. Method according to one of statements 1 to 3, in which the second support material is composed of several separate or separable pieces, the front of each piece being at least partially self-adhesive.
[0014] 5. Method according to one of statements 1 to 4, in which the first material support is a book, magazine, newspaper or comic strip.
[0015] 6. Method according to one of the preceding statements, in which the material constituting the material supports is paper or cardboard.
[0016] 7. Method according to one of the preceding statements, in which the work comprises both text and images.
[0017] 8. Method according to one of the preceding statements containing the application, to at least on a part of the location(s) of the first material support containing text, of a layer of material promoting the bonding of the second material support.
[0018] The invention also relates to a kit according to the following statement 9:
[0019] 9. Kit for making available in several languages a work containing text and possibly images including:
[0020] - a first material support on which content composed of text has been printed in a first language and possibly images and
[0021] - at least one second material support having a front side on which has been printed a translation of the text into a second language and a back that can be stuck onto the first material support.
[0022] Advantageous characteristics of the kit of the aforementioned statement 9 are indicated in the following statements 10 to 16:
[0023] 10. Kit according to the preceding statement, in which the back of the second support material is at least partially self-adhesive.
[0024] 11. Kit according to the preceding statement, in which the back of the second support material is adhesive only on its upper part.
[0025] 12. Kit according to one of the statements at 9 to 11, in which the second support material is made up of several separate or separable pieces.
[0026] 13. Kit according to one of statements 9 to 12, in which the first material support is a book, magazine, newspaper or comic strip.
[0027] 14. Kit according to one of statements 9 to 13, in which the material constituting the material supports is paper or cardboard.
[0028] 15. Kit according to one of statements 9 to 14, in which the work comprises both text and images.
[0029] 16. Kit according to one of statements 9 to 15, in which at least part of the locations of the first material support containing text is coated with a layer of material promoting the bonding of the second material support.
[0030] The invention also relates to the use of the aforementioned kit, according to the following statement 17:
[0031] 17. Use of a kit according to one of claims 9 to 16, in which the back of the second material support is pasted on the text of the first material support.
[0032] Other advantages and characteristics of the invention will now be described in detail in the following description which is given with reference to the appended figures, which schematically represent:
[0033] [Fig.l]: a monolingual work;
[0034] [Fig-2]: the work of [Fig.l] on which a strip has been partially glued and remains managedly raised, a second support comprising a translation of the text appearing in [Fig.l];
[0035] [Fig.3]: the work of [Fig.2], the second material support being completely applied on the first material support and masking the original text; and
[0036] [Fig.4]: a second material support and a third material support divided into several pieces each comprising a translation of a passage from the first material support into a first language (French, on the left) and into a second language (English, on the right). Detailed description of the invention
[0037] In [Fig.l] a classic monolingual work is shown. It is a children's book. This book comprises a single material support, on which an image and text have been printed in a single language, in this case in Spanish. The work is therefore only of interest to people who know this language.
[0038] Therefore, according to the invention, a second material support has been provided on which a translation of the text into a second language, in this case French, has been printed on the back.
[0039] Then, this second material support was glued by its back onto the text of the first material support, as can be seen in [Fig.2]. The back of the second material support is advantageously partially self-adhesive so that it can be lifted if necessary and reveal the original version of the text underneath.
[0040] Preferably, for practical reasons, the second material support is adhesive only on its upper part, which allows its lower part to be lifted, as in [Fig.2].
[0041] In [Fig.3], the second material support is completely pressed against the first material support and completely hides the original version of the text.
[0042] Since the first material medium may include text interrupted by images, as in the case of a comic strip with speech bubbles containing text, the second support may be composed of several separate or separable pieces as can be seen in [Fig.4]. The front of each piece of the second material support is therefore at least partially self-adhesive.
[0043] The second material support can be printed in a single jet and then separated or several pieces or be printed piece by piece.
[0044] In [Fig.4], a third material support is visible on the right side of the figure. It includes an English translation of the text from the first physical medium and is also made up of several partially self-adhesive pieces.
[0045] Of course, it is possible to stick this third material support either on the first material support or on the second.
[0046] It is possible to proceed in this way with as many languages as desired.
[0047] The invention applies to many material media. Examples include books, magazines, comics, newspapers, etc.
[0048] The material constituting the first, second, etc. material support may be, for example, paper or cardboard, or any other surface capable of being printed.
[0049] The second, third, etc. material supports can advantageously consist of pieces of paper known under the Post-It ® brand.
[0050] The sticky part can also be covered with a protective film which is removed just before sticking the second, third, etc. material support.
[0051] The invention is particularly interesting when the work includes both text and images, because it makes it possible to avoid reprinting these images. Thanks to this, it contributes to saving labor but also paper, ink, production time, etc. and also makes a small gesture for the environment.
[0052] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, it is provided to apply, at least on a part of the location(s) of the first material support containing text, a layer of material promoting the bonding of the second or third, etc. material support.
