Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Multifunctional heat exchange assembly
[0001] The field of the present invention relates to a multifunctional type heat exchange assembly, in particular for a motor vehicle.
[0002] The vehicle may be of land, sea or air type.
[0003] Generally speaking, the aim is to reduce the size of components in vehicles. This is a major challenge. In the context of a vehicle heat pump, one approach is to compact all of its components, particularly the refrigerant circuit and the heat transfer fluid circuit.
[0004] The invention is specifically aimed at such a goal.
[0005] The invention thus relates to a multifunctional type heat exchange assembly, comprising at least two plate heat exchangers performing two distinct heat exchange functions, each heat exchanger comprising plates stacked so as to define between them at least one heat transfer fluid circulation channel for each heat exchanger, assembly in which at least two respective plates of the heat exchangers are made on a single piece.
[0006] It is understood that, in the invention, the single-piece common part forms two plates, each dedicated to one of the heat exchangers. In other words, the two heat exchangers share the single-piece common part which serves to define one of the plates in the plate stack of each of the heat exchangers.
[0007] The term "plate" in the present invention refers to an element specific to one of the heat exchangers (and not an element shared between two heat exchangers). It is understood that the plate can be made as an individual part for each heat exchanger, or as part of a single, common part shared between two adjacent heat exchangers.
[0008] In the invention, at least some of the plates of two adjacent heat exchangers are made on common one-piece parts.
[0009] The invention is advantageous insofar as it proposes making some of the plates of the two heat exchangers using common, one-piece components. Thus, for at least some of the heat exchanger plates, the presence of two individual plates can be replaced by a common, one-piece component that serves both heat exchangers. The heat exchange assembly according to the invention can therefore be made with a reduced number of separate parts.
[0010] According to one aspect of the invention, the stacked plates of the heat exchangers have stamped shapes.
[0011] In this case, it is more advantageous to perform the stamping of a large, single-piece part, for example made of aluminum, which serves for both heat exchangers, rather than performing the stamping operation on two smaller individual plates. The manufacturing cost can thus be reduced thanks to the invention.
[0012] The invention also makes it possible to simplify the plate assembly operations, because larger one-piece common pieces are assembled instead of smaller and more numerous pieces in methods known in the prior art.
[0013] The invention also allows the heat exchangers to be placed side-by-side, which allows for a more compact heat exchange assembly.
[0014] Thanks to the sharing of common one-piece parts to make plates specific to each heat exchanger, it is also possible to save on costly fluid connections that would be necessary between the different heat exchangers.
[0015] In one embodiment of the invention, the majority of the plates of at least one of the heat exchangers are made on common one-piece parts shared with the neighboring heat exchanger.
[0016] In one embodiment of the invention, all the plates of the two heat exchangers are formed on common one-piece parts.
[0017] In other words, in this case, the heat exchangers do not have plates in the form of individual parts specific to each heat exchanger. All the stacked plates in this example are made on common one-piece parts, each of which forms two plates, or even more plates when more heat exchangers are planned side-by-side.
[0018] According to one aspect of the invention, the one-piece common part has a rectangular perimeter.
[0019] According to one aspect of the invention, the one-piece common part comprises at least two regions, each corresponding to one of the plates, each being dedicated to one of the heat exchangers.
[0020] According to one aspect of the invention, these regions have a rectangular perimeter, in particular with the long sides of the respective rectangles being parallel.
[0021] According to one aspect of the invention, the long sides of the respective rectangles are of the same length.
[0022] Alternatively, the longer sides of the respective rectangles are of different lengths.
[0023] According to one aspect of the invention, the one-piece common part may have a length that is equal to the length of the plates formed on this one-piece common part.
[0024] In other words, the single-piece common part, in terms of dimensions, can be presented as two traditional plates placed side by side.
[0025] According to one aspect of the invention, the width of this one-piece common part can be divided to incorporate on this one-piece common part the two regions corresponding to the two plates.
[0026] According to one aspect of the invention, the two regions of the one-piece common part forming plates are separated by an intercalated zone.
[0027] According to one aspect of the invention, this intercalated zone is generally solid between the two plates.
[0028] Alternatively, the intercalated zone has at least one or more openings.
[0029] The openings allow, when the common monobloc parts are stacked, the creation of an insulating air gap which allows the two heat exchangers to be thermally insulated from each other.
[0030] For example, the openings are located in the intercalated zone between a water-cooled condenser heat exchanger (WCDS) and a water-cooled evaporator heat exchanger (chiller) to prevent heat transfer from one to the other. Preferably, several connections are maintained to keep the component together, facilitating its handling and the relative positioning of the plates that make up the single-piece component.
[0031] In another embodiment of the invention, the intermediate zone includes an opening defining a wall of an accumulator (also called a bottle) or a housing configured to receive a bottle. This opening is in particular round, oval or rectangular in cross-section.
[0032] To close this bottle, either a closing plate is used which closes the heat exchange assembly, or a specific cap is used for this bottle.
[0033] According to one aspect of the invention, the heat exchange assembly comprises two or three heat exchangers.
[0034] According to one aspect of the invention, at least two of the heat exchangers share at least one common one-piece part to create plates specific to these two heat exchangers.
[0035] According to one aspect of the invention, the assembly comprises exactly two heat exchangers.
[0036] In another embodiment of the invention, the assembly comprises exactly three heat exchangers.
[0037] According to one aspect of the invention, the first of the three heat exchangers has a height that is the sum of the heights of the second and third heat exchangers. The height of the exchangers is defined in the direction of the stacking of the plates, in other words, in a direction perpendicular to the plane main extension of the plates.
[0038] In this example, the first heat exchanger may comprise a stack of plates, a first group of these plates being formed on common one-piece parts which also make plates dedicated to the second heat exchanger, and a second group of these plates being formed on common one-piece parts which also make plates dedicated to the third heat exchanger.
[0039] Thus, structurally speaking, the assembly comprises a stack of one-piece common parts which, on one side, form the plate stack for the first heat exchanger and, on the other side, form a plate stack for the second heat exchanger and another plate stack for the third heat exchanger. In this example, there are therefore two sets of one-piece common parts.
[0040] According to one aspect of the invention, the height of at least one of the channels of the first heat exchanger is identical to the height of at least one of the channels of the second heat exchanger and / or the third neighboring heat exchanger.
[0041] In other words, considering two successive one-piece common sections, in the stacking direction, these one-piece common sections forming between them both a channel of the first heat exchanger and a channel of the second heat exchanger, the height of these two adjacent channels is identical. The height of the channels is defined in the stacking direction of the plates.
[0042] According to one aspect of the invention, the cumulative height of at least two successive channels of the first heat exchanger is identical to the cumulative height of at least two successive channels of the second neighboring heat exchanger.
[0043] Alternatively, the height of at least one of the channels of the first heat exchanger is different from the height of at least one of the channels of the second neighboring heat exchanger, and the cumulative height of at least two successive channels of the first heat exchanger is identical to the cumulative height of at least two successive channels of the second neighboring heat exchanger.
[0044] According to one aspect of the invention, considering three successive one-piece common parts, these one-piece common parts forming between them a first channel and a second channel of the first heat exchanger and a first channel and a second channel of the second adjacent heat exchanger, with: - The height of the first channel of the first heat exchanger is different from the height of the first channel of the second heat exchanger. - The height of the second channel of the first exchanger is different from the height of the second channel of the second heat exchanger. - the sum of the height of the first channel and the height of the second channel the height of the first interchange is equal to the sum of the height of the first channel and the height of the second channel of the second interchange.
[0045] It is therefore possible to have different channel heights from one heat exchanger to another. For example, one out of every two common monobloc parts is provided with a heat exchanger plate offset relative to the other.
[0046] What has just been described in relation to the first heat exchanger and the second heat exchanger applies to any combination of neighboring exchangers when the total number of exchangers is greater than or equal to three.
[0047] According to one aspect of the invention, the one-piece common parts are brazed together.
[0048] According to one aspect of the invention, the heat exchanger(s) are bifluid exchangers.
[0049] According to one aspect of the invention, the first heat exchanger is a water condenser, or WCDS, a function which will be further developed.
[0050] According to one aspect of the invention, the second heat exchanger is an internal heat exchanger, or IHX, a function which will be further developed.
[0051] To maintain a reasonable pressure drop in the IHX heat exchanger, the refrigerant path on the low-pressure side can be halved by injecting the fluid at the center of the plate and discharging it at two points. In other words, the low-pressure refrigerant path involves injecting the fluid at the center of the plate and discharging it at two points on the plate.
[0052] According to one aspect of the invention, the assembly is thus of the tri-functional type.
[0053] According to one aspect of the invention, the first and / or the second and / or the third Heat exchangers include corrugations configured to facilitate heat exchange between the two fluids circulating within the exchanger(s). Specifically, the height, pitch, and / or angle of the corrugations differ between two plates of the same single-piece unit.
[0054] According to one aspect of the invention, at least one of the first and / or second and / or third heat exchangers comprises perturbation devices, in particular in the form of wall deformations, also called "dimples," configured to promote heat exchange between the two fluids circulating in it / them. These perturbation devices may be circular, oval, chevron, or rhombic in shape.
[0055] According to one aspect of the invention, at least one of the first, second, and third heat exchangers, particularly the third heat exchanger, in particular the chiller, comprises a U-shaped circulation in the plane of the one-piece common parts. The U-shaped circulation is, for example, formed by a rib extending in the longitudinal direction of the heat exchanger plate. Heat, from an edge forming a width of said plate towards the opposite edge of said plate. According to a particular embodiment, this rib has a sinusoidal shape.
[0056] Preferably, the first heat exchanger includes corrugations.
[0057] According to a particular embodiment, the height and / or pitch and / or angle of the corrugations is different between two plates of the same single-piece common part.
[0058] For the purposes of the invention, the heat transfer fluid may refer to a refrigerant fluid or a glycol water-based fluid, or other type of heat transfer fluid.
[0059] Other features, details and advantages of the invention will become clearer upon reading the following description on the one hand, and several exemplary embodiments given by way of illustration and not limitation with reference to the accompanying schematic drawings on the other hand, in which:

[0072] The features, variants, and different embodiments of the invention can be combined in various ways, provided they are not incompatible or mutually exclusive. In particular, variants of the invention may be conceived comprising only a selection of features, described hereafter in isolation from the other described features, if this selection of features is sufficient to confer a technical advantage and / or to differentiate the invention from the prior art.
[0073] Fig. 1 represents a heat pump type air conditioning system 100 for a motor vehicle. This air conditioning system 100 comprises a first refrigerant loop 101 in which a refrigerant circulates, and a second heat transfer fluid loop 102 (represented very schematically) in which a heat transfer fluid, for example glycol water, circulates.
[0074] The first refrigerant loop 101 comprises, in the direction of refrigerant flow: - a compressor 103, - a two-fluid heat exchanger 104, located downstream of the compressor 103, configured to extract heat from the high-pressure refrigerant by its condensation and transfer it to the heat transfer fluid (this exchanger may be designated as a water-cooled condenser or WCDS), considered here as the first heat exchanger, - an internal heat exchanger 110 (generally designated as an internal heat exchanger or IHX) configured to cool the refrigerant by heat exchange between the high-pressure refrigerant and the low-pressure refrigerant, considered here as the second heat exchanger, - an expansion device 111,- a two-fluid heat exchanger 105 configured to extract heat from the heat transfer fluid and transfer it to the low-pressure refrigerant by evaporation (this exchanger can be referred to as a water evaporator or chiller), considered here as the third heat exchanger, , - a 108 accumulator or cylinder configured to remove gas from the refrigerant refrigerant, this accumulator 108 being connected to the internal heat exchanger 110.
[0075] The first refrigerant loop 101 is not described in further detail as it is known from the prior art. The same applies to the second heat transfer fluid loop 102.
[0076] The three heat exchangers 104, 110 and 105 are plate heat exchangers and form a multifunctional type heat exchange assembly 1 shown in [Fig.2],
[0077] As will be seen later, each heat exchanger 104, 110 and 105 includes plates stacked so as to define between them channels for the circulation of heat transfer fluid for each heat exchanger.
[0078] In the example described, assembly 1 comprises exactly three heat exchangers and the first 104 of the three heat exchangers has a height which is the sum of the heights of the second 110 and third 105 heat exchangers.
[0079] The first heat exchanger 104 comprises a stack of plates, a first group 10 of these plates being formed on common one-piece parts which also make plates dedicated to the second heat exchanger 110, and a second group 20 of these plates being formed on common one-piece parts which also make plates dedicated to the third heat exchanger 105.
[0080] The first group 10 of plates, visible in figures 3 and 4, is formed on common one-piece parts 11 and 12.
[0081] The one-piece common part 11 of this group 10 forms upper plates 14 and 15 of the plate stack of each heat exchanger 104 and 110 respectively, namely the plates with openings 16 for communicating with connecting flanges.
[0082] In particular, the upper plate 14 of the exchanger 104 has a flange 201 connected to the outlet of the compressor 103 and a flange 202 connected to the flange 204 of the other heat exchanger 110.
[0083] The upper plate 15 of the exchanger 110 has two flanges 203 and 205 connected to the inlet of the compressor 103 and a flange 206 connected to the expansion device 111. This upper plate 15 also has an opening 18 connected to the accumulator 108.
[0084] The one-piece common part 11, with a rectangular perimeter, is made by stamping a sheet and includes a wall 19, here which is straight, between the plates 14 and 15. The wall 19 is in an intermediate zone 40 between the plates 14 and 15. The one-piece common part 11 thus comprises two regions, each corresponding to one of the plates 14 and 15.
[0085] The wall 19 is extended, on each plate 14 and 15, by a raised rim 17 which extends around the perimeter of each respective plate.
[0086] The perimeter of plates 14 and 15 is rectangular with rounded corners. Plates 14 and 15 are joined along their long side, which is of the same length.
[0087] These plates 14 and 15 may have identical or different respective areas.
[0088] Within the group 10 of plates, immediately below the one-piece common part 11, there is a stack of identical one-piece common parts 12 (visible on [Fig.4]) which have, for each part 12, like the one-piece common part 11, a wall 19 in the intercalated zone 40, with on either side of the wall 19, plates 30 and 31 belonging respectively to the heat exchanger 104 (WCDS) and to the heat exchanger 110 (IHX).
[0089] The plates 30 and 31, which are internal plates to the plate stack, include corrugations or devices for disturbing the fluid flow.
[0090] In the example described, each plate 30 of the first heat exchanger 104 (WCDS) has chevron-shaped corrugations 300 produced by stamping. The height H of such chevron-shaped corrugations 300 is illustrated in [Fig. 10].
[0091] Each plate 31 of the second heat exchanger 110 (IHX) includes disturbance devices, in particular bosses 301, produced by stamping.
[0092] The height and / or pitch of these disturbance forms are different between the plates 30 and 31 of the same common one-piece 12. Here, the pitch of the bosses 301 of the second heat exchanger 110 (IHX) is greater than the pitch of the chevron-shaped corrugations 300 of the first heat exchanger 104 (WCDS).
[0093] In the case where corrugations 300 are used on adjacent plates for two adjacent heat exchangers, the angle ANG of the chevrons (as seen in [Fig.1 1]) may differ from one plate to another.
[0094] The plates 30 have fluid inlets 302 and fluid outlets 303 allowing a diagonal flow of fluid between the inlet 302 and the outlet 303, for the refrigerant fluid.
[0095] Inlets 304 and outlet 305 are provided for the stages dedicated to the heat transfer fluid.
[0096] Similarly, inlets 311 and outlet 312 are provided on the plates 31 for the refrigerant fluid, for the high-pressure refrigerant stages.
[0097] The plates 31 also include a fluid inlet 313 and two fluid outlets 314 for the low-pressure refrigerant stages. The path of a low-pressure refrigerant thus involves fluid injection at the center of the plate and discharge at two points on the plate. This allows for maintaining a reasonable pressure drop in the IHX heat exchanger, as the refrigerant path on the low-pressure side is halved thanks to the fluid injection at the center of the plate and two-point evacuation.
[0098] Like the one-piece common part 11, a raised edge 39 extends around the entire perimeter of each of the plates 30 and 31 of the one-piece common part 12.
[0099] In the example described, the height of the channels 37 formed between the plates 30 of the first heat exchanger 104 is identical to the height of the channels 38 formed between the plates 31 of the second neighboring heat exchanger 110.
[0100] Figure 5 shows a single-piece common part 22 which defines, for the second heat exchanger 110, the end plate 23, or bottom plate, which is solid. The other part of the single-piece common part 22 defines the plate 30 of the first heat exchanger 104.
[0101] The terminal plate 23 forms a boundary between the second heat exchanger 110 (IHX) and the third heat exchanger 105 (Chiller), these two heat exchangers being superimposed.
[0102] We see on [Fig.6] the second group 20 of plates formed on common one-piece parts 25 which make plates 30 and 36 dedicated respectively to the first and third heat exchangers 104 and 105.
[0103] The plate 36 has bosses 301, made by stamping.
[0104] Each plate 36 includes a U-shaped passage in the plane of the one-piece common parts 25. The U-shaped passage is formed by a rib 35 extending in the longitudinal direction of the plate 36, from an edge forming a width of said plate 36 towards the opposite edge of said plate. According to a particular embodiment, this rib 35 has a sinusoidal shape, as can be seen in [Fig. 6].
[0105] Fluid connection flanges are provided on the lower plates of the first and third heat exchangers 104 and 105. In particular, there is a flange 210 with an inlet connected to the expansion device 111 and an outlet to the accumulator 108.
[0106] The various common one-piece parts are brazed together.
[0107] In the example above, all the plates of the heat exchangers 104, 105 and 110 are formed on common one-piece parts.
[0108] In other words, in this case, the heat exchangers 104, 105 and 110 do not have plates in the form of individual parts specific to each heat exchanger. All the stacked plates in this example are made on common one-piece parts, each of which forms two side-by-side heat exchanger plates.
[0109] In the example described above, the intercalated area 40 (where the wall 19 is located) is generally solid between the two plates.
[0110] In a variant illustrated in [Fig.7], the intercalated zone 80 comprises a opening 81 defining a wall of the accumulator 108 (also called bottle) or a housing configured to receive a bottle 108. To close this bottle, either a closing plate is used which closes the heat exchange assembly, or a specific cap (not shown) is used for this bottle.
[0111] In a variant illustrated in [Fig.8], the intermediate zone 85 has an opening 86 which, when the common one-piece parts are stacked, creates an insulating air gap, allowing the two heat exchangers 104 and 105 to be thermally insulated from each other.
[0112] In the examples just described, the neighboring exchanger channels have identical heights.
[0113] In a variant illustrated in [Fig.9], considering three successive one-piece common parts 50 (from a larger number of one-piece common parts 50), these one-piece common parts 50 forming between them a first channel 51 and a second channel 52 of the first heat exchanger 104 and a first channel 53 and a second channel 54 of the neighboring second heat exchanger 105, with: - the height hl of the first channel 51 of the first exchanger 104 is greater than the height h3 of the first channel 53 of the second heat exchanger 105, - the height h2 of the second channel 52 of the first exchanger 104 is less than the height h4 of the second channel 54 of the second heat exchanger 105, - the sum of the height hl of the first channel 51 and the height h2 of the second channel 52 of the first interchange 104 is equal to the sum of the height h3 of the first channel 53 and the height h4 of the second channel 54 of the second interchange 105.
[0114] In the present case, all the heights hl, h2, h3 and h4 are different, there are no two heights of the same value.
[0115] To obtain these different heights, a common monobloc piece 50 on two is provided with a plate 55 of exchanger offset in relation to the other plate 56 dedicated to the neighbouring heat exchanger.
[0116] To maintain a reasonable pressure drop in the heat exchanger 110 (IHX), the path of the refrigerant on the Low Pressure side can be divided in half by means of injecting the fluid in the center of the plate and evacuating it at two points.
[0117] Figure 12 shows another embodiment of the invention in which the three heat exchangers 104, 105 and 110 are arranged side by side, without being one above the other.
[0118] In this case, one-piece common parts 250 can be provided, each defining the plates for all three heat exchangers. Thus, the plate 251 of the first heat exchanger 104 is joined with the plate 252 of the second
[0119]
[0120] Heat exchanger 110 on one short side of the perimeter and abutting plate 253 of the third heat exchanger 105 on one long side of the perimeter. The accumulator 108 is arranged tangent to the exchangers 110 and 105. The arrows indicate the refrigerant flow paths.
