Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Support for a bumper of a motor vehicle Technical field to which the invention relates
[0001] The present invention relates to the field of the automobile industry and, more particularly, to supports allowing the attachment of bumpers to motor vehicles. Technological background
[0002] The bumper of a motor vehicle fulfills a critical role in safety and protection. The bumper is designed to absorb the energy of shocks and impacts, thereby minimizing damage to the vehicle and, more importantly, reducing the risk of injury to occupants in the event of a collision. To accomplish these functions, it is essential that the bumper be securely attached to the vehicle.
[0003] In order to ensure proper support of the bumper, it is necessary to use several separate brackets. These brackets are specifically designed for different functions. On the one hand, there are the brackets located under the vehicle's front headlights. Their main role is to ensure the bumper remains vertical, thus ensuring its precise alignment with the lighting elements. They also help to keep the bumper in position, minimizing any unwanted vertical movement.
[0004] On the other hand, the side supports are equally crucial. These components are designed to attach the bumper to the car's fenders, ensuring its horizontal stability and resistance to lateral stresses. The side supports are essential to prevent the bumper from moving laterally in the event of bumps or impacts, which helps maintain the structural integrity of the entire vehicle.
[0005] Although the use of multiple separate brackets is necessary to ensure effective retention of the bumper, it also has disadvantages to consider. When assembling the bumper to the vehicle, it is often necessary to handle and install multiple individual parts. This increased complexity of the assembly can lead to additional challenges when manufacturing and installing the bumpers on the production line.
[0006] In addition, the number of different brackets, including the brackets under the headlights and the side brackets, can make it difficult to precisely adjust the clearances between these brackets, the bumper itself and the fenders of the vehicle. Improper installation or improper adjustment can result in unevenness or unwanted gaps, affecting both the aesthetics and safety of the vehicle. Car manufacturers are therefore faced with the challenge of reconciling the need for multiple supports with assembly efficiency and precision of adjustments.
[0007] Another notable drawback is the considerable number of separate brackets, which results in a significant cost for the design and manufacture of these components. This multiplication of fastening elements, each having particular specifications and requirements, generates substantial expenses in the process of developing and producing bumper brackets. As a result, this increased complexity can contribute to a significant increase in the costs associated with the assembly of these essential elements for motor vehicles.
[0008] The invention aims to remedy the problems mentioned above, by proposing a support for a bumper of a motor vehicle, which is simpler and more economical to use. Subject of the invention
[0009] For this, the invention proposes a support for a bumper of a motor vehicle, comprising a main body, delimited by an upper edge between a proximal end and a distal end of said support.
[0010] Remarkably, the upper edge is intended to be in contact with a lighting device, at least in part, and the distal end of the support is configured to be held to a wing of a motor vehicle by fixing means.
[0011] Thus, advantageously, the support according to the invention is capable of serving as a support for a lighting device when the support is held to a wing of a motor vehicle. As a result, the support replaces the various supports used to perform these two functions. In other words, the support according to the invention makes it possible to avoid the need for several separate supports. The invention therefore makes it possible to reduce the number of separate supports necessary to prevent a phenomenon of sagging of a lighting device present above a bumper, and to prevent the appearance of play between a bumper and a wing of a motor vehicle.
[0012] The support as described above therefore makes it possible to carry out these different functions with a single part and not a multitude of parts, thus reducing costs and simplifying the mounting of a bumper on a motor vehicle. According to another advantage, the use of a single support also allows better management of the clearances between a lighting device, a wing and a bumper of a motor vehicle.
[0013] By “lighting device” is meant here a lighting device having in particular the function of illuminating the road in front of or behind a motor vehicle.
[0014] According to another embodiment of the invention, the proximal end of the support is configured to be held to a motor vehicle by fixing means. Preferably, the proximal end of the support is configured to be present between a right front lighting device and a left front lighting device of a motor vehicle.
[0015] According to another embodiment of the invention, the upper edge of the support comprises at least one notch, intended to accommodate an appendage of a lighting device. Preferably, the upper edge of the support comprises one or more notches of a shape complementary to one or more appendages of the lighting device. Advantageously, the notch or notches make it possible to prevent the lighting device from sliding along the upper edge.
[0016] According to a preferred embodiment, the notch(s) are delimited by a base, making it possible to prevent the phenomenon of withdrawal of the lighting device relative to the support.
[0017] According to another embodiment of the invention, the support is delimited by a front face, and the front face comprises fixing means. The fixing means are intended to allow a bumper to be held opposite said front face.
[0018] According to another embodiment of the invention, the distal end of the support is delimited by a border, and the border forms an angle with the front face of the support, and the border comprises at least one means of attachment to a wing of a motor vehicle.
[0019] Preferably, the border comprises at least one fixing means intended to allow a bumper to be held on said border.
[0020] According to another embodiment of the invention, the border forms with the front face of the support, an angle whose value is between 80° and 130°.
[0021] Preferably, the above-mentioned fixing means are reversible. By way of non-limiting examples, the fixing means may designate one or more screws and / or one or more clips and / or one or more passages provided through the support intended to accommodate the previously mentioned fixing means.
[0022] Of course, the various features, variants and embodiments mentioned above may be combined with each other in various combinations, provided that they are not incompatible or mutually exclusive.
[0023] The invention also relates to a motor vehicle comprising a support according to the invention, as described above.
[0024] Preferably, the motor vehicle comprises a bumper held by said support. Description of the figures
[0025] The invention will be better understood from the following description, which relates to preferred embodiments, given as non-limiting examples, and explained with reference to the appended schematic drawings, in which:
[0026] [Fig-1] is a schematic representation of a front face of an example of a sheave lization of a bumper support for a motor vehicle, according to the invention;
[0027] [Fig.2] represents the bumper support illustrated by [Fig.l], supporting a lighting device and holding a wing of a motor vehicle;
[0028] [Fig.3] represents the bumper support illustrated by [Fig.2], holding a bumper of a motor vehicle. Detailed description of the invention
[0029] As a reminder, the invention provides a support for a bumper of a motor vehicle, which is simpler and more economical to use.
[0030] [Fig.l] illustrates a non-limiting embodiment of a bumper support 2 according to the invention. As its name indicates, the support 2 is intended to hold a bumper on a motor vehicle.
[0031] To do this, the support comprises a main body 4 extending between a proximal end 6 and a distal end 8. Between these two ends, the main body 4 is delimited by an upper edge 10. By the term "upper" is meant here an edge intended to be oriented upwards when said support is mounted on a motor vehicle. In other words, the main body also comprises a lower edge 12, opposite the upper edge 10, and the lower edge 12 is intended to face the roadway when the support is mounted on a motor vehicle.
[0032] Remarkably, the upper edge 10 is intended to be in contact, at least in part, with a lighting device 14 as illustrated in [Fig.2]. By "lighting device" is meant here a lighting device making it possible to illuminate the road in front of or behind a motor vehicle.
[0033] Preferably, the upper edge 10 comprises one or more notches 16 intended to accommodate one or more appendages of a lighting device.
[0034] According to the present embodiment, the notches 16 are also delimited by a bottom 18, in order to prevent a withdrawal movement of the lighting device relative to the support 2. By the term "withdrawal", we mean a movement of the lighting device 14 towards the passenger compartment of the motor vehicle.
[0035] Thus, advantageously, the notch(s) 16 allow a lighting device 14 to be held both vertically by the support 2, in order to prevent a sagging movement of said device, but also horizontally in order to prevent the lighting device from sliding along the edge. upper 10 and also in depth, to prevent withdrawal of the lighting device relative to the support 2.
[0036] The support according to the invention therefore makes it possible to prevent the appearance of play between the lighting device and the main body 4.
[0037] According to another remarkable feature of the invention, the distal end 8 of the main body 4 is configured to be held to a wing of a motor vehicle by fixing means 20, as illustrated in [Fig.2].
[0038] More precisely, the distal end 8 is delimited by an edge 22. The edge forms an angle with a front face 24 of the support, the value of which is between 80° and 130°, preferably between 85° and 110°. Preferably, the edge 22 extends towards the outside of the motor vehicle, when the support is mounted on said vehicle.
[0039] According to the present example, the edge 22 comprises two means 20 for fixing to a wing of a motor vehicle. The fixing means are formed by passages 26A provided through the edge 22, so as to allow the insertion of reversible holding means, of the screw type or clipping means known to those skilled in the art. Thus, the support 2 can be firmly held to a wing 28, as illustrated by [Fig.2],
[0040] In order to ensure better retention of the support 2 to a motor vehicle, the proximal end 6 of the support also comprises means 20 for fixing to the structure of a motor vehicle.
[0041] According to the present example, the fixing means 20 comprise a passage 26B provided through the proximal end 6 of the main body, so as to allow the insertion of reversible holding means, of the screw type or clipping means known to those skilled in the art.
[0042] Of course, as illustrated by [Fig. 1], the front face 24 of the support comprises means for reversibly fixing a bumper to said support. According to the present example, the fixing means comprise passages 26C provided through the main body 4, so as to allow the insertion of reversible holding means, of the screw type or clipping means known to those skilled in the art.
[0043] The passages 26C thus facilitate the fixing of a bumper 30 to the support according to the invention, as illustrated by [Fig. 3], in a simpler and faster manner, while preventing the appearance of play between the lighting device 14, the bumper 30 and the wing 28.
