Abstract
A sensor pod 2 for attaching a sensor to a subsea cable 6 comprises: an attachment node 4 to provide a connection between a sensor and a subsea cable; and a sensor module 8 for connection with at least one sensor. The attachment node is connected to the sensor module via at least one fibre optic cable. The sensor pod is connected in-line with the subsea cable. The sensor module may be hermetically sealed. A sensor may be external to the sensor module. A fibre optic pair and power connection may be in an electrically conductive carrier tube housed in a protection sleeve with a helical slot. The sensor module may be fixed to the cable with a radially acting clamping sleeve. The sensor pod may be connected with a repeated or an unrepeated subsea cable.
