Abstract

An operating mechanism 100, which may be retrofit to a door 1084 (figure 10) of a cabinet 1080 housing a circuit breaker 150 having two operating buttons 152a,152b. The mechanism comprises two actuating components 200 (figure 4B) each having a first end 212a,212b and a second end 214a,214b (figure 5), a frame 208, and a means 156,420 for rotating the frame about a first axis 210 from a first position to a second position in response to a first user actuation. The first and second ends of the actuating components are offset from each other in a first direction 102 and a second direction 104 respectively. The actuating components are moved in a third direction 106 in response to a second user actuation at the first end (via user engagement buttons 154a,154b). Two extension rods 216a,216b are retained within the frame. When the frame is in the first position, the second ends of the actuating components actuate the buttons of the circuit breaker in response to the second user actuation. When the frame is in the second position, the extension rods are aligned with the second ends of the actuating components and actuate the buttons of the circuit breaker in response to the second user actuation.
