Abstract
Description
[Technical Field]
[0001] The present invention relates to quick connect terminals. [Background technology]
[0002] A known conventional quick-connect terminal is, for example, that described in Patent Document 1. The quick-connect terminal described in Patent Document 1 includes a resin body, a terminal that is electrically connected to an electric wire, and a holder that presses the electric wire toward the terminal to maintain contact between the electric wire and the terminal. [Prior art documents] [Patent documents]
[0003] [Patent Document 1] Japanese Patent Application Publication No. 2018-92846 Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]
[0004] In a quick-connect terminal, if the wire is not inserted to a specified position in the main body (all the way into the main body), the connection between the wire and the terminal may become unstable or the wire may become disconnected. Therefore, to ensure a stable connection (a reliable connection) between the wire and the terminal, the wire must be inserted to the specified position. However, with quick-connect terminals, it is not easy to realize a structure that makes the position of the wire visible due to limitations on the arrangement of the terminal and the holder, space, etc.
[0005] SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION An object of the present invention is to provide a quick-connect terminal that can improve the stability of the connection between an electric wire and the terminal. [Means for solving the problem]
[0006] (1) The quick-connect terminal of the present invention is a quick-connect terminal electrically connected to an electric wire, and comprises: a main body having an insertion hole into which the electric wire is inserted; a terminal housed in the main body and in contact with the electric wire to be electrically connected to the electric wire; a holder housed in the main body and maintaining the contact state of the electric wire with the terminal; and a connection mechanism that enables the holder to hold the electric wire when the electric wire is inserted into the main body through the insertion hole and the electric wire is inserted up to a specified position in the main body.
[0007] In the quick-connect terminal according to the present invention, the connection mechanism enables the retainer to hold the wire when the wire is inserted into the main body through the insertion hole and the wire reaches a predetermined position in the main body. That is, in the quick-connect terminal, the retainer does not hold the wire if the wire is not inserted to the predetermined position in the main body. Therefore, in the quick-connect terminal, the retainer can hold the wire only when the wire is securely inserted into the main body. Therefore, in the quick-connect terminal, the stability of the connection between the wire and the terminal is improved.
[0008] (2) In the quick-connect terminal described in (1) above, the connection mechanism may include a first member that abuts against the electric wire when it reaches a predetermined position and moves in conjunction with the movement of the electric wire in the insertion direction; and a second member that is movable between a first position that does not allow contact between the electric wire and the holder and a second position that allows contact between the electric wire and the holder. The second member may be located at the first position when engaged with the first member and at the second position when disengaged from the first member. Movement of the first member may disengage the first member from the second member, causing the second member to move from the first position to the second position. In this configuration, the first member moves when the electric wire abuts against the first member, and this movement moves the second member from the first position to the second position. That is, contact between the electric wire and the holder is possible. Therefore, the electric wire can be held by the holder only when the electric wire is securely inserted into the main body.
[0009] (3) In the quick-connect terminal of (2), the first member may have a push-back member that contacts the tip of the electric wire and pushes the electric wire in the direction of withdrawal from the main body. In this configuration, the electric wire is urged in the direction of withdrawal until the contact state between the electric wire and the terminal is maintained by the holder. Therefore, the electric wire can be held by the holder only when the electric wire is securely inserted into the main body.
[0010] (4) In any one of the quick-connect terminals (1) to (3) above, the holder may have a pressing portion that urges the electric wire toward the terminal and presses the electric wire, and a restricting portion that contacts the electric wire and restricts movement of the electric wire in a direction toward which the electric wire is removed from the main body, and the connection mechanism may allow contact between the restricting portion and the electric wire when the electric wire is inserted to a specified position in the main body. In this configuration, the restricting portion and the electric wire do not come into contact if the electric wire is not inserted to the specified position in the main body. Therefore, if the electric wire is not inserted to the specified position, the electric wire can move in the direction toward which the electric wire is removed. Therefore, when the electric wire no longer moves in the direction toward which the electric wire is removed, a worker or the like can confirm that the electric wire has entered the specified position.
[0011] (5) The quick-connect terminal of (2) above may further include a first detector that detects the insertion of an electric wire into the insertion hole, a second detector that detects the engagement of the first and second members, and an alarm that activates when the first detector detects the presence of the electric wire and the second detector detects the engagement of the first and second members. In this configuration, the alarm is activated when the first and second members are engaged while the electric wire is inserted into the insertion hole, i.e., when the electric wire has not reached the specified position. This allows the operator or the like to know that the electric wire is not fully inserted. This prompts the operator to insert the electric wire further, until the electric wire reaches the specified position. As a result, the connection mechanism operates, and the electric wire is held by the holder. [Effects of the Invention]
[0012] According to the present invention, the stability of the connection between the electric wire and the terminal can be improved. [Brief explanation of the drawings]

[0014] Hereinafter, preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. In the description of the drawings, the same or corresponding elements are designated by the same reference numerals, and redundant description will be omitted.
[0015] Fig. 1 is a perspective view showing a quick-connect terminal and an electric wire according to one embodiment. The quick-connect terminal 1 shown in Fig. 1 is mainly provided in a wall outlet. The quick-connect terminal 1 can establish an electrical connection by simply inserting the electric wire 100, and the electric wire 100 will not come loose without the need for screws or the like, allowing the electric wire 100 to be connected with a simple operation. As shown in Fig. 1, the quick-connect terminal 1 includes a main body 3, a terminal 5, a holder 7, and a connection mechanism 9.
[0016] The main body 3 holds the terminals 5, the holder 7, and the connection mechanism 9. The main body 3 is made of an electrically insulating material. For example, the main body 3 is made of resin. The main body 3 has a housing portion 3A and an insertion hole 3B. The housing portion 3A is a portion that houses the terminals 5 and the holder 7. The insertion hole 3B is a portion into which the electric wire 100 is inserted. The insertion hole 3B is in communication with the housing portion 3A.
[0017] The terminal 5 is a member electrically connected to the electric wire 100. The terminal 5 is electrically connected to a prong receptacle (not shown) of the outlet. As shown in FIG. 2, the terminal 5 has a contact portion 5A, a base portion 5B, and a connecting portion 5C. The contact portion 5A, the base portion 5B, and the connecting portion 5C are integrally formed. The terminal 5 has a substantially U-shape (channel shape). The terminal 5 is made of a conductive material. In the terminal 5, the contact portion 5A, the base portion 5B, and the connecting portion 5C are electrically connected to each other and form part of the main electrical circuit.
[0018] The contact portion 5A is a portion that comes into contact with the electric wire 100. The contact portion 5A extends along the insertion direction of the electric wire 100. The base portion 5B is disposed at a position opposite to the contact portion 5A. The base portion 5B extends along the insertion direction of the electric wire 100. The connecting portion 5C connects the contact portion 5A and the base portion 5B.
[0019] The holder 7 is a member for maintaining the electric wire 100 inserted into the main body 3 in contact (contact state) with the terminal 5 (contact portion 5A). The holder 7 has a pressing portion 7A, a locking portion (restricting portion) 7B, and a connecting portion 7C. The pressing portion 7A, the locking portion 7B, and the connecting portion 7C are integrally formed. The holder 7 is formed by bending a strip-shaped metal (leaf spring) that is elastic and conductive. In this embodiment, the holder 7 is made of, for example, stainless steel. When the electric wire 100 is inserted into the main body 3, the holder 7 is pressed down by the electric wire 100 and elastically deforms. When the electric wire 100 is pulled out of the main body 3, the holder 7 returns to its initial state by its elastic force.
[0020] The pressing portion 7A is located on the front (rear) side in the direction in which the electric wire 100 enters. The pressing portion 7A is configured at an end (one end) of the holder 7. The pressing portion 7A is spaced apart from the contact portion 5A of the terminal 5. When the electric wire 100 is inserted into the main body 3, the pressing portion 7A comes into contact with the electric wire 100 and urges the electric wire 100 toward the contact portion 5A of the terminal 5, thereby pressing the electric wire 100.
[0021] The locking portion 7B is located on the rear side (front, insertion hole 3B) in the insertion direction of the electric wire 100. The locking portion 7B is configured at the end (other end) of the holder 7. The locking portion 7B is spaced apart from the contact portion 5A of the terminal 5. The locking portion 7B is inclined with respect to the insertion direction of the electric wire 100. When the electric wire 100 is inserted into the main body 3, the locking portion 7B comes into contact with (hooks onto) the electric wire 100 to lock the electric wire 100 and restricts the electric wire 100 from moving in the direction of removal from the main body 3.
[0022] The connecting portion 7C connects the pressing portion 7A and the locking portion 7B. The connecting portion 7C is disposed on the base portion 5B of the terminal 5.
[0023] The connection mechanism 9 is a mechanism that enables the holder 7 to hold the electric wire 100 when the electric wire 100 is inserted into the main body 3 through the insertion hole 3B and the electric wire 100 is inserted to a specified position in the main body 3. The connection mechanism 9 has a latch member (first member) 11 and an operation member (second member) 13.
[0024] The latch member 11 abuts against the electric wire 100 when it reaches a specified position, and swings (moves) in conjunction with the movement of the electric wire 100 in the insertion direction. The latch member 11 is made of an electrically insulating material. The latch member 11 is made of, for example, resin. The latch member 11 is arranged on the front side of the main body 3 in the insertion direction of the electric wire 100. The latch member 11 is provided to be swingable on the main body 3. The latch member 11 swings around a shaft portion 15. The shaft portion 15 is journaled on a bearing (not shown) provided on the main body 3.
[0025] The latch member 11 has a main body portion 11A, a locking portion 11B, and an abutting portion 11C (see FIG. 5). The main body portion 11A, the locking portion 11B, and the abutting portion 11C are integrally formed. The main body portion 11A has an insertion hole into which the shaft portion 15 is inserted. The locking portion 11B is a portion that locks (is hooked onto) the operating member 13. The locking portion 11B is provided so as to protrude from the main body portion 11A. The abutting portion 11C is a portion that abuts against the electric wire 100. The abutting portion 11C is arranged on the entry path of the electric wire 100 in the entry direction of the electric wire 100.
[0026] The operating member 13 is a part that is operated when releasing the contact between the electric wire 100 and the terminal 5. The operating member 13 is made of an electrically insulating material. For example, the operating member 13 is made of resin. The operating member 13 has an operating portion 13A, a contact portion 13B, and an engaging portion 13C. The operating portion 13A, the contact portion 13B, and the engaging portion 13C are integrally formed.
[0027] The operating portion 13A is a portion that is operated by an operator. The contact portion 13B is a portion that contacts the holder 7. The engagement portion 13C is a portion that is engaged with the engaging portion 11B of the latch member 11 (a portion on which the engaging portion 11B is caught). The operating member 13 is provided on the main body 3 so as to be movable in the up and down directions relative to the main body 3. The operating member 13 is provided so as to be movable in a direction toward the holder 7 and a direction away from the holder 7.
[0028] The operating member 13 is provided so as to be movable between a first position P1 (see FIG. 3) and a second position P2 (see FIG. 4). As shown in FIG. 3, the first position P1 is a position of the operating member 13 in a state where the operating member 13 is locked by the latch member 11. At the first position P1, the operating member 13 abuts against the holding body 7 (pressing portion 7A, locking portion 7B) and presses the holding body 7 downward. At the first position P1 of the operating member 13, when the electric wire 100 enters the main body 3, the holding body 7 and the electric wire 100 do not come into contact with each other. As shown in FIG. 4, the second position P2 is a position of the operating member 13 in a state where the operating member 13 is not formed by the latch member 11. At the second position P2, the operating member 13 is pushed upward by the holding body 7. At the second position P2 of the operating member 13, the holding body 7 and the electric wire 100 come into contact with each other.
[0029] In the connection mechanism 9, when the locking portion 11B of the latch member 11 and the engaging portion 13C of the operating member 13 are engaged, the operating member 13 is located at a first position P1, and upward movement of the operating member 13 is restricted. In the connection mechanism 9, when the locking portion 11B of the latch member 11 and the engaging portion 13C of the operating member 13 are not engaged, that is, when the locking portion 11B is disengaged from the engaging portion 13C, the operating member 13 is located at a second position P2, and the operating member 13 is free to move.
[0030] Next, a method for connecting the electric wire 100 to the quick-connect terminal 1 will be described. When connecting the electric wire 100 to the quick-connect terminal 1, as shown in FIG. 3, the electric wire 100 is inserted (inserted) into the insertion hole 3B of the main body 3. In the quick-connect terminal 1, the electric wire 100 is inserted through the insertion hole 3B of the main body 3, and as shown in FIG. 5 (the operation member 13 is not shown), when the electric wire 100 advances and the tip of the electric wire 100 abuts against the abutting portion 11C of the latch member 11, the electric wire 100 pushes against the abutting portion 11C. That is, when the electric wire 100 is inserted to a specified position, the electric wire 100 pushes against the abutting portion 11C. This causes the latch member 11 to swing counterclockwise, as shown in FIGS. 4 and 5. When the latch member 11 swings, the engagement between the locking portion 11B and the engaging portion 13C of the operation member 13 is released. When the locking by the latch member 11 is released, the operating member 13 moves upward due to the biasing force of the holding body 7.
[0031] When the operating member 13 moves upward, the pressing portion 7A and the locking portion 7B of the holder 7 come into contact with the electric wire 100. The holder 7 presses the electric wire 100, bringing the electric wire 100 into contact with the contact portion 5A of the terminal 5, and maintains the contact state between the electric wire 100 and the terminal 5. As a result, the electric wire 100 is connected to the quick-connect terminal 1.
[0032] Next, a method for removing the electric wire 100 from the quick-connect terminal 1 will be described. When removing the electric wire 100 from the quick-connect terminal 1, as shown in Fig. 6, the operating member 13 is pushed downward to position the operating member 13 at the first position P1. Next, the latch member 11 is rotated clockwise to engage the locking portion 9D of the latch member 11 with the engaging portion 13C of the operating member 13. This restricts the movement of the operating member 13, and the operating member 13 is positioned at the first position P1.
[0033] When the operating member 13 is located at the first position P1, the pressing portion 7A and the locking portion 7B of the holder 7 are pressed downward, the pressing portion 7A and the locking portion 7B are released from contact with the electric wire 100, and the pressing portion 7A and the locking portion 7B are separated from the electric wire 100. This allows the electric wire 100 to move freely, so that the electric wire 100 can be removed from the quick-connect terminal 1 by pulling out the electric wire 100.
[0034] As described above, in the quick-connect terminal 1 according to this embodiment, the connection mechanism 9 enables the holder 7 to hold the electric wire 100 when the electric wire 100 is inserted into the main body 3 through the insertion hole 3B of the main body 3 and the electric wire 100 is inserted up to a predetermined position in the main body 3. That is, in the quick-connect terminal 1, the holder 7 does not hold the electric wire 100 if the electric wire 100 is not inserted up to the predetermined position in the main body 3. Therefore, in the quick-connect terminal 1, the electric wire 100 is held by the holder 7 only when the electric wire 100 is securely inserted into the main body 3. Therefore, in the quick-connect terminal 1, the stability of the connection between the electric wire 100 and the terminal 5 can be improved.
[0035] In the quick-connect terminal 1 according to this embodiment, the connection mechanism 9 includes a latch member 11 that abuts against the electric wire 100 when it reaches a predetermined position and swings in conjunction with the movement of the electric wire 100 in the insertion direction, and an operating member 13 that is movable between a first position P1 that does not allow contact between the electric wire 100 and the holder 7 and a second position P2 that allows contact between the electric wire 100 and the holder 7. The operating member 13 is located at the first position P1 when engaged with the latch member 11 and at the second position P2 when disengaged from the latch member 11. In the connection mechanism 9, movement of the latch member 11 disengages the latch member 11 from the operating member 13, and the operating member 13 moves from the first position P1 to the second position P2. In this configuration, the electric wire 100 abuts against the latch member 11, causing the latch member 11 to swing, and this swinging causes the operating member 13 to move from the first position P1 to the second position P2. That is, contact between the electric wire 100 and the holder 7 is possible. Therefore, the electric wire 100 can be held by the holder 7 only when the electric wire 100 is securely inserted into the main body 3 .
[0036] Although the embodiments of the present invention have been described above, the present invention is not necessarily limited to the above-described embodiments, and various modifications are possible without departing from the spirit of the present invention.
[0037] In the above embodiment, an example has been described in which the operating member 13 abuts against the pressing portion 7A and the locking portion 7B of the holder 7. However, the operating member 13 may be configured to abut only against the locking portion 7B. As shown in FIG. 7 , in the quick-connect terminal 1A, the connection mechanism 9A enables contact between the locking portion 7B and the electric wire 100 when the electric wire 100 is inserted up to a specified position in the main body 3. In other words, the connection mechanism 9A does not operate the pressing portion 7A. The operating member 17 of the connection mechanism 9A has a shape with a portion cut out so that it does not come into contact with the pressing portion 7A at the first position P1.
[0038] A method for connecting the electric wire 100 to the quick-connect terminal 1A will be described. When connecting the electric wire 100 to the quick-connect terminal 1A, the electric wire 100 is inserted (inserted) into the insertion hole 3B of the main body 3. When the electric wire 100 is inserted into the insertion hole 3B of the main body 3 of the quick-connect terminal 1A, the electric wire 100 comes into contact with the pressing portion 7A. When the electric wire 100 enters and the tip of the electric wire 100 abuts against the abutting portion 11C of the latch member 11, the electric wire 100 presses against the abutting portion 11C. In other words, when the electric wire 100 is inserted to a specified position, the electric wire 100 presses against the abutting portion 11C. This causes the latch member 11 to swing counterclockwise. When the latch member 11 swings, the engagement between the locking portion 11B and the engaging portion 13C of the operating member 17 is released. When the locking by the latch member 11 is released, the operating member 17 moves upward due to the biasing force of the locking portion 7B of the holder 7.
[0039] When the operating member 17 moves upward, the locking portion 7B of the holder 7 comes into contact with the electric wire 100. The holder 7 presses the electric wire 100, bringing the electric wire 100 into contact with the contact portion 5A of the terminal 5, and maintains the contact state between the electric wire 100 and the terminal 5. This connects the electric wire 100 to the quick-connect terminal 1A.
[0040] Next, a method for removing the electric wire 100 from the quick-connect terminal 1A will be described. When removing the electric wire 100 from the quick-connect terminal 1A, the operating member 17 is pushed downward to position the operating member 17 at the first position P1. Next, the latch member 11 is rotated clockwise to engage the latch member 11 with the operating member 17. This restricts the movement of the operating member 17, and the operating member 17 is positioned at the first position P1.
[0041] When the operating member 17 is located at the first position P1, the locking portion 7B of the holder 7 is pressed downward, the contact between the locking portion 7B and the electric wire 100 is released, and the locking portion 7B and the electric wire 100 are separated from each other. This allows the electric wire 100 to move freely, so that the electric wire 100 can be removed from the quick-connect terminal 1A by pulling out the electric wire 100.
[0042] In this configuration, if the electric wire 100 is not inserted to the specified position in the main body 3, the locking portion 7B and the electric wire 100 do not come into contact with each other. Therefore, if the electric wire 100 is not inserted to the specified position, the electric wire 100 can move in the direction to be removed. Therefore, when the electric wire 100 no longer moves in the direction to be removed, a worker or the like can confirm that the electric wire 100 has advanced to the specified position. Furthermore, the pressing portion 7A comes into contact with the electric wire 100 as the electric wire 100 advances, and presses the electric wire 100 toward the terminal 5. As a result, the electric wire 100 is clamped between the pressing portion 7A and the terminal 5 before the electric wire 100 reaches the specified position in the main body 3, and therefore, movement of the electric wire 100 in the direction to be removed can be suppressed.
[0043] In addition to the above embodiment, as shown in FIG. 8 , in a quick-connect terminal 1B, the latch member 19 of the connection mechanism 9B may have a push-back member 19A that contacts the tip of the electric wire 100 and pushes back the electric wire 100 in a direction in which the electric wire 100 is removed from the main body 3. The push-back member 19A is configured to include an elastic body (e.g., a spring) that urges the electric wire 100 in a direction in which the electric wire 100 is removed from the main body 3. In this configuration, the electric wire 100 is urged in the direction in which the electric wire 100 is removed until the contact state between the electric wire 100 and the terminal 5 is maintained by the holder 7. Therefore, the electric wire 100 can be held by the holder 7 only when the electric wire 100 is securely inserted into the main body 3.
[0044] In addition to the above embodiment, as shown in FIG. 9, the quick-connect terminal 1C may have a first sensor (first detection unit) 21, a second sensor (second detection unit) 23, and a notification unit 25.
[0045] The first sensor 21 detects that the electric wire 100 is inserted into the insertion hole 3B of the main body 3. The first sensor 21 is arranged, for example, around the insertion hole 3B of the main body 3. The first sensor 21 may be any sensor that can detect that the electric wire 100 is inserted into the insertion hole 3B, and various sensors (photoelectric, electromagnetic, mechanical, etc.) can be used. The first sensor 21 outputs the detection result to the notification unit 25.
[0046] The second sensor 23 detects that the latch member 11 and the operating member 13 are engaged with each other. The second sensor 23 may be any sensor that can detect that the latch member 11 and the operating member 13 are engaged with each other, and various sensors (photoelectric, electromagnetic, mechanical, etc.) may be used. The second sensor 23 may detect that the latch member 11 and the operating member 13 are engaged with each other based on the state of the latch member 11 and / or the operating member 13, or may detect that the latch member 11 and the operating member 13 are engaged with each other by detecting the position of the operating member 13. The second sensor 23 outputs the detection result to the notification unit 25.
[0047] The alarm unit 25 is activated when the first sensor 21 detects the insertion of the electric wire 100 and the second sensor 23 detects the engagement between the latch member 11 and the operating member 13. The alarm unit 25 issues an alarm by a predetermined means (method) based on the detection results output from the first sensor 21 and the second sensor 23. The alarm unit 25 may output a sound such as a buzzer, or may output a light such as an LED. The alarm unit 25 may also be a display unit (such as a liquid crystal screen or a 7-segment display). The alarm unit 25 may also output an alarm signal to the outside. In this case, an alarm sound or the like may be emitted in an external device.
[0048] In this configuration, when the latch member 11 and the operating member 13 are engaged with each other while the electric wire 100 is inserted into the insertion hole, i.e., when the electric wire 100 has not reached the specified position, the alarm unit 25 is activated to issue an alarm. This allows the worker or the like to know that the electric wire 100 is not inserted sufficiently. This causes the electric wire 100 to be further inserted until the electric wire 100 reaches the specified position. As a result, the connection mechanism 9 operates, and the electric wire is held by the holder 7. [Explanation of symbols]

A quick-connect terminal electrically connected to an electric wire, a main body having an insertion hole into which the electric wire is inserted; a terminal accommodated in the main body and in contact with the electric wire to be electrically connected to the electric wire; a holder that is housed in the main body and holds the electric wire in contact with the terminal; a connection mechanism that enables the holder to hold the electric wire when the electric wire is inserted into the main body through the insertion hole and the electric wire is inserted to a specified position in the main body.
2. The connection mechanism includes: a first member that comes into contact with the electric wire when the electric wire reaches the specified position and moves in conjunction with the movement of the electric wire in the insertion direction; a second member movable between a first position that does not allow contact between the electric wire and the holder and a second position that allows contact between the electric wire and the holder, the second member is located at the first position when engaged with the first member and is located at the second position when disengaged from the first member; 2. The quick connect terminal of claim 1, wherein movement of said first member disengages said first member from said second member and moves said second member from said first position to said second position.
3. 3. The quick-connect terminal according to claim 2, wherein the first member has a push-back member that contacts a tip of the electric wire and pushes back the electric wire in a direction in which the electric wire is removed from the main body.
4. The holder is a pressing portion that urges the electric wire toward the terminal to press the electric wire; a restricting portion that contacts the electric wire and restricts the electric wire from moving in a direction in which the electric wire is removed from the main body, The quick-connect terminal according to claim 2 , wherein the connection mechanism enables contact between the restricting portion and the electric wire when the electric wire is inserted up to the specified position in the main body.
5. a first detection unit that detects that the electric wire is inserted into the insertion hole; a second detection unit that detects engagement between the first member and the second member; 3. The quick-connect terminal according to claim 2, further comprising: an alarm that operates when the first detection portion detects the electric wire and when the second detection portion detects engagement between the first member and the second member.
