Abstract
Description
[Technical field]
[0001] FIELD OF THE DISCLOSURE The present disclosure relates to automotive weatherstrips that are attached to vehicle doors. [Background technology]
[0002] For example, as disclosed in Patent Document 1, a weather strip is attached to the periphery of an automobile door to seal between the door and the vehicle body. A cross section of the weather strip of Patent Document 1 is shown in Fig. 6. As shown in Fig. 6, a door 410 to which a weather strip 400 of Patent Document 1 is attached has a first panel portion 411 extending in the thickness direction of the door 410 and a second panel portion 412 connected to an end portion of the first panel portion 411, and the first panel portion 411 and the second panel portion 412 are positioned so as to be substantially perpendicular to each other.
[0003] The weatherstrip 400 has an attachment plate portion 401 attached to a first panel portion 411, and a hollow seal portion 402. A seal protrusion 403 that protrudes toward a second panel portion 412 and elastically contacts the second panel portion 412 is provided on the vehicle exterior side of the hollow seal portion 402. When the door 410 is closed, the hollow seal portion 402 elastically contacts the body panel 420, deforming and coming into close contact as shown by the imaginary line, thereby sealing between the peripheral portion of the door 410 and the body panel 420.
[0004] Also, although not shown, Figure 2 of Patent Document 2 discloses a structure for fixing a door weatherstrip 4 to an inner plate 12 of a door panel 1 at the lower edge (side sill portion) S of an automobile front door, in which the outer periphery of the door trim 3 is adapted to fit along the outer periphery of the inner plate 12 and its tip is extended to a position covering the interior end of a mounting base 41 of the door weatherstrip 4, and the interior end edge of the mounting base 41 is pressed against the inner plate 12 by the outer periphery of the door trim 3, thereby fixing the door weatherstrip 4 to the inner plate 12. [0005] [Patent Document 1] Japanese Patent Application Publication No. 8-91048 [Patent Document 2] Japanese Patent Application Publication No. 7-117473 Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]
[0006] Door 410 and body panel 420 shown in Fig. 6 show a cross-sectional layout at hinge portion H of an automobile, but usually, in most cases, weatherstrip 400 shown in Fig. 6 uses a weatherstrip with the same extruded cross-sectional shape over hinge portion H, lower portion (side sill portion) S, and lock portion L. Here, because of hinge portion H in Fig. 6, when door 410 is closed, the entry trajectory causes hollow portion 402 to bend toward first panel 411 (in direction A), but in the lower portion (side sill portion) S and lock portion L, the entry trajectory causes hollow portion 402 to bend toward second panel 412 (in direction D) when door 410 is closed.
[0007] However, due to design requirements of an automobile, for example, it is conceivable that the second panel portion 412 may be formed at an obtuse angle to the first panel portion 411 at the bottom side (side sill portion) S and the lock portion L, as shown by the imaginary line second panel portion 412 in Fig. 6. In this case, the first panel portion 411 and the second panel portion 412 have an open shape, so that the seal protrusion 403 of the weatherstrip 400 becomes separated from the second panel portion 412.
[0008] To address this issue, it is possible to significantly extend the sealing protrusion 403, but if the sealing protrusion 403 is significantly extended to increase the amount of overlap, the reaction force that the sealing protrusion 403 receives from the second panel portion 412 will increase, causing the problem that the inside or outside side of the mounting plate portion 401 of the weatherstrip 400 will be more likely to lift up from the first panel portion 411.
[0009] Furthermore, by adopting the structure disclosed in Figure 2 of Patent Document 2, it would be possible to prevent the weather strip from lifting up from the door panel at the lower edge (side sill portion) S, but if a similar structure were to be adopted for the hinge portion H and lock portion L, it would be easy to predict that the installation work would take a long time to hold down the weather strip over a long area with the interior trim without it being fixed with clips, making it difficult to adopt.
[0010] The present disclosure has been made in consideration of the above points, and has as its object to ensure sufficient sealing performance by preventing the weather strip from lifting up from the door panel. [Means for solving the problem]
[0011] In order to achieve the above object, a first aspect of the present disclosure can be based on an automobile weather strip including a mounting plate portion attached along a mounting surface extending in the interior and exterior directions of an automobile door, and a hollow seal portion that elastically contacts a periphery of a door opening in a body of the automobile when the door is closed. The automobile weather strip includes an interior connecting wall protruding from the interior side of the mounting plate portion, an exterior connecting wall protruding from the exterior side of the mounting plate portion and formed so as to be positioned on the exterior side of the automobile as it approaches its tip and formed longer than the interior connecting wall, and a back seal protrusion protruding from the tip of the exterior connecting wall toward the exterior of the automobile and abutting against a back surface extending from the exterior end of the mounting surface toward the exterior of the automobile and in a direction away from the mounting surface, the base end side of the back seal protrusion protruding in a direction away from the mounting plate portion beyond the tip of the exterior connecting wall. and a bridge portion which forms the base end of the seal protrusion, extends from the exterior tip end of the interior connecting wall to the base end of the rear seal protrusion, and forms a hollow portion together with the mounting plate portion, the interior connecting wall, the exterior connecting wall and the rear seal protrusion, and the connection portion between the exterior wall and the bridge portion which forms the hollow seal portion of the automotive weather strip is positioned on the interior side of the vehicle than the tip end of the exterior connecting wall and the base end of the rear seal protrusion, and is farther from the mounting plate portion than the tip end of the exterior connecting wall and the base end of the rear seal protrusion.
[0012] With this configuration, when the door is closed, the periphery of the door opening in the body of the automobile elastically contacts the hollow seal portion, the hollow seal portion deforms between the mounting surface of the door and the periphery of the door opening, and the interior side wall comes into close contact with the periphery of the door opening. The exterior side wall forming the hollow seal portion is positioned closer to the exterior side of the vehicle as it approaches its base end, and the connection portion between the exterior side wall and the bridge portion is positioned further inward than the tip end of the exterior side connecting wall and the base end of the rear seal projection and farther from the mounting plate portion than the tip end of the exterior side connecting wall and the base end of the rear seal projection, so that the exterior side wall is pressed in a direction approaching the mounting surface and the rear face and displaced in the same direction.
[0013] The bridge portion is pressed by this exterior wall in a direction approaching the rear surface and displaced in the same direction. At this time, since the exterior end of the bridge portion and the base end of the rear seal protrusion are connected, the rear seal protrusion is pressed against the rear surface. In addition, the exterior connecting wall protruding from the exterior side of the mounting plate portion is formed so that the tip is positioned further outward from the vehicle, and since the tip of the exterior connecting wall is connected to the rear seal protrusion, the exterior connecting wall also deforms so as to fall toward the exterior of the vehicle in a direction approaching the rear surface. As a result, the exterior wall, bridge portion, rear seal protrusion, and exterior connecting wall deform in this order, so that the rear seal protrusion can be reliably abutted against the rear surface formed on the door.
[0014] In a second aspect, the thickness of the bridge portion may be set to be thicker than the thickness of the vehicle exterior side wall, and the thickness of the base end of the rear seal protrusion in the protruding direction may be set to be thicker than the thickness of the bridge portion.
[0015] With this configuration, the vehicle exterior wall is easily bent when the door is closed, allowing the hollow seal portion to be reliably attached to the periphery of the door opening, while the bridge portion and the protruding base end of the rear seal projection are less likely to bend, allowing the rear seal projection to be firmly abutted against the rear surface of the door by the pressing force acting from the periphery of the door opening.
[0016] In a third aspect, the bridge portion and the rear seal projection may be curved so as to be convex in a direction away from the mounting plate portion. This causes the bridge portion and the rear seal projection to be formed so as to be convex in a direction in which a pressing force acts from the periphery of the door opening when the door is closed, so that the pressing force can reliably bring the rear seal projection into contact with the rear surface formed on the door.
[0017] In a fourth aspect, the surface of the bridge portion that does not face the mounting plate portion and the surface of the rear seal protrusion that does not face the mounting plate portion may be continuous and approximately flush with each other.
[0018] With this configuration, when a pressing force acts from the periphery of the door opening when the door is closed, the force is easily transmitted directly from the bridge portion to the rear seal projection.
[0019] In a fifth aspect, a seal lip may be provided at an end portion of the mounting plate portion on the outer side of the vehicle compartment, the seal lip protruding toward the rear surface and elastically contacting the rear surface. In this case, the thickness of a base end portion of the seal lip may be set to be thinner than the thickness of a base end portion of the rear seal projection.
[0020] According to this configuration, the seal lip is brought into elastic contact with the rear surface formed on the door, thereby further improving the sealing performance. Effect of the Invention
[0021] As described above, when the door is closed, the deformation of the hollow seal portion can be utilized to firmly and reliably abut the rear seal protrusion against the door, thereby preventing the weather strip from lifting up from the door panel and ensuring sufficient sealing performance. [0023] Hereinafter, the embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings. Note that the following description of the preferred embodiments is merely illustrative in nature and is not intended to limit the present invention, its applications, or its uses.
[0024] FIG. 1 is a left side view of an automobile 100 equipped with an automobile weather strip according to an embodiment of the present invention. [0027] The window frame 213 of the rear door 210 has a frame front vertical side portion 213a extending upward from the upper front end portion of the door main body portion 211, a frame upper side portion 213b extending rearward from the upper end portion of the frame front vertical side portion 213a, and a frame rear vertical side portion 213c extending downward from the rear end portion (longitudinal end portion) of the frame upper side portion 213b to the upper rear end portion of the door main body portion 211.
[0028] (Overall structure of front door weather strip 1) 2 shows a front door weatherstrip (weatherstrip for automobiles) 1. The front door weatherstrip 1 is formed in an annular shape to correspond to the outer shape of the front door 110, and has a front upper edge extrusion portion 1A, a rear upper edge extrusion portion 1B, a rear vertical edge extrusion portion 1C, a bottom edge extrusion portion 1D, and a front vertical edge extrusion portion 1E. Details of the molding method will be described later, but the front upper edge extrusion portion 1A, the rear upper edge extrusion portion 1B, the rear vertical edge extrusion portion 1C, the bottom edge extrusion portion 1D, and the front vertical edge extrusion portion 1E are extrusion portions molded by an extrusion molding method in which an elastic material is extruded from a die (not shown) and molded to have the same cross section in the longitudinal direction. Furthermore, the front door weather strip 1 has a front mold portion 1F provided between the front end portion of the front upper edge extrusion portion 1A and the upper end portion of the front vertical edge extrusion portion 1E, an intermediate mold portion 1G provided between the rear end portion of the front upper edge extrusion portion 1A and the front end portion of the rear upper edge extrusion portion 1B, and a rear mold portion 1H provided between the rear end portion of the rear upper edge extrusion portion 1B and the upper end portion of the rear vertical edge extrusion portion 1C.
[0029] The boundary between the front vertical side extrusion portion 1E and the front mold portion 1F is indicated by the symbol L1, and the boundary between the front upper side extrusion portion 1A and the front mold portion 1F is indicated by the symbol L2. The boundary between the rear vertical side extrusion portion 1C and the rear mold portion 1H is indicated by the symbol L3. The boundary between the rear upper side extrusion portion 1B and the rear mold portion 1H is indicated by the symbol L4. The boundary between the front upper side extrusion portion 1A and the intermediate mold portion 1G is indicated by the symbol L5. [0030] The front mold part 1F, the intermediate mold part 1G, and the rear mold part 1H are parts molded by a die (described later) that can be opened and closed, and are therefore mold parts. The front mold part 1F is molded integrally with the front end part of the front upper edge extrusion part 1A and the upper end part of the front vertical edge extrusion part 1E by injecting an elastic material into the cavity while the front end part of the front upper edge extrusion part 1A and the upper end part of the front vertical edge extrusion part 1E are held by the die. The intermediate mold part 1G is molded integrally with the front upper edge extrusion part 1A and the rear upper edge extrusion part 1B by injecting an elastic material into the cavity while the rear end part of the front upper edge extrusion part 1A and the front end part of the rear upper edge extrusion part 1B are held by the die. The rear mold part 1H is molded integrally with the rear upper edge extrusion part 1B and the rear vertical edge extrusion part 1C by injecting an elastic material into the cavity while the rear end of the rear upper edge extrusion part 1B and the upper end of the rear vertical edge extrusion part 1C are held by a mold. For example, the rear upper edge extrusion part 1B and the rear mold part 1H are provided across the frame upper edge part 113b of the window frame 113 and the frame rear vertical edge part 113c extending downward from the rear end thereof.
[0031] In addition, the applicable material for the front door weather strip 1 is not particularly limited as long as it is a rubber-like elastic body, but in the case of rubber, EPDM sponge rubber is preferable, and in the case of thermoplastic resin, foamed TPO or soft TPO is preferable.
[0032] (Overall structure of rear door weather strip) 3 shows a weather strip 300 for a rear door. The weather strip 300 for a rear door is formed in an annular shape to correspond to the outer shape of the rear door 210, and has a front upper edge extrusion portion 300A, a rear upper edge extrusion portion 300B, a bottom edge extrusion portion 300C, and a front vertical edge extrusion portion 300D. The front upper edge extrusion portion 300A, the rear upper edge extrusion portion 300B, the bottom edge extrusion portion 300C, and the front vertical edge extrusion portion 300D are extrusion portions formed by an extrusion molding method in which an elastic material is extruded from a die (not shown) to form the extrusion portion. Furthermore, the rear door weather strip 300 has a front mold portion 300E provided between the upper end of the front vertical edge extrusion portion 300D and the front end of the front upper edge extrusion portion 300A, an intermediate mold portion 300F provided between the rear end of the front upper edge extrusion portion 300A and the front end of the rear upper edge extrusion portion 300B, and a rear mold portion 300G provided between the rear end of the rear upper edge extrusion portion 300B and the rear end of the lower edge extrusion portion 300C.
[0033] The boundary between the front vertical side extrusion section 300D and the front mold section 300E is indicated by L7, and the boundary between the front mold section 300E and the front upper side extrusion section 300A is indicated by L8. The boundary between the rear upper side extrusion section 300B and the rear mold section 300G is indicated by L11, and the boundary between the rear mold section 300G and the lower side extrusion section 300C is indicated by L12.
[0034] The front mold part 300E, the intermediate mold part 300F, and the rear mold part 300G are parts molded by a mold that can be opened and closed, and therefore are mold parts. The front mold part 300E is molded integrally with the upper end of the front vertical side extrusion part 300D and the front end of the front upper side extrusion part 300A by injecting an elastic material into the cavity while the upper end of the front vertical side extrusion part 300D and the front end of the front upper side extrusion part 300A are held by the mold. The intermediate mold part 300F is molded integrally with the rear end of the front upper side extrusion part 300A and the front end of the rear upper side extrusion part 300B by injecting an elastic material into the cavity while the rear end of the front upper side extrusion part 300A and the front end of the rear upper side extrusion part 300B are held by the mold. The rear mold portion 300G is integrally molded with the rear end portion of the rear upper edge extrusion portion 300B and the rear end portion of the bottom edge extrusion portion 300C by injecting an elastic material into the cavity while the rear end portion of the rear upper edge extrusion portion 300B and the rear end portion of the bottom edge extrusion portion 300C are held in a mold.
[0035] (Front door and body structure) 4, the door body 111 of the front door 110 is formed by bending a metal plate. The vehicle exterior side, vehicle interior side, upper side, and lower side of the door body 111 are defined as follows.
[0036] In this embodiment shown in Figure 4, similar to Figure 2 of Patent Document 2, the cross section is of the lower edge portion (side sill portion) S of an automobile's front door, so the direction away from the mounting surface 111d described later is indicated as the "lower side," and the direction approaching the mounting surface 111d described later is indicated as the "upper side."
[0037] The door main body 111 has a mounting surface 111d to which the front door weather strip 1 is attached, and a back surface 111e. The mounting surface 111d extends in the vehicle interior / exterior direction. The back surface 111e extends from the vehicle exterior end of the mounting surface 111d toward the vehicle exterior and in a direction away from the mounting surface 111d obliquely downward. In this embodiment, the angle between the mounting surface 111d and the back surface 111e exceeds 90 degrees, and is specifically set in the range of 110 degrees to 130 degrees. In other words, the door main body 111 is formed so that the mounting surface 111d and the back surface 111e open.
[0038] A door opening that is opened and closed by the front door 110 is provided in the body 140 of the automobile 100. The periphery 141 of this door opening is formed to bulge upward. Arrow B in FIG. 4 indicates the trajectory along which the front door 110 moves when the front door 110 is closed from an open state. In this manner, the front door 110 moves obliquely downward toward the inside of the vehicle. The door main body 111, the body 140, and the front door weather strip 1 form a seal structure for an automobile.
[0039] (Detailed structure of front door weather strip 1) Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in terms of its application to the lower edge extrusion portion 1D of the front door weather strip 1, but the present invention is not limited to this application, and can also be applied to other portions, such as the front vertical edge extrusion portion 1E and the rear vertical edge extrusion portion 1C of the front door weather strip 1. It can also be applied to the lower side portion 300C of the rear door weather strip 300 and the front vertical side extrusion portion 300D, etc.
[0040] As shown in FIG. 4, the front door weather strip 1 includes a mounting plate 10 and a hollow seal portion 11. The mounting plate 10 is formed to fit along a mounting surface 111d of a door body 111 of a front door 110, and is a portion that is attached along the mounting surface 111d. The mounting plate 10 is provided with clip insertion holes, through which clips (not shown) are inserted, at intervals in the longitudinal direction of the front door weather strip 1. The clips are adapted to engage with engagement holes (not shown) formed in the mounting surface 111d when inserted therein. Thus, the mounting plate 10 is fixed to the mounting surface 111d at a plurality of longitudinal points by the clips.
[0041] 5, the hollow seal portion 11 is a portion that elastically contacts a door opening peripheral edge 141 in a body 140 of an automobile 100 when the front door 110 is closed. The hollow seal portion 11 that elastically contacts the door opening peripheral edge 141 deforms to fit along the door opening peripheral edge 141 and adheres closely to the door opening peripheral edge 141.
[0042] As shown in Fig. 4, the front door weather strip 1 includes an interior connecting wall 12 that protrudes from the interior side of the mounting plate portion 10, and an exterior connecting wall 13 that protrudes from the exterior side of the mounting plate portion 10. The interior end of the mounting plate portion 10 is located further inward than the base end of the interior connecting wall 12. The exterior end of the mounting plate portion 10 is located further outward than the base end of the exterior connecting wall 13. The interior and exterior ends of the mounting plate portion 10 are formed with protrusions 10a, 10b that protrude toward the mounting surface 111d, respectively.
[0043] The exterior connecting wall 13 is formed so that the closer it is to the tip, the more exterior the vehicle is positioned. The exterior connecting wall 13 is inclined with respect to the mounting plate portion 10, so that the closer it is to the tip, the more exterior the vehicle is positioned. The exterior connecting wall 13 is also gently curved so as to be convex in the direction away from the mounting plate portion 10. The cross-sectional dimension of the exterior connecting wall 13 is set to be longer than the cross-sectional dimension of the interior connecting wall 12, so that the tip of the exterior connecting wall 13 is positioned in a direction away from the mounting plate portion 10 than the tip of the interior connecting wall 12.
[0044] The front door weather strip 1 has a bridge portion 14 extending from the vehicle-exterior tip portion 12a of the vehicle-interior connecting wall 12 to a base end portion 16a of a rear seal projection 16 described later. The bridge portion 14 forms a hollow portion R together with the mounting plate portion 10, the vehicle-interior connecting wall 12, the vehicle-exterior connecting wall 13, and the rear seal projection 16 described later. An end portion of the bridge portion 14 on the vehicle interior side is connected to the vehicle-exterior tip portion 12a of the vehicle-interior connecting wall 12, and an end portion of the bridge portion 14 on the vehicle exterior side is connected to a base end portion 16a of the rear seal projection 16 described later. The mounting plate portion 10, the vehicle-interior connecting wall 12, the vehicle-exterior connecting wall 13, the rear seal projection 16, and the bridge portion 14 are integrally molded.
[0045] The bridge portion 14 extends in the vehicle interior / exterior direction, and is formed so as to be located in a direction away from the mounting plate portion 10 as it moves toward the exterior of the vehicle. Therefore, the distance in the cross-sectional direction between the mounting plate portion 10 and the bridge portion 14 becomes larger as it moves toward the exterior of the vehicle.
[0046] The hollow seal portion 11 is composed of an interior side wall 11a and an exterior side wall 11b, and is a hollow portion. The interior side wall 11a extends from an interior side tip portion 12b of the interior side connecting wall 12 toward the door opening periphery 141, and is integrally formed with the interior side connecting wall 12. A portion of the interior side wall 11a on the base end side from the center extends toward the interior side of the vehicle and is formed so as to be located in a direction away from the mounting plate portion 10 as it approaches the interior side of the vehicle. A portion of the interior side wall 11a on the tip side from the center extends in a direction away from the mounting plate portion 10.
[0047] The vehicle exterior side wall 11b is a wall portion that forms the hollow seal portion 11 together with the vehicle interior side wall 11a and the bridge portion 14. In addition, a base end portion of the vehicle exterior side wall 11b is integrated with the bridge portion 14.
[0048] The portion of the exterior wall 11b closer to the base end than the center extends toward the interior of the vehicle and is formed so as to be located in a direction away from the mounting plate portion 10 as it approaches the interior of the vehicle. The portion of the exterior wall 11b closer to the tip end than the center extends while curving toward the interior of the vehicle. As a result, the width of the hollow seal portion 11 becomes wider as it approaches the base end side and narrower as it approaches the tip end side.
[0049] The outer side wall 11b is formed so that the closer it is to the tip, the closer it is to the inner side of the vehicle. Arrow B in Fig. 4 indicates the approach trajectory of the front door 110, and when the front door 110 in the open state is closed, the front door 110 moves in the direction along the arrow B. Therefore, when the front door 110 is closed, the direction of the pressing force that the outer side wall 11b receives from the door opening periphery 141 is the direction indicated by the arrow C, which is opposite to the arrow B, and the outer side wall 11b extends along the direction indicated by the arrow C.
[0050] The hollow seal portion 11 is formed by connecting the tip of the interior side wall 11a and the tip of the exterior side wall 11b. The connection between the tip of the interior side wall 11a and the tip of the exterior side wall 11b is located at the tip of the hollow seal portion 11, but since the interior side wall 11a and the exterior side wall 11b are integrally molded, there is no line indicating the boundary between the interior side wall 11a and the exterior side wall 11b. In addition, the tip of the hollow seal portion 11 protrudes toward the interior side of the vehicle beyond the interior side end of the mounting plate portion 10 (so as to elastically contact the door opening periphery 141 in the mounting design state).
[0051] The front door weather strip 1 includes a rear seal protrusion 16 that elastically contacts the rear surface 111e of the door main body 111. The rear seal protrusion 16 protrudes from the tip 13a of the exterior connecting wall 13 toward the exterior of the vehicle, and is formed to abut against the rear surface 111e that extends from the exterior end of the mounting surface 111d toward the exterior of the vehicle and away from the mounting surface 111d. The base end side of the rear seal protrusion 16 forms a base end 16a of the rear seal protrusion 16 that protrudes in a direction away from the mounting plate 10 beyond the tip 13a of the exterior connecting wall 13. The bridge portion 14 extends from the exterior tip 12a of the interior connecting wall 12 to the base end 16a of the rear seal protrusion 16, and forms a hollow portion R together with the mounting plate 10, the interior connecting wall 12, the exterior connecting wall 13, and the rear seal protrusion 16. The connection portion 11c between the vehicle exterior wall 11b and the bridge portion 14 that constitute the hollow seal portion 11 is positioned on the vehicle interior side relative to the tip portion 13a of the vehicle exterior connecting wall 13 and the base end portion 16a of the rear seal protrusion 16, and farther from the mounting plate portion 10 than the tip portion 13a of the vehicle exterior connecting wall 13 and the base end portion 16a of the rear seal protrusion 16.
[0052] The protruding length of the rear seal projection 16 is set so that the tip 16b of the rear seal projection 16 abuts against the rear surface 111e when the front door weather strip 1 is in the correct mounting position.
[0053] The thickness of the rear seal projection 16 is set so that the thickness T3 at the base end 16a is the thickest and becomes thinner toward the tip end 16b, so that the cross-sectional shape of the rear seal projection 16 becomes pointed toward the tip.
[0054] The thickness T1 of the bridge portion 14 is set to be thicker than the thickness T2 of the vehicle exterior side wall 11b. Further, the thickness T3 of the base end 16a of the rear seal projection 16 is set to be thicker than the thickness T1 of the bridge portion.
[0055] In addition, when comparing the thickness T3 of the base end 16a of the rear seal projection 16 with the thickness T2 of the vehicle exterior side wall 11b, the thickness T3 of the base end 16a of the rear seal projection 16 is set to be thicker. The thickness T4 of the vehicle interior side wall 11a is set to be approximately equal to the thickness T2 of the vehicle exterior side wall 11b.
[0056] Further, the thickness T5 of the interior connecting wall 12 is set to be thicker than the thickness T2 of the exterior wall 11b and the thickness T4 of the interior wall 11a.
[0057] Further, the thickness T6 of the vehicle-exterior connecting wall 13 is set to be thicker than the thickness T2 of the vehicle-exterior wall 11b and the thickness T4 of the vehicle-interior wall 11a. Furthermore, comparing the thickness T5 of the interior connecting wall 12 and the thickness T6 of the exterior connecting wall 13, the thickness T5 of the interior connecting wall 12 is set to be thicker. In other words, the thickness of the interior wall 11a and the exterior wall 11b formed by the hollow seal portion 11 is thinner than the thickness of the portion forming the hollow portion R.
[0058] The bridge portion 14 and the rear seal projection 16 are curved so as to be convex in the direction (downward) away from the mounting plate portion 10. A surface 14c of the bridge portion 14 that does not face the mounting plate portion 10 and a surface 16c of the rear seal projection 16 that does not face the mounting plate portion 10 (hereinafter abbreviated to the lower surface) are continuous and substantially flush with each other.
[0059] That is, since the bridge portion 14 is curved so as to be convex as a whole in the direction away from the mounting plate portion 10 (downward), the lower surface 14c of the bridge portion 14 is also configured with a curved surface that is curved so as to be convex as a whole in the direction away from the mounting plate portion 10 (downward). Since the rear seal protrusion 16 is also curved so as to be convex as a whole in the direction away from the mounting plate portion 10 (downward), the lower surface 16c of the rear seal protrusion 16 is also configured with a curved surface that is curved so as to be convex as a whole in the direction away from the mounting plate portion 10 (downward).
[0060] The inboard end of the underside 16c of the rear seal protrusion 16 is continuous with the outboard end of the underside 14c of the bridge portion 14, so that the underside 14c of the bridge portion 14 and the underside 16c of the rear seal protrusion 16 are approximately flush with each other, forming a single curved surface that convex in the direction away from the mounting plate portion 10 (downward).
[0061] A seal lip 17 is provided at the end of the mounting plate 10 on the outer side of the vehicle compartment, protruding toward the rear surface 111e of the door main body 111 and elastically contacting the rear surface 111e. The seal lip 17 is located closer to the mounting plate 10 than the rear seal protrusion 16. A thickness T7 of a base end of the seal lip 17 is set to be thinner than a thickness T3 of a base end of the rear seal protrusion 16. This makes it easier for the seal lip 17 to bend and deform in a direction away from the mounting plate 10, starting from the vicinity of the base end.
[0062] (Effects of the embodiment) When the mounting plate portion 10 of the front door weather strip 1 is attached to the mounting surface 111d of the door body portion 111 of the front door 110, the rear seal protrusion 16 abuts against the rear surface 111e, and the seal lip 17 elastically contacts the rear surface 111e in a direction closer to the mounting plate portion 10 than the rear seal protrusion 16.
[0063] When the front door 110 is closed from an open state, a door opening peripheral edge 141 in a body 140 of the automobile 100 elastically contacts the hollow seal portion 11, and the hollow seal portion 11 receives a pressing force in the direction of arrow C shown in Fig. 4 from the door opening peripheral edge 141. When the hollow seal portion 11 receives the pressing force in the direction of arrow C, the vehicle interior side wall 11a and the vehicle exterior side wall 11b deform between the mounting surface 111d and the door opening peripheral edge 141, and the vehicle interior side wall 11a of the hollow seal portion 11 comes into close contact with the door opening peripheral edge 141, as shown in Fig. 5.
[0064] At this time, the connection portion 11c between the vehicle exterior wall 11b and the bridge portion 14 forming the hollow seal portion 11 is located on the vehicle interior side of the tip portion 13a of the vehicle exterior connecting wall 13 and the base end portion 16a of the rear seal protrusion 16 and is located farther from the mounting plate portion 10 than the tip portion 13a of the vehicle exterior connecting wall 13 and the base end portion 16a of the rear seal protrusion 16, so the vehicle exterior wall 11b is pressed in a direction approaching the mounting surface 111d and the rear face 111e and displaced in the same direction. The vehicle exterior wall 11b presses the bridge portion 14 in a direction approaching the rear face 111e and displaces in the same direction. At this time, the vehicle exterior end portion of the bridge portion 14 and the base end portion 16a of the rear seal protrusion 16 are connected, so the rear seal protrusion 16 is pressed against the rear face 111e.
[0065] In addition, the vehicle-exterior connecting wall 13 protruding from the vehicle-exterior side of the mounting plate portion 10 is formed so that the tip is positioned further outward from the vehicle, and since the tip portion 13a of the vehicle-exterior connecting wall 13 is connected to the rear seal projection 16, the vehicle-exterior connecting wall 13 also deforms so as to fall toward the vehicle exterior in a direction approaching the rear face 111e. As a result, the vehicle-exterior wall 11b, the bridge portion 14, the rear seal projection 16, and the vehicle-exterior connecting wall 13 deform in this order, so that the rear seal projection 16 can be reliably brought into contact with the rear face 111e formed on the door 110.
[0066] In addition, the protruding length of the rear seal protrusion 16 is set so that the tip 16b of the rear seal protrusion 16 abuts against the rear surface 111e when the front door weatherstrip 1 is in the correct installation position, and the rear seal protrusion 16 has a smaller overlap amount in the design standard than the rear seal lip 17, so that when the front door is closed, the front door weatherstrip 1 does not lift up from the rear surface 111e, ensuring sufficient sealing performance.
[0067] Furthermore, since the thickness T1 of the bridge portion 14 is set to be thicker than the thickness T2 of the vehicle exterior wall 11b and the thickness T3 of the base end portion 16a of the rear seal projection 16 is set to be thicker than the thickness T1 of the bridge portion 14, the vehicle exterior wall 11b becomes more flexible when the front door 110 is closed, so that the vehicle interior wall 11a of the hollow seal portion 11 can be reliably brought into close contact with the door opening peripheral edge 141. On the other hand, the bridge portion 14 and the base end portion 16a of the rear seal projection 16 become less flexible, so that the pressing force acting from the door opening peripheral edge 141 can cause the rear seal projection 16 to make strong elastic contact with the rear surface 111e.
[0068] In addition, the bridge portion 14 and the rear seal projection 16 are curved so as to be convex in a direction away from the mounting plate portion 10. As a result, the bridge portion 14 and the rear seal projection 16 are formed so as to be convex in a direction in which a pressing force acts from the door opening periphery 141 when the front door 110 is closed, so that the pressing force can reliably bring the rear seal projection 16 into contact with the rear surface 111e.
[0069] In addition, the surface (lower surface) 14c of the bridge portion 14 that does not face the mounting plate portion 10 and the surface (lower surface) 16c of the rear seal protrusion 16 that does not face the mounting plate portion 10 are continuous so as to be approximately flush with each other. Therefore, when a pressing force is applied from the door opening periphery 141 when the front door 110 is closed, the bridge portion 14 is pressed against the rear seal protrusion 16c. This makes it easier for force to be transmitted directly to 16.
[0070] Furthermore, a seal lip 17 is provided at the end of the mounting plate portion 10 facing outside the vehicle compartment and is in elastic contact with the back surface 111e, thereby further improving the sealing performance.
[0071] The above-mentioned embodiment is merely illustrative in all respects and should not be interpreted as being restrictive. The present invention can be applied to the rear vertical side extrusion portion 1C and the front vertical side extrusion portion 1E of the front door, and can also be applied to the front vertical side extrusion portion 300D of the rear door and the bottom side extrusion portion 300C of the rear door (not shown).
[0072] The present invention can also be applied to an automobile in which the first panel 411 and the second panel 412 shown in FIG. 6 are positioned so as to intersect at right angles (not shown).
[0073] Furthermore, all modifications and variations that fall within the scope of the claims are within the scope of the present invention. [Industrial Applicability]
