FIG. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

[0007] The present invention will first be briefly described below. In order to solve the above problem, a recording device according to a first aspect of the present invention includes a recording head mounted on a reciprocating carriage for recording on a medium, an ejection roller for ejecting the medium on which recording has been performed, and a medium receiving tray for receiving the medium ejected by the ejection roller, the medium receiving tray being capable of taking a first state and a second state displaced from the first state in the ejection direction of the medium, a motor as a power source for the ejection roller, a power transmission state for transmitting the power of the motor from the motor to the medium receiving tray, and a power transmission state for transmitting the power of the motor from the motor to the medium receiving tray. The carriage is rotated to a contact position where it can come into contact with the carriage as the carriage moves back and forth, and a non-contact position where it does not come into contact with the carriage even when the carriage moves, and when in the contact position, it comes into contact with the carriage and slides as the carriage moves back and forth, thereby switching between the power non-transmission state and the power transmission state.

[0008] According to this aspect, the recording device includes a switching lever section that switches the power transmission section between a power non-transmission state and a power transmission state, and the switching lever section rotates between a contact position where it can contact the carriage as the carriage reciprocates and a non-contact position where it does not contact the carriage even if the carriage moves, and when in the contact position, it comes into contact with the carriage as the carriage reciprocates and slides, thereby switching between the power non-transmission state and the power transmission state. With this configuration, the power switching mechanism and the switching lever section for switching the power transmission section between the power non-transmission state and the power transmission state can be suitably arranged, and the entire mechanism for switching the medium receiving tray between the first state and the second state can be made smaller. This also makes it possible to make the entire recording device smaller.

[0009] A recording device according to a second aspect of the present invention is an aspect dependent on the first aspect, and is characterized in that at least the tip of the switching lever portion enters the reciprocating movement range of the carriage at the contact position, and the tip of the switching lever portion exits the reciprocating movement range of the carriage at the non-contact position.

[0010] According to this aspect, at least the tip of the switching lever portion enters the reciprocating movement range of the carriage at the contact position, and the tip of the switching lever portion retracts from the reciprocating movement range of the carriage at the non-contact position. In this way, by having the tip of the switching lever portion retract from the reciprocating movement range of the carriage at the non-contact position in the power non-transmitting state, it is possible to eliminate the need to provide the switching lever portion outside the reciprocating movement range of the carriage, and it is possible to particularly reduce the size of the recording device.

[0011] A recording device according to a third aspect of the present invention is an aspect dependent on the second aspect, characterized in that the carriage is provided with a non-permissible portion that does not permit contact with the switching lever portion, and a guard portion is provided around the non-permissible portion to guard the non-permissible portion, and the tip portion is provided with an opposing surface that faces the guard portion.

[0012] According to this aspect, the carriage is provided with a guard portion around the non-permissible portion that does not allow contact with the switching lever portion, and the tip portion is provided with an opposing surface that faces the guard portion. Therefore, even if the tip portion may come into contact with the guard portion, the tip portion can be prevented from coming into contact with the non-permissible portion.

[0013] A recording device according to a fourth aspect of the present invention is an aspect dependent on any one of the first to third aspects, characterized in that the power transmission unit has a locking component that prevents rotation of a gear when in the non-power transmission state, and a transmission component that transmits the power of the motor when in the power transmission state, and the switching lever portion switches the connection of the locking component and the transmission component in the power transmission unit by coming into contact with and sliding against the carriage.

[0014] According to this aspect, the switching lever portion switches the connection between the locking component and the transmission component in the power transmission portion by sliding in contact with the carriage. With this configuration, it is possible to easily form a mechanism that prevents the transmission of power from the motor in the power non-transmission state and a mechanism that transmits power from the motor in the power transmission state.

[0015] A recording device according to a fifth aspect of the present invention is an aspect dependent on the fourth aspect, and is characterized in that the power transmission unit switches the connection from the locking part to the transmission part by applying an external load in a direction in which the switching lever part contacts the carriage and slides.

[0016] According to this aspect, the power transmission unit is switched from the locking component to the transmission component by applying an external load in the direction in which the switching lever unit comes into contact with the carriage and slides. With this configuration, for example, when the recording device is turned off, the user can manually switch between a power transmission state and a power non-transmission state.

[0017] A recording device according to a sixth aspect of the present invention is an aspect dependent on the fourth or fifth aspect, and is characterized in that the power transmission part has a cam having a cam surface, and a holding part that holds the locking part and the transmission part and has a pin arranged on the cam surface, and the pin moves along the cam surface to move between the non-power transmission state and the power transmission state.

[0018] According to this aspect, the power transmission unit moves between a power non-transmitting state and a power transmitting state by the pin of the holding unit that holds the locking component and the transmission component moving on the cam surface of the cam. With this configuration, the power transmission unit can be made compact, and the recording device can be made particularly compact.

[0019] A recording device according to a seventh aspect of the present invention is an aspect dependent on the sixth aspect, and is characterized in that the cam surface is provided with a planar portion on which the pin is positioned when the power transmission part is in the non-power transmission state, and a pin holding portion that holds the pin when the power transmission part is in the power transmission state.

[0020] According to this aspect, the cam surface is provided with a flat portion on which the pin is located when the power transmission unit is in a power non-transmitting state, and a pin holding portion that holds the pin when the power transmission unit is in a power transmitting state. With this configuration, it is possible to prevent the position of the pin from shifting when the power transmission unit is in a power transmitting state.

[0021] The recording device according to an eighth aspect of the present invention is an aspect dependent on any one of the first to seventh aspects, and is characterized in that it comprises a frame to which the discharge roller is attached, and the power transmission unit is provided in a unit that is separate from the frame and can be attached and detached to the frame.

[0022] According to this aspect, the power transmission unit is provided in a unit that is separate from the frame and is detachable from the frame. This configuration makes it easy to install the power transmission unit inside the recording device, and also makes it easy to replace and clean the power transmission unit.

[0023] A recording device according to a ninth aspect of the present invention is an aspect dependent on any one of the first to eighth aspects, and is characterized in that, when in the contact position, the switching lever portion can be positioned at a first contact position and a second contact position, both of which can come into contact with the carriage as the carriage moves back and forth.

[0024] According to this aspect, the switching lever portion can be positioned at a first contact position and a second contact position, both of which can come into contact with the carriage as the carriage reciprocates, and therefore, as necessary, the position of the switching lever portion can be changed while the switching lever portion is maintained in the contact position.

[0025] A recording device according to a tenth aspect of the present invention is an aspect dependent on the ninth aspect, and is characterized in that the switching lever portion can be positioned at the first contact position and the second contact position by rotating.

[0026] According to this aspect, the switching lever portion can be positioned at the first contact position and the second contact position by rotating, so that the position of the switching lever portion can be easily changed while the switching lever portion is maintained at the contact position.

[0027] An eleventh aspect of the present invention is a recording device according to the tenth aspect, characterized in that the switching lever portion has a portion that can come into contact with the carriage and that extends in the rotation direction.

[0028] According to this aspect, the switching lever portion has a portion that can come into contact with the carriage and that extends in the rotation direction. With this configuration, even if an error occurs in the arrangement of the switching lever portion at the first contact position or the second contact position, the switching lever portion can be preferably maintained at the contact position.

[0029] [Example 1] Hereinafter, the recording device 1 according to the first embodiment of the present invention will be specifically described with reference to FIG. 1 to FIG. 28. In the following description, three mutually orthogonal axes are designated as the X-axis, Y-axis, and Z-axis, as shown in each drawing. The Z-axis direction corresponds to the vertical direction, that is, the direction in which gravity acts. The X-axis and Y-axis directions correspond to the horizontal direction. In each drawing, the directions indicated by the arrows of the three axes (X, Y, Z) are the + directions of each direction. For example, the X-axis direction corresponds to the reciprocating movement direction of the carriage 3, the +X direction corresponds to the side where the power transmission unit 100 is provided, and the -X direction corresponds to the home position side of the carriage 3. The +Y direction corresponds to the ejection direction of the medium receiving tray 5.

[0030] As shown in Fig. 1, the recording device 1 of this embodiment includes a housing 2. A front cover 2a is provided as a part of the housing 2. The recording device 1 of this embodiment can be displaced from the left side of Fig. 1 to the right side of Fig. 1, and specifically, the medium receiving tray 5 is configured to be switchable between a first state, which is a stored state, and a second state, which is an expanded state, by a motor 6 shown in Fig. 2 and the like.

[0031] Here, the recording device 1 of this embodiment includes, inside the housing 2, a carriage 3 that reciprocates along the X-axis direction as shown in Figures 9 and 10, and a recording head 4 that is mounted on the carriage 3 and records on a medium as shown in Figures 23 and 24. The recording device 1 of this embodiment also includes, inside the housing 2, a transport roller 7 that transports the medium, and a discharge roller 8 that discharges the medium on which recording has been performed, as shown in Figure 2, etc. The recording device 1 of this embodiment also includes, inside the housing 2, a medium receiving tray 5 that receives the medium discharged by the discharge roller 8 as shown in Figures 9 and 10, etc., and a motor 6 that is a power source for the transport roller 7 and the discharge roller 8 as shown in Figure 2, etc.

[0032] Power is transmitted from the motor 6 to the transport roller 7 and the discharge roller 8 as follows. As shown in FIG. 6, a motor pulley 6a is attached to the motor 6. A belt 10 is stretched around the motor pulley 6a, and the belt 10 is wound around a transport roller pulley 7a provided on the transport roller 7, a discharge roller pulley 8a provided on the discharge roller 8, and a pulley 9. The motor 6 also rotates its rotating shaft, causing the motor pulley 6a to rotate, which in turn causes the belt 10 to rotate, and the transport roller 7 and the discharge roller 8 to rotate in conjunction with the rotation of the transport roller pulley 7a and the discharge roller pulley 8a. As shown in FIG. 7 and FIG. 12, the transport roller 7 is provided with an encoder 7b that measures the rotation of the transport roller 7.

[0033] As described above, the medium receiving tray 5 can be in a first state, which is a stored state, and a second state, which is an expanded state displaced from the first state in the direction in which the medium is discharged. Furthermore, the recording device 1 of this embodiment includes a power transmission unit 100 inside the housing 2, as shown in FIG. 2 and the like. Here, the power transmission unit 100 can be in a power transmission state in which the power of the motor 6 is transmitted from the motor 6 to the medium receiving tray 5, and a power non-transmission state in which the power of the motor 6 is not transmitted from the motor 6 to the medium receiving tray 5.

[0034] Here, the power transmission unit 100 will be described. As shown in Figs. 7 to 12, the power transmission unit 100 has a gear 101 that engages with the transport roller pulley 7a. The gear 101 engages with a gear 102, and a locking component 103 that is a D-shaped gear and a transmission component 104 that is a gear are provided on a rotation axis 102a of the gear 102. The rotation axis 102a of the gear 102, the locking component 103, and the transmission component 104 is in the direction along the X-axis direction, and the locking component 103 and the transmission component 104 are configured to be movable together along the X-axis direction by a power switching mechanism 120. The details of the power switching mechanism 120 will be described later, but the locking component 103 is configured not to rotate by interfering with a holding portion 123 that constitutes a part of the power switching mechanism 120, and the transmission component 104 is configured to rotate with the rotation of the gear 102.

[0035] 7 to 12, the power transmission unit 100 has a gear 105, and the power switching mechanism 120 moves the locking component 103 and the transmission component 104 along the X-axis direction, thereby making it possible to engage the gear 105 with the locking component 103 and to engage the gear 105 with the transmission component 104. With the above configuration, when the gear 102 is rotating, the gear 105 does not rotate when the gear 105 is engaged with the locking component 103, and rotates when the gear 105 is engaged with the transmission component 104.

[0036] As shown in FIG. 7 to FIG. 12, the gear 105 engages with the gear 106, the gear 106 engages with the gear 107, the gear 107 engages with the gear 108, and the gear 108 engages with the gear 109. The gear 109 engages with the gear 110. The gear 110 engages with the gear 111, which shares a common rotation axis, via the friction forming portion 112. In other words, the gears 110, 111, and the friction forming portion 112 form a friction gear. The gear 111 engages with the gear 113, which is the final stage of the drive gear train of the power transmission portion 100. The gear 113 is configured to be rotatable together with the pinion 114, which shares a common rotation axis, and the pinion 114 engages with the rack 5a formed on the medium receiving tray 5, so that the medium receiving tray 5 can move along the Y-axis direction as the gear 113 rotates. Thus, the power transmission unit 100 of this embodiment includes the power switching mechanism 120 and the drive gear train from the gear 101 to the gear 113.

[0037] Here, in the recording device 1 of this embodiment, the power transmission unit 100 is located in an area L1 between the outer end of the transport roller pulley 7a and the outer end of the discharge roller pulley 8a in the Y-axis direction corresponding to the discharge direction of the medium, as shown in FIG. 6. If the power transmission unit 100 is arranged on the leading end side of the discharge roller pulley 8a in the discharge direction, the entire device tends to protrude in the +Y direction, which is the leading end side of the discharge direction, and if the power transmission unit 100 is arranged on the -Y direction, which is the rear end side of the discharge direction, than the transport roller pulley 7a, the entire device tends to protrude on the rear end side of the discharge direction, but by arranging the power transmission unit 100 in this way, the entire length of the recording device 1 in the discharge direction can be shortened. Therefore, the recording device 1 of this embodiment achieves miniaturization in a recording device having a medium receiving tray 5 that can be displaced between a first state and a second state.

[0038] 4 and 5, the power transmission unit 100 of this embodiment is located closer to the center of the recording device 1 in the X-axis direction corresponding to the reciprocating movement direction of the carriage 3 than the routing range L2 of the belt 10, that is, on the -X direction side in FIGS. 4 and 5. If the power transmission unit 100 is located outside the recording device 1 in the reciprocating movement direction of the carriage 3 than the routing range of the belt 10, the entire device tends to protrude in the reciprocating movement direction of the carriage 3, but by adopting such a configuration, the entire length of the recording device 1 in the reciprocating movement direction of the carriage 3 can be shortened. Therefore, the recording device 1 of this embodiment achieves a particularly compact size in a recording device having a medium receiving tray 5 that can be displaced between a first state and a second state.

[0039] 6, the power transmission unit 100 of this embodiment is located around the motor 6 when viewed from the direction along the reciprocating movement direction of the carriage 3. In other words, the power transmission unit 100 is disposed to bypass the motor 6. Therefore, the recording device 1 of this embodiment prevents the power transmission unit 100 from interfering with the motor 6.

[0040] Next, the recording device 1 of this embodiment will be described from the viewpoint of the arrangement of the power switching mechanism 120. As shown in Figs. 8 to 12, the recording device 1 of this embodiment has, as the power switching mechanism 120, a switching lever part 121 that switches the power transmission part 100 between a power transmission state and a power non-transmission state, a cam 122 having a cam surface 122a as shown in Fig. 3, and a holding part 123 that holds the lock part 103 and the transmission part 104 as shown in Fig. 11 and the like and has a pin 123a disposed on the cam surface 122a as shown in Fig. 3. The power switching mechanism 120 can be switched between a power non-transmission state and a power transmission state by the switching lever part 121, as will be described in detail later. The power switching mechanism 120 is located in an area L3 between the outer end of the motor 6 and the outer end of the transport roller 7 in the Y-axis direction corresponding to the medium discharge direction as shown in Fig. 2. The position of the power switching mechanism 120 can be, for example, position S1 shown in FIG. 3, which is the contact position between the cam surface 122a and the pin 123a.

[0041] If the power switching mechanism 120 is disposed closer to the leading end in the discharge direction (+Y direction) than the outer end of the motor 6, the entire device will tend to protrude toward the leading end in the discharge direction (+Y direction), and if the power switching mechanism 120 is disposed closer to the trailing end in the discharge direction (-Y direction) than the outer end of the transport roller 7, the entire device will tend to protrude toward the trailing end in the discharge direction (-Y direction). However, by disposing the power switching mechanism 120 in this manner, the overall length of the recording device 1 in the discharge direction (Y axis direction) can be shortened. Therefore, the recording device 1 of this embodiment achieves miniaturization in a recording device having a medium receiving tray 5 that can be displaced between a first state and a second state.

[0042] 3, in the power switching mechanism 120 of this embodiment, position S1 overlaps with the range L4 occupied by the motor 6 in the reciprocating movement direction (X-axis direction) of the carriage 3. Furthermore, as shown in Fig. 2, in the power switching mechanism 120 of this embodiment, position S1 overlaps with the range L5 occupied by the motor 6 in the Z-axis direction corresponding to the intersecting direction intersecting both the ejection direction (Y-axis direction) and the reciprocating movement direction (Y-axis direction) of the carriage.

[0043] In this way, it is preferable that the power switching mechanism 120 overlaps with the motor 6 in at least one of the reciprocating movement direction (X-axis direction) and the intersecting direction (Z-axis direction) of the carriage 3. This configuration allows the power switching mechanism 120 to be efficiently disposed with respect to the motor 6 in at least one of the reciprocating movement direction (X-axis direction) and the intersecting direction (Z-axis direction) of the carriage 3, and makes it possible to particularly miniaturize a recording device having a medium receiving tray 5 that can be displaced between a first state and a second state.

[0044] 2, the position S1 of the power switching mechanism 120 of this embodiment overlaps with the occupation range L6 of the gear 113, which is the final stage of the drive gear train of the power transmission unit 100, in the intersecting direction (Z-axis direction). The power switching mechanism 120 of this embodiment is configured in this way, so that the power switching mechanism 120 can be efficiently disposed with respect to the drive gear train of the power transmission unit 100 in the intersecting direction (Z-axis direction). This makes it possible to particularly reduce the size of the recording device 1 of this embodiment, which has the medium receiving tray 5 that can be displaced between a first state and a second state.

[0045] The following describes the relationship between the power transmission unit 100, particularly the operation of the switching lever unit 121 of the power switching mechanism 120, the associated operation of the drive wheel train of the power transmission unit 100, and the operation of the carriage 3. As shown in Figs. 8 and 9, the switching lever unit 121 is provided within a reciprocating movement range A1 of the carriage 3 in the X-axis direction. The reciprocating movement range A1 of the carriage 3 means the area in which the carriage 3 exists as the carriage 3 reciprocates. The switching lever unit 121 is configured to be able to rotate between a contact position where a tip portion 121a, which is a part of the switching lever unit 121, can come into contact with the carriage 3 as the carriage 3 reciprocates, as shown in the right-hand diagrams of Figs. 9 and 13, and a non-contact position where no part of the switching lever unit 121 comes into contact with the carriage 3 even if the carriage 3 moves, as shown in the left-hand diagrams of Figs. 8 and 13. Specifically, by rotating the motor 6 in the forward direction, which is the rotation direction during medium transport, and rotating the transport roller 7 in rotation direction R1 in Fig. 13, the switching lever portion 121 moves from the non-contact position shown on the left side of Fig. 13, which is the initial state, to the contact position shown on the right side of Fig. 13. In the initial state, the switching lever portion 121 is biased in the rotation direction R2.

[0046] 13, the switching lever portion 121 has a tip portion 121a that moves forward and backward within a reciprocating movement range A1 of the carriage 3 by rotating, and an engaging portion 121b that does not engage with the engaged portion 123b of the holding portion 123 at a non-contact position and engages with the engaged portion 123b of the holding portion 123 at a contact position. Here, the switching lever portion 121 is biased in the -X direction by an elastic member 125, and the holding portion 123 is biased in the -X direction by a coil spring 124. However, when the switching lever portion 121 is in the contact position, it comes into contact with the carriage 3 and slides in the +X direction as the carriage 3 reciprocates, so that the holding portion 123 slides in the +X direction together with the switching lever portion 121. Then, the holding portion 123 slides in the +X direction together with the switching lever portion 121, so that the power transmission portion 100 switches between a power non-transmitting state and a power transmitting state.

[0047] The procedure by which the power transmission unit 100 switches from the non-power transmission state to the power transmission state will be described below with reference to Figures 3, 14, 15, 16, and 20. Figures 14, 15, and 16 all show how the power transmission unit 100 switches from the non-power transmission state to the power transmission state. The upper left diagrams of Figures 14, 15, and 16 all correspond to the left diagrams of Figure 13, and show a state in which the switching lever unit 121 is in the non-contact position, which is the initial state. In this state, the position of the pin 123a of the holding unit 123 relative to the cam surface 122a of the cam 122 is the first position P1 in Figure 3.

[0048] Next, by rotating the motor 6 in the forward direction, the state transitions from the state shown in the upper left diagrams of Fig. 14, Fig. 15, and Fig. 16 to the state shown in the upper right diagrams of Fig. 14, Fig. 15, and Fig. 16. This corresponds to the switching lever portion 121 rotating to transition from the state shown in the left diagram of Fig. 13 to the state shown in the right diagram of Fig. 13, specifically, the switching lever portion 121 rotates in the rotation direction R1, the tip portion 121a enters the reciprocating movement range A1 of the carriage 3, and the engaging portion 121b engages with the engaged portion 123b. Note that even in this state, the position of the pin 123a of the holding portion 123 relative to the cam surface 122a of the cam 122 is the first position P1 in Fig. 3. Here, in the states shown in the upper left figures of Figures 14, 15 and 16, and the upper right figures of Figures 14, 15 and 16, the gear 105 and the locking component 103 are engaged, and the power transmission part 100 is in a non-power transmitting state.

[0049] Next, from the state shown in the upper right diagrams of Figs. 14, 15 and 16, the tip 121a comes into contact with the carriage 3, and the switching lever part 121 is pushed in the +X direction, and the state shifts to the state shown in the lower left diagrams of Figs. 14, 15 and 16. In Figs. 14, 15 and 16, the carriage 3 is omitted. In this state, the position of the pin 123a of the holding part 123 relative to the cam surface 122a of the cam 122 is the second position P2 in Fig. 3. It moves from the first position P1 to the second position P2 along the moving path D1. At the second position P2 in Fig. 3, a pin holding part 122b is formed, which holds the pin 123a by hooking it on the cam surface 122a. Here, in the state shown in the lower left diagrams of Figs. 14, 15 and 16, the gear 105 and the transmission part 104 are engaged, and the power transmission part 100 is in a power transmission state. 20, when the position of the pin 123a of the holding portion 123 shown in the state of the lower left diagrams of Fig. 14, Fig. 15 and Fig. 16 is at the second position P2, the engaging portion 121b and the engaged portion 123b are supported by the upper surface 126a of the support frame 126 of the gear 101. This prevents the engaging portion 121b and the engaged portion 123b from coming out of engagement with each other.

[0050] Next, from the state shown in the lower left diagrams of Figs. 14, 15 and 16, the tip portion 121a comes into contact with the carriage 3, and the switching lever portion 121 is further pushed in the +X direction, and the state shifts to the state shown in the lower right diagrams of Figs. 14, 15 and 16. In this state, the position of the pin 123a of the holding portion 123 relative to the cam surface 122a of the cam 122 is the third position P3 in Fig. 3. It moves from the second position P2 to the third position P3 along the movement path D2. Since the third position P3 does not have a structure for holding the pin 123a such as the pin holding portion 122b, as the carriage 3 moves in the -X direction, the position of the pin 123a of the holding portion 123 relative to the cam surface 122a of the cam 122 returns to the first position P1 due to the biasing force of the elastic member 125 acting in the -X direction. It moves from the third position P3 to the first position P1 along the movement path D3.

[0051] By configuring the recording device 1 of this embodiment in this way, it is possible to suitably arrange the power switching mechanism 120 and the switching lever unit 121 for switching the power transmission unit 100 between a power non-transmitting state and a power transmitting state, and it is possible to miniaturize the entire mechanism for switching the medium receiving tray 5 between the first state and the second state. This also makes it possible to miniaturize the entire recording device 1.

[0052] As described above, in the switching lever portion 121 of the recording device 1 of this embodiment, at least the tip portion 121a enters the reciprocating movement range A1 of the carriage 3 at the contact position as shown in the right diagrams of Fig. 9 and Fig. 13, and the tip portion 121a retracts from the reciprocating movement range A1 of the carriage 3 at the non-contact position as shown in the left diagrams of Fig. 8 and Fig. 13. In this way, by the tip portion 121a retracting from the reciprocating movement range A1 of the carriage 3 at the non-contact position in the power non-transmitting state, it is possible to eliminate the need to provide the switching lever portion 121 outside the reciprocating movement range A1 of the carriage 3, and it is possible to particularly reduce the size of the recording device 1.

[0053] As described above, in the recording device 1 of this embodiment, the power transmission unit 100 has a locking part 103 that prevents the rotation of the gear when in the power non-transmitting state as shown in the upper right diagrams of Figs. 14 and 16, and a transmission part 104 that transmits the power of the motor 6 when in the power transmitting state as shown in the lower left diagrams of Figs. 14 and 16. As is clear from a comparison between the upper right diagrams of Figs. 14 and 16 and the lower left diagrams of Figs. 14 and 16, the switching lever part 121 slides in the +X direction by contacting the carriage 3, etc., to switch the connection of the locking part 103 and the transmission part 104 to the gear 105 in the power transmission unit 100. The recording device 1 of this embodiment has such a configuration, and thus it is possible to easily form a mechanism that prevents the rotation of the gear when in the power non-transmitting state and a mechanism that transmits the power of the motor 6 when in the power transmitting state. In the recording device 1 of this embodiment, when the medium receiving tray 5 is manually operated, a load is generated by the friction gears shown in Figures 21 and 22. The purpose of generating this load is to prevent the medium receiving tray 5 from moving under its own weight when the recording device 1 is tilted for storage, etc., and to create a feeling of manual operation. When transmitting power, the connection between the locking part 103 and the transmission part 104 is switched to release the lock on the gear train and drive the medium receiving tray 5 with the motor power.

[0054] Here, the power transmission unit 100 is configured to be able to switch the connection of the gear 105 from the locking part 103 to the transmission part 104 by contacting the carriage 3 with an external load in the +X direction, which is the direction in which the switching lever part 121 comes into contact with the carriage 3 and slides, or by, for example, manually applying an external load by the user. With this configuration, the recording device 1 of this embodiment is able to manually switch between a power transmission state and a power non-transmission state, for example, when the recording device 1 is turned off. Furthermore, it is possible to reduce the number of parts of the mechanism that allows the user to manually switch between the power transmission state and the power non-transmission state.

[0055] Here, the configuration of a switching mechanism for the connection of the gear 105 from the lock component 103 to the transmission component 104 in the power transmission unit 100 will be described with reference to Fig. 16 to Fig. 19. Here, Fig. 17 to Fig. 19 show the state shown in the upper left of Fig. 16, that is, the state in which the position of the pin 123a of the holding unit 123 relative to the cam surface 122a of the cam 122 is at the first position P1 in Fig. 3. Also, in Fig. 17, in order to make the shape of the rotation shaft 102a of the gear 102 easier to understand, a compression spring 127 described below is omitted.

[0056] As shown in Fig. 18 and Fig. 19, the area of the rotation shaft 102a of the gear 102 on the -X direction side from the center is a cross shape 102b. As shown in Fig. 19, the transmission part 104 is provided with a cross-shaped hole portion, which is fitted with the cross shape 102b of the rotation shaft 102a, so that the transmission part 104 always rotates with the rotation of the rotation shaft 102a. On the other hand, as shown in Fig. 16 and Fig. 17, the locking part 103 is provided with a round hole through which the rotation shaft 102a passes. The locking part 103 is configured not to rotate with the rotation of the rotation shaft 102a in any of the following states: when the locking part 103 faces the cross shape 102b area of the rotation shaft 102a in the upper left state of Fig. 16, when the locking part 103 faces the cylindrical area 102c that is not the cross shape 102b area of the rotation shaft 102a in the upper right state of Fig. 16 and when the locking part 103 faces the cylindrical area 102c that is not the cross shape 102b area of the rotation shaft 102a in the lower left state of Fig. 16. As shown in FIG. 17, the locking part 103 has a flange portion 103b, which will be described later, that is substantially D-shaped, and even if the rotating shaft 102a rotates and is about to rotate together with the locking part 103, the abutment portion 123c of the holding part 123 abuts against the flange portion 103b, so that the locking part 103 does not rotate together with the rotating shaft 102a.

[0057] As shown in FIG. 18 and other figures, a compression spring 127 is provided between the gear 102 of the rotating shaft 102a and the locking component 103, and the locking component 103 is biased by the compression spring 127 in the -X direction, which is the direction away from the gear 102. The locking component 103 has a tooth portion 103a on the -X direction side and a flange portion 103b having a substantially D-shape on the +X direction side. Because the compression spring 127 is provided and the locking component 103 has such a configuration, the teeth of the locking component 103 and the gear 105 easily engage with each other even if the teeth of the locking component 103 temporarily come into contact with each other, and the locking component 103 is preferably positioned. Furthermore, because the compression spring 127 is provided, when the state of the transmission component 104 shifts from the upper right state in FIG. 16 to the lower left state in FIG. 16, the teeth of the transmission component 104 and the gear 105 easily engage with each other even if the teeth of the transmission component 104 temporarily come into contact with each other.

[0058] 3, the power switching mechanism 120 of the power transmission unit 100 has a cam 122 having a cam surface 122a, and a holding part 123 that holds the locking part 103 and the transmission part 104 and has a pin 123a disposed on the cam surface 122a, and as described above, the pin 123a moves on the cam surface 122a from a first position P1 to a second position P2 to a third position P3, thereby moving between a power non-transmitting state and a power transmitting state. With this configuration, the recording device 1 of this embodiment can be configured in a small size for the power transmission unit 100, and the recording device 1 can be particularly made small.

[0059] 3, the cam surface 122a is provided with a flat surface portion 122c on which the pin 123a is located when the power transmission unit 100 is in a power non-transmitting state, i.e., when the pin 123a is in a position other than the second position P2 on the cam surface 122a. The cam surface 122a is provided with a pin holding portion 122b that holds the pin 123a when the power transmission unit 100 is in a power transmitting state, i.e., when the pin 123a is in the second position P2 on the cam surface 122a. With this configuration, it is possible to prevent the position of the pin 123a from shifting when the power transmission unit 100 is in a power transmitting state.

[0060] Next, the configurations of the gear 110, the gear 111, and the friction forming portion 112, i.e., the friction gear configured by these, will be described with reference to Figures 21 and 22. As shown in Figures 21 and 22, the gear 110 has a hook portion 110a formed on the -X direction side. And as shown in Figure 22, the gear 111 has a contact portion 111a formed on the +X direction side for contacting a wall portion 110b of the gear 110. If the contact force of the contact portion 111a against the wall portion 110b is strong, the gear 111 will easily rotate together with the gear 110, and if the contact force of the contact portion 111a against the wall portion 110b is weak, the gear 111 will slip relative to the gear 110 and will not easily rotate together with the gear 110. Here, as shown in Figures 21 and 22, a friction forming portion 112, which is a compression spring, is formed between the hook portion 110a and the abutment portion 111a, and the abutment force of the abutment portion 111a against the wall portion 110b is set to an appropriate abutment force.

[0061] Next, the configuration of the head forming surface 3a, which is the surface of the carriage 3 facing the switching lever portion 121, will be described with reference to Figs. 23 and 24. Here, Figs. 23 and 24 show the state when the carriage 3 is positioned at the most +X direction side of its reciprocating movement range A1. Specifically, the recording device 1 of this embodiment is capable of so-called skew correction, which suppresses skewed conveyance of the medium by repeatedly conveying the medium in the conveying direction and conveying the medium in the direction opposite to the conveying direction, and when skew correction, the carriage 3 is located at the position shown in Figs. 23 and 24. Here, when skew correction is performed, the switching lever portion 121 also rotates with the rotation of the conveying roller 7, so that the head forming surface 3a and the switching lever portion 121 come into contact with each other as shown in Fig. 23.

[0062] The carriage 3 of this embodiment has the recording head 4, the medium width sensor 21, and the hole shape 22 on the head formation surface 3a. These are sensitive components that may cause performance changes when they come into contact with other components, and therefore correspond to the non-permissible part that does not allow contact with the switching lever part 121. In the carriage 3 of this embodiment, as shown in FIG. 23, the tip part 121a of the switching lever part 121 is disposed at a position facing the medium width sensor 21. Therefore, the carriage 3 of this embodiment is provided with a guard part 3b that guards the medium width sensor 21 around the medium width sensor 21 as the non-permissible part. The tip part 121a of the switching lever part 121 is configured such that a flat facing surface is provided at a portion facing the guard part 3b. Therefore, in the recording device 1 of this embodiment, even if the tip part 121a comes into contact with the guard part 3b, it is possible to prevent the tip part 121a from coming into contact with the medium width sensor 21 as the non-permissible part.

[0063] In this embodiment, the tip 121a of the switching lever portion 121 is disposed at a position facing the medium width sensor 21 as the non-permissible portion. For this reason, a guard portion 3b is provided around the medium width sensor 21 to guard the medium width sensor 21. However, if the tip 121a of the switching lever portion 121 is disposed at a position facing the recording head 4 as the non-permissible portion, it is preferable that the guard portion 3b is provided around the recording head 4, and if the tip 121a of the switching lever portion 121 is disposed at a position facing the hole shape 22 as the non-permissible portion, the guard portion 3b is provided around the hole shape 22.

[0064] Next, the mounting configuration of the power transmission unit 100 will be described with reference to Fig. 25 to Fig. 28. As shown in Fig. 25 to Fig. 27, the power transmission unit 100 is sandwiched in the X-axis direction between a first frame 131 having a plurality of gear support parts 131a and a second frame 132 to form one unit 130. The unit 130 is placed and fixed on a mounting part 141 of a main body frame 140 to which the discharge roller 8 is attached, as shown in Fig. 28.

[0065] That is, the recording device 1 of this embodiment includes a main body frame 140 to which the discharge roller 8 is attached, and the power transmission unit 100 is provided in a unit 130 that is separate from the main body frame 140 and is detachable from the main body frame 140. With this configuration, the recording device 1 of this embodiment can easily mount the power transmission unit 100 inside the recording device 1, and can easily replace or clean the power transmission unit 100.

[0066] [Example 2] Next, the recording device 1 of the second embodiment will be described with reference to Figs. 29 to 36. In Figs. 29 to 36, components common to the first embodiment are indicated by the same reference numerals, and detailed description will be omitted. The recording device 1 of this embodiment has the same configuration as the recording device 1 of the first embodiment, except for the switching lever unit and its surrounding configuration, and the associated rotation range of the switching lever unit from the non-contact position to the contact position. Therefore, the configurations shown in Figs. 30, 31, 33, and 35 are the same as those of the recording device 1 of the first embodiment, and the recording device 1 of this embodiment has the same characteristics as the recording device 1 of the first embodiment, except for the parts described below.

[0067] 29, the recording apparatus 1 of this embodiment is provided with an ASF (Auto Sheet Feeder) operation switching mechanism 200 on the -X direction side of the power switching mechanism 120. The ASF operation switching mechanism 200 has a gear 201 connected to the transport roller 7, a gear 202 engaging with the gear 201, a friction gear 220 engaging with the gear 202, and an ASF trigger lever portion 210 that can rotate synchronously with the friction gear 220 by the friction force with the friction gear 220.

[0068] As shown in Fig. 30, the ASF trigger lever portion 210 has a shaft portion 214, a cylindrical portion 213 formed on the shaft portion 214, an upper end portion 211, and a lower end portion 212. As shown in Fig. 31, the cylindrical portion 213 is passed through a cylindrical portion 221 of the friction gear 220 in a contacting state, and the ASF trigger lever portion 210 is configured to be rotatable in rotational directions R1 and R2 with the cylindrical portion 213 as a rotation axis in conjunction with rotation of the friction gear 220.

[0069] 29, the upper end 211 is configured to be able to protrude in the +Y direction from the hole 151 of the frame part 150. Here, the frame part 150 is disposed opposite the carriage 3 in the Y axis direction. Furthermore, even if the upper end 211 attempts to protrude in the +Y direction from the hole 151 when the carriage 3 is positioned in the -X direction, the upper end 211 is disposed such that it is pushed in the -Y direction by the carriage 3.

[0070] 30, a protrusion 215 is provided on the shaft 214 of the ASF trigger lever 210. When the upper end 211 protrudes from the hole 151 in the +Y direction as a result of the cylindrical portion 213 rotating together with the cylindrical portion 221 in the rotation direction R2, the protrusion 215 separates from the ASF operation execution mechanism (not shown), enabling the ASF operation execution mechanism to be driven and enabling the ASF operation to be performed. On the other hand, when the upper end 211 is pushed in the -Y direction by the carriage 3 or the cylindrical portion 213 rotates together with the cylindrical portion 221 in the rotation direction R1, and the cylindrical portion 213 does not protrude from the hole 151 in the +Y direction, the protrusion 215 is disposed at a position that prevents the ASF operation execution mechanism (not shown) from being driven, disabling the ASF operation execution mechanism from being driven and disabling the ASF operation to be performed.

[0071] 31, 33, and 35, the gear 202 and the friction gear 220 are engaged with each other at two protrusions 202a provided on the gear 202 and two protrusions 221a provided on the friction gear 220. As shown in Fig. 33 and 35, when viewed from the direction of the rotation axes of the gear 202 and the friction gear 220, the two protrusions 202a and the two protrusions 221a are engaged with each other via a gap G. For this reason, a delay occurs as a time lag between the rotation of the friction gear 220 and the rotation of the ASF trigger lever portion 210 and the rotation of the conveyance roller 7, the gear 201, and the gear 202.

[0072] In the recording device 1 of this embodiment, when the transport roller 7 is rotated in the rotation direction R2, which is the forward rotation, during recording or the like, the switching lever portion 121-2 of this embodiment rotates in the rotation direction R2 and is in a non-contact position as shown in FIG. 32. Unlike the switching lever portion 121 of the first embodiment, the switching lever portion 121-2 of this embodiment has a tip portion 121a but does not have an engaging portion 121b. Instead, the switching lever portion 121-2 of this embodiment has a disk portion 121c, and the disk portion 121c is configured to engage with the engaged portion 123b. Note that due to the difference in shape between the switching lever portion 121 of the first embodiment and the switching lever portion 121-2 of this embodiment, the engaged portion 123b of the holding portion 123 of the first embodiment and the engaged portion 123b-2 of the holding portion 123 of this embodiment are different in shape.

[0073] In addition, the switching lever section 121-2 of this embodiment is provided with a rotation stopper 121d inside the main body, and as shown in FIG. 34, even if the transport roller 7 continues to rotate in the reverse rotation direction R1, the rotation stopper engagement section 152 stops the rotation of the switching lever section 121-2 in the rotation direction R1. Here, the switching lever section 121-2 of the recording device 1 of this embodiment has a larger rotation amount of the switching lever section 121-2 from the non-contact position to the contact position than the switching lever section 121 of the recording device 1 of Example 1. The position of the switching lever section 121-2 shown in FIG. 34 corresponds to the first contact position among the contact positions. And the state shown in FIG. 34 corresponds to the state shown in FIG. 33. In other words, when the switching lever portion 121-2 is in the first contact position, the two protrusions 202a and the two protrusions 221a form gap G1 of the gap G, and the upper end portion 211 of the ASF trigger lever portion 210 is in a state where it does not protrude in the +Y direction from the hole portion 151.

[0074] As described above, the ASF trigger lever portion 210 has the lower end portion 212, which acts as a weight and tends to rotate in the rotation direction R2 around the cylindrical portion 213 as a rotation axis. For this reason, if the state shown in Fig. 33 is left as it is, for example, when the recording device 1 vibrates, the ASF trigger lever portion 210 rotates in the rotation direction R2 by the amount of the gap G1 due to its own weight, and the upper end portion 211 tends to protrude from the hole portion 151 in the +Y direction. When the carriage 3 moves from a state where it is not facing the hole portion 151 to a position where it faces the hole portion 151, if the upper end portion 211 protrudes from the hole portion 151 in the +Y direction, the carriage 3 may collide with the upper end portion 211, causing an error or the like.

[0075] Therefore, in the recording device 1 of this embodiment, after the state shown in Fig. 33 and the state shown in Fig. 34, the transport roller 7 is rotated slightly in the rotation direction R2 to be in the state shown in Fig. 35 and the state shown in Fig. 36. Then, as shown in Fig. 35, the two protrusions 202a and the two protrusions 221a form a gap G2 on the opposite side to the gap G1, and the ASF trigger lever portion 210 cannot rotate in the rotation direction R2 by its own weight. Also, as shown in Fig. 36, with the rotation of the transport roller 7 in the rotation direction R2, the position of the switching lever portion 121-2 becomes a second contact position that is rotated slightly toward the rotation direction R1 side from the first contact position.

[0076] In this way, the recording device 1 of this embodiment has a larger rotation amount of the switching lever part 121-2 from the non-contact position to the contact position compared to the switching lever part 121 of the recording device 1 of the first embodiment. Also, the disk part 121c is configured to be able to come into contact with the carriage 3 when the carriage 3 moves in the +X direction not only when the switching lever part 121-2 is in the first contact position but also when it is in the second contact position. Since the recording device 1 of this embodiment has such a configuration, it is possible to suppress the upper end part 211 protruding from the hole part 151 in the +Y direction when the user does not intend, the carriage 3 colliding with the upper end part 211, which may cause an error, or the like, and to suppress the movement operation error or erroneous movement of the medium receiving tray 5, without causing the device to become larger.

[0077] To summarize, when the switching lever section 121-2 of this embodiment is in the contact position, it can be positioned at a first contact position or a second contact position, both of which can come into contact with the carriage 3 in accordance with the reciprocating movement of the carriage 3. Therefore, the recording device 1 of this embodiment can change the position of the switching lever section 121-2 as necessary while maintaining the switching lever section 121-2 in the contact position.
