[0003] [Patent Document 1] JP 2011-171606 A Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]
[0004] In recent years, the miniaturization of optical devices has resulted in a narrower space around each optical component in a housing. In such a situation, it is not desirable for the adhesive to reach other components adjacent to the optical component to be bonded due to a large amount of adhesive relative to the space around the optical component. On the other hand, it is also not desirable for the adhesive to be insufficient, resulting in a decrease in the adhesive strength of the optical component.
[0005] Therefore, one of the objects of the present invention is to provide a novel optical device and optical components that can realize an improved bonding structure for optical components, for example, by enabling a required adhesive strength to be obtained with a smaller amount of adhesive. [0009] In the optical device, a plurality of grooves may be provided as the groove.
[0010] In the optical device, the plurality of grooves may intersect with each other.
[0011] In the optical device, a plurality of protrusions may be provided as the first convex portion on at least one of the first surface and the second surface.
[0012] In the optical device, the first recess may be provided on at least one of the first surface and the second surface, with the first recess being open to a surface different from the surface on which the first recess is provided.
[0013] In the optical device, a groove may be provided as the first recess on at least one of the first surface and the second surface, and a longitudinal end of the groove may be open on a surface other than the surface on which the groove is provided.
[0014] In the optical device, at least one of the first surface and the second surface may be provided with a roughened surface including the first recess and the first convex portion and having a surface roughness greater than other portions of the surface of the optical component.
[0015] The optical device may include another component that is housed within the housing, fixed on the mounting surface, and faces the second surface with a gap therebetween, and at least one of a first recess in contact with the adhesive and a first convex portion in contact with the adhesive may be provided on the second surface facing the other component with a gap therebetween.
[0016] In the optical device, at least one of a second recess in contact with the adhesive and a second protrusion in contact with the adhesive may be provided on the mounting surface.
[0017] In the optical device, the mounting surface may be provided with at least one of a second recess accommodating the first convex portion provided on the first surface, and a second convex portion accommodated in the first recess provided on the first surface.

[0026] In this specification, ordinal numbers are given for the sake of convenience to distinguish parts, directions, and the like, and do not indicate priority or order.
[0027] In each drawing, the X direction is represented by an arrow X, the Y direction is represented by an arrow Y, and the Z direction is represented by an arrow Z. The X direction, Y direction, and Z direction intersect with each other and are perpendicular to each other.
[0028] [First embodiment] Fig. 1 is a plan view showing a state in which a top cover 1d (see Fig. 2) of an optical device 100 of a first embodiment is removed. Fig. 2 is a cross-sectional view (side view) of the optical device 100 taken along the line II-II in Fig. 1. The optical device 100 is a semiconductor laser module.
[0029] 1, the optical device 100 includes a housing 1. The housing 1 includes an output port 1a, four side walls 1b, a bottom wall 1c, and a top cover 1d.
[0030] The bottom wall 1c is a plate-like member located at the end opposite the Z direction. The bottom wall 1c crosses the Z direction and is perpendicular to it, and extends in the X and Y directions. The bottom wall 1c is made of a material with high thermal conductivity, such as copper tungsten (CuW), copper molybdenum (CuMo), or aluminum oxide (Al2O3).
[0031] The side walls 1b are each a plate-shaped member, and extend in the Z direction, substantially perpendicular to the bottom wall 1c, and intersects with and is perpendicular to the X direction or the Y direction.
[0032] An output port 1a is provided on a side wall 1b located at the end in the X direction. A lens 2 is housed in the output port 1a. The output port 1a also supports an optical fiber 3 that outputs output light to the outside.
[0033] The top cover 1d is a plate-like member located at the end in the Z direction. The top cover 1d intersects with and is perpendicular to the Z direction, and extends in the X and Y directions. The top cover 1d is approximately parallel to the bottom wall 1c.
[0034] The output port 1a, side wall 1b, and top cover 1d are made of a material with a low coefficient of thermal expansion, such as, for example, an Fe-Ni-Co alloy or aluminum oxide (Al2O3).
[0035] The storage chamber in the housing 1 is, for example, hermetically sealed. An inert gas such as nitrogen gas may be stored in the housing 1. In this case, the nitrogen gas is an example of the gas.
[0036] The housing 1 contains components such as a Peltier module 10, a chip-on submount 4, a lens 5, an optical isolator 6, a beam splitter 7, a photodiode 8, a wavelength locker 9, photodiodes 91 and 92, and a lens 20A. Among these components, the chip-on submount 4, the lens 5, the optical isolator 6, the beam splitter 7, the photodiode 8, the wavelength locker 9, the photodiodes 91 and 92, and the lens 20A are examples of optical components. The optical components are, for example, components that output light, receive light, transmit light, or act on light. Note that the housing 1 may contain components other than the above-mentioned components.
[0037] The Peltier module 10 absorbs or generates heat depending on the direction of the current flow. The Peltier module 10 is a thermoelectric module and is an example of a temperature adjustment mechanism.
[0038] As shown in FIG. 2, the Peltier module 10 includes a first substrate 10a, a second substrate 10b, a plurality of thermoelectric elements 10c, and a wiring pattern 10d.
[0039] The first substrate 10a and the second substrate 10b are made of an insulating material with high thermal conductivity, such as ceramic.
[0040] The surface 10a1 of the end of the first substrate 10a in the Z direction faces the Z direction, crosses the Z direction, and extends in the X and Y directions. Optical components such as the chip-on submount 4, the lens 5, the optical isolator 6, the beam splitter 7, the photodiode 8, the wavelength locker 9, the photodiodes 91 and 92, and the lens 20A are mounted on the surface 10a1 and supported by the surface 10a1. These optical components and the first substrate 10a are thermally connected. The surface 10a1 is an example of a mounting surface for components. The Z direction is an example of a first direction. Components other than optical components may be mounted on the surface 10a1. In other words, the surface 10a1 may support components other than optical components.
[0041] Further, a back surface 10b1 of the end portion of the second substrate 10b opposite to the Z direction faces the opposite direction to the Z direction, intersects with the Z direction, and extends in the X direction and the Y direction. The back surface 10b1 is fixed to the bottom wall 1c. The second substrate 10b and the bottom wall 1c are thermally connected. The back surface 10b1 is a mounting surface of the Peltier module 10 to the housing 1. The Peltier module 10 is an example of a member fixed to the housing 1.
[0042] The thermoelectric element 10c is a columnar semiconductor element provided between the first substrate 10a and the second substrate 10b. The thermoelectric element 10c is made of a P-type semiconductor or an N-type semiconductor, for example, a bismuth telluride-based semiconductor. The thermoelectric elements 10c are connected in series with a wiring pattern 10d provided on the first substrate 10a and the second substrate 10b to form a PN junction. Electric power is supplied from a wiring (not shown) to a circuit including the thermoelectric elements 10c connected in series via the wiring pattern 10d. The circuit, i.e., the Peltier module 10, absorbs or generates heat depending on the direction of the electric power current.
[0043] The chip-on-submount 4 supported on the surface 10a1 and optical components such as the lens 5, the optical isolator 6, the beam splitter 7, the photodiode 8, the wavelength locker 9, the photodiodes 91 and 92, and the lens 20A are cooled or heated by the Peltier module 10.
[0044] The chip-on submount 4 has a laser element 4a and a submount 4b. The laser element 4a is a semiconductor laser element, for example, a wavelength-tunable light source. The submount 4b supports the laser element 4a. The submount 4b is made of an insulating material with high thermal conductivity. The laser element 4a and the first substrate 10a are thermally connected via the submount 4b. The chip-on submount 4 is an example of a light-emitting unit.
[0045] The laser element 4a is operated by power supplied from an external wiring (not shown), and outputs laser light L1 to the output port 1a side and laser light L2 to the opposite side to the output port 1a. The power of the laser light L1 and the power of the laser light L2 are in a proportional relationship.
[0046] 1, the laser light L1 is guided to the optical fiber 3 via the lens 5, the optical isolator 6, the beam splitter 7, and the lens 2, and is coupled to the optical fiber 3. The laser light L2 is input to the wavelength locker 9 via the lens 20A.
[0047] The lens 5 collimates the laser light L1.
[0048] The optical isolator 6 transmits the collimated laser light L 1 to the beam splitter 7 , and prevents the light from returning from the beam splitter 7 .
[0049] The beam splitter 7 outputs most of the laser light L1 to the lens 2, and outputs a portion of the laser light L1 to the photodiode 8. The lens 2 collects the laser light L1 from the beam splitter 7 and couples it into the optical fiber 3.
[0050] The photodiode 8 receives the laser light from the beam splitter 7 and outputs a detection signal according to the intensity of the received light. The detection signal is input to a controller via wiring (not shown). The controller controls the operation of the laser element 4a based on the detection signal from the photodiode 8.
[0051] In addition, the lens 20A collimates the laser light L2.
[0052] The wavelength locker 9 splits the laser light L2 into two. One of the split lights of the laser light L2 is input to a photodiode 91, and the other is input to a photodiode 92 via an etalon filter (not shown) whose transmission characteristics change periodically with respect to the wavelength. The wavelength locker 9 is formed of, for example, a planar lightwave circuit (PLC) made of quartz glass.
[0053] The photodiodes 91 and 92 receive the laser light from the wavelength locker 9 and output detection signals according to the intensity of the received light. The detection signals of the photodiodes 91 and 92 indicate the intensity and wavelength of the laser light L2, respectively. The detection signals are input to a controller via wiring (not shown).
[0054] The controller controls the operation of the laser element 4a based on detection signals from the photodiodes 91 and 92. The wavelength locker 9 and the photodiodes 91 and 92 are components that constitute a wavelength detection mechanism.
[0055] 3 is a cross-sectional view of a portion of the optical device 100 taken along line III-III in FIG. 1, and FIG. 4 is a cross-sectional view of a portion of the optical device 100 taken along line IV-IV in FIG.
[0056] 3 and 4 include a part of the Peltier module 10 and the lens 20A. As shown in Fig. 3 and 4, the lens 20A is bonded to a surface 10a1 of the Peltier module 10 via an adhesive 30. The surface 10a1 may also be referred to as an adhesive surface.
[0057] The lens 20A has a body 21 and a lens portion 22. The lens portion 22 is provided at a middle position of the body 21 in the Z direction. The body 21 and the lens portion 22 are integrally molded from the same material. The body 21 and the lens portion 22 can be made from, for example, silicon, a synthetic resin material, an optical glass material, or the like. The laser light passes through the lens portion 22 while being refracted in the X direction or the opposite direction to the X direction.
[0058] The lens 20A has a bottom surface 20a facing the surface 10a1 at an end opposite to the Z direction. The bottom surface 20a faces the opposite direction to the Z direction, intersects with and is perpendicular to the Z direction, and extends in the X direction and the Y direction. The bottom surface 20a faces the surface 10a1 with a gap therebetween in the Z direction, and is approximately parallel to the surface 10a1. The bottom surface 20a is a part of the surface of the lens 20A.
[0059] The adhesive 30 is interposed between at least the front surface 10a1 and the bottom surface 20a. The adhesive 30 is made of a material including, for example, an epoxy resin. The adhesive 30 may have electromagnetic wave curing properties, heat curing properties, or moisture curing properties. The bottom surface 20a may also be referred to as an adhesive surface. The bottom surface 20a is an example of a first surface.
[0060] The lens 20A has a top surface 20b at an end in the Z direction. The top surface 20b faces the Z direction, intersects with and is perpendicular to the Z direction, and extends in the X and Y directions.
[0061] 4, the lens 20A has side surfaces 20c at the end in the X direction and the end in the opposite direction to the X direction. Of the side surfaces 20c, the side surface 20c1 located at the end in the X direction faces the X direction, intersects with and is perpendicular to the X direction, and extends in the Y direction and the Z direction. Of the side surfaces 20c, the side surface 20c1 located at the end in the opposite direction to the X direction faces the opposite direction to the X direction, intersects with and is perpendicular to the X direction, and extends in the Y direction and the Z direction. The side surface 20c is a part of the surface of the lens 20A. Also, the side surface 20c is an example of a second surface facing in a direction different from the bottom surface 20a.
[0062] As shown in FIG. 3, a groove 20e is provided in a region of the side surface 20c1 adjacent to the bottom surface 20a, for example, a position of the side surface 20c1 closer to the bottom surface 20a than the middle position in the Z direction. The groove 20e is recessed in the opposite direction to the X direction, opens in the X direction, and extends in the Y direction. The groove 20e extends between both ends of the side surface 20c1 in the Y direction, and the ends 20e1 of the groove 20e in the Y direction and the opposite direction to the Y direction are respectively open in the X direction or the opposite direction to the X direction on the side surface 20d. The groove 20e is an example of a first recess. The side surface 20d is an example of a surface different from the side surface 20c1 as the surface on which the groove 20e is provided. The Y direction and the opposite direction to the Y direction are examples of the longitudinal direction of the groove 20e.
[0063] The grooves 20e can be provided by, for example, a cutting process such as dicing. Also, when the lens 20A is manufactured from a flowable material placed in a mold, the mold may be provided with protrusions that form the grooves 20e.
[0064] 1 and 2, the side surface 20c1 on which the groove 20e is provided faces, with a gap therebetween, a side surface 4b1 at the end portion in the opposite direction in the X direction of the submount 4b of the chip-on submount 4. The chip-on submount 4 is an example of a different component.
[0065] 3, the lens 20A has a side surface 20d at each of the end in the Y direction and the end in the opposite direction to the Y direction. The side surface 20d located at the end in the Y direction faces the Y direction, intersects with and is perpendicular to the Y direction, and extends in the X direction and the Z direction. The side surface 20d located at the end in the opposite direction to the Y direction faces the opposite direction to the Y direction, intersects with and is perpendicular to the Y direction, and extends in the X direction and the Z direction. The side surface 20d is a part of the surface of the lens 20A. The side surface 20d is an example of a second surface that faces in a direction different from the bottom surface 20a.
[0066] The lens 20A having such a configuration is adhered to the surface 10a1, for example, by the following process. First, the adhesive 30 in an uncured state having fluidity is applied to the surface 10a1. Next, the lens 20A temporarily held by, for example, a gripping tool or a robot is brought close to the surface 10a1, and the bottom surface 20a, the areas of the side surfaces 20c and 20d adjacent to the bottom surface 20a, and the groove 20e are immersed in the adhesive 30 in a fluid state. Next, the temporarily held lens 20A is positioned so that a predetermined optical path is obtained in the lens 20A while immersed in the adhesive 30 in a fluid state. Next, the adhesive 30 hardens over time or by application of electromagnetic waves, heat, humidity, or the like. After the adhesive 30 hardens, the temporary holding by the gripping tool or robot is released.
[0067] In this embodiment, in a state where the lens 20A and the surface 10a1 are bonded with the adhesive 30, the adhesive 30 contacts the bottom surface 20a, the regions of the side surfaces 20c and 20d adjacent to the bottom surface 20a, and the groove 20e (the surface forming the groove 20e). That is, in this embodiment, the area of the region of the surface (outer surface) of the lens 20A that contacts the adhesive 30 is larger because the groove 20e is provided, compared to a configuration in which the groove 20e is not provided. Therefore, according to this embodiment, for example, compared to a configuration in which the groove 20e is not provided, an advantage is obtained in that the adhesive strength between the surface 10a1 and the lens 20A by the adhesive 30 can be increased.
[0068] Here, it has been found that the depth of the groove 20e is preferably, for example, 20 μm or more and 200 μm or less from the viewpoint of obtaining a required adhesive strength.
[0069] Furthermore, in the above-mentioned process, when the lens 20A is immersed in the adhesive 30 in a fluid state, the adhesive 30 in the fluid state flows into the groove 20e due to surface tension (intermolecular force) or the like. Therefore, the adhesive 30 solidifies in a state where the area of the adhesive 30 on the surface 10a1 is smaller than the area of the adhesive 30 applied on the surface 10a1. Therefore, according to this embodiment, for example, the area of the surface 10a1 covered by the adhesive 30 can be made smaller, which is advantageous in that it becomes easier to integrate and arrange optical components in the housing 1.
[0070] Furthermore, as described above, the groove 20e is provided on the side surface 20c1 facing the side surface 4b1 of the chip-on submount 4. Therefore, when the lens 20A is immersed in the adhesive 30 in a fluid state, the part of the adhesive 30 located on the surface 10a1 near the side surface 4b1 flows toward the groove 20e in a direction away from the side surface 4b1. The adhesive 30 flows more strongly toward the groove 20e. Therefore, according to the configuration in which the groove 20e is provided on the side surface 20c1 facing the chip-on submount 4, for example, it is possible to obtain an advantage that it is easy to suppress the adhesive 30 from solidifying when it reaches the chip-on submount 4. The chip-on submount 4 is an example of another part located in the vicinity of the lens 20A.
[0071] In addition, the end 20e1 of the groove 20e in the Y direction and the opposite direction to the Y direction is open on the side surface 20d different from the side surface 20c1 on which the groove 20e is provided, as described above. If the end 20e1 of the groove 20e is closed and not opened, there is a risk that air bubbles existing in the groove 20e will be trapped and remain in the groove 20e when the lens 20A is immersed in the adhesive 30 having fluidity. In this respect, according to the present embodiment, the adhesive 30 having fluidity is more likely to flow in the Y direction and the opposite direction to the Y direction in the groove 20e since the end 20e1 is open, and the air bubbles are pushed out of the groove 20e by the adhesive 30 and are less likely to remain in the groove 20e. Therefore, according to the present embodiment, for example, it is possible to obtain an advantage that it is easier to suppress a decrease in the adhesive strength of the adhesive 30 due to the air bubbles remaining in the groove 20e.
[0072] In this embodiment, the groove 20e is provided on the side surface 20c1, but the same effect can be obtained even if one or more convex portions are provided instead of the concave portion such as the groove 20e. In this case, the convex portion may be a protrusion or a convex ridge. The convex portion is an example of a first convex portion. Also, the concave portion (first concave portion) may be a concave portion different from the groove 20e, such as one or more bottomed holes.
[0073] [Second embodiment] Fig. 5 is a cross-sectional view of a portion of the optical device 100 of the second embodiment taken at the same position as in Fig. 3, and Fig. 6 is a cross-sectional view of a portion of the optical device 100 of the second embodiment taken at the same position as in Fig. 4. The optical device 100 of this embodiment includes a lens 20B instead of the lens 20A of the first embodiment.
[0074] A plurality of grooves 20e are provided on the side surface 20c1 of the lens 20B. The plurality of grooves 20e include a plurality of grooves 20e-1 spaced apart from each other in the Z direction and extending in the Y direction, and a plurality of grooves 20e-2 spaced apart from each other in the Y direction and extending in the Z direction. The plurality of grooves 20e are connected to each other. In addition, an end 20e1 of the groove 20e-1 extending in the Y direction is open on the side surface 20d.
[0075] In this embodiment, a portion of the side surface 20c1 surrounded by the plurality of grooves 20e constitutes a protrusion 20f that protrudes relatively from the bottom surface of the groove 20e. The protrusion 20f is an example of a first convex portion.
[0076] According to this configuration, compared to the first embodiment, the number of grooves 20e is greater and the length of the grooves 20e is longer, so that the area of the region of the surface (outer surface) of the lens 20A that is in contact with the adhesive 30 is larger. Therefore, according to this embodiment, for example, an advantage is obtained in that the adhesive strength between the surface 10a1 and the lens 20A by the adhesive 30 can be further increased.
[0077] In addition, by having multiple grooves 20e intersect with each other, for example, it is possible to obtain an advantage that air bubbles can be more easily removed from the grooves 20e, and a decrease in the adhesive strength of the adhesive 30 due to air bubbles remaining in the grooves 20e is more easily prevented.
[0078] [Third embodiment] Fig. 7 is a cross-sectional view of a part of an optical device 100 of a third embodiment at the same position as in Fig. 3. The optical device 100 of this embodiment includes a lens 20C instead of the lens 20A of the first embodiment.
[0079] A plurality of grooves 20e are provided on the side surface 20c1 of the lens 20B. The plurality of grooves 20e includes a plurality of grooves 20e extending in a direction between the Y direction and the Z direction, and a plurality of grooves 20e extending in a direction between the opposite direction of the Y direction and the Z direction. The plurality of grooves 20e are connected to each other. In addition, ends 20e1 of the grooves 20e located at the ends in the Y direction and the opposite direction of the Y direction are open on the side surface 20d.
[0080] This embodiment also has the advantage that, since the number of grooves 20e is greater and the length of the grooves 20e is longer, the adhesive strength between the surface 10a1 and the lens 20A by the adhesive 30 can be increased.
[0081] [Fourth embodiment] Fig. 8 is a cross-sectional view of a part of an optical device 100 of the fourth embodiment at the same position as in Fig. 4. The optical device 100 of this embodiment includes a lens 20D instead of the lens 20A of the first embodiment.
[0082] The lens 20D has grooves 20e formed on a plurality of side surfaces 20c1 and 20c2.
[0083] This embodiment also has the advantage that, since the number of grooves 20e is greater and the length of the grooves 20e is longer, the adhesive strength between the surface 10a1 and the lens 20A by the adhesive 30 can be increased.
[0084] [Fifth embodiment] Fig. 9 is a cross-sectional view of a part of an optical device 100 of a fifth embodiment at the same position as in Fig. 4. The optical device 100 of this embodiment includes a lens 20E instead of the lens 20A of the first embodiment.
[0085] Lens 20E has grooves 20e formed on side surface 20c1 and a plurality of side surfaces 20d.
[0086] This embodiment also has the advantage that, since the number of grooves 20e is greater and the length of the grooves 20e is longer, the adhesive strength between the surface 10a1 and the lens 20A by the adhesive 30 can be increased.
[0087] [Sixth embodiment] Fig. 10 is a cross-sectional view of a part of an optical device 100 of the sixth embodiment at the same position as in Fig. 4. The optical device 100 of this embodiment includes a lens 20F instead of the lens 20A of the first embodiment.
[0088] Lens 20F has grooves 20e formed on a plurality of side surfaces 20c1 and a plurality of side surfaces 20d.
[0089] This embodiment also has the advantage that, since the number of grooves 20e is greater and the length of the grooves 20e is longer, the adhesive strength between the surface 10a1 and the lens 20A by the adhesive 30 can be increased.
[0090] [Seventh embodiment] Fig. 11 is a cross-sectional view of a part of an optical device 100 of the seventh embodiment at the same position as in Fig. 3. The optical device 100 of this embodiment includes a lens 20G instead of the lens 20A of the first embodiment.
[0091] The lens 20G has a rough surface 20g on the side surface 20c1. The rough surface 20g is an uneven structure provided on the side surface 20c1, and includes a plurality of minute concave portions (first concave portions) and a plurality of minute convex portions (first convex portions). The rough surface 20g is an area having a surface roughness greater than other parts of the surface of the lens 20G, i.e., areas other than the rough surface 20g. The rough surface 20g is provided so as to include a position in contact with the adhesive 30, for example, a position closer to the bottom surface 20a than the middle position of the side surface 20c1 in the Z direction. The rough surface 20g can be formed by, for example, fine particle blasting, chemical etching, or the like.
[0092] In this embodiment, since the rough surface 20g is provided, the area of the region of the surface (outer surface) of the lens 20A that is in contact with the adhesive 30 is larger than in a configuration in which the rough surface 20g is not provided. Therefore, according to this embodiment, for example, compared to a configuration in which the rough surface 20g is not provided, an advantage is obtained in that the adhesive strength between the surface 10a1 and the lens 20A by the adhesive 30 can be increased.
[0093] In this embodiment, the groove 20e is provided in the portion of the side surface 20c1 where the rough surface 20g is provided, but the groove 20e is not essential. The rough surface 20g may be provided on the side surfaces 20c2 and 20d or the bottom surface 20a, or may be provided on a plurality of surfaces among the bottom surface 20a and the side surfaces 20c and 20d.
[0094] [Eighth embodiment] Fig. 12 is a cross-sectional view of a part of the optical device 100 of the eighth embodiment at the same position as Fig. 3, and Fig. 13 is a cross-sectional view of a part of the optical device 100 of the eighth embodiment at the same position as Fig. 4. The optical device 100 of this embodiment includes a lens 20H instead of the lens 20A of the first embodiment. Fig. 14 is a plan view of the bottom surface 20a of the lens 20H.
[0095] As shown in FIGS. 12 to 14, the lens 20H has a plurality of grooves 20e on the bottom surface 20a. The plurality of grooves 20e includes grooves 20e extending in the X direction and grooves 20e extending in the Y direction, and both are open in the opposite direction of the Z direction. The plurality of grooves 20e intersect at the center of the bottom surface 20a and are connected to each other. The longitudinal end 20e1 of each groove 20e is open on one of the side surfaces 20c and 20d. The bottom surface 20a forms a protrusion 20f that protrudes relatively to the bottom surface of the groove 20e.
[0096] In the configuration in which the groove 20e is provided in the bottom surface 20a as in this embodiment, the same effects as in the configuration in which the groove 20e is provided in the side surfaces 20c and 20d as in the above embodiment can be obtained.
[0097] [Ninth embodiment] 15 is a plan view of the bottom surface 20a of a lens 20I of the ninth embodiment. The optical device 100 of this embodiment includes a lens 20I instead of the lens 20A of the first embodiment.
[0098] In this embodiment, the bottom surface 20a is provided with a groove 20e-3 similar to the groove 20e of the eighth embodiment, and a recess 20e-4 recessed in the center. The recess 20e-4 is a bottomed hole having a rectangular opening located a certain distance inside the outer periphery of the bottom surface 20a. The bottom surface 20a around the recess 20e-4 protrudes relatively to the bottom surface of the recess 20e-4, forming a protrusion 20f (protrusion) like a wall of equal width. In this case, the groove 20e-3 is provided on the protrusion 20f and functions as a notch that opens the recess 20e-4 in the X direction, the opposite direction to the X direction, the Y direction, or the opposite direction to the Y direction on the side surfaces 20c and 20d. The groove 20e-3 and the recess 20e-4 are an example of a first recess.
[0099] Even in the configuration in which the recess 20e-4 is provided in the bottom surface 20a as in this embodiment, the same effects as those of the eighth embodiment can be obtained.
[0100] [Tenth embodiment] 16 is a plan view of the bottom surface 20a of a lens 20J according to the tenth embodiment. The optical device 100 of this embodiment includes a lens 20J instead of the lens 20A of the first embodiment.
[0101] In this embodiment, the bottom surface 20a is provided with a plurality of cylindrical protrusions 20f protruding at a constant height in the opposite direction to the Z direction. The plurality of protrusions 20f are arranged in a matrix. In this embodiment, the bottom surface 20a forms a recess that is recessed relatively to the top surface of the protrusions 20f. In this case, the recess is open in the X direction, the opposite direction to the X direction, the Y direction, and the opposite direction to the Y direction. The shape of the protrusions 20f is not limited to a cylindrical shape.
[0102] The protrusions 20f can be formed by cutting, forming recesses in a mold, or the like.
[0103] Even in the configuration in which the protrusions 20f are provided on the bottom surface 20a as in this embodiment, the same effects as those of the seventh and eighth embodiments in which the grooves 20e or the recesses 20e-4 are provided on the bottom surface 20a can be obtained.
[0104] [Eleventh embodiment] Fig. 17 is a cross-sectional view of a part of the optical device 100 of the eleventh embodiment at the same position as in Fig. 3. The optical device 100 of this embodiment includes a lens 20K instead of the lens 20A of the first embodiment.
[0105] In this embodiment, the bottom surface 20a is provided with one protrusion 20f protruding in the opposite direction to the Z direction at its center. The protrusion 20f has a prismatic shape. The bottom surface 20a forms a recess that is recessed relatively to the top surface of the protrusion 20f. In this case, the recess is also open in the X direction, the opposite direction to the X direction, the Y direction, and the opposite direction to the Y direction. The shape of the protrusion 20f may be a shape other than a prismatic shape, such as a cylindrical shape.
[0106] In this embodiment, the surface 10a1 is provided with a recess 10e for accommodating the adhesive 30. The recess 10e (the surface forming the recess 10e) is in contact with the adhesive 30. In this embodiment, the area of the region of the surface 10a1 in contact with the adhesive 30 is larger than that in a configuration in which the recess 10e is not provided, because the recess 10e is provided. Therefore, according to this embodiment, for example, compared to a configuration in which the recess 10e is not provided, it is advantageous in that the adhesive strength between the surface 10a1 and the lens 20A by the adhesive 30 can be increased. The recess 10e is an example of a second recess.
[0107] Furthermore, in this embodiment, the recess 10e partially accommodates the protrusion 20f. In this case, the recess 10e can be used as a gentle positioning for the protrusion 20f. Such a positioning structure can be used, for example, for temporary positioning prior to the positioning step for obtaining the required optical path described above, or as a mark for temporary placement.
[0108] In this embodiment, the recess 10e is provided on the surface 10a1, but the same effect can be obtained even when one or a plurality of protrusions are provided instead of the recess 10e. In this case, the protrusion may be a projection or a convex ridge. The protrusion is an example of a second protrusion. In this case, a recess that accommodates the protrusion may be provided on the bottom surface 20a of the lens 20K. In this case, the recess is an example of a first recess.
[0109] Although the embodiment of the present invention has been illustrated above, the above embodiment is merely an example and is not intended to limit the scope of the invention. The above embodiment can be implemented in various other forms, and various omissions, substitutions, combinations, and modifications can be made without departing from the gist of the invention. In addition, the specifications of each configuration, shape, and the like (structure, type, direction, model, size, length, width, thickness, height, number, arrangement, position, material, etc.) can be appropriately changed and implemented.
[0110] For example, the optical component on which the first recess or the first convex portion is provided is not limited to the lens of the embodiment, but may be, for example, another lens or another optical component such as a mirror, a beam splitter, a combiner, an optical isolator, or a filter.
[0111] Furthermore, when a first recess or a first convex portion is provided on the second surface of an optical component, the first recess or first convex portion does not need to be provided on the second surface only in an area adjacent to the first surface, for example, only in an area closer to the first surface than the center of the second surface in the first direction, but may be provided so as to include a side farther from the first surface than the center position of the second surface in the first direction.
[0112] The first recess or first protrusion may be provided on both the first surface and the second surface.
[0113] The adhesive may be applied after the optical component is temporarily placed on the mounting surface, and in this case, the same effects as those of the above embodiment can be obtained in terms of a larger adhesive area and the removal of air bubbles.
[0114] Furthermore, the mounting surface may be provided on the housing, or on a component or member other than the Peltier module fixed to the housing. [Explanation of symbols]
