[0003] Japanese Patent Application Publication No. 2018-168866

[0004] The jig of Patent Document 1 requires the operator to sequentially remove a pair of brake pads inserted into the brake device one by one, which can be a burden for the operator.

[0005] The present disclosure has been made to solve the above-mentioned problems, and aims to provide a brake pad insertion / removal aid and a brake pad insertion / removal method that assist in the work of pulling out or inserting brake pads of a brake device mounted on a hoist.

[0006] The present disclosure applies to a brake pad insertion / extraction aid used when inserting or extracting a pair of brake pads installed in an interior space of an elevator hoisting machine through an opening that communicates with the interior space of the brake device. The pair of brake pads each have a threaded hole on its front surface facing the opening. The brake pad insertion / extraction aid includes a main body having a first flat surface and a second flat surface connected to form an L-shape in a cross section perpendicular to the longitudinal direction, two extraction screws threaded into each of the threaded hole portions, and two extraction nuts threaded onto each of the two long screws. The first flat surface has two through holes formed with diameters larger than the outer diameters of the extraction screws. During the operation of extracting the pair of brake pads, one end of each of the two extraction screws is configured to be threaded into the corresponding threaded hole portion when the extraction screws are inserted through the respective through holes, and the two extraction nuts are configured to be threaded between the other ends of the two extraction screws and the main body.

[0007] The present disclosure also relates to a brake pad insertion / extraction method for extracting a pair of brake pads installed in an interior space of an elevator hoisting machine brake device through an opening communicating with the interior space using the brake pad insertion / extraction aid. The brake pad insertion / extraction method includes a step of threading two extraction nuts onto two long extraction screws, respectively, a first installation step of placing the main body on the outer surface of the opening and passing one end of each of the two long extraction screws through each of the two through holes and threading one end of each screw hole into each of the two threaded hole portions, and a step of tightening the two extraction nuts.

[0008] Furthermore, in the brake pad insertion / extraction aid described above, the second flat surface portion has a pair of screw insertion holes arranged side by side in the longitudinal direction. The brake pad insertion / extraction aid has a pair of long insertion screws having heads at one end and threaded into the screw insertion holes at the other end. During the brake pad insertion operation, the main body portion is positioned in the internal space so that the second flat surface portion contacts the inner surface of the opening and the other ends of the pair of long insertion screws threaded into the screw insertion holes contact a front surface of the brake pad. A brake pad insertion / extraction method using the brake pad insertion / extraction aid to insert brake pads into an installation position through an opening communicating with the internal space of the brake device of an elevator hoisting machine includes the steps of: positioning the brake pad in the internal space at a position forward in the insertion direction from the installation position; a second installation step of positioning the main body portion in the internal space so that the second flat surface portion contacts the inner surface of the opening and the other ends of the pair of long insertion screws threaded into the screw insertion holes contact a front surface of the brake pad; and a step of tightening the pair of long insertion screws.

[0009] The brake pad insertion / removal aid disclosed herein allows a pair of left and right brake pads to be removed at once with little force, thereby reducing the burden on the worker.

[0011] Hereinafter, an embodiment will be described with reference to the drawings. Note that elements common to the various drawings are given the same reference numerals and redundant explanations will be omitted.

[0012] 1 is a perspective view showing the external configuration of a brake device to which an insertion / extraction assisting tool according to an embodiment of the present invention is applied. The brake device 10 shown in this figure is a disc brake device mounted on an elevator hoist. The brake device 10 includes a case body 12 and a brake disc 14. An internal space 16 is formed in the case body 12. The internal space 16 is in communication with the external space through a rectangular opening 18.

[0013] Figure 2 is a view of the brake device as seen from the front side of the opening. A pair of brake pads 20, 22 are inserted into the internal space 16 of the brake device 10 on both the left and right sides of the brake disc 14. In addition to the pair of brake pads 20, 22, several other components are attached to the internal space 16 of the brake device 10, but are not shown in Figure 2.

[0014] The pair of brake pads 20, 22 are configured to be insertable and removable through the opening 18. In the following description, the direction in which the pair of brake pads 20, 22 are removed from the brake device 10 is referred to as the "removal direction," and the direction opposite to the removal direction is referred to as the "insertion direction." Furthermore, the up-down and left-right directions when viewing the opening 18 of the brake device 10 from the front, as shown in Figure 2, are defined as the up-down and left-right directions of the brake device 10. Threaded holes 201, 221 for removal are provided in front portions 20a, 22a of the brake pads 20, 22 facing the opening. The thread diameter of the threaded holes 201, 221 is, for example, M8.

[0015] 2. Configuration of the Brake Pad Insertion / Removal Aid for an Elevator Hoist Machine According to an Embodiment The brake device 10 of an elevator hoist machine is periodically inspected by an operator. Replacement parts during inspection may include, for example, a pair of brake pads 20, 22. Replacing the pair of brake pads 20, 22 typically involves threading bolts into the threaded holes 201, 221 and then removing the brake pads together with the bolts. However, removing the brake pads 20, 22, which are tightly fitted together, can be difficult and may be a heavy task for the operator.

[0016] The brake pad insertion / removal aid of this embodiment is a tool used during maintenance work on such a brake device 10 to assist in the work of removing the pair of brake pads 20, 22. Figure 3 is a diagram illustrating the component configuration of the brake pad insertion / removal aid. The insertion / removal aid includes a main body 30, two long extraction screws 32, two extraction nuts 34, two flat washers 36, two long insertion screws 38, and four nuts 40.

[0017] The main body 30 is an angle bar having an L-shaped cross section, in which a first flat surface 301 and a second flat surface 302 are connected so as to form an L-shape in a cross section perpendicular to the longitudinal direction. In the following description, the surface on which the planar angle between the first flat surface 301 and the second flat surface 302 is 90 degrees is defined as the back surface, and the surface on which the planar angle is 270 degrees is defined as the front surface.

[0018] Two through holes 303 are formed in the first flat portion 301 along the longitudinal direction. FIG. 4 is a perspective view of the main body of the insertion / extraction assisting tool as viewed from the back side of the first flat portion. The pitch between the two through holes 303 is the same as the pitch between the screw holes 201, 221 of the pair of brake pads 20, 22 attached to the brake device 10. For example, the two through holes 303 are formed at positions 30 mm apart from the longitudinal center of the first flat portion 301 toward each end. The diameters of the two through holes 303 are larger than the outer diameter of the extraction screw 32. For example, if the thread diameter of the extraction screw 32 is M8, the diameter φ of the two through holes 303 is 10 mm to 12 mm.

[0019] A guide label 309 is attached to the back surface of the first flat surface 301 to guide the user when removing the brake pads 20, 22. The guide label 309 here has the words "pad removal side" and an arrow mark indicating the direction from the base end to the tip end in the short direction of the first flat surface 301. There are no limitations on the shape, number, or arrangement of the guide label 309. For example, the guide label 309 may be configured as a single label. Chamfered portions 310 are formed at the corners of both ends of the first flat surface 301 in the longitudinal direction. There are no limitations on the shape or size of the chamfered portions 310.

[0020] The second flat surface portion 302 is formed with a positioning through hole 304 and two insertion screw holes 305. Figure 5 is a perspective view of the main body of the insertion / removal assisting tool as seen from the front side of the second flat surface portion. The positioning through hole 304 is formed in the longitudinal center of the second flat surface portion 302. The diameter of the positioning through hole 304 is larger than the outer diameter of the extraction screw 32. For example, if the thread diameter of the extraction screw 32 is M8, the diameter φ of the positioning through hole 304 is set to 10 mm. Note that the positioning through hole 304 is not an essential component.

[0021] The two screw insertion holes 305 are formed on both longitudinal sides of the positioning through hole 304. The two screw insertion holes 305 are formed, for example, by forming through holes in the second flat surface portion 302 and welding nuts to the positions of the through holes from the front side. The thread diameter of the screw insertion holes 305 is a thread diameter that can be threaded with the long screw insertion screws 38. For example, if the long screw insertion screws 38 are M10 threads, the thread diameter of the long screw insertion screws 38 is M10. The pitch between the two screw insertion holes 305 is set to a width that is smaller than the vertical width dimension of the brake pad 20 attached to the brake device 10. For example, the two screw insertion holes 305 are formed at positions 40 mm apart from the center in the longitudinal direction toward each end.

[0022] Guide labels 306, 308 are attached to the surface of the second flat portion 302 to guide the insertion of the brake pads 20, 22. The guide label 306 is attached in a position above the upper insertion screw hole 305 when the second flat portion 302 is oriented vertically with the first flat portion 301 facing right. The guide label 306 is marked with the words "pad insertion side R" and an arrow mark indicating the direction toward the leading end of the second flat portion 302 in the longitudinal direction. The guide label 308 is attached in a position above the upper insertion screw hole 305 when the second flat portion 302 is oriented vertically with the first flat portion 301 facing left. The guide label 308 is marked with the words "pad insertion side L" and an arrow mark indicating the direction toward the leading end of the second flat portion 302 in the longitudinal direction. The shape and quantity of the guide labels 309 are not limited. For example, each of the guide label portions 306, 308 may be configured as a single label, or may be divided into multiple labels. The second flat portion 302 has chamfered corners at both ends in the longitudinal direction, each of which is formed with a chamfered portion 312. The shape and size of the chamfered portion 312 are not limited.

[0023] The two extractor screws 32 are configured to be able to thread into the respective threaded holes 201, 221 of the pair of brake pads 20, 22 attached to the brake device 10. The extractor screws 32 are, for example, bolts with hexagonal heads. Alternatively, the extractor screws 32 may be fully threaded bolts without heads. The extractor screws 32 have a thread diameter that allows them to pass through the through holes 303 of the main body 30. When the diameter φ of the through holes 303 is 10 mm, the thread diameter of the extractor screws 32 is, for example, M8. The extractor screws 32 have a length that allows them to protrude from the opening 18 toward the outer surface of the case main body 12 when they are threaded into the threaded holes 201, 221 of the pair of brake pads 20, 22 attached to the brake device 10.

[0024] The two extraction nuts 34 are nuts that can be screwed onto the two long extraction screws 32, respectively. The two flat washers 36 are washers that are passed through the two long extraction screws 32, respectively. The two long extraction screws 32 are threaded onto the two extraction nuts 34, respectively, and passed through the two flat washers 36, respectively, and then passed through the two through holes 303 of the main body 30 from the back side.

[0025] The two long insertion screws 38 are, for example, fully threaded bolts without heads. The two long insertion screws 38 are configured to be able to be threaded into the two respective insertion screw holes 305 of the main body 30. A pair of nuts 40 are closely threadedly engaged with one end of the long insertion screws 38. The pair of nuts 40 are non-rotatably fixed to the long insertion screws 38 by a so-called double-nut action. In other words, the pair of nuts 40 function as the heads of the long insertion screws 38. Note that the long insertion screws 38 may also be bolts with heads. In this case, the pair of nuts 40 is not necessary.

[0026] The long insertion screw 38 has a thread diameter that allows it to be passed through the threaded insertion hole 305 of the main body 30. If the thread diameter of the threaded insertion hole 305 is M10, the thread diameter of the long extraction screw 32 is also M10. The long insertion screw 38 has a length that allows it to protrude from the opening 18 toward the outer surface of the case main body 12 of the brake device 10 when the brake pads 20, 22 are inserted into the brake device 10 by an insertion operation that will be described later.

[0027] 3. Method for Inserting and Removing Brake Pads Using Brake Pad Insertion and Removal Aid Next, the procedure for removing and inserting brake pads using the brake pad insertion and removal aid of the embodiment will be described in detail.

[0028] Preparation Process: Process for Removing Shoe Holders, etc. As a preliminary preparation, an operator removes the shoe holders, etc. from the brake device 10. This exposes the front portions 20a, 22a of the pair of brake pads 20, 22.

[0029] First Step: First Installation Step of the Brake Pad Insertion / Removal Aid. Figures 6 and 7 are diagrams illustrating the installation step of the brake pad insertion / removal aid during the removal process. Figure 8 is a schematic diagram of the brake pad insertion / removal aid installed during the installation step, viewed from above, with the case body cut horizontally. In the first step of the work, the worker threads extraction nuts 34 onto each of the two long extraction screws 32 and passes flat washers 36 through them. The worker holds the main body 30 on the outside of the case body 12 with the longitudinal direction of the main body 30 aligned left and right and with the arrow mark on the guide label 309 on the back side of the first flat portion 301 facing upward. This positions the main body 30 horizontally and with the second flat portion 302 positioned below the first flat portion 301. Then, the worker passes the extraction screw 32 through the through-hole 303 on the right side of the main body 30 from the back surface side and screws it into the threaded hole 201 of the brake pad 20. Similarly, the worker passes the other extraction screw 32 through the through-hole 303 on the left side of the main body 30 from the back surface side and screws it into the threaded hole 221 of the brake pad 22. The main body 30 is configured so that the overall length L1 in the longitudinal direction is greater than the lateral opening width W1, which is the width of the opening 18 in the left-right direction. Therefore, both ends on the front surface side of the first flat surface 301 come into contact with the outer surface 121 of the case main body 12.

[0030] Second Step: Extraction Step Figure 9 is a diagram illustrating the brake pad extraction step in the extraction work. In the second step of the work, the worker prepares a spanner wrench 50 that matches the size of the extraction nuts 34 and uses the spanner wrench 50 to evenly tighten the left and right extraction nuts 34. There are no limitations on the spanner wrench 50 that can be used. Figure 9 illustrates the use of a ratchet-type open-end wrench as the spanner wrench 50. As the extraction nuts 34 are tightened, the extraction screws 32 move relatively in the extraction direction. As a result, each of the pair of brake pads 20, 22 connected to the extraction screws 32 is extracted in the extraction direction with a small force.

[0031] Next, a method for inserting the pair of brake pads 20, 22 using the brake pad insertion / removal aid of the embodiment will be described in detail.

[0032] Third Step: Brake Pad Preparation Step In the third step of the work, the worker places the pair of brake pads 20, 22 to be newly installed in a position in the internal space 16 before the mounting position in the insertion direction.

[0033] Fourth Step: Second Installation Step of the Brake Pad Insertion / Removal Aid. Figure 10 is a diagram illustrating the installation step of the brake pad insertion / removal aid during the brake pad insertion process. Figure 11 is a schematic diagram of the brake pad insertion / removal aid installed during the installation step, viewed from the left side, with the case body cut along a vertical plane parallel to the insertion direction. In the fourth step of the work, the worker holds the main body 30 in the internal space 16 of the case body 12 with the arrow mark on the guide label 306 on the front side of the second flat surface 302 facing upward. This positions the main body 30 so that the first flat surface 301 is positioned on the outer surface side of the brake pad 20. Then, the worker passes the extraction nut 34 through the positioning through-hole 304 from the front side and screws it into the threaded hole 201 of the right-side brake pad 20. Next, the worker secures a pair of nuts 40 to one end of each of the two long insertion screws 38 and threads the other end into each of the two insertion screw holes 305. The main body 30 is configured so that the overall length L1 in the longitudinal direction is greater than the vertical opening width H1, which is the width of the opening 18 in the up-down direction. Therefore, both ends on the front surface side of the second flat surface 302 come into contact with the inner surface 122 of the case main body 12.

[0034] Fifth Step: Inserting the Brake Pad 20 In the fifth step of the work, the worker prepares a spanner wrench that matches the size of the nut 40 and uses the spanner wrench to evenly tighten each of the nuts 40 secured to the two upper and lower long insertion screws 38. There are no limitations on the type of spanner wrench that can be used. As the nuts 40 are tightened, the long insertion screws 38 secured to the nuts 40 move relatively in the insertion direction. The tips of the two long insertion screws 38 press evenly against the front portion 20a of the brake pad 20 in the insertion direction. This allows the brake pad 20 to be inserted into the brake device 10 with little force.

[0035] Sixth Step: Second Installation Step of Brake Pad Insertion / Removal Aid In the sixth step of the work, the worker holds the main body 30 on the side of the internal space 16 of the case body 12 with the arrow mark on the guide label 308 on the front side of the second flat surface 302 facing upward. This holds the main body 30 so that the first flat surface 301 is positioned on the outer surface side of the brake pad 20. Then, the worker passes the extraction nut 34 through the positioning through hole 304 from the front side and screws it into the threaded hole 221 of the left brake pad 22. Next, the worker secures a pair of nuts 40 to one end of each of the two long insertion screws 38 and screws the other end into each of the two insertion screw holes 305.

[0036] Seventh Step: Inserting the Brake Pads 22 In the seventh step, similar to the fifth step, the nuts 40 fixed to the upper and lower long insertion screws 38 are tightened evenly with a spanner wrench. This allows the brake pads 22 to be inserted into the brake device 10 with little force. Finally, necessary parts such as shoe holders are attached.

[0037] 4. Functions and Effects of the Brake Pad Insertion / Removal Aid The brake pad insertion / removal aid described above provides the following functions and effects.

[0038] The main body 30 has a shape in which the first flat portion 301 and the second flat portion 302 are connected to form an L-shape in a cross section perpendicular to the longitudinal direction. This shape ensures strength with a simple configuration.

[0039] The main body 30 is configured so that the pitch between the two through holes 303 is the same as the pitch between the screw holes 201, 221 of the pair of brake pads 20, 22 attached to the brake device 10. With this configuration, when the two long extraction screws 32 are threaded into the screw holes 201, 221, respectively, the two long extraction screws 32 become parallel, which prevents the main body 30 from shifting position when the extraction nuts 34 are tightened.

[0040] The main body 30 is configured so that the total length L1 in the longitudinal direction is greater than the lateral opening width W1 of the opening 18. With this configuration, when the main body 30 is placed in front of the opening 18 with its longitudinal direction aligned with the left-right direction of the opening during the operation of removing the brake pads 20, 22, it is possible to ensure that both ends of the main body 30 come into contact with the outer surface 121 of the case body 12.

[0041] Furthermore, the main body 30 is configured so that the overall length of the first flat portion 301 in the short direction is narrower than the vertical height of the opening 18. With this configuration, when the main body 30 is oriented so that its longitudinal direction coincides with the left-right direction of the opening during the work of removing the brake pads 20, 22, the work can be carried out while visually checking the internal space 16 through the opening 18.

[0042] The main body 30 is configured so that the total length L1 in the longitudinal direction is greater than the vertical opening width H1 of the opening 18. With this configuration, when the main body 30 is placed in the internal space 16 with its longitudinal direction aligned with the height direction of the opening 18 during the insertion of the brake pads 20, 22, both ends of the main body 30 can be reliably brought into contact with the inner surface 122 of the case body 12.

[0043] Furthermore, the main body 30 is configured so that the overall length of the second flat portion 302 in the short direction is narrower than the left-right width of the opening 18. With this configuration, the main body 30 can be positioned in the internal space 16 during the insertion of the brake pads 20, 22.

[0044] Each of the two long extraction screws 32 has a length such that when one end is threaded into the threaded holes 201, 221 of the brake pads 20, 22 attached to the brake device 10, the other end protrudes from the opening 18. With this configuration, the two long extraction screws 32 can be passed through the through holes 303 of the main body 30, and then the extraction nuts 34 can be threaded onto the long extraction screws 32 and tightened.

[0045] Each of the two long extraction screws 32 has a flat washer threaded through the gap between the body 30 and the extraction nut 34. This configuration makes it easy to tighten the extraction nut 34.

[0046] When removing the brake pads 20, 22, the main body 30 is oriented so that the second flat surface 302 is located below the first flat surface 301. This configuration allows the worker to tighten the removal nut 34 while visually checking the removal nut 34. Furthermore, the worker can operate the spanner wrench 50 above the main body 30, improving work efficiency.

[0047] The main body 30 has chamfered corners 310, 312 at the leading edge of the first flat surface 301 in the short direction and at the leading edge of the second flat surface 302 in the short direction. This configuration facilitates insertion into narrow spaces, such as when installing the main body 30 in the internal space 16. It also prevents the corners from getting caught on the case body 12 or the like and causing scratches. This is also effective in preventing injuries to workers.

[0048] When inserting the brake pad 20, the long extraction screw 32 is passed through the positioning through-hole 304 and then threaded into the threaded hole 201 of the brake pad 20. This configuration makes it easy to position the main body 30 relative to the brake pad 20. The same applies to the insertion of the brake pad 22.

[0049] The two screw insertion holes 305 are formed at positions where, when the pair of long insertion screws 38 are threadedly engaged with each other, the tip ends of the pair of long insertion screws 38 come into contact with the front surface 20a of the brake pad 20. With this configuration, by evenly tightening the pair of long insertion screws 38, it is possible to insert the brake pad 20 to the correct position.

[0050] A pair of nuts 40 are fixed to one end of the long insertion screw 38 in a so-called double-nut configuration. With this configuration, the nut 40 on the main body 30 side functions as a restricting member that prevents the open-end wrench hung on the nut 40 on the end side from shifting in the insertion direction. This improves the work efficiency of the worker who handles the nuts 40.

[0051] When inserting the brake pad 20, the main body 30 is positioned so that the first flat surface 301 is located on the right side of the outer surface of the brake pad 20. When inserting the brake pad 22, the main body 30 is positioned so that the first flat surface 301 is located on the right side of the outer surface of the brake pad 22. This positioning allows the operator to easily view the internal space 16 from the opening 18, improving workability.
