Method for obtaining amorphous silica modified with phytic acid

Abstract

The subject of the application is a method for obtaining amorphous silica modified with phytic acid by a mechanochemical method. Pure silica or colloidal silica, defined by Formula 1, is introduced into a ball mill, followed by the addition of 50% aqueous phytic acid solution, defined by Formula 2, in a silica:phytic acid mass ratio of 99:1 to 4:1. Distilled water is then added in a silica:distilled water mass ratio of 1:2, and the grinding process is carried out at room temperature for at least 1 hour, at a rotational intensity of 400-600 rpm, preferably 600. After 5 to 15 minutes, preferably 10 minutes, the process is interrupted for 10 minutes and the direction of rotation is reversed. The finished system is then placed in a stationary dryer and dried by convection at 60°C for 24 hours.
