Abstract
Description
BACKGROUND OF THE PRESENT INVENTION
[0001] As is public knowledge from the state of the art, barrier-type devices are commonly used to control vehicle traffic and access on different roads.
[0002] As an example, we can cite the document “US2013071182A1”, entitled “A DUAL ARM BARRIER ASSEMBLY” comprising spaced-apart stanchions and a pair of barrier arms pivotally connected to a first stanchion for movement between closed and open positions. The barrier arms have distal end portions immediately adjacent to and out of engagement with the second stanchion when in the closed position during normal operation and when the vehicle is out of engagement with the barrier arms. The first barrier arm in the closed position is at a height corresponding to vehicle's windshield, and the second barrier arm in the closed position is below the first barrier arm and is at a height corresponding approximately to the vehicle's body or frame. The second stanchion engages the barrier arms only when the vehicle presses against barrier arms, thereby securely retaining the barrier arms in the closed position.
[0003] It happens that such devices end up not resisting or even preventing a forced passage, because their tilting arms were not designed to resist an unexpected vehicle forced crossing attempt, and then they collapse not preventing the unauthorized passage of such vehicle, in addition to causing damage to the tilting arms, which will need to repaired or may be even irreversible and then will need to be totally replaced thus causing financial losses.SUMMARY OF PRESENT INVENTION
[0004] In order to solve such inconveniences, the inventor of the present patent request developed an equipment formed by two units of opposing barriers, which at first will act as a barrier aimed at the vehicles traffic control on roads, and in the event of an vehicle attempt to forcibly pass, in other words, with the barriers closed, when the vehicle collides against the tilting arms it causes the dismantling of the said arm junction segments, and in this condition, the inertial force of the vehicle in movement causes the pairs of cables to be pulled, keeping all the junction segments hanging, while the traction ends up unwinding the aforementioned pairs of cables from the spools, which in a continuous act, such movement is detected by the sensors that automatically activate the brakes by pressing the discs gradually stopping the spools forced rotation and consequently, this effect causes the cable pairs traction in the tilting arms, absorbing the collision impact and causing the gradual vehicle deceleration (braking) to its complete standstill, preventing its forced passage.
[0005] In order to return the equipment to its initial condition of use, after the vehicle has been removed, the geared motor is restarted, in order to rewind and tension the cables pairs, causing all the junction segments to be automatically reoriented and realigned, when each female terminal is recoupled to the respective male terminal of the following junction segment, until the tilting arms are properly erect and ready to be reused.BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0006] The present patent application is better understood according to the attached drawings as follows:
[0007] FIG. 1—Schematic view in elevation showing the equipment with its opposing barriers in the closed position (closed vehicle access), while “detail A” also schematically shows the gear segment, and “detail B” shows the union of the female terminals that coincides with the male terminal of a series of junction segments, each of them being connected to each other by one of the respective cables pairs tensioning, as well as the union promoted by the articulating pin with return spring.
[0008] FIGS. 2 and 3—Sequential schematic view, according to the previous figure, demonstrating the actuator motor connected to rotate the toothed segment through its gear, which in turn moves radially around its axis, dragging both tilting arms with it, simultaneously with the release of the terminals coupling, promoting the opening of the road.
[0009] FIGS. 4 and 5—Sequential schematic view, demonstrating the coupling of the male connector to the female connector.
[0010] FIG. 6—Plan view according to “figure 1”, representatively demonstrating a vehicle positioned in front of the gates, and in its “detail C”, the extension sections connected to each other, and maintained in this way by the pair of passing tensioned cables, are schematically highlighted in its longitudinal holes.
[0011] FIG. 7—View according to the previous figure, demonstrating a forced attempt to pass the vehicle, that is, with the gates closed, where it even hits the tilting arms, which in this condition, the force of the vehicle causes the pairs of cables to be pulled, keeping the tilting arms hanging, while the traction ends up unwinding the aforementioned pairs of cables from the spools forcibly, therefore, such movement is perceived by the movement sensors that automatically activate the brakes by pressing the discs, gradually stopping the forced rotation of the spools, and consequently, this effect directly affects the cable pairs of the tilting arms, causing the vehicle to gradually stop.DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
[0012] In accordance with the attached drawings, the present application for an invention is a barrier-type equipment for vehicles traffic and access control, with a dismantling and reassembling system to tilt the arms and stop the vehicle in the event of a forced passage attempt, where the equipment (1) formed by two opposing barrier units, so that each of them is equipped respectively with a spool (2) coupled to a gear motor (3), in addition to having a central span (4) followed by a disc (5) coincident with a braking device (6) as well as, aligns with a motion sensor (7). In its central span (4) a series of coiled cables pairs (8) extend inside the column (9) where they are diflected by a pulley (10) directing each pair of cable (8) to the gear segment (11) connected to a shaft (12), as well as its teeth (13) are coupled to the gear (14) of an actuator motor (15). Each gear segment (11) also has a female terminal (16) that coincides with the male terminal (17) from a series of extension segments (18), each of which is connected to each other by one of the aforementioned cables pairs (8) which pass through longitudinal channels (19) inside each extension segment (18), ending in a coupling terminal (20) forming a tilting arm (21), while the said coupling terminal (20) connects respectively to the coupling terminal (20) of the tilting arm (21) connecting the barrier (22) with the opposing barrier (23), and the equipment (1) is also completed in such a way that the tilting arms (21) are joined by signaling strips (24), strategically attached by their ends to the lateral coupling holes (25). The said coupling terminal (20) is composed of a male connector (26) and a female connector (27), both of which are equipped with a connection sleeve (28) screwed to their respective extension segments (18) of the tilting arm (21) , as well as, both are equipped with terminal holes (29) for the ends of the cables (8), which in turn are held in place by a locking plate (30). The female connector (27) has a T shaped slot (31) that coincides with a protruding profile (32) shaped with a pyramidal recess (33) to aid driving. Each extension segment (18) also receives an articulating pin (34) with a return spring (35), which passes through the male terminal (17) and the protrusions (36) delimited by the recess of the female terminal (16).
[0013] Optionally, the gear motor (3) can be replaced by spiral springs, promoting automatic rewinding of the cables (8).
[0014] Thus constituted, the present equipment (1) will be used to control vehicle traffic along the roads. To this end, once the equipment (1) is properly installed to promote blocking, the vehicles (V) stop in front of the tilting arms (21) duly marked by the signaling strips (24). With the appropriate release, the actuator motor (15) is turned on to rotate the gear segment (11) by its gear (14), which in turn moves radially around its shaft (12) dragging both tilting arms (21) with it, simultaneously releasing the coupling terminals (20), thus releasing the vehicle (V), which, when passing, the actuator motors (15) activate the reverse mode promoting the descent of said tilting arms (21) until the coupling terminals (20) meet, causing linear locking of both, caused by the coupling of female conector (27) by its “T” shaped slot (31) and the “T” shaped protruding profile (32) beveled portion (33) which is incorporated into the male connector (26).
[0015] In the event of a forced attempt to pass the vehicle (V), that is, with the barriers (22) and (23) closed, it impacts against the tilting arms (21) causing them to dismantle and detach from the columns (9). In this condition, the force of the vehicle (V) causes the pairs of cables (8) to be pulled, keeping all the tilting arms (21) hanging, whilst the traction ends up unwinding said pairs of cables (8) from the spools (2) in a forced manner, therefore, such movement is perceived by the motion sensors (7) which automatically activate the braking devices (6) by pressing the discs (5) gradually stopping the forced rotation of the spools (2) and consequently, this effect affects directly onto the pairs of cables (8) of the tilting arms (21), gradually stopping the vehicle (V), preventing its forced passage. In this condition, and with the vehicle properly removed, the gearmotor (3) starts its torque, to rewind the cable pairs (8). In this condition, always by driving the pulleys (10), all the tilting arms (21) are oriented and guided by the pairs of cables (8), until the tilting arms (21) remain properly erect and ready to be used again.
[0016] In this condition, the present equipment (1) in addition to recovering itself after a forced attempt to pass, will also stop the vehicle (V) preventing its passage, guaranteeing safety and efficiency in controlling traffic on the roads.
[0017] As an additional possible form of use, the present invention can be placed on the exit ramps of vehicles exiting the highway and on entrance ramps, preventing drivers from accessing the path in the wrong direction, that is, in the wrong direction. It is also worth mentioning that the present invention can also work together with conventional radar systems, with the purpose of detecting the vehicle traveling in the wrong direction, in which case, the tilting arm (21) descends, forming a barrier, forcing the vehicle travels in the wrong direction to return, and starts traveling in the correct direction.
