Description

HOUSING AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING A HOUSING

[0001] A housing is specified. Furthermore, a method for producing a housing is specified.

[0002] One problem to be solved is, inter alia, to specify an improved housing that is particularly impenetrable for moisture and / or corrosion gas. Another problem to be solved is, inter alia, to specify a method for producing such a housing.

[0003] These problems are solved, inter alia, by a housing comprising the features of independent claim 1 and by a method comprising the features of independent claim 12, respectively. Advantageous embodiments and further developments are the subject matter of the respective dependent patent claims.

[0004] According to at least one embodiment, the housing is a housing for an electric device. In particular, together with the electric device, the housing forms a package such as a so-called Quad Flat No Leads Package, also abbreviated to “QFN package” .

[0005] For example, the electric device is an optoelectronic semiconductor device. The optoelectronic semiconductor device is preferably configured to emit or receive electromagnetic radiation. In particular, the optoelectronic semiconductor device comprises at least one semiconductor layer sequence comprising an active zone. For example, the active zone is configured to generate or absorb electromagnetic radiation.

[0006] The semiconductor layer sequence is preferably based on an III-V semiconductor compound material. The electromagnetic radiation generated in the active zone may comprise wavelengths between an infrared wavelength range and an ultraviolet wavelength range of the electromagnetic spectrum. For example, the electromagnetic radiation comprises at least one wavelength of the visible wavelength range. For example, the electric device is a light-emitting diode or a laser diode.

[0007] Additionally or alternatively, the electric device may be any other suitable electric device, for example a semiconductor electronic component or the like.

[0008] According to at least one embodiment, the housing comprises a mold body comprising a first mold material and a second mold material. Preferably, the mold body and / or the first and second mold material are electrically insulating. The first and second mold material may each comprise at least one of the following materials: an epoxy raisin such as an epoxy material compound (also referred to as “EMC” ) , a silicon, a polymer. In particular, these materials may form a matrix material of each of the first and second mold material. It is possible that at least one filler is embedded in the matrix material of each of the first and second mold material. The filler may comprise a plurality of filler particles, for example, titan dioxide particles or the like. By choosing a specific combination of matrix material and filler, physical properties of the first and / or second mold material may be determined. The properties are, for example, optical or mechanical properties.

[0009] If, for example, the electric device is a light-emitting semiconductor device, materials of each of the first and second mold material may be chosen such that electromagnetic radiation emitted by the electric device is efficiently emitted out of the housing.

[0010] Additionally or alternatively, materials of the first and second mold material may be chosen such that a comparably good adhesion between the first and second mold material is achieved.

[0011] According to at least one embodiment, the housing comprises a base layer. The base layer is in particular formed with at least one metal lead frame part and the first mold material. In particular, the base layer comprises an assembly surface for the electric device. For example, if the base layer comprises at least two metal lead frame parts, the lead frame parts are separated from one another by at least one intermediate space. The intermediate space is preferably filled with the first mold material. That is, the first mold material mechanically connects the lead frame parts.

[0012] The metal lead frame part is, for example, formed with at least one metal such as copper. For example, the metal lead frame part forms an electric contact structure for the electric device. That is, the electric device is preferably supplied with current and / or voltage by means of the metal lead frame part. It is possible that the electric device is attached to the assembly surface by means of a contact material. The contact material comprises, for example, a solder layer.

[0013] In particular, the assembly surface is at least partially formed by the metal lead frame part. For example, the assembly surface is an electric contact surface for the electric device.

[0014] The metal lead frame part is at least partially surrounded by the first mold material. Preferably, the material of the first mold material is chosen to provide a good adhesion between the metal lead frame part and the first mold material. Preferably, the first mold material is exclusively arranged on side faces extending perpendicular to the assembly of the metal lead frame part. Preferably, the first and second main surface of the metal lead frame part of the of the first mold material. In particular, the first main surface comprises the assembly surface of the second main surface opposite to the first main surface.

[0015] According to at least one embodiment, the housing comprises at least one recess in which the assembly surface is accessible. That is, the recess extends to or from the assembly surface. It is possible that, in view of the assembly surface, the assembly surface is visible at a bottom of the recess.

[0016] For example, the recess is filled with a casting. The casting may comprise an epoxy raisin, silicon, and / or a polymer. Additionally, the casting may comprise at least one filler material. In particular, the casting is adapted to the electric device. That is if, for example, the electric device is a light-emitting optoelectronic semiconductor device, the casting may be transparent or translucent for electromagnetic radiation emitted by the light-emitting optoelectronic semiconductor device. In this case, the casting may have a  transmission coefficient of at least 90%or at least 95%or at least 99%for radiation emitted by the light-emitting optoelectronic semiconductor device during operation.

[0017] According to at least one embodiment of the housing, the base layer comprises through holes. In particular, the second mold material is arranged in the through holes. The through holes may be directly adjacent to both the first mold material and the metal lead frame part. In particular, the through holes penetrate the base layer completely. In the through holes, the second mold material may be in direct contact to both the first mold material and the metal lead frame part.

[0018] According to at least one embodiment of the housing, sidewalls of the recess are formed by the second mold material. The sidewalls of the recess extend transversal, in particular perpendicular, to the assembly surface. A bottom of the recess is preferably formed by the assembly surface.

[0019] In particular, the electric device can be arranged in the recess. That is, the sidewalls of the recess surround the electric device at least partially or preferably completely. A height of the sidewalls of the recess measured perpendicular to the assembly surface and starting from the assembly surface is preferably larger than a height of the electric device or the electric device together with the contact material.

[0020] Preferably, the sidewalls of the recess are formed exclusively by the second mold material. That is, the sidewalls of the recess are preferably free of the first mold material and / or the metal lead frame part. Consequently, the electric device is, in particular, laterally surrounded  exclusively by the second mold material. “Laterally” means here and in the following in a direction parallel to the assembly surface. In particular, the second mold material projects beyond the electric device as seen from the assembly surface. This means that, in this case, the electric device is not visible in a side view of the housing. In particular, the electric device is only visible in a view of the assembly surface.

[0021] In particular, the second mold material arranged in the through holes of the base layer and the second mold material forming the sidewalls of the recess are formed in one piece. For example, all of the second mold material is applied in one common method step during production of the housing.

[0022] According to at least one embodiment of the housing, outer side surfaces of the housing transverse to the assembly surface are free of the metal lead frame part. In particular, outer side surfaces of the housing are externally accessible, for example, outer side surfaces of the housing opposite to sidewalls of the recess.

[0023] In at least one embodiment, a housing for an electric device comprises a mold body comprising a first mold material in a second mold material. The housing further comprises a base layer formed with at least one metal lead frame part and the first mold material, and comprises an assembly surface for the electric device. The housing further comprises at least one recess, in which the assembly surface is accessible. The base layer comprises through holes, wherein the second mold material is arranged in the through holes. Sidewalls of the recess are formed with the second mold material and outer  side surfaces of the housing transverse to the assembly surface are free of the metal lead frame part.

[0024] The housing described herein is based on the following technical considerations. In common packages formed by a mold body and metal lead frame parts, tie bars of the metal lead frame parts extend through side surfaces of the package. In particular, during production of the package, the tie bars connect a plurality of lead frame parts provided in a compound. After separation of the compound into individual elements, the tie bars remain at the side surfaces of the package. An interface between the tie bars and the mold body is comparably badly sealed. Consequently, this interface forms a penetration path for moisture and / or corrosion gas that may harm and / or alter the electric device of the package. Hence, the lifespan of the electric device may be reduced. In particular, dew tests and H2S corrosion are challenging problems for QFN packages.

[0025] The housing described herein makes use of the idea to use a mold body comprising two mold materials in order to eradicate the moisture and / or corrosion gas penetration path. In particular, tie bars of the metal lead frame part are removed and replaced by through holes in the base layer. This allows a formation of outer side surfaces of the housing to be free of material of the metal lead frame part. Furthermore, the first and second mold material may be adapted for particularly good adhesion. That is, by an interface between the first and second mold material a penetration of moisture and / or corrosion gas from the environment of the housing to the recess is advantageously reduced or eradicated.

[0026] A more hermetic package design is possible with the housing described herein. In particular, such a housing and / or package could easily meet dew testing requirements and pass a H2S corrosion test.

[0027] According to at least one embodiment, the housing is hermetically sealed. In particular, the housing is hermetically sealed by the mold body and the casting filling the recess. “Hermetically sealed” means herein and in the following that essentially no moisture and / or gas may penetrate from outside of the housing. In particular if an electric element is arranged in the housing, no moisture and / or corrosion gas can penetrate the element device from outside of the housing.

[0028] According to at least one embodiment, at the outer side surface of the housing is formed with the first mold material, at least in places. That is, in view of the outer side surfaces of the housing, the first mold material is visible.

[0029] According to at least one embodiment of the housing, side faces of the metal lead frame part are in direct contact with the first mold material and the second mold material. Side faces of the metal lead frame part extend transversal, in particular perpendicular, to the assembly surface. For example, the side faces of the metal lead frame part are in direct contact with the first and second mold material in the through holes.

[0030] According to at least one embodiment of the housing, back surfaces of the metal lead frame part opposite to the assembly surface are free of the second mold material. In  particular, back surfaces of the metal lead frame part are all surfaces opposite to the assembly surface.

[0031] If, for example, the metal lead frame part comprises a step, the back surfaces may be distinct. That is, the back surfaces do not form a continuous surface. In this case the back surfaces may be separated by the step. The step may form a side face of the metal lead frame part. The side face of the step is preferably in exclusively direct contact with the first mold material.

[0032] According to at least one embodiment of the housing, the assembly surface is free of the first mold material. By the assembly surface being free of the first mold material a particularly large assembly surface formed by the metal lead frame part may be achieved. This may facilitate the assembly of the electric device and its electric contacting.

[0033] According to at least one embodiment of the housing, the second mold material comprises a different material than the first mold material. For example, the first and second mold material comprise a common matrix material and a mutually different filler or vice versa.

[0034] If, for example, the first and second mold material comprise the same or a similar matrix material, a particularly good adhesion between the first and second mold material may be achieved. In that case optical or mechanical properties of the first and second mold material may further be determined by the filler.

[0035] Alternatively, both the matrix material and the filler of the first and second mold material differ from each other.

[0036] It is further possible that the first and second mold material comprise the same material.

[0037] According to at least one embodiment of the housing, the lead frame part comprises an electrical contact region at the back surface opposite to the assembly surface. Preferably, the electrical contact region is free of the first and / or second mold material. By the electrical contact region, the housing and thus the electric device may be externally contacted.

[0038] Preferably, the lead frame part is formed with an electrically conductive material and electrically conductively connects the assembly surface and the electrical contact region. That is, the lead frame part electrically conductively connects the electric contact region with the electric device during operation.

[0039] In particular, the housing can be surface mounted by the electrical contact region, for example to a conductive carrier or a printed circuit board or the like.

[0040] According to at least one embodiment of the housing, the base layer comprises at least two metal lead frame parts, wherein a first metal lead frame part forms an anode and the second metal lead frame part forms a cathode for the electric device, in particular during operation. For example, the first lead frame part and the second lead frame part are at different electrical potentials during operation of the electric device. Preferably, the electric device is electrically conductively connected to both the first and the second lead frame part.

[0041] Preferably, each of the first and second lead frame part comprises an electrical contact region, by which an external current and / or voltage may be applied.

[0042] In particular, all features disclosed for the lead frame part above and in the following also disclosed for the first and second lead frame part and vice versa.

[0043] According to at least one embodiment in which the housing comprises at least two lead frame parts, the electric device is configured to be arranged on the first lead frame part and is configured to be connected to the second lead frame part via a bonding element. The bonding element is, for example, a bonding wire or a bonding line. In particular, the bonding element comprises or is made of an electrically conductive material, for example a metal such as copper, gold or the like. By using a bonding element, the electric device may be exclusively arranged on the first lead frame part.

[0044] Advantageously, this allows for a facilitated arrangement of the electric device and may increase dissipation of heat from the electric device.

[0045] According to at least one embodiment, the electric device is an optoelectronic semiconductor device comprising at least one micro-LED. The micro-LED is preferably configured to emit electromagnetic radiation.

[0046] As a broad definition, a micro-LED could be seen as any light-emitting diode (LED) -generally not a laser -with a particularly small size.

[0047] As a rule -and this is a very important criterion in addition to size -a growth substrate is removed from micro- LEDs, so that typical heights of such micro-LEDs are in the range of 1.5 μm to 10 μm, for example.

[0048] In principle, a micro-LED does not necessarily have to have a rectangular radiation emission surface. Generally, for example, an LED could have a radiation emission surface in which, in plan view of the layers of the layer sequence, any lateral extent of the radiation emission surface is less than or equal to 100 μm or less than or equal to 70 μm.

[0049] For example, in the case of rectangular micro-LEDs, an edge length -especially in plan view of the layers of the layer sequence -smaller than or equal to 70 μm or smaller than or equal to 50 μm -is often cited as a criterion.

[0050] Mostly, such micro-LEDs are provided on wafers with -non-destructively for the μLED -detachable holding structures.

[0051] At present, micro-LEDs are mainly used in displays. The micro-LEDs form pixels or subpixels and emit light of a defined color. Small pixel size and a high density with close distances make micro-LEDs suitable, among others, for small monolithic displays for AR applications, especially data glasses. In addition, other applications are being developed, in particular regarding the use in data communication or pixelated lighting applications.

[0052] Different ways of spelling micro-LED, e.g. μLED, μ-LED, uLED, u-LED or micro light-emitting diode can be found in the relevant literature.

[0053] Furthermore, a method for producing a housing is specified. In particular, the housing described herein is produced by  the method. That is, all features disclosed for the housing are also disclosed for the method and vice versa.

[0054] According to at least one embodiment of the method, the method comprises a step of providing a plurality of metal lead frame parts in a metal compound, wherein the lead frame parts are connected to each other by tie bars. In particular, the metal compound is a structured layer comprising a plurality of lead frame parts connected to each other by tie bars. The metal compound preferably comprises or is made of copper. In particular, there are intermediate spaces between the metal lead frame parts.

[0055] According to at least one embodiment of the method, the method comprises a step of forming a base layer by molding the metal compound with the first mold material. For example, the first mold material is exclusively arranged at side faces of the lead frame parts. That is, the molding with the first mold material is preferably a flat molding producing a flat base layer. In particular, the first mold material fills the intermediate spaces between the metal lead frame parts. For example, after this method step the base layer is a simply connected layer.

[0056] According to at least one embodiment of the method, the method comprises the steps of forming a plurality of through holes in the base layer such that at least a part of the tie bars is removed. The through holes are formed, for example, by drilling, by means of a laser, etching or any other process to cut the tie bar connection between the lead frame parts.

[0057] According to at least one embodiment of the method, the method comprises the steps of forming a housing compound by molding the base layer with the second mold material, wherein the second mold material fills the through holes. In particular, the housing compound is formed such that the housing compound comprises a plurality of recesses and that side surfaces of the housing compound, transverse to the base layer, are free of a material of the metal compound.

[0058] The method described herein is based on the idea of removing the tie bars connecting the metal lead frame parts in the metal compound after the base layer is formed in a first mold process, . In a subsequence second mold process, a mold body comprising the first and second mold material may be formed such that outer side surfaces of the housing and / or the housing compound are free of the tie bars. Advantageously, penetration of moisture and / or corrosion gas from the environment of the housing to the recess of the housing may be reduced or eradicated.

[0059] According to at least one embodiment of the method, the housing compound is separated into individual housings along separation lines. That is, by the method a plurality of housings described herein may be produced simultaneously. For example the passivation of the housing compound is carried out by sawing or by means of a laser or the like.

[0060] After the optional separation of the housing compound, electric devices are, for example, arranged in housings. In particular, exactly one electric device is arranged in one housing. Subsequently, it is possible that the casting is applied to the recess, which preferably hermetically seals the housing. Thereby, a package unit is produced, in  particular comprising a housing described herein and an electric device.

[0061] According to at least one embodiment of the method, , after separation of the housing compound, the housing preferably comprises exactly two metal lead frame parts. The metal lead frame parts are, for example, the first metal lead frame part and the second metal lead frame part, forming an anode and a cathode for the electric device, respectively.

[0062] According to at least one embodiment of the method, the base layer comprises a homogeneous thickness, which is essentially equal to a thickness of the metal compound. The thicknesses are, for example, the average thicknesses. Here and in the following, the thickness of a layer or an element is measured perpendicular to its main extension direction.

[0063] Preferably, the base layer is a flat layer with a homogeneous thickness. For example, the maximum deviation of the thickness of the base layer from its average is at most 10%or 5%of 1%of the average thickness of the base layer.

[0064] In particular, a first main surface and a second main surface of the metal compound, which are opposite to one another, are free of the first mold material. In this configuration, the thickness of the base layer is essentially determined by the thickness of the metal compound, and hence the thickness of the metal frame part.

[0065] According to at least one embodiment method, during the step of forming a base layer, the first mold material is exclusively applied to side faces of the metal compound. That is, the first main surface and the second main surface of the  metal compound, which are opposite to one another, are free of the first mold material.

[0066] Further advantages and advantageous embodiments and further developments of the housing and the method for producing a housing will become apparent from the following exemplary embodiments shown in connection with schematic drawings. Identical elements, elements of the same kind or elements having the same effect, are provided with the same reference signs in the figures. The figures and the proportions of the elements shown in the figures are not to be regarded as true to scale. Rather, individual elements may be shown exageratedly large for better representability and / or for better comprehensibility.

[0067] In the figures:

[0068] Figures 1 to 3 show a housing described herein according to an exemplary embodiment in different views;

[0069] Figures 4 to 7 show different stages in a method for producing a housing described herein according to an exemplary embodiment, each in a perspective view;

[0070] Figures 8 to 9 show a housing according to a comparative example in different views;

[0071] Figure 1 shows a housing 1 described herein according to an exemplary embodiment in a schematic sectional view. Figure 2 shows a schematic perspective view of the housing according to the exemplary embodiment.

[0072] The housing 1 comprises a mold body 2 formed with a first mold material 21 and a second mold material 22. The first mold material 21 and the second mold material 22 are each an epoxy molding compound, also abbreviated to “EMC.

[0073] The housing 1 further comprises two metal lead frame parts 4. The metal lead frame parts 4 are preferably formed with copper. An assembly surface 10 is formed at a first main side of the lead frame parts 4. An electric device 100 may be arranged at the assembly surface 10. In particular, the electric device 100 is attached to the assembly surface 10 by means of a solder layer 110. For example, the electric device 100 is an optoelectronic semiconductor device. The optoelectronic semiconductor device is in particular configured to emit electromagnetic radiation during operation.

[0074] A first metal lead frame part 44 forms an anode for the electric device 100 and a second metal lead frame part 45 forms a cathode for the electric device 100 (compare Figure 3) . The assembly surface 10 is in particular formed on the first metal lead frame part 44. That is, the electric device 100 is attached to the first metal lead frame part 44. The electric device 100 is electrically conductively connected to the first metal lead frame part 44 by the solder layer 110. An electrical contact region 46 is formed on a backside 42 of the first metal lead frame part 44. The first metal lead frame part 44, and consequently the electric device 100, may be externally supplied with current and / or voltage by the electrical contact region 46 during operation.

[0075] In a similar way, a backside 42 of the second metal lead frame part 45 comprises an electrical contact region 46. The electric device 100 is electrically conductively connected to  the second metal lead frame part 45 by a bonding structure 7 (compare Figure 2) . The bonding structure 7 comprises an electrically conductive material such as a metal, for example copper, and is formed, for example, by a bonding wire. Via the electrical contact region 46 of the second lead frame part 45 the electric device 100 may be further supplied with current and / or voltage during operation.

[0076] Together with the metal lead frame parts 4, the first mold material 21 forms a base layer 3 of the housing 1. In particular, the metal lead frame parts 44, 45 are mechanically stably connected by the first mold material 21. The first mold material 21 is on side faces 43 of the metal lead frame parts 4. In particular the assembly surface 10 is free of the first mold material.

[0077] The second mold material 22 is arranged at least at a part of the side faces 43. The base layer 3 comprises through holes 30 that penetrate the base layer 3 completely (also compare Figure 3) . The second mold material 22 is arranged in through holes 30. In particular, in the through holes 30 the second mold material 22 is in direct contact with the first mold material 21 and side faces 43 of the metal lead frame parts 4.

[0078] The housing 1 comprises a recess 5. Sidewalls 50 of the recess 5 are formed, in particular exclusively formed, by the second mold material 22. The sidewalls 50 extend transversal to the assembly surface 10. In the recess 5 the assembly surface 10 is visible and / or accessible. The recess 5 is filled with a casting 6. The casting 6 is transparent or translucent for radiation emitted by the electric device 100. The casting 6 is formed, for example, with an epoxy material,  a silicon and / or a polymer. By the casting 6 the housing 1 is hermetically sealed.

[0079] Outer side surfaces 11 of the housing 1 are free of a material of the metal lead frame parts 4. In particular, the metal lead frame parts 4 do not extend to the outer side surfaces 11. Thereby, an interface between the mold body 2 and the metal lead frame parts 4 does not form a penetration path for moisture and / or corrosion gas penetrating the housing 1 from an environment of the housing 1. The outside surfaces 11 are at least partially formed by the first mold material 21 (compare Figure 2) . However, a majority part of the outer side surfaces 11 is formed by the second mold material 22.

[0080] Figure 3 illustrates the base layer 3 of the housing 1 according to the exemplary embodiment of Figures 1 and 2, wherein the second mold material 22 is drawn semitransparent. The base layer 3 comprises through holes 30, in which the second one material 22 is arranged. As can be seen in Figure 3, the metal lead frame parts 4 do not extend through the side surfaces 11 of the housing 1.

[0081] In a first step of the method for producing a housing 1 according to Figures 4 to 7, a metal compound 40 is provided. The method compound 40 comprises a plurality of metal lead frame parts 4 that are connected by tie bars 41 (Figure 4) . The metal lead frame parts 4 each comprise a first metal lead frame part 44 and a second metal lead frame part 45. In particular, a material of the metal lead frame parts 4 is similar to the material of the metal lead frame parts 4 according to Figures 1 and 2. The metal compound 40 is not  formed as a continuous layer, but comprises intermediate spaces between the metal lead frame parts 4.

[0082] In a subsequent method step the metal compound 40 is molded by the first mold material 21 (Figure 5) . Thereby, a base layer 3 is produced. The first mold material 21 is arranged in the intermediate spaces between the metal lead frame parts 4. That is, only the side faces 43 of the metal lead frame parts 4 are in contact with the first mold material 21. In particular, the base layer 3 comprises a homogeneous and uniform thickness that is essentially determined by a thickness of the metal lead frame parts 4, i.e. the metal compound 40. A material of the first mold material 21 is preferably an EMC.

[0083] In a subsequent method step through holes 30 are formed in the base layer 3 (Figure 6) . For example, the through holes 30 are formed by drilling or by means of a laser. The through holes 30 penetrate the base layer 3 completely.

[0084] The through holes 30 are formed in regions of the tie bars 41. That is, the tie bars 41 are removed by the formation of through holes 30. Consequently, the metal lead frame parts 4 are only connected to one another by the second mold material 21.

[0085] In a subsequent method step a housing compound 12 is formed by molding the base layer 3 of Figure 6 with a second mold material 22 (Figure 7) . The second mold material 22 is preferably an EMC. The first mold material 21 and the second mold material 22 form a mold body 2. The housing compound 12 is formed such that it comprises a plurality of housings 1, which each comprise a recess 5. A structure, a functionality  and an effect of the housings 1 of the housing compound 12 are similar or identical to those of the housing 1 according to Figures 1 to 3.

[0086] Optionally, the housing compound 12 may be separated into a plurality of individual housings 1 (compare Figure 7) . Separation is carried out, for example, by sawing. The separation of the housing compound 12 is performed along separation lines 8. After separation, each housing 1 comprises exactly one recess 5 and one first metal lead frame part 44 and one second lead frame part 45.

[0087] Figure 8 shows a comparative example 9 of a housing in a schematic sectional view. Figure 9 shows the comparative example 9 in a perspective view. In contrast to the exemplary embodiment of the housing 1 according to Figures 1 and 2, in the comparative example 9 the metal lead frame parts 4 extend to the outer side surface 11. That is, in view of the outer side surface 11, side faces 43 of the metal lead frame parts 4 are visible. In particular, the surface 11 is partially formed by the metal lead frame part 4.

[0088] A part of the metal lead frame part 4, which extends to the outer side surface 11, are tie bars 41 of a metal compound 40 comprising a plurality of metal lead frame parts 4 used during production of the comparative example 9. In particular during production of the comparative example 9 the tie bars 41 have not been removed, as is the case in the methods described herein.

[0089] Further, in contrast to the housing 1 of Figures 1 and 2, the mold body 2 of the comparative example 9 comprises only one mold material. As can be seen in Figure 8, an interface  between the metal lead frame part 4 and the mold body 2 is present in the region of the side surface 11. This interface forms a penetration path 90 for moisture and / or corrosion gas penetrating the mold body 2 and entering the recess 5 of the housing 1. This moisture and / or corrosion gas may harm and / or alter the electric device and thus limit its lifespan.

[0090] In the housing 1 described herein, for example in connection with the exemplary embodiment of Figures 1 to 3, this penetration path is closed such that a more sealed housing 1 can be achieved.

[0091] The invention is not restricted to the exemplary embodiments of the description on the basis of said exemplary embodiments. Rather, the invention encompasses any new feature and also any combination of features which in particular comprises any combination of features in the patent claims and any combination of features in the exemplary embodiments, even if this feature or this combination itself is not explicitly specified in the patent claims or exemplary embodiments.
