Intake manifold, engine and vehicle
[0001] CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS
[0002] This application claims priority to Chinese patent application No. 202310947130.5 filed by BYD Co., Ltd. on July 28, 2023, entitled “Intake Manifold, Engine and Vehicle,” the entire contents of which are incorporated herein by reference. Technical Field
[0003] The present disclosure relates to the field of vehicle technology, and in particular to an intake manifold, an engine, and a vehicle. Background Art
[0004] The Atkinson cycle engine achieves this by closing the intake valve late. Specifically, the intake valve remains open for a period of time at the beginning of the compression stroke, allowing a portion of the air-fuel mixture drawn into the cylinder to be expelled. This results in an expansion ratio greater than the compression ratio, thereby improving the engine's thermal efficiency. In related art, during engine operation, the flow of intake air in the intake manifold causes the air-fuel mixture in some cylinders to be drawn into other cylinders. This results in uneven distribution of the air-fuel mixture across the cylinders, causing inconsistent combustion across the engine cylinders and reducing the engine's thermal efficiency.

[0042] The following describes an embodiment of the present disclosure in detail. The embodiments described with reference to the accompanying drawings are exemplary. The following describes an intake manifold 100 according to an embodiment of the present disclosure with reference to Figures 1 to 10. In the following description of the present application, the intake manifold 100 is described as being used in an Atkinson cycle engine, but is not limited thereto.
[0043] As shown in Figures 1, 2 and 6, an intake manifold 100 according to an embodiment of the first aspect of the present disclosure includes a cavity 1, a plurality of fluid branches 2 and a fluid manifold 3. In the description of the present disclosure, "plurality" means two or more.
[0044] Specifically, the cavity 1 has an air inlet end 13. A guide portion 11 is formed on the cavity 1, and the guide portion 11 is located on one side of the cavity 1 along the first direction (for example, the up and down direction shown in Figure 1), and multiple fluid branches 2 are connected to the other side of the cavity 1 along the first direction, and the multiple fluid branches 2 are all connected to the cavity 1. Among them, the cavity 1 is a structure with a cavity, and the cavity is also a pressure-stabilizing cavity. For example, in the examples of Figures 1 to 4, the cavity 1 extends in the left and right directions, and the air inlet end 13 is located at the right end of the cavity 1. The guide portion 11 is located on the upper side of the cavity 1 along the first direction, and the upper ends of the multiple fluid branches 2 are all connected to the lower side of the cavity 1 along the first direction. In the example of Figure 6, the guide portion 11 is located on the rear side of the cavity 1, and the upper ends of the multiple fluid branches 2 are all connected to the lower side of the cavity 1 along the first direction. As a result, it is conducive to the flow of fluid between the inside of the cavity 1 and the fluid branches 2, thereby improving the smoothness of the fluid flow. It should be noted that the number and arrangement of the fluid branches 2 can be specifically set according to actual conditions to better meet practical applications.
[0045] Referring to Figures 1-4 , the flow guide 11 is opposite at least one of the multiple fluid branches 2 adjacent to the inlet end 13. Chamber 1 forms a vortex region 12 between the flow guide 11 and the at least one of the multiple fluid branches 2 adjacent to the inlet end 13. Vortex region 12 is adapted to cause fluid entering from the inlet end 13 to form a vortex in vortex region 12 (for example, the fluid flow path in vortex region 12 is indicated by arrow C in Figure 3 ).
[0046] For example, in the examples of Figures 1 to 4, the fluid can be connected to the cavity 1 through the intake end 13. The flow path of the fluid flowing into the intake manifold 100 from the intake end 13 in the intake manifold 100 is roughly as follows: the fluid enters the cavity 1 along the intake end 13 and flows to the guide portion 11. Then, the fluid flows along the multiple fluid branches 2 into the cylinders (not shown) of the engine 200 corresponding to the multiple fluid branches 2. During this process, the fluid flowing into the cavity 1 from the intake end 13 changes its flow direction after contacting the inner wall surface of the guide portion 11, and a low-flow vortex area 12 is formed above the fluid branch 2 near the intake end 13, and then flows into the multiple fluid branches 2. Since the pressure in the vortex area 12 is greater than the pressure in the surrounding flow area, the oil-gas mixture flowing back into the fluid branch pipe 2 in the cylinder of the engine 200 is prevented from flowing into the cavity 1, and the oil-gas mixture flowing back in the fluid branch pipe 2 adjacent to the intake end 13 is prevented from flowing into other fluid branches 2, resulting in large differences in the concentration of the mixed gas flowing from each fluid branch pipe 2 into each cylinder.
[0047] It should be noted that engine 200 can also be an Atkinson engine, a port injection (FPI) premixed engine, a Miller cycle supercharged engine, etc. Therefore, this design utilizes fluid mechanics principles to provide a flow guide 11, ensuring that the fluid and oil-gas mixture flowing in from the intake end 13 are evenly distributed within each fluid branch 2. This ensures consistent combustion across the multiple cylinders in engine 200 and improves the operational stability of engine 200. Furthermore, the simple structure of intake manifold 100 neither increases the complexity nor the cycle time required for prototype machining of intake manifold 100, thereby increasing the production rate of intake manifold 100.
[0048] According to the intake manifold 100 of the disclosed embodiment, the fluid flowing in from the intake end 13 can form a vortex at the guide portion 11, thereby preventing the oil-air mixture in the fluid branch 2 adjacent to the intake end 13 from flowing into other fluid branch 2 when the fluid branch 2 away from the intake end 13 is inhaled. This ensures uniform distribution of the fluid flowing in from the intake end 13 and the oil-air mixture within each fluid branch 2, thereby ensuring consistent combustion across multiple cylinders in the engine 200 and improving the operational stability of the engine 200. Furthermore, the intake manifold 100 has a simple structure, which reduces the production cost of the intake manifold 100 and increases the production rate of the intake manifold 100.
[0049] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, referring to Figures 2, 3, 7, and 8, the intake manifold 100 further includes a fluid manifold 3. One end of the fluid manifold 3 is connected to the intake port 13. The angle α between a tangent line passing through the fluid manifold 3 on the side adjacent to the flow guide 11 and a tangent line passing through the flow guide 11 on the side away from the longitudinal central axis of the cavity 1 is α, where α satisfies the following conditions: 5°≤α≤80°.
[0050] For example, in the examples of Figures 2 and 3, the fluid manifold 3 is connected to the air inlet end 13. The interior of the fluid manifold 3 is connected to the interior of the cavity 1 through the air inlet end 13, and the fluid manifold 3 and the cavity 1 are an integrally formed part. Thus, the fluid inside the fluid manifold 3 can flow into the cavity 1 through the air inlet end 13. The angle between the tangent line passing through the right side of the fluid manifold 3 and the tangent line passing through the upper side of the guide portion 11 is α (or, for example, in the example of Figure 6, when the guide portion 11 is located on the rear side of the cavity 1. The angle between the tangent line passing through the right side of the fluid manifold 3 and the tangent line passing through the rear side of the guide portion 11 is α).
[0051] When the angle α between the tangent line of the fluid manifold 3 on the side adjacent to the flow guide 11 and the tangent line of the flow guide 11 on the side away from the longitudinal central axis of the cavity 1 is less than 5°, after the fluid enters the cavity 1 along the fluid manifold 3 through the air inlet end 13, the impact force between the fluid and the inner wall of the flow guide 11 is weakened, making it difficult for the fluid to form a vortex in the vortex area 12. As a result, the vortex in the vortex area 12 is reduced, and the pressure difference between the vortex area 12 and the surrounding fluid is small. Consequently, the oil-gas mixture in the fluid branch 2 near the fluid manifold 3 easily flows into the cavity 1, allowing the oil-gas mixture to enter the fluid branch 2 away from the fluid manifold 3, resulting in poor fuel consumption of the engine 200. When the angle α between the tangent of the fluid main pipe 3 on the side adjacent to the guide portion 11 and the tangent of the guide portion 11 on the side away from the central axis of the length direction of the cavity 1 is greater than 80°, the angle between the fluid flowing into the fluid main pipe 3 and the tangent of the guide portion 11 on the side away from the central axis of the length direction of the cavity 1 is too large, which is not conducive to the fluid flowing smoothly to the vortex area 12, nor is it conducive to the fluid flowing smoothly into each fluid branch pipe 2.
[0052] Thus, by ensuring that the angle α between the tangent line passing through the fluid main pipe 3 on the side adjacent to the flow guide portion 11 and the tangent line passing through the flow guide portion 11 on the side distal from the longitudinal central axis of the cavity 1 satisfies 5°≤α≤80°, the smoothness of the flow of fluid from the fluid main pipe 3 into the fluid branch pipe 2 distal from the fluid main pipe 3 is improved. Furthermore, this facilitates the formation of vortices in the vortex region 12 by the fluid flowing from the fluid main pipe 3, thereby effectively preventing the oil-gas mixture in the fluid branch pipe 2 proximal to the fluid main pipe 3 from being drawn away by the fluid branch pipe 2 distal from the fluid main pipe 3 during intake, thereby improving combustion consistency across multiple cylinders in the engine 200.
[0053] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, multiple fluid branches 2 are arranged along the length of the cavity 1. An angle β is formed between a tangent line passing through the fluid main pipe 3 and a side of the fluid branch 2 closest to the fluid main pipe 3 among the multiple fluid branches 2 and the central axis of the fluid branch 2 closest to the fluid main pipe 3, where β satisfies the following: 5°≤β≤80°.
[0054] For example, in the examples of Figures 2 and 3 , multiple fluid branches 2 are connected to the bottom side of the cavity 1 and are arranged sequentially in the left-right direction. When the flow guide 11 is located on the top side of the cavity 1 , the angle between the tangent line of the left side wall of the fluid main pipe 3 and the central axis of the rightmost fluid branch 2 is β (or, for example, in the example of Figure 8 , when the flow guide 11 is located on the back side of the cavity 1 , the angle between the tangent line of the left side wall of the fluid main pipe 3 and the central axis of the rightmost fluid branch 2 is β).
[0055] When the angle β between the tangent of one side of the fluid branch 2 closest to the fluid main pipe 3 among the multiple fluid branches 2 adjacent to the fluid main pipe 3 and the central axis of the fluid branch 2 closest to the fluid main pipe 3 among the multiple fluid branches 2 is less than 5°, the fluid entering the cavity 1 from the fluid main pipe 3 through the air inlet end 13 is roughly perpendicular to the upper wall surface of the guide portion 11, which is not conducive to the formation of vortexes in the vortex area 12 and the smooth flow of the fluid into each fluid branch 2.
[0056] When the angle β between a tangent line passing through the fluid main pipe 3 and the central axis of the fluid branch 2 closest to the fluid main pipe 3 is greater than 80°, the flow direction of the fluid flowing from the fluid main pipe 3 is approximately aligned with the central axis of the cavity 1. This weakens the impact force of the fluid flowing from the fluid main pipe 3 on the inner wall of the flow guide 11 after entering the cavity 1 through the intake port 13, thereby reducing the vortex in the vortex zone 12 and minimizing the pressure difference between the vortex zone 12 and the surrounding fluid. Consequently, the oil-gas mixture in the fluid branch 2 near the fluid main pipe 3 easily flows into the cavity 1, which can easily lead to inconsistent combustion among the cylinders of the engine 200 and worsen the fuel consumption of the engine 200. On the other hand, the fluid flowing in from the fluid main pipe 3 tends to flow to the inlet of the fluid branch pipe 2 closest to the fluid main pipe 3 among the multiple fluid branch pipes 2, thereby reducing the uniformity of fluid distribution in each fluid branch pipe 2.
[0057] Thus, by ensuring that the angle β between a tangent line on one side of the fluid branch 2 closest to the fluid main pipe 3 and the central axis of the fluid branch 2 closest to the fluid main pipe 3 satisfies 5°≤β≤80°, the smoothness of fluid flow into the fluid branch 2 farther from the fluid main pipe 3 is improved. Furthermore, this facilitates the formation of vortices in the vortex region 12, thereby further improving the uniformity of the fluid and oil-gas mixture within each branch 2 and the combustion consistency of the multiple cylinders in the engine 200.
[0058] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, referring to Figures 1-3 , the flow guide 11 is directly opposite at least one of the multiple fluid branches 2 adjacent to the fluid main pipe 3. For example, in the example of Figure 2 , the flow guide 11 is located above the cavity 1 and directly opposite at least one of the multiple fluid branches 2 adjacent to the fluid main pipe 3. This facilitates the formation of a vortex region 12 between the flow guide 11 and at least one of the fluid branches 2 adjacent to the fluid main pipe 3. Fluid flowing in from the fluid main pipe 3 changes direction upon contact with the inner wall of the flow guide 11, forming a vertically rotating vortex. The fluid pressure in the vortex region 12 is greater than the fluid pressure in the fluid branch 2 directly opposite the flow guide 11, thereby more effectively preventing the extraction of the oil-gas mixture in the fluid branch 2 directly opposite the flow guide 11. This prevents the mixed gas concentration in the fluid branch 2 adjacent to the fluid main pipe 3 from being too low, while the mixed gas concentration in the fluid branch 2 farther from the fluid main pipe 3 is too high, effectively reducing the impact of uneven oil-gas mixing on the operation of the engine 200. In addition, while ensuring uniform mixing of oil and gas in each fluid branch pipe 2, only the volume of the cavity 1 at the end close to the fluid main pipe 3 is larger, and the volume of the cavity 1 at the end away from the fluid main pipe 3 remains unchanged, so that the overall volume of the intake manifold 100 is moderate, which is beneficial to the use and installation of the intake manifold 100.
[0059] According to other embodiments of the present disclosure, with reference to Figures 6 to 8, the guide portion 11 is provided on a side of the cavity 1 away from the fluid main pipe 3 along a second direction (e.g., the front-to-back direction in Figure 6), and the second direction is perpendicular to the first direction. For example, in the example of Figure 6, the guide portion 11 is located on the rear side of the cavity 1, the fluid main pipe 3 is opposite to the guide portion 11, and the fluid main pipe 3 extends to the guide portion at an angle in a direction substantially perpendicular to the plane in which the up-down direction and the left-right direction are located, so as to facilitate the fluid to flow smoothly to the guide portion 11. Thus, when the fluid flowing in from the fluid main pipe 3 flows into the cavity 1, the fluid forms a vortex after contacting the rear wall surface of the guide portion 11 in the cavity 1, which facilitates the formation of a rotating vortex zone 12 in the front-to-back direction at the guide portion 11, thereby improving the combustion consistency of the multiple cylinders in the engine 200. In addition, the structure of the intake manifold 100 is enriched, and the setting position of the guide portion 11 can be selected according to the installation position of the intake manifold 100, so as to facilitate the installation of the intake manifold 100 at different positions and be more conducive to the use of the intake manifold 100.
[0060] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, referring to Figures 1, 5, 6 and 10, the guide portion 11 is formed by the inner wall surface of the cavity 1 protruding in a direction away from the central axis of the cavity 1. For example, in the examples of Figures 1 and 5, the guide portion 11 is in the shape of a bulge protruding upward from the inner wall surface of the cavity 1. In the examples of Figures 6 and 10, the guide portion 11 is in the shape of a bulge protruding backward from the inner wall surface of the cavity 1. Such an arrangement, on the one hand, is conducive to the formation of a vortex zone 12 after the fluid enters the cavity 1 along the fluid main pipe 3 through the air inlet end 13 and collides with the inner wall of the guide portion 11, thereby preventing the fluid in the fluid branch pipe 2 adjacent to the fluid main pipe 3 from being exhausted when the fluid branch pipe 2 away from the fluid main pipe 3 is inhaled. On the other hand, the structure of the guide portion 11 is simple and does not require other unnecessary components, which is conducive to the formation of the guide portion 11.
[0061] Optionally, the inner wall surface of the guide portion 11 is composed of one or more curved surfaces. That is to say, the inner wall surface of the guide portion 11 can be an integral curved surface, or formed by multiple curved surfaces connected in sequence. In this way, when the inner wall surface of the guide portion 11 is composed of one curved surface, the structure of the guide portion 11 is simple and easy to produce, thereby improving the production rate of the guide portion 11. When the inner wall surface of the guide portion 11 is composed of multiple curved surfaces, the guide portion 11 can be set to a variety of shapes and sizes, so that the guide portion 11 can be set to the shape and size of the guide portion 11 according to actual conditions, thereby improving the adaptability of the guide portion 11.
[0062] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, with reference to Figures 2, 3, and 7, the height of the guide portion 11 in the first direction is 1 / 8 to 1 / 2 of the height of the cavity 1 in the first direction. For example, in the examples of Figures 2 and 7, the distance between the highest point of the guide portion 11 (e.g., the position of the solid circle G in Figure 3) and the lowest point of the guide portion 11 (e.g., the position of the solid circle D in Figure 2) is 1 / 8 to 1 / 2 of the height of the stable cavity in the vertical direction (inclusive of the endpoints).
[0063] When the height of the guide portion 11 in the first direction is less than 1 / 8 of the height of the cavity 1 in the first direction, the generated vortex is small, making it easy for the oil-air mixture in the fluid branch pipe 2 adjacent to the fluid main pipe 3 to be drawn away by the fluid branch pipe 2 farther away from the fluid main pipe 3 during intake. This causes the oil-air mixture in the multiple fluid branch pipes 2 in the intake manifold 100 of the engine 200 to interfere with each other, resulting in inconsistent combustion among the multiple cylinders in the engine 200. When the height of the guide portion 11 in the first direction is greater than the height of the cavity 1 in the first direction, the volume of the guide portion 11 is larger, resulting in a larger overall structure of the intake manifold 100, which is not conducive to the installation and testing of the intake manifold 100 and is not convenient for the spatial layout of the engine 200.
[0064] Thus, by setting the height of the guide portion 11 in the first direction to be 1 / 8 to 1 / 2 of the height of the cavity 1 in the first direction, the fluid can be uniformly distributed into the multiple fluid branches 2 and the oil-gas mixture in the fluid branches 2 adjacent to the fluid main pipe 3 can be prevented from being drawn away by the fluid branches 2 away from the fluid main pipe 3 during intake. This prevents the fluids in the multiple fluid branches 2 in the intake manifold 100 of the engine 200 from interfering with each other, thereby ensuring consistent combustion among the multiple cylinders in the engine 200 and improving the operational stability of the engine 200. Furthermore, the volume of the cavity 1 is minimized, facilitating the installation and layout of the intake manifold 100, and thus facilitating the layout of the various components of the engine 200. This also makes the overall structure of the engine 200 more compact, facilitating its installation and use. It should be noted that when the guide portion 11 is located on the side of the cavity 1 in the second direction away from the fluid main pipe 3, the height of the guide portion 11 in the front-to-back direction is 1 / 8 to 1 (including the endpoint values) of the height of the cavity 1 in the second direction, so as to facilitate the installation and arrangement of the intake manifold 100, thereby making the overall structure of the engine 200 more compact, which is conducive to the installation and use of the engine 200.
[0065] 2 and 7 , multiple fluid branches are arranged along the length of the cavity 1. The multiple fluid branches 2 include a first fluid branch 21, a second fluid branch 22, a third fluid branch 23, and a fourth fluid branch 24, which are arranged in sequence in a direction away from the fluid main pipe 3. The flow guide 11 is opposite to the first fluid branch 21 and the second fluid branch 22.
[0066] For example, in the examples shown in Figures 2 and 7 , the multiple fluid branches 2 are, from right to left, the first fluid branch 21, the second fluid branch 22, the third fluid branch 23, and the fourth fluid branch 24. With this arrangement, the fluid flowing into the fluid main pipe 3 can form vortices above the inlets of the first and second fluid branches 21, 22, preventing the oil-air mixture in the first and second fluid branches 21, 22 from flowing back into the chamber 1. This prevents the oil-air mixture in the first and second fluid branches 21, 22 from being drawn away when the third and fourth fluid branches 23, 24 take in air. This results in more uniform distribution of fluid and the oil-air mixture in the first, second, third, and fourth fluid branches 21, 22, 23, and 24, ensuring more consistent combustion in each cylinder corresponding to the first, second, third, and fourth fluid branches 21, 22, 23, and 24, thereby improving the reliability of the engine 200.
[0067] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, referring to FIG2 , the point of the flow guide 11 that is farthest from the central axis of the cavity 1 is located between the first fluid branch 21 and the second fluid branch 22. This arrangement facilitates the formation of a vortex above the inlets of the first fluid branch 21 and the second fluid branch 22, so that the pressure in the vortex region 12 is greater than the fluid pressure within the first fluid branch 21 and the fluid pressure within the second fluid branch 22, thereby facilitating a more uniform distribution of the fluid and oil-gas mixture within the first fluid branch 21, the second fluid branch 22, the third fluid branch 23, and the fourth fluid branch 24.
[0068] According to other embodiments of the present disclosure, the point of the flow guide 11 that is farthest from the central axis of the cavity 1 is opposite to the first fluid branch 21. Since the first fluid branch 21 is closer to the fluid main pipe 3 than the other fluid branches 2, if the oil-gas mixture in the first fluid branch 21 flows back into the cavity 1, the oil-gas mixture will flow into the other fluid branches 2 along with the fluid in the cavity 1. Therefore, by setting the point of the flow guide 11 that is farthest from the central axis of the cavity 1 opposite to the first fluid branch 21, it is beneficial to form a vortex above the inlet of the first fluid branch 21, thereby enhancing the effect of the vortex formed in the vortex zone 12 on the oil-gas mixture in the first fluid branch 21, and making it more difficult for the oil-gas mixture in the first fluid branch 21 to flow into the cavity 1. Moreover, it helps to reduce the length of the flow guide 11 on the cavity 1, thereby reducing the volume of the intake manifold 100 and further facilitating the installation of the intake manifold 100.
[0069] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, referring to FIG. 2 , the end of the flow guide 11 distal from the fluid manifold 3 (as indicated by the solid circle D in FIG. 2 ) is located between the second fluid branch 22 and the third fluid branch 23. This arrangement facilitates the formation of a vortex above the inlets of the first and second fluid branches 21, 22, eliminating the need to form a vortex zone 12 at locations within the cavity 1 opposite the third and fourth fluid branches 23, 24. This effectively prevents the extraction of the oil-air mixture in the first and second fluid branches 21, 22 when the fluid enters the cavity 1 from the fluid manifold 3 and flows into the third and fourth fluid branches 23, 24. Backflow of the oil-air mixture in the third and fourth fluid branches 23, 24 is also prevented, thereby ensuring a uniform concentration of the mixed gas in each fluid branch 2, thereby improving combustion consistency across multiple cylinders in the engine 200. In addition, the volume of the cavity 1 corresponding to the third fluid branch 23 and the fourth fluid branch 24 can be reduced, thereby reducing the interference between the cavity 1 and other components when the intake manifold 100 is installed, which is more conducive to the installation and use of the intake manifold 100.
[0070] According to other embodiments of the present disclosure, referring to FIG9 , the end of the air guide portion 11 that is distal to the fluid manifold 3 (e.g., the location of the solid circle F in FIG9 ) is opposite the second fluid branch 22. This arrangement helps reduce the length of the air guide portion 11 along the length of the cavity 1. In other words, the left-right dimension of the air guide portion 11 can be reduced, thereby reducing the volume of the intake manifold 100. This, in turn, makes the arrangement of the various components of the engine 200 more compact, facilitating installation of the intake manifold 100 in locations with limited space. It also reduces the material consumption of the intake manifold 100, thereby lowering the cost of using the intake manifold 100.
[0071] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, referring to Figures 2 and 3, the connection between the side wall of the first fluid branch 21 adjacent to the fluid main pipe 3 and the cavity 1 (for example, the position of the solid circle H as shown in Figure 3) is located on the side of the connection between the side wall of the first fluid branch 21 away from the fluid main pipe 3 and the cavity 1 (for example, the position of the solid circle I as shown in Figure 3) close to the central axis of the cavity 1.
[0072] For example, in the examples of Figures 2 and 3 , the connection between the right side wall of the first fluid branch 21 and the cavity 1 is located above the connection between the left side wall of the first fluid branch 21 and the cavity 1. This arrangement creates a certain angle between the flow direction of the fluid flowing from the fluid main pipe 3 into the cavity 1 and the central axis of the first fluid branch 21. This ensures that after the fluid enters the cavity 1 along the fluid main pipe 3, it flows obliquely upward, thus preventing the fluid from directly entering the first fluid branch 21. Instead, it drives the oil-gas mixture in the first fluid branch 21 to flow into the other fluid branches 2, thereby preventing uneven distribution of the oil-gas mixture in each fluid branch 2.
[0073] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, referring to Figures 2, 3, 7, and 8, the distance in the first direction between the connection point of the side wall of the first fluid branch 21 adjacent to the fluid main pipe 3 and the cavity 1 and the connection point of the side wall of the first fluid branch 21 away from the fluid main pipe 3 and the cavity 1 is L, where L satisfies the following: 1 mm ≤ L ≤ 50 mm. For example, in the example of Figure 3, the distance in the first direction between the connection point of the right side wall of the first fluid branch 21 and the cavity 1 and the connection point of the left side wall of the first fluid branch 21 and the cavity 1 is L.
[0074] When the distance L in the first direction between the connection point between the side wall of the first fluid branch 21 adjacent to the fluid main pipe 3 and the cavity 1 and the connection point between the side wall of the first fluid branch 21 away from the fluid main pipe 3 and the cavity 1 is less than 1 mm, the right side wall of the first fluid branch 21 and the left side wall of the first fluid branch 21 are roughly on the same horizontal line in the left-right direction, and the fluid is not easy to form vortexes. At the same time, the fluid is easy to directly mix with the oil-gas mixture in the first fluid branch 21, and it is easy to drive the oil-gas mixture in the first fluid branch 21 to flow into other fluid branches 2, thereby resulting in inconsistent concentrations of the mixed gases in each fluid branch 2, thereby reducing the combustion consistency of each cylinder of the engine 200 and affecting the use of the engine 200.
[0075] When the distance L in the first direction between the connection point between the side wall of the first fluid branch 21 adjacent to the fluid manifold 3 and the cavity 1 and the connection point between the side wall of the first fluid branch 21 distal to the fluid manifold 3 and the cavity 1 is greater than 50 mm, the length of the first fluid branch 21 increases along the first direction, increasing the size of the intake manifold 100. However, due to the limited space in the engine 200, this makes it difficult to arrange the engine 200. Furthermore, the distance between the right side wall of the first fluid branch 21 and the left side wall of the first fluid branch 21 increases, reducing the volume of the vortex region 12 and hindering the flow of fluid flowing from the fluid manifold 3.
[0076] Thus, by ensuring that the distance L in the first direction between the connection between the side wall of the first fluid branch 21 adjacent to the fluid manifold 3 and the cavity 1 and the connection between the side wall of the first fluid branch 21 distal to the fluid manifold 3 and the cavity 1 satisfies 1mm≤L≤50mm, this helps prevent fluid from interfering with each other's suction between the multiple cylinders in the engine 200, thereby improving uniformity and combustion stability among the multiple cylinders in the engine 200. Furthermore, the first intake branch 21 is prevented from being excessively long, which would hinder the installation of the intake manifold 100. That is, through the design of the guide portion 11, the present application simultaneously ensures uniformity of gas and oil within each intake branch 2 of the intake manifold 100 within a limited layout space. Furthermore, the intake manifold 100 has no low points, preventing condensation and ice formation.
[0077] The proposed Atkinson cycle engine intake manifold 100 with a guide portion 11 was prototyped and tested. The test results demonstrated excellent combustion consistency across the cylinders of the engine 200, demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed guide portion 11 in resolving the interference issue between the cylinders of the intake manifold 100 in the Atkinson cycle engine. Furthermore, the design of the guide portion 11 is simple, without increasing the complexity, cycle time, or cost of prototype manufacturing of the intake manifold 100. Furthermore, the guide portion 11 minimizes the volume and length of the intake manifold 100, making it suitable for compact engine 200 layouts and enabling flexible deployment.
[0078] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, at least one deflector (not shown) is provided on the inner wall of cavity 1. For example, when the oil-air mixture in fluid branch 2 flows back into cavity 1, the deflector acts to reflow back into the corresponding fluid branch 2, thereby preventing mixing of the oil-air mixtures in each fluid branch 2 and improving combustion consistency across cylinders of engine 200. Furthermore, after the fluid enters cavity 1 along fluid main 3, it flows along the deflector into fluid branches 2 away from fluid main 3, improving the uniformity of fluid distribution within each fluid branch 2.
