Abstract
Description
[0001] ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE FOR ARMOURED TRACKED MILITARY VEHICLES TECHNICAL FIELD
[0002] The invention relates to an electronic parking brake that allows collective use of service and parking brake by creating a new parking brake line apart from the service brake line.
[0003] The invention particularly relates to an electronic parking brake; that is pulled by pressing the brake pedal, that is pulled by at least one service brake wire and linear actuator that actuates the service brake via the brake assembly by rotating the actuator, that moves the guide after being pulled, and that comprises a parking brake wire which actuates the parking brake via the brake assembly by rotating the actuator connected to the guide.
[0004] KNOWN STATUS OF ART
[0005] In armoured vehicles, braking operation is ensured with the service brake by pressing the brake pedal; while the parking brake is used to stop the parked vehicle. For actuating the multi-disk wet-type brakes in today's tracked vehicles, it is necessary to rotate the actuator on the vehicles. Service brake and parking brake are actuated through the same brake assembly. Brake pedal is connected to the relevant brakes by means of the kinematic mechanisms used in the vehicle. With the pedal movement, kinematic mechanisms are driven, brake actuator is rotated, and thus braking of vehicle takes place. This system is also called service brake system. When it is desired to immobilize the vehicle, the actuator on the relevant brakes are rotated at certain levels, and locked at that point. In the present application, the service brake kinematic mechanism provides parking brake operation by locking at a certain level. This way, the parking brake is actuated and the vehicle is immobilized. In this technique, the parking brake and service brake are actuated via the same mechanism. For increased system reliability, the mechanisms of these systems should be separated as much as possible. Separation of brake lines will increase the reliability of the brake system.
[0006] In this technique, the parking brake actuation operation is not sufficiently ergonomic. For actuation of the system, a high amount of force should be applied via the hand brake lever. There is limited space in the driver cabin, and the hand brake lever occupies too much space.
[0007] Consequently, the demand for a new, cost-effective, comfortable, and practical electronic parking brake system has arisen to solve the challenges posed by current technology and the limitations of existing solutions.
[0008] PURPOSE OF THE INVENTION
[0009] The invention relates to an electronic parking brake that is developed to eliminate the aforementioned disadvantages and provide the relevant technical field with additional advantages, and that allows collective use of service and parking brakes by creating a new parking brake line apart from the service brake line.
[0010] The most important purpose of this invention is to increase the reliability of the brake system by separating the service and parking brake lines. In case of a single error, the invention will reduce the possibility of problems.
[0011] Another important purpose of the present invention is providing additional space in the driver cabin by removing the parking brake lever. Removal of parking brake lever, and addition of parking brake lever key instead, will remarkably reduce the effort required for applying the parking brake. Reducing the effort required for applying the parking brake and removing the parking brake lever from the driver cabin will provide a more ergonomic design.
[0012] The following figures and their detailed descriptions will make the invention's structural and characteristic features and its advantages easier to understand. Therefore, the assessment should be made by considering the images and their detailed descriptions.

[0026] DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION This detailed description describes the preferred configurations of the electronic parking brake only for a better understanding of the subject matter and no limitations should be construed.
[0027] Figure 1- 2 shows the electronic parking brake subject to the invention and its details. In this invention, when the brake pedal is pressed, the service brake wire (30) is pulled, the actuator (70) is rotated, actuating the service brake via the brake assembly (40). During this operation, the pin (71) of the actuator (70) moves in the housing (61) of the guide (60). In this condition, the parking brake is deactivated. The guide (60) is stationary in the present direction with the tension provided by the spring (50) and the parking brake wire (20). When the service brake wire (30) is released, the pin (71) of the actuator (70) moves in the housing (61) of the guide (60), releasing the brake assembly (40). When it is desired to actuate the parking brake, the linear actuator (10), preferably operating electronically, activates, pulls the parking brake wire (20), ensuring the movement of the guide (60). While moving, the guide (60) rotates the actuator (70), actuating the brake assembly (40). During this operation, with the movement of the guide (60), the pin in the housing (61) also moves, which allows rotation of the actuator (70). With the movement of the guide (60), the spring (50) is compressed, and the system is maintained in a stable position. When it is desired to deactivate the parking brake, the linear actuator (10) slackens the parking brake wire (20), and with the tension of the spring (50), the guide (60) return to its previous position. This way, the actuator (70) returns to its previous position, and the parking brake is deactivated.
[0028] In this invention, pneumatic or hydraulic systems can also be used instead of linear actuator (10). The scope of protection for this application is defined by the claims and is not restricted to the illustrative description provided above. It is evident that a skilled person in the field can establish the novelty of the invention by employing similar embodiments. Furthermore, this embodiment can be applied to other fields with similar purposes within the relevant art. It is therefore obvious that such structures will lack the criterion of innovation and particularly the criterion of exceeding the prior art.
