Description

Anode-less lithium secondary battery, lithium metal secondary battery and manufacturing method thereof using amorphous alloy powder or metallic glass powder sintered body

[0001] The present invention relates to a non-anode lithium secondary battery using a sintered body of an amorphous alloy powder or a metallic glass powder, a lithium metal secondary battery, and a method for manufacturing a non-anode lithium secondary battery using a sintered body of an amorphous alloy powder or a metallic glass powder, and more particularly, to a non-anode lithium secondary battery using a sintered body of an amorphous alloy powder or a mixture of metallic glass powder and a non-metal powder and a method for manufacturing the same, and to a non-anode lithium secondary battery using a sintered body of an amorphous alloy powder or a metallic glass powder and a method for manufacturing the same. The present invention relates to a lithium metal secondary battery including a lithium metal negative electrode in which lithium metal is filled in an empty space of a sintered body of an amorphous alloy powder or a mixture of metallic glass powder and a non-metal powder, and a lithium metal secondary battery including a lithium metal negative electrode in which lithium metal is filled in an empty space of a sintered body of an amorphous alloy powder or a metallic glass powder.

[0002] The current collector of a lithium secondary battery serves as a conductor that collects electrons generated through electrochemical reactions in the active material and channels them to an external conductor, or as an intermediate passage that supplies electrons provided from the external conductor to the electrode active material. Furthermore, it is a crucial material for implementing the shape of the electrode plate. Considering factors such as electronic conductivity, electrochemical stability, and the electrode plate manufacturing process, most current collectors use metallic materials. Since collectors that are too thin lack sufficient mechanical strength, a thickness of approximately 10 to 20 μm is typically used. Furthermore, the surface condition of the current collector significantly influences the application of the slurry. It must exhibit good wettability with the electrode slurry and ensure sufficient bonding strength between the binder and the current collector even after the solvent has evaporated.

[0003] Copper is primarily used as the negative current collector for lithium secondary batteries. This is because nickel and copper are electrochemically inactive metals within the operating range of carbon electrodes. However, nickel is expensive and therefore not widely used, while the relatively inexpensive copper is widely used.

[0004] Therefore, further research is needed on methods to improve the coulombic efficiency, electrical capacity, etc. of the negative electrode current collector using copper or nickel.

[0005] The present invention is intended to solve the above problems, and provides a non-anode lithium secondary battery including a current collector manufactured from a sintered body of a mixture of amorphous alloy powder or metallic glass powder and non-metallic powder, or a current collector manufactured from a sintered body of two or more types of amorphous alloy powder or metallic glass powder, in order to improve the coulombic efficiency, electric capacity, etc. of the negative electrode current collector.

[0006] In addition, it is an object of the present invention to provide a lithium metal secondary battery including a lithium metal negative electrode in which lithium metal is filled in a void space of a sintered body of a mixture of an amorphous alloy powder or a metallic glass powder and a non-metallic powder, or a sintered body of a mixture of two or more types of amorphous alloy powders or metallic glass powders.

[0009] In addition, a lithium metal secondary battery according to a third embodiment of the present invention includes: a positive electrode; a lithium metal negative electrode positioned facing the positive electrode, the void space of a sintered body of an amorphous alloy powder or a mixture of metallic glass powder and non-metal powder being filled with lithium metal; an electrolyte positioned between the positive electrode and the lithium metal negative electrode; and a separator separating the positive electrode and the lithium metal negative electrode.

[0010] In addition, a lithium metal secondary battery according to a fourth embodiment of the present invention includes: a positive electrode; a lithium metal negative electrode positioned facing the positive electrode, the void space of a sintered body of a mixture of amorphous alloy powder or metallic glass powder being filled with lithium metal; an electrolyte positioned between the positive electrode and the lithium metal negative electrode; and a separator separating the positive electrode and the lithium metal negative electrode.

[0011] In the first to fourth embodiments, the electrolyte is characterized in that it is a liquid electrolyte or a solid electrolyte.

[0012] In addition, a method for manufacturing a non-anode lithium secondary battery of a fifth embodiment of the present invention includes: a first step of manufacturing a paste containing an amorphous alloy powder or a metallic glass powder and a non-metallic powder; a second step of printing the paste of the first step on a substrate using a screen mask pattern; a third step of heat-treating the paste of the second step to obtain a sintered body; and a fourth step of separating the sintered body obtained in the third step from the substrate. Here, in the second step, the paste mixed in the first step is printed using a squeegee. In the third step, the printed product in the second step is placed in an RTP (Rapid Thermal Process) equipment, purged in an Ar atmosphere, and then heat-treated while flowing Ar gas.

[0013] In addition, a method for manufacturing a non-anode lithium secondary battery of a sixth embodiment of the present invention includes: a first step of manufacturing a paste containing an amorphous alloy powder or a metallic glass powder; a second step of printing the paste of the first step on a substrate using a screen mask pattern; a third step of heat-treating the paste of the second step to obtain a sintered body; and a fourth step of separating the sintered body obtained in the third step from the substrate. Here, in the second step, the paste mixed in the first step is printed using a squeegee. In the third step, the printed product in the second step is placed in an RTP (Rapid Thermal Process) equipment, purged in an Ar atmosphere, and then heat-treated while flowing Ar gas.

[0014] In the present invention, in order to manufacture a current collector or a lithium metal negative electrode, a mixture of two or more types of amorphous alloy powders or two or more types of metallic glass powders and non-metallic powders is sintered and used, or a mixture of two or more types of amorphous alloy powders or two or more types of metallic glass powders is sintered and used.

[0015] The above metallic glass powder contains at least two different elements. Here, the metallic glass powder contains a component represented by the following formula 1.

[0016] (Am1) n1 + (Am2) n2 + (Am3) n3 + ····· + (Amx) ny (Formula 1)

[0017] Here, Am1, Am2, Am3, ····· , Amx represent different metallic glass elements, x is an integer greater than or equal to 2, more preferably x is an integer greater than or equal to 2 and less than or equal to 30, y is an integer greater than or equal to 2 and less than or equal to 30, and satisfies n1 > 0, n2 > 0, n3 ≥ 0, ····· , ny ≥ 0 and n1 + n2 + ····· + ny = 100.

[0018] For example, if the metallic glass is composed of two elements, it is represented by the following equation 1-1.

[0019] (Am1) n1 + (Am2) n2 (Formula 1-1)

[0020] Here, Am1 and Am2 represent different metallic glass elements, and satisfy n1 > 0, n2 > 0, n3 = 0, ····· , ny = 0, and n1 + n2 = 100.

[0021] Alternatively, if the metallic glass is composed of four elements, it is represented by the following equation 1-2.

[0022] (Am1) n1 + (Am2) n2 + (Am3) n3 + (Am4) n4 (Formula 1-2)

[0023] Here, Am1, Am2, Am3, and Am4 represent different metallic glass elements, and satisfy n1 > 0, n2 > 0, n3 > 0, n4 > 0, n5 = 0, ····· , ny = 0, and n1 + n2 + n3 + n4 = 100.

[0024] The metal glass powder containing the component represented by the above formula 1 satisfies the enthalpy relationship of the following formula 2, △H total ≥ 0 In the process of manufacturing an amorphous alloy powder or metallic glass powder, the amorphous alloy powder or metallic glass powder more easily undergoes a phase transformation into a crystalline phase, and thus the effect of the present invention is not obtained.

[0025] △H total = △H 12 + △H 13 + △H 14 + ····· + △H 1x

[0026] + △H 23 + △H 24 + ····· + △H 2x

[0027] + △H 34 + ····· + △H 3x

[0028] + ····· + △H (x-1)x < 0 (Equation 2)

[0029] Here, △H (x-1)x represents the mixture series of elements Am(x-1) and Am(x). For example, the mixture series of elements in the above equation 2 is defined as follows.

[0030] △H 12 : Mixing heat of Am1 and Am2 elements

[0031] △H 13 : Mixing heat of Am1 and Am3 elements

[0032] △H 14 : Mixing heat of Am1 and Am4 elements

[0033] △H 1x : Mixing heat of Am1 and Amx elements

[0037] △H 34 : Mixing heat of Am3 and Am4 elements

[0038] △H 3x : Mixing heat of Am3 and Amx elements

[0039] For example, if the above metal glass powder is composed of three elements, it is represented by the following formula 2-1.
