Description

[0001]P0000295EP CPL 1 SOLID LAUNDRY COMPOSITION Field of the Invention 5 The present invention relates to a solid laundry detergent composition, more particularly it relates to a solid laundry detergent composition containing an ethoxylated nonionic surfactant. Background of the Invention Laundry detergent composition have for many years formulated having an anionic sulphonate10 and / or a sulfate surfactant. Particularly solid laundry detergent composition include sulphonate surfactant preferably along with sulphate surfactant for providing cleaning performance and desired sensorial benefits. 15 With changing laundry habits, consumers these days are shifting towards more sustainable washing habits which requires reduced consumption of energy, water, and detergent active. Solid detergent composition needs to be re-designed to meet these changing habits while still providing consumers a detergent composition which is effective on a spectrum of different 20 stains and soils. In the past this has been achieved by mixing different surfactants which are broadly effective in cleaning performance. One area which requires careful selection of surfactants is when the detergent composition needs to provide effective removal of stubborn greasy / oily stains. The inclusion of nonionic surfactant to improve the effectiveness of greasy / oily stains is known to give limited benefits towards removal of such stains. 25 This gets even more challenging as consumers now desire to get improved cleaning performance at low wash temperature of 30°C or even lower. Yet another consumer interest is in detergent composition which in addition to removing the stubborn stains such as greasy and oily stains also have the ability to prevent redeposition of 30 the soils or the breakdown products of the soils and thus providing overall good cleaning performance. US2009 / 0281010 A1 (The Dial Corporation) discloses an eco-friendly liquid laundry detergent composition having non-petroleum anionic and nonionic surfactants which exhibits good stain35 removal and whiteness retention. P0000295EP CPL 2 WO 2023 / 025744 A1 (Unilever) discloses a solid laundry composition which includes nonionic surfactant and sulphate surfactant and provides for maintaining or sustaining good bacteria and commensals in the skin microbiome. 5 US 2023 / 265365 A1 (Bullivant Timothy) discloses a water-soluble unit dose article comprising a granular laundry composition which provides good suds generation. The granular laundry composition includes a surfactant system comprising linear alkyl benzene sulphonate and alkyl alkoxylated alcohol having an average degree of alkoxylation of from 1 to 10. 10 WO 2022 / 162062 A1 (Unilever) discloses a solid laundry detergent composition which includes an anionic surfactant, nonionic alkoxylated surfactant and amphoteric surfactant and provides for good cleaning profile and fabric care profile and has low carbonate levels and silicate levels. WO 2019 / 095089 A1 (Procter & Gamble) discloses a granular laundry detergent composition 15 which includes anionic surfactant and C12 to C15 ethoxylated alcohol with 7 to 9 EO groups and provides antimicrobial benefit. It is thus desired to provide a solid laundry detergent composition which provides for good cleaning performance and desired sensorial benefits. 20 It is also desired to provide a solid laundry detergent composition which provides for good cleaning performance under sustainable laundering conditions which involves reduced consumption of energy, water, and detergent active. 25 Summary of the Invention It has been surprisingly found that a solid laundry detergent composition having an anionic surfactant comprising sulphonate surfactant along with specific secondary alcohol based nonionic surfactant improves the stain removal performance and provides good greasy / oily stain removal performance, particularly in cold water conditions. It further provides overall 30 detergency performance and provides whiteness maintenance on fabrics. Preferably the composition including an amphoteric surfactant.
