Ethoxylation is a chemical reaction in which ethylene oxide adds to a substrate. It is the most widely practiced alkoxylation, which involves the addition of epoxides to substrates. In the usual application, alcohols and phenols are converted into R(OC₂H₄)ₙOH where n ranges from 1 to 10. Such compounds are called alcohol ethoxylates. Alcohol ethoxylates are often converted to related species called ethoxysulfates. Alcohol ethoxylates and ethoxysulfates are surfactants, used widely in cosmetic and other commercial products. The process is of great industrial significance with more than 2,000,000 metric tons of various ethoxylates produced worldwide in 1994.

The ethoxylated trimethylolpropane forms a branched structure encapsulating ester bonds, with the phosphate ester groups located at the chain ends, improving aluminum powder orientation. The urea derivative forms a reversible hydrogen bond network, balancing thixotropy. Compared with existing technologies, this invention solves the problems of poor hydrolysis resistance, insufficient aluminum powder orientation, and difficulty in balancing thixotropy in aqueous polyurethane.

The dispersant provided by this invention is based on acetylacetonate diol, which undergoes hydrogenation, ethoxylation, polyesterification, and phosphorylation to form an innovative twin-type dispersant. By adjusting the length of the polyether and polyester in the dispersant, this invention can effectively improve the compatibility between various components in coatings or battery slurries, thereby reducing viscosity and improving slurry stability. Specifically, for battery slurries, the dispersant prepared by this invention can prevent the agglomeration of positive and negative electrode active materials and conductive agents in the slurry through steric hindrance, thus improving the fluidity of the battery slurry, improving the slurry gelation, and enhancing viscosity stability.
