The embodiment of the invention provides a method for preparing
benzil by oxidizing
benzoin, which comprises the following steps: S1, adding
benzoin and a
ferric ion solution into a reaction kettle, stirring and heating for reaction; s2, sampling and layering in the reaction process, observing the color of a water phase, introducing
chlorine gas into the reaction kettle when the water phase is changed from brown yellow to green, and introducing the
chlorine gas below the liquid level of the reaction liquid; s3, when yellow green gas overflows from
tail gas,
liquid phase detection is carried out,
benzoin reaction is completed, and the reaction is stopped; s4, after standing, separating liquid to obtain a lower-layer water phase and an upper-layer organic phase; wherein the lower-layer water phase is an
aqueous solution rich in
ferric ions, and the upper-layer organic phase is the product
benzil. According to the embodiment of the invention, at least the
metabolite of the
ferric ions, namely the
ferrous ions, is changed into the ferric ions which can be recycled.
