[0063] FIG. 2 is a drawing showing a state in which a wearable electronic device according to one embodiment is mounted within an electronic device.

[0064] Referring to FIG. 2, according to one embodiment, the electronic device (201) may be implemented as a cradle or a case. For example, the electronic device (201) may be implemented in a form (e.g., a cradle form or a case form) that can hold and store the wearable electronic device (301). The wearable electronic device (301) may be implemented as a wearable electronic device (e.g., a ring-shaped wearable electronic device) that can be held within the electronic device (201).

[0065] According to one embodiment, the wearable electronic device (301) can be worn on a user's finger. However, this is merely an example, and the electronic device (201) and the wearable electronic device (301) can be implemented as various types of electronic devices.

[0066] According to one embodiment, the electronic device (201) may include a first housing (202) and a second housing (203) disposed on an upper side of the first housing (202). According to one embodiment, the area of the first housing (202) may be larger than the area of the second housing (203).

[0067] According to one embodiment, the wearable electronic device (301) may be mounted on the outer surface of the second housing (203).

[0068] According to one embodiment, the electronic device (201) can wirelessly charge the wearable electronic device (301) when it is determined that the wearable electronic device (301) is mounted on the outer surface of the second housing (203).

[0069] According to one embodiment, the wearable electronic device (301) may be implemented as a ring-shaped wearable electronic device that can be worn on a user's finger. [0086] According to one embodiment, when it is determined that the wearable electronic device (301) is powered on, the processor (220) may obtain, from the wearable electronic device (301), information about the number of steps acquired before the wearable electronic device (301) is mounted on the electronic device (201). According to one embodiment, the information about the number of steps acquired before the wearable electronic device (301) is mounted on the electronic device (201) may include information about the number of steps acquired while the wearable electronic device (301) is worn on the user's body. According to one embodiment, when it is determined that the wearable electronic device (301) is powered on, the processor (220) may display, on the display (260), information about the number of steps acquired before the wearable electronic device (301) is mounted on the electronic device (201).

[0087] According to one embodiment, the processor (220) may display an object capable of executing a function of turning on the power of the wearable electronic device (301) on the display (260) based on determining that the power of the wearable electronic device (301) is off. According to one embodiment, when a user input for the object capable of executing a function of turning on the power of the wearable electronic device (301) is confirmed, the processor (220) may transmit a control signal to the wearable electronic device (301) to turn on the power of the wearable electronic device (301). According to one embodiment, the processor (320) may turn on the power of the wearable electronic device (301) based on obtaining the control signal to turn on the power of the wearable electronic device (301).

[0088] According to one embodiment, when it is determined that the power of the wearable electronic device (301) is turned on, the processor (220) may display at least one object corresponding to at least one function related to the wearable electronic device (301) on the display (260). For example, the function of initializing the wearable electronic device (301) may include a factory reset function. For example, the external electronic device may include a wearable device that can be worn on a wrist or a smartphone.

[0089] According to one embodiment, when an input for a first object among at least one object is confirmed, the processor (220) may transmit a control signal to the wearable electronic device (301) through the communication circuit (290) to cause the wearable electronic device (301) to execute a first function corresponding to the first object. For example, the input for the first object may include a touch input, a tap input, or a long press input for the first object. For example, the processor (220) may obtain a voice signal for executing the first function corresponding to the first object through the microphone (211). According to one embodiment, the processor (220) may analyze the voice signal and transmit a control signal to the wearable electronic device (301) to execute a function corresponding to the voice signal. According to one embodiment, the wearable electronic device (301) may execute the first function based on the control signal.

[0090] According to one embodiment, when an input or voice signal for a first object capable of executing a function of initializing a wearable electronic device (301) is obtained, the processor (220) may store biometric information in a memory (not shown) included in the electronic device (201) according to the user input. According to one embodiment, after storing biometric information in a memory (not shown) included in the electronic device (201) according to the user input, the processor (220) may transmit a control signal to the wearable electronic device (301) to initialize the wearable electronic device (301).

[0091] According to one embodiment, when the processor (220) determines that the second battery (330) is fully charged, the processor (220) may output information indicating that the second battery (330) is fully charged using the display (260) or speaker (212).

[0092] According to one embodiment, the processor (220) may display second status information of the second battery (330) on the display (260) even when it is determined that the wearable electronic device (301) is not placed within the electronic device (201). For example, the second status information may include information on the remaining capacity of the second battery (330) and information on the available time of the second battery (330).

[0093] According to one embodiment, if the processor (220) determines that the remaining capacity of the second battery (330) is less than a specified value, the processor (220) may transmit a control signal to the wearable electronic device (301) to output notification information to charge the second battery (330). For example, the specified value may represent a value for determining whether to transmit the control signal. For example, the specified value may be set by a user or automatically set by the processor (220).

[0094] According to one embodiment, the processor (220) can obtain the user's biometric information from the wearable electronic device (301) through the communication circuit (290) while the wearable electronic device (301) is not mounted within the electronic device (201). According to one embodiment, the processor (220) can display the user's biometric information on the display (260) while the wearable electronic device (301) is not mounted within the electronic device (201).

[0095] According to one embodiment, the processor (220) may obtain the user's step count from the wearable electronic device (301). According to one embodiment, the processor (220) may obtain whether the user is exercising based on the heart rate and step count included in the biometric information. For example, if the processor (220) determines that the heart rate is greater than a first preset value and the step count is greater than a second preset value, the processor (220) may determine that the user is exercising. For example, the first preset value and the second preset value may represent values for determining whether the user is exercising. For example, the first preset value and the second preset value may be set by the user or automatically set by the processor (220). For example, the first preset value may include a different value from the second preset value.

[0096] According to one embodiment, when the processor (220) determines that the user is exercising, the processor (220) may transmit a control signal to the wearable electronic device (301) to set the wearable electronic device (301) to an exercise mode.

[0097] According to one embodiment, when a heart rate value obtained from the wearable electronic device (301) corresponds to a preset heart rate value based on the wearable electronic device (301) being set to an exercise mode, the processor (220) may output notification information related to the heart rate value through the display (260) or through the speaker (212).

[0098] According to one embodiment, the processor (220) may determine whether the heart rate value acquired from the wearable electronic device (301) is included in a heart rate zone corresponding to aerobic exercise or a heart rate zone corresponding to anaerobic exercise based on the wearable electronic device (301) being set to an exercise mode. According to one embodiment, if the processor (220) determines that the heart rate value is included in a heart rate zone corresponding to aerobic exercise, the processor (220) may output, through the display (260) or through the speaker (212), notification information to maintain the exercise speed at which the heart rate value was acquired for a preset period of time (e.g., 10 minutes). According to one embodiment, if the processor (220) determines that the heart rate value is included in a heart rate zone corresponding to anaerobic exercise, the processor (220) may output, through the display (260) or through the speaker (212), notification information to maintain the exercise speed at which the heart rate value was acquired for a preset period of time (e.g., 5 minutes).

[0099] According to one embodiment, when the processor (220) determines that the user has performed exercise for a preset period of time based on the wearable electronic device (301) being set to an exercise mode, the processor (220) may output notification information related to the exercise time through the display (260) or through the speaker (212). According to one embodiment, when the processor (220) determines that the user has performed exercise for a preset period of time, the processor (220) may display a pop-up window on the display (260) to select whether to end the exercise mode.

[0100] According to one embodiment, the processor (220) may output notification information related to the average speed of the user based on the acceleration value obtained from the wearable electronic device (301) through the display (260) or through the speaker (212) based on the wearable electronic device (301) being set to the exercise mode.

[0101] According to one embodiment, the processor (220) may execute an always on display (AOD) function of the display (260) based on the wearable electronic device (301) being set to an exercise mode.

[0102] According to one embodiment, the processor (220) may determine whether the remaining capacity of the second battery (330) is greater than a specified value based on the wearable electronic device (301) being set to an exercise mode. According to one embodiment, if it is determined that the remaining capacity of the second battery (330) is greater than the specified value, the processor (220) may determine the quality of the biosignal acquired by the wearable electronic device (301). For example, the specified value may include a value for determining whether to determine the quality of the biosignal. For example, the quality of the biosignal may include a value related to a noise signal compared to the biosignal (e.g., signal to noise ratio (SNR)).

[0103] According to one embodiment, when the quality of the biosignal is lower than a specified quality, the processor (220) may transmit a control signal to the wearable electronic device (301) to adjust the measurement cycle of the sensor (310) to a second cycle shorter than a preset first cycle. For example, the specified quality may include a value for determining whether to transmit a control signal to adjust the measurement cycle of the sensor (310). According to one embodiment, when the quality of the biosignal is lower than the specified quality, the processor (220) may also transmit a control signal to the wearable electronic device (301) to cause the wearable electronic device (301) to output notification information about a wearing state of the wearable electronic device (301).

[0104] According to one embodiment, the processor (220) can obtain the user's biometric information and acceleration information from the wearable electronic device (301) through the communication circuit (290) while the wearable electronic device (301) is not installed in the electronic device (201). According to one embodiment, the processor (220) can determine whether the user is sleeping based on the heart rate and acceleration values.

[0105] According to one embodiment, when it is determined that the user is sleeping, the processor (220) may determine whether the remaining amount of the second battery (330) is less than a specified value. For example, the specified value may include a value for determining whether to transmit a control signal to set the wearable electronic device (301) to a power saving mode. According to one embodiment, when it is determined that the remaining amount of the second battery (330) is less than a specified value, the processor (220) may transmit a control signal to the wearable electronic device (301) to set the wearable electronic device (301) to a power saving mode. For example, when the wearable electronic device (301) is set to a power saving mode, it may not acquire at least some of the user's biometric information. For example, when the wearable electronic device (301) is set to a power saving mode, it may acquire information about heart rate, skin temperature, and fertile period, and not acquire information about oxygen saturation, sleep apnea, and snoring.

[0106] According to one embodiment, if the processor (220) determines that the remaining amount of the second battery (330) is not less than a specified value, the processor (220) may transmit a control signal to the wearable electronic device (301) to set the wearable electronic device (301) to a sleep mode.

[0107] According to one embodiment, the processor (220) can obtain information on heart rate, skin temperature, fertile period, oxygen saturation, apnea and snoring during sleep when the wearable electronic device (301) is set to sleep mode.

[0108] According to one embodiment, the processor (220) may analyze a voice signal acquired through a microphone (211) and output the analyzed result through a speaker (212). For example, the voice signal may include a signal related to status information of the second battery (330) and a signal related to status information of the first battery (230).

[0109] According to one embodiment, the processor (220) can charge the wearable electronic device (301) in a fast charging mode or a normal charging mode according to a user's input.

[0110] According to one embodiment, when a wearable electronic device (301) is mounted in an electronic device (201), information displayed through a display (260) may be different from information displayed through a display (260) when a wearable electronic device (301) is worn on a user's body in an electronic device (201). According to one embodiment, operations of the electronic device (201) performed when a wearable electronic device (301) is mounted in an electronic device (201) may be substantially identically applied even when the wearable electronic device (301) is not mounted in an electronic device (201). For example, the specified times can be set by the user, or can be set by the electronic device (201) or the wearable electronic device (301). According to one embodiment, the electronic device (201) can also obtain the user's biometric information from the wearable electronic device (301) in real time.

[0145] According to one embodiment, in operation 633, the electronic device (201) may display biometric information obtained from the wearable electronic device (301) through the display (260) (e.g., the display (260) of FIG. 2).

[0146] FIG. 7 is a flowchart illustrating an operation of transmitting a control signal to a wearable electronic device to output notification information causing the electronic device to charge a second battery of the wearable electronic device according to one embodiment.

[0147] In the following examples, the operations may be performed sequentially, but are not necessarily sequential. For example, the order of the operations may be changed, and at least two operations may be performed in parallel.

[0148] Referring to FIG. 7, according to one embodiment, in operation 711, the electronic device (201) (e.g., the electronic device (201) of FIG. 3) can determine that the wearable electronic device (301) (e.g., the wearable electronic device (301) of FIG. 3) is not mounted within the electronic device (201).

[0149] According to one embodiment, in operation 713, the electronic device (201) may obtain second status information of the second battery (330) (e.g., the second battery (330) of FIG. 3) from the wearable electronic device (301) via the communication circuit (290) (e.g., the communication circuit (290) of FIG. 3). For example, the second status information may include information on the remaining capacity of the second battery (330) and information on the available time of the second battery (330).

[0150] According to one embodiment, in operation 715, the electronic device (201) may display second state information on a display (260) (e.g., display (260) of FIG. 3).

[0151] According to one embodiment, in operation 717, the electronic device (201) may transmit a control signal to the wearable electronic device (301) to output notification information to charge the second battery (330) based on the second state information.

[0152] According to one embodiment, if the electronic device (201) determines that the remaining amount of the second battery (330) is less than a specified value based on the second status information, the electronic device (201) may transmit a control signal to the wearable electronic device (301) to output notification information to charge the second battery (330). For example, the specified value may include a value determined to transmit the control signal to the wearable electronic device (301). According to one embodiment, the wearable electronic device (301) may visually or audibly output the notification information based on obtaining the control signal to output notification information to charge the second battery (330).

[0153] According to one embodiment, if the electronic device (201) determines that the remaining amount of the second battery (330) is not less than a specified value based on the second status information, the electronic device (201) may not transmit a control signal to the wearable electronic device (301) to output notification information to charge the second battery (330).

[0154] FIG. 8 is a flowchart illustrating an operation of an electronic device according to one embodiment to determine whether a user wearing a wearable electronic device is exercising.

[0155] In the following examples, the operations may be performed sequentially, but are not necessarily sequential. For example, the order of the operations may be changed, and at least two operations may be performed in parallel.

[0156] Referring to FIG. 8, according to one embodiment, in operation 811, the electronic device (201) (e.g., the electronic device (201) of FIG. 3) can determine that the wearable electronic device (301) is not mounted within the electronic device (201).

[0157] According to one embodiment, in operation 813, the electronic device (201) may obtain biometric information of the user from the wearable electronic device (301) through the communication circuit (290) (e.g., the communication circuit (290) of FIG. 3). According to one embodiment, the electronic device (201) may obtain acceleration information from the wearable electronic device (301) through the communication circuit (290).

[0158] According to one embodiment, in operation 815, the electronic device (201) can determine that the user is exercising based on information about biometric information and the number of steps. For example, the electronic device (201) can determine whether the user is exercising based on the number of steps and the heart rate included in the biometric information. For example, if the electronic device (201) determines that the heart rate is greater than a first preset value and the number of steps is greater than a second preset value, the electronic device (201) can determine that the user is exercising. For example, the first preset value and the second preset value may represent values for determining whether the user is exercising.

[0159] According to one embodiment, in operation 817, if the electronic device (201) determines that the user is exercising, the electronic device (201) may transmit a control signal to the wearable electronic device (301) to set the wearable electronic device (301) to an exercise mode.

[0160] According to one embodiment, when the wearable electronic device (301) is set to exercise mode, it can output the user's biometric information, information about the user's number of steps, information about exercise time, or information about average speed through visual or auditory means.

[0161] According to one embodiment, in operation 819, the electronic device (201) may display information related to an exercise mode through a display (260) (e.g., the display (260) of FIG. 2) based on determining that the user is exercising.

[0162] According to one embodiment, the electronic device (201) can display biometric information, information about the number of steps taken by the user, information about exercise time, or information about average speed obtained from the wearable electronic device (301) at specified intervals or in real time through the display (260).

[0163] According to one embodiment, when the heart rate value obtained from the wearable electronic device (301) corresponds to a preset heart rate value, the electronic device (201) may display notification information related to the heart rate value through the display (260) or output it through the speaker (212) (e.g., the speaker (212) of FIG. 3).

[0164] According to one embodiment, the electronic device (201) can check whether the heart rate value acquired from the wearable electronic device (301) is included in a heart rate zone corresponding to aerobic exercise or a heart rate zone corresponding to anaerobic exercise. According to one embodiment, if the electronic device (201) determines that the heart rate value is included in a heart rate zone corresponding to aerobic exercise, the electronic device (201) can output notification information to maintain the exercise speed at which the heart rate value was acquired for a preset period of time (e.g., 10 minutes) through the display (260) or through the speaker (212). According to one embodiment, if the electronic device (201) determines that the heart rate value is included in a heart rate zone corresponding to anaerobic exercise, the electronic device (201) can output notification information to maintain the exercise speed at which the heart rate value was acquired for a preset period of time (e.g., 5 minutes) through the display (260) or through the speaker (212).

[0165] According to one embodiment, when it is determined that exercise has been performed for a preset period of time, the electronic device (201) may output notification information related to the exercise time through the display (260) or through the speaker (212).

[0166] According to one embodiment, the electronic device (201) may output notification information related to the average speed of the user based on the acceleration value obtained from the wearable electronic device (301) through the display (260) or through the speaker (212).

[0167] According to one embodiment, the electronic device (201) can execute an always on display (AOD) function of the display (260).

[0168] FIG. 9A is a flowchart illustrating an operation of transmitting a control signal to adjust a measurement cycle of a sensor of a wearable electronic device according to one embodiment.

[0169] In the following examples, the operations may be performed sequentially, but are not necessarily sequential. For example, the order of the operations may be changed, and at least two operations may be performed in parallel.

[0170] Referring to FIG. 9A, according to one embodiment, in operation 911, an electronic device (201) (e.g., the electronic device (201) of FIG. 3) may determine that a user wearing a wearable electronic device (301) (e.g., the wearable electronic device (301) of FIG. 3) is exercising.

[0171] According to one embodiment, in operation 913, the electronic device (201) may check whether the remaining capacity of the second battery (330) of the wearable electronic device (301) (e.g., the second battery (330) of FIG. 3) is greater than a specified value.

[0172] According to one embodiment, if the electronic device (201) determines that the remaining capacity of the second battery (330) is greater than a specified value (operation 913 - Yes), in operation 915, the electronic device (201) may determine the quality of a biosignal acquired by the wearable electronic device (301). For example, the specified value may include a value for determining whether to determine the quality of the biosignal.

[0173] According to one embodiment, in operation 917, the electronic device (201) may determine whether to transmit a control signal to the wearable electronic device (301) to adjust a measurement cycle of a sensor (310) (e.g., sensor (310) of FIG. 3 ) of the wearable electronic device (301) based on the quality of the biosignal. For example, the quality of the biosignal may include a value related to a noise signal compared to the biosignal (e.g., a signal to noise ratio (SNR)).

[0174] According to one embodiment, if the quality of the biosignal is lower than a specified quality, the electronic device (201) may transmit a control signal to the wearable electronic device (301) to adjust the measurement cycle of the sensor (310). For example, the specified quality may include a value for determining whether to transmit a control signal to adjust the measurement cycle of the sensor (310). For example, the electronic device (201) may transmit a control signal to the wearable electronic device (301) to adjust the measurement cycle of the sensor (310) to a second cycle that is shorter than a preset first cycle. Depending on the implementation, if the quality of the biosignal is lower than the specified quality, the electronic device (201) may transmit a control signal to the wearable electronic device (301) to adjust the measurement cycle of the sensor (310) to a third cycle that is longer than the preset first cycle.

[0175] According to an implementation, in one embodiment, when the quality of the biosignal is higher than a specified quality, the electronic device (201) may transmit a control signal to the wearable electronic device (301) to adjust the measurement cycle of the sensor (310). For example, the electronic device (201) may transmit a control signal to the wearable electronic device (301) to adjust the measurement cycle of the sensor (310) to a third cycle that is longer than a preset first cycle. According to an implementation, when the quality of the biosignal is higher than a specified quality, the electronic device (201) may transmit a control signal to the wearable electronic device (301) to adjust the measurement cycle of the sensor (310) to a second cycle that is shorter than the preset first cycle.

[0176] According to one embodiment, if the electronic device (201) determines that the remaining amount of the second battery (330) is not greater than a specified value (operation 913-No), in operation 919, the electronic device (201) may transmit a control signal to the wearable electronic device (301) to output notification information for charging the second battery (330).

[0177] According to one embodiment, if the wearable electronic device (301) determines that the remaining amount of the second battery (330) is not greater than a specified value, the wearable electronic device (301) may not transmit the user's biometric information to the electronic device (201). For example, the biometric information may include information on at least one of heart rate, electrocardiogram, body fat, skin temperature, fertile period, sleep time, activity time, blood pressure, or calories consumed. According to one embodiment, if the wearable electronic device (301) determines that the remaining amount of the second battery (330) is not greater than a specified value, the wearable electronic device (301) may not transmit at least a portion of the user's biometric information to the electronic device (201).

[0178] FIG. 9b is a flowchart illustrating an operation of an electronic device according to one embodiment of the present invention to display a user's biometric information when the wearable electronic device is set to sleep mode.

For example, when the wearable electronic device (301) determines that the user is exercising, it may transmit information on the user's number of steps, exercise time, heart rate, skin temperature, fertile period, oxygen saturation, sleep apnea, and snoring to the electronic device (201). However, this is an example, and examples of information transmitted to the electronic device (201) may not be limited thereto.

[0184] According to one embodiment, the electronic device (201) can obtain information about heart rate, skin temperature, fertile period, oxygen saturation, apnea and snoring during sleep from the wearable electronic device (301).

[0185] According to one embodiment, if the electronic device (201) determines that the remaining amount of the second battery (330) is not greater than a specified value (operation 933-No), then in operation 937, the electronic device (201) can control the power of the wearable electronic device (301).

[0186] According to one embodiment, the electronic device (201) may transmit a control signal to the wearable electronic device (301) to set the wearable electronic device (301) to a power saving mode. For example, when the wearable electronic device (301) is set to a power saving mode, the wearable electronic device (301) may acquire information on oxygen saturation, apnea, and snoring during sleep, and may not acquire information on heart rate, skin temperature, and fertile period.

[0187] According to one embodiment, the electronic device (201) can transmit a control signal to the wearable electronic device (301) to turn off the power of the wearable electronic device (301). According to one embodiment, the wearable electronic device (301) can turn off the power of the wearable electronic device (301) based on the control signal.

[0188] According to one embodiment, the electronic device (201) may store information about the user's sleep state in the memory of the electronic device (201). For example, the information about the user's sleep state may include information about the time the user started sleeping, information about the time the user ended sleeping, and information about the user's total sleep time. According to one embodiment, the electronic device (201) may predict the user's sleep start time (e.g., 10 PM) based on the information about the user's sleep state.

[0189] According to one embodiment, the electronic device (201) can check the remaining capacity of the second battery (330) at a designated time prior to the predicted sleep start time of the user. According to one embodiment, the electronic device (201) can transmit a control signal to the wearable electronic device (301) to output notification information for charging the second battery (330) based on the remaining capacity of the second battery (330) being less than a designated value.
