[0066] To facilitate understanding, the application scenarios, related technologies, and concepts involved in the embodiments of this application will be introduced first.
[0067] I. Application Scenarios of the Embodiments of this Application
[0068] The technical solutions provided in this application can be applied to environmental IoT communication scenarios. For example, they can be applied to scenarios such as item inventory, logistics inventory, and fire early warning. Furthermore, they can be applied to dedicated readers for Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology, WiFi transmission scenarios, cellular network transmission scenarios, or next-generation mobile communication scenarios.
[0069] II. Information Transmission Between Readers and Tag Devices in RFID
[0070] As shown in Figure 2, the reader can send signaling of types such as Select, Inventory, and Access to the tag device. The status of the tag device can include Ready, Arbitrate, Reply, Acknowledged, Open, Secured, and Killed.
[0071] The operation instructions for the reader are shown in Table 1:
[0072] Table 1
[0073] The status of the tag devices is shown in Table 2:
[0074] Table 2
[0075] Figure 3 illustrates the response process of a single tag device. In inventory mode, the reader selects a tag device and sends a query command. The tag device responds by generating a 16-bit random number and sending it to the reader. The reader then sends this random number sequence back to the tag device via an ACK command. The tag device then sends relevant data to the reader, such as Protocol Control (PC) / Extended Protocol Control (XPC), Electronic Product Code (EPC), and Packet Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC). If the EPC is valid, the reader can send a QueryRep command or other commands. If the EPC is invalid, the reader can send a NAK command. The process from the reader sending the query command to the reader receiving the relevant data from the tag device constitutes the response process of a single tag device.
[0076] III. Competitive Communication Process
[0077] Backscatter communication systems are a type of environmental Internet of Things (IoT) system. In existing backscatter communication systems, a reader inventories one or more tag devices. The inventory process may include: the tag device receiving inventory preparation commands from the reader, such as a select command; the tag device receiving inventory control commands from the reader, such as an inventory command (Query), a re-inventory command (QueryRep), and an inventory adjustment command (QueryAdjust). The inventory process also includes the tag device sending signals to the reader in response to the received inventory control commands or access control commands.
[0078] A reader typically receives the backscattered signal from only one tag at a time. However, during inventory checks, multiple tags may communicate with the reader simultaneously. For example, in an RFID inventory process, the reader sends an inventory control command, such as a query, indicating a value Q. The tag randomly selects a value q from the range {0, ..., 2^Q-1}. Tags with a current random value of 0 respond to the reader's control command and transmit their backscattered signal; tags with a non-zero random value do not transmit their backscattered signal. In this process, multiple tags may generate the same random number locally, potentially leading to simultaneous backscattered transmissions at a given moment. In this case, the reader is unlikely to detect any tag's backscattered signal and will not send feedback based on the tag's backscattered signal. These tags will continue receiving the reader's control commands, waiting for a new opportunity to transmit backscattered signals. The reader can gradually adjust the Q value during the inventory process to control the probability of collisions during communication between multiple tags. After completing communication with a tag device whose random value is 0, the reader can continue to send control commands, such as QueryRep, instructing the tag device to decrement the generated random number by 1. The tag device whose random value is reduced to 0 responds to this control command and transmits a backscatter signal. This process of sending and receiving signals by the tag devices is a contention-based random multiple access process. Once the contention between the tag devices is resolved, the reader can communicate with individual tag devices separately, for example, performing an access operation on a single tag device by sending an access command to that specific tag device, which then responds.
[0079] NR / LTE systems also support contention-based random multiple access procedures. The base station configures a set of random access signal resources. Terminals randomly select a resource from this set to transmit random access signals, such as the Physical Random Access Channel (PRACH). If multiple terminals select the same PRACH resource, for example, transmitting the same preamble sequence on the same time-frequency resource, the base station may not detect any terminal's PRACH and will not send feedback information to the terminals, such as not sending a Random Access Response (RAR) or Physical Downlink Shared Channel (PDSCH) for these terminals. In this case, these terminals will retry transmitting the PRACH after a certain time window. Alternatively, if the base station detects a signal on a time-frequency resource but fails to receive it correctly, the base station can send a RAR PDSCH to match this time-frequency resource and indicate a backoff indicator. Terminals that have transmitted PRACH on this time-frequency resource can retry transmitting the PRACH based on this backoff indicator. The base station controls the probability of collisions among multiple terminals by adjusting the backoff indicator. Furthermore, base stations can control the probability of collisions among multiple terminals by adjusting backoff parameters in the system information. Once terminal contention conflicts are resolved, the base station can communicate with each individual terminal separately. NR / LTE systems also support contention-free random access procedures.
[0080] IV. Classification and Characteristics of Environmental Internet of Things Devices
[0081] Environmental IoT devices are characterized by their energy storage capacity and ability to generate and transmit radio frequency signals. The environmental IoT device possesses one of the following energy storage capabilities:
[0082] Storage capacity 1: No ability to store energy;
[0083] Storage capacity 2: Energy can be stored up to E1 or E2 joules, where it is possible that E1 = E2;
[0084] Storage capacity 3: Energy can be stored up to E2 joules.
[0085] Based on these storage capacities, the study considered the following set of IoT devices in different environments:
[0086] Device A: It has no energy storage capacity, no independent signal generation / amplification capability, and can perform backscatter transmission;
[0087] Device B: Possesses energy storage capabilities but lacks independent signal generation capabilities; it can perform backscatter transmission. The use of stored energy can include amplifying the reflected signal.
[0088] Device C: It has energy storage capabilities, independent signal generation capabilities, and active radio frequency components for transmission.
[0089] V. Environmental IoT Data / Service Types
[0090] Device-originated (DO) indicates that the data stream originates from environmental IoT devices (such as RFID tag devices);
[0091] Device-terminated (DT) indicates that the data stream has been transmitted to an environmental IoT device.
[0092] Data originating from environmental IoT devices, i.e., DO data, can be further categorized as follows:
[0093] Autonomously initiated data transmission (Device-originated-Auto, DO-A), such as connecting a large number of various sensors that collect and proactively report information about the environment, equipment, and organisms when necessary;
[0094] DT-triggered DO data transmission (Device-originated-device-terminated triggered, DO-DTT), such as asset identification, status reporting, and tracking, are all downlink (DL) triggered reports. Read / write devices collect data from environmental IoT devices by triggering inventory procedures. Since the data is generated / initiated within the environmental IoT device, this service should be considered as a DO service initiated by the environmental IoT device based on commands sent by the read / write device.
[0095] VI. Paging Process
[0096] In NR systems, terminals can use Discontinuous Reception (DRX) in idle or inactive states to save power. During each DRX cycle, the terminal listens for a paging occasion (PO) to obtain downlink control information (DCI). The base station configures parameters for the set of monitoring occasions (MOs) used for paging on the Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH). The terminal calculates the System Frame Number (SFN) of the paging frame (PF) containing the PO and the index number of the PO using a formula, and then determines the location of the PO from the PDCCH MO set.
[0097] The formula for determining the PF's radio frame number SFN is: (SFN + PF_offset) mod T = (T div N) * (UE_ID mod N);
[0098] The formula for determining the index number i_s of PO is: i_s = floor(UE_ID / N) mod Ns;
[0099] Where T is the terminal's DRX cycle, N is the number of PFs within a cycle T, PF_offset is the offset value of the PF starting point, UE_ID is determined according to the terminal's unique identifier Short-Temporary Mobile Subscriber Identity (s-TMSI), and Ns represents the number of POs in a PF.
[0100] The terminal receives the Paging PDSCH via the Paging DCI. The Paging PDSCH carries the paging message. The paging message may contain one or more paging records, each corresponding to a terminal. As shown in Figure 4, a Paging PDSCH includes the paging records for terminal 1, terminal 2, and terminal 3. One or more terminals paged by a single paging message correspond to the same PO, meaning one or more terminals paged by a single paging message correspond to the same PF and i_s. Furthermore, the paging message may also contain paging group information for Multimedia Broadcast Service (MBS) services. As shown in Figure 5, a Paging PDSCH includes the paging records for terminal 1, terminal 2, terminal 3, and the MBS paging group. The paging group information is represented by the Temporary Mobile Group Identity (TMGI), which includes the Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) and the service ID.
[0101] In existing NR systems, base stations page terminals via paging messages. Terminals then perform random access procedures or listen to system information based on the paging message. Terminals determine the time resources for receiving paging messages, such as paging timing, paging frame, and frequency domain resources, based on their UE identity (UE_ID) and paging parameters configured by the base station (e.g., paging search space, DRX cycle, etc.). Because different terminals have different time resources for paging messages, even if the information in the paging message is directed to a group of users, the base station still needs to send the same paging message in different time resources, resulting in unnecessary paging message overhead. For example, although a single paging PDSCH can carry paging group information for a group of users' MSBs, if the UE_IDs of terminals belonging to this paging group calculate different POs, the base station still needs to send the paging PDSCH separately in each PO. In some application scenarios of environmental IoT, such as inventory scenarios, the inventory control information sent by a reader is directed to all the tag devices being inventoried, and the number of tag devices may be large. If the existing paging mechanism is used, the reader needs to send inventory control information to the corresponding PO of each tag device separately, resulting in a serious waste of network downlink resources.
[0102] Furthermore, existing paging messages carry limited information, such as only ID information (e.g., UE_ID or TMGI), whether the access type is 3GPP access, and whether the access reason is voice. After receiving a paging message, the terminal needs to perform a random access procedure and obtain more downlink control information or downlink data during this procedure or after establishing a Radio Resource Control (RRC) connection. For some environmental IoT application scenarios, such as inventory checks, performing inventory operations based on the information in existing paging messages may cause unnecessary random access procedures for environmental IoT devices that are not participating in the inventory, leading to system congestion and reduced inventory efficiency.
[0103] The application scenarios, related technologies and concepts of the embodiments of this application have been introduced above. The information transmission method provided by the embodiments of this application will be described in detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings through some embodiments and their application scenarios.
[0104] Referring to Figure 6, which is a flowchart of an implementation of an information transmission method provided in this application, the method includes the following steps:
[0105] S610: The first communication device receives the first configuration information;
[0106] S620: The first communication device determines the first resource based on the first configuration information and the first device information;
[0107] S630: The first communication device receives a control channel or a data channel based on the first resource;
[0108] Among them, the control channel is the channel used to carry control information, such as the Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) and the AIoT Physical Downlink Control Channel (APDCCH), while the data channel is the channel or shared channel used to carry downlink data, such as the Physical Downlink Shared Channel (PDSCH) and the AIoT Physical Downlink Shared Channel (APDSCH).
[0109] The first device information includes the device identification information of the first communication device or the group identification information of the device group to which the first communication device belongs.
[0110] The first communication device can be an AIoT device, which is an ultra-low complexity and ultra-low power consumption device. For example, an AIoT device can be a passive IoT device, a semi-passive IoT device, or an active IoT device that does not have the ability to generate its own power.
[0111] By applying the method provided in the embodiments of this application, after receiving the first configuration information, the first communication device determines the first resource based on the first configuration information and the first device information. Then, based on the first resource, it can receive a control channel or a data channel. The first device information includes the device identification information of the first communication device or the group identification information of the device group to which the first communication device belongs. In this way, the first communication device can receive the control channel or the data channel based on the first configuration information and the device identification information of the first communication device or the group identification information of the device group to which the first communication device belongs. First communication devices belonging to the same device group can use the same control channel or data channel for control, thereby achieving efficient control of the first communication device and improving information transmission efficiency.
[0112] In this embodiment, the second communication device can send first configuration information and, based on the first configuration information, send a control channel or a data channel. The first communication device can receive the first configuration information, determine a first resource based on the first configuration information and first device information, and attempt to receive downlink information in the first resource. This downlink information is carried by a control channel, or by a data channel scheduled based on the control channel, or by a data channel not scheduled by the control channel.
[0113] As mentioned above, the first communication device can be an environmental IoT (AIoT) device, such as a tag device. The second communication device can be a network-side device, a terminal device, or a relay device. The network-side device can be a base station or a core network device, and the terminal device can be a UE (User Equipment) or other types of terminal devices, such as a reader. The first resource can include a single resource or a set of multiple resources, and can be a subset or the entire set of resources configured by the second communication device for downlink information transmission of a single or multiple first communication devices.
[0114] In one possible implementation, the control channel and the data channel can be two independent physical channels. In another possible implementation, the control channel and the data channel can be different parts of a single physical channel. For example, a physical channel for a first communication device can be divided into two parts: the first part carries control information, and the second part carries downlink data.
[0115] The first device information may include the device identification information of the first communication device or the group identification information of the device group to which the first communication device belongs, and the first configuration information may be determined based on the device identification information of the first communication device or the group identification information of the device group.
[0116] The device identification information of the first communication device can be a unique identifier of the first communication device, such as a device ID.
[0117] The group identification information for a device group can be specific purpose-based identification information. For example, group identification information can correspond to whether the device group is used for inventory. For instance, a second communication device might assign an ID to an inventory check, or a standard might predefine an ID for inventory checks. Inventory checks are typically performed on a group of devices, so this ID used for inventory checks can be considered a group ID for a device group. Alternatively, group identification information can correspond to a service type, such as inventory checks, location tracking, or detection. Group identification information can be an ID that both the first and second communication devices can use to identify the device group. For example, inventory checks, location tracking, or detection correspond to different group IDs. Furthermore, inventory checks can be categorized into different service types based on their purpose / scenario, such as group ID = 1 for inventory checks corresponding to the first type of inventory check service, and group ID = 2 for inventory checks corresponding to the second type of inventory check service.
[0118] Optionally, both the first and second communication devices can determine one or more parameters through specific group identification information, thereby determining the first resource for receiving or transmitting the control channel or data channel. For example, both the first and second communication devices can determine an ID information through specific group identification information, and the transmission resources of the control channel or data channel can be calculated based on this ID information.
[0119] Optionally, the group identification information of the group to which the first communication device belongs can be provided by upper layers, allocated by network-side devices such as core network devices, or determined according to the device type of the first communication device. For example, the device type of the first communication device is a passive IoT device, a semi-passive IoT device, or an active IoT device, with different device types corresponding to different group identification information. Alternatively, it can be determined according to the service type supported by the first communication device. For example, the service types supported by the first communication device are inventory, positioning, and detection, with different service types corresponding to different group identification information. Or it can be determined according to filtering conditions. For example, the group ID of the device to which the product production date is less than a certain year, month, and day is 1, and the group ID of the device to which the product production date is greater than or equal to a certain year, month, and day is 2. For another example, the group ID of the device to which the device used for inventorying refrigerators is 1, and the group ID of the device to which the device used for inventorying televisions is 2.
[0120] The first communication device may belong to only one specific group of devices, or to one or more specific groups of devices.
[0121] In some embodiments of this application, the first configuration information is used to indicate the transmission resources of the control channel or data channel, and the transmission resources include time-domain resources, frequency-domain resources, or code-domain resources. The first communication device can determine the first resources used for transmitting the control channel or data channel based on the first configuration information and the first device information.
[0122] Optionally, time-domain resources may include at least one of the following:
[0123] Period; time offset; duration within a period; length of time window within a period; time domain resources for a single control channel or data channel transmission opportunity; number of control channel or data channel transmission opportunities within a period.
[0124] Optionally, frequency domain resources may include at least one of the following:
[0125] Carrier; Bandwidth Part (BWP); Physical Resource Block (PRB).
[0126] Optionally, code domain resources may include at least one of the following:
[0127] The sequence used to generate the preamble;
[0128] The sequence used for scrambling the control channel or data channel;
[0129] The sequence used in the load portion of the control channel or data channel;
[0130] The sequence used for spreading the control or data channels.
[0131] The second communication device can be configured with multiple resource sets, corresponding to different control channel search space types or data channel search space types.
[0132] In some embodiments of this application, the first configuration information may include at least one resource set, each resource set being used for transmission of control channels or data channels for at least one of the following purposes:
[0133] Paging; inventory; unicast; multicast; device termination of DT data transmission; DT-triggered data transmission, such as DO-DTT.
[0134] Optionally, the transmission of control channels or data channels for different purposes corresponds to the same resource set, so that control channels or data channels for different purposes can share the same resource set; or, the transmission of control channels or data channels for different purposes corresponds to different resource sets, so that different resource sets are used for the transmission of control channels or data channels for different purposes.
[0135] In one possible implementation, the second communication device configures a resource set for the transmission of control or data channels for various purposes. For example, this resource set can be used for the transmission of control or data channels for paging, as well as for the transmission of control or data channels supporting inventory control commands. As another example, this resource set can be used for the transmission of control or data channels for unicast requirements, such as paging a single first communication device, as well as for the transmission of control or data channels for multicast requirements, such as the transmission of control or data channels for inventorying one or more device groups. The first communication device can determine the transmission resources for the control or data channels in this resource set based on device identification information and group identification information of the device groups. As another example, this resource set can be used for the transmission of control or data channels for paging, as well as for the transmission of control commands or data for DT or DO-DTT.
[0136] As shown in Figure 7, the second communication device, such as a base station, is configured with a resource set A for paging. The first communication device, such as an environmental IoT device, can determine the first resource (a subset of resource set A) applicable to itself from resource set A based on device identification information, such as the device's unique identifier ID. For example, PO / PF can be determined according to formulas (1) and (2).
[0137] The formula for determining the PF's wireless frame number SFN is: (SFN + PF_offset) mod T = (T div N) * (Environmental IoT device unique identifier ID mod N) (1)
[0138] The formula for determining the index number i_s of PO is: i_s = floor(unique identifier ID of environmental IoT device / N) mod Ns (2)
[0139] As shown in Figure 7, AIoT device 1 determines the first paging resource A1 and attempts to receive a control channel or a data channel in the first resource A1. AIoT device 2 determines the first paging resource A2 and attempts to receive a control channel or a data channel in the first resource A2.
[0140] If an environmental IoT device belongs to a specific device group, it can determine the first resource (a subset of resource set A) applicable to that device group from resource set A based on the group identification information of the device group, such as the group unique identifier. For example, inventory can be divided into multiple inventory business types, and environmental IoT devices supporting the same inventory business type belong to the same device group. An environmental IoT device can determine its device group based on the supported inventory business type, and determine the PO / PF applicable to that device group from resource set A based on the group identification information of the device group, such as the group unique identifier. For example, the environmental IoT device unique identifier ID in formulas (1) and (2) can be replaced with the device group unique identifier ID to determine the PO / PF applicable to that device group. As shown in Figure 7, the AIoT device belonging to device group 1 determines the first resource A3 for inventory control and attempts to receive control or data channels in the first resource A3.
[0141] The PO / PF determined based on the unique identifier of the equipment group may differ from the PO / PF determined based on the unique identifier of the equipment.
[0142] Optionally, the second communication device can assign an ID or a predefined ID for inventory counting. The second communication device determines the PO / PF based on this ID and sends a paging control channel or data channel within the determined PO / PF for inventory counting. In an environment supporting inventory counting, IoT devices determine the PO / PF based on this ID, attempt to receive the paging control channel or data channel within the PO / PF, and perform the corresponding inventory counting operations.
[0143] Optionally, the second communication device assigns multiple IDs or predefined IDs for inventory checks, with different IDs corresponding to different inventory service types. If the second communication device needs to inventory a group of environmental IoT devices that support a specific inventory service type, it can determine the PO / PF based on the ID corresponding to that specific inventory service type and send a paging control channel or data channel in that PO / PF. The environmental IoT devices that support that specific inventory service type attempt to receive the paging control channel or data channel in that PO / PF and perform the corresponding inventory operation.
[0144] In another possible implementation, the second communication device is configured with multiple resource sets, each used for the transmission of control or data channels for different purposes. For example, the first resource set is used for the transmission of control or data channels for paging, while the second resource set is used for the transmission of control or data channels for inventory. Alternatively, the first resource set may be used for the transmission of control or data channels for unicast requests, while the second resource set is used for the transmission of control or data channels for multicast requests. Another example is that the first resource set may be used for the transmission of control or data channels for paging, while the second resource set may be used for the transmission of control commands or data for DT or DO-DTT. The first communication device can determine the transmission resources for the control or data channels in the first resource set based on device identification information, and determine the transmission resources for the control or data channels in the second resource set based on the group identification information of its device group.
[0145] As shown in Figures 8 and 9, the second communication device, such as a base station, is configured with a first resource set and a second resource set. The first resource set is used for paging, and the second resource set is used for inventory. An environmental IoT device can determine a first resource from the first resource set based on device identification information, such as the device's unique identifier, and attempt to receive a control channel or data channel suitable for that environmental IoT device based on the first resource. For example, AIoT device 1 determines the first resource B1 for paging, and AIoT device 2 determines the first resource B2 for paging. If an environmental IoT device supports inventory services (which can also be understood as its device group supporting inventory services), then the environmental IoT device can attempt to receive a control channel or data channel suitable for that environmental IoT device from the second resource set. In the example of Figure 8, environmental IoT devices supporting different inventory service types all use the same method to determine the transmission resources for the control channel or data channel used for inventory in the second resource set. Thus, the transmission resources for the control channel or data channel used for inventory are independent of the group identification information of the device group supporting the inventory service. The second communication device can transmit control channels or data channels for different inventory service types in different transmission resources, or it can transmit control channels or data channels for different inventory service types in the same transmission resource. For example, an inventory command for multiple device groups supporting inventory services can be carried in a single control channel or data channel. In the example of Figure 9, environmental IoT devices supporting different inventory service types determine the transmission resources corresponding to the control channel or data channel of a specific device group based on the group identification information of the device group to which they belong. The transmission resources for the control channel or data channel of device groups supporting different inventory services can be different. For example, the first resource B3 for inventory control of device group 1 is different from the first resource B4 for inventory control of device group 2. An environmental IoT device can belong to one or more device groups. In Figure 9, if an environmental IoT device belongs to both device group 1 and device group 2, it attempts to receive control channels or data channels in the transmission resources of the control channels or data channels of device group 1 and device group 2, respectively.
[0146] In one possible implementation, the second communication device configures a resource set. An environmental IoT device determines a first resource (a subset of the resource set) suitable for that environmental IoT device from this resource set based solely on device identification information. For example, this resource set is used for paging. The environmental IoT device determines the PO / PF suitable for that environmental IoT device from the resource set using device identification information, such as the device's unique identifier, and attempts to receive a paging control channel or data channel. Inventory control commands are carried through the paging control channel or data channel. For example, one PO / PF corresponds to 10 environmental IoT devices (the same PF and i_s are calculated based on the device identification information of the 10 environmental IoT devices, such as the device's unique identifier), where environmental IoT devices 5-8 support inventory service type 1, environmental IoT devices 9 and 10 support inventory service type 2, and environmental IoT devices 1-4 do not support inventory services. The second communication device, such as a base station, paging environmental IoT device 1 and triggering environmental IoT devices 5-8 to perform inventory. The base station transmits a paging record (containing the device ID of environmental IoT device 1) and inventory information (containing the inventory service ID) for environmental IoT device 1 via a control channel or data channel in this PO, as shown in Figure 10. Upon receiving the control channel or data channel, environmental IoT devices 1 and 5-8 respond to the paging. For example, environmental IoT device 1 performs a random access procedure, environmental IoT devices 5-8 perform an inventory procedure, and environmental IoT devices 9-10 do not perform any operation.
[0147] As can be seen from the above description, when the first configuration information includes at least one resource set, the first communication device can determine the first resource in each resource set according to the first device information. For example, it can determine the first resource A' in resource set A according to the device identification information of the first communication device, and determine the first resource B' in resource set B according to the group identification information of the device group to which the first communication device belongs. Alternatively, the first communication device can determine the first resource in one resource set according to the first device information. For example, it can determine the first resource C' in resource set C according to the device identification information of the first communication device, and determine the first resource C in resource set C according to the group identification information of the device group to which the first communication device belongs.
[0148] In some embodiments of this application, a control channel or data channel carries one of the following:
[0149] 1) Downlink information of a device group to which a first communication device belongs; a control channel or data channel carries downlink information for only one device group, and downlink information for only one device group is transmitted through a control channel or data channel;
[0150] 2) Downlink information of multiple device groups belonging to the first communication devices; a control channel or data channel can carry downlink information of multiple device groups, and downlink information for multiple device groups can be sent through a single control channel or data channel. For example, a control channel or data channel carries M downlink information blocks, each containing downlink information for one device group; as shown in Figure 8, IoT devices in environments supporting different inventory service types all use the same method to determine the transmission resources of the control channel or data channel used for inventory in the second resource set. The second communication device can carry inventory commands of multiple inventory service types in a single control channel or data channel, as shown in Figure 11, where a single control channel or data channel carries inventory information with inventory service IDs 1 and 5. This method helps save control channel or data channel overhead and also reduces the number of detections by the first communication device, saving power consumption of the first communication device;
[0151] 3) Downlink information for a single first communication device; a control channel or data channel contains only unicast downlink information, or only downlink information indicated for one or more individual first communication devices respectively; for example, a control channel or data channel carries N downlink information blocks, each information block containing downlink information for a first communication device, where N ≤ the number of first communication devices corresponding to the same control channel or data channel transmission resource. For example, as shown in Figure 12, the first resource set is used for paging. AIoT devices 1, 2, and 3 determine the first resource from the first resource set according to the device identification information, and receive the control channel or data channel based on the first resource. A control channel or data channel contains only unicast paging information, such as paging records of AIoT device 1 and AIoT device 3. The second resource set is used for inventory. A control channel or data channel contains only inventory information for device groups, such as inventory information carrying inventory service IDs 1 and 5.
[0152] 4) Downlink information for a single first communication device and downlink information for a device group to which one or more first communication devices belong; a control channel or data channel can contain both unicast downlink information and downlink information for a device group. For example, a control channel or data channel carries N+M downlink information blocks, where each of the N information blocks contains downlink information for a first communication device, and each of the M information blocks contains downlink information for a device group. For example, a first communication device determines a first resource based on device identification information and receives a control channel or data channel based on the first resource. The control channel or data channel received based on the first resource contains downlink information indicated for each first communication device and downlink information for the device group. This method has a certain degree of flexibility; the second communication device can determine whether to use one or more control channels or data channels to carry unicast and multicast information based on the number of first communication devices to be paged simultaneously, the number of devices to be inventoried, and the amount of data. As shown in Figure 13, assuming AIoT device 1 does not support inventory service, AIoT device 2 supports inventory service type 2, and AIoT device 3 supports inventory service types 1 & 5, the second communication device carries the unicast paging information and inventory service information of AIoT device 1 through the control channel or data channel in the PO / PF of AIoT devices 1, 2, and 3 in the first resource set. After receiving the control channel or data channel, AIoT device 1 and AIoT device 3 respond to the paging. For example, AIoT device 1 performs a random access procedure, AIoT device 3 performs the inventory process of inventory service type 1 & 5, and AIoT device 2 does not perform any operation. Compared to Figure 12, this saves the overhead of one control channel or data channel.
[0153] 5) One or more segments of downlink information; One or more segments of downlink information for one or more first communication devices or a group of devices to which one or more first communication devices belong are carried through a control channel or data channel. This segmentation of specific downlink information and its distribution across multiple control or data channels facilitates flexible control of the load on a single control or data channel. It is understood that the load on a control or data channel is determined by the load of each information block and the number of information blocks. If the load of an information block is large or the number of information blocks is large, the load on the control or data channel will be large, leading to a decrease in reception performance and preventing all first communication devices receiving this control or data channel from obtaining the correct information. To flexibly control the load on a control or data channel, specific downlink information can be segmented and carried across multiple control or data channels. Optionally, the specific downlink information is specific control information used for inventory checks.
[0154] In some embodiments of this application, the first resource may include multiple subsets of the first resource, and the first communication device receives a control channel or a data channel based on the first resource, which may include one of the following:
[0155] 1) The first communication device receives control channels or data channels based on each first resource subset; in one possible implementation, the reception of control channels or data channels on each first resource subset by the first communication device is independent of each other. For example, the first communication device determines two first resource subsets based on device identification information and group identification information, and receives control channels or data channels on these two first resource subsets respectively;
[0156] 2) The first communication device receives control channels or data channels in different first resource subsets according to a preset order. Whether to receive control channels or data channels in the current first resource subset is determined based on the control channels or data channels received in the previous resource subset. The preset order can be a chronological order, a priority order, or other predefined order, such as receiving paging control channels or data channels first, and then receiving control channels or data channels for other inventory control information. For example, the reception of control channels or data channels on different first resource subsets by the first communication device is interrelated. In one possible implementation, the first communication device determines first resource subset A based on device identification information and first resource subset B based on group identification information. The first communication device receives control channels or data channels based on first resource subset A, and determines whether to continue receiving control channels or data channels based on first resource subset B based on the received control channels or data channels.
[0157] 3) When different first resource subsets overlap, the first communication device selects one of the overlapping first resource subsets for receiving control or data channels based on priority information. In one possible implementation, the first communication device does not expect different first resource subsets to partially or completely overlap. Two first resource subsets are considered to overlap if they overlap in at least one dimension: time domain, frequency domain, and code domain. In one possible implementation, different first resource subsets may partially or completely overlap. If different first resource subsets overlap, such as when the transmission timings of control or data channels in different first resource subsets are located in different frequency domain resources, the first communication device can select one of the overlapping first resource subsets based on priority information and receive control or data channels based on the selected first resource subset. For different first resource subsets that do not overlap, the first communication device may receive control channels or data channels based on each first resource subset, or receive control channels or data channels in different first resource subsets in a preset order. Whether to receive control channels or data channels in the current first resource subset is determined based on the control channels or data channels received in the previous resource subset.
[0158] 4) When different first resource subsets overlap, the first communication device receives control channels or data channels based on each overlapping first resource subset. If different first resource subsets overlap, such as when the transmission timing of control channels or data channels in different first resource subsets is located in the same frequency domain resource or the same frequency domain resource area, the first communication device may attempt to receive control channels or data channels based on each first resource subset, such as attempting to receive control channels or data channels at each transmission timing of control channels or data channels. For different first resource subsets that do not overlap, the first communication device may receive control channels or data channels based on each first resource subset, or receive control channels or data channels in different first resource subsets according to a preset order, wherein whether to receive control channels or data channels in the current first resource subset is determined based on the control channels or data channels received in the previous resource subset.
[0159] In some embodiments of this application, priority information is determined based on at least one of the following:
[0160] 1) The priority of the first resource subset determined based on the device identification information is higher than the priority of the first resource subset determined based on the group identification information; if the first communication device determines the first resource subset A based on the device identification information of the first communication device and determines the first resource subset B based on the group identification information of the device group to which it belongs, then the priority of the first resource subset A is higher than the priority of the first resource subset B.
[0161] 2) The priority of the first resource subset determined based on the group identification information is higher than the priority of the first resource subset determined based on the device identification information; if the first communication device determines the first resource subset A based on the device identification information of the first communication device and determines the first resource subset B based on the group identification information of the device group to which it belongs, then the priority of the first resource subset B is higher than the priority of the first resource subset A.
[0162] 3) Priority of group identification information; If the first communication device belongs to multiple device groups, the priority of each group identification information can be determined according to predefined rules, and the priority information of the first resource subset can be determined according to the priority of the group identification information.
[0163] 4) Purpose of the control or data channel; determine the priority information of the first resource subset based on the purpose of the control or data channel. For example, the first resource subset corresponding to a control or data channel used for inventory has a higher priority than the first resource subset corresponding to a control or data channel used for positioning. As another example, the first resource subset corresponding to a control or data channel used for paging has a higher priority than the first resource subset corresponding to a control or data channel used for inventory. As yet another example, the first resource subset corresponding to a control or data channel used for paging has a higher priority than the first resource subset corresponding to a control or data channel used for DT / DO-DTT data transmission.
[0164] 5) Service type corresponding to the control channel or data channel; Service types corresponding to the control channel or data channel, such as inventory, detection, and positioning, determine the priority information of the first resource subset based on the service type corresponding to the control channel or data channel. For example, the priority of the first resource subset corresponding to the inventory service type is higher than the priority of the first resource subset corresponding to the detection service type. As another example, the priority of the first resource subset corresponding to the first inventory service type is higher than the priority of the first resource subset corresponding to the second inventory service type.
[0165] 6) Data type corresponding to the control channel or data channel; the priority information of the first resource subset is determined based on the data type corresponding to the control channel or data channel, such as DT type, DO-DTT type, or other data types. For example, the priority of the first resource subset corresponding to the DT type is higher than the priority of the first resource subset corresponding to the DO-DTT type.
[0166] In some embodiments of this application, the control channel may include a first control channel, and the data channel may include a first data channel. After the first communication device receives the control channel or the data channel based on the first resource, the method may further include the following steps:
[0167] The first communication device performs uplink transmission or downlink reception based on the first downlink information carried by the first control channel or the first data channel.
[0168] In this embodiment, the first communication device receives a control channel, which may include a first control channel, or a data channel, which may include a first data channel, based on a first resource. After receiving the first control channel or the first data channel, the first communication device can perform uplink transmission or downlink reception according to the first downlink information carried by the first control channel or the first data channel. Optionally, the first communication device can perform uplink transmission or downlink reception according to the indication in the first downlink information.
[0169] The first downlink information is used to indicate at least one of the following:
[0170] 1) Whether to receive data via the second control channel or the second data channel;
[0171] In one possible implementation, whether to receive a second control channel or a second data channel is indicated by one or more group identification information. For example, if the group identification information indicates that a second control channel or a second data channel for inventory is needed, the first communication device supporting the inventory service will attempt to receive the second control channel or the second data channel; the first communication device not supporting the inventory service will not need to attempt to receive the second control channel or the second data channel. As another example, the group identification information indicates whether to receive a second control channel or a second data channel for one or more inventory service types for inventory. Assuming the inventory service is divided into 8 inventory service types, if it is indicated that inventory service type 1 and inventory service type 6 need to be received, then the first communication device supporting inventory service type 1 or inventory service type 6 will attempt to receive the second control channel or the second data channel; the first communication device not supporting inventory service type 1 and inventory service type 6 will not need to attempt to receive the second control channel or the second data channel.
[0172] 2) Parameters used to receive the second control channel or the second data channel;
[0173] In one possible implementation, if the first downlink information indicates reception of a second control channel or a second data channel, then parameters for receiving the second control channel or the second data channel may also be indicated. In another possible implementation, if the first downlink information indicates parameters for receiving the second control channel or the second data channel, then it is not necessary to indicate reception of the second control channel or the second data channel.
[0174] Optionally, the parameters for receiving the second control channel or the second data channel may include first scheduling information for receiving the second control channel, or second scheduling information for receiving the second data channel.
[0175] The first scheduling information may include at least one of the following: search space information of the second control channel, format information of the second control channel, load information of the second control channel, and encoding information of the second control channel; the encoding information of the second control channel may include encoding type, encoding rate, number of repeated transmissions, aggregation level, chip rate, etc.
[0176] The second scheduling information may include at least one of the following: time domain information of the second data channel, frequency domain information of the second data channel, spatial domain information of the second data channel, code domain information of the second data channel, load information of the second data channel, purpose information of the second data channel, modulation information of the second data channel, and coding information of the second data channel.
[0177] In one possible implementation, the first downlink information indicates the scheduling information of the second data channel carrying the second downlink information, such as load information, time domain information, modulation information, coding information, etc., and the first communication device receives and demodulates the second data channel carrying the second downlink information according to the first downlink information.
[0178] In one possible implementation, the first downlink information indicates the scheduling information of the second control channel carrying the second downlink information, such as the search space information of the second control channel. The first communication device determines the monitoring location of the second control channel carrying the second downlink information based on the first downlink information and attempts to receive the second control channel. Optionally, the first communication device can receive a second data channel based on the second control channel.
[0179] One application scenario is that the second control channel or second data channel carrying the second downlink information is used to carry Device Termination (DT) services. DT service data is unicast data for one device or multicast or broadcast data for multiple devices. Another application scenario is that the second control channel or second data channel carrying the second downlink information is used to carry inventory control commands, which are inventory control commands for one or more devices.
[0180] As shown in Figure 14, the second communication device configures a first resource set for paging. AIoT device 1 determines the first paging resource within the first resource set and receives a first data channel based on that resource. If the first data channel is not received at the first resource of the first resource set, but is received at the second resource of the first resource set, and the first data channel indicates downlink reception, such as indicating second scheduling information for the second data channel, such as the time-frequency resources, load, and encoding information of the second data channel, AIoT device 1 receives the second data channel and obtains the second downlink information. In this example, the resources of the second data channel are relatively flexible; for example, they are not limited to a semi-statically configured second resource set.
[0181] If the first downlink information only indicates reception of the second control channel or the second data channel, without indicating the parameters for receiving the second control channel or the second data channel, then the parameters for the first communication device to receive the second control channel or the second data channel can be determined according to predefined rules. For example, the parameters of the second control channel carrying the second downlink information are provided by system information, and the parameters of the second data channel carrying the second downlink information are indicated by the second control channel. Alternatively, the parameters of the second data channel carrying the second downlink information are indicated by system information.
[0182] 3) Whether to perform uplink transmission;
[0183] 4) Parameters used for uplink transmission, such as time-domain information, frequency-domain information, spatial-domain information, code-domain information, payload information, purpose information, modulation information, and coding information. Uplink transmission can be based on a random access procedure or on an uplink (Mobile Original, MO)-Small Data Transmission (SDT) procedure.
[0184] The first downlink information is used to indicate at least one of the above contents, and the first communication device can perform uplink transmission or downlink reception according to the indication of the first downlink information.
[0185] In some embodiments of this application, the control channel includes a first control channel, and the data channel includes a first data channel. After the first communication device receives the control channel or the data channel based on the first resource, the method may further include one of the following:
[0186] The first communication device receives the second control channel or the second data channel based on the first downlink information carried by the first control channel or the first data channel.
[0187] The first communication device receives the second control channel or the second data channel based on the first downlink information carried by the first control channel or the first data channel, and performs uplink transmission or downlink reception based on the first downlink information and the second downlink information carried by the second control channel or the second data channel.
[0188] The first communication device performs uplink transmission based on the first downlink information carried by the first control channel or the first data channel.
[0189] In this embodiment, the first downlink information carried by the first control channel or the first data channel can indicate whether to receive the second control channel or the second data channel, or provide parameters for receiving the second control channel or the second data channel. The second communication device can transmit the second control channel or the second data channel. Based on the first downlink information, when the first communication device determines that it needs to receive the second control channel or the second data channel, it can perform downlink reception, i.e., receive the second control channel or the second data channel. After receiving the second control channel or the second data channel, it can perform further uplink transmission or downlink reception based on the second downlink information carried by the second control channel or the second data channel.
[0190] If the first communication device receives the first downlink information, but the first downlink information does not indicate the reception of the second downlink information, then the first communication device performs the corresponding downlink reception or uplink transmission according to the first downlink information.
[0191] If the first communication device receives the first downlink information, and the first downlink information indicates that the second downlink information should be received, and the first communication device correctly receives the first downlink information and the second downlink information, then the first communication device performs the corresponding downlink reception or uplink transmission according to the first downlink information and the second downlink information.
[0192] If the first communication device receives the first downlink information, but the first downlink information does not indicate the reception of the second downlink information, and the first communication device does not correctly receive the second downlink information, then the first communication device performs corresponding downlink reception or uplink transmission based on the first downlink information, or the first communication device performs a specific uplink transmission.
[0193] Optionally, for inventory counting services, if the first communication device determines, based on the first downlink information or the second downlink information, that the indicated inventory counting process is the same as an inventory counting process that the first communication device has already successfully completed, then the first communication device may not respond to the inventory counting process indicated by the first downlink information or the second downlink information. Optionally, for inventory counting services, if the first communication device is in a specific state, then the first communication device may not respond to the inventory counting process indicated by the first downlink information or the second downlink information.
[0194] In this embodiment of the application, the inventory process of the first communication device may also include the first communication device receiving an inventory preparation command or inventory control command sent by a specific communication node (e.g., a base station). The command is carried by a downlink control channel or a data channel. The first communication device sends an uplink signal to the base station in response to the control command according to the received command. For example, the first communication device performs a contention-based or contention-free access process in response to the inventory control command.
[0195] The first downlink information carried by the first control channel or the first data channel can indicate whether to perform uplink transmission or parameters for performing uplink transmission. When the first communication device determines that uplink transmission is required based on the first downlink information, it can perform uplink transmission.
[0196] The second downlink information can be carried by one or more second control channels or second data channels.
[0197] The first communication device first receives the first downlink information. Based on the content indicated by the first downlink information, it determines whether further uplink transmission or downlink reception is needed. If it is determined that uplink transmission or downlink reception is needed, then uplink transmission or downlink reception is performed. If it is determined that uplink transmission or downlink reception is not needed, then uplink transmission or downlink reception can be omitted, which helps to save equipment energy.
[0198] In some embodiments of this application, the first communication device receiving a second control channel or a second data channel may include the following steps:
[0199] The first communication device receives a second control channel or a second data channel based on the second resource;
[0200] The second resource is determined based on the first configuration information and the first device information.
[0201] In this embodiment, the first communication device can determine a second resource based on the first configuration information and the first device information, and receive data via a second control channel or a second data channel based on the second resource. The second resource and the first resource can be determined simultaneously, or they can be determined when it is determined that receiving data via the second control channel or the second data channel is required. Receiving data via the second control channel or the second data channel based on the second resource can improve the accuracy of information reception.
[0202] In some embodiments of this application, the method may further include the following steps:
[0203] The first communication device stops receiving the second control channel or the second data channel under at least one of the following circumstances:
[0204] Complete an inventory count;
[0205] Send uplink information to the target;
[0206] Upon receiving an instruction to stop receiving the second control channel or the second data channel, such as when the second communication device sends an instruction to stop receiving the second control channel or the second data channel;
[0207] Timer timed out;
[0208] Enter the target state.
[0209] In this embodiment of the application, the first communication device stops attempting to receive the second control channel or the second data channel under at least one of the above-mentioned circumstances to save device power consumption. The target uplink information can be a specific type of uplink information, which may be protocol-defined or configured by the network-side device; the target state can be a specific state, which may be protocol-defined or configured by the network-side device.
[0210] For ease of understanding, the technical solutions provided in the embodiments of this application will be described with specific examples.
[0211] Example 1: A first communication device receives a first control channel or a first data channel in a first resource set based on device identification information, and the first control channel or the first data channel indicates the existence of a second control channel or a second data channel corresponding to the device group to which the first communication device belongs. In this case, the first communication device may attempt to receive the second control channel or the second data channel in the first resource set based on the group identification information.
[0212] Example 2: A first communication device receives a first control channel or a first data channel in a first resource set based on device identification information, and the first control channel or the first data channel indicates the existence of downlink information transmission corresponding to a second resource set. In this case, the first communication device attempts to receive a second control channel or a second data channel in the second resource set. If the first control channel or the first data channel does not indicate the existence of downlink information transmission corresponding to the second resource set, the first communication device does not attempt to receive the second control channel or the second data channel in the second resource set. As shown in Figure 15, AIoT device 1 determines the first paging resource in the first resource set used for paging, and receives the first data channel based on the first resource. It does not receive the first data channel at the first resource of the first resource set, but receives it at the second resource of the first resource set, and the first data channel indicates downlink reception. AIoT device 1 then begins to attempt to receive the second data channel in the second resource set used for inventory. It does not receive the second data channel at the third resource of the second resource set, but continues to attempt to receive the second data channel at the fourth resource of the second resource set and receives it.
[0213] Example 3: A first communication device receives a first control channel or a first data channel in a first resource set based on the group identification information of its device group (the group identification information is for inventory services), and the first control channel or the first data channel does not indicate that a second control channel or a second data channel should be received, or the first control channel or the first data channel indicates that a second control channel or a second data channel should not be received. In this case, the first communication device performs the relevant operations of the inventory services based on the first control channel or the first data channel.
[0214] It should be noted that the receiving control channel or data channel in the embodiments of this application can be understood as an attempt to receive the control channel or data channel.
[0215] The technical solution provided in this application embodiment can be applied to ultra-low-end IoT applications, where the first participating communication device, i.e., the environmental IoT device, is an ultra-low complexity and ultra-low power consumption device. By configuring the information carried by a control channel or data channel, the overhead of the control channel or data channel can be reduced. Multiple first communication devices meeting the same conditions and characteristics can perform downlink reception in the same downlink reception resources. For example, based on the specific needs of inventory, the device group to which the first communication device belongs can be determined, thereby determining the transmission resources of the control channel or data channel corresponding to the device group. This allows a group of first communication devices that may be inventoried to receive inventory commands in the same resources, reducing command overhead compared to sending inventory commands separately to each first communication device. Furthermore, this application embodiment reduces the resource waste of multicast control channels or data channels caused by determining the transmission resources of control channels or data channels based on the device's unique identifier, providing network flexibility. By using a multi-level indication of downlink control information, the impact on the control channel or data channel coverage of downlink control information for other devices can be reduced. Corresponding to the above method embodiment, this application embodiment also provides an information transmission method, as shown in Figure 16, which includes the following steps:
