Abstract
Description
[0001] DESCRIPTION.
[0002] Technical sector.
[0003] The present invention generally corresponds to the technical sector of food preparation appliances, and in particular food roasters.
[0004] Description of the state of the art.
[0005] Trade has been experiencing a relocation process that has forced product suppliers to seek new ways to offer their products, thus expanding their horizons and business opportunities. Likewise, they have been forced to seek mechanisms to dispatch goods negotiated in territorial areas far from dispatch centers.
[0006] Typically, as an intermediary in shipping and transportation between bidders and buyers for the delivery of the negotiated merchandise, it is necessary to contract the services of freight forwarding companies. The cost of the service depends on three essential factors: distance, weight, and volume. These three factors are directly proportional to the associated cost. The greater the distance between the departure and arrival points of the merchandise, the higher the cost. Similarly, the heavier the package, the higher the cost. The third factor, volume, is the only one that can be efficiently managed by the bidder to reduce the associated cost.
[0007] This justifies taking measures to design and build devices that can be marketed and that can be reduced in volume, preferably by folding.
[0008] Being able to fold an artifact to reduce its volume and thus facilitate its transport is a goal in the state of the art.
[0009] Another objective is to provide a grill that incorporates a folding burner that efficiently manages combustion by regulating the intake air. Another objective is to provide a grill that, in addition to efficiently managing combustion, is structurally optimal due to its foldability.
[0010] Finally, another objective of the present invention is to propose a method for disassembling and packing a grill according to the present invention.
[0011] Various solutions for folding rotisseries are known in the state of the art, such as those listed below:
[0012] US 2018 333003 A1 (Patience) discloses a combustion apparatus, such as a rotisserie, including two concealed panels, a curved cover panel and a flat cover panel. The concealed panels are pivotally connected to each other. The folded cover panel includes a major portion and a minor portion, with an angle between the major and minor portions. The major portion is pivotally connected to one of the concealed panels. The minor portion is pivotally connected to the flat cover panel. The flat cover panel is further pivotally connected to the other concealed panel. The minor portion provides a space between the major portion and the flat cover panel to receive the first and second concealed panels when the foldable feeding apparatus is in a folded position.
[0013] Additionally, WO 2015 013287 A1 (Despain et al) teaches collapsible combustion vessels. Such combustion vessels generally include a plurality of vertically oriented panels joined by hinges. The hinges include hinge pins that can be configured to form at least part of a base supporting the container or at least part of a heating platform atop the container or both. In addition, the panels can contain one or more fuel openings that allow a user to control the placement of fuel into the container inserted from each opening to select a point within the container where the fuel will converge and combust. Moreover, US 2018 010802 A1 (Sosa et al) discloses and describes collapsible combustion vessels.Such combustion containers generally include a first pair of vertically oriented panels joined by a hinge and a second pair of vertically oriented panels joined by a hinge. The pairs of panels are hinged together to form a closed, box-shaped perimeter.
[0014] None of the cited background anticipates or suggests a folding grill configuration such as that corresponding to the present invention, nor folding stove configurations such as those taught in the present invention.
[0015] Summary of the Invention.
[0016] The invention consists of a modular grill consisting of a central folding grill body with a polygonal cross-section that internally houses an upper grill, an upper cover also with a polygonal section with the same number of vertices as the central body of the grill, a grill base with a polygonal cross-section, on which rests a folding burner with a folding polygonal cross-section that internally houses a lower grill.
[0017] The folding central body of the grill has two removable handles for handling by the user of the grill, arranged on opposite flat faces of said central body of the grill, where said handles are joined to said faces by bolts and nuts, and can be disassembled in the same way.
[0018] The foldability of the body of the folding grill is based on the relative movement of each adjacent flat face with respect to the other, that is, one flat face remains fixed in relation to the pivot system, while the adjacent one rotates around it.
[0019] The grill base has at least three support legs located in its lower part that separate it from the floor, and has as many flat faces as polygon vertices, these faces being of relative length less than the flat faces of the folding central body, in addition each flat face of the grill base is perpendicular to the also flat lower part of said grill base, forming a container with dimensions wider than high which is the grill base itself.
[0020] The dimension of the diagonal of the polygon formed by the vertices of the cross section without including the thickness of each flat face of the grill base is slightly greater than the dimension of the diagonal of the polygon formed by the vertices of the cross section including the thickness of each flat face of the central body of the folding grill, so that when said grill base is coupled with the lower portion of the central body of the folding grill, a tight fit is defined.
[0021] Additionally, the grill base has a handle on two opposite sides on each flat side, where each of said handles is removable in relation to the respective flat side by means of bolts and nuts.
[0022] The structure and shape of the top cover is similar to that of the grill base, although oriented in reverse, that is, what is the lower part for the grill base is the upper part for the top cover. There is also a difference in that it does not have handles on opposite flat faces, but rather a single handle on its upper part, which can be similarly removed using bolts and nuts.
[0023] When the top cover is attached to the central folding body, a tight fit is defined.
[0024] Two preferred embodiments of a folding stove are defined, in one, support cubes located at the bottom are used to hold a lower grill, where said folding stove has a polygonal cross-section as is the lower grill, although for the latter its diagonal including the thickness of the material is shorter than the length of the diagonal without including the thickness of each flat face of the folding stove, whereby each flat face when the folding stove is unfolded is perpendicular to the arrangement of the lower grill, in addition, when placing the lower grill on the support cubes, a fit with play is defined between said lower grill and the internal region of the folding stove. When folding this embodiment of a folding stove, through holes are provided on opposite faces in its lower part so that the cubes do not impede the folding of the assembly.
[0025] A second preferred embodiment of the folding stove uses the lower discs of the pivot system as support instead of the support cubes of the aforementioned embodiment.
[0026] In both preferred embodiments, first and second, openings or slots are provided for the admission of air during combustion, strategically arranged on flat faces of each preferred embodiment of folding burner. Additionally, one of said slots, in addition to its function of assisting in ventilation, is also arranged so that it can serve as a hook for a burner extractor device, in order to manipulate the folding burner when it is very hot for operational reasons.
[0027] Operationally, either of the two embodiments of folding burners allows the corresponding folding burner to be placed inside the folding central body resting on the lower part of the grill base, and which is enclosed when said grill base is coupled with said folding central body.
[0028] In the central folding body when it is deployed, each disc of the upper pivot system serves as a support for each vertex of the upper grill, before the upper cover is operationally coupled to said central folding body.
[0029] When said upper grille is fitted onto each support disc, a clearance fit is defined between the inner region of the folding central body and the perimeter of said upper grille.
[0030] The upper grill is used to arrange the pieces of food that are to be hung concentrically, using hooks provided for this purpose.
[0031] For both the central body of the grill and for either of the two preferred embodiments of the burner, it is envisaged to use a pivot system consisting of an elongated longitudinal support element parallel to each flat face, which has discs perpendicular to the axial axis of the elongated longitudinal support element, where in addition one of the flat faces is fixed in a fixed manner to a flat portion of the disc, while the adjacent face is not, having grooves that internally contain another portion of the disc in free movement, whereby a relative movement is generated between adjacent faces when said foldable central body collapses in one case, or in either of the two preferred embodiments of the foldable burner.
[0032] The above, as the case may be, guarantees the foldability of the central body of the folding grill as a whole, or of either of the two preferred embodiments of folding burners.
[0033] The pivot system incorporated in both the folding central body and in either of the two folding burner embodiments allows for a reduction in the volume of the grill assembly, thus fulfilling one of the objectives set forth by the invention.
[0034] The arrangement of slots or openings on the faces of either of the two preferred embodiments of the folding stove allows for efficient management of the intake air for combustion, which allows for the fulfillment of the other objective of the present invention.
[0035] Developing a method for disassembling a grill according to the present invention, so that its parts can be packaged for portability and transportation purposes is also an objective of the present invention.
[0036] Likewise, for the present invention it is an objective to develop a method to assemble a modular grill when its parts are disaggregated.
[0037] For the purposes of the present invention, a play fit and a clearance fit are considered equivalent, meaning that by connecting two components and applying a force to one of them, the other is held at rest in a certain direction. A tight fit, on the other hand, means that when two components are mated together, there is no relative movement between them when a force is applied to one of them, while a force applied in an appropriate direction is required to release one component relative to the other.

With reference to FIGS. 3 and 4 it is possible to observe the disassembly of the grill base 2, where said grill base 2 comprises; a flat lower seat 2a of polygonal shape arranged parallel to the surface, whose number of polygon sides is a multiple of four, on one face of said lower portion there are at least three support legs 3a, 3b, and 3c, arranged concentrically and equidistant from each other, where said support legs 3a, 3b, and 3c separate the floor from said lower seat 2a, and where perpendicular to said lower seat 2a there are flat faces that close between the adjacent ones at each vertex of the polygon, where said flat faces are of a relatively smaller height than their width, where said flat faces together with said lower portion 2a form a container, wherein on two of said geometrically opposite faces of said grill base 2 there are through holes 12a and 12b on a flat face, and 13a and 13b on the opposite face respectively, where in addition there are a pair of handles 4a and 4b, and where a first handle 4a has a grip and plate where there are a pair of through holes 14b and 14b that must coincide with the through holes arranged on one of the flat faces 12a and 12b, so that said first handle 4a can be joined or separated from said flat face, and on the other hand, a second handle 4b similarly has a grip and plate, where on said plate there are through holes 15a and 15b that must coincide with the through holes 13a and 13b arranged on the other flat face opposite to said first flat face of the 2. rotisserie base
[0066] Handles 4a and 4b are arranged to be able to manipulate the grill base 2 when required.
[0067] Referring to FIGS. 3 and 5, the central body 7 of the grill 1 is observed, where said central body 7 has a polygonal cross section, the number of polygon sides of which is a multiple of four, and where a pair of through holes are made on two of its opposite flat faces, where on a first flat face there are two holes 17a and 17b, which must coincide with two holes 18a and 18b arranged on the plate of a first handle 8b, which also has a grip, and where said first handle 8b can be joined or separated from said corresponding first flat face by means of corresponding bolts and nuts, on the flat face opposite to said first flat face there is similarly a pair of through holes that must coincide with a pair of holes arranged 16a and 16b in a second handle 8a, such that said second handle 8a can be joined or separated from said second corresponding flat face.
[0068] Said handles 8a and 8b are arranged so that when they are joined to the corresponding second and first flat faces, they allow a user to transport at least said central body 7
[0069] The top cover 10 can be understood by considering what is shown in FIGS. 3 and 6, where a top cover 10 is shown comprising a flat upper part of polygonal shape, where the vertices are multiples of four, and where flat faces are arranged perpendicular to said upper part that close between the adjacent ones at each vertex of the polygon, where said flat faces are of relatively smaller height than their width, in said upper part there are a pair of through holes 20a and 20b, which must coincide with a pair of through holes 19a and 19b arranged in a plate of a handle 11 and that can be joined or separated in relation to the upper part of the top cover 10 by means of bolts and nuts, and when the handle 11 is joined to said upper part it allows the manipulation of said top cover 10 by a user.
[0070] The pivot system is an essential element of the present invention, said generic pivot system can be appreciated from FIG 20, where a pivot system 300 can be seen, consisting of;an elongated longitudinal support element 301 with a vertical orientation and parallel to each flat face 304 and 305, where said pivot system 300 also has discs 302 and 303 perpendicular to the axial axis of the elongated longitudinal support element 301, which are also integral with it, where in addition one of the flat faces 304 is fixed integrally to a flat portion of the disc, while the adjacent face 305 is not, having slots that internally contain another portion of the disc in free movement, whereby a relative movement is generated between adjacent faces when said folding central body 7 collapses in one case, or, in either of the two preferred embodiments of the folding stove 5 or 50, when the polygon is closed it is possible for the structure to maintain its operational connection and may be expanded or collapsed as the case may be.;
[0071] This pivot system configuration 300 was exposed to understand by extrapolation the folding of the central folding body 7, or of any of the two preferred embodiments of folding stove 5, 50, where it must be understood that for each case the pivot system is essentially the same regardless of the numbering used in the figures, the previous numbering was used only with the understanding of explaining the pivot system as a generic system extrapolated to each case.
[0072] Continuing with FIGS. 7, 8, 9 and 10, a first preferred embodiment of burner 5 is observed, comprising: a structure formed by flat faces that form a polygonal cross section which defines a number of vertices and edges, in any case always multiples of four, of which one of said flat faces 21 is shown as an example, on each flat face there is a notch 24 in its lower central part, the purpose of which is to facilitate the transit of supply air from below to the embers, so there will be as many notches as said first preferred embodiment of burner 5 has faces.
[0073] At each corner of each flat face, there is a cube that is integrally connected, where said cube 27a, 27b, 27c, and 27d, has the purpose of supporting a lower grill 6, which coincides in number of vertices with respect to said first preferred embodiment of burner 5.
[0074] The diagonal of the lower grill 6 including the thickness of the material is shorter in length than the diagonal between the vertices that are defined between the flat faces of said first preferred embodiment of burner 5 without including the thickness of the material, that is, an internal dimension of said, whereby when inserting said lower grill 6 resting on the supports 27a, 27b, 27c, and 27d, a fit with play is evident between said lower grill 6 and the internal cavity defined in said first preferred embodiment of burner 5, on said lower grill 6 it is planned to house the solid combustible material, such as wood, coal, among others. On each flat face there are at least two through slots, a first through slot 22a, and a second through slot 22b, where said first through slots 22a, and second 22b, are horizontally oriented and their purpose is to supply air to assist combustion, additionally the first through slot 22a is located above the second through slot 22b, said first through slot 22a has a double function, on the one hand the one already declared of allowing the supply of air to be auxiliary for combustion, and on the other hand allowing that by means of a burner extractor device (not shown in the figures) the position of said first preferred embodiment of burner 5 can be changed when required.
[0075] On opposite flat faces, and not on the faces adjacent to these, there are through openings 23a, 23b, 23c, and 23d (see FIG 8 and 9) that are dimensionally larger in relation to the cubes 27d, 27c, 27a, and 27b when said first preferred embodiment of burner 5 is folded.
[0076] Looking at FIG 8, it is inferred that the hub 27d is inserted into the through opening 23a, the hub 27c is inserted into the through opening 23b, the hub 27a is inserted into the through opening 23c, and the hub 27b is inserted into the through opening 23d.
[0077] The folding of said first preferred embodiment of burner 5 is possible by implementing the pivot system explained above by FIG 20, and which is extrapolated as follows;said first preferred embodiment of burner 5 incorporates between each flat face a pivot system consisting of an elongated longitudinal support element 25 oriented vertically and parallel to each flat face, where said pivot system also has discs 26a and 26b perpendicular to the axial axis of the elongated longitudinal support element 25, also being integral with it, where in addition one of the flat faces is fixed integrally to a flat portion of each disc 26a and 26b, while the adjacent face is not, having grooves that internally contain another portion of the disc in free movement, whereby a relative movement is generated between adjacent faces when said first preferred embodiment of burner 5 is folded.;
[0078] FIG 8 shows how said first preferred embodiment of burner 5 is folded, which results in flattening said first preferred embodiment of burner 5, as can be seen in FIG 9 and 10, considerably reducing the volume of said first preferred embodiment of burner 5, the arrows in thick lines show the direction of the relative movement.
[0079] From FIGS 11, 12, 13 and 14 a second preferred embodiment of burner 50 is observed, which comprises; a structure formed by flat faces that form a polygonal cross section which defines a number of vertices and edges in any case always multiples of four, of which one of said flat faces 210 is shown by way of example, in each flat face there is a notch 240 arranged in its lower central part the purpose of which is to facilitate the transit of supply air from below to the embers, so that there will be as many notches as faces said second preferred embodiment of burner 50 has.
[0080] The folding of said second preferred embodiment of burner 50 is possible by implementing the pivot system explained above by means of FIG 20, and which is extrapolated as follows and explained from FIGS 11 , 12 and 14; said second preferred embodiment of burner 50 incorporates between each adjacent flat face a pivot system consisting of an elongated longitudinal support element 250 oriented vertically and parallel to each flat face, where said pivot system also has discs 260a and 260b perpendicular to the axial axis of the elongated longitudinal support element 250 disc, also being integral with it, where in addition one of the flat faces is fixed integrally to a flat portion of each disc 260a and 260b, while the adjacent face is not, having slots that internally contain another portion of the disc in free movement, whereby a relative movement is generated between adjacent faces when said second preferred embodiment of burner 50 is folded. In each corner of each flat face, there is a lower disk portion 261a, 261b, 261c, and 261d, which has the purpose of being a support for a lower grill 60, which coincides in number of vertices with respect to said second preferred embodiment of burner 50, whereby the disks, in particular the lower disks have a double function, on the one hand to be part of the pivot system, and on the other to serve as support for the lower grill 60.,
[0081] The diagonal of the lower grill 60 including the thickness of the material is shorter in length than the diagonal between the vertices that are defined between the flat faces of said second preferred embodiment of burner 50 without including the thickness of the material, that is, an internal dimension of said, whereby when inserting said lower grill 60 resting on the lower disk portions 261a, 261b, 261c, and 261 d, a fit with play is evident between said lower grill 60 and the internal cavity defined in said second preferred embodiment of burner 50, on said lower grill 60 it is planned to house the solid combustible material, such as wood, coal, among others.
[0082] On each flat face there are at least two through slots, a first through slot 220a, and a second through slot 220b, where said first through slot 220a, and second through slot 220b, are horizontally oriented and their purpose is to supply air to assist combustion, additionally the first through slot 220a is located above the second through slot 220b, said first through slot 220a has a double function, on the one hand the one already declared of allowing the supply of air to be auxiliary for combustion, and on the other hand to allow that by means of a burner extractor device (not shown in the figures) the position of said second preferred embodiment of burner 50 can be changed when required.
[0083] FIG 12 shows how said second preferred embodiment of burner 50 is folded, which results in flattening said second preferred embodiment of burner 50, as seen in FIG 9 and 10, considerably reducing the volume of said second preferred embodiment of burner 50, the arrows in thick lines show the direction of the relative movement.
[0084] FIGS 15, 16, 17, and 18 allow to explain the foldability of the central body 7 exposed as a preferred embodiment thereof, in this sense said central body 7 comprises a structure formed by flat faces that are taller than they are wide in dimension, and where said flat faces form a structure whose cross section is polygonal, which defines a number of vertices and edges in any case always multiples of four, of which a pair of said flat faces 100 and 200 respectively adjacent is shown as an example, taken as a non-limiting example and exposed due to the particularity of FIG. 15.
[0085] The folding of said preferred embodiment of central body 7 is possible by implementing the pivot system explained above by means of FIG 20, and which is extrapolated as follows and explained from FIG 15, 16, 17 and 18;said preferred embodiment of central body 7 incorporates between each adjacent flat face a pivot system consisting of an elongated longitudinal support element (not identified in the figures) with a vertical orientation and parallel to each flat face, where said pivot system also has discs perpendicular to the axial axis of the elongated longitudinal support element disc, also being integral with it, where in addition one of the flat faces is fixed integrally to a flat portion of each disc, while the adjacent face is not, having in this grooves that internally contain another portion of the disc in free movement, whereby a relative movement is generated between adjacent faces when said preferred embodiment of central body 7 is folded, in essence the operation is similar to that previously explained for the first and second embodiments of the stove.;
[0086] For this preferred embodiment of central body 7, it is envisaged to have at least three integral discs, perpendicular and equidistant along the corresponding elongated element, so for example in one case between the adjacent flat faces 100 and 200 there is an elongated element (not identified in the figures) with discs 102a, 102b, and 102c preferably arranged equidistantly along the length of said elongated element, and that since one of said flat faces is integrally fixed to a portion of said discs 102a, 102b, and 102c, while the adjacent flat face has grooves that internally contain in free movement another portion of the corresponding disc, whereby a relative movement is generated between adjacent faces when said preferred embodiment of central body 7 is folded.
[0087] The portion of each disc located above and inside that forms part of each vertex of the polygonal structure of the central body 7, has the function of serving as support for an upper grill 9, when said central body 7 is unfolded.
[0088] When placing the upper grill 9 (see FIG 19) inside the central body 7, resting on the portions of the disc located above and inside said central body 7, there is a fit with play.
[0089] From FIG 19 it can be seen that said upper grill 9 consists of a flat section 28 which is polygonal in its outermost boundary part and analogous to the geometric region defined by the vertices defined by the portions of the disc on which said upper grill 9 rests, although with the particularity that the diagonal, taking into account the thickness of the material, is shorter in length than the length of the diagonal of the polygon defined by the cross section of the central body 7, which precisely justifies the adjustment with play previously declared.
[0090] Vertically for the central body 7, at least one pair of discs, preferably three, must be arranged in the pivot system.
[0091] Said flat section 28 limits the interior of said upper grill 9 with a first circular ring 29 that forms a continuous protuberance, which has structural reinforcement purposes, there is a second circular ring 30 similar to the first, but of smaller diameter and concentric with each other, which are joined together by means of structural bridges 31a, 31b, 31c, and 31d, arranged equidistantly. Said second ring 30 is arranged to serve as a support for hooks (not shown in the figures) that allow hanging pieces of food that are cooked on the grill 1, hence the space between said first circular ring 29 and said second circular ring.
[0092] The various elements mentioned above of the grill 1, once separated from each other, where the burner and the central body are folded, reducing its volume, can be packed in a case provided for the purpose of facilitating its portability and transport.
