Description

Tape and taped containers

[0001] The present invention relates to a tape and a container with the tape.

[0002] Patent Document 1, for example, describes a technology relating to a cutting tape and a packaging bag with the cutting tape that can be easily opened by tearing the packaging bag linearly without resistance and can be easily attached to the packaging bag using a general bag-making machine. In the technology described in Patent Document 1, the cutting tape includes a guide portion, first and second base portions, and a seal layer. The guide portion is fused to the sealant layer of the container body via the seal layer. The first and second base portions each have a thin laminate portion laminated to the guide portion and a main portion fused to the sealant layer of the container body. The laminate portions of the first and second bases are fused to the guide portion, and the main portion protrudes toward the sealant layer of the container body, forming a convex portion with a generally trapezoidal cross section and a slope on the guide portion side. In the technology described in Patent Document 1, the guide portion and base portion of the cutting tape are formed from mutually incompatible resins, specifically, for example, a combination of low-density polyethylene and random polypropylene. Forming the tape from such a resin combination allows the guide portion to be easily peeled from the base portion when opening the bag.

[0003] JP 2009-113846 A

[0004] On the other hand, in recent years, in order to improve the recyclability of resin products, there has been a demand for mono-materials, in which many of the materials are made of a single compound, and this has also been considered for cutting tapes such as those described in Patent Document 1. However, in combinations of incompatible resins, the types of resins that are the main components are generally different, and when the base and the guide are formed using such a combination of resins, it is difficult to achieve mono-materials.

[0005] Therefore, the present invention aims to provide a tape and a container with tape that includes a base and a tear strip, in which the base and the tear strip can be peeled apart by an intermediate layer, regardless of the type of resin that is the main component of the base and the tear strip.

[14] A tape-attached container comprising a container body and a long tape joined to the container body, the tape comprising: a base formed of a first resin composition, the base including a first portion and a second portion integrally formed with the first portion and having a dimension in the thickness direction of the tape greater than that of the first portion; a tear strip formed of a second resin composition and laminated to the first portion; and an intermediate layer formed of a third resin composition having a main component different from that of the first and second resin compositions, the intermediate layer being interposed between the first portion and the tear strip, the tear strip being positioned such that the side opposite the intermediate layer faces the container body and the tear strip is joined to the container body at least at the second portion.

[15] The tape-attached container of

[14] , wherein the tear strip is joined to the container body on the side opposite the intermediate layer.

[16] The tape-attached container of

[0007] This allows the base and tear strip to be separated by the intermediate layer, regardless of the type of resin that makes up the base and tear strip. This allows for the base and tear strip to be made of a substantially mono-material material, which can be freely selected.

[0008] Fig. 1 is a plan view of a bag-shaped container according to a first embodiment of the present invention. Fig. 2 is a cross-sectional view taken along line II-II in Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a view showing a state before the tape shown in Fig. 2 is attached. Fig. 4 is a view showing a modified example of the tape shown in Fig. 3. Fig. 4 is a view showing another modified example of the tape shown in Fig. 3. Fig. 5 is a cross-sectional view of a bag-shaped container according to a second embodiment of the present invention. Fig. 6 is a view showing a state before the tape shown in Fig. 6 is attached.

[0009] Hereinafter, preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. In this specification and drawings, components having substantially the same functional configurations are designated by the same reference numerals, and redundant description will be omitted.

[0010] First Embodiment Fig. 1 is a plan view of a pouch-shaped container according to a first embodiment of the present invention. In the illustrated example, the pouch-shaped container 100 includes a film 110 forming a container body including a first surface 111A and a second surface 111B facing each other, and a tape 200 bonded to the first surface 111A of the film 110. In the pouch-shaped container 100, a storage space SP is formed between the first surface 111A and the second surface 111B. The tape 200 includes a base 210 and a tear strip 220, and a tab 140 is formed near one end of the tear strip 220. By pulling the tear strip 220 from the tab 140, the first surface 111A can be torn to form an opening communicating with the storage space SP.

[0011] The film 110 may be composed of, for example, a single-layer or multi-layer thermoplastic resin film. The thermoplastic resin may be, for example, low-density polyethylene (LDPE), linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE), or polypropylene (PP). PP may be homopolypropylene (HPP), random polypropylene (RPP), or block polypropylene (BPP). When the film 110 is composed of a multi-layer film, the surface substrate may be biaxially oriented polypropylene (OPP), biaxially oriented polyethylene terephthalate (OPET), or biaxially oriented nylon (ONy). The film 110 may also include a layer of a metal material such as aluminum or a layer of an inorganic material. Resin films containing any amount of bioplastics, such as biopolyethylene, may also be used. When recycling the tape 200 without separating it from the film 110, it is preferable to form the film 110 from a resin composition primarily composed of the same resin as the base 210 and tear strip 220 of the tape 200, from the perspective of mono-materialization.

[0012] In the embodiment of the present invention, the container body is composed of at least one film, but the specific formation method can be appropriately selected from known techniques and is not particularly limited. For example, in the illustrated example, the container body is formed by overlapping two films 110 and joining them together at the top seal portion 112, the bottom seal portion 113, and the side seal portion 114. In other examples, the container body may be formed by folding back a single film. In this case, the side seal portion is formed on only one side of the bag-like container, or a back seal portion is formed instead of the side seal portion. A gusset may be formed on the bottom of the bag-like container 100 corresponding to the bottom seal portion 113 or on the side corresponding to the side seal portion 114. In this case, an additional film may be used to form the gusset, and the container body may be composed of three or more films. Furthermore, the top seal portion 112 may not be formed when the bag-like container 100 is provided, and the top seal portion 112 may be formed later after the contents are filled.

[0013] Furthermore, in the embodiment of the present invention, a tear strip 220 is provided for opening the container body, but the configuration of the tab 140 and other components for opening the bag-like container 100 using the tear strip 220 can be appropriately selected from known techniques and is not particularly limited. For example, in the illustrated example, the tab 140 is formed in the side seal portion 114 and penetrates from the first surface 111A to the second surface 111B. Therefore, when opening the bag-like container 100, the second surface 111B is grasped along with the tear strip 220. However, for example, by forming a weakened portion (not shown), such as a notch, near the tab 140 on the second surface 111B side, the second surface 111B can be separated and the tear strip 220 can be pulled. In another example, a surrounding seal portion may be formed in which the portion where the tab is formed is not joined. Furthermore, for example, when the film is folded over at the side of the bag-like container where the tab is to be formed, the tab 140 may be formed by penetrating the first surface 111A, the tear strip 220, and the base 210 before the film is folded over, and a protective member may be bonded to cover the area where the tab 140 is formed from the inside of the container body, and then the film may be folded over to form the second surface 111B. Also, a notch or thinned portion may be formed near the end of the tear strip 220 opposite the tab 140 to define the end point of the tear.

[0014] FIG. 2 is a cross-sectional view taken along line II-II in FIG. 1 , and FIG. 3 is a diagram showing the state of the tape shown in FIG. 2 before attachment. The configuration of the tape 200 according to the first embodiment of the present invention will be further described with reference to these figures. The tape 200 is a long member. Here, "long" means a shape extending with the same cross section, and each portion of the tape 200 described below is a part included in that cross-sectional shape. Such a tape 200 can be manufactured, for example, by extrusion molding a resin material, as described below. However, because the cross-sectional shape of the tape 200 may change due to processing such as cutting, notching, or crushing before or after attachment to the container body, the tape 200 does not always have the same cross-sectional shape at all portions along its length.

[0015] In the illustrated example, the tape 200 includes a base 210, a tear strip 220, and an intermediate layer 230. The base 210 is formed from a first resin composition and includes a first portion 211 and second and third portions 212, 213 that are integrally formed with the first portion 211 and have a dimension in the thickness direction of the tape 200 greater than that of the first portion 211. The tear strip 220 is formed from a second resin composition and is laminated to the first portion 211 between the second and third portions 212, 213 of the base 210. The intermediate layer 230 is formed from a third resin composition and is interposed between the first portion 211 of the base 210 and the tear strip 220. The tape 200 is positioned such that the side of the base 210 opposite the second and third portions 212 and 213 and the tear strip 220 opposite the intermediate layer 230 faces the first side 111A of the film 110, which is the container body.

[0016] In this embodiment, an opening 214 is formed in the first portion 211 in the area overlapping the tear strip 220. After the opening is formed by tearing the first surface 111A using the tear strip 220, the opening in the first surface 111A and the opening 214 already formed in the base 210 provide communication between the outside and the storage space SP. Because the first portion 211 of the base 210 is divided into two parts with the opening 214 in between, in the illustrated example, an intermediate layer 230 connects the two parts of the first portion 211 to the tear strip 220. Instead of the opening 214, weakened portions may be formed in the first portion 211, thinning it to an extent that it can be easily torn. The weakened portions may be formed, for example, by cutting or laser processing. The intermediate layer 230 may be formed over the entire area where the first portion 211 and the tear strip 220 face each other, or may be formed over only a portion of this area.

[0017] Examples of resins that form each part of the tape 200 include low-density polyethylene (LDPE), linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE), and polypropylene (PP). Examples of PP include homopolypropylene (HPP), random polypropylene (RPP), and block polypropylene (BPP). These may be environmentally friendly bioplastics, or a mixture of a fossil fuel-derived resin and a biomass plastic such as biopolyethylene may be used. Further, examples of the resin forming each part of the tape 200 include environmentally friendly biodegradable resins such as polylactic acid (PLA), polybutylene succinate (PBS), poly(butylene adipate / terephthalate) (PBAT), polycaprolactone (PCL), poly(caprolactone / butylene succinate) (PCLBS), poly(butylene succinate / adipate) (PBSA), poly(butylene succinate / carbonate) (PEC), poly(ethylene terephthalate / succinate) (PETS), poly(tetramethylene adipate / terephthalate) (PTMAT), polyethylene succinate (PES), polyvinyl alcohol (PVA-H), polyglycolic acid (PGA), and poly(hydroxybutyrate / hydroxyhexanoate) (PHBH). These biodegradable resins may be derived from biomass. The first, second, and third resin compositions forming the base 210, tear strip 220, and intermediate layer 230, respectively, may contain, for example, one or more of the resins listed above, and may further contain known additives, such as stabilizers, antioxidants, lubricants, antistatic agents, or colorants, as needed.

[0018] When the tear strip 220 is pulled to tear the first surface 111A and form an opening in the bag-like container 100, the pulled tear strip 220 peels away from the base 210. This peeling occurs between the base 210 and the intermediate layer 230 and / or between the tear strip 220 and the intermediate layer 230. To achieve this peeling, the intermediate layer 230 is formed of a third resin composition having a different major component from the first and second resin compositions forming the base 210 and the tear strip 220. In this specification, the "major component" of a resin composition refers to the component with the highest content among the components of the resin composition. Therefore, the resin composition may contain only the major component, or may contain other components in addition to the major component. The major component of a resin composition can be identified, for example, by IR spectroscopy.

[0019] Preferably, the third resin composition forming the intermediate layer 230 is a resin composition that has low compatibility with the first and second resin compositions forming the base 210 and the tear strip 220. An example of a combination of resin compositions with low compatibility is a combination of a polyethylene-based resin composition and a polypropylene-based resin composition. More specifically, examples of combinations of polyethylene and polypropylene and other combinations include low-density polyethylene (LDPE) / random polypropylene (RPP), linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) / RPP (including m-LL in part), LDPE / homopolypropylene (HPP), LLDPE / HPP (including m-LL in part), LDPE / polystyrene (PS), LLDPE / PS (including m-LL in part), RPP / PS, HPP / PS, LDPE / polyethylene terephthalate (PET), LLDPE / PET, RPP / PET, HPP / PET, PS / PET, LDPE / nylon (Ny), LLDPE / Ny, RPP / Ny, HPP / Ny, and PS / Ny. By forming the base 210, tear strip 220 and intermediate layer 230 of tape 200 from the first and second resin compositions and the third resin composition, each of which has a combination of these resins as its main component, the tear strip 220 laminated to the base 210 via the intermediate layer 230 can be smoothly peeled off.

[0020] On the other hand, the first resin composition forming the base 210 and the second resin composition forming the tear strip 220 may be the same or different resin compositions, as long as they satisfy the requirements for peelability from the third resin composition as described above. From the perspective of monomaterialization, where most of the material is a single compound, it is preferable that the first and second resin compositions share at least the same main component, and it is even more preferable that the first and second resin compositions have the same component composition. Specifically, for example, the main component of the first and second resin compositions forming the base 210 and the tear strip 220 may be polypropylene. In this case, by using a resin such as polyethylene, which has low compatibility with polypropylene, as the main component of the third resin composition forming the intermediate layer 230, the tear strip 220 laminated to the base 210 via the intermediate layer 230, can be smoothly peeled. As another example, the main component of the first and second resin compositions may be polyethylene. In this case, the tear strip 220 can be peeled off smoothly by using a resin, such as polypropylene, as the main component of the third resin composition forming the intermediate layer 230, which has been shown to have low compatibility with polyethylene in the above example combinations.

[0021] In the illustrated example of tape 200, a sealing layer 212A is laminated on the second portion 212 of base 210, a sealing layer 213A is laminated on the third portion 213, and a sealing layer 220A is laminated on the side of tear strip 220 opposite intermediate layer 230. Tape 200 is bonded via the sealing layers 212A, 213A, and 220A to the second and third portions 212 and 213 of base 210 and to the first surface 111A of film 110, which constitutes the container body, on the side opposite intermediate layer 230 of tear strip 220. For example, if the first and second resin compositions forming base 210 and tear strip 220 can be bonded to film 110 without a sealing layer, the above-described sealing layer may not be laminated, and each portion may be bonded to first surface 111A without a sealing layer. Furthermore, it is not necessary for all of the above-mentioned portions to be bonded to the first surface 111A. For example, the tear strip 220 may not be bonded to the first surface 111A, and only the second portion 212 and the third portion 213 of the base 210 may be bonded to the first surface 111A. Alternatively, the third portion 213 may not be bonded to the first surface 111A, and only the second portion 212 may be bonded to the first surface 111A. A weakened portion may be formed in the first surface 111A along the tear strip 220 to facilitate tearing of the first surface 111A by the tear strip 220. The weakened portion may be formed, for example, by cutting or laser processing. Furthermore, the weakened portion may be formed, for example, on one or both sides of the area of the first surface 111A facing the tear strip 220, or in the area of the first surface 111A facing the tear strip 2220.

[0022] According to the first embodiment of the present invention as described above, the intermediate layer 230 allows the base 210 and the tear strip 220 to be peeled from each other regardless of the type of resin that is the main component of the base 210 and the tear strip 220. This allows for the flexible selection of resins for the base 210 and the tear strip 220, which make up the majority of the tape 200, to be achieved, for example, in a substantially mono-material state. However, since the flexible selection of resins for the base 210 and the tear strip 220 can be advantageous in cases other than those aimed at achieving a mono-material state, the present invention is not limited to cases in which the base 210 and the tear strip 220 are made of the same resin composition or have the same resin as the main component. When a mono-material structure is desired, the thickness of the intermediate layer 230 is preferably 1 / 100 to 1 / 1 of the thickness of the tear strip 220, from the viewpoint of facilitating peeling between the base 210 and the tear strip 220 and from the viewpoint of reducing the amount of resin in the intermediate layer 230, which is formed of a third resin composition different from the first and second resin compositions. The lower limit is more preferably 1 / 70 or more, even more preferably 1 / 50 or more, even more preferably 1 / 30 or more, and particularly preferably 1 / 20 or more. The upper limit is more preferably 1 / 3 or less, even more preferably 1 / 6 or less, even more preferably 1 / 12 or less, and particularly preferably 1 / 15 or less.

[0023] Figure 4 shows a modification of the tape shown in Figure 3. In the illustrated tape 200A, the intermediate layer 230 is also formed on the side of the tear strip 220, i.e., the surface facing away from the first portion 211 of the base 210. The portions of the intermediate layer 230 formed on the side of the tear strip 220 are shown as portions 230A and 230B, respectively. This allows the tear strip 220 to be smoothly peeled from the base 210, even when, for example, the distance between the second and third portions 212 and 213 of the base 210 and the tear strip 220 is narrowed or eliminated. Even in other cases, this configuration more reliably prevents molten resin from flowing around the outside of the intermediate layer 230 and directly bonding the base 210 and the tear strip 220, for example, during molding of the tape 200A or attachment to the container body.

[0024] FIG. 5 illustrates another variation of the tape shown in FIG. 3 . In the illustrated tape 200B, the intermediate layer 230 includes a first intermediate layer 231 and a second intermediate layer 232 formed on either side of the opening 214. As described above, the intermediate layer 230 may be formed only in a portion of the area where the first portion 211 of the base 210 and the tear strip 220 face each other, or may be formed in two parts, such as the first and second intermediate layers 231 and 232 in the illustrated example. In other examples, the intermediate layer may be formed in three or more parts. Forming the intermediate layer 230 to cover a larger portion of the surface of the tear strip 220, as in the examples of FIGS. 3 and 4 , can more reliably prevent direct bonding between the base 210 and the tear strip 220, thereby facilitating smoother peeling of the tear strip 220. On the other hand, forming the intermediate layer 230 partially between the base 210 and the tear strip 220, as in the example of FIG. 5, or forming it in multiple parts, can be advantageous in that it allows for a smaller proportion of material other than a single compound, for example in the case of a monomaterial.

[0025] Second Embodiment Fig. 6 is a cross-sectional view of a bag-shaped container according to a second embodiment of the present invention, and Fig. 7 is a view showing the state before the tape shown in Fig. 6 is attached. Note that the overall configuration of bag-shaped container 100A according to this embodiment is similar to that of bag-shaped container 100 described above as the first embodiment, and therefore a detailed description thereof will be omitted. For example, the modified examples of the first embodiment described with reference to Figs. 4 and 5 can also be applied to this embodiment.

[0026] The tape 300 attached to the bag-like container 100A is a long member similar to the tape 200 described above. The tape 300 includes a first base 310, a tear strip 320, an intermediate layer 330, a first engaging portion 340, a second base 350 (additional base), and a second engaging portion 360. The first base 310 is formed of a first resin composition and includes a first portion 311 and a second portion 312 integrally formed with the first portion 311 and having a dimension in the thickness direction of the tape 300 greater than that of the first portion 311. The tear strip 320 is formed of a second resin composition and is laminated to the first portion 311 of the first base 310. The intermediate layer 330 is formed of a third resin composition and is interposed between the first portion 311 of the first base 310 and the tear strip 320. The first base 310 is positioned such that the second portion 312 and the tear strip 320 on the side opposite the intermediate layer 330 face the first surface 111A of the film 110, which is the container body, and is bonded to the first surface 111A at the second portion 312. A first engagement portion 340 is formed on the first base 310 on the opposite side of the tear strip 320 from the second portion 312. A second base 350 is positioned at least partially opposite the first base 310, and a second engagement portion 360 is formed on the second base 350 and is engageable with the first engagement portion 340. The second base portion 350 is joined to the first surface 111A on the surface opposite to the second engagement portion 360.

[0027] The above-described tape 300 is a combination of a zipper tape including first and second engagement portions 340, 360 and a tear strip 320. After an opening is formed by tearing the first surface 111A using the tear strip 320, the opening in the first surface 111A and the space between the first and second base portions 310, 350 communicate with the outside and the storage space SP. The space between the first and second base portions 310, 350 can be sealed using the first and second engagement portions 340, 360, so the bag-like container 100A can be resealed even after the opening is formed using the tear strip 320. While the first engagement portion 340 is illustrated as a female engagement portion and the second engagement portion 360 as a male engagement portion, the gender roles may be reversed. The illustrated example is not limited to the shapes of the engagement portions of various known zipper tapes, such as a combination of claws, hooks, or knobs. Furthermore, although the first and second engaging portions 340, 360 are illustrated as a pair of engaging portions, there may be two or more pairs of engaging portions, and engaging portions of different shapes (e.g., male and female types and hook types) may be used in combination.

[0028] The resins forming each part of the tape 300 may be the same as those forming each part of the tape 200 in the first embodiment described above. The relationship between the first and second resin compositions forming the first base 310 and the tear strip 320 and the third resin composition forming the intermediate layer 330 may also be the same as in the first embodiment. The resin compositions forming the first engaging portion 340, the second base 350, and the second engaging portion 360 are not particularly limited, but are preferably formed from the same first resin composition as the first base 310, the same second resin composition as the tear strip 320, or a resin composition having the same main component as these resin compositions.

[0029] In the illustrated example of tape 300, a sealing layer 312A is laminated on the second portion 312 of the first base 310, and a sealing layer 320A is laminated on the side of the tear strip 320 opposite the intermediate layer 330. The tape 300 is bonded via the sealing layers 312A and 320A to the first surface 111A of the film 110 constituting the container body, on the side opposite the second portion 312 of the first base 310 and the intermediate layer 330 of the tear strip 320. A sealing layer 350A is laminated on the side of the second base 350 opposite the second engagement portion 360, and the second base 350 is bonded to the first surface 111A via the sealing layer 350A. For example, if the first and second resin compositions forming first base 310 and tear strip 320, or the resin composition forming second base 350, can be bonded to film 110 without a sealing layer, the sealing layer may be omitted and each component may be bonded to first surface 111A without a sealing layer. Also, tear strip 320 does not necessarily have to be bonded to first surface 111A.

[0030] In the second embodiment of the present invention described above, even in the case of a zipper tape, the intermediate layer 330 allows the first base 310 and the tear strip 320 to be peeled from each other, regardless of the type of resin primarily comprising the first base 310 and the tear strip 320. By freely selecting the resin constituting the majority of the tape 300, including the first engaging portion 340, the second base 350, and the second engaging portion 360, a substantially mono-material tape can be achieved. However, since the ability to freely select the resin constituting each portion of the tape 300 can be advantageous even in cases other than those aimed at mono-materialization, the present invention is not limited to cases in which the first base 310 and the tear strip 320 are made of the same resin composition or contain the same resin as the primary component. For the same reason, the resin compositions constituting the first engaging portion 340, the second base 350, and the second engaging portion 360 are not particularly limited. For the purpose of achieving a mono-material structure, the thickness of the intermediate layer 330 is preferably 1 / 100 to 1 / 1 of the thickness of the tear strip 320, from the viewpoint of facilitating peeling between the first base 310 and the tear strip 320 and from the viewpoint of reducing the amount of resin in the intermediate layer 330, which is formed of a third resin composition different from that in the other portions of the tape 300.

[0031] The second portion of the base of the tape, which is common to both the first and second embodiments, i.e., the portion that is larger in the thickness direction of the tape than the first portion where the tear strip is laminated, not only functions as a portion that joins the tape to the film of the container body as in the above example, but also as a guide for ensuring that the film of the container body is torn in a straight line when the tear strip is pulled. The third portion, which is formed in addition to the second portion in the first embodiment, also has a larger thickness and functions as a tear guide, just like the second portion. The third portion does not necessarily have to be joined to the film of the container body, and if a straight tear can be achieved by guiding the second portion alone, the third portion need not be formed. Although not shown, the second embodiment may also have a third portion with a larger thickness on the opposite side of the tear strip from the second portion. However, in this case, the third portion is not joined to the film of the container body.
