Abstract
Description
Covers and Buildings
[0001] The present disclosure relates to coverings and structures placed on the top of walls or on the edges of roofs.
[0002] In buildings, rain covers are placed on the top of outdoor walls. A type of cover known as a coping is disclosed in Patent Document 1, for example. The coping in Patent Document 1 is installed on the top of a rising wall on the roof of a building. Multiple copings are lined up on the top of the rising wall and connected to each other. A connecting member (referred to as a gap concealing member in the document) is attached to the end of each coping. Two adjacent copings are connected by engaging the connecting members of the copings. The connecting member has a flange. The flange is configured to contact the end face of the coping.
[0003] JP 2010-180599 A
[0004] However, there are cases where two copings are connected by a single connecting member. In this case, the flange of the connecting member protrudes outward from the outer ends of the two copings. Rainwater may be guided to the outward protruding part of the copings. If rainwater is guided to the outward protruding part of the coping, it will collect in this part, making it more likely for drip stains to form. This can happen not only with covers installed on rising walls, but also with covers installed on the edge of a canopy.
[0005] (1) A cover according to one aspect of the present disclosure is configured to be installed on the upper part of a rising wall of a building or on the edge of a canopy, and comprises a plurality of cover members and a connecting member connecting two of the plurality of cover members, the connecting member having a base portion with two support portions arranged within the cover members, and a flange arranged between the two cover members and protruding from the base portion, the flange being configured such that, in a plan view, the outer end of the flange is positioned inward from the outer end of the cover members.
[0006] With this configuration, the flange of the connecting member does not protrude beyond the outer end of the cover member in a plan view, which prevents rainwater flowing onto the cover member from concentrating on the outer end of the flange of the connecting member, thereby reducing rainwater stains around the connecting member.
[0007] (2) In the cover described in (1) above, the cover member has a cover upper surface portion having the outer end, a first cover lower surface portion folded back from the outer end of the cover upper surface portion and extending inward, a cover hanging portion extending downward from an inner end of the first cover lower surface portion, and a second cover lower surface portion extending inward from a lower portion of the cover hanging portion, and the support portion of the connecting member has an upper surface portion disposed below the cover upper surface portion and configured to fit along the cover upper surface portion, a first lower surface portion folded back from the outer end of the upper surface portion and extending inward to fit along the first cover lower surface portion, and a second lower surface portion extending downward from the inner end of the first lower surface portion and The connecting member has a hanging portion configured to fit along the cover hanging portion, and a second lower surface portion extending inward from the lower part of the hanging portion and extending along the second cover lower surface portion, and the flange of the connecting member has a flange upper portion extending upward from the upper surface portion, a flange outer end portion bending downward from the outer end of the flange upper portion, a first flange lower portion extending inward from the flange outer end portion, a flange hanging portion extending downward from the inner end of the first flange lower portion, and a second flange lower portion extending inward from the lower part of the flange hanging portion, and the outer end of the flange outer end portion is located inward from the outer end of the cover upper surface portion in a planar view.
[0008] With this configuration, the outer flange end does not protrude outward from the outer edge of the upper surface of the cover, which prevents rainwater flowing onto the upper surface of the cover from concentrating on the outer flange end, thereby preventing rainwater stains on the outer flange end.
[0009] (3) In the cover described in (2) above, the edge of the flange outer end is curved. With this configuration, when rainwater flows along the upper part of the flange and reaches the flange outer end, it flows along the curved flange outer end from the lower part of the first flange to the flange hanging part. This reduces the amount of rainwater that falls from the flange outer end.
[0010] (4) In the cover described in (2) or (3) above, the lower end of the flange hanging portion is located above the lower end of the cover hanging portion of the cover member. With this configuration, the flange hanging portion does not protrude downward from the lower end of the cover hanging portion. Therefore, rainwater flowing onto the cover hanging portion is prevented from concentrating on the flange hanging portion. This prevents rainwater from staining the flange hanging portion.
[0011] (5) In the cover described in any one of (2) to (4) above, the edge of the lower end of the flange hanging portion is curved. With this configuration, when rainwater flows along the flange hanging portion and reaches the lower end of the flange hanging portion, it runs down the curved lower end and from the lower end of the flange hanging portion to the lower part of the second flange. This reduces the amount of rainwater that falls from the lower end of the flange hanging portion.
[0012] (6) In the cover according to any one of (2) to (5) above, the lower surface of the first flange lower portion is flush with the lower surface of the first cover lower surface portion of the cover member. This configuration improves the design of the cover.
[0013] (7) In the cover according to any one of (2) to (6) above, the outer surface of the flange hanging portion is flush with the outer surface of the cover hanging portion of the cover member. This configuration improves the design of the cover.
[0014] (8) The cover according to any one of (1) to (7) above is disposed on the upper part of the rising wall of a building. With this configuration, the cover disposed on the upper part of the rising wall of a building can suppress raindrops near the connecting member.
[0015] (9) The cover according to any one of (1) to (7) above is disposed on an edge of the canopy main body. With this configuration, the cover disposed on the edge of the canopy main body in a building can suppress rainwater stains near the connecting member.
[0016] (10) A building according to one aspect of the present disclosure includes a building body, the rising wall provided on the building body, and the cover according to any one of (1) to (7) above provided on the rising wall. With this configuration, the cover arranged on the rising wall in the building can suppress rainwater stains near the connecting member.
[0017] (11) A building according to one aspect of the present disclosure includes a building body, a canopy body provided on the building body, and the cover according to any one of (1) to (7) above provided on an edge of the canopy body. With this configuration, the cover placed on the edge of the canopy in the building can prevent rainwater from staining the area near the connecting member.
[0018] The cover and building of the present disclosure can suppress rain stains.

[0041] [Flange] In an assembled state, the flange 30 is disposed between the two cover members 10. The flange 30 is configured to protrude upward from the base portion 21. The flange 30 is also configured such that, in a plan view, the outer end 30A of the flange 30 is located inward DA from the outer end 10A of the cover member 10. The flange 30 will be described in detail below.
[0042] 5 , the flange 30 has an upper flange portion 31, an outer flange end portion 32, a first lower flange portion 33, a downwardly-hanging flange portion 34, and a second lower flange portion 35. The flange 30 may further have an inner flange portion 36 and a third lower flange portion 37.
[0043] The flange upper portion 31 extends upward from the upper surface portion 23 of the base portion 21. The flange upper portion 31 has a first flange upper portion 31A provided on the first upper surface portion 23A and a second flange upper portion 31B provided on the second upper surface portion 23B.
[0044] As shown in Figure 7, the flange outer end 32 bends downward from the outer end of the flange upper portion 31. In an assembled state, the outer end 32A of the flange outer end 32 is located inwardly from the outer end 11C of the cover upper surface portion 11 in a plan view. The edge of the flange outer end 32 is curved in a side view. The outer end 32A of the flange outer end 32 is the portion of the edge of the flange outer end 32 that is located most outwardly from the outer end DB. The outer end 32A of the flange outer end 32 is the outer end 30A of the flange 30.
[0045] The first flange lower portion 33 extends inward DA from the flange outer end portion 32. A lower surface 33A of the first flange lower portion 33 is configured to be flush with the lower surface 12A of the first cover lower portion 12 of the cover member 10 in the assembled state.
[0046] The flange hanging portion 34 extends downward from the inner end of the first flange lower portion 33. The outer surface 34B of the flange hanging portion 34 is flush with the outer surface 13B of the cover hanging portion 13 of the cover member 10. The lower end 34A of the flange hanging portion 34 is located higher than the lower end 13A of the cover hanging portion 13 of the cover member 10 in the assembled state. The edge of the lower end 34C of the flange hanging portion 34 is curved.
[0047] The second flange lower portion 35 extends inward DA from the lower portion of the flange hanging portion 34. A portion of the second flange lower portion 35 extends below the lower surface of the second cover lower surface portion 14 of the cover member 10.
[0048] 6 , the flange inner portion 36 extends downward from the inner end of the flange upper portion 31. In the assembled state, the flange inner portion 36 is disposed inside the rising wall 5. The third flange lower portion 37 extends outward DB from the lower portion of the flange inner portion 36. In the assembled state, the third flange lower portion 37 is disposed inside the rising wall 5.
[0049] [Operation of the Present Embodiment] The operation of the cover 9 of the present embodiment will be described in comparison with the cover 49 of the reference example. FIG. 8 is a diagram of the cover 49 of the reference example when it is raining. In the cover 49 of the reference example, the flange 52 of the connecting member 51 has an outer end 52A of the flange 52 positioned outward DB from the outer end 50A of the cover member 50 in a plan view. In this case, rainwater flows in the two cover members 50 positioned on either side of the flange 52 as follows. Rainwater flowing near the flange 52 of one cover member 50 and rainwater flowing near the flange 52 of the other cover member 50 merge at the outer end 52A of the flange 52. This increases the amount of raindrops at the outer end 52A of the flange 52. If this occurs repeatedly, raindrop stains near the outer end 52A of the flange 52 gradually increase.
[0050] Fig. 9 is a perspective view of the cover 9 in this embodiment when rain is falling on it. Fig. 10 is a front view of the cover 9 when rain is falling on it. The front view means a view of the cover 9 viewed inward DA.
[0051] 9, in the cover 9 of this embodiment, in a plan view, the outer end 30A of the flange 30 is located inward DA from the outer end 10A of the cover member 10. This makes it difficult for rainwater to merge as in the reference example.
[0052] Specifically, part of the rainwater flowing near the flange 30 of one cover member 10 flows to the outer end 30A of the flange 30, while another part of the rainwater falls downward from the outer end 10A of the cover member 10. Part of the rainwater flowing near the flange 30 of the other cover member 10 flows to the outer end 30A of the flange 30, while another part of the rainwater falls downward from the outer end 10A of the cover member 10.
[0053] In this way, rainwater from the two cover members 10 sandwiching the flange 30 is prevented from joining together at the outer end 30A of the flange 30. As a result, in this embodiment, the increase in rainwater stains near the outer end 30A of the flange 30 is prevented compared to the reference example in which the outer end 30A of the flange 30 is located on the outer side DB of the outer end 10A of the cover member 10.
[0054] 10 , the lower end 34A of the flange hanging portion 34 is located above the lower end 13A of the cover hanging portion 13 of the cover member 10. This makes it difficult for rainwater to merge. Specifically, some of the rainwater flowing near the flange 30 of one cover member 10 flows to the lower end 34A of the flange hanging portion 34 of the flange 30, while another portion of the rainwater falls downward from the lower end 13A of the cover hanging portion 13 of the cover member 10. Some of the rainwater flowing near the flange 30 of the other cover member 10 flows to the lower end 34A of the flange hanging portion 34 of the flange 30, while another portion of the rainwater falls downward from the lower end 13A of the cover hanging portion 13 of the cover member 10.
[0055] In this way, rainwater from the two cover members 10 sandwiching the flange 30 is prevented from joining together at the lower end 34A of the flange hanging portion 34 of the flange 30. This prevents an increase in rainwater stains near the flange hanging portion 34 of the flange 30.
[0056] [Advantages of this embodiment] The advantages of this embodiment will be described. (1) The cover 9 includes a plurality of cover members 10 and a connecting member 20 that connects two cover members 10 together. The connecting member 20 has a base portion 21 and a flange 30 that protrudes from the base portion 21. The flange 30 is configured such that an outer end 30A of the flange 30 is located inward DA from the outer end 10A of the cover member 10 in a plan view.
[0057] According to this configuration, the flange 30 of the connecting member 20 does not protrude from the outer end 10A of the cover member 10 in a plan view. This prevents rainwater flowing onto the cover member 10 from concentrating on the outer end 30A of the flange 30 of the connecting member 20. This prevents rainwater from staining the area around the connecting member 20.
[0058] (2) The flange 30 of the connecting member 20 has a flange upper portion 31, a flange outer end portion 32 that bends downward from the outer end of the flange upper portion 31, a first flange lower portion 33, a flange hanging portion 34, and a second flange lower portion 35. The outer end 32A of the flange outer end portion 32 is located inward DA from the outer end 11C of the cover upper surface portion 11 in a plan view.
[0059] According to this configuration, the flange outer end 32 does not protrude outward DB from the outer end 11C of the cover upper surface 11. This prevents rainwater flowing onto the cover upper surface 11 from concentrating on the flange outer end 32. This prevents rainwater from staining the flange outer end 32.
[0060] (3) The edge of the flange outer end 32 is curved. With this configuration, when rainwater flowing along the flange upper portion 31 reaches the flange outer end 32, it flows down the curved flange outer end 32 from the first flange lower portion 33 to the flange hanging portion 34. This reduces the amount of rainwater that falls from the flange outer end 32.
[0061] (4) The lower end 34A of the flange hanging portion 34 is located above the lower end 13A of the cover hanging portion 13 of the cover member 10. With this configuration, the flange hanging portion 34 does not protrude downward from the lower end 13A of the cover hanging portion 13. Therefore, rainwater flowing on the cover hanging portion 13 is prevented from concentrating on the flange hanging portion 34. This prevents the flange hanging portion 34 from becoming soiled by rainwater.
[0062] (5) The edge of the lower end 34C of the flange hanging portion 34 is curved (see FIG. 7). With this configuration, when rainwater flows along the flange hanging portion 34 and reaches the lower end 34C of the flange hanging portion 34, it travels down the curved lower end 34C and from the lower end 34C of the flange hanging portion 34 to the second flange lower portion 35. This reduces the amount of rainwater that falls from the lower end 34C of the flange hanging portion 34.
[0063] (6) The lower surface 33A of the first flange lower portion 33 is flush with the lower surface 12A of the first cover lower surface portion 12 of the cover member 10 (see FIG. 7). This configuration improves the design of the cover 9.
[0064] (7) The outer surface 34B of the flange hanging portion 34 is flush with the outer surface 13B of the cover hanging portion 13 of the cover member 10 (see FIG. 7). This configuration improves the design of the cover 9.
[0065] (8) The cover 9 is disposed on the upper part of the rising wall 5 of the building 1. According to this configuration, the cover 9 disposed on the upper part of the rising wall 5 of the building 1 can suppress raindrops near the connecting member 20.
[0066] (9) The building 1 includes a building main body 2, a rising wall 5 provided on the building main body 2, and a cover 9 provided on the rising wall 5. With this configuration, the cover 9 disposed on the rising wall 5 of the building 1 can suppress rainwater stains near the connecting member 20.
[0067] <Modifications> The above-described embodiments are examples of possible forms of the building 1 and the cover 9, and are not intended to limit the forms. The building 1 and the cover 9 may take forms different from those illustrated in the above-described embodiments. Examples of such forms include forms in which part of the configuration of the embodiment is replaced, modified, or omitted, or forms in which a new configuration is added to the embodiment. Modifications of the embodiments are shown below.
[0068] The technology disclosed in the embodiment can be applied not only to the cover 9 that covers the upper part of the rising wall 5 but also to other covers 9.
