When the blade is in the extended position, the unlocking member corresponds to the position of the blade lock and is configured to interfere with the blade lock to disengage the blade from the inner frame.
[0028] One aspect of the technical problem to be solved and the technical task proposed by the present application is to overcome the defect that the existing folding knife can only realize the cutting function when the blade assembly is unfolded, and to provide a folding knife in which the blade can be extended for use in a folded storage state.
[0029] To achieve the above-mentioned purpose, the folding knife of the present application comprises:
[0030] The handle has a receiving cavity, and the rear end of the receiving cavity is open;
[0031] The cutter head assembly is pivotally mounted at the front of the handle to be folded into or unfolded from the accommodating cavity. The cutter head assembly includes a cutter holder and a blade movably configured on the cutter holder. When the cutter head assembly is folded into the accommodating cavity, the blade can be located in the accommodating cavity and stored, or extend from the accommodating cavity through the open handle for use.
[0032] The folding knife features an opening at the rear end of the accommodating chamber, allowing the blade to be stored in the chamber when the blade assembly is folded into the chamber, or to extend from the chamber through the opening for use. When holding the folding knife with one hand makes it difficult to unfold the blade assembly, the blade can be extended from the handle for cutting. For simple cuts, the blade assembly can be opened without unfolding.
[0033] Furthermore, to prevent the blade from accidentally extending out of the handle due to the opening, which could pose a safety hazard, a movable shielding member is provided at the opening, movable between a blocking position and a relief position. When the movable shielding member is in the blocking position, it prevents the blade from extending out of the accommodating cavity through the opening and into the handle. When the movable shielding member is in the relief position, it clears the way for the blade to extend out of the accommodating cavity through the opening and into the handle. Thus, the position of the movable shielding member can be changed to block the blade or clear the way for the blade to extend out of the accommodating cavity through the opening and into the handle.
[0034] Furthermore, a matching first positioning structure is provided on the movable shielding member and the handle, and the movable shielding member is positioned by the first positioning structure when it is in the shielding position and the avoidance position, so as to prevent the movable shielding member from accidentally changing position.
[0035] Specifically, the first positioning structure includes a positioning pit and a positioning protrusion which are separately provided on the movable shielding member and the handle, and the positioning protrusion is located in the positioning pit to achieve positioning.
[0036] In particular, for ease of operation, the movable shield is assembled to the handle via an axis of rotation so that the movable shield can be manually moved to change position.
[0037] Furthermore, the blade holder includes an outer frame, an inner frame, and a control member. The inner frame is slidably arranged in the outer frame. The control member is connected to the inner frame and exposed outside the outer frame so as to be controlled to move the inner frame. The blade is mounted on the inner frame. Accordingly, the inner frame can be moved as needed by controlling the control member.
[0038] Furthermore, the outer frame has a plurality of positioning slots distributed in the front-to-back direction, and the control member is positioned in the positioning slot to fix the position of the blade. Accordingly, the blade can be positioned in different positions to meet cutting requirements.
[0039] In particular, a first elastic element is placed between the inner frame and the operating member, and the elastic force of the first elastic element forces the operating member to be positioned in the corresponding positioning groove, thereby preventing the blade from being misplaced during cutting.
[0040] In order to facilitate the replacement of blades, the inner frame is equipped with a lock, and the blade is locked on the inner frame by the lock. The outer frame is equipped with an unlocking member, and when the inner frame moves forward to the point where the lock corresponds to the unlocking member, the unlocking member unlocks the lock.
[0041] In order to reliably lock the blade on the inner frame, the lock is swingably assembled on the inner frame, and a magnet is configured on the inner frame. The blade and the lock are adsorbed by the magnet and abut against the inner frame. The unlocking member is configured to be unlocked by pressing sideways.
[0042] By providing an opening at the rear end of the accommodating chamber, this invention allows the blade to be stored in the accommodating chamber when the blade assembly is folded into the chamber, or to extend from the accommodating chamber through the opening for use. When holding the folding knife with one hand makes it difficult to unfold the blade assembly, the blade can be extended from the handle for cutting. For simple cuts, the blade assembly can be opened without unfolding, thereby increasing the flexibility of the folding knife.
[0043] Another aspect of the present application is to solve the technical problem and propose a technical task, which is to overcome the defects of the existing folding knife in that the knife is difficult to operate by rotating it when it is used, and the exposed blade rotates accordingly, causing safety hazards. A folding knife is provided, the handle of which can be extended for use when the knife is in a folded state, thereby giving the folding knife more ways of use and convenience, and by selecting a suitable adaptation method to avoid the rotation of the exposed blade, safety hazards are reduced.
[0044] To achieve the above-mentioned purpose, the folding knife of the present application includes:
[0045] a handle having a receiving space extending between a first end and a second end;
[0046] a moving member positioned within the handle and configured to move between a first end and a second end;
[0047] a second positioning structure configured on the handle and the moving member, wherein the second positioning structure positions the moving member on the handle at least at a first position and a second position during a moving stroke of the moving member;
[0048] The knife is pivotally connected to the movable member to be folded into the storage space from the unfolded state or unfolded out of the storage space from the folded state, wherein when the knife is in the folded state, the movable member is moved from the first end to the second end and positioned in the second position for extending the knife from the second end to the storage space for use, or the movable member is moved from the second end to the first end and positioned in the first position for retracting the extended knife from the second end to the storage space.
[0049] Accordingly, when using this folding knife, one way to use it is to rotate it to extend the knife from the handle for use or fold it back into the handle. A second way to use it is to move the folded knife on the handle to extend it out of the handle for use or retract it back into the storage space. This provides the folding knife with more ways to use it. In the second way of use, the knife is moved to extend and retract the handle, which changes the rotation required in the first way and increases operational convenience. Furthermore, the extended length of the knife changes from short to long when it extends from the handle, and the orientation of the blade remains fixed, effectively reducing safety hazards.
[0050] Furthermore, the movable member includes a first sidewall and a second sidewall. The first and second sidewalls are connected by a connecting portion at their edges, forming a clip groove between the first and second sidewalls. The clip groove serves as part of the storage space, and its orientation aligns with the storage space. The knife is pivotally connected between the first and second sidewalls. This increases the strength of the movable member and the reliability of its assembly with the handle. In particular, the clip groove serves as part of the storage space, simplifying the product structure.
[0051] Furthermore, the knife is connected to the moving member via a pivot, and the pivot is shielded by the handle, so as to increase the regularity of the handle and ensure that the moving member moves smoothly without being obstructed by the handle.
[0052] Furthermore, the inner wall of the handle is provided with a track, and the moving member cooperates with the track to achieve movement, thereby ensuring the flexible movement of the moving member and ensuring that the moving member does not shake as much as possible.
[0053] Furthermore, the handle is provided with an elongated hole extending between the first and second ends, and first and second positioning grooves distributed along the elongated hole. The movable member is provided with a manipulation member, which is exposed through the elongated hole to the handle so that the manipulation member can be operated to move the movable member. The second positioning structure includes the first and second positioning grooves and the manipulation member. When the manipulation member is positioned in the first positioning groove, the movable member is positioned in the first position, and when the manipulation member is positioned in the second positioning groove, the movable member is positioned in the second position. Accordingly, the movable member can be moved by operating the manipulation member by the hand holding the handle, which is convenient for operation.
[0054] Furthermore, the knife is provided with a locking groove, and an axially movable locking lever is mounted on the movable member. The locking lever has a handle exposed through the long hole for pressing. The locking lever is positioned in the locking groove by elastic force to lock the knife to prevent the knife from rotating. Pressing the locking lever overcomes the elastic force and unlocks the knife to allow the knife to rotate. Accordingly, the locking lever can be used to lock the knife in a desired state, such as a folded state, an unfolded state, or a semi-expanded state between the folded and unfolded states.
[0055] Furthermore, the movable member is provided with an elastic portion that provides the elastic force, the inner end of the locking rod abuts against the elastic portion, and the inner wall of the handle is provided with an escape groove for the elastic portion to deform. This simplifies the product structure, saves components, reduces component assembly, and ensures the reliability of the elastic force.
[0056] Furthermore, a locking lever axially extends through the movable member. A blind hole is provided in the inner wall of the handle. Pressing the locking lever overcomes the spring force and unlocks the knife, allowing the knife to rotate. The inner end of the locking lever then extends into the blind hole, preventing the movable member from moving. This prevents the movable member from moving during knife rotation, potentially creating a safety hazard. This structure allows the knife to only perform one of the two actions, preventing both from occurring simultaneously and thus preventing misoperation.
[0057] Furthermore, the position of the blind hole is configured so that the inner end of the locking rod points to the blind hole when the movable member is positioned at the first position. Accordingly, the knife is only allowed to rotate at a specific position, and the knife is prevented from rotating at any position, thereby avoiding misoperation.
[0058] Furthermore, when the knife is folded into the storage space, it is locked by the locking lever to prohibit the knife from rotating around the pivot, thereby preventing the knife from accidentally unfolding.
[0059] Furthermore, a fourth elastic element acts on the knife, which applies an elastic force to the knife to unfold the knife from the storage space when the locking lever unlocks the knife. Accordingly, when the knife is to be unfolded for use, the locking lever unlocks the folded knife, causing the knife to automatically unfold due to the elastic force of the fourth elastic element.
[0060] Further, the knife has a shoulder, and when the knife is in the expanded state, the shoulder is blocked by the handle to prevent the movable member from moving from the first position to the second position. Accordingly, when the knife is expanded, the movable member is prohibited from moving with the knife to avoid misoperation.
[0061] Furthermore, the second end of the handle is provided with an inlet and outlet. When the movable member moves from the first end to the second end and is positioned in the second position, the foldable knife extends from the inlet and outlet into the storage space for use and is restrained from unfolding by the second end of the handle. Accordingly, when the knife extends from the inlet and outlet into the storage space, the foldable knife is prohibited from rotating, thereby preventing erroneous operation.
[0062] Furthermore, the second positioning structure positions the movable member on the handle at a third position during the movable member's travel, the third position being between the first and second positions. When the movable member is positioned on the handle in the third position, the folded knife is prevented from unfolding by the second end, or / and the length of the knife extending from the second end is shorter than the length of the knife extending from the second end when the movable member is positioned on the handle in the second position. Thus, the knife is given more positions as the movable member moves to meet demand.
[0063] Furthermore, the knife is configured to allow the movable member to rotate only when the movable member is positioned at the first position on the handle and to allow the movable member to move between the first end and the second end only when the knife is folded from the first end into the storage space.
[0064] Furthermore, when the knife is in the unfolded state, the length of the knife outside the handle can be adjusted by moving the movable member between the first end and the second end, thereby giving the folding knife more ways to use.
[0065] Furthermore, the rotation of the knife and the movement of the moving member are mutually exclusive.
[0066] The present application configures a movable member within the handle, pivotally connecting the knife to the movable member so that the knife can be folded from an unfolded state into a storage space or unfolded from a folded state out of the storage space, and configures a second positioning structure to position the movable member on the handle at least in a first position and a second position during the movement of the movable member. Accordingly, when using the folding knife, one way of using it is to rotate the knife from the handle for use or fold the unfolded knife into the handle for storage, and a second way of using it is to move the folded knife on the handle so that the knife extends out of the handle for use or retracts the extended knife into the storage space. Thus, the folding knife is given more ways of using. In the second way of using, the knife moves while extending and retracting the handle, which changes the rotation of the first way of using and increases the convenience of operation. Moreover, when the knife extends out of the handle, the length of the extension changes from short to long, and the direction of the blade is fixed, which can effectively reduce safety hazards. [0118] In one embodiment, as shown in FIG. 1-6 and FIG. 9 - 12 , the folding knife includes a handle 100 and a blade head assembly, which is also referred to as a knife 300 .
[0119] Referring to Figure 1 , when the knife 300 is in the unfolded state, the direction in which the blade 320 points is forward. The direction from the first handle 110 toward the second handle 120 is rightward. The direction from the top of the page toward the bottom of the page is downward. The direction indicated by the forward arrow in Figure 1 is the longitudinal direction of the grip portion and the mounting bracket.
[0120] The handle 100 serves as a grip and has a front end and a rear end along its length. The handle 100 is assembled from a first handle body 110 and a second handle body 120. The first handle body 110 and the second handle body 120 are spaced apart and define a receiving cavity 103 therebetween. The receiving cavity 103 is also referred to as a receiving cavity. The rear end of the receiving cavity is provided with an opening 104. A movable shield 105, also referred to as a shielding member, is disposed at the opening 104. The movable shield 105 is rotatably mounted to the first handle body 110 and the second handle body 120 via an axis 108, enabling the movable shield 105 to rotate between a blocking position and a circumventing position. When the movable shield 105 is in the blocking position, as shown in Figures 11-12, it blocks the opening 104, preventing the blade 320 from extending from the accommodating cavity through the opening 104 and out of the handle 100. When the movable shield 105 is in the avoidance position, as shown in Figures 9-10, it clears the way for the blade 320 to extend from the accommodating cavity through the opening 104 and out of the handle 100. The movable shield 105 and the handle 100 are equipped with matching second positioning structures. The second positioning structure includes a positioning pit 106 and a positioning protrusion 107, which are separately provided on the movable shield and the handle. When the movable shield 105 is in the blocking position or the avoidance position, the positioning protrusion 107 is positioned in the positioning pit 106, thereby securing the movable shield 105.
[0121] In addition, a stop rod is provided on the handle 100, which serves as a locking rod 600. The stop rod abuts against the tail of the tool holder 310 to lock the tool head assembly in a folded state or an unfolded state, thereby preventing the tool holder 310 from accidentally turning over.
[0122] The blade head assembly is assembled at the front of the handle 100 via a pivot 500 so as to be folded into or unfolded from the accommodating cavity. The blade head assembly includes a blade holder 310 and a blade 320 movably arranged on the blade holder 310. The blade holder 310 includes an outer frame 311, an inner frame 312, and a control member 313. The outer frame 311 serves as a mounting bracket, the blade 320 and the outer frame 311 serve as operating parts, and the inner frame 312 and the control member 313 serve as a translation mechanism. The inner frame 312 is slidably arranged in the outer frame 311, the control member 313 is connected to the inner frame 312 and exposed outside the outer frame 311 so as to be controlled to move the inner frame 312, and the blade 320 is assembled to the inner frame 312. Specifically, the inner frame 312 has a slot 3122, and the control member 313 has an insertion rod 3131. The insertion rod 3131 is inserted into the slot 3122 to achieve the connection between the control member 313 and the inner frame 312. To facilitate assembly, the outer frame 311 includes a first frame body 3111 and a second frame body 3112, which are fastened together. The space between the first frame body 3111 and the second frame body 3112 forms the installation space for the inner frame 312. The front ends of the first frame body 3111 and the second frame body 3112 are provided with slits to allow the blade 320 to extend from or retract into the outer frame 311. The spines of the first frame body 3111 and the second frame body 3112 have slits 3113 extending in the front-to-back direction. The second frame body 3112 has a plurality of positioning slots 3114 distributed along the front-to-back direction of the slits 3113. The shoulder 3132 of the control member 313 is located within the positioning slots 3114 to position the inner frame 312 and secure the position of the blade 320. A first elastic member 314 is disposed between the inner frame 312 and the operating member 313. The elastic force of the first elastic member 314 forces the shoulder 3132 of the operating member 313 to locate in the corresponding positioning slot 3114. When the operating member 313 is located in the frontmost positioning slot 3114, the blade 320 is in the extended position. When the operating member 313 is located in the rearmost positioning slot 3114, the blade 320 is in the retracted position.
[0123] The blade holder 310 has a fixed end and a free end. The fixed end of the blade holder 310 is set on the handle 100, and the free end of the blade holder 310 can rotate around the handle 100 to switch between an expanded position and a folded position. When the blade holder 310 is in the expanded position, the free end of the blade holder 310 is arranged forward relative to the handle 100. When the blade holder 310 is in the folded position, the free end of the blade holder 310 is located in the accommodating cavity.
[0124] When the blade holder 310 is in the folded position, the translation mechanism can move along the length direction of the handle 100, thereby driving the blade 320 to move relative to the handle 100, so that the blade 320 can switch between an extended position and a retracted position, wherein, when the blade 320 is in the extended position, at least a portion of the blade 320 extends from the rear end of the accommodating cavity, and when the blade 320 is in the retracted position, the blade 320 is located in the accommodating cavity.
[0125] The folding knife has a first working state, a second working state and a storage state. When the folding knife is in the first working state, the knife holder 310 is in an extended position, and a portion of the blade 320 is exposed from the knife holder 310; when the folding knife is in the second working state, the knife holder 310 is in a folded position, the blade 320 is in an extended position, and a portion of the blade 320 passes through the opening 104; when the folding knife is in the storage state, the knife holder 310 is in a folded position, and the blade 320 is in a retracted position.
[0126] The inner frame 312 is equipped with a lock, which serves as a blade lock 315. The lock has a tongue 3151 and a force-bearing portion 3152. The back of the blade 320 has a notch 321. The blade 320 rests against the left side of the inner frame 312, and its notch 321 is caught by the tongue 3151, thereby being locked to the inner frame 312 by the lock. The outer frame 311 is equipped with an unlocking member 316. When the inner frame 312 moves forward until the lock corresponds to the unlocking member 316, the unlocking member 316 is pressed laterally to the right. The unlocking member 316 contacts the force-bearing portion 3152 of the lock, causing the tongue 3151 to move rightward, away from the notch 321, thereby unlocking the lock 315. At this point, the blade 320 can be removed from or installed in the blade holder 310.
[0127] The lock is swingably mounted on the inner frame 312, and a magnet 3121 is disposed on the inner frame 312. The blade 320 and the lock are attracted by the magnet 3121 and abut against the inner frame 312. This prevents the blade 320 from shaking and ensures that the lock reliably locks the blade 320.
[0128] In view of the above structure, when the cutter head assembly is folded into the accommodating cavity, the blade 320 can be located in the accommodating cavity and stored, or the blade 320 can extend from the accommodating cavity through the opening 104 for use.
[0129] In one embodiment, as shown in Figures 13-29, the folding knife includes a handle 100, a moving member 200, a first positioning structure and a knife 300. The handle 100 serves as a grip.
[0130] In this embodiment, the knife 300 is an assembly mechanism, also known as an operating unit, which includes an assembled knife holder 310 and a detachable blade 320. The knife holder 310 is also known as a mounting bracket. The knife holder 310 constituting the knife 300 is connected to the movable member 200 via a pivot 500. In the knife 300 of this assembled structure, the blade 320 is locked to the knife holder 310 by a blade lock 315. When the blade 320 is to be replaced, the blade lock 315 is pressed to unlock the blade 300, and the blade 320 can be pulled out and a new blade 320 can be installed. In other embodiments, the disassembly and assembly structure of the blade may not be limited to the structure shown in the figure. Moreover, in other embodiments, the knife may be an integral structure, that is, the knife is embodied as a single component, including an integrated mounting bracket and a blade.
[0131] The handle 100 consists of a first handle body 110 and a second handle body 120 connected together by fasteners. A storage space 103, also known as a storage cavity, is defined between the first and second handle bodies 110, 120. Storage space 103 extends between a first end 101 and a second end 102. The first end 101 and the second end 102 are opposite ends of the handle 100. The first end 101 is also known as the front end, and the second end 102 is also known as the rear end. The first end 101 of the handle 100 is the end that faces the same direction as the blade 320 when the knife 300 is in the unfolded state. The second end 102 of the handle 100 is the end that faces a different direction from the blade 320 when the knife 300 is in the unfolded state. The length of the handle 100 is defined between the first and second ends 101, 102. The inner walls of the first and second handle bodies 110, 120 are provided with a sliding groove that serves as a track 115. The first handle body 110 is provided with an elongated hole 111 extending between the first end 101 and the second end 102, and a first positioning slot 112, a second positioning slot 113, and a third positioning slot 114 distributed along the elongated hole 111. The first positioning slot 112, the third positioning slot 114, and the second positioning slot 113 are distributed sequentially from the first end 110 to the second end 120, with the third position being between the first position and the second position. The second end 120 of the handle 100 is provided with an inlet and outlet opening 104, which is sealed on all sides.
[0132] The movable member 200 is located within the handle 100 and is configured to move between the first end 101 and the second end 102. Specifically, the movable member 200 includes a first sidewall 201 and a second sidewall 202. The first sidewall 201 and the second sidewall 202 are connected by a connecting portion 203 at their edges, and a clamping groove 204 is formed between the first sidewall 201 and the second sidewall 202. The orientation of the clamping groove 204 is consistent with the orientation of the storage space 103. The first sidewall 201 is located in the sliding groove of the first handle body 110, and the second sidewall 202 is located in the sliding groove of the second handle body 120. The clamping groove 204 serves as a part of the storage space 103.
[0133] The movable member 200 is equipped with a control member 313. The movable member 200 and the control member 313 form a translation mechanism. The control member 313 exposes a handle through the elongated hole 111, which allows the control member 313 to be operated to move the movable member 200. The control member is shown as a push button. Furthermore, the push button is provided with a protrusion 301. The push button is acted upon by the elastic force of the third elastic element 302, causing the protrusion 301 to engage with the first positioning groove 112, the second positioning groove 113, or the third positioning groove 114. Pressing the control member 313 to remove the protrusion 301 from its positioning groove pushes the control member 313 along the elongated hole 111, and the movable member 200 is moved by the control member 313. When the movable member 200 moves to the corresponding positioning groove, the control member 313 is released. The control member 313 then uses the elastic force of the third elastic element 302 to cause the protrusion 301 to engage with the corresponding positioning groove, thereby positioning the movable member.
[0134] The first positioning structure is capable of positioning the blade 320 in an extended position and a retracted position. The first positioning structure is configured on the handle 100 and the movable member 200. The first positioning structure positions the movable member 200 on the handle 100 in a first position, a second position, and a third position during the movable member 200's moving stroke. Specifically, the first positioning structure includes a first positioning slot 112, a second positioning slot 113, a third positioning slot 114, and an operating member 313. When the operating member 313 is positioned in the first positioning slot 112, the movable member 200 is positioned in the first position. When the operating member 313 is positioned in the second positioning slot 113, the movable member 200 is positioned in the second position. When the operating member 313 is positioned in the third positioning slot 114, the movable member 200 is positioned in the third position. When the blade holder 310 is in the folded position, the first position is the retracted position, and the second position is the extended position.
[0135] The knife 300 is connected to the first side wall 201 and the second side wall 202 of the movable member 200 via a pivot 500. The pivot 500 is shielded by the handle 100. Accordingly, the knife 300 can be folded into the storage space 103 from the expanded state shown in Figures 13-18 or unfolded out of the storage space 103 from the folded state shown in Figures 19-23. In the folded state, the knife 300 can be moved from the first end 101 to the second end 102 by the movable member 200 and positioned in the second position for extending the knife 300 from the second end 102 into the storage space 103 for use as shown in Figures 24-28. Alternatively, the movable member 200 can be moved from the second end 102 to the first end 101 and positioned in the first position for retracting the extended knife 300 from the second end 102 into the storage space 103 as shown in Figures 19-23.
[0136] The blade holder 310 has a fixed end and a free end. The fixed end of the blade holder 310 is set on the handle 100. The blade holder 310 is connected to the movable member 200. The blade 320 is mounted on the blade holder 310 and a portion of the blade 320 is exposed from the blade holder 310. The free end of the blade holder 310 can rotate around the handle 100 and further rotate around the movable member 200 to switch between an expanded position and a folded position. When the blade holder 310 is in the expanded position, the free end of the blade holder 310 is arranged forward relative to the handle 100. When the blade holder 310 is in the folded position, the free end of the blade holder 310 is located in the storage space 103 and further located in the clamping groove 204.
[0137] When the blade holder 310 is in the folded position, the movable member 200 can move along the length direction of the handle 100 in the storage space 103 to drive the blade holder 310 to move relative to the handle 100, thereby enabling the blade 320 to move relative to the handle 100, so that the blade 320 can switch between an extended position and a retracted position, wherein, when the blade 320 is in the extended position, at least a portion of the blade 320 extends from the rear end of the storage space 103, and when the blade 320 is in the retracted position, the blade 320 is located in the storage space 103.
[0138] The folding knife has a first working state, a second working state and a storage state. When the folding knife is in the first working state, the knife holder 310 is in the extended position; when the folding knife is in the second working state, the knife holder 310 is in the folded position, the blade 320 is in the extended position, and a portion of the blade 320 passes through the inlet and outlet; when the folding knife is in the storage state, the knife holder 310 is in the folded position, and the blade 320 is in the retracted position.
[0139] Furthermore, the tool holder 310 of the knife 300 is provided with a locking groove 303. The movable member 200 is equipped with an axially movable locking rod 600, which includes a thin section 601 and a thick section 602. The locking rod 600 can be switched between a position prohibiting rotation and a position allowing rotation. The locking rod 600 is exposed from the handle 100 through the elongated hole 111 for pressing. The locking rod 600 uses elastic force to position the thick section 602 in the locking groove 303. The locking rod 600 engages with the locking groove 303, locking the knife 300 to prevent rotation. Pressing the locking rod 600 overcomes the elastic force, causing the thick section 602 to leave the locking groove 303 and the thin section 601 to correspond with the locking groove 303. The locking rod 600 disengages from the locking groove 303, unlocking the knife 300 to allow rotation. Furthermore, the movable member 200 is provided with an elastic portion 205 to provide elastic force, and the inner end of the locking lever 600 abuts against the elastic portion 205. The elastic portion 205 is punched out of the second side wall 202. As shown, there are three locking grooves 303. When locked, the locking lever 600 and the three locking grooves 303 respectively position and lock the knife 300 in the expanded state shown in Figures 13-18, the folded state shown in Figures 19-23, and a semi-expanded state between the expanded and folded states. The locking slot 303 includes a first locking slot 3031, a second locking slot 3032, and a third locking slot 3033. When the blade holder 310 is in the extended position, the locking lever 600 engages with the first locking slot 3031. When the blade holder 310 is in the folded position, the locking lever 600 engages with the second locking slot 3032. When the blade holder 310 is in a semi-extended position between the extended and folded positions, the locking lever 600 engages with the third locking slot 3033. The knife 300 is locked by the locking lever 600 to prevent the knife 300 from rotating about the pivot 500.
[0140] In this embodiment, to prevent malfunction, the knife 300 further includes a shoulder 304. When the knife 300 is in the unfolded state, the shoulder 304 is blocked by the handle 100, preventing the movable member 200 from moving from the first position to the second position. When the movable member 200 moves from the first end 101 to the second end 102 and is positioned in the second position, the folded knife 300 extends from the access opening to the storage space 103 for use, while the second end 102 of the handle 100 restricts its unfolding. In other embodiments, the shoulder 304 is eliminated, leaving the knife 300 unobstructed in the unfolded state, allowing the movable member 200 and the knife 300 to move between the first and second positions, thereby adjusting the length of the knife 300 outside the handle 100.
[0141] Furthermore, in view of the presence of the third positioning groove 114, the first positioning structure positions the movable member 200 on the handle 100 at the third position during the moving stroke of the movable member 200. When the movable member 200 is positioned on the handle 100 at the third position, the folded knife 300 is prevented from unfolding by the second end 102 or / and the length of the knife 300 extending from the second end 102 is shorter than the length of the folded knife 300 extending from the second end 102 when the movable member 200 is positioned on the handle 100 at the second position.
[0142] Furthermore, when the movable member 200 is positioned on the handle 100 in the first position, the elastic portion 205 corresponds to the escape groove 121, leaving a large deformation space for the elastic portion 205, providing sufficient space for the axial movement of the locking lever 600, allowing the locking lever 600 to unlock the knife 300. When the movable member 300 moves toward the second end 102, the elastic portion 205 becomes misaligned with the escape groove 121, limiting the deformation space of the elastic portion 205 and insufficient space for the axial movement of the locking lever 600, preventing the locking lever 600 from unlocking the knife 300. Therefore, the knife 300 is only allowed to rotate and fold or unfold when the movable member 200 is positioned on the handle 100 in the first position.
[0143] Furthermore, due to the presence of the shoulder 304, when the knife 300 is in the unfolded state, the shoulder 304 is blocked by the handle 100, thereby preventing the movable member 200 from moving from the first position to the second position. When the knife 300 is folded from the first end 101 into the storage space 103, the shoulder 304 is free from the obstruction, allowing the movable member 200 to move between the first end 101 and the second end 102.
[0144] The folding knife structured as described above can be placed in three positions: unfolded, semi-folded, and folded by operating the locking lever 600. By operating the locking lever 600, the length of the knife 300 outside the handle 100 can be adjusted when the knife 300 is unfolded, and the length of the knife 300 extending outside the handle 100 can be adjusted when the knife 300 is folded.
[0145] In one embodiment, as shown in FIG30 , the folding knife of this embodiment differs from the embodiment shown in FIG13-29 in that it incorporates an automatic deployment feature. A fourth elastic element 700 acts on the knife 300, exerting a deployment force on the knife 300 to deploy the knife 300 from the storage space 103 when the locking lever 600 unlocks the knife 300. The remaining structure of this embodiment is identical to that of the embodiment shown in FIG13-29 and is not further described.
[0146] In one embodiment, as shown in Figures 31-36, this embodiment of the folding knife differs from the embodiment shown in Figures 13-29 in that it incorporates a feature to prevent misoperation. Specifically, a locking rod 600 is axially inserted through the movable member 200, and a blind hole 122 is provided on the inner wall of the second handle 120. The locking rod 600 comprises a thin section 601 and a thick section 602. The diameter of the thick section 602 is larger than that of the thin section 601. The thin section 601 is cylindrical, while the thick section 602 is cylindrical, frustum, or a combination of a cylinder and a frustum. When the locking rod 600 is pressed to overcome the elastic force, causing the thick section 602 to exit the locking groove 303 and the thin section 601 to engage the locking groove 303 and unlock the knife 300, allowing the knife 300 to rotate, the inner end of the locking rod 600 extends into the blind hole 122 to prevent the movable member 200 from moving. In particular, the blind hole 122 is positioned so that the inner end of the locking lever 600 points toward the blind hole when the movable member 200 is positioned in the first position. Accordingly, when the locking lever 600 is pressed to unlock it, it extends into the blind hole 122, preventing the movable member 200 from moving with the blade 300, thus preventing misoperation. The remaining structure of this embodiment is identical to that of the embodiment shown in Figures 13-29 and will not be further described.
[0147] In one embodiment, as shown in Figures 37-39, this embodiment differs from the embodiment shown in Figures 31-36 in that the thick section 602 of the locking lever 600 has an irregular cylindrical or truncated cone shape, which prevents the locking member 600 from rotating and causing the blade 320 to be ejected. The thick section 602 is a cylinder with an axial notch, or a truncated cone with an axial notch, or a combination of a cylinder with an axial notch and a truncated cone. The remaining structure of this embodiment is the same as that of the embodiment shown in Figures 31-36 and is not further described.
[0148] In the aforementioned embodiments, in particular, the rotation of the knife 300 and the movement of the movable member 200 are configured to repel each other, that is, when the knife 300 can rotate, the movable member 200 cannot move, and when the movable member 200 moves, the knife 300 cannot rotate. This avoids accidents caused by the simultaneous rotation of the knife 300 and the movement of the movable member 200, thereby eliminating safety hazards.
[0149] Obviously, the above embodiments of the present invention are merely examples for the purpose of clearly illustrating the present invention, and are not intended to limit the embodiments of the present invention. Those skilled in the art will appreciate that other variations or modifications can be made based on the above description. It is not necessary and impossible to enumerate all embodiments here.
