Abstract
Description
[0001] ABSORBENT PRODUCT
[0002] TECHNICAL FIELD
[0003] The present disclosure relates to an absorbent product.
[0004] BACKGROUND OF DISCLOSURE
[0005] Absorbent products are well known in the art of personal hygiene as products that absorb and retain a body fluid discharged from the body of the wearer. Among the absorbent products, feminine absorbent products can be divided into general absorbent products for use during daytime when the wearer is highly active and overnight absorbent products for use during nighttime when the wearer is less active than during daytime. In general, the overnight absorbent products include an absorbent member that covers a wider area than an absorbent member of the general absorbent products in order to obtain superior absorbency compared to the general absorbent products. The overnight absorbent products are primarily used when the wearer is lying down (for example, in a sleeping position).
[0006] However, since the surface of a conventional overnight absorbent product on the side of the body of the wearer is formed as a flat surface, the body fluid discharged from the body when the wearer is lying down may flow through the intergluteal cleft and leak outside the absorbent product near the waist. In addition, the position of the wearer can be changed by tossing and turning during the sleep, resulting in deformation of the absorbent member. In this case as well, the body fluid discharged from the body may leak outside the absorbent product.
[0007] SUMMARY OF THE DISCLOSURE

To this end, the plurality of embodiments provide an absorbent product including a second absorbent core having a three-dimensional shape. Embodiments according to one aspect of the present disclosure relate to an absorbent product. An absorbent product according to an exemplary embodiment includes a top sheet that faces a body, a back sheet that faces a garment, an absorbent member disposed between the top sheet and the back sheet, and at least one channel portion formed by compressing the top sheet, the back sheet, and the absorbent member. The absorbent member includes an absorbent body extending in a longitudinal direction from the front to the rear of the body and having a predetermined thickness, a first absorbent core disposed at a location in which a body fluid is discharged from the body and formed thicker than the thickness of the absorbent body, and a second absorbent core disposed to be separated from the first absorbent core in a rearward direction and having a three-dimensional shape that is formed thicker than the thickness of the absorbent body and configured to increase in width along a width direction, which is perpendicular to the longitudinal direction, from the front to the rear. At least one channel portion includes a pair of first channels that are adjacent to both sides of the second absorbent core and extend along both sides of the second absorbent core.
[0009] In one embodiment, the second absorbent core may have an approximately triangular shape as seen in plan view.
[0010] In one embodiment, at least one channel portion may further include a pair of second channels extending between the first absorbent core and the second absorbent core and next to both sides of the pair of first channels.
[0011] In one embodiment, each of the pair of second channels may be separated from each of the pair of first channels along the width direction.
[0012] In an embodiment, the distance between the first channel and the second channel may be greater than 5 mm and less than 20 mm.
[0013] In one embodiment, at least one channel portion may further include a third channel that is adjacent to the rear end of the second absorbent core and extends along the width direction.
[0014] In one embodiment, at least one channel portion may further include a fourth channel that is separated from the third channel along the longitudinal direction and extends along the width direction.
[0015] In one embodiment, the absorbent member may be produced integrally by a forming apparatus having the shapes of the absorbent body, the first absorbent core, and the second absorbent core.
[0016] In one embodiment, the separation distance from the center of the absorbent product in the longitudinal direction to the front end of the second absorbent core may be greater than or equal to 10 mm and less than or equal to 100 mm.
[0017] In one embodiment, the separation distance from the center of the absorbent product in the longitudinal direction to the front end of the second absorbent core may be greater than or equal to 60 mm and less than or equal to 90 mm.
[0018] In one embodiment, the width at the front end of the second absorbent core along the width direction may be greater than or equal to 5 mm and less than or equal to 30 mm, and the width at the rear end of the second absorbent core along the width direction may be greater than or equal to 30 mm and less than or equal to 100 mm.
[0019] In one embodiment, the width at the front end of the second absorbent core along the width direction may be greater than or equal to 10 mm and less than or equal to 20 mm, and the width at the rear end of the second absorbent core along the width direction may be greater than or equal to 40 mm and less than or equal to 60 mm.
[0020] In one embodiment, the length of the second absorbent core along the longitudinal direction may be greater than or equal to 30 mm and less than or equal to 100 mm.
[0021] In one embodiment, the length of the second absorbent core along the longitudinal direction may be greater than or equal to 60 mm and less than or equal to 90 mm. The thickness of the second absorbent core may be greater than or equal to 1 .3 times and less than or equal to 2.0 times the thickness of the absorbent body.

[0024] In one embodiment, the distance between the second absorbent core and the first channel may be greater than or equal to 0 mm and less than or equal to 2 mm.
[0025] The absorbent product according to one embodiment is configured such that the second absorbent core of the absorbent member is in close contact with the intergluteal cleft of the wearer, since the second absorbent core has a three-dimensional shape that is formed thicker than the thickness of the absorbent body and configured to increase in width from the front to the rear. Thus, the distance between the absorbent product and the intergluteal cleft can be minimized. As a result, the body fluid discharged from the body of the wearer can be effectively prevented from flowing through the intergluteal cleft even when the wearer is lying down.

[0041] FIG. 1 is an exploded perspective view illustrating an absorbent product according to one embodiment of the present disclosure. FIG. 2 is a plan view of the absorbent product illustrated in FIG. 1 .
[0042] As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, an absorbent product (100) according to one embodiment of the present disclosure includes a top sheet (110), a back sheet (120), an absorbent member (130), and at least one channel portion (140) (hereinafter, simply referred to as a channel portion).
[0043] The top sheet (110) faces the body of a wearer and defines the body-facing surface of the absorbent product (100). The top sheet (110) is composed of a liquid-permeable material so that the body fluids that are discharged from the body (hereinafter, referred to as body exudates) can pass through. The top sheet (110) directs the body exudates away from the body of the wearer towards the absorbent member (130).
[0044] In various embodiments, the top sheet (110) may consist of a layer of a single material or multiple layers of multiple materials that are laminated. The top sheet (110) may be composed of any material, such as one or more woven sheets, one or more fibrous nonwoven sheets, one or more perforated film sheets, such as a blown film or extruded film that may be single-layered or multi-layered in itself, one or more foam sheets, such as open-cell or closed-cell foam in the form of a mesh, coated nonwoven sheets, or a combination of any of these materials. This combination may be adhesively, thermally, or ultrasonically laminated to a unified flat sheet structure to form the top sheet (110).
[0045] In various embodiments, the top sheet (110) may be composed of various nonwoven webs such as melt blown webs, spunbond webs, hydroentangled spunlace webs or through-air bonded carded webs. Examples of preferred materials for the top sheet (110) may include natural fiber webs such as cotton, rayon, hydroentangled webs, bonded carded webs of polyester, polypropylene, polyethylene, nylon, or other thermally-bonded fibers such as bicomponent fibers, polyolefin, copolymers of polypropylene and polyethylene, linear low-density polyethylene, and aliphatic esters such as polylactic acid. However, the top sheet (110) is not limited to such materials.
[0046] In various embodiments, the top sheet (110) may contain a plurality of perforations formed to allow the body exudates to pass through more easily into the absorbent member (130). The plurality of perforations may be randomly or uniformly arranged throughout the top sheet (110). The size, shape, diameter, and number of the perforations may vary to suit the specific needs of the absorbent product (100).
[0047] In various embodiments, the top sheet (110) may be at least partially hydrophilic. In various embodiments, a portion of the top sheet (110) may be hydrophilic and the remaining portion of the topsheet (110) may be hydrophobic. In various embodiments, the hydrophobic portion of the top sheet (110) may be an inherently hydrophobic material or a material treated with a hydrophobic coating.
[0048] The back sheet (120) faces the garment and defines the garment-facing surface of the absorbent product (100). The back sheet (120) is composed of a liquid-impermeable material to prevent the body exudates absorbed into the absorbent member (130) from passing through. The back sheet (120) may be configured to allow the passage of air or vapor out of the absorbent product (100) while blocking the passage of liquid. The back sheet (120) prevents the body exudates from leaking out of the absorbent product (100) and from wetting articles such as bed sheets and garments.
[0049] In various embodiments, the back sheet (120) may consist of a single layer or a multilayer. The back sheet (120) may be composed of a hydrophobic nonwoven material having moisture barrier properties such as a polyolefin film, a polyethylene film, a polypropylene film, and a nonwoven laminate. An example of the hydrophobic nonwoven material can be a four-layer laminate consisting of spunbond-melt blown-melt blown- spunbond.
[0050] The absorbent member (130) is disposed between the top sheet (110) and the back sheet (120). The top sheet (110) and the back sheet (120) are bonded and sealed on the outer edge of the absorbent member (130). The absorbent member (130) absorbs and retains the body exudates that have permeated through the top sheet (110). It is required that the absorbent member (130) is compressible, conformable, and non-irritating to the skin of the wearer. For example, the absorbent member (130) can be produced using fluff pulp or fluff pulp mixed with superabsorbent particles. In addition, the absorbent member (130) may consist of a single layer or a multilayer in which a plurality of layers are laminated.
[0051] FIG. 3 is a perspective view illustrating an absorbent member illustrated in FIG. 1.
[0052] As shown in FIG. 3, the absorbent member (130) includes an absorbent body (131 ), a first absorbent core (132), and a second absorbent core (133). The absorbent body (131) extends in a longitudinal direction (MD) from the front toward the rear of the body and has a predetermined thickness. Here, the longitudinal direction (MD) can be understood as the machine direction in which the absorbent product (100) is produced, and a width direction (CD) can be understood as the cross-machine direction which is the direction perpendicular to the machine direction. The planar area of the absorbent body (131 ) is smaller than the planar areas of the top sheet (110) and the back sheet (120).
[0053] The first absorbent core (132) is disposed at a location in which the body fluids are discharged from the body and is formed thicker than the thickness of the absorbent body (131). Here, the location in which the body fluids (that is, the body exudates) are discharged from the body may be the genital organ of a woman where the menstrual blood is discharged. The first absorbent core (132) extends along the longitudinal direction (MD). An opening (132a) for retaining the body exudates may be formed in the center of the first absorbent core (132).
[0054] The second absorbent core (133) is disposed to be separated from the first absorbent core (132) in the rearward direction. The second absorbent core (133) has a three-dimensional shape formed thicker than the thickness of the absorbent body (131) and configured to increase in width along the width direction (CD), which is perpendicular to the longitudinal direction (MD), from the front to the rear. The first absorbent core
[0055] (132) and the second absorbent core (133) may be configured to have the same thickness. With the wearer wearing the absorbent product (100), the second absorbent core (133) having the three-dimensional shape is disposed to be in close contact with the cleft between the hips (hereinafter, simply referred to as the intergluteal cleft), so that the distance between the absorbent product (100) and the intergluteal cleft can be minimized. Thus, the body exudates can be prevented from flowing through the intergluteal cleft and leaking near the waist even when the wearer is lying down.
[0056] The channel portion (140) is formed by compressing the top sheet (110), the back sheet (120), and the absorbent member (130). In the following description, the channel portion (140) refers to a depressed portion where each member is compressed, but when the channel portion (140) is formed discontinuously, the channel portion may refer to an embossment which is an uncompressed, convex portion. The channel portion (140) includes a pair of first channels (141) extending near both sides of the second absorbent core
[0057] (133) on the outer sides along the width direction (CD). The pair of first channels (141 ) are disposed on both sides of the second absorbent core (133) to prevent some of the material of the second absorbent core (133) from moving to both sides, thereby maintaining the three-dimensional shape of the second absorbent core (133). Since the pair of first channels (141) are mirror symmetric with respect to the longitudinal axis (LA) that extends along the longitudinal direction (MD) at the center in the width direction (CD), only one first channel is described in the following description. The first channel (141) may be arranged discontinuously along the longitudinal direction (MD) on both sides of the second absorbent core (133) to form an embossment. As such, in a case where the first channel (141 ) is formed discontinuously along the longitudinal direction (MD), the absorbent member (130) can be prevented from becoming stiff at the periphery of the first channel (141). As a result, the absorbent product (100) can be fitted to the body of the wearer having a curved shape (for example, the hip).
[0058] In one embodiment, the channel portion (140) may include one or more channels (140a) formed by compressing the top sheet (110), the back sheet (120), and the absorbent member (130) around the first absorbent core (132).
[0059] In one embodiment, the second absorbent core (133) may have an approximately triangular shape as seen in plan view. For example, the second absorbent core (133) may be of an approximately triangular shape that has a narrow width (W1) at the front end and a wide width (W2) at the rear end and is configured to increase in width from the front end to the rear end. Here, examples of the approximately triangular shape may include a triangle having an angled shape or a round shape near the vertex. Since the three-dimensional shape of the second absorbent core (133) corresponds to the three-dimensional shape of the region that extends from the intergluteal cleft to the waist, the intergluteal cleft is filled with at least a portion of the second absorbent core (133). Thus, the absorbent product (100) can be in close contact with the body of the wearer. As a result, the body exudates can effectively be prevented from leaking along the intergluteal cleft when the wearer is lying down.
[0060] In one embodiment, the channel portion (140) may further include a pair of second channels (142) extending between the first absorbent core (132) and the second absorbent core (133) and next to both sides of the pair of first channels (141). Since the pair of second channels (142) are mirror symmetric with respect to the longitudinal axis (LA), only one second channel (142) is described in the following description. A portion of the second channel (142) along the longitudinal direction (MD) extends between the first absorbent core (132) and the second absorbent core (133) along the longitudinal direction (MD), and the remaining portion of the second channel (142) along the longitudinal direction (MD) extends along the longitudinal direction (MD) next to the first channel (141). That is, in the longitudinal direction (MD), the second channel (142) at least partially overlaps with the first channel (141). The second channel (142) serves to prevent creasing of the absorbent body (131) and / or the top sheet (110) due to the three-dimensional shape of both sides of the second absorbent core (133). The second channel (142) may be arranged discontinuously along the longitudinal direction (MD) to form an embossment. As such, in a case where the second channel (142) is formed discontinuously along the longitudinal direction (MD), the absorbent member (130) can be prevented from becoming stiff at the periphery of the second channel (142) while maintaining the function of the second channel (142), which is to prevent the creasing of the absorbent body (131) and / or the top sheet (110). As a result, the absorbent product (100) can be in close contact with the body of the wearer having a curved shape (for example, the perineum).
[0061] In one embodiment, each of the pair of second channels (142) may be separated from each of the pair of first channels (141) along the width direction (CD). In the region where the first channel (141) and the second channel (142) overlap, the second channel (142) is positioned on the outside of the first channel (141) along the width direction (CD). The front end of the second channel (142) may be separated from the first absorbent core (132) along the longitudinal direction (MD).
[0062] FIG. 4 is the plan view of the absorbent product illustrated in FIG. 2 in which dimensions are indicated. As shown in FIG. 4, in one embodiment, the distance (G1) between the first channel (141) and the second channel (142) may be greater than 5 mm and less than 20 mm. In a case where the distance (G1) between the first channel (141 ) and the second channel (142) is less than or equal to 5 mm, the first channel (141 ) and the second channel (142) are disposed excessively close to each other, and the absorbent member (130) may become stiff in the region where the first channel (141) and the second channel (142) overlap. Thus, the absorbent product (100) may not be in close contact with the body of the wearer. In a case where the distance between the first channel (141 ) and the second channel (142) is greater than or equal to 20 mm, the first channel (141) and the second channel (142) are disposed excessively far from each other, and the effect of preventing creasing of the absorbent body (131) and / or the top sheet (110) may be reduced.
[0063] In one embodiment, the channel portion (140) may further include a third channel (143) that is adjacent to the rear end of the second absorbent core (133) and extends along the width direction (CD). The third channel (143) may extend in a curved shape along the width direction (CD) to correspond to the shape of the rear end of the second absorbent core (133). The third channel (143) is disposed at the rear end of the second absorbent core (133) to prevent some of the material of the second absorbent core (133) from moving rearward, thereby maintaining the three-dimensional shape of the second absorbent core (133). The third channel (143) may be formed continuously or discontinuously along the width direction (CD).
[0064] In one embodiment, the channel portion (140) may further include a fourth channel (144) that is separated from the third channel) along the longitudinal direction (MD) and extends along the width direction (CD). The fourth channel (144) may extend in a curved shape along the width direction (CD) to correspond to the shape of the rear end of the second absorbent core (133). The fourth channel (144) serves to prevent creasing of the absorbent body (131) and / or the top sheet (110) due to the three-dimensional shape of the rear end of the second absorbent core (133). The fourth channel (144) may be formed continuously or discontinuously along the width direction (CD).
[0065] In one embodiment, the absorbent member (130) may be produced integrally by a forming apparatus having the shapes of the absorbent body (131), the first absorbent core (132), and the second absorbent core (133). For example, the forming apparatus may be configured with a forming drum configured to have the shapes of the absorbent body (131), the first absorbent core (132), and the second absorbent core (133) and rotate. The absorbent body (131), the first absorbent core (132), and the second absorbent core (133) that constitute the absorbent member (130) may be formed of the same material. The absorbent member (130) having a three-dimensional shape in which the first absorbent core (132) and the second absorbent core (133) protrude from the absorbent body (131) can be produced by injecting the material of the absorbent member (130) (for example, fluff pulp and / or superabsorbent material) into the forming drum and transported through a conveyor device. Although the absorbent member (130) has the three-dimensional shape in which the first absorbent core (132) and the second absorbent core (133) protrude from the absorbent body (131), the overall productivity of the absorbent product (100) can be improved, since the absorbent member (130) can be produced integrally by a single process.
[0066] In one embodiment, the separation distance (L1) from the center (C) of the absorbent product (100) in the longitudinal direction (MD) to the front end of the second absorbent core (133) may be greater than or equal to 10 mm and less than or equal to 100 mm. In a case where the separation distance (L1) between the center of the absorbent product (100) and the second absorbent core (133) is less than 10 mm, the second absorbent core (133) is disposed excessively forward, and the second absorbent core (133) may not be accurately positioned in the intergluteal cleft. In a case where the separation distance (L1) between the center (C) of the absorbent product (100) and the second absorbent core (133) is greater than 100 mm, the second absorbent core (133) is disposed excessively rearward, and the second absorbent core (133) may not be accurately positioned in the intergluteal cleft. In a preferred embodiment, the separation distance (L1) from the center (C) of the absorbent product (100) in the longitudinal direction (MD) to the front end of the second absorbent core (133) may be greater than or equal to 60 mm and less than or equal to 90 mm. By setting the separation distance (L1) between the center (C) of the absorbent product (100) and the second absorbent core (133) to greater than or equal to 60 mm and less than or equal to 90 mm, the second absorbent core (133) can be positioned more accurately in the intergluteal cleft.
[0067] In one embodiment, the width (W1) at the front end of the second absorbent core (133) along the width direction (CD) may be greater than or equal to 5 mm and less than or equal to 30 mm, and the width (W2) at the rear end of the second absorbent core (133) along the width direction (CD) may be greater than or equal to 30 mm and less than or equal to 100 mm. In a case where the width (W1) at the front end of the second absorbent core (133) is less than 5 mm, the width (W1 ) of the second absorbent core (133) becomes excessively narrow, and the three-dimensional shape of the second absorbent core (133) may be difficult to be maintained. In a case where the width (W1) at the front end of the second absorbent core (133) is greater than 30 mm, the width (W1) of the second absorbent core (133) becomes excessively wide, and the intergluteal cleft may not be filled with the front end of the second absorbent core (133). In a case where the width (W2) at the rear end of the second absorbent core (133) is less than 30 mm, the width (W2) of the second absorbent core (133) becomes excessively narrow, and the rear end of the second absorbent core (133) may not be able to cover the region that extends from the intergluteal cleft to the waist. In a case where the width (W2) at the rear end of the second absorbent core (133) is greater than 100 mm, the width of the second absorbent core (133) becomes excessively wide, and the region that extends from the intergluteal cleft to the waist may not be filled with the rear end of the second absorbent core (133). In a preferred embodiment, the width (W1) at the front end of the second absorbent core (133) along the width direction (CD) may be greater than or equal to 10 mm and less than or equal to 20 mm, and the width (W2) at the rear end of the second absorbent core (133) along the width direction (CD) may be greater than or equal to 40 mm and less than or equal to 60 mm. By setting the width (W1 ) at the front end of the second absorbent core (133) to greater than or equal to 10 mm and less than or equal to 20 mm, and the width (W2) at the rear end of the second absorbent core (133) to greater than or equal to 40 mm and less than or equal to 60 mm, the intergluteal cleft as well as the region that extends from the intergluteal cleft to the waist can be filled with the second absorbent core (133), allowing the second absorbent core (133) to be in closer contact.
[0068] In one embodiment, the length (L2) of the second absorbent core (133) along the longitudinal direction (MD) may be greater than or equal to 30 mm and less than or equal to 100 mm. In a case where the length (L2) of the second absorbent core (133) is less than 30 mm, the length (L2) of the second absorbent core (133) becomes excessively short, and the second absorbent core (133) may not be able to entirely cover the intergluteal cleft and the region that extends from the intergluteal cleft to the waist. In a case where the length (L2) of the second absorbent core (133) is greater than 100 mm, the length (L2) of the second absorbent core (133) becomes excessively long, and the second absorbent core (133) may be disposed further to the front of the intergluteal cleft and to the rear of the waist. As a result, the wearing sensation of the absorbent product (100) may be compromised. In a preferred embodiment, the length (L2) of the second absorbent core (133) along the longitudinal direction (MD) may be greater than or equal to 60 mm and less than or equal to 90 mm. By setting the length (L2) of the second absorbent core (133) to greater than or equal to 60 mm and less than or equal to 90 mm, the second absorbent core (133) can be suitably positioned in the intergluteal cleft and the region that extends from the intergluteal cleft to the waist.
[0069] FIG. 5 is a partial cross-sectional view taken along the V-V line shown in FIG. 1. FIG. 6 is a partial cross-sectional view taken along the VI-VI line shown in FIG. 1.
[0070] As shown in FIGS. 5 and 6, in one embodiment, the thickness (T2) of the second absorbent core (133) may be greater than or equal to 1 .3 times and less than or equal to 2.0 times the thickness (T1 ) of the absorbent body (131). In a case where the thickness (T2) of the second absorbent core (133) is less than 1.3 times the thickness (T1) of the absorbent body (131), the thickness (T2) of the second absorbent core (133) is excessively thin, and the intergluteal cleft may not be sufficiently filled with the second absorbent core (133). As a result, the second absorbent core (133) may not be in close contact with the intergluteal cleft. In a case where the thickness (T2) of the second absorbent core (133) is greater than 2.0 times the thickness (T1) of the absorbent body (131), the thickness (T2) of the second absorbent core (133) is excessively thick, and the intergluteal cleft may be overfilled with the second absorbent core (133), whereby the absorbent product (100) is separated from the hip. As a result, the absorbent product (100) may not be in close contact with the hip. In addition, due to the difference between the thickness (T2) of the second absorbent core (133) and the thickness (T 1 ) of the absorbent body (131 ), the top sheet (110) may be creased. In a preferred embodiment, the thickness (T2) of the second absorbent core (133) may be greater than or equal to 1.5 times and less than or equal to 1.8 times the thickness (T1) of the absorbent body (131). By setting the thickness (T2) of the second absorbent core (133) to greater than or equal to 1 .5 times and less than or equal to 1.8 times the thickness (T1) of the absorbent body (131), the second absorbent core (133) as well as the absorbent product (100) including the second absorbent core (133) can be in close contact with the body in a suitable manner.
[0071] In one embodiment, the distance (G2) between the second absorbent core (133) and the first channel (141) may be greater than or equal to and less than or equal to 10 mm. In a case where the distance (G2) between the second absorbent core (133) and the first channel (141 ) is greater than 10 mm, the first channel (141) is disposed far from the second absorbent core (133), and the effect of maintaining the three- dimensional shape of the second absorbent core (133) by the first channel (141) may be reduced. In a preferred embodiment, the distance (G2) between the second absorbent core (133) and the first channel (141) may be less than or equal to 2 mm. By setting the distance (G2) between the second absorbent core (133) and the first channel (141) to less than or equal to 2 mm, the first channel (141) can more effectively maintain the three-dimensional shape of the second absorbent core (133). In this embodiment, the lower limit of the distance (G2) between the second absorbent core (133) and the first channel (141 ) may include zero. That is, the first channel (141) may be attached to the second absorbent core (133).
