[0002] The present disclosure relates to a handle and a container comprising a handle. This handle is particularly, although not exclusively, suited to be attached to a container such as a bucket.
[0003] BACKGROUND
[0004] Plastic handles for container, such as paint bucket are well known. For example, U.S. Patent Number 4,796,775 describes such a handle.
[0005] One solution has been to provide a grip, formed of two interlocking members, placed around a bail. For example, U.S. Patent Number US 9,914,560 describes such a handle.
[0006] Another solution has been to provide a handle and a container combination, wherein the handle includes a bail and a gripping means. In this solution, the bail comprises a central portion comprising annular beads and one engagement sites for positioning the gripping means. For example, US 6,257,440 Bl describes such a handle.
[0007] The present disclosure seeks to provide improvements in or relating to plastic handle for containers. Particularly, it is an objective of the invention to provide a handle which can be comfortably grasped irrespective of the grip position on the bail.

[0009] This object is achieved by providing a handle according to any one of the claims 1 to 10. This object is also achieved by providing a container according to any one of the claims 11 to 13.
[0010] An aspect of the present invention relates to a plastic handle 1 for a container comprising a grip 2 and a bail 3, wherein said grip 2 extends longitudinally from a first grip end 4 to a second grip end 5, wherein said grip comprises an elongated channel 2c extending from the first grip end 4 to the second grip end 5, wherein the channel 2c is configured for insertion and removal of the bail, wherein said bail 3 extends from a first bail end 3a to a second bail end 3b, wherein the bail 3 is configured to be slidably inserted into the channel 2c of the grip 2, wherein the second bail end 3b extends beyond the second grip end 5 when, in use, the bail 3 is inserted into the channel 2c of the grip 2, wherein said bail 3 comprises a first bail retainer 9 and the grip (2) comprises a first grip retainer 12 that is adapted to mate with the first bail retainer 9 such that, in use, corresponding retainers prevent sliding displacement of the grip 2 with respect to the bail 3, characterized in that the bail 3 comprises a top surface 31 and a bottom surface 32, wherein the top surface 31 comprises a rib 7.

[0070] As illustrated in Figure 1, in this embodiment, the plastic handle 1 comprises a grip 2 and a bail 3. The elongated channel of the grip 2 is a hollow cylinder, extending from a first end 4 to a second end 5. The grip 2 comprises a central grip portion 6 bordered by sidewalls, on the first end 4 and on the second end 5. Those sidewalls have a larger diameter than the central grip portion 6. The bail comprises attachment means 8.

CLAIMS1. A plastic handle (1) for a container comprising a grip (2) and a bail (3), wherein said grip (2) extends longitudinally from a first grip end (4) to a second grip end (5), wherein said grip comprises an elongated channel (2c) extending from the first grip end (4) to the second grip end (5), wherein the channel (2c) is configured for insertion and removal of the bail, wherein said bail (3) extends from a first bail end (3a) to a second bail end (3b), wherein the bail (3) is configured to be slidably inserted into the channel (2c) of the grip (2), wherein the second bail end (3b) extends beyond the second grip end (5) when, in use, the bail (3) is inserted into the channel (2c) of the grip (2), wherein said bail (3) comprises a first bail retainer (9) and the grip (2) comprises a first grip retainer (12) that is adapted to mate with the first bail retainer (9) such that, in use, corresponding retainers prevent sliding displacement of the grip (2) with respect to the bail (3), characterized in that the bail (3) comprises a top surface (31) and a bottom surface (32), wherein the top surface (31) comprises a rib (7).
2. A plastic handle according to claim 1, wherein the bottom surface (32) is essentially flat in a direction transverse to the bail length.
3. A plastic handle according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the bail has a T-shaped cross-section.
4. A plastic handle according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein said first bail retainer and said first grip retainer comprise at least one groove and at least one protrusion.
5. A plastic handle according to claim 4, wherein said first bail retainer and said first grip retainer comprise one groove and one protrusion.
6. A plastic handle according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the grip (2) is formed as one piece.

A plastic handle according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the bail (3) comprises a grip fitting portion (11) and two curved portions (10, 10’), each of said two curved portionsextends between said grip fitting portion and one of the two ends of the bail wherein the grip fitting portion has a greater curvature than each said two curved portions.
8. A plastic handle according to claim 7, wherein in use, the bottom surface of the bail is substantially flat, irrespective of the curvature of the bail.
9. A plastic handle according to claim 7 or 8, wherein the grip fitting portions (11) defines four comers (13, 13’, 13”) and in use when the first grip retainer (12) mates with the first bail retainer 9, each corner of the grip fitting portions (11) is in contact with the grip (2).
10. A plastic handle according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the handle is made of at least 20 weight percent of recycled plastic.
11. A container comprising- a container body and- a handle according to any one of the claims 1 to 11, connected to said container body.
12. A container according to claim 13 wherein the container body comprises an upstanding continuous sidewall, a bottom wall, an open top, an interior surface, and an exterior surface.
13. A container according to claim 13 or 14 wherein the container is made of plastic.
