Abstract
Description
Used product recovery equipment
[0001] The present invention relates to a used product recovery device.
[0002] Reuse sales are being implemented in which unwanted electronic devices, such as discarded mobile phones, are collected, repaired, serviced, and then resold. When such electronic devices are collected at manned counters, the personnel costs associated with the counters can hinder the expansion of collection activities. Therefore, there is a demand for technology to collect such electronic devices unmanned.
[0003] Regarding technology for unmanned collection of electronic devices, Patent Literature 1 discloses a consumer-operated kiosk including an inspection area configured to receive a mobile phone for resale from a first user, a processing system configured to prepare the mobile phone for resale, and a delivery system configured to deliver the mobile phone to a second user after the mobile phone has been prepared for resale and repurchased by the second user. The processing system of the consumer-operated kiosk described in Patent Literature 1 further includes a transportation system, which may be configured to move the mobile phone from the inspection area to the processing system and from the processing system to the storage area.
[0004] The technology described in U.S. Patent No. 6,277,623 may simplify the selling and buying process, improve the consumer experience, and prevent fraud. The technology described in U.S. Patent No. 6,277,623 may also enable the movement of mobile phones among various processing and storage locations within the kiosk, such as by further incorporating a transportation system.
[0005] Special Publication No. 2023-508903
[0006] However, the technology described in Patent Document 1 carries the risk that the mobile phone may be damaged by external vibrations during storage or transportation, thereby reducing the value of the reused item.
[0007] Furthermore, the technology described in Patent Document 1 limits the collection of reused products using unmanned equipment to products that can be repaired, maintained, etc., through automatic processing using robotic fingers, etc. Reuseable products that have been on the market for a long time and for which there is no expected demand even if sold as secondhand goods, or used products that have damage that makes them difficult to sell as reused products even after repair and maintenance, are not eligible for collection. Many rare metals, such as precious metals, rare metals, and rare earths, are used in the circuit boards of small home appliances, which are known as urban mines. However, the technology described in Patent Document 1 alone results in these rare metals being discarded.
[0008] The objective of the present invention is to achieve both the appropriate collection, storage, and transportation of a wide range of reused items and recycled items related to electronic devices and home appliances, while reducing the overall storage costs, including for recycled items, in the automatic collection of reused and recycled items related to electronic devices and home appliances.
[0009] As a result of intensive research into solving the above-mentioned problems, the inventors have found that the above-mentioned object can be achieved by providing a housing member that houses reused items to be repaired, serviced, etc. and resold with an anti-vibration mechanism that prevents the reused items from being damaged by vibration, and further by identifying the type of unnecessary electronic device and storing only the reused items to be repaired, serviced, etc. and resold in a housing member provided with the anti-vibration mechanism, and storing other electronic devices in a different housing member. The inventors have then completed the present invention.
[0010] The first aspect of the present invention provides a used product recovery device comprising a type discrimination unit that discriminates the type of used product, a reused product storage unit that stores reused products that have been determined to be electronic devices to be sold after repair, and a recycled product storage unit that stores recycled products that have been determined not to be electronic devices to be sold after repair, wherein the reused product storage unit has a vibration-damping mechanism that prevents the reused products from being damaged by external vibrations.
[0011] In the first aspect of the present invention, a reused product storage unit with a vibration-damping mechanism stores reused products, which are electronic devices to be sold after repair, among collected used products such as electronic devices and home appliances. This allows the invention to store reused products so that their value is not diminished by damage caused by external vibrations, and transport them to a repair shop, etc. This allows the invention to properly collect, store, and transport a wide range of reused products, including reused products that cannot be repaired or maintained by automatic processing.
[0012] However, such vibration-damping mechanisms usually increase the manufacturing costs of the reusable product storage section and also reduce the space utilization efficiency of the reusable product storage section, so if all collected used products were to be stored in the reusable product storage section, storage costs would increase and there is a concern that it would not be possible to store many used products.
[0013] This invention uses a type discrimination unit to separate reused and recycled items, storing only reused items in a reused item storage section with high storage costs, and stores recycled items in a separate recyclable item storage section. This allows recyclable items to be stored in a recyclable item storage section with reduced storage costs by eliminating vibration-damping mechanisms, etc., and minimizes the use of vibration-damping mechanisms that increase storage costs. Therefore, this invention can simultaneously store and transport collected reused items so that their value is not lost due to damage, while reducing overall storage costs, including for recycled items.
[0014] Therefore, the invention relating to the first feature can achieve both the appropriate collection, storage, and transportation of a wide range of reused items and recycled items related to electronic devices and home appliances, while reducing the overall storage costs, including for recycled items, in the automatic collection of reused and recycled items related to electronic devices and home appliances.
[0015] A second aspect of the invention is the first aspect of the invention, and provides a collection device further comprising a self-reported information acquisition unit that acquires self-reported information, which is information about the used product and is information provided by the user, and the type determination unit determines the type of the used product based on the self-reported information.
[0016] Collection of used products is encouraged by offering at least one of points exchangeable for money, goods, services, etc., and money as compensation. In such collection, users are required to provide information about the used products in order to assess the compensation. Such information about the used products can be useful for discrimination in the type discrimination unit.
[0017] The invention according to the second feature determines the type of used product based on self-reported information provided by the user. This allows the invention to distinguish between reused products among collected used products, and store and transport the reused products in a way that prevents their value from being lost due to damage, while also reducing the overall storage costs, including for recycled products.
[0018] The third aspect of the invention is the first aspect of the invention, and provides a used product recovery device further comprising a data acquisition unit that acquires data from the used products via communication, and the type determination unit determines the type of the used products based on the data.
[0019] Electronic devices are typically configured to provide data identifying the type of electronic device, such as a model number or serial number, via wired or wireless communication. The invention according to the third feature uses reliable data obtained from used products via communication to determine the type of the used product. This allows the invention to identify reused products among collected electronic devices based on reliable information, thereby enabling appropriate collection, storage, and transportation of reused products while reducing overall storage costs, including for recycled products.
[0020] The fourth aspect of the invention is the first aspect of the invention, and provides a collection device further comprising a photographing unit that photographs the appearance of the used product, and the type discrimination unit discriminates the type of the used product based on the appearance.
[0021] Electronic devices have a unique appearance depending on their type. The appearance of an electronic device may also include a model number, a serial number, etc. The invention according to the fourth feature uses relatively reliable information, namely, the photographed appearance of a used product, to determine the type of the used product. This allows the invention to identify reused products based on reliable information, allowing reused products to be stored and transported without losing their value due to damage, while also reducing the overall storage costs, including for recycled products.
[0022] The present invention enables the automatic collection of reused and recycled electronic and home appliance products to properly collect, store, and transport a wide range of reused items while reducing overall storage costs, including for recycled items.

That is, the immediate disclosure, diagrams, and claims are intended to encompass the various aspects described herein, each alone or in one or more combinations with each other. For example, even if the immediate disclosure describes and illustrates a first embodiment, a second embodiment, and a third embodiment in such a way that the first embodiment is described and illustrated specifically in conjunction with the second embodiment, or the second embodiment is described and illustrated only in conjunction with the third embodiment, the immediate disclosure and illustrations are not so limited and may include only the first embodiment, only the second embodiment, only the third embodiment, or one or more combinations of the first, second, and / or third embodiments, such as the first and second embodiments, the first and third embodiments, the second and third embodiments, or the first, second, and third embodiments.
[0025] The use of the phrase "or" herein shall mean a "non-exclusive" arrangement unless expressly specified otherwise. For example, when we say "item x is A or B," we mean either: (1) item x is either A or B, but not both; or (2) item x is both A and B. In other words, the word "or" is not used to define an "exclusive" arrangement.
[0026] Additionally, as used herein, the phrases "comprise at least one of" and "comprise at least one of the following," when used in connection with a system or element, mean that the system or element includes one or more of the elements listed after the phrase. For example, if there are three types of elements, a first element, a second element, or a third element, the phrases "comprise at least one of" and "comprise at least one of the following" are to be interpreted as any of the following structural arrangements: a device including the first element, a device including the second element, a device including the third element, a device including the first and second elements, a device including the first and third elements, a device including the second and third elements, or a device including the first, second, and third elements.
[0027] A similar interpretation is intended when the phrase "used in at least one of the following" is used herein. Furthermore, as used herein, "and / or" is used as a verbal conjunction to indicate that one or more of the listed elements or conditions are included or occur. For example, a device including a first element, a second element, and / or a third element is to be interpreted as any of the following structural arrangements: a device including the first element, a device including the second element, a device including the third element, a device including the first element and the second element, a device including the first element and the third element, a device including the second element and the third element, or a device including the first element, the second element, and the third element.
[0028] In addition, the use of the phrase "and / or" in the text means a "non-exclusive" agreement, as stipulated in the Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS) "Format and preparation method of standard sheets JIS Z 8301."
[0029] An example of an embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail below with reference to the drawings.
[0030] (Used product recovery device 1) As shown in Figures 1 and 2, the used product recovery device 1 has a used product storage section 8 that stores used products 103 of a user 102, which are either reused or recycled electronic devices, home appliances, household goods, etc., in a manner that allows them to be separated into reused and recycled products; a used product information acquisition section 5 that acquires used product information about the used products 103 stored in the used product storage section 8; a status determination section 6 that determines the status of the used products 103 based on the used product information acquired by the used product information acquisition section 5; a data erasure section 7 that erases data of the used products 103 stored in the used product storage section 8; a reward section 4 that grants a reward to the user 102 according to the status of the used products 103 determined by the status determination section 6; and a communication section 2 that transmits association information that associates the used products 103 with the user 102 to an external device 106.
[0031] (Used Product Recovery Device 1: Used Product Storage Unit 8) The used product storage unit 8 has the function of accepting used products 103 provided by users 102 and storing them separately as reused products and recyclable products. Specifically, the used product storage unit 8 has the function of temporarily storing used products 103, inspecting the temporarily stored used products 103 using sensors and scanners to determine information such as the type, size, and condition of the used products 103 and classifying them into reused products and recyclable products, and storing the classified reused products and recyclable products separately in different storage units 81 and 82. Specifically, after the used products 103 are inserted by the user 102, the used product storage unit 8 performs an initial diagnosis using a camera or the like to check the appearance and condition of each used product 103. Then, based on the physical characteristics of the used products 103 (size, weight, material, etc.), the used products 103 are automatically sorted into reusable products and those that require recycling. After it is confirmed that the reused items are in a reusable state, they are moved to a reused item storage section 81 and stored therein, while the recycled items are moved to a recycled item storage section 82 and stored therein.
[0032] The used product storage section 8 receives used products 103 provided by users 102 and separates them into reused and recyclable products for storage. The used product storage section 8 has a reused product storage section 81 for storing reused products and a recycled product storage section 82 for storing recycled products. The reused product storage section 81 is a dedicated section for properly storing electronic devices determined to be reusable and processing them in preparation for reuse. It is preferable that the reused product storage section 81 has the function of maintaining a temperature and humidity controlled environment suitable for the reuse of electronic devices. Meanwhile, the recycled product storage section 82 is a dedicated section for properly storing electronic devices determined to require recycling and preparing them for reprocessing or material recovery. The mechanical details of the used product storage section 8 will be described later.
[0033] Here, a "reused product" is a product among the used products 103 that is in a state where it can be reused; specifically, a product that the state determination unit 6 has determined to be reusable based on the used product information. A "recycled product" is a product that is in a state where it can be recycled for the purpose of material recovery and reprocessing, rather than reuse. Recycled products are evaluated by the state determination unit 6 to determine whether electronic devices and the like are functionally difficult to reuse, but whether or not their parts can be extracted and reprocessed as raw materials. If determined to be recyclable, they are disassembled through appropriate processing to extract their value as resources, and then separated into various metal resources.
[0034] Representative examples of used products include electronic devices. "Electronic devices" include all electronic products, home appliances, household goods, etc. of a size that can be collected by the used product recovery device 1, and examples include general household electrical appliances that the user 102 no longer needs or uses. Specific examples include consumer electronic devices commonly used in general households, such as smartphones, tablet computers, laptop computers, digital cameras, and video cameras; household electrical appliances, such as televisions, radios, and stereo equipment; computer peripherals, such as printers, scanners, hard disk drives, and monitors; audiovisual equipment, such as DVD players, game consoles, and speakers; electronic measuring instruments; and medical equipment.
[0035] The "user 102" is an individual or organization that uses the used product recovery device 1 to dispose of used products 103, such as electronic devices, for the purpose of reuse or recycling. Specifically, this includes individual users 102 who dispose of old or broken electronic devices used at home, and corporate users 102 such as companies or educational institutions who dispose of old computers, printers, and other electronic devices used in offices, factories, and schools. In the case of corporate users 102, employees or other related parties of the corporation deposit the used products 103 into the used product recovery device 1. The "used products 103" are used or unnecessary electronic devices brought in by the users 102, and are mainly products that have reached the end of their lifespan, are technologically obsolete, are broken, or are used less frequently.
[0036] "Storing products so that they can be separated into reused and recycled" means that the used product storage section 8 has the function of efficiently classifying used products 103 (mainly electronic devices, etc.) provided by users 102 into two categories: reusable products (reusable products) and products that require material recovery for recycling (recyclable products), and storing each separately. The reused products stored separately in the used product storage section 8 are electronic devices that are in relatively good condition and can be safely reused, so they will be reused by resale, donation, etc. after undergoing a complete data erasure process, simple repairs, and cleaning. On the other hand, the recycled products are electronic devices, etc. that are so damaged that repair and reuse are uneconomical or impossible, or that are technologically obsolete, so they will be sent to a recycling plant after being completely disassembled and / or crushed to completely erase all data, not just completely erased.
[0037] (Used Product Recovery Device 1: Used Product Information Acquisition Unit 5) The used product information acquisition unit 5 has an information collection function for collecting used product information related to the used product 103. Here, "used product information related to the used product 103" refers to detailed data related to the used product 103, and is information necessary for accurate evaluation, classification, and appropriate processing of the used product 103. Examples of such information include product identification information such as the product name, model number, manufacturer, and year of manufacture; product condition information such as physical damage, functional problems, and usage status; and accessory information such as the presence or absence of accessories originally included with the product, such as a charger, cable, and instruction manual. The used product information may be input from the user terminal 101 via the Internet 104, or may be acquired from a website that lists various information by reading barcode information or two-dimensional code information such as a QR code (registered trademark) printed on the housing of the used product 103.
[0038] The used product information acquisition unit 5 collects product identification information (product name, model, manufacturer, year of manufacture, etc.) of the used product 103 when the user 102 brings the used product 103 to the used product recovery device 1. The collection is performed using a barcode scanner or an RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) reader. The used product information acquisition unit 5 also includes an appearance acquisition unit 52 that performs an appearance inspection based on surveillance video of the used product 103, and a weight acquisition unit 53 that measures the weight of the used product 103. The appearance acquisition unit 52 acquires product appearance information based on the appearance of the used product 103. The product appearance information is used by the type determination unit 61 to determine the type of the used product 103. The weight acquisition unit 53 also acquires product weight information based on the weight of the used product 103. The product weight information is used as part of the remuneration calculation data in the appraisal unit 43. Furthermore, the used product information acquisition unit 5 accesses the control unit of the used product 103 to perform simple function tests and evaluate the physical and functional condition of the used product 103, thereby acquiring product condition information indicating whether the used product 103 is reusable or suitable only for recycling.
[0039] The used product information acquisition unit 5 also includes a self-reported information acquisition unit 51 that acquires self-reported information provided by the user 102. The self-reported information acquisition unit 51 includes a manual input interface for directly entering information into forms and input fields displayed on the screen using input devices such as a keyboard, mouse, or touch panel. This allows the user 102 to directly input detailed information about the used product 103 into the used product information acquisition unit 5. Here, the "self-reported information" includes data for understanding the condition of the used product 103 in detail, such as the product name, model number, year of manufacture, usage status, and whether or not it has malfunctioned, enabling more accurate determination of how to dispose of the used product 103 and whether it can be reused. Furthermore, the self-reported information is compared with existing information in a database to confirm consistency and accuracy, preventing incorrect or inaccurate information from being entered.
[0040] (Used product recovery device 1: condition determination unit 6) The condition determination unit 6 has a function to evaluate the possibility of reusing the used product 103 by determining the condition of the used product 103 based on self-reported information (used product information) provided by the user 102 and the used product information collected by the used product information acquisition unit 5, and also has a function to determine the type of the used product 103. That is, the condition determination unit 6 has a reuse product determination unit 62 that comprehensively analyzes the physical damage, functional problems, and appearance condition of the used product 103 and determines whether the used product 103 is a reuse product (reusable electronic device) or a recycled product (electronic device intended for material recovery or reprocessing, etc.), and a type determination unit 61 that determines the type of the used product 103.
[0041] The reuse product determination unit 62 has the functions of performing an appearance inspection process that evaluates information about the appearance of the used product 103 (scratches, dents, damage, etc.) and classifies those with good appearances as candidates for reuse and those with significant damage as candidates for recycling; a function test process that, if it can access the control unit of the used product 103, performs a basic function test to check whether it functions normally, and classifies fully functional used products 103 as reuse and non-functional used products as recycling; a parts completeness check process that evaluates whether all necessary parts are present and functionally normal, and classifies products with missing necessary parts or that are malfunctioning as recycling; and a repairability evaluation process that determines whether the product can be reused through repair, even if it is imperfect, and classifies them as reuse if repair is economically feasible, or as recycling if repair is not economically feasible.
[0042] The classification through these processes may be performed by machine learning or generative artificial intelligence (AI) using a large-scale language model. Specifically, utilizing machine learning and a large-scale language model in the processing of the reuse product determination unit 62 enables efficient and accurate detailed analysis and classification of used products 103. The machine learning model learns classification patterns based on the appearance and functional status of used products 103 from past data and applies them to newly received used products 103 to quickly identify appropriate candidates for reuse or recycling. Meanwhile, the large-scale language model analyzes text data and specifications related to used products 103 to support complex inferences regarding the product's condition and repairability. This enables the reuse product determination unit 62 to make more sophisticated decisions and effectively classify each used product 103 into the most appropriate category.
[0043] The type determination unit 61 also has the function of analyzing the data (product name, model, manufacturer, year of manufacture, etc.) provided by the used product information acquisition unit 5 to identify the product type to which each used product 103 belongs. This enables the type determination unit 61 to identify the used product 103 as a specific product type, such as a smartphone, laptop, television, printer, etc.
[0044] In this way, the evaluations made by the state determination unit 6 through each process serve as important criteria for judgment before the products are separated and stored in the used product storage unit 8, enabling efficient reuse and recycling to be realized. Furthermore, based on the results of the judgment, appropriate data erasure and processing are performed, making it possible to provide a reward to the user 102 and send information to the external device 106 via the communication unit 2.
[0045] Here, the "condition of the used product 103" indicates whether the used product 103 is in a reused or recycled state. The condition of the used product 103 is classified by evaluating the appearance of the used product 103 (scratches, dents, damage, etc.). A used product with a good appearance is classified as reused, while a used product with significant damage is classified as recycled. It is also evaluated whether all necessary parts are present and functionally correct. If parts are missing or malfunctioning, the used product is classified as recycled. The used product 103 is also tested to determine whether it functions properly. A fully functional used product 103 is classified as reused, while a non-functional used product is classified as recycled. It is also preferable to determine whether the product can be repaired, albeit imperfectly, and reused. In this case, if repair is economically feasible, the product is classified as reused, and if repair is economically unfeasible, the product is classified as recycled.
[0046] (Used Product Recovery Device 1: Data Erasure Unit 7) The data erasure unit 7 has a function of executing a data erasure process on electronic devices whose used products 103 have been determined by the status determination unit 6 to be reusable. The data erasure process complies with international data protection regulations, such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Based on these regulations, erasure methods such as multiple data overwrites, physical destruction (particularly destruction of memory chips and hard drives), or magnetic erasure (magnetic erasure of data) are applied to ensure the erasure of all data. This enables the data erasure unit 7 to erase data stored on reusable electronic devices that will be repaired and sold, among the used products 103 that the user 102 wishes to collect. In addition, the used product 103 whose parts have been physically destroyed will have the destroyed parts replaced and will be reused as a reused product.
[0047] The data erasure unit 7 also has the function of performing a final verification test to ensure that the data has been completely erased. Furthermore, after the data erasure is complete, the data erasure unit 7 has the function of generating a detailed erasure report, recording and storing erasure report information to prove the accuracy and completeness of the data erasure, and notifying the user 102 that the data erasure has been successfully completed.
[0048] Although not shown in the drawings, there are no particular restrictions on the method of erasure as long as data is completely erased from an electronic device whose state is determined by the state determination unit 6 to be a recycled product. That is, data may be erased by a data erasure process or by physical disassembly and / or crushing.
[0049] (Used product recovery device 1: communication unit 2) The communication unit 2 has a function of executing a process for exchanging data and information of the used product recovery device 1 with external devices, and is configured to transmit to the external device 106 association information that associates the used product 103 with the user 102. Here, the "association information that associates the used product 103 with the user 102" is information for associating the identity and transaction details of the user 102 who provided the used product 103 with the specific used product 103. Examples of the association information include personal information such as the ID, name, and contact information of the user 102 who provided the used product 103; detailed information such as the type, brand, model, and condition of the used product 103; date and time information indicating which user 102 provided the used product 103 and when; and reward information indicating the reward details.
[0050] The communication unit 2 also supports various network protocols and communication standards, maintaining compatibility with different systems and devices and enabling smooth collaboration with various external devices. Specifically, the communication unit 2 is connectable to the Internet 104 via Ethernet or wireless LAN (Wi-Fi), enabling data exchange between the used product recovery device 1 and an external device 106, such as an external server, a cloud-based system, or another remote device. This allows the used product recovery device 1 to upload and download data, update software, apply security patches, and more. The communication unit 2 also uses short-range wireless communication technology, such as Bluetooth (registered trademark), to enable data exchange between the used product recovery device 1 and a nearby user terminal 101. This allows a user 102 to exchange information with the used product recovery device 1 using the user terminal 101, such as a smartphone or tablet.
[0051] More specifically, the communication unit 2 includes an association information providing unit 21, a communication establishment unit 22, and an authentication unit 23. The association information providing unit 21 has a function of providing association information indicating an association between a user 102 authenticated by the authentication unit 23 and a reused item that the user 102 wishes to collect to an external device 106 that is involved in confirming data erasure of the reused item. The communication establishment unit 22 has a function of establishing communication with the user terminal 101. Specifically, the communication establishment unit 22 has a function of establishing a communication link between the user terminal 101 and the external device 106 using Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or a wired Ethernet connection. When establishing communication, the communication establishment unit 22 uses an encryption protocol such as SSL / TLS to protect the security of data being transmitted and received, thereby minimizing the risk of user information and operation data being leaked to the outside. Furthermore, when the user 102 uses the used product recovery device 1, the communication establishment unit 22 has the function of working in conjunction with the authentication unit 23 to verify the identity of the user 102, supporting the exchange of authentication information, and providing an environment in which the user 102 can safely use the service. Furthermore, once communication is established, the communication establishment unit 22 has the function of continuously monitoring the communication status and automatically attempting to reconnect if the communication is interrupted, thereby maintaining a stable communication status.
[0052] The authentication unit 23 has a function for authenticating the user 102 and manages the authentication process of the user 102 to ensure safety and security when the user 102 uses the used product recovery device 1. Specifically, before the user 102 uses the used product recovery device 1, the user 102 confirms their identity by combining one or more authentication elements, such as an ID card, biometric authentication (fingerprint authentication, facial authentication, etc.), or a password. Through this authentication process, the authentication unit 23 prevents unauthorized access and misuse, thereby protecting the data of the user 102 and ensuring the security of the used product recovery device 1. The authentication unit 23 preferably has a function for recording all authentication procedures performed by the user 102 and monitoring and analyzing abnormal authentication procedures and patterns. It is preferable that this monitoring and analysis be performed using machine learning or generative AI.
[0053] It is preferable that the authentication be facial recognition. This is because facial recognition is particularly effective in preventing counterfeit apps and the like. Furthermore, facial recognition is likely to be useful not only for preventing counterfeit apps and the like, but also for verifying identity with photo ID (excluding minors, blacklisted sellers, etc.). Furthermore, authentication not only identifies the recipient of the data erasure completion report, but also makes it possible to prevent false declarations about the used products 103. Furthermore, the inspection procedure for the used products 103 may be simplified depending on the credibility of each user 102 obtained through authentication.
[0054] (Used product recovery device 1: Reward unit 4) The "reward unit 4" has a function of managing the granting of rewards to users 102 when used products 103 are recovered. Specifically, the reward unit 4 includes a credit information acquisition unit 42 that acquires credit information of authenticated users 102 (authenticated users) who have been authenticated by the authentication unit 23, an assessment unit 43 that assesses the purchase price of the used products 103, and a compensation provision unit 41 that provides the authenticated users 102 with compensation equivalent to part or all of the purchase price when the data erasure unit 7 erases data and separates reused products from recycled products.
[0055] The credit information acquisition unit 42 has a function of collecting and managing credit information of authenticated users 102, and is capable of evaluating the reliability and creditworthiness of users 102 when they use the reward system and determining appropriate rewards based on the evaluation. Specifically, the credit information acquisition unit 42 has a function of acquiring credit information from users 102 who have undergone facial authentication in the authentication unit 23, for example, through databases provided by related financial institutions and credit information agencies. Here, "credit information" refers to information on creditworthiness, and includes the payment history, previous transaction records, credit score, etc. of the user 102.
[0056] The credit information acquisition unit 42 has a function of evaluating the creditworthiness of the user 102 based on the acquired credit information and a function of calculating a credit evaluation value as an index for predicting the reliability of a transaction based on the user 102's past trustworthy transactions. The credit information acquisition unit 42 also has a function of determining the type of reward and the amount to be provided by the consideration provision unit 4142 based on the user's credit information, so that users 102 with higher credit information are provided with better terms. Furthermore, the credit information acquisition unit 42 has a function of updating the credit information in real time, allowing the reward system to operate based on the latest data, enabling real-time processing to ensure that rewards are provided promptly and appropriately. If the user 102 does not have enough credit to immediately pay the full amount of the reward, a partial reward may be paid to the user 102, and the remaining reward (or the full amount) may be paid after the product has been sent to an external institution such as a reuse factory or a recycling factory for inspection. In addition, in the case of a first transaction or when no credit has been accumulated, the full reward may be paid after the product has been sent to an external institution such as a reuse factory or a recycling factory for inspection.
[0057] The credit information acquisition unit 42, which has the above functions, enables appropriate rewards to be provided to the user 102 for trustworthy behavior. The credit information acquisition unit 42 preferably has a function for acquiring credit information for the immediately provided consideration, which is consideration that can be provided to the authenticated user 102 on the spot, including an upper limit on the ratio of the immediately provided consideration to at least one of the upper limit on the immediately provided consideration or the purchase price. By setting the upper limit and ratio of the immediately provided consideration based on the user 102's credit information, the reward unit 4 can efficiently manage funds without taking on excessive risk, thereby reducing the risk of economic loss and providing an immediately provided reward to the user 102. Furthermore, since the immediately provided consideration can be provided to the user 102 immediately, the satisfaction of the user 102 is improved, and the user 102's motivation to continue using the used product recovery service provided by the used product recovery device 1 can be increased. Furthermore, the credit information acquisition unit 42 updates the credit information and adjusts the immediately provided consideration in real time, thereby speeding up and streamlining the payment process.
[0058] The assessment unit 43 has a function of executing a calculation process to calculate a remuneration amount for each used product 103 based on the condition information of the used product 103 provided by the condition assessment unit 6. In the calculation process, the remuneration is calculated based on the type, brand, model, condition, market value, etc. of the used product 103. Note that a high remuneration is set for reusable used products 103 because they are evaluated as having a relatively high market value, while a low remuneration is set for recycled products taking into consideration processing costs.
[0059] Incidentally, in the recovery of resources from recycled products, unlike reused products, which tend to be more valuable the newer the model, older products that contain a greater amount of valuable materials, such as precious metals and rare metals, may be more valuable. In consideration of this situation, in order to ensure that a remuneration is paid that reflects the type, amount used, content rate, etc. of the valuable materials contained in the recycled product, when calculating the remuneration amount for the used product 103, which is a recycled product, the assessment unit 43 preferably calculates the remuneration amount based on the analysis results of each valuable material component obtained by recycling the used product 103, the weight of the used product 103, and the unit price by weight of each component.
[0060] To improve the accuracy of such calculations, the assessment unit 43 preferably calculates the above-mentioned analysis results based on a machine learning model that has been pre-trained using training data that includes the type of used product 103 as an explanatory variable and the analysis results of each valuable material component obtained by recycling that type of used product 103 as a target variable. Furthermore, to directly calculate the remuneration amount while improving the accuracy of such calculations, the assessment unit 43 preferably calculates the above-mentioned remuneration amount based on a machine learning model that has been pre-trained using training data that includes the type of used product 103 as an explanatory variable and the remuneration amount based on the analysis results of each valuable material component obtained by recycling that type of used product 103 as a target variable. This allows the used product recovery device 1 to contribute to the construction of a system that purchases all recyclable used products 103 at an appropriate price, something that cannot be achieved with a simple used electronic device recovery device.
[0061] The consideration provision unit 41 has a function of executing a reward provision process that provides a reward in various forms, such as cash, electronic money, points, discount coupons, and donations. In the reward provision process, it is preferable that one or more reward forms can be selected according to the user's 102's preferences and needs. For example, if a reward of 10,000 yen is determined, it is preferable that the user can select from the following reward forms and amounts: 3,000 yen in cash, 5,000 yen in electronic money, and 2,000 yen in points. Furthermore, it is preferable that the consideration provision unit 41 provides a reward on the spot when, as a result of authentication by the authentication unit 23, credit information is acquired indicating that the authenticated user 102 is worthy of receiving a reward on the spot.
[0062] Furthermore, the compensation provision unit 41 has a function of executing a granting process to automatically grant the calculated reward to the user's 102 account, such as a bank account. Here, an "account" refers to a digital account established for each user 102 within a specific service or system, and is used to manage the user's 102 identity, transaction history, balance, points, etc. For example, in the system of the used product recovery device 1, an account has access control via a user ID and password, a function for selecting and managing the form of reward (cash equivalent, points, coupons, etc.), and a function for checking past transaction history and reward status. The account is integrated into the service platform or application, and the user 102 can log in to access their information and check their reward. Furthermore, the compensation provision unit 41 has a function of executing a process to send a confirmation message to the user 102 via email, app notification, or SMS (Short Message Service) after the reward is granted to the account.
[0063] (Used product recovery device 1: external device 106) The "external device 106" is a device or system that receives, uses, and manages information obtained from the used product recovery device 1. The external device 106 also includes a terminal device that enables the user 102 to check their account. Specific examples of the external device 106 include a data management system that collects, stores, and analyzes various data (user information, type of used product 103, processing status, etc.) sent from the used product recovery device 1, a recycling processing facility that specifically disassembles and reprocesses used products 103 determined to be recyclable, a store or online platform reuse retailer that resells used products 103 determined to be reusable, a credit information agency that provides credit information on the user 102, and a payment system provider that processes financial transactions.
[0064] (Effects of the Used Product Recovery Device 1) As described above, the used product recovery device 1 reduces the amount of waste and maximizes the use of reusable resources through the appropriate classification and recycling of used products 103. As a result, it contributes to reducing waste and promoting recycling, thereby reducing the burden on the environment. Furthermore, because users 102 can easily provide used products 103 and receive appropriate compensation, it can encourage users 102 to more actively participate in recycling and reuse activities. The used product recovery device 1 is not only used to recover used products 103, which are simply second-hand goods, but can also learn and purchase items that have been pre-analyzed for the components of all recyclable materials (a so-called used product recovery drone).
[0065] (Used product recovery device 1: hardware configuration) An example of hardware that realizes the functions of the used product recovery device 1 will be described. As shown in Fig. 3, the used product recovery device 1 has a control unit 112, which is a computer, and realizes each function of the used product recovery device 1 by having the control unit 112 execute the used product recovery program of Fig. 14. A communication unit 110, a display unit 113, an input unit 114, and a memory unit 115 are connected to the control unit 112.
[0066] The communication unit 110 enables data communication between the used product recovery apparatus 1 and the external device 106 and the user terminal 101. Specifically, the communication unit 110 has a network interface card (NIC) and is capable of connecting to the Internet 104 via an Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi through wired and wireless network connections. The communication unit 110 also has a Bluetooth (registered trademark) module for realizing short-range wireless communication, enabling data exchange with a nearby user terminal 101. This allows the user 102 to directly communicate with the used product recovery apparatus 1 using the user terminal 101, such as a smartphone or tablet terminal, and exchange various information, such as self-reported information.
[0067] The communication unit 110 preferably includes a security module for encrypting and authenticating data. The security module ensures the security of data transmitted and received using SSL / TLS protocols and can prevent unauthorized access by utilizing a firewall function and an intrusion detection system (IDS). By connecting the communication unit 110 to the control unit 112 of the used product recovery machine 1, the communication unit 110 enables real-time data exchange and remote management between the used product recovery machine 1 and the external device 106, and also enables short-range communication with the user 102.
[0068] The display unit 113 allows the user 102 to visually view various information, and the input unit 114 allows the user 102 to input information. Specifically, the display unit 113 uses a liquid crystal display (LCD) or a light-emitting diode (LED) display and has a touch screen function. The input unit 114 has a physical keyboard and a touch panel display for the user 102 to input letters and numbers.
[0069] The input unit 114 has a barcode scanner for inputting identification information of the used product 103, and an RFID reader for reading the RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) tag of the used product 103. The input unit 114 also has a USB port for connecting to an external device. This makes it possible to import data from, for example, a flash memory, and can be connected to the used product 103 via a USB cable and used to determine whether the product is a reused product. Furthermore, the input unit 114 may have a wireless interface such as wireless communication (Bluetooth or Wi-Fi) so that it can be connected to the used product 103, such as a smartphone or tablet device.
[0070] The storage unit 115 stores data related to the collection of used products 103 and a used product collection program. Specifically, the storage unit 115 stores data such as the type, condition, user information, and collection date and time of the used products 103, as well as data such as the remuneration amount and payment status for the user 102. Details of the stored data and the used product collection program will be described later.
[0071] The control unit 112 is connected to a first camera 111 that captures a facial image of the user 102 for facial authentication. The facial image captured by the first camera 111 is transmitted to the control unit 112 and processed by a facial authentication algorithm, enabling rapid identification of the user 102. The first camera 111 has a high-resolution CMOS sensor for capturing high-quality images and a lens with a wide viewing angle for accurately capturing the entire face of the user 102. The first camera 111 also has an LED light, enabling facial authentication of the user 102 even in dark environments such as at night or in the evening. The first camera 111 also has an approach detection sensor that detects the user 102 when the user 102 approaches the used product recovery device 1 and initiates an image capture operation.
[0072] The control unit 112 is connected to the lighting unit 117. The lighting unit 117 is configured to illuminate the outside from the used product recovery device 1. The lighting unit 117 allows the user 102 to easily find the used product recovery device 1 from a distance, even in the dark, improves visibility when the user 102 inserts used products 103, and enables various operations to be performed smoothly. The lighting unit 117 has a high-brightness LED light and a dimming function that allows the brightness of the light to be adjusted as needed. Note that the lighting unit 117 may be controlled by the control unit 112 to be turned on and off depending on the ambient brightness and the time of day, or a sensor may detect when the user 102 approaches the used product recovery device 1 and automatically increase the light intensity of the lighting unit 117. Alternatively, the lighting unit 117 may be normally turned off and turned on only when the user 102 approaches the used product recovery device 1.
[0073] The control unit 112 is connected to a second camera 125 that captures an image of the appearance of the used product 103 and a scale 124 that measures the weight of the used product 103. The second camera 125 and the scale 124 are provided in a collection box 126 that constitutes the used product storage unit 8. The collection box 126 is provided with a collection door 127, and when the user 102 opens the collection door 127 and places the used product 103 in the collection box 126, the appearance and weight are measured when the collection door 127 is closed. It is preferable that the collection door 127 is set not to open until authentication by the authentication unit 23 is successful. This is to prevent tampering.
[0074] The second camera 125 is used to evaluate the condition of the used product 103 and perform appropriate processing and classification, and takes high-resolution images of the appearance of the used product 103, enabling detailed evaluation of scratches, dents, the degree of damage, etc. Specifically, the image data of the used product 103 taken by the second camera 125 is sent to the control unit 112 and analyzed by the condition determination unit 6. Then, based on the analysis results, it is determined whether the used product 103 should be reused as a reused product or whether the materials should be recovered as a recycled product.
[0075] The second camera 125 has a high-resolution CMOS sensor and a wide-angle lens. The second camera 125 also has an LED light, enabling it to capture clear images of the exterior even in dark environments. It is preferable that the second camera 125 be mounted on a mounting system that allows the camera's shooting position and angle to be adjusted.
[0076] The weighing scale 124 is equipped with a load cell that accurately measures the weight of the used product 103 placed in the collection box 126. The measured weight data is transmitted to the control unit 112 and analyzed by the status determination unit 6. Specifically, the measured weight is compared with the specified weight listed in the specifications corresponding to the product number of the used product 103. If there is a discrepancy of more than a predetermined threshold, the used product 103 is determined to be a recyclable product because some parts are missing or because parts other than the genuine parts are used. The amount of precious and rare metals used in the used product 103 is then estimated from the total weight of the used product 103 and used as basic data for calculating the reward to be awarded to the user 102. Note that this calculation of reward is also performed when the used product 103 is determined to be a recyclable product based on product condition information obtained through visual inspection or self-reported information.
[0077] The control unit 112 is connected to the transport mechanism 123 of the used product storage unit 8 and is capable of controlling the operation of the transport mechanism 123. The transport mechanism 123 is configured to sort the used products 103 placed in the collection box 126 to the reuse product storage mechanism 119 if they are reused products, and to the recycled product storage mechanism 121 if they are recycled products. The reuse product storage mechanism 119 is capable of storing multiple reuse products. On the other hand, the recycled product storage mechanism 121 is capable of storing multiple recycled products. The reuse product storage mechanism 119 is provided with a first full detection sensor 120 that detects when the reuse product storage mechanism 121 is full. On the other hand, the recycled product storage mechanism 121 is provided with a second full detection sensor 122 that detects when the reuse product storage mechanism 121 is full. The first full detection sensor 120 and the second full detection sensor 122 are connected to the control unit 112 and are configured to output a first full detection signal and a second full detection signal, respectively, to the control unit 112, which indicate that the sensors are full.
[0078] The control unit 112 lowers the loading plate 1195 in Figure 8 by a predetermined amount each time the first full detection signal is input from the first full detection sensor 120, and when the loading plate 1195 reaches the lower end position and the first full detection signal is input, it determines that the storage member 1191 of the reused item storage mechanism 119 is full, sends a full notification signal to the external device 106 to notify it to remove the reused items from the used product recovery device 1 and recover them, and fixes the recovery door 127 in a closed position to refuse to accept used products 103 in the used product recovery device 1.
[0079] In addition, the control unit 112 determines that the storage member 1211 of the recycled product storage mechanism 121 is full when a second full detection signal is input from the second full detection sensor 122, and sends a full notification signal to the external device 106 to notify it to remove the recycled products from the used product recovery device 1 and recover them, and also fixes the recovery door 127 in a closed position to refuse to accept used products 103 in the used product recovery device 1.
[0080] The sensors used for the first full detection sensor 120 and the second full detection sensor 122 may be a photoelectric sensor that detects a full state when a light beam is blocked when reused or recycled items are piled up to a certain level, an ultrasonic sensor that detects a full state when a reused or recycled item approaches the sensor and the distance drops below a certain level, a pressure sensor that detects a full state when a reused or recycled item exceeds a certain weight or pressure, a capacitance sensor that detects a full state when a reused or recycled item comes close to the sensor, or a laser sensor that detects a full state when a reused or recycled item blocks a laser beam.
[0081] The reused product storage mechanism 119 is provided with a data erasure device 118. The data erasure device 118 has the function of erasing data from reused products stored in the reused product storage mechanism 119. Specifically, if the used products 103 are capable of data communication between the data erasure device 118 and the reused products via the Internet 104, the data erasure device 118 may perform multiple data overwrite processes to completely erase the data from the reused products, or may perform a data erasure process using data erasure software that complies with international standards. On the other hand, if the data erasure device 118 is not capable of data communication between the reused products and the data erasure device 118, the data erasure device 118 may physically destroy storage media such as memory chips and hard drives. Alternatively, the data erasure device 118 may be destroyed by an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) by creating a magnetically shielded environment around the data erasure location. The data erasure device 118 may also be provided in the collection box 126 or the transport mechanism 123. The data erasure device 118 may also be configured to erase data from recycled products.
[0082] The used product recovery apparatus 1 has a power supply unit 116 that supplies power to each component of the used product recovery apparatus 1. The power supply unit 116 can be supplied with power from a commercial power source and also from a solar power generation unit mounted on the surface of the used product recovery apparatus 1. The power supply unit 116 includes a power conversion unit including an AC-DC converter that converts AC power from the commercial power source into DC power and a DC-DC converter that converts the DC power to a different voltage level, a secondary battery such as a lithium-ion battery, and a smart controller for switching the power supply, monitoring the battery, and protecting against overvoltage and overcurrent. The smart controller has the function of automatically switching between the power supply from the commercial power source and the solar power generation unit. Specifically, when the commercial power source is available, the power from the commercial power source is used first, and the power from the solar power generation unit is used as a supplement. When the commercial power source is unavailable, power is continuously supplied by the solar power generation unit and the battery.
[0083] The used product recovery device 1 is preferably configured to operate solely on the battery (secondary battery) of the power supply unit 116, so that it can function solely on battery power even when there is no power from a power source or solar power generation unit. The battery is preferably replaced with a charged battery periodically, such as once a month, or in response to a battery replacement signal based on the battery's charge level. In this case, the used product recovery device 1 serves as an energy-saving, sustainable recycling drone. Furthermore, the used product recovery device 1 is preferably configured so that the battery and power can be removed externally in the event of a disaster, allowing it to be used as an emergency power source, for example, to charge a mobile phone.
[0084] (Used product recovery device 1: used product recovery management table) As shown in Figure 4, the memory unit 115 of the used product recovery device 1 stores detailed information from the state determination unit 6 and detailed information used by the reward unit 4 in the storage format of a used product recovery management table. The used product recovery management table is a data table for systematically recording and managing detailed information about used products 103 recovered from users 102. This table contains information such as the identification information, product information, weight, awarded points, and the credit rating of the user 102 of the used product 103, and is intended to realize an efficient recovery process and appropriate awarding of rewards.
[0085] Specifically, the data items include a "management number item" which is a unique identification number of the collected used product 103, a "user identification number item" for identifying the user 102 who provided the used product 103, a "reuse / recycle item" which indicates whether the collected used product 103 is a reuse item (reusable) or a recycled item (material recovery required), a "type item" which indicates the type of collected used product 103, a "model item" which is the model number of the collected used product 103, a "model number item" which is the model number of the collected used product 103, a "serial number item" which is the serial number of the collected used product 103, a "weight item" which indicates the weight of the collected used product 103, a "point item" which is points awarded to the user 102 for collecting the used product 103, and a "credit item" which is an index showing the creditworthiness of the user 102.
[0086] For example, when the management number is C001, it can be seen that the user identification number is U001, the reuse / recycle item is reuse, the type is mobile terminal, the manufacturer is M001, the model is T001, the model number is K001, the serial number is N001, the weight is 203 g, the points are 10, and the trustworthiness is 3. When the management number is C006, it can be seen that the user identification number is U006, the reuse / recycle item is recycle, the type is mobile terminal, the manufacturer is M006, the model is T006, the model number is K006, the serial number is N006, the weight is 73 g, the points are 4, and the trustworthiness is 2.
[0087] As a result, the used product collection management table assigns a unique management number to each used product 103, making it possible to accurately track and manage detailed information about each used product 103. For example, for a used product 103 with management number C001, it is possible to see at a glance who provided it (user identification number U001), the product type, manufacturer, model, model number, serial number, weight, awarded points, and even the creditworthiness of the user 102.
[0088] Furthermore, the used product collection management table records points for used products 103, making it easy to manage rewards for users 102. For example, based on information that user U001 with management number C001 has earned 10 points and user U006 with management number C006 has earned 4 points, it is possible to provide appropriate rewards to each user 102. Furthermore, this point system allows users 102 to receive specific rewards for donating used products 103, which can increase the motivation of users 102 to participate in recycling and reuse.
[0089] For example, a used product 103 (mobile terminal) with management number C001 is classified as a reused product, and user U001 has earned 10 points and a credit rating of 3. Based on this data, it is possible to provide appropriate rewards to user U001 and encourage future reuse activities. Also, a used product 103 (mobile terminal) with management number C006 is classified as a recycled product, and user U006 has earned 4 points and a credit rating of 2. Based on this data, it is possible to proceed with the recycling process and take action according to the credit rating of user U006.
[0090] Furthermore, the used product collection management table records the creditworthiness of users 102, making it possible to promote trustworthy transactions. For example, it is possible to provide higher points and benefits to users 102 with high creditworthiness, and to pay more attention to users 102 with low creditworthiness. Furthermore, the used product collection management table makes it possible to grasp trends in reuse and recycling by aggregating and analyzing data such as the type, manufacturer, model, model number, and weight of used products 103, and because it records the serial number, model number, and model information of used products 103, if a problem occurs with a specific product, it makes it possible to track the product's history to identify the cause and take measures, thereby enabling product quality assurance and traceability.
[0091] 5, the memory unit 115 of the used product recovering device 1 stores detailed information for managing the data erasure status of each used product 103 in the storage format of a data erasure status management table. Specifically, the data erasure status management table has as data items a "management number item" which is the unique identification number of each used product 103, a "usage date and time item" which indicates the date and time when the used product 103 used the used product recovering device 1, a "device identification number item" which is the identification number of the used product recovering device 1, a "data erasure item" which indicates the progress of data erasure with a status of "completed" or "incomplete," and an "erasure contact item" which indicates whether an erasure contact has been made when data erasure is completed with "completed" indicating contact completion or "blank" indicating contact incomplete.
[0092] For example, for the management number C001, it can be seen that the usage date and time was 15:12 on April 1, 2024, the device identification number is M001, data erasure was completed, and an erasure notification has been sent. Also, for the management number C003, it can be seen that the usage date and time was 17:00 on April 1, 2024, the device identification number is M003, data erasure was incomplete, and the erasure notification is (blank).
[0093] The data erasure status management table thus enables data erasure progress management, allowing the progress of data erasure for each used product 103 to be grasped at a glance. For example, it can be seen that data erasure has been completed for used products 103 with control numbers C001 and C002, but not for control number C003. Furthermore, the data erasure status management table records the contact status after data erasure is complete, making it possible to confirm whether erasure notification has been completed. For example, it can be seen that erasure notification has been completed for control number C001, but that notification has not been completed for other used products 103 with control numbers (C002, C008) that have completed erasure. Furthermore, the data erasure status management table not only allows for checking usage history, but also identifies used products 103 (C003) for which data erasure has not been completed, enabling prompt action to be taken, thereby minimizing data security risks.
[0094] (Used product recovery machine 1: User point and credit rating management table) As shown in Figure 6, the memory unit 115 of the used product recovery machine 1 stores data in the form of a user point and credit rating management table indicating the identification information, credit rating, and total points of users 102 who have used the used product recovery machine 1. This table plays an important role in tracking and managing the actions and credit information of users 102 participating in the used product recovery program.
[0095] Specifically, the user points / creditworthiness management table has as data items the "user identification number item," which is an identification number uniquely assigned to each user 102, the "user information item," which indicates detailed information about the user 102 (such as name and account information), the "creditworthiness" which is an indicator of the creditworthiness of each user 102, and the "total points item," which is the total of points each user 102 has earned through used product collection activities.
[0096] For example, it can be seen that user 102 with user identification number U001 has user information YU001, a credit rating of 3, and a total number of points of 120. It can also be seen that user 102 with user identification number U005 has user information YU005, a credit rating of 2, and a total number of points of 3001. From this result, it can be seen that user 102 with user identification number U005 has a very high total number of points of 3001, but a low credit rating of 2, and therefore it is conceivable to provide a reuse / recycle support program that encourages specific behaviors to improve credit rating.
[0097] As a result, the user point / credit management table makes it possible to evaluate and manage in detail the reliability and activity status of each user 102 based on the user identification number, user information, credit, and total points, and to provide rewards based on the points acquired by the user 102, thereby encouraging the user 102 to participate in recycling activities by providing rewards and benefits according to the points. Furthermore, it is possible to provide preferential treatment to users 102 with high credit ratings and to pay attention to users 102 with low credit ratings, and by analyzing the total points and credit rating of each user 102, it is possible to grasp the activity trends of the user 102.
[0098] (Used product recovery device 1: mechanical structure) The mechanical structure of the used product recovery device 1 configured as described above will now be described. In the following description, the "Z direction" shown in the drawings is the vertical direction (up and down direction), and the "X direction" is the horizontal direction (left and right direction). Furthermore, the "Y direction" is the horizontal direction (front and back direction) that is perpendicular to the "X direction" and is also perpendicular to the Z direction.
[0099] As shown in Figure 7, the used product recovery device 1 has a housing 213 that is a hollow rectangular parallelepiped. A recovery door 127 is provided on one side of the upper front of the housing 213. The recovery door 127 is provided in front of the front opening of the recovery box 126 shown in Figure 3. The recovery door 127 opens the front opening of the recovery box 126 when used products 103 are placed into the recovery box 126, and closes it when images of the weight and appearance of the used products 103 are taken. A user communication unit 212 is provided on the other side of the recovery door 127. The user communication unit 212 is capable of data communication with the user terminal 101 carried by the user 102.
[0100] Openable / closable doors 214a and 214b are provided on the front surface of the lower portion of the housing 213. The openable / closable doors 214a and 214b are arranged symmetrically and are rotatably supported by hinges at the left and right ends of the housing 213, respectively. As shown in FIG. 8 , a reused item storage mechanism 119 for storing reused items and a recycled item storage mechanism 121 for storing recycled items are detachably provided inside the housing 213 behind the openable / closable doors 214a and 214b. In addition, a sloped member 215 is provided on the front surface of the lower end of the housing 213. The sloped member 215 has a width extending from both the left and right ends of the housing 213 and has a sloped surface 215a that gradually slopes forward from the height of the bottom wall inside the housing 213 to the height of the installation surface. As a result, when the reused item storage mechanism 119 and the recycled item storage mechanism 121 are transported from inside the used product recovery device 1 to the outside, the inclined member 215 enables the mechanisms 119 and 121 to be transported smoothly to the outside without causing any impact to them, even if there is a step between the bottom wall and the installation surface inside the used product recovery device 1.
[0101] The used product recovery device 1 has a transport mechanism 123 inside which, based on the results of identifying the used products 103 carried into the recovery box 126, transports the recycled used products 103 to the recycled product storage mechanism 121 and transports the reused used products 103 to the reused product storage mechanism 119. The recycled product storage mechanism 121 and the reused product storage mechanism 119 are arranged below the transport mechanism 123. This allows the used products 103 transported from the transport mechanism 123 to fall naturally into the recycled product storage mechanism 121 and the reused product storage mechanism 119.
[0102] The recyclable product storage mechanism 121 has a box-shaped storage member 1211. The top surface of the storage member 1211 is open to serve as an inlet for used products 103, allowing the storage of multiple used products 103 to be recycled. A pair of insertion slots 1211a, 1211a are provided on both sides of the front bottom of the storage member 1211. The insertion slots 1211a, 1211a are designed to accept forks of a forklift (not shown). This allows the recyclable product storage mechanism 121 to be transported by a forklift by inserting the forks of the forklift into the insertion slots 1211a, 1211a of the storage member 1211. In addition, rollers 1212a, 1212b are provided at the four corners of the bottom surface of the storage member 1211. The rollers 1212a and 1212b are rotatably supported by horizontally arranged support members, thereby enabling the recyclable item storage mechanism 121 to be moved manually.
[0103] A reused product storage mechanism 119 is disposed to the side of the recycled product storage mechanism 121. Similar to the recycled product storage mechanism 121, the reused product storage mechanism 119 has a storage member 1191 with an open top, which is capable of storing a plurality of used products 103 to be reused. A pair of insertion openings 1191a, 1191a are provided on the left and right sides of the front of the bottom of the storage member 1191. The insertion openings 1191a, 1191a are designed to allow forks of a forklift (not shown) to be inserted into them. This allows the reused product storage mechanism 119 to be transported by a forklift by inserting the forks of the forklift into the insertion openings 1191a, 1191a of the storage member 1191. In addition, rollers 1192a, 1192b are provided at the four corners of the bottom of the storage member 1191. The rollers 1192a and 1192b are rotatably supported by horizontally arranged support members, thereby enabling the reuse item storage mechanism 119 to be moved manually.
[0104] Furthermore, the reused product storage mechanism 119 has an inner storage member 1196 loosely fitted within the storage member 1191. The inner storage member 1196 has an open top surface that serves as an insertion port for the used products 103. A vibration-damping mechanism 1193 is provided between the inner storage member 1196 and the storage member 1191. The vibration-damping mechanism 1193 supports the inner storage member 1196 within the storage member 1191 and protects the used products 103 (reused products) from external shocks and vibrations. Specifically, the vibration-damping mechanism 1193 expands and contracts restorably between the inner storage member 1196 and the storage member 1191, thereby absorbing shock when the used products 103 are stored and reducing external vibrations during movement. For example, the vibration-damping mechanism 1193 may be a damper made of highly elastic rubber or polymer material, or a spring mechanism made of a coil spring or a compression spring. The vibration isolation mechanism 1193 may also be an energy absorber made of a material with high shock absorption capacity, such as polyurethane foam or special shock absorbing foam.
[0105] An anti-slip member may be provided on the inner surface of the bottom of the inner storage member 1196. In this case, the anti-slip member prevents the used products 103 from moving within the inner storage member 1196, reducing the risk of damage.
[0106] An elevator mechanism 1194 for raising and lowering the upper end portion is provided within the inner storage member 1196. Examples of the elevator mechanism 1194 include a screw-driven elevator mechanism, a hydraulic cylinder elevator mechanism, a rack-and-pinion elevator mechanism, and a telescopic elevator mechanism. A loading plate 1195 for placing used products 103 (reused products) is provided at the upper end portion of the elevator mechanism 1194. The loading plate 1195 has substantially the same shape and area as the bottom surface of the inner storage member 1196. As a result, the reused product storage mechanism 119 is essentially in a state where the bottom surface for storing used products 103 can be raised and lowered by the loading plate 1195. Note that the loading plate 1195 is preferably made of a material with shock-absorbing properties in order to absorb the impact when the used products 103 are dropped. Examples of materials for the mounting plate 1195 include high density polyurethane foam, silicone rubber, ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA) foam, and neoprene rubber.
[0107] A second fullness detection sensor 122 and a first fullness detection sensor 120 are provided above the recyclable product storage mechanism 121 and the reused product storage mechanism 119, respectively. The second fullness detection sensor 122 and the first fullness detection sensor 120 are configured to detect when the storage member 1211 of the recyclable product storage mechanism 121 and the storage member 1191 of the reused product storage mechanism 119 are respectively full with used products 103. The reused product storage mechanism 119 is capable of detecting the elevation position of the loading plate 1195, and when the second fullness detection sensor 122 detects fullness, the loading plate 1195 is lowered a predetermined amount. After repeated fullness detection and lowering by the predetermined amount, when the loading plate 1195 reaches the lowest position, it is determined that the storage member 1191 of the reused product storage mechanism 119 is completely full. As a result, the reuse storage mechanism 119 minimizes the distance from the transport mechanism 123 to the loading plate 1195, thereby minimizing the impact on the used products 103 when they land due to natural fall. As a result, in addition to the cushioning effect of the vibration isolation mechanism 1193, the impact reduction effect of minimizing the fall distance makes it possible to prevent damage to the used products 103 that will be reused.
[0108] A mesh- or bag-like storage bag made of a non-shape-retaining material may be provided between the loading plates 1195, or the inner storage member 1196 may be made of a mesh- or bag-like material that does not retain its shape. In this case, the flexible mesh- or bag-like material disperses the energy of an impact, reducing the impact force on the used products 103 and reducing the risk of breakage or damage. Furthermore, using a mesh-like material makes it easier to ensure air flow, making it less likely for moisture to accumulate, thereby reducing the risk of corrosion and mold growth in used products 103 that are particularly sensitive to moisture, such as electronic devices.
[0109] (Used product recovery system 100) The used product recovery apparatus 1 configured as described above is incorporated into a used product recovery system 100, as shown in Figure 9. In the used product recovery system 100, a plurality of used product recovery apparatuses 1, a plurality of user terminals 101, an external device 106, a web server 36, and a database server 38 are connected so as to be able to communicate data via a data communication network such as the Internet 104.
[0110] The user terminal 101 is a terminal device that allows a user 102 to operate the used product recovery device 1 in conjunction with the used product recovery device 1. Examples of such devices include a smartphone, tablet, or personal computer. A data communication network such as the Internet 104 is a network that interconnects the used product recovery device 1, the user terminal 101, the web server 36, and the database server 38, and data transmission and reception and the provision of various services are carried out through this network. Examples of data communication networks include the Internet 104, an intranet, an extranet, a mobile communication network, a wide area network (WAN), a local area network (LAN), a metropolitan area network (MAN), and a satellite communication network.
[0111] The web server 36 processes requests from the used product recovery device 1 and the user terminal 101 and provides related services, allowing the user 102 to check the recovery status of the used products 103 and the user points earned through a web interface. The database server 38 is a server that stores and manages data sent from the used product recovery device 1 and the user terminal 101, and records detailed information about the used products 103, user information, recovery history, point information, etc.
[0112] In the used product recovery system 100 configured as described above, the user terminal 101 communicates with the used product recovery apparatus 1 via the Internet 104 to send and receive operation commands and information. The used product recovery apparatus 1 sends data to the web server 36 via the Internet 104 to provide a user interface and update data. The web server 36 is also directly connected to the database server 38, reading and writing data from and to the database server 38. This enables the used product recovery apparatus 1 to efficiently and safely recover, classify, erase data, and provide rewards for electronic devices and the like, and allows users 102 to easily operate the recovery process using their own user terminal 101 and check the recovery status in real time.
[0113] 10 , the web server 36 is a server that communicates with the used product recovery apparatus 1 and provides various types of information to the user 102. The web server 36 has a communication means 361 that enables data communication between the web server 36 and the external device 106 and the used product recovery apparatus 1, a display means 362 that displays information to the user 102 via a display device or monitor connected to the web server 36, an input means 363 such as a keyboard, mouse, or touch screen that allows the user 102 to input information to the web server 36, and a control means 364 that is a central processing unit (CPU) that manages and controls the operation of the entire web server 36.
[0114] The web server 36 also has a ROM 365 (Read-Only Memory), which is a non-volatile memory that stores the basic programs and firmware of the web server 36, a RAM 366 (Random-Access Memory), which is a volatile memory used to store temporary data and programs when the web server 36 is operating, and a storage means 367, which is a long-term data storage used by the web server 36. The storage means 367 stores data acquired from the used product recovery device 1, as well as the user's 102 account information, history information, used product recycling display control information, etc., and enables the user 102 to check their past transaction history and current status.
[0115] The web server 36 configured as described above has various functions. Specifically, the web server 36 has an account creation function that enables a new user 102 to create an account, a login / logout function that enables the user 102 to log in to an account, start using the system, and log out after finishing use, a password reset function that enables the user 102 to reset a password if the user 102 forgets it, a used product registration function that enables the user 102 to input and register detailed information (type, condition, photo, etc.) of a used product 103, a used product status confirmation function that enables the user 102 to check the collection status and data deletion progress of registered used products 103, and a used product history management function that enables the user 102 to check the history of used products 103 that the user 102 has previously registered.
[0116] The web server 36 also has a points confirmation function that allows the user 102 to check the points he or she has earned, a reward exchange function that allows the user 102 to use the points he or she has earned to exchange them for cash, electronic money, coupons, etc., a points history management function that allows the user 102 to check the history of points he or she has earned in the past, an erasure certificate download function that allows the user 102 to download an erasure certificate for a used product 103 whose data has been erased, a certificate management function that allows the user 102 to manage erasure certificates that have been issued in the past and reissue them as necessary, a collection status notification function that notifies the user 102 when collection of the used product 103 has been completed, a data erasure notification function that notifies the user 102 when data erasure has been completed, and a fullness notification function that notifies the administrator when the reused product or recycled product storage mechanism is full.
[0117] Furthermore, the web server 36 has a help center function that allows the user 102 to refer to frequently asked questions and support information, a usage status report function that generates reports that allow the user 102 to check their own usage status and collection history, an environmental contribution report function that provides reports that show the extent to which the user 102 is contributing to the environment through their recycling activities, a multi-factor authentication function that provides multi-factor authentication for user accounts to enhance security, and an access control function to prevent unauthorized access. As a result, the used product recovery system 100 provides the functions of the web server 36 to the used product recovery apparatus 1 and the user terminal 101 via the Internet 104, allowing the user 102 to use the used product recovery apparatus 1 safely and efficiently, improving convenience for the user 102 and contributing to the promotion of recycling activities.
[0118] (Database Server 38) As shown in Figure 11, the database server 38 is a server that works in conjunction with the used product recovery apparatus 1 and the web server 36 to efficiently manage and store various types of data. The database server 38 has a communication means 381, a display means 382, an input means 383, a control means 384, a ROM 385, a RAM 386, and a storage means 387. The communication means 381 is an interface for data communication between the database server 38 and the web server 36, the used product recovery apparatus 1, and the user terminal 101, and has a function that enables data transmission and reception via a data communication network such as the Internet 104. The display means 382 is a display device connected to the database server 38, and enables the user 102 or administrator to visually check the management status and data contents of the database server 38.
[0119] The input means 383 is an interface such as a keyboard, mouse, or touch screen that allows the administrator to input information to the database server 38. The control means 384 is a central processing unit (CPU) that manages and controls the overall operation of the database server 38, and executes various processes and tasks to ensure stable operation of the entire database server 38. The ROM 385 is non-volatile memory that stores basic programs and firmware for the database server 38. The RAM 386 is volatile memory that is used to temporarily store data and programs when the database server 38 is operating.
[0120] The storage means 387 is a long-term data storage used by the database server 38. For example, in the storage format of the used product collection management table in Fig. 4, information such as the identification information, product information, weight, awarded points, credit information indicating the creditworthiness of the user 102, user input information, purchase price information, and used product recycle display control information of the used product 103 is stored; in the storage format of the data erasure status management table in Fig. 5, information such as the progress of data erasure of each used product 103 and whether or not a notice of erasure has been sent is recorded; and in the storage format of the user point / creditworthiness management table in Fig. 6, information such as the identification information, creditworthiness, and total points of the user 102 is recorded.
[0121] Here, "credit information" is an important data set used to evaluate the creditworthiness of a user 102, and is information indicating the type of transactions and payments the user 102 has made in the past and the degree of trustworthiness based on the transaction history. Specifically, the credit information includes past transaction history, such as the type, amount, frequency, and success rate of transactions made by the user 102. A user 102 who frequently makes transactions and completes them without any problems is evaluated as having a high creditworthiness. The credit information also includes general creditworthiness, such as a credit score and debt status calculated by a credit information agency or financial institution. The credit information is then taken into consideration when determining the purchase price of the used products 103 provided by the user 102, and users 102 with a high creditworthiness will be traded at a more favorable price.
[0122] "User input information" refers to various data that the user 102 inputs into the user terminal 101 via a web form or application. Examples of such information include basic contact information such as name, address, telephone number, and email address; account information required for account creation and login, such as a user name, password, and security questions and answers; product information such as detailed information about the used products 103 to be collected (product name, model number, year of manufacture, manufacturer, etc.); usage information such as the usage history of the used products 103 and their current operating status and appearance (whether or not there are scratches or malfunctions); information specifying the desired date and location for collection of the used products 103; reward information including the type of reward desired (cash, points, coupons, etc.) and the method of receipt; and consent information including the selection of a check box indicating consent to the terms of use and privacy policy.
[0123] Furthermore, the user input information also includes information indicating whether the used product 103 is a reused product or a recycled product. Specifically, examples of the information include reuse / recycle selection information indicating whether the used product 103 collected by the user 102 is in a reusable state (suitable for resale, donation, etc.) or a recyclable product (for the purpose of reusing materials), detailed information on the current state of the used product 103 (whether it works and whether there are any problems with its appearance), user preference information indicating whether the user 102 wants the used product 103 to be treated as a reused product or a recycled product, and, in the case of a reused product, accessory presence information indicating whether accessories such as a charger and instruction manual are included, and repair history information indicating whether the used product 103 has been repaired in the past.
[0124] The "purchase price information" is information showing the specific purchase prices and price lists for reused and recycled products. The purchase price information is calculated based on details such as the condition, type, and brand of the product, and provides users 102 and the like with a clear price standard.
[0125] The "used product recycling display control information" has the function of displaying appropriate feedback and instructions according to the information input by the user 102 and the status of the system. Specifically, it is structured mainly using technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and is used in the interactive portion of the system with the user. For example, it may include questions for assessing the condition and recyclability of the used product 103, the progress of the reuse or recycling process, and rewards related to reuse or recycling.
[0126] This enables the database server 38 to work in conjunction with the used product recovery device 1 and the web server 36 to efficiently manage and store data relating to the recovery, recycling, and reuse of used products 103.
[0127] In the used product recovery system 100 configured as described above, the flow of information between the user terminal 101, web server 36, and database server 38 is shown in the sequence diagram of FIG. 12. Specifically, the user terminal 101 accesses the web server 36 by accepting a connection operation to the web server 36 (S1). The web server 36 accessed by the user terminal 101 requests display control information from the database server 38, and upon receiving the display control information from the database server 38, transmits the display control information to the user terminal 101. The user terminal 101 then displays the display control information (S2). This information flow allows the user terminal 101 to obtain and display information from the database server 38 via the web server 36, thereby enabling the transmission of necessary information (such as the table data in the used product recovery management table of FIG. 4) to the user 102.
[0128] 13 also realizes the flow of information between the user terminal 101, web server 36, and database server 38 in the used product recovery system 100. Specifically, the user terminal 101 accepts user-input information (S3), and when the user inputs the information by operating the user terminal 101, the user-input information is sent to the web server 36 and then sent via the web server 36 to the database server 38. The user-input information is then stored in the database server 38 (S4) through this series of steps, whereby the user-input information is stored in the database server 38.
[0129] (Used product recovery program) Next, we will explain the used product recovery program executed by the computer that is the control unit 112 in the used product recovery device 1. The used product recovery program may be distributed to each used product recovery device 1 in a state recorded on a computer-readable recording medium such as a CD-ROM or USB memory, or it may be distributed to each used product recovery device 1 via a two-way communication network or communication line such as the Internet or a one-way communication network or communication line such as television broadcasting.
[0130] As shown in FIG. 14, the used product recovery program performs a used product process (S10), a full-capacity notification process (S20), and a payment provision process (S30) in parallel through multitasking control.
[0131] Specifically, the used product processing (S10) involves receiving, identifying, and classifying the used products 103. For example, this includes determining the state of the used products 103, acquiring used product information, and classifying the products as reused or recycled. The fullness notification process (S20) detects whether the reused product storage section 81 or the recycled product storage section 82 in the used product recovery device 1 is full. When the first fullness detection sensor 120 or the second fullness detection sensor 122 detects a full state, a fullness notification is sent to the external device 106, and recovery work is performed as necessary. The compensation provision process (S30) provides a reward to the user 102 who provided the used product 103. For example, an appropriate reward amount is calculated based on the creditworthiness of the user 102 and the state of the used product 103, and the reward is provided in the form of points, cash, electronic money, or the like.
[0132] (Used Product Recovery Program: Used Product Processing) To explain each of the above processes (S10, S20, S30) in more detail, as shown in Figure 15A, when the used product processing (S10) is executed, first a communication establishment process (S101) is executed. This establishes communication between the used product recovery device 1 and the user terminal 101, and a used product recovery procedure is carried out between the used product recovery device 1 and the user terminal 101 using the used product recovery app installed on the user terminal 101. Note that if the user terminal 101 has not installed the used product recovery app, the used product recovery device 1 will prompt the user terminal 101 to access the website of the web server 36 and install the used product recovery app.
[0133] Here, the "used product collection app" is a mobile application that assists users 102 in easily collecting their used products 103, such as their electronic devices and household goods, and has various functions. Specifically, the used product collection app has a user registration function that allows the user 102 to create an account by entering personal information such as name, address, and contact information when using the app for the first time, and an authentication function such as facial recognition and password authentication to prevent unauthorized access. The used product collection app also has a used product 103 detail input function that prompts the user to enter detailed information about the used product 103 to be collected, such as the product name, model number, condition (whether it works, whether it is damaged, etc.), and year of manufacture.
[0134] Furthermore, the used product collection app has a collection schedule setting function that enables the user to select the location where the used product collection device 1 is installed and the collection date and time, a status tracking function that enables the user to check in real time which stage of the collection process the used product 103 is at, a reward management function that manages points and rewards awarded for the used product 103 provided by the user 102, and a notification function that enables the user 102 to receive a push notification when the processing of the used product 103 is completed or when a reward is awarded. As a result, the used product collection app enables the user 102 to easily submit used products for collection and receive rewards, and in particular, because the app can be accessed from a mobile device such as a smartphone or tablet, it makes it possible to provide the used product collection service to the user 102 regardless of location or time.
[0135] The used product collection app also has a device search function that uses the GPS function of the user terminal 101 to search for and display the nearest used product collection device 1. As a result, the used product collection app uses the user terminal 101 to display on a map the used product collection device 1 that is closest to the user's current location, allowing the user 102 to receive route guidance to the used product collection device 1. Furthermore, the used product collection app has a collection guidance function that uses the GPS function of the user terminal 101 to display on a map the location of the nearest affiliated store and a repair guidance function that displays on a map the location of the nearest repair shop. As a result, the used product collection app not only allows the used product to be collected by the used product collection device 1, but also allows the user to receive used product collection at affiliated stores and repair services, including paid repair services, at repair shops.
[0136] If a used product recovery device 1 is installed within a predetermined distance, the used product recovery app may indicate the installation location of the used product recovery device 1 so that the used products 103 are recovered by the used product recovery device 1, and if the used product recovery device 1 is installed outside the predetermined distance, the used product recovery app may assist in arranging delivery to a carrier or the like so that the carrier can recover the boxed used products 103. Furthermore, if a recycling company or reuse company is present within the predetermined distance, the used product recovery app may indicate the recycling company or reuse company, or may indicate recovery companies and used product recovery devices 1 that are present around the specified coordinates, i.e., within a predetermined distance from the specified coordinates.
[0137] Furthermore, the used product collection app may have a payment function with a payment gateway function, and by obtaining a Type II Financial Instruments Business license, may have a financial tool function that can process payments directly without going through a third-party payment service. Here, the "payment gateway function" is a service for safely and efficiently processing online payments. Furthermore, the "Type II Financial Instruments Business" refers to the business of soliciting and buying and selling financial products, acting as an intermediary in derivative transactions, etc. It is preferable that the used product collection app also has a function for automatically issuing membership cards within the app, and by obtaining a financial license, also has a function for issuing credit payment cards such as Visa cards.
[0138] Next, an authentication process (S102) is executed. That is, it is confirmed whether the user 102 has legitimate access rights. For example, face authentication or password authentication is performed, and it is determined whether authentication is successful (S103). If authentication is not successful (S103: NO), authentication is deemed to have failed, and this routine is terminated. On the other hand, if authentication is successful (S103: YES), authentication is deemed to have been successful, and then a used product information reception process (S104) is executed. This allows information about the used product 103 provided by the user 102 (product name, model number, condition, etc.) to be input. The reception process is performed by the used product collection app.
[0139] The association data creation process (S105) is a process in which the used product recovery device 1 links detailed information about the used product 103 provided by the user 102 with the user's 102 identification information. This ensures traceability throughout the used product 103 recovery process and enables appropriate rewards and data management. Specifically, the used product recovery device 1 acquires the user's 102 identification information (user ID, name, contact information, etc.) collected in the authentication process (S102) and the used product information reception process (S104). Then, detailed information about the used product 103 (product name, model number, year of manufacture, condition, etc.) is acquired, and a unique identification number (management number) is assigned to the used product 103, enabling tracking of the used product 103 at each stage: collection, processing, and reward allocation. The user's 102 identification information and detailed information about the used product 103 are associated and saved as a single data set, enabling tracking of which user 102 provided which used product 103. The created association data is stored in a database server, thereby enabling centralized management of information required in later processing stages (reuse determination, reward provision, data deletion, etc.). In this way, by executing the association data creation process (S105), it becomes possible to track the entire process from collection of the used product 103 to final processing using the association data.
[0140] Next, a used product discrimination process (S106) is executed to determine whether the used product 103 is a reused product or a recycled product. Specifically, to determine whether the collected used product 103 is a reused product (a reusable product) or a recycled product (a product requiring material recovery), first, used product information is collected, and detailed information about the used product 103 provided by the used product information acquisition unit 5 is collected. For example, information such as the product name, model number, year of manufacture, manufacturer, serial number, physical condition, and functional status is collected. Then, the exterior of the used product 103 is photographed with the second camera 125, and its physical condition, such as scratches, dents, and breakage, is evaluated to confirm any external damage. In addition, the basic functions of the used product 103 are tested, for example, to confirm whether the power can be turned on and off and whether key functions (such as calling and camera functions in the case of a smartphone) operate normally. In addition, it is confirmed whether all necessary parts for the used product 103 are present and functionally normal. For example, it is confirmed whether a battery, charger, accessories, etc. are present.
[0141] After this, based on the collected used product information, the used product 103 is compared with its original specifications (product manual and manufacturer information) to check for any differences between the original state of the product and its current state, and the criteria used are whether there is no major damage and only minor scratches and dents (appearance condition), whether the main functions are operating normally (functional condition), whether all necessary parts are present (parts completeness), and whether the product matches the specifications (product information consistency). If there is major damage, malfunction, missing parts, or a mismatch in specifications, the product is determined to be a recycled product, and a judgment is made as to whether it is a reused product or a recycled product.
[0142] Next, it is determined whether the result of the determination in S106 is a reused product or not (S107). If it is a reused product (S107: YES), a reuse information addition process (S108) is executed, and if it is a recycled product (S107: NO), a recycling information addition process (S109) is executed.
[0143] In the reuse information addition process (S108), information necessary for appropriate reuse as a reused product is added. Specifically, the product information (product name, model number, year of manufacture, manufacturer, serial number, etc.) collected by the used product information acquisition unit 5 is checked, and missing information is added as necessary. Based on the results of visual inspection and functional tests, detailed information on the condition of the reused product is recorded. For example, this information includes information on minor scratches, dents, and functional integrity. This information is used to evaluate the quality of the reused product and to set appropriate prices and sales strategies.
[0144] Furthermore, a unique identification number is assigned to each reused item, a barcode or two-dimensional code for that number is generated and attached to the reused item as a tag, and preparation information required for the reused item to be reused (cleaning, simple repairs, repackaging, etc.) is recorded. Furthermore, based on the condition of the reused item, user points to be awarded to the user 102 are calculated taking into consideration the type, condition, market value, etc. of the used product 103, and are recorded as management information for the user 102 so that they can be checked by the user 102. Then, after the collection door closing / opening process (S113) in FIG. 15B is executed, S114 is executed.
[0145] Meanwhile, in the recycling information addition process (S109), information necessary for proper disposal as a recycled product is added. Specifically, the product information collected by the used product information acquisition unit (product name, model number, year of manufacture, manufacturer, serial number, etc.) is checked, and missing information is added as necessary. Based on the results of visual inspections and functional tests, detailed information on the condition of the recycled product is recorded. For example, this information includes the degree of damage, missing parts, malfunctions, etc. This information is used to properly dispose of the recycled product and to improve the efficiency of the recycling process.
[0146] A unique identification number is also assigned to each recycled product, and a barcode or two-dimensional code corresponding to this number is generated and attached to the recycled product as a tag. This identification number is used to track and manage the recycled product and record the processing process. In addition, the type and amount of valuable materials (e.g., metals, plastics, etc.) contained in the recycled product are recorded in association with specifications and weight measured by a scale 124, and information is added to enable resource recovery during the recycling process.
[0147] Furthermore, details of the various processes (e.g., disassembly, crushing, material classification, etc.) performed on the recycled products are recorded. This ensures transparency in the recycling process and ensures that appropriate processes are performed to minimize the burden on the environment. Finally, based on the condition of the recycled products, user points to be awarded to the user 102 are calculated taking into consideration the type, condition, market value, etc. of the used products 103, and are recorded as management information for the user 102 so that they can be viewed by the user 102.
[0148] As shown in FIG. 15B , after S108 is executed, the collection door 127 is closed by the collection door closing / opening process (S110). The collection door closing / opening process (S110) is the same process as the collection door closing / opening process (S113). Specifically, it is confirmed whether the collection door 127 is securely closed. If the collection door 127 is not completely closed, a warning message urging the user to close the collection door 127 is displayed without proceeding to the next process. The collection door 127 is opened after user authentication is performed before the user 102 deposits the used products 103, and after it is confirmed that the user 102 is an authenticated and legitimate person using an authentication method such as facial recognition. After the collection door 127 is completely closed, it is locked, ensuring that the current process is safely completed before the next user 102 deposits the used products 103.
[0149] After this, a data erasure process (S111) is executed. This process aims to ensure that personal information and confidential information contained in recycled or reused products is erased reliably. Specifically, based on the collected used product information, used products 103 (electronic devices including storage devices such as computers, smartphones, and tablets) that require data erasure are identified. For this purpose, product information (product name, model number, serial number, etc.) acquired by the used product information acquisition unit 5 is used. The data erasure method is selected depending on the type and condition of the used product 103. That is, in the case of software-based data erasure, data is overwritten multiple times using standard-compliant data erasure software. In the case of physical destruction, storage devices such as hard disks and memory chips are physically destroyed. In the case of magnetic erasure, data is erased from the storage device using an electromagnetic pulse (EMP). The data erasure is then confirmed. Specifically, to confirm that the data erasure was performed accurately, data recovery software is used to confirm that the erased data is unrecoverable.
[0150] Next, a data erasure information addition process (S112) is executed. In the data erasure information addition process (S112), detailed information about the data erasure performed in the data erasure process (S111) is recorded, and this information is added to the used product 103. Specifically, the results of the data erasure performed in the data erasure process (S111) are confirmed. That is, it is confirmed that the data erasure was performed accurately and that personal and confidential information has been completely erased. First, the data erasure method (software erasure, physical destruction, magnetic erasure, etc.), the date and time the erasure process was performed, and product information (product name, model number, serial number, etc.) to be erased are collected. Also included is a verification result (e.g., a verification result using data recovery software) indicating that the data erasure was successfully completed.
[0151] Next, a data erasure report is generated based on the collected detailed information. This report contains the erasure method, the erasure date and time, information about the product to be erased, and a verification result indicating the success of the erasure. This report is stored in the memory of the used product recovery device 1 and is provided to the user 102 and related parties as necessary. The contents of the generated data erasure report are added to the used product 103. Specifically, the report is added to the management information of the used product 103, or a barcode or two-dimensional code is physically affixed to the used product 103. In this way, when the used product 103 is reused or resold, information certifying that the data erasure was performed appropriately is attached. The user 102 is then notified that the data erasure has been completed and the detailed information has been added. The notification is sent via email, app notification, or SMS.
[0152] Thereafter, a sorting and transporting process (S114) is executed, and if the used product 103 is a reused product, it is transported to the reused product storage mechanism 119. On the other hand, if the used product 103 is a recycled product, it is transported to the reused product storage mechanism 119. Thereafter, a correlation data sending process (S115) is executed, and the correlation data is sent to the user 102, the external device 106, and the database server 38, after which this routine is terminated.
[0153] 16, when the full notification process routine is executed, first, in order to detect the full state of the reuse item storage mechanism 119, it is determined whether or not a first full detection signal has been input from the first full detection sensor 120 (S201). If the first full detection signal has been input (S201: YES), it is determined that the mechanism is full, provided that the placement plate 1195 has reached its lowermost position. After a full notification signal indicating that the reuse item storage mechanism 119 is full is output to the external device 106 (S202), this routine is terminated. Note that if the placement plate 1195 has not reached its lowermost position, the placement plate 1195 shown in FIG. 8 is lowered by a predetermined amount each time the first full detection signal is input from the first full detection sensor 120.
[0154] If the first full detection signal has not been input (S201: NO), it is then determined whether or not a second full detection signal has been input from the second full detection sensor 122 to detect the full state of the recyclable item storage mechanism 121 (S203). If the second full detection signal has not been input (S203: NO), this routine is terminated. On the other hand, if the second full detection signal has been input (S203: YES), a full notification signal indicating that the recyclable item storage mechanism 121 is full is output to the external device 106 (S204), and then this routine is terminated.
[0155] (Used Product Collection Program: Reward Provision Processing) As shown in FIG. 17 , when the reward provision processing routine is executed, it is determined whether or not the user 102 has been authenticated (S301). If the authentication has not been established (S301: NO), this routine is terminated. If the authentication has been established (S301: YES), a credit information acquisition process (S302) is executed, and the credit information of the authenticated user 102 is acquired to determine the type of transactions the user 102 has conducted in the past and the level of creditworthiness of the user 102. Specifically, information such as the user's 102 past transaction history, payment history, and credit score is acquired from the database of the database server 38. This allows the reliability and creditworthiness of the user 102 to be evaluated. For example, it is confirmed whether the used products 103 collected in the past have been properly disposed of and the remuneration has been accurately paid. It is also checked whether the user 102 has caused any problems in the past, whether there have been any problems receiving the remuneration, etc. Based on this information, it is determined whether the user 102 is trustworthy and to what extent the user is trustworthy.
[0156] Next, it is determined whether the used products 103 have been placed in the collection box 126 (S303). If the placement is not complete (S303: NO), S303 is executed again, and the system waits until the placement is complete. If the placement is complete (S303: YES), a type determination process (S304) is executed to determine whether the used product 103 is a reused or recycled product. Specifically, a process to automatically determine whether the used product 103 is a reused or recycled product is executed based on the product information (product name, model number, year of manufacture, manufacturer, serial number, etc.) of the used product 103 collected by the used product information acquisition unit 5. First, the results of the visual inspection and functional test are confirmed, and the used product 103 is evaluated to determine whether it is in a reusable state. Next, it is determined whether it is suitable as a reused product based on the product's market value and demand. If reuse is difficult or repair is economically impossible, the used product is classified as a recyclable product.
[0157] After this, a purchase price assessment process (S305) is executed to obtain basic information for determining an appropriate price for the used product 103. A purchase price is assessed based on the type, condition, market value, etc. of the identified used product 103, and the amount of compensation to be offered to the user 102 is determined based on this assessment. Specifically, the assessment unit 43 calculates the purchase price taking into account the type, condition, market value, etc. of the used product 103. The assessment is performed by referring to detailed product information (product name, model number, year of manufacture, manufacturer, serial number, etc.) collected by the used product information acquisition unit 5, the results of visual inspections and functional tests, and a current market price database. An appropriate price is derived by also taking into account past transaction data and market trends. A fair purchase price commensurate with the current state of the used product 103 is determined, and a standard for the compensation to be offered to the user 102 is established.
[0158] Next, a consideration payment process (S306) is executed, and the consideration is paid to the user 102 based on the assessed purchase price. Specifically, the consideration is credited to the account of the user 102 based on the determined purchase price. The consideration is provided in the form of cash, points, electronic money, etc., and can be received according to the method selected by the user 102. In the case of cash, the consideration is transferred to a bank account, in the case of points, the consideration is added to a point system, and in the case of electronic money, the corresponding electronic money account is charged. The user 102 is notified of the credited consideration so that the user can confirm it, and the credit can be confirmed on his / her personal page, etc. This allows for smooth collection of the used products 103 and receipt of the consideration, which can increase the user 102's motivation to participate in recycling and reuse. After this, this routine ends.
[0159] (Used Product Recovery Method) Some or all of the steps in the used product recovery program may be implemented by hardware. In this case, the used product recovery method is executed by causing the control unit 112 (computer) to execute the processes (S1), (S2), and (S3) of the used product recovery program.
[0160] (Summary) The invention relating to the first feature of the present invention provides a used product recovery device 1 comprising: an authentication unit 23 that authenticates a user 102 who wishes to reuse and / or recycle a used product 103 having a storage unit in which data input since the start of use is stored; a data erasure unit 7 that erases the data stored in the used product 103; a sorting unit (reused product storage unit 81, recycled product storage unit 82) that separates the used product 103 from which the data has been erased into two or more types including reused products and recycled products; and a correspondence information providing unit 21 that provides correspondence information indicating the correspondence between the user 102 authenticated by the authentication unit 23 and the reused products and / or recycled products to an external device related to confirming data erasure for the reused products and / or recycled products.
[0161] In addition, the invention relating to a second feature provides a used product recovery device 1 comprising: an authentication unit 23 that authenticates a user 102 who wishes to reuse and / or recycle a used product 103 having a storage unit in which data input since the start of use is stored; a sorting unit that separates the used products 103 into two or more types including reused products and recycled products; a data erasure unit 7 that erases the data stored in the used product 103 for each of the used products 103 separated by the sorting unit; and a correspondence information providing unit 21 that provides correspondence information indicating the correspondence between the user 102 authenticated by the authentication unit 23 and the reused product and / or the recycled product to an external device related to confirming data erasure for the reused product and / or the recycled product.
[0162] In the first aspect of the present invention, the sorting unit separates used products 103 collected in a mixed state, including reused products (electronic devices that are repaired and sold) and recycled products (electronic devices that are disassembled and collected for each component or resource), into two or more types, including reused products and recycled products. This allows valuable materials to be recovered from both the reused products and recycled products, thereby minimizing the amount of waste.
[0163] Furthermore, the present invention erases data such as personal information stored in used products 103 collected by the collection device on the spot (inside the collection device) using the data erasure unit 7. This prevents the leakage of data such as personal information stored in the reused products and recycled products even if the reused products and recycled products are stolen during transportation, even though the present invention is configured to store reused products to be sent to a repair shop or recycled products to be sent to a precious metal and rare metal recycler.
[0164] Additionally, the present invention provides, via the association information providing unit 21, association information indicating an association between the user 102 authenticated by the authentication unit 23 and the reused items and / or recycled items that the user 102 wishes to have collected, to an external device involved in confirming data erasure of the reused items and / or recycled items sorted by the sorting unit. As a result, even though the present invention is configured to store reused items to be sent to a repair shop or the like, and recycled items to be sent to a precious metal / rare metal recycler or the like, it enables staff working at the repair shop, the recycler, or the like to confirm the results of data erasure of the transported reused items and / or recycled items and report this to the associated user 102.
[0165] Therefore, the inventions relating to the first and second features can simultaneously recover as many valuable resources as possible from used products 103 that are a mixture of reused and recycled products, thereby minimizing the amount of waste, and dispelling concerns about data leaks, creating an environment in which providers of used electronic devices can provide used products to collection companies with peace of mind.
[0166] The invention relating to the third feature is an invention relating to the first or second feature, and further comprises a credit information acquisition unit that acquires credit information of authenticated users 102 among the users 102 who have been authenticated by the authentication unit 23; an assessment unit that assesses the purchase price of the used products 103; and a compensation provision unit that provides the authenticated user 102 with compensation equivalent to part or all of the purchase price when the data is erased by the data erasure unit 7 and sorted by the sorting unit, wherein the authentication unit 23 performs the authentication using facial recognition technology, and the compensation provision unit provides compensation on the spot when credit information is acquired that the authenticated user 102 is a user 102 who deserves to be provided with compensation on the spot.
[0167] Collection of used products 103 is encouraged by providing at least one of points exchangeable for money, goods, services, etc., or money, etc., as compensation. In such collection, users 102 desire to receive compensation promptly without waiting for inspection of the collected electronic devices at a factory, etc., as used products 103. Prompt provision of compensation can be achieved, for example, by assessing the compensation based on information provided by users 102. However, such assessments raise concerns that users 102 who falsely represent the model, condition, etc., of an electronic device as being better than they actually are may be defrauded of more than the appropriate compensation. Therefore, there is a demand for a system that can quickly provide compensation to trustworthy users 102 while preventing users from being defrauded of more than the appropriate compensation.
[0168] The invention according to a third feature acquires credit information of authenticated users 102 based on reliable authentication results using facial recognition technology. The invention also uses an appraisal unit to appraise the purchase price of used products 103. Based on the acquired credit information, the invention then provides the authenticated users 102 with compensation equivalent to part or all of the purchase price on the spot, only to those authenticated users 102 who are deemed worthy of immediate compensation. This allows the invention to quickly provide compensation to trustworthy authenticated users 102 while preventing fraudulent collection of more compensation than is appropriate. Therefore, the invention contributes to recovering more used products 103 as reused and recycled products from a mixture of reused and recycled products 103.
[0169] The invention relating to the fourth feature is the invention relating to the third feature, in which the credit information acquisition unit acquires credit information for an immediately provided consideration, which is consideration that can be provided to the authenticated user 102 on the spot, including an upper limit of the ratio of the immediately provided consideration to at least one of the upper limit of the immediately provided consideration or the purchase price, and the consideration provision unit provides the immediately provided consideration determined based on the credit information.
[0170] The invention according to the fourth feature not only determines whether an authenticated user 102 is worthy of immediate payment and provides the payment, but also determines the amount of payment to be provided on the spot based on credit information. This makes it possible to quickly provide payment to a trustworthy authenticated user 102 in accordance with their credit, while further reducing the risk of being defrauded of more than the appropriate payment. Therefore, this invention contributes to recovering more used products 103 as reused and recycled products from a mixture of used products 103.
[0171] The invention relating to the fifth feature is the invention relating to the third feature, and provides a used product recovery device 1 further comprising a type discrimination unit that discriminates the type of used product 103, the appraisal unit assessing the purchase price based on the type, and the data erasure unit 7 erasing the data in a procedure based on the type.
[0172] The appropriate data erasure procedure differs depending on the type of electronic device, etc. The invention according to the fifth feature erases data using a procedure based on the type of used product 103 that the authenticated user 102 wishes to collect, thereby erasing data from the used product 103 using an appropriate procedure that differs depending on the type, etc. This contributes to quickly erasing data from the used product 103. In addition, the invention according to the fifth feature can collect more used products 103 as reused or recycled products by assessing an appropriate purchase price according to the type.
[0173] The sixth feature of the present invention provides a used product recovery device 1 for used products 103, comprising a type discrimination unit 61 that discriminates the type of used product 103, a reused product storage unit 81 that stores reused products that have been determined to be electronic devices to be sold after repair among the used products 103, and a recycled product storage unit 82 that stores recycled products that have been determined not to be electronic devices to be sold after repair among the used products 103, wherein the reused product storage unit 81 has a vibration-damping mechanism 1193 that prevents the reused products from being damaged by external vibrations.
[0174] In the sixth aspect of the invention, reused products (reused products), which are electronic devices to be sold after repair, are stored in a reused product storage section 81 having a vibration isolation mechanism 1193 among collected used products 103 such as electronic devices and home appliances. This allows the invention to store the reused products so that their value is not diminished by damage caused by external vibrations, and transport them to a repair shop, etc. This allows the invention to properly collect, store, and transport a wide range of reused products, including reused products that cannot be repaired or maintained by automatic processing.
[0175] On the other hand, such vibration-damping mechanisms 1193 usually increase the manufacturing costs of the reused item storage section 81 and also reduce the space utilization efficiency of the reused item storage section 81. Therefore, if all of the collected used products 103 were stored in the reused item storage section 81, there is a concern that the storage costs would increase and it would not be possible to store many used products 103.
[0176] In this invention, a type discrimination unit 61 separates reused items from recycled items, stores only reused items in a reused item storage unit 81, which has high storage costs, and stores recycled items (recycled items) in a recycled item storage unit 82 that is provided separately from the reused item storage unit 81. This makes it possible to store recycled items in the recycled item storage unit 82, which has reduced storage costs by omitting an anti-vibration mechanism 1193, etc., and minimizes the use of the anti-vibration mechanism 1193, which increases storage costs. Therefore, this invention can simultaneously store and transport collected reused items so that their value is not lost due to damage, and reduce the overall storage costs, including for recycled items.
[0177] Therefore, the invention relating to the sixth feature can achieve both the appropriate collection, storage, and transportation of a wide range of reused items and recycled items related to electronic devices and home appliances, while reducing the overall storage costs, including for recycled items, in the automatic collection of reused and recycled items related to electronic devices and home appliances.
[0178] The invention relating to the seventh feature is the invention relating to the sixth feature, and provides a used product recovery device 1 further comprising a self-reported information acquisition unit that acquires self-reported information, which is information about the used product 103 and is information provided by the user 102, and the type determination unit 61 determines the type of the used product 103 based on the self-reported information.
[0179] Collection of used products 103 is encouraged by offering at least one of points exchangeable for money, merchandise, services, etc. as compensation. In such collection, the user 102 is asked to provide information about the used product 103 in order to assess the compensation. Such information about the used product 103 can be useful for discrimination in the type discrimination unit 61.
[0180] The seventh feature of the invention determines the type of used product 103 based on self-reported information provided by the user 102. This allows the invention to distinguish between reused products among collected used products 103, and store and transport the reused products so that their value is not diminished by damage, while also reducing the overall storage costs, including for recycled products.
[0181] The invention according to an eighth feature provides a used product recovery device 1 according to the sixth feature, further comprising a data acquisition unit (used product information acquisition unit 5, Internet 104, communication unit 110) that acquires data via communication from the used products 103, and the type determination unit 61 determines the type of the used products 103 based on the data. Note that the data acquisition unit may be capable of data communication with the control unit 112 via a communication mechanism (not shown) that is capable of communicating with the reused products stored in the reused product storage mechanism 119.
[0182] Electronic devices are typically configured to be able to provide data identifying the type of electronic device, such as a model number or serial number, via wired or wireless communication. The invention according to an eighth feature uses reliable data acquired from used products 103 via communication to determine the type of the used products 103. This allows the invention to identify reused products among collected electronic devices based on reliable information, and to appropriately collect, store, and transport reused products while reducing the overall storage costs, including for recycled products.
[0183] The invention relating to the ninth feature is the invention relating to the fifth feature, and provides a used product recovery device 1 further comprising a photographing unit (second camera 125) that photographs the appearance of the used product 103, and the type discrimination unit 61 discriminates the type of the used product 103 based on the appearance.
[0184] Electronic devices have a unique appearance depending on their type. The appearance of an electronic device may include a model number, a serial number, and the like. The invention according to a ninth feature uses relatively reliable information, namely, the photographed appearance of a used product 103, to determine the type of the used product 103. This allows the invention to identify reused products based on reliable information, allowing reused products to be stored and transported without losing their value due to damage, while also reducing the overall storage costs, including for recycled products.
[0185] It should be noted that within the scope of the concept of the present invention, those skilled in the art may conceive of various modifications and alterations. Therefore, it is understood that such modifications and alterations fall within the scope of the present invention. For example, even if a person skilled in the art appropriately adds, deletes, or modifies components of the above-described embodiment, or adds, omits, or modifies the conditions of a process, such modifications are also included within the scope of the present invention as long as they maintain the gist of the present invention.
