[0001] HINGE FOR FURNITURE OPTIMIZED FOR OPENING
[0002] The present invention relates to a hinge for furniture optimized for opening.
[0003] In the furniture manufacturing sector, in particular for the furnishing of caravans, campers, boats or truck cabins, hinges for the articulation of a door for closing a corresponding compartment of a piece of furniture about a substantially horizontal axis of rotation, such as those usually used in horizontally extended wall units and the like, are known. Said hinges must allow the movement of the door between a closed configuration, in which it is directed downward to close the corresponding compartment, and an open position, in which it is rotated and raised upward to allow access to the compartment itself.
[0004] These hinges are essentially constituted by a first articulated quadrilateral and a second articulated quadrilateral, which are provided with a first and a second lever in common and have, respectively, an element for coupling to the upper wall for delimiting a compartment of a piece of furniture and an element for fixing to a door for closing said compartment. These hinges are adapted to assume alternatively a closed configuration and an open configuration in which the fixing element assumes two different arrangements with respect to the coupling element, forming an angle of rotation conventionally called “opening angle”, which can vary according to the requirements of the specific application.
[0005] To bear the weight of the door in the open configuration and ensure that the closed configuration is maintained, these hinges must be equipped with first and second elastic compression means, interposed between the elements of the first and second quadrilateral respectively, as described for example in EP 1 736 627 Bl in the name of this same Applicant.
[0006] To achieve an autonomous opening of the wall unit provided with the hinges described above, it is also known to provide gas cylinder actuators interposed between the sides delimiting the compartment of the piece of furniture and the closing door, which act for opening. During opening, it is therefore sufficient for the user to exert on the door a force such as to overcome the initial reaction of the second elastic means and then the action of the gas cylinder actuators accompanies the door until it reaches the maximum opening configuration, without requiring further interventions by the user.
[0007] However, this solution entails the need to purchase and assemble additional components, with a consequent increase in production costs and longer work times.
[0008] Moreover, said gas cylinder actuators create an obstruction inside the compartment of the piece of furniture, reducing its capacity, besides having an unpleasant visual impact when the wall unit is open.
[0009] Last but not least, said gas cylinder actuators tend to lose effectiveness over time, to the point of needing to be replaced.
[0010] The aim of the present invention is to provide a hinge for furniture optimized for opening that is capable of improving the background art in one or more of the aspects indicated above.
[0011] Within this aim, an object of the invention is to obtain an autonomous opening of the doors without the need for the user to accompany the door to the maximum opening configuration and without requiring the use of gas cylinder actuators or other dedicated additional components.
[0012] Another object of the present invention is to be able to obtain a damped opening stroke, in order to avoid sudden movements of the door that could cause impacts and / or unpleasant noises.
[0013] A further object of the present invention is to have a compact space occupation, so as not to reduce the capacity of the compartment of the piece of furniture and not to have an unpleasant visual impact.
[0014] Another object of the present invention is to ensure constant performance over time without requiring maintenance interventions or replacement of components. Another object of the invention is to be able to adapt to doors with different characteristics, especially in terms of weight.
[0015] A further object of the present invention is to overcome the drawbacks of the background art in a manner that is alternative to any existing solutions.
[0016] Not the least object of the invention is to provide a hinge for furniture optimized for opening that is highly reliable, relatively easy to provide and at competitive costs.

In fact, to open the compartment of the piece of furniture when the hinge 1 is in the closed configuration it is sufficient for the user to apply a force to the door 200 in the first step of the movement in the opening direction to overcome the action of the second elastic means 18, while subsequently the door 200 proceeds towards the maximum opening configuration autonomously due to the effect of the action of the first elastic means 17.

CLAIMS1. A hinge (1) for furniture optimized for opening, comprising a first articulated quadrilateral (2), comprising a coupling element (3) which is associable with a fixed wall (100) which forms a compartment of a piece of furniture, a first portion (4a) of a first lever (4) and a third lever (5) which are associated in an articulated manner with said coupling element (3), and a first portion (6a) of a second lever (6), which is interposed between the preceding ones and is articulated to them, a second articulated quadrilateral (11), comprising a fixing element (12) which is associable with a movable door (200) for the opening / closing of said compartment, a second portion (6b) of said second lever (6) and a fourth lever (13) which are associated in an articulated manner with said fixing element (12) and a second portion (4b) of said first lever (4), which is interposed between the preceding ones and is articulated to them, first elastic compression means (17), which act for opening and are functionally associated with said first quadrilateral (2), and second elastic compression means (18), which act for closing and are functionally associated with said second quadrilateral (11), the hinge (1) being adapted to alternately assume an open configuration and a closed configuration, said first, second, third and fourth levers (4, 5, 6, 13) rotating about respective articulation pivots (7, 8, 9, 10, 14, 15, 16) which are substantially parallel to each other and said fixing element (12) varying its own arrangement with respect to said coupling element (3) during movement between the open and closed configurations, characterized in that it comprises an element (19) for the abutment of said first elastic means (17), which is associated with said third lever (5) so that it can tilt about a first oscillation pivot (20), and in that said first elastic means (17) comprise at least one first elastic compression element (21), the mutually opposite ends of which are associated with said abutment element (19) and with said coupling element (3), and at least one second elasticcompression element (22), the mutually opposite ends of which are associated with said abutment element (19) and with said third lever (5), the first and second elastic elements (21, 22) being associated with the abutment element (19) on opposite sides of the first pivot (20).

The hinge (1) according to claim 1, characterized in that said first pivot (20) is associated with said third lever (5) externally on the opposite side of said first lever (4) with respect to the segment for connecting the articulation pivots (9, 10) of said third lever to said coupling element (3) and to the first portion (6a) of said second lever (6).

The hinge (1) according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that said third lever (5) protrudes beyond the segment for connecting the articulation pivots (9, 10) to said coupling element (3) and to the first portion (6a) of said second lever (6) on the opposite side of said first lever (4) so as to form a receptacle (25) for said first elastic means (17).

The hinge (1) according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said first pivot (20) is more distant from the articulation pivot (10) of said third lever (5) and of said coupling element (3) than the articulation pivot (9) of said third lever (5) and of the first portion (6a) of said second lever (6).

The hinge (1) according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said first elastic means (17) are associated with said third lever (5) externally to the segment that connects the articulation pivots (9, 10) to said coupling element (3) and to the first portion (6a) of said second lever (6) on the opposite side of said first lever (4).

The hinge (1) according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said at least one first elastic element (21) lies at a shorter distance from the segment connecting the articulation pivots (9, 10) of said third lever (5) to said coupling element (3) and to the first portion (6a) of said second lever (6) with respect to said at least one second elastic element (22).
7. The hinge (1) according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said at least one first elastic element (21) has a greater elastic constant than said at least one second elastic element (22).

The hinge (1) according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said at least one first elastic element (21) and said at least one second elastic element (22) comprise respective helical springs and in that said at least one first elastic element (21) has a greater number of turns than said at least one second elastic element (22).
9. The hinge (1) according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said first elastic means (17) comprise means (30) for setting the preloading of said at least one second elastic element (22).
10. The hinge (1) according to claim 9, characterized in that said setting means (30) comprise at least one bracket (31) for supporting said at least one second elastic element (22), which is associated with said third lever (5) so that it can tilt about a second oscillation pivot (32) which is substantially parallel to said first pivot (20) and means (33) for adjusting the angular position of said bracket (31) about said second pivot (32).

The hinge (1) according to claim 10, characterized in that said adjustment means (33) comprise a threaded element (34) which is engaged so as to pass through a corresponding threaded hole associated with a crossmember (35) associated with said third lever (5), the shank of the threaded element (34) being engaged in contact with said supporting bracket (31).
12. The hinge (1) according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that it comprises damping means (28) which act for opening and are functionally associated with said first quadrilateral (2).
13. The hinge (1) according to claim 12, characterized in that said damping means (28) are provided with two mutually opposite ends associated with the first portion (4a) of said first lever (4) and with the first portion (6a) of said second lever (6).
