Description

Rib operating device

[0001] The present invention relates to a rib operating device for an umbrella. This application claims priority to Japanese Patent Application No. 2024-159258 filed in Japan on September 13, 2024, the content of which is incorporated herein by reference.

[0002] A normal umbrella used to block sunlight, rain, etc. has an umbrella cloth supported by a plurality of ribs. The ribs include a plurality of main ribs that directly hold the umbrella cloth, and a plurality of receiving ribs that support a middle portion in the extending direction of each main rib. Each base end portion of the plurality of main ribs is connected to an annular upper pulley so as to be radially expandable. Each base end portion of the plurality of receiving ribs is rotatably connected to an annular lower pulley. The receiving rib is rotatably connected to a middle portion of the corresponding main rib, and together with the main rib, constitutes a link mechanism for opening and closing the umbrella.

[0003] In this type of umbrella, the upper pulley is fixed to the upper part of the support column, and the lower pulley is supported by the support column so as to be movable up and down. In the case of a manual umbrella, the lower pulley is operated to move up and down by a person. When the lower pulley is lifted with respect to the support column, the link mechanism formed by the main rib and the receiving rib operates in one direction, and the main rib opens so as to radially expand. Further, when the lower pulley is lowered with respect to the support column from this state, the link mechanism formed by the main rib and the receiving rib operates in the reverse direction, and the main rib closes along the support column.

[0004] In recent years, in this type of umbrella, the opening and closing operation of the ribs is configured to be operable by a motor (see, for example, Patent Document 1).

[0005] The rib operating device described in Patent Document 1 has an upper pulley fixed to the upper part of the support column, and a lower pulley held by the support column so as to be movable up and down. A motor for operating the lower pulley to move up and down is built into the lower end of the support column. A feed screw is connected to the rotation shaft of the motor. The feed screw extends into the support column. A nut that meshes with the feed screw and moves up and down is arranged in the support column. The nut is connected to the lower pulley.

[0006] In this umbrella rib operating device, when the lower runner is in the lowered position, the motor rotates in one direction by operating a switch, causing the nut to rise due to the rotation of the lead screw in one direction, and consequently the lower runner to rise. Conversely, when the motor rotates in the opposite direction by operating a switch from this state, the nut to descend due to the rotation of the lead screw in the opposite direction, and consequently the lower runner to descend.

[0007] Japanese Patent Application Publication No. 8-322622

[0008] By the way, the umbrella rib operating device described in Patent Document 1 is applied to small umbrellas that people carry around. In contrast, it is known that umbrella rib operating devices applied to large umbrellas (parasols) used in commercial facilities and outdoors operate the umbrella ribs by raising and lowering the upper ferrule.

[0009] In umbrella rib operating devices applied to this type of large umbrella, a lifting support is mounted to a fixed base support so as to be able to move up and down. The lower ferrule is fixed to the base support. The upper ferrule is fixed to the lifting support. To raise the upper ferrule, the lifting support is extended upward relative to the base support. To lower the upper ferrule, the lifting support is lowered. When the lifting support is extended upward, the main ribs can be closed along the support by a linkage mechanism between the main ribs and the supporting ribs. Furthermore, by lowering the lifting support from this state, the main ribs can be opened radially by a linkage mechanism between the main ribs and the supporting ribs.

[0010] In such an umbrella rib operating device, for example, when raising and lowering the lifting support column using a feed screw and nut, the feed screw and nut are located inside the base support column. The lifting support column is connected to the nut inside the base support column.

[0011] However, the support poles connected to the nuts are often long and heavy. As a result, the support poles tend to wobble during the raising and lowering operation. This makes it easier for loads to be applied to the nuts. In addition, if external forces such as wind act on the umbrella body (umbrella ribs and fabric), a large moment is likely to act on the nuts. When loads or large moments are applied to the nuts, there is a concern that the nuts may not be able to raise and lower smoothly.

[0012] This invention provides an umbrella rib operating device that can facilitate the raising and lowering of nuts.

[0013] (1) An umbrella rib operating device according to one aspect of the present invention comprises: a link mechanism for opening and closing an umbrella having main ribs and support ribs; a lower runner and an upper runner that operate the link mechanism by relative vertical displacement; a hollow base column to which the lower runner is fixed; a lifting column assembled to be vertically movable inside the base column, and to which the upper runner is fixed at a portion that protrudes upward from the upper part of the base column; a feed screw disposed inside the base column and rotating when driven by force; a nut inside the base column that meshes with the feed screw and moves up and down together with the lifting column in accordance with the rotation of the feed screw; and a guide mechanism that guides the nut in a direction along the axial direction of the feed screw.

[0014] In the umbrella rib operating device of this embodiment, when the lifting support column is raised relative to the base support column, the upper ferrule rises together with the lifting support column. At this time, the main ribs are, for example, in a closed state via the link mechanism for opening and closing the umbrella. When the lead screw receives a driving force and rotates in one direction from this state, the nut that engages with the lead screw descends together with the lifting support column, guided axially by the guide mechanism. At this time, the nut's tilting around the axis of the lead screw is restricted by the guide mechanism. The guide mechanism suppresses the tilting of the nut by the moment acting through the lifting support column. This makes it possible to suppress wobbling during the lifting operation of the lifting support column. When the upper ferrule descends together with the lifting support column, the main ribs move, for example, in the opening direction via the link mechanism for opening and closing the umbrella ribs. Furthermore, when the lead screw receives a driving force and rotates in another direction from this state, the nut that engages with the lead screw rises together with the lifting support column, guided axially by the guide mechanism. In this case as well, the nut's tilting around the lead screw axis is restricted by the guide mechanism. The guide mechanism prevents the nut from tilting due to the moment acting through the lifting support column. As the upper ferrule rises along with the lifting support column, the ribs move, for example, in the closing direction, via the link mechanism for opening and closing the umbrella ribs.

[0015] (2) The guide mechanism may include a cylindrical portion that is positioned radially outward of the lead screw while holding the nut and is connected to or integrally provided with the lifting support column, and a guide portion provided between the inner surface of the peripheral wall of the base support column and the outer surface of the cylindrical portion, which guides the lifting and lowering of the cylindrical portion.

[0016] In this case, the moment acting on the nut from the lifting column is absorbed by the guide through the outer surface of the long-axis cylindrical section. As a result, the guide effectively prevents the nut from tilting due to the moment acting through the lifting column. Furthermore, when the lifting column is raised or lowered, the guide guides the movement while restricting the tilting of the outer surface of the long-axis cylindrical section. Therefore, by adopting this configuration, smooth raising and lowering of the nut can be easily achieved with a simple structure.

[0017] (3) The guide portion may be arranged at multiple locations around the axis of the lead screw, spaced apart from each other.

[0018] In this case, the guides that guide the cylindrical section are positioned at multiple locations around the axis of the lead screw, spaced apart from each other. This makes it possible to minimize the constraint on the cylindrical section by the guides while preventing the cylindrical section from tilting and ensuring smooth axial guidance.

[0019] (4) The guide portion may include a guide rail provided on the outer circumferential surface of the cylindrical portion so as to be aligned with the axial direction of the lead screw, and a restricting member provided on the inner circumferential surface of the base support column, which is in slidable contact with the guide rail and restricts the circumferential displacement of the guide rail. The restricting member and the guide rail may be engaged with each other by grooves and protrusions. The circumferential displacement of the guide rail may be restricted by engagement by grooves and protrusions.

[0020] In this case, the cylindrical portion holding the nut is guided to move up and down by the sliding motion between a guide rail provided on the outer circumference of the cylindrical portion and a regulating member provided on the inner circumference of the base column, while preventing it from tilting. Furthermore, the circumferential displacement of the guide rail is restricted by its engagement with the regulating member through the interlocking grooves. Therefore, the relative rotation of the nut with respect to the base column is restricted by the engagement of the guide rail and the regulating member through the interlocking grooves. Consequently, when this configuration is adopted, the rotation of the nut accompanying the rotation of the lead screw is reliably restricted, making it possible to obtain stable up and down operation between the nut and the lifting column.

[0021] (5) The guide rail may be formed separately from the cylindrical portion and fixed to the outer surface of the cylindrical portion.

[0022] In this case, the guide rail, which engages with the regulating member on the base support side through protrusions and indentations, is made of a separate component from the cylindrical part. Therefore, compared to the case where the guide rail (guide groove, etc.) is directly formed on the outer circumference of the cylindrical part, it is possible to suppress the overall increase in the wall thickness of the cylindrical part. Also, compared to the case where the guide rail (guide groove, etc.) is formed on the outer surface of the cylindrical part, which is a large component, it is possible to process it more easily and with higher precision. Furthermore, even when plating is applied to the outer surface of the cylindrical part, there is no need to mask the guide rail portion, which simplifies the manufacturing process.

[0023] (6) The cylindrical portion may have a slit that penetrates the peripheral wall of the cylindrical portion and extends along the axial direction. A support block may be provided that is connected to the base support column while penetrating the slit and rotatably supports the lead screw.

[0024] In this case, the lead screw is supported on the base column while being rotatably supported by a support block that passes through a slit in the cylindrical section. As a result, the tilting or bending of the lead screw can be restricted by the support block. Furthermore, since the support block that supports the lead screw is connected to the base column through a slit that extends along the axial direction of the lifting column, the lifting movement of the lifting column is not hindered by the support block.

[0025] (7) The guide mechanism may include a plurality of guide rings that slidably contact the inner surface of the peripheral wall of the base column and are spaced apart in the axial direction of the lead screw, and a connecting member that connects the plurality of guide rings while they are spaced apart in the axial direction. The nut may be coupled to or integrally formed with one of the plurality of guide rings.

[0026] In this case, the moment acting on the nut from the lifting column is absorbed by the circumferential wall of the base column through multiple guide rings spaced apart in the axial direction. As a result, tilting of the nut due to the moment acting through the lifting column can be efficiently suppressed. Furthermore, when the lifting column is raised or lowered, the multiple guide rings are guided up and down while their tilting is restricted by the circumferential wall of the base column. Therefore, when this configuration is adopted, smooth up and down movement of the nut can be obtained when the lifting column is raised or lowered.

[0027] (8) The plurality of guide rings may include a main guide ring provided on the outer circumference of the nut, an upper guide ring spaced apart above the main guide ring, and a lower guide ring spaced apart below the main guide ring. The connecting member may include a plurality of connecting columns that connect the main guide ring, the upper guide ring, and the lower guide ring to each other. The plurality of connecting columns may be arranged radially outward of the lead screw and spaced apart around the axis of the lead screw.

[0028] In this case, the three guide rings—the main guide ring, the upper guide ring, and the lower guide ring—are interconnected by multiple connecting columns on the radially outer side of the lead screw. As a result, the three guide rings, which are spaced apart in the axial direction, function as a single block. Therefore, the contact between the three guide rings and the circumferential wall of the base support column allows for efficient regulation of the nut's inclination.

[0029] (9) At least one of the main guide ring, the upper guide ring, and the lower guide ring may be engaged with the peripheral wall by irregularities, thereby restricting the circumferential displacement of the guide ring.

[0030] In this case, at least one guide ring engages with the circumferential wall of the base column through irregularities, thereby restricting circumferential displacement. In other words, the relative rotation of the nut with respect to the base column is restricted by the engagement between the guide ring and the base column through the irregularities. Therefore, when this configuration is adopted, the rotation of the nut accompanying the rotation of the lead screw is reliably restricted, making it possible to obtain stable lifting and lowering operation between the nut and the lifting column.

[0031] (10) Inside the base support column, a partition wall may be provided to separate the space in which the nut is housed from the space above. The upper part of the lead screw may be rotatably supported by the partition wall. Multiple connecting columns may be arranged to penetrate the partition wall in the vertical direction.

[0032] In this case, the upper part of the lead screw is rotatably supported by the partition wall of the base column, so that the tilting or bending of the lead screw due to the load acting on the nut from the lifting column can be efficiently controlled by the partition wall. In addition, since the multiple connecting columns that move up and down together with the multiple guide rings penetrate the partition wall in the vertical direction, it becomes relatively easy to prevent water droplets from entering the interior of the base column from the partition wall.

[0033] (11) The lead screw is made of a trapezoidal screw whose threads are trapezoidal in shape. The lead screw may be provided with a rotation input unit that applies the driving force to the lead screw to rotate it. The rotation input unit may be provided with a speed reducer that reduces the input rotation and transmits it to the lead screw.

[0034] In this case, the lead screw is made of a trapezoidal screw with relatively high contact resistance with the nut. Furthermore, a reduction gear with a large reverse start torque is placed in the rotation input section that transmits the driving force to the lead screw. As a result, even when the support column is raised, and the load of the support column and the umbrella body (umbrella ribs and umbrella fabric) is applied to the nut, the lead screw will not rotate due to that load. Therefore, unintended lowering of the support column can be suppressed without the need to provide a special brake mechanism to stop the rotation of the lead screw. In addition, if a brake mechanism is provided, it can be made smaller.

[0035] (12) The lead angle α of the lead screw is preferably 1° < α < 45°.

[0036] In this case, by setting the lead angle α of the lead screw to 1° < α < 45°, it becomes possible to efficiently transmit torque to the nut without delaying the raising and lowering of the support column. When the lead angle α of the lead screw is 1° or less, in order to raise and lower the support column without delay (within a predetermined time), it is necessary to use an ultra-high rotation drive source (for example, an ultra-high rotation motor). Also, when the lead angle α of the lead screw is 45° or more, in order to raise and lower the support column without hindrance, it is necessary to use an ultra-high torque drive source (for example, an ultra-high torque motor). For this reason, under the conditions that the lead angle α of the lead screw is α ≤ 1° and α ≥ 45°, it is unavoidable to use a large and expensive drive source (for example, a large and expensive motor). In contrast, in this configuration, since the lead angle α of the lead screw is set to 1° < α < 45°, a small and relatively inexpensive drive source (for example, a small and relatively inexpensive motor) can be used. Furthermore, by setting the lead angle α to 1° < α < 45°, it becomes possible to more reliably suppress the unintended descent of the support column due to the weight of the support column and the umbrella body (umbrella ribs and umbrella fabric).

[0037] The umbrella rib operating device according to the present invention has a guide mechanism inside the base support column. The guide mechanism restricts the tilting of the nut around the axis of the lead screw and guides the nut in a direction along the axial direction of the lead screw. Therefore, when the above-described umbrella rib operating device is adopted, the raising and lowering operation of the nut can be made smoother.

[0039] Next, embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. In each embodiment described below, common parts are denoted by the same reference numerals, and some redundant explanations are omitted.

[0040] [First Embodiment] Figures 1 and 2 are front views of the umbrella rib operating device 1 of this embodiment. Figure 1 shows the umbrella ribs in a closed state. Figure 2 shows the umbrella ribs in an open state. Figure 3 is a front view of the lower region of the umbrella rib operating device 1. Figure 4 is a front view of the upper region of the umbrella rib operating device 1. In Figures 3 and 4, some parts are shown with dashed lines to show the internal structure.

[0041] As shown in FIGS. 1 to 4, the umbrella rib operating device 1 is used, for example, for a large umbrella (parasol) installed on an installation surface such as a road surface or a floor surface in a commercial facility or outdoors. The umbrella rib operating device 1 includes a base column 10 fixedly installed on the installation surface and a lifting column 11 (see FIGS. 3 and 4) assembled to the base column 10 so as to be able to move up and down. The base column 10 is fixedly installed on the installation surface such that the axial directions of the base column 10 and the lifting column 11 face the vertical direction.

[0042] The umbrella includes the umbrella rib operating device 1 and an umbrella fabric held (stuck) on the umbrella ribs. The umbrella ribs include at least a plurality of main ribs 14 and a plurality of sub-ribs 15 described later. The umbrella rib operating device 1 is an operating device that moves the lifting column 11 up and down by rotating a feed screw 19, and thereby opens and closes the umbrella ribs (including the main ribs 14 and the sub-ribs 15) via a link mechanism 18.

[0043] An annular lower pulley (lower connecting portion) 12 is fixed to the upper end portion of the base column 10. An annular upper pulley (upper connecting portion) 13 is fixed to the upper end portion of the lifting column 11 that protrudes upward from the base column 10. A bellows tube 9 that can expand and contract in the vertical direction is connected between the lower pulley 12 and the upper pulley ; the bellows tube 9 covers the portion of the lifting column 11 that protrudes upward from the base column 10 from the outside.

[0044] The base ends of a plurality of main ribs 14 on which an umbrella fabric (not shown) is held are connected to the lower pulley 12. The plurality of main ribs 14 are arranged at equal intervals around the annular lower pulley 12. The base end of each of the plurality of main ribs 14 is connected to the lower pulley 12 so as to be rotatable in the vertical direction. The base ends of a plurality of sub-ribs 15 corresponding to the plurality of main ribs 14 are connected to the upper pulley 13. The plurality of sub-ribs 15 are arranged at equal intervals around the annular upper pulley 13. The base end of each of the plurality of sub-ribs 15 is connected to the upper pulley 13 so as to be rotatable in the vertical direction.

[0045] A female hinge 16 is attached to the upper surface of the middle portion of each main rib 14 in the direction of extension. A male hinge 17 is attached to the tip of each rib 15 in the direction of extension. The male hinge 17 is rotatably connected to the female hinge 16 attached to the main rib 14 corresponding to each rib 15. The multiple main ribs 14 and the multiple ribs 15 corresponding to each main rib 14, configured in this way, constitute a link mechanism 18 for opening and closing the umbrella.

[0046] In this embodiment, as shown in Figure 1, when the upper wheel 13 is in the raised position, the link mechanism 18 closes the multiple main ribs 14 so that they narrow upwards. Also, as shown in Figure 2, when the upper wheel 13 is in the lowered position, the link mechanism 18 opens the multiple main ribs 14 so that they spread out radially. In other words, the link mechanism 18 closes the main ribs 14 by pulling up the middle portion of each main rib 14 as the upper wheel 13 rises. The link mechanism 18 opens the main ribs 14 by pushing down the middle portion of each main rib 14 as the upper wheel 13 descends, spreading the main ribs 14 radially.

[0047] In this embodiment, the main rib 14 is connected to the lower thoring wheel 12, and the support rib 15 is connected to the upper thoring wheel 13. However, this is not the only configuration. For example, the opposite configuration may be used, where the main rib 14 is connected to the upper thoring wheel 13 and the support rib 15 is connected to the lower thoring wheel 12. In this case, the rising of the upper thoring wheel 13 pulls the middle portion of the main rib 14 inward, thereby closing the main rib 14 so that it narrows downwards. The link mechanism 18 also opens the main rib 14 by pushing the middle portion of the main rib 14 outward as the upper thoring wheel 13 descends, so that the main rib 14 spreads out radially.

[0048] As shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, the base support column 10 includes a lower support column 10L, an upper support column 10U, and an intermediate support column 10I. The lower end side of the lower support column 10L is fixedly installed on the installation surface. A lower pulley 12 is fixed to the upper end of the upper support column 10U. The intermediate support column 10I connects the lower support column 10L and the upper support column 10U. All of these lower support column 10L, upper support column 10U, and intermediate support column 10I are formed in a substantially cylindrical shape. The lower support column 10L and the intermediate support column 10I are coaxially connected via a flange portion f that abuts against each other. Similarly, the intermediate support column 10I and the upper support column 10U are coaxially connected via a flange portion f that abuts against each other.

[0049] As shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, the elevating support column 11 includes a lower elevating support column 11L and an upper elevating support column 11U. The lower region of the lower elevating support column 11L is accommodated in the base support column 10 so as to be elevatingly movable therein. An upper pulley 13 is fixed to the upper end of the upper elevating support column 11U. Both the lower elevating support column 11L and the upper elevating support column 11U are formed in a substantially cylindrical shape. The lower elevating support column 11L and the upper elevating support column 11U are coaxially connected via a flange portion f that abuts against each other.

[0050] FIG. 5 is a longitudinal sectional view of part V in FIG. 2 of the umbrella rib operating device 1. FIG. 6 is a partial sectional perspective view of the umbrella rib operating device 1 taken along the VI-VI sectional portion in FIG. 5. As shown in FIG. 5, a partition wall 8 is attached between the lower support column 10L and the intermediate support column 10I of the base support column 10. A feed screw 19 (screw shaft) is rotatably supported on the partition wall 8 via a bearing 7. The feed screw 19 penetrates through the center of the partition wall 8 in the vertical direction and protrudes vertically upward from the upper surface of the partition wall 8. The feed screw 19 protruding upward from the partition wall 8 is arranged coaxially with respect to the axial center position of the intermediate support column 10I (base support column 10). <000,0101><000,0102>A spiral thread (not shown) is formed on the outer surface of the portion of the lead screw 19 located within the intermediate support column 10I. A nut 22 engages with the lead screw 19 within the intermediate support column 10I (base support column 10). In this embodiment, the nut 22 has a plurality of balls (not shown) that roll around in the engagement portion with the lead screw 19. Therefore, the nut 22 together with the lead screw 19 constitutes a ball screw.

[0052] The lower end of the lead screw 19, which penetrates the partition wall 8, is connected to a motor 21 via a reduction gear 20, as shown in Figure 3. The motor 21 is fixedly installed within the lower support column 10L of the base support column 10. The driving force of the motor 21 is reduced to a predetermined reduction ratio by the reduction gear 20 to rotate the lead screw 19. The motor 21 can be switched between forward and reverse rotation by operation of a switch (not shown).

[0053] As shown in Figures 5 and 6, the lower lifting support column 11L has a cylindrical region 11La that constitutes the cylindrical portion in this embodiment. The cylindrical region 11La is positioned radially outward of the lead screw 19, holding the nut 22. The nut 22 is fixed to the lower end of the cylindrical region 11La. The cylindrical region 11La is coaxially assembled to the lead screw 19 via the nut 22. In this embodiment, the cylindrical region 11La, which is the cylindrical portion, is integrally formed with the lower lifting support column 11L. However, this is not limited to this case, and for example, the cylindrical portion that holds the nut 22 may be formed by a separate member from the lifting support column 11 (lower lifting support column 11L) and connected to the lifting support column 11 (lower lifting support column 11L) by connecting means such as bolt fastening.

[0054] Figure 7 is a longitudinal cross-sectional view of part VII of Figure 4 of the umbrella rib operating device 1. Figures 8 and 9 are perspective views of part VII of Figure 4 of the umbrella rib operating device 1 with some parts removed. Figure 8 shows the state with the base support column 10 removed. Figure 9 shows the state with the lower side lifting support column 11L of the lifting support column 11 removed.

[0055] As shown in Figures 5 to 9, multiple (three) guide rails 23 are attached to the outer circumferential surface of the cylindrical region 11La of the lifting column 11, spaced approximately equally in the circumferential direction. Each guide rail 23 is formed of a metal plate that has a concave cross-sectional shape opening outward and extends in one direction. Each guide rail 23 is attached to the outer surface of the cylindrical region 11La of the lifting column 11 so that its longitudinal direction is aligned with the axial direction of the lifting column 11. Each guide rail 23 is fixed to the outer circumferential surface of the cylindrical region 11La, for example, by screws. Each guide rail 23 has a recess 23a that opens radially outward. The inner surface of the recess 23a is polished to reduce sliding resistance. A regulating plate 24, which will be described later, is slidably engaged with this recess 23a by its protrusions and recesses.

[0056] As shown in Figures 5 and 6, on the inner circumferential surface of the portion of the intermediate support column 10I that constitutes the base support column 10 located at the lower end, a plurality (three) of regulating plates 24 (regulating members) are fixed at approximately equal intervals in the circumferential direction. The plurality of regulating plates 24 are fixed at positions corresponding to each guide rail 23 attached to the lifting support column 11. Each regulating plate 24 is formed, for example, from a rectangular metal plate.

[0057] Multiple regulating plates 24 are fixed to a thick reinforcing block 25 provided on the inner circumference of the lower end of the intermediate support column 10I. Each of the multiple regulating plates 24 is fixed in a plurality of grooves 25a formed on the inner surface of the reinforcing block 25, for example, as shown in Figure 6. Each groove 25a extends along the axial direction of the intermediate support column 10I. Each groove 25a restrains the circumferential displacement of the regulating plate 24 fixed within the groove 25a. Each regulating plate 24 fixed by the reinforcing block 25 is engaged with the corresponding recess 23a of the guide rail 23 by protrusions and indentations. In this state, each guide rail 23 is in axially slidable contact with the regulating plate 24 and its circumferential movement is restricted by the regulating plate 24.

[0058] As shown in Figure 5, the regulating plate 24 fixed to the intermediate support column 10I engages with the corresponding guide rail 23 by its grooves and protrusions when the lifting support column 11 has descended to near its lowest position. When the lifting support column 11 is raised, the regulating plate 24 does not come into contact with the guide rail 23.

[0059] As shown in Figures 7 and 8, multiple (three) restricting plates 24 are fixedly installed on the inner circumferential surface of the upper support column 10U, which constitutes the base support column 10, similar to the intermediate support column 10I. These restricting plates 24 are arranged on the inner circumferential surface of the upper support column 10U at approximately equal intervals in the circumferential direction. These restricting plates 24 are fixedly installed at positions corresponding to each guide rail 23 attached to the lifting support column 11. Each restricting plate 24 fixed to the upper support column 10U is engaged with the corresponding recess 23a of the guide rail 23 by its protrusions and indentations. In this state, each guide rail 23 is in axially slidable contact with the restricting plate 24 and its circumferential movement is restricted by the restricting plate 24. The restricting plates 24 fixed to the upper support column 10U are always engaged with the corresponding guide rail 23 by their protrusions and indentations, regardless of the height position of the lifting support column 11.

[0060] In this embodiment, a guide rail 23 attached to the cylindrical region 11La of the lifting support column 11 and regulating plates 24 attached to two locations on the top and bottom of the base support column 10 constitute a guide section that guides the vertical movement of the cylindrical region 11La while restricting its tilting. The guide rail 23 and regulating plates 24, which constitute the guide section, are interposed between the inner surface of the peripheral wall of the base support column 10 and the outer surface of the lifting support column 11. Furthermore, the guide rail 23 and regulating plates 24, which constitute the guide section, are arranged at multiple locations around the axis of the lead screw 19, spaced apart from each other.

[0061] In this embodiment, a recess 23a opening radially outward is formed in the guide rail 23. A regulating plate 24 is slidably fitted into the recess 23a. However, this is not the only possible configuration; for example, conversely, a recess opening radially inward may be formed in the regulating plate 24, and the guide rail 23 may be slidably fitted into this recess. In this embodiment, the cylindrical region 11La that holds the nut 22, the guide rail 23 which is a guide part, and the regulating plate 24 constitute the guide mechanism 26. The guide mechanism 26, located inside the base support column 10, restricts the tilting of the nut 22 around the axis of the lead screw 19 while guiding the nut 22 in a direction along the axial direction of the lead screw 19.

[0062] As shown in Figures 7 to 9, the cylindrical region 11La of the lower lifting support column 11L has multiple (three) slits 27 that penetrate the cylindrical region 11La radially. The slits 27 extend along the axial direction of the lifting support column 11. The multiple slits 27 are formed at approximately equal intervals in the circumferential direction of the lifting support column 11.

[0063] As shown in Figure 7, the upper end of the lead screw 19 is rotatably supported by a support block 28. The support block 28 has a bearing 29 at its axial position that rotatably supports the upper end of the lead screw 19. The support block 28 has a plurality (three) of arm portions 30 that extend radially from the holding portion of the bearing 29. Each arm portion 30 and each slit 27 are formed in correspondence with each other. Each arm portion 30 passes through each corresponding slit 27. As shown in Figure 9, the tip of each arm portion 30 that passes through the slit 27 is fastened and fixed to the upper end of the base column 10 (upper column 10U). In this way, the support block 28 that supports the upper end of the lead screw 19 is connected to the upper part of the base column 10.

[0064] When the lifting column 11 moves between its lowest and highest positions, each arm portion 30 of the support block 28 is displaced relative to the corresponding slit 27. As a result, the lifting column 11 can move smoothly up and down without its operation being hindered by the support block 28.

[0065] Next, the opening and closing operation of the umbrella (parasol) by the umbrella rib operating device 1 will be explained. Figure 10 is a front view of the upper area of the umbrella rib operating device 1 when the umbrella ribs are closed. Figure 10 shows the state with the bellows tube 9 and base support 10 removed. The bellows tube 9 and base support 10 are indicated by dashed lines.

[0066] As shown in Figures 1 and 10, when the lifting support column 11 is raised relative to the base support column 10, the upper runner 13 rises together with the lifting support column 11. In this state, the main ribs 14 are closed upwards via the link mechanism 18 for opening and closing the umbrella. In other words, the main ribs 14 are closed so as to narrow upwards. At this time, the nut 22 held at the lower end of the lifting support column 11 (cylindrical region 11La) is located on the upper end side of the feed screw 19, as shown in Figure 10. Also, at this time, in the vicinity of the nut 22 in the lifting support column 11 (cylindrical region 11La), multiple guide rails 23 and a regulating plate 24 located on the upper side of the base support column 10 are in contact with each other. This restricts the tilting of the nut 22.

[0067] From this state, when a switch (not shown) is operated and the motor 21 rotates in one direction, that rotation is reduced by the reduction gear 20 and transmitted to the lead screw 19. Consequently, as the lead screw 19 rotates in one direction, the nut 22 that engages with the lead screw 19 descends. In the initial stage of the nut 22's descent, the nut 22 is guided in the axial direction. At this time, the rotation of the cylindrical region 11La of the lifting support column 11 is restricted by the engagement of the guide rail 23 and the restricting plate 24 located on the upper side of the base support column 10 due to the interlocking grooves. As shown in Figures 5 and 6, as the nut 22 approaches its lowest position, the restricting plate 24 located on the lower side of the base support column 10 also engages with the guide rail 23 due to the interlocking grooves.

[0068] As a result, the nut 22 is guided axially while its rotation is restricted by the engagement between the guide rail 23 and the two restricting plates 24 located at the top and bottom. Therefore, the nut 22 descends smoothly along the axial direction of the lead screw 19 while its tilting is restricted by the guide mechanism 26, which consists of the cylindrical region 11La of the lifting column 11, the guide rail 23, and the restricting plates 24. Even if a large moment acts on the nut 22 through the lifting column 11, the tilting of the nut 22 is suppressed by the guide mechanism 26.

[0069] As the nut 22 descends, the lifting support column 11 descends together with the nut 22, and the upper turntable 13, which is fixed to the upper part of the lifting support column 11, descends together with the lifting support column 11. As a result, as shown in Figures 2 and 4, the support ribs 15 supported by the upper turntable 13 push down the middle part of the corresponding main rib 14, spreading the main rib 14 outwards in a radial pattern.

[0070] Furthermore, if a switch (not shown) is operated from this state and the motor 21 rotates in the reverse direction, that rotation is reduced by the reduction gear 20 and transmitted to the lead screw 19. When the lead screw 19 rotates in the reverse direction, the nut 22 that engages with the lead screw 19 rises along with the rotation of the lead screw 19. At this time, the nut 22 is guided in the axial direction while its rotation is restricted by the engagement of the grooves and protrusions between the guide rail 23 and the regulating plate 24. The nut 22 rises smoothly along the axial direction of the lead screw 19 while its tilting is restricted by the cylindrical region 11La of the lifting support column 11 and the guide mechanism 26 consisting of the guide rail 23 and the regulating plate 24.

[0071] Therefore, when the nut 22 rises, the lifting support column 11 rises together with the nut 22, and the upper turntable 13 fixed to the top of the lifting support column 11 rises together with the lifting support column 11. As a result, as shown in Figures 1 and 10, the support rib 15 supported by the upper turntable 13 pulls the middle part of the corresponding main rib 14 upward, closing the main rib 14 so that it is aligned with the axial direction of the lifting support column 11.

[0072] As described above, the umbrella rib operating device 1 of this embodiment is equipped with a guide mechanism 26 that guides the nut 22 in the axial direction while restricting the tilting of the nut 22 around the axis of the feed screw 19. Therefore, the tilting of the nut 22 around the axis of the feed screw 19 is restricted by the guide mechanism 26, and it is possible to suppress the tilting of the nut 22 due to the moment acting through the lifting support column 11. Accordingly, when the umbrella rib operating device 1 of this embodiment is adopted, it becomes possible to smooth the lifting and lowering operation of the nut 22.

[0073] Furthermore, the guide mechanism 26 includes a cylindrical region 11La (tube portion) of the lifting support column 11, and a guide portion (guide rail 23 and regulating plate 24) that guides the vertical movement of the cylindrical region 11La (tube portion) while restricting its tilting. Therefore, in the umbrella rib operating device 1 of this embodiment, the moment acting on the nut 22 from the lifting support column 11 is received by the guide portion (guide rail 23 and regulating plate 24) through the cylindrical region 11La (tube portion) with a long axial length. Consequently, when the umbrella rib operating device 1 of this embodiment is adopted, smooth vertical movement of the nut 22 can be easily obtained with a simple configuration.

[0074] Furthermore, in the umbrella rib operating device 1 of this embodiment, guide parts (guide rails 23 and restricting plates 24) that restrict the tilting of the cylindrical region 11La (tube portion) of the lifting support column 11 are arranged at multiple points spaced apart around the axis of the feed screw 19. Therefore, when the umbrella rib operating device 1 of this embodiment is adopted, it is possible to restrict the tilting of the cylindrical region 11La (tube portion) by the guide parts (guide rails 23 and restricting plates 24) and to obtain smooth axial guidance.

[0075] Furthermore, the umbrella rib operating device 1 of this embodiment has a guide section that guides the outer circumferential surface of the cylindrical region 11La (cylindrical part) of the lifting support column 11, and is configured to include a guide rail 23 and a restricting plate 24 (restricting member). The guide rail 23 is provided on the outer circumferential surface of the cylindrical region 11La (cylindrical part) so as to be aligned with the axial direction. The restricting plate 24 is provided on the inner circumferential surface of the base support column 10 and is configured to slidably contact the guide rail 23. The restricting plate 24 is engaged with the guide rail 23 by protrusions and indentations so as to restrict the circumferential displacement of the guide rail 23. Therefore, the restricting plate 24 and the guide rail 23 not only restrict the tilting and axial guidance of the cylindrical region 11La (cylindrical part) of the lifting support column 11, but can also restrict the rotation of the nut 22 and the lifting support column 11. Therefore, by employing the umbrella rib operating device 1 of this embodiment, the rotation of the nut 22 accompanying the rotation of the feed screw 19 can be reliably restricted, and stable raising and lowering operation of the nut 22 and the lifting support column 11 can be obtained.

[0076] Furthermore, in this embodiment, the umbrella rib operating device 1 has a guide rail 23 that, together with the regulating plate 24, constitutes a guide section. This guide rail 23 is made of a separate component from the cylindrical region 11La (cylindrical section) of the lifting support column 11 and is fixed to the outer circumferential surface of the cylindrical region 11La. If the guide rail (guide groove) were to be formed directly on the outer circumferential surface of the cylindrical region 11La (cylindrical section), the overall thickness of the cylindrical region 11La (cylindrical section) would need to be increased. However, in this embodiment, since the guide rail 23, which is a separate component, is fixed to the outer circumferential surface of the cylindrical region 11La, an increase in the overall thickness of the cylindrical region 11La (cylindrical section) can be suppressed. In addition, compared to forming the guide rail (guide groove) on the outer circumferential surface of the lifting support column 11, which is a large component, processing can be done more easily and with greater precision. Furthermore, even when plating or the like is applied to the outer circumferential surface of the lifting support column 11, there is no need to mask the guide rail portion (guide groove). Therefore, manufacturing work can be simplified.

[0077] Furthermore, in this embodiment, the umbrella rib operating device 1 has a slit 27 formed in the cylindrical region 11La (tube portion) of the lifting support column 11, which penetrates the cylindrical region 11La radially and extends along the axial direction of the cylindrical region 11La. The upper end of the feed screw 19 is rotatably supported by a support block 28 that passes through the slit 27 and is connected to the base support column 10. Therefore, the tilting or bending of the feed screw 19 can be restricted by the support block 28. Moreover, in this embodiment, the support block 28 that supports the upper end of the feed screw 19 is connected to the base support column 10 through the slit 27 that extends along the axial direction of the lifting support column 11. Therefore, the lifting operation of the lifting support column 11 is not hindered by the support block 28.

[0078] In the embodiment described above, the base support 10 is constructed by joining three members: an upper support 10U, an intermediate support 10I, and a lower support 10L. However, the base support 10 does not necessarily have to be constructed from three members. For example, the base support 10 may be formed from one member, or it may be constructed from two or four or more members. Also, in the embodiment described above, the lifting support 11 is constructed by joining two members: an upper lifting support 11U and a lower lifting support 11L. However, the lifting support 11 may be made from one member, or it may be constructed from three or more members.

[0079] Furthermore, in the above-described embodiment, the restricting member fixed to the inner circumferential surface of the base support 10 and slidably contacting the guide rail 23 is formed of a metal plate material (restricting plate 24), but the restricting member does not necessarily have to be a metal plate material. The shape and material of the restricting member are not particularly limited as long as it is a member that slidably contacts the guide rail 23.

[0080] [Second Embodiment] Next, a second embodiment of the umbrella rib operating device according to the present invention will be described. Figure 11 is a longitudinal cross-sectional view corresponding to Figure 5 of the first embodiment. Figure 12 is a partial cross-sectional perspective view corresponding to Figure 6 of the first embodiment.

[0081] As shown in Figures 11 and 12, the basic configuration of the umbrella rib operating device 101 of this embodiment is substantially the same as that of the first embodiment. The umbrella rib operating device 101 differs from the first embodiment in the configuration of the guide mechanism 126 that guides the nut 22 in the axial direction while restricting the tilting of the nut 22 around the axis of the feed screw 19. The guide mechanism 126 comprises a cylindrical region 11La (cylindrical portion) of the lifting support column 11 that holds the nut 22, and a plurality of guide plates 32 (guide portions) fixed to the inner circumferential surface of the peripheral wall of the base support column 10 that guide the lifting and lowering of the cylindrical region 11La (cylindrical portion) while restricting the tilting of the cylindrical region 11La (cylindrical portion). The plurality of guide plates 32 are formed of rectangular metal plates with low sliding resistance.

[0082] Multiple guide plates 32 are attached to a cylindrical reinforcing block 25, which is attached to the inner circumference of the lower end of the intermediate support column 10I (base support column 10). The multiple guide plates 32 are attached to the inner surface of the reinforcing block 25, spaced apart in the circumferential direction. In this embodiment, each guide plate 32 is positioned on the outer surface of the lifting support column 11 and is spaced apart at 180° intervals. Although not shown, multiple guide plates 32 are also similarly attached to the inner surface of the upper support column 10U that constitutes the base support column 10.

[0083] The umbrella rib operating device 101 of this embodiment is configured to guide the up and down movement of the cylindrical region 11La (cylindrical portion) of the lifting support column 11 while restricting the tilting of the cylindrical region 11La (cylindrical portion) of the lifting support column 11 by a plurality of guide plates 32 attached to the inner circumferential surface of the base support column 10. Therefore, although the umbrella rib operating device 101 of this embodiment has a simple configuration, the tilting of the nut 22 around the axis of the feed screw 19 is restricted by the guide mechanism 126, and the tilting of the nut 22 due to the moment acting through the lifting support column 11 can be suppressed. Thus, even when the umbrella rib operating device 101 of this embodiment is adopted, the up and down movement of the nut 22 can be made smoother.

[0084] In this embodiment, a plurality of guide plates 32 that slide in contact with the outer surface of the cylindrical region 11La (tube portion) are used as guides that guide the up and down movement of the cylindrical region 11La (tube portion) while restricting the tilting of the cylindrical region 11La (tube portion) of the lifting support column 11. However, the guides that constitute the guide mechanism together with the cylindrical region 11La (tube portion) are not limited to guide plates 32. For example, the guides can be anything that can guide the up and down movement of the cylindrical region 11La (tube portion) while restricting the tilting of the cylindrical region 11La (tube portion), and may be rollers or tires that roll in contact with the outer surface of the cylindrical region 11La. Also, the number of guides installed on the inner surface of the peripheral wall of the base support column is not limited to two. For example, the number of guides can be multiple, and may be three or more.

[0085] [Third Embodiment] Next, a third embodiment of the umbrella rib operating device according to the present invention will be described. Figure 13 is a longitudinal cross-sectional view of the lower region of the umbrella rib operating device 201 with the umbrella ribs closed. Figure 14 is a longitudinal cross-sectional view of the upper region of the umbrella rib operating device 201 with the umbrella ribs closed. Figure 15 is a longitudinal cross-sectional view of the lower region of the umbrella rib operating device 201 with the umbrella ribs open. Figure 16 is a longitudinal cross-sectional view of the upper region of the umbrella rib operating device 201 with the umbrella ribs open.

[0086] As shown in Figures 13 to 16, the umbrella rib operating device 201 of this embodiment comprises a base support 210 fixedly installed to an installation surface such as a road surface or floor surface, and a lifting support 211 assembled to the base support 210 so as to be able to move up and down. The base support 210 is fixedly installed to the installation surface such that the axial directions of the base support 210 and the lifting support 211 are oriented vertically.

[0087] A first lower turntable (first lower connecting part) 212A and a second lower turntable (second lower connecting part) 212B are fixed to the upper part of the base support column 210, spaced apart in the axial direction. The first lower turntable 212A is fixed near the upper end of the base support column 210. The second lower turntable 212B is fixed at a predetermined distance below the upper end of the base support column 210. In addition, an upper turntable 213 is fixed near the upper end of the lifting support column 211 that protrudes upward from the base support column 210.

[0088] In this embodiment, each of the potter's wheels (first lower wheel 212A, second lower wheel 212B, upper wheel 213) is composed of a plurality of hinges (hinge pivots) protruding from the outer circumferential surface of the base column 210 and the lifting column 211. The plurality of hinges are arranged at equal intervals around the periphery of the base column 210 and the lifting column 211. These plurality of hinges are not formed from annular members separate from the columns, but they function in the same way as the lower wheel 12 and upper wheel 13 of the first embodiment described above. In this specification, this configuration in which a plurality of hinges are directly protruding from the outer circumferential surface of the columns is also referred to as a "potter's wheel".

[0089] Each hinge of the first lower ferrule 212A is connected to the base end of each of the multiple ribs 214, which hold an umbrella fabric (not shown). The multiple ribs 214 are arranged at equal intervals around the base support 210. Each base end of the multiple ribs 214 is connected to each hinge of the first lower ferrule 212A so as to be rotatable in the vertical direction.

[0090] Each main rib 214 comprises a first rib 214f located at the base and a second rib 214s rotatably connected to the first rib 214f. The first rib 214f and the second rib 214s are rotatably connected in the vertical direction. As shown in Figure 14, when the main rib 214 is in the closed state, the connection between the first rib 214f and the second rib 214s is bent upward, so that the first rib 214f and the second rib 214s are superimposed along the axial direction of the base support 210.

[0091] Each hinge of the second lower turntable 212B is rotatably connected to the base end of each of the multiple lower support bones 215L (support bones). The multiple lower support bones 215L are arranged at equal intervals around the base support column 210. Each base end of the multiple lower support bones 215L is rotatably connected in the vertical direction to each hinge of the second lower turntable 212B. The tip of each lower support bone 215L is rotatably connected from below to the middle part of the second bone 214s of the corresponding main bone 214. The lower support bones 215L and the second bone 214s are rotatably connected in the vertical direction.

[0092] Each hinge of the upper turntable 213 is rotatably connected to the base end of each of the multiple upper support bones 215U (support bones). The multiple upper support bones 215U are arranged at equal intervals around the lifting support column 211. Each base end of the multiple upper support bones 215U is rotatably connected to each hinge of the upper turntable 213 in the vertical direction. The tip of each upper support bone 215U is rotatably connected from above to the middle part of the first bone 214f of the corresponding main bone 214. The upper support bones 215U and the first bone 214f are rotatably connected in the vertical direction.

[0093] In this embodiment, the link mechanism 218 for opening and closing the umbrella consists of a main rib 214 having a first rib 214f and a second rib 214s, a lower support rib 215L connected to the second rib 214s of the main rib 214, and an upper support rib 215U connected to the first rib 214f of the main rib 214. As shown in Figure 14, when the upper runner 213 is in the raised position, the link mechanism 218 bends the connection between the first rib 214f and the second rib 214s of the multiple main ribs 214 upwards. In this state, the umbrella ribs are closed. Also, as shown in Figure 16, when the upper runner 213 is in the lowered position, the link mechanism 218 positions the multiple main ribs 214 in a nearly horizontal position and extends the connection between the first rib 214f and the second rib 214s in a straight line. In this state, the umbrella ribs are open. In other words, the link mechanism 218 closes the main ribs 214 by bending them upward in multiple stages as the upper ferrule 213 rises, and opens the main ribs 214 radially by extending them horizontally as the upper ferrule 213 descends. Note that the configuration of the opening and closing part of the umbrella ribs is not limited to this, and for example, it is also possible to adopt a configuration similar to the first embodiment described above.

[0094] As shown in Figures 13 and 15, the base support 210 comprises a lower support 210L and an upper support 210U. The lower end of the lower support 210L is fixedly installed on the installation surface. The upper support 210U is connected to the upper part of the lower support 210L. Both the lower support 210L and the upper support 210U are formed in a cylindrical shape and are connected to each other so as to be coaxial. The first lower potter's wheel 212A and the second lower potter's wheel 212B are provided on the upper support 210U.

[0095] As shown in Figures 14 and 16, the lifting support column 211 comprises a plurality of connecting columns 35 (connecting members), an upper lifting support column 211U, and a relay cylinder 36. The lower regions of the plurality of connecting columns 35 are housed within the base support column 210 so as to be able to move up and down. The plurality of connecting columns 35 are formed in the shape of round bars. An upper turntable 213 is fixed to the upper end of the upper lifting support column 211U. The relay cylinder 36 connects the plurality of connecting columns 35 and the upper lifting support column 211U. The plurality of connecting columns 35 extend along the axial direction of the lead screw 19, which will be described later, and are arranged at equal intervals so as to surround the axis of the lead screw 19. In this embodiment, both the upper lifting support column 211U and the relay cylinder 36 are formed in the shape of cylinders. The relay cylinder 36 and the upper lifting support column 211U are connected so as to be coaxial with each other. The intermediate tube 36 is formed to have a larger diameter than the upper lifting support column 211U. The outer surface of the intermediate tube 36 is slidably fitted into the inner surface of the peripheral wall of the upper support column 210U of the base support column 210.

[0096] As shown in Figures 13 and 15, a partition wall 8 is provided in the lower region of the lower support column 210L of the base support column 210, dividing the interior of the lower support column 210L into upper and lower spaces. A lead screw 19 (screw shaft) is rotatably supported on the partition wall 8. The lead screw 19 penetrates the center of the partition wall 8 in the vertical direction and protrudes vertically upward from the upper surface of the partition wall 8. The lead screw 19 protruding upward from the partition wall 8 is coaxially positioned at the axial center of the lower support column 210L. A nut 222 engages with the lead screw 19 in the space above the partition wall 8 of the lower support column 210L. The nut 22, together with the lead screw 19, constitutes a ball screw.

[0097] The lower end of the lead screw 19, which penetrates the partition wall 8, is connected to a motor 21 via a reduction gear 20, as shown in Figures 13 and 15. The motor 21 is fixedly installed in the lower support column 210L below the partition wall 8. The driving force of the motor 21 is reduced to a predetermined reduction ratio by the reduction gear 20 to rotate the lead screw 19.

[0098] Figure 17 is an enlarged cross-sectional view of a portion of Figure 15. Figure 18 is a partial cross-sectional perspective view of a portion of the umbrella rib operating device 201 in longitudinal section. Figure 19 is a cross-sectional view along the line XIX-XIX in Figure 17.

[0099] As shown in Figures 17 to 19, the nut 222 comprises a nut body portion 222a that engages with the lead screw 19 and an annular guide ring portion 222b. The guide ring portion 222b is integrally formed on the radially outer side of the nut body portion 222a. The guide ring portion 222b comprises an outer peripheral edge portion 38 that slidably contacts the inner circumferential surface of the lower support column 210L of the base support column 210, and a plurality of through holes 39 through which a plurality of connecting columns 35 are fixed in the vertical direction.

[0100] As shown in Figure 19, a plurality (for example, four) of guide protrusions 40 are formed on the outer peripheral edge 38 of the guide ring portion 222b, projecting radially outward. The plurality of guide protrusions 40 are arranged at equal intervals in the circumferential direction of the guide ring portion 222b.

[0101] In contrast, on the inner circumferential surface of the lower support column 210L of the base support column 210, facing the space above the partition wall 8, a plurality (for example, four) of guide grooves 41 are formed, extending along the axial direction of the lead screw 19. The corresponding guide projection 40 of the guide ring portion 222b is slidably engaged with each guide groove 41 by the interlocking grooves.

[0102] In this embodiment, the guide ring portion 222b, which is integrally formed on the outer circumference of the nut body portion 222a of the nut 222, constitutes the main guide ring. However, this is not the only possible configuration; for example, the main guide ring may be configured as a separate component having the same function as the guide ring portion 222b and fixed to the outer circumference of the nut (nut body portion 222a).

[0103] As shown in Figure 17, above the nut 222 (main guide ring), an upper guide ring 42, which has the same function as the guide ring portion 222b of the nut 222, is positioned axially apart from the nut 222. Similarly, below the nut 222 (main guide ring), a lower guide ring 43, which has the same function as the guide ring portion 222b of the nut 222, is positioned axially apart from the nut 222.

[0104] The upper guide ring 42 has multiple through holes 44 through which multiple connecting columns 35 are fixed in the vertical direction, and an insertion hole 45U through which a lead screw 19 is inserted. In addition, multiple (for example, four) guide protrusions 46U are formed on the outer peripheral edge of the upper guide ring 42 at equal intervals in the circumferential direction. The guide protrusions 46U of the upper guide ring 42 are slidably engaged with the guide groove 41 in the peripheral wall of the lower support column 210L by the interlocking grooves, similar to the guide protrusions 40 of the nut 222 (guide ring portion 222b).

[0105] The lower guide ring 43 has a through hole 45L through which the lead screw 19 is inserted, and a guide projection 46L that slidably engages with the guide groove 41 in the peripheral wall of the lower support column 210L through its irregularities. The lower ends of multiple connecting columns 35 are also connected to the lower guide ring 43.

[0106] In this embodiment, the guide ring portion 222b of the nut 222 that constitutes the main guide ring is integrally connected to the upper guide ring 42 and the lower guide ring 43, which are spaced apart above and below each other, by a plurality of connecting columns 35. Therefore, the nut 222 (nut body portion 222a) becomes a block integrated with the guide ring portion 222b (main guide ring), the upper guide ring 42, and the lower guide ring 43, and moves within the peripheral wall of the lower support column 210L. In this embodiment, the guide ring portion 222b (main guide ring) of the nut 222, the upper guide ring 42, the lower guide ring 43, and the plurality of connecting columns 35 (connecting members) that connect them constitute the guide mechanism 226.

[0107] As shown in Figures 11 and 13, the upper part of the lower support column 210L of the base support column 210 has a space inside which a nut 222 and guide rings 42 and 43 are housed, and a partition wall 47 that separates the space above. The upper end of the lead screw 19 is rotatably supported by the partition wall 47 via a bearing 48. The partition wall 47 also has a plurality of through holes 49 through which a plurality of connecting columns 35 pass in the vertical direction. A corresponding connecting column 35 is slidably inserted into each through hole 49. The upper ends of the connecting columns 35 that protrude upward through the through holes 49 of the partition wall 47 are connected to the upper lifting support column 211U via a relay tube 36.

[0108] As shown in Figures 14 and 16, a coil spring 37 is positioned on the outer circumference of the lower region of the upper lifting column 211U. The lower end of the coil spring 37 is in contact with the upper surface of the intermediate cylinder 36. The upper end of the coil spring 37 is capable of contacting a stopper piece 34 provided at the top of the upper support column 210U. As shown in Figure 16, when the upper lifting column 211U is in a lowered state, the stopper piece 34 is spaced apart from the upper end of the coil spring 37. In contrast, as shown in Figure 14, when the upper lifting column 211U is in an elevated state, the stopper piece 34 contacts the upper end of the coil spring 37, compressing the coil spring 37. As a result, the coil spring 37 provides a buffering function when the lifting column 211 approaches its upper limit.

[0109] Next, the opening and closing operation of the umbrella (parasol) by the umbrella rib operating device 201 will be described. As shown in Figures 13 and 14, when the lifting support 211 is raised relative to the base support 210, the upper ferrule 213 is raised together with the lifting support 211. In this state, the upper support rib 215U rotates downward with the upper ferrule 213 as the pivot point, and the lower support rib 215L rotates upward with the second lower ferrule 212B as the pivot point. As a result, the first rib 214f and the second rib 214s of the main rib 214 are bent upward, and the entire main rib 214 is in a closed state. At this time, the nuts 222 held by the multiple connecting columns 35 within the base support 210 are located on the upper end side of the lead screw 19, as shown in Figure 13.

[0110] Furthermore, at this time, the guide ring portion 222b on the outer circumference of the nut 222, and the upper guide ring 42 and lower guide ring 43, which are spaced apart above and below the guide ring portion 222b, are integrated via a plurality of connecting columns 35, with each outer surface in contact with the inner surface of the base column 210 (lower column 210L). Therefore, the nut 222 is prevented from tilting (inclinating) by the outer surfaces of the upper guide ring 42, the guide ring portion 222b (main guide ring), and the lower guide ring 43 each contacting the inner surface of the base column 210. In addition, the guide protrusions 46U, 40, and 46L on the outer circumferences of the upper guide ring 42, the guide ring portion 222b (main guide ring), and the lower guide ring 43 are engaged with the guide grooves 41 corresponding to the inner surface of the base column 210 by the interlocking of these protrusions and recesses. Therefore, the rotation of the nut 222 relative to the base column 210 is restricted by this engagement.

[0111] From this state, when a switch (not shown) is operated and the motor 21 rotates in one direction, that rotation is reduced by the reduction gear 20 and transmitted to the lead screw 19. In this way, when the lead screw 19 rotates in one direction, the nut 222 descends in accordance with the rotation of the lead screw 19, as shown in Figure 15. At this time, the guide ring portion 222b of the nut 222 and the upper and lower guide rings 42 and 43 are guided along the inner circumferential surface of the base column 210 while their rotation is restricted by the engagement caused by the aforementioned irregularities. Therefore, the nut 222 descends smoothly along the axial direction of the lead screw 19 while its tilting is restricted. At this time, even if a large moment acts on the nut 222 through the lifting column 211, the tilting of the nut 222 is suppressed.

[0112] As the nut 222 descends, the lifting support column 211 descends together with the nut 222, and the upper runner 213 fixed to the top of the lifting support column 211 descends together with the lifting support column 211. As a result, as shown in Figure 16, the upper support rib 215U supported by the upper runner 213 presses the middle portion of the first rib 214f of the corresponding main rib 214 outward in the radial direction, thereby making the first rib 214f horizontal. At this time, the lower support rib 215L rotates outward in the radial direction, following the movement of the first rib 214f. As a result, the second rib 214s of the main rib 214 becomes horizontal so as to be in a straight line with the first rib 214f. As a result, the umbrella ribs are opened.

[0113] From this state, when a switch (not shown) is operated and the motor 21 rotates in the reverse direction, that rotation is reduced by the reduction gear 20 and transmitted to the lead screw 19. In this way, when the lead screw 19 rotates in the reverse direction, the nut 222 that engages with the lead screw 19 rises in accordance with the rotation of the lead screw 19. During this time, the nut 222 is restricted from rotating, and its tilt is suppressed by the guide ring portion 222b and the upper and lower guide rings 42 and 43, just as during its descent. Therefore, the nut 222 rises smoothly along the axial direction of the lead screw 19 while its tilt is restricted.

[0114] As the nut 222 rises, the lifting support column 211 rises along with the nut 222, and the upper runner 213, which is fixed to the top of the lifting support column 211, rises along with the lifting support column 211. As a result, the upper support rib 215U, which is supported by the upper runner 213, rotates downward, and the first rib 214f and the second rib 214s of the main rib 214 bend upward at the connection point. As a result, the umbrella ribs are closed.

[0115] As described above, the umbrella rib operating device 201 of this embodiment is equipped with a guide mechanism 226 that guides the nut 222 in the axial direction while restricting the tilting of the nut 222 around the axis of the lead screw 19. Therefore, the tilting of the nut 222 around the axis of the lead screw 19 is restricted by the guide mechanism 226, and the tilting of the nut 222 due to the moment acting through the lifting support column 211 can be suppressed. Accordingly, when the umbrella rib operating device 201 of this embodiment is adopted, the lifting and lowering operation of the nut 222 can be made smoother.

[0116] Furthermore, in the umbrella rib operating device 201 of this embodiment, the guide mechanism 226 includes a guide ring portion 222b (main guide ring) provided on the outer circumference of the nut 222, an upper guide ring 42 spaced apart above the guide ring portion 222b, and a lower guide ring 43 spaced apart below the guide ring portion 222b. The guide ring portion 222b, the upper guide ring 42, and the lower guide ring 43 are interconnected by a plurality of connecting columns 35, which are connecting members, on the radially outer side of the lead screw 19. As a result, the guide ring portion 222b and the upper and lower guide rings 42 and 43, which are spaced apart in the axial direction, function as an integrated block. Therefore, when the umbrella rib operating device 201 of this embodiment is adopted, the guide ring portion 222b of the nut 222 and the upper and lower guide rings 42 and 43 contact the peripheral wall of the base support column 210, thereby efficiently restricting the tilt of the nut 222.

[0117] In this embodiment, the umbrella rib operating device 201 has three guide rings, including the guide ring section 222b (main guide ring), connected by multiple connecting columns 35. However, the number of guide rings connected by multiple connecting columns 35 is not limited to three. For example, the number of guide rings can be multiple, such as two or four or more.

[0118] Furthermore, in this embodiment, the umbrella rib operating device 201 has a guide ring portion 222b (main guide ring) and upper and lower guide rings 42 and 43 that are engaged with the peripheral wall of the base support 210 by irregularities so as to restrict their rotation. Therefore, the relative rotation of the nut 222 with respect to the base support 210 due to the rotation of the lead screw 19 is restricted by the engagement between the guide rings 42 and 43 and the base support 210 due to the irregularities. Consequently, when the umbrella rib operating device 201 of this embodiment is adopted, it is possible to reliably restrict the rotation of the nut 222 due to the rotation of the lead screw 19 and to obtain stable raising and lowering operation of the nut 222 and the lifting support 211.

[0119] In this embodiment, the guide ring portion 222b (main guide ring) and the upper and lower guide rings 42 and 43 are fully engaged with the peripheral wall of the base column 210 by irregularities. However, this is not the only case; it is sufficient that at least one of the guide ring portion 222b and the upper and lower guide rings 42 and 43 is engaged with the peripheral wall of the base column 210 by irregularities.

[0120] Furthermore, in the umbrella rib operating device 201 of this embodiment, the base support column 210 is provided with a space for housing the nut 222 of the base support column 210 and a partition wall 47 separating the space above it. The upper part of the feed screw 19 is rotatably supported by the partition wall 47, and the multiple connecting columns 35 penetrate the partition wall 47 in the vertical direction. In this case, since the upper part of the feed screw 19 is rotatably supported by the partition wall 47 of the base support column 210, the tilting or bending of the feed screw 19 due to the load acting on the nut 222 from the lifting support column 211 can be efficiently restricted by the partition wall 47. In addition, in the umbrella rib operating device 201 of this embodiment, the multiple connecting columns 35 that move up and down together with the nut 222 and the upper and lower guide rings 42 and 43 penetrate the partition wall 47 in the vertical direction. Therefore, it is relatively easy to prevent water droplets from entering the interior of the base support column 210 from the partition wall 47. Therefore, by adopting this configuration, the structure for preventing water droplets from entering can be simplified.

[0121] [Fourth Embodiment] Next, a fourth embodiment of the umbrella rib operating device according to the present invention will be described. Figure 20 is a front view of a part of the umbrella rib operating device 301 of this embodiment. As shown in Figure 20, the configuration of the feed screw 319 and nut 322 of the umbrella rib operating device 301 of this embodiment differs from that of the other embodiments described above. The configuration of the other parts can be the same as that of the other embodiments described above.

[0122] The lead screw 319 used in the umbrella rib operating device 301 of this embodiment is a trapezoidal screw with threads 60 formed in a trapezoidal shape. The nut 322 has a female thread 61 that engages with the threads 60 of the lead screw 319. A motor (not shown) is connected to the lead screw 319 via a reduction gear 20, similar to the first to third embodiments. The power from the motor is reduced to a predetermined reduction ratio by the reduction gear 20 and transmitted to the lead screw 319. It is desirable to use an oscillating gear type reduction gear 20 that can obtain a large reduction ratio and has high resistance to heavy loads.

[0123] The lead angle α of the lead screw 319 is set to an angle in the range of 1° < α < 45°.

[0124] In the umbrella rib operating device 301 of this embodiment, the lead screw 319 is made of a trapezoidal screw that has relatively high contact resistance with the nut 322. Furthermore, a reduction gear 20 with a large reverse start torque is provided in the rotation input section that transmits the driving force to the lead screw 319. Therefore, even when the load of the lifting support column and the umbrella body (umbrella ribs and umbrella fabric) is input to the nut 322 while the lifting support column is raised, it is possible to restrict the rotation of the lead screw 319 under that load. Accordingly, when the umbrella rib operating device 301 of this embodiment is adopted, unintended lowering of the lifting support column can be suppressed without providing a special brake mechanism to stop the rotation of the lead screw 319. In addition, even if a brake mechanism is provided, it is possible to miniaturize the brake mechanism.

[0125] Furthermore, in the umbrella rib operating device 301 of this embodiment, the lead angle α of the feed screw 319 is set to an angle in the range of 1° < α < 45°. Therefore, by appropriately setting the lead angle α, efficient torque can be transmitted to the nut 322 without delaying the raising and lowering of the support column. In other words, by setting the lead angle α as described above, it is possible to avoid an extreme decrease in the feed speed of the nut 322 and to obtain sufficient torque to raise and lower the support column and the umbrella body (umbrella ribs and umbrella fabric) together with the nut 322.

[0126] Specifically, when the lead angle α of the lead screw 319 is 1° or less, a high-speed motor is required to raise and lower the support column within a predetermined time. Also, when the lead angle α of the lead screw 319 is 45° or more, a high-torque motor is required to raise and lower the support column without hindrance. For this reason, under the conditions that the lead angle α of the lead screw 319 is α ≤ 1° or α ≥ 45°, a large and expensive motor must be used in both cases. In contrast, in the umbrella rib operating device 301 of this embodiment, the lead angle α of the lead screw 319 is set to 1° < α < 45°, so a small and relatively inexpensive motor can be used. Therefore, by adopting the umbrella rib operating device 301 of this embodiment, it becomes possible to miniaturize the drive unit of the support column and reduce product costs.

[0127] Furthermore, in the umbrella rib operating device 301 of this embodiment, the lead angle α of the feed screw 319 is set to an angle in the range of 1° < α < 45°, so that the unintended descent of the lifting support due to the weight of the lifting support and the umbrella body (umbrella ribs and umbrella fabric) can be suppressed more reliably.

[0128] It should be noted that the present invention is not limited to the embodiments described above, and various design modifications are possible without departing from the spirit of the invention. For example, in the first to third embodiments described above, the lead screw and nut constitute a ball screw, but a trapezoidal screw similar to that in the fourth embodiment can also be used in the first to third embodiments.

[0129] In each of the embodiments described above, the lead screw is rotated by the power of a motor. However, this is not the only way to do so, and the drive source for rotating the lead screw is not limited to a motor. The rotation of the lead screw can also be performed using a rotary actuator other than a motor, or manually.

[0130] Furthermore, in the embodiments disclosed herein, those composed of multiple objects may be integrated, and conversely, those composed of a single object may be divided into multiple objects. Whether or not they are integrated, the invention is only necessary to achieve its objective.

[0131] The aforementioned umbrella rib operating device has a guide mechanism inside the base support column, which restricts the tilting of the nut around the axis of the lead screw while guiding the nut in a direction along the axial direction of the lead screw. Therefore, when the above-described umbrella rib operating device is adopted, the raising and lowering operation of the nut can be made smoother.
