Abstract
Description
[0001] Closure for a Container and Container with such a Closure
[0002] Description
[0003] The present invention relates to a closure or a closure device for a container and to a container with such a closure or closure device.
[0004] Such closures are typically used for products to be dispensed and being contained in a container to which said closure is attached.
[0005] The products to be dispensed are typically fluid products, like e.g. liquids or powdered or granular products, e.g. in the food or beverage area, for example ketchup, but also in other applications, e.g. for cleaning substances, detergents or other products.
[0006] Such closures may comprise a membrane valve or a slit-type dispensing valve, typically molded as a unitary structure (or a one-piece structure), typically made from a thermoplastic material (a thermoplastic elastomer, TPE) or from silicone, to ensure a controlled dispensing and to also ensure a proper and controlled dispensing process.
[0007] A dispensing closure with such a slit-type dispensing valve is for example known from document EP 2132101 Bi.
[0008] Some products to be dispensed change or partly change some of their properties, especially their viscosity, or some products may develop even different properties at the same time but at different locations, e.g. due to separation of various components within the products to be dispensed, so that the product to be dispensed had e.g. different viscosities at the same time but at different locations within a container or within parts of a closure, in which part of the product to be dispensed or different components of the product to be dispensed are present. This may lead to undesired or improper dispensing properties.
[0009] Furthermore, even when a dispensing valve is provided, there may be situations which lead to an undesired spilling of a product from the container, e.g. when the container is dropped or otherwise subject to an impact from outside. It is an object of the present invention to provide an enhanced closure and a closure device, addressing the above-mentioned problems and providing good dispensing properties for various products, especially fluid products to be dispensed, while further reducing the risk of undesired spilling.
[0010] This object is solved by a dispensing closure according to claim 1 and a container with such a closure according to claim 29. Claims 2 to 28 refer to specifically advantageous realizations of a dispensing closure according to claim 1.
[0011] The present invention relates to a dispensing closure for a container, said dispensing closure comprising a base element, wherein the base element comprises a deck portion and a skirt portion, said skirt portion extending from the deck portion and having attachment means for attaching the base unit to the container, especially a neck of the container, and said base element further comprises a dispensing opening for dispensing a fluid.
[0012] The dispensing closure further comprises a flow control unit, and a dispensing valve, preferably a slit-type dispensing valve or a membrane valve.
[0013] According to the invention the base element, the flow control unit and the dispensing valve are arranged or designed such that a first intermediate volume or space or room is defined by at least parts of the flow control unit and parts of the base element and such that a second volume or space or room is defined by at least parts of the flow control unit and parts of the dispensing valve.
[0014] Furthermore, the base element, the flow control unit and the dispensing valve are arranged such that a fluid to be dispensed has to pass first through the first intermediate volume and thereafter through the second volume, being different from the first intermediate volume, before being dispensed through the dispensing opening.
[0015] This specific arrangement, especially including the first intermediate volume and the second volume, which have to be passed by liquid or fluid to be dispensed in sequence, leads to a better “protection” of the dispensing valve, which reduces the risk of undesired and / or unintended spilling of fluid or liquid, which otherwise may occur when certain forces or impacts are exerted to the dispensing closure and / or a container with such a dispensing closure. Such impacts may occur during handling in any direction, however, those impacts often and frequently occur in a direction parallel to the dispensing direction (z-direction), which is a very critical direction with respect to inadvertent spilling of the product to be dispensed, and the dispensing closure according to the invention is especially effective in avoiding these undesired spilling results for such impacts.
[0016] On the other hand, the desired and intentional dispensing of fluid or liquid is not at all negatively affected. To the contrary, the new dispensing closure according to the present invention enhances overall properties of the dispensing closure, securing a proper and controlled dispensing, even when the dispensing closure is attached to containers of different volumes and / or when the fluids or liquids to be dispensed have, depending on the applications, different properties, for example different viscosities.
[0017] This specific design not only leads to an enhanced dispensing process and / or to a proper and smoother dispensing but also to an increased mixing of fluid to be dispensed during the dispensing process and before being dispensed out of the dispensing opening to the exterior. The dispensing closure according to the present invention therefore also provides good dispensing properties especially for various and different liquid products to be dispensed, especially e.g. for fluids with varying viscosities or those prone to separation, such as thixotropic or pseudoplastic fluids like ketchup.
[0018] According to a further preferred embodiment the first intermediate volume is a ringlike or an essentially ringlike volume, while further preferably the second volume is a cylindrical or an essentially cylindrical volume.
[0019] In a specifically preferred embodiment, the first intermediate volume is a ringlike or an essentially ringlike volume, which is arranged at least partly around the second volume, wherein preferably the first intermediate volume extends completely around the second volume.
[0020] These features provide a precise structural characteristic to the dispensing closure, which positively influences the fluid dynamics and flow control within the device. The cylindrical shape of the second volume can enhance the predictability and consistency of fluid flow through the dispensing closure. This geometric specification may facilitate the design and manufacturing process, ensuring that the flow control unit and the dispensing valve operate efficiently within a well-defined spatial arrangement. The cylindrical configuration of the second volume also contributes to the stability and uniformity of the fluid stream as it passes through the dispensing opening, potentially reducing turbulence and improving the accuracy of fluid dispensing. These features especially ensure that the fluid to be dispensed undergoes a controlled and predictable transition through the defined volumes before being released.
[0021] Furthermore, this specific arrangement ensures that, in case of an impact, the first intermediate volume and the second volume are separated from each other, so that a reduced impact or pressure is in fact applied to the dispensing valve, namely essentially only by the fluid to be dispensed and being included in the relatively small second volume, thereby minimizing the risk of inadvertent opening of the valve.
[0022] According to a further preferred embodiment the flow control unit comprises a flow control element and a fluid guiding element. These two elements can be provided in a unitary structure and manufactured e.g. by injection molding, however, according to a further preferred embodiment, the flow control element and the fluid guiding element are separate elements (preferably also separately manufactured e.g. by injection molding) which are attachable or are attached to each other, preferably by snap fitting, wherein further preferably the flow control element comprises one or more protrusions and the fluid guiding element comprises one or more grooves, preferably one ringlike groove for connecting the flow control element and the fluid guiding element to each other.
[0023] By having these components as separate but attachable elements, the design allows for easier manufacturing, and potential customization of the dispensing closure. The snap fitting mechanism, particularly with the use of protrusions and grooves, ensures a secure and reliable connection between the flow control element and the fluid guiding element, enhancing the overall functionality and durability of the dispensing closure. This design also simplifies the assembly process. The preference for a ringlike groove further ensures a consistent and tight fit, preventing any leakage or misalignment that could compromise the dispensing performance.
[0024] According to a specifically preferred embodiment the dispensing closure and especially the flow control unit and the dispensing valve are designed and / or selected such that the size of the second volume on the one hand and an opening pressure of the dispensing valve on the other hand depend on each other, wherein the second volume is equal to or smaller than 10 mm3per each 1 mbar of the opening pressure of the dispensing valve, wherein preferably the second volume is equal to or smaller than 7 mm3per each 1 mbar of the opening pressure of the dispensing valve, and wherein further preferably the second volume is equal to or smaller than 5 mm3per each 1 mbar of the opening pressure of the dispensing valve.
[0025] It has been found by the inventors that such a selection of the dispensing valve, with a predetermined opening pressure or opening threshold or cracking pressure (being a pressure applied to the valve, in dispensing direction or on an inner side of the valve or on or at a side of the valve directed to the interior of the closure or the second volume, at which the valve opens or starts to open and allows fluid to pass through the valve, and being an inherent property of the valve, which especially depends on dimension and material of the valve), with a corresponding (relative) sizing of the second volume is specifically advantages in order to avoid any inadvertent spilling of fluid from the closure.
[0026] Absolute values for the opening pressure or opening threshold or cracking pressure on the one hand and the size of the second volume on the other hand can be adapted to the desired properties of the closure and the fluid to be dispensed, depending on the various applications of the closure and preferably within the above-mentioned relative dimensions / opening pressure: Preferred opening pressures or opening thresholds are in the range of 10 mbar to 150 mbar, more preferably in a range of 20 mbar and 100 mbar, even further preferably in a range of 30 mbar and 80 mbar. Preferred sizes for the second volume are in a range of 80 to 800 mm3, more preferably in a range of 100 to 500 mm3, even further preferably in a range of 100 to 300 mm3.
[0027] According to a further preferred embodiment the flow control unit comprises a platelike or roof like deck portion extending in a direction parallel to a plane (x-y plane) defined by the dispensing opening and / or extending in a direction perpendicular to a dispensing direction (z-direc-tion), wherein the deck portion is completely closed and the extension of the deck portion in a direction perpendicular to the dispensing direction (z-direction) is larger than the extension of the dispensing opening.
[0028] In a specifically preferred embodiment, an area of the deck portion in a direction perpendicular to the dispensing direction (z-direction) is larger than an area of the deck portion in a direction perpendicular to the dispensing direction (z-direction) by a factor of at least 3, preferably by a factor of at least 4, further preferably by a factor of at least 5. Alternatively or additionally, the deck portion has a circular or essentially circular shape or cross-section and the diameter of the deck portion is larger than the diameter of the dispensing opening by a factor of at least 1.5, preferably by a factor of at least 1.8, further preferably by a factor of at least 2.
[0029] The deck portion of the flow control unit, being completely closed, serves to regulate the flow of the fluid by ensuring that the fluid must navigate around the deck portion before reaching the dispensing opening. This configuration helps controlling the fluid flow more precisely. The extension of the deck portion being larger than the dispensing opening ensures that the fluid is evenly distributed and directed towards the dispensing opening in a controlled manner and especially helps preventing spillage or uncontrolled dispensing, as the deck portion completely covers the dispensing opening and the dispensing valve, especially protecting and covering it from potential pressure or impact by fluid or other products into the container.
[0030] Any impact potentially exerted by the fluid in the container cannot directly exert pressure or impact on the dispensing valve, especially as the fluid in the container has to propagate around the well-defined path, which can only happen within a certain time delay, especially due to the viscosity of the product to be dispensed.
[0031] This positive effect is increased when the area or dimension of the deck portion is larger than the area or dimension of the dispensing opening, while the above-mentioned factors have been proven to be specifically advantageous, without negatively influencing the desired dispensing of the product. The specific design factors furthermore enable an adaption to varying degrees of flow control precision, allowing for customization based on the specific requirements of the fluid being dispensed.
[0032] According to a further preferred embodiment, the deck portion of the flow control unit comprises a center or middle portion and an outer portion surrounding the center portion, preferably completely. Further preferably the outer portion of the deck portion has a wave-like structure or a structure in which some parts of the outer portion have a larger distance from the dispensing opening in the dispensing direction than other parts of the outer portion.
[0033] The specific design structure of the flow control unit and especially the outer portion of the deck portion also influences the flow of liquid to be dispensed, from the container outer portion of the control unit into the first intermediate volume. The preferred wave-like structure leads to a controlled flow of liquid into the first intermediate volume, with different flow characteristics depending on the angular position of the outer portion of the flow control unit.
[0034] Depending on the waveform and also the shape of the base element, it may be even possible that the deck portion of the flow control unit or preferably of the flow control element comes into contact with an inner side of the deck portion of the base element, thereby preventing the flow of liquid from the container into the first intermediate volume at the specific angular positions, allowing the flow of liquid into the first intermediate volume only in areas where the wavelike form leaves openings or passages into the first intermediate volume.
[0035] These characteristics lead on the one hand to an enhanced mixing of liquid within the first intermediate volume, which is especially beneficial for fluids with varying viscosities or those prone to separation, such as thixotropic or pseudoplastic fluids, while on the other hand reducing the transfer of an impact force from fluid in the container to fluid in the first intermediate volume and even more to fluid in the second volume, thereby even further reducing the risk of inadvertent spilling.
[0036] According to a further preferred embodiment the flow control unit comprises one or more sidewalls, the one or more sidewalls having one or more openings generating a passage between the first intermediate volume and the second volume for allowing fluid to pass from the first intermediate volume to the second volume. This further enhances the controlled flow of liquid and the reduction of the risk of inadvertent spilling, especially in combination with the above-mentioned feature and the wavelike structure of the deck portion of the flow control element (or the flow control unit). In fact, a two-step flow control is provided: in a first step to transport the fluid from the volume within the container into the first intermediate volume and, in the second step, to transport the fluid from the first intermediate volume to the second volume, thereby further separating the fluid being directly in the vicinity of the dispensing valve in the second volume from the fluid within the volume in the container.
[0037] According to a further preferred embodiment the flow control unit, in a preferred embodiment the flow control element and the fluid guiding element in cooperation, provides 2 to 4 openings, preferably 3 openings, generating a passage for allowing fluid to pass from the first intermediate volume to the second volume. These effects can be further enhanced or adapted to the specific fluid by various geometric optimizations:
[0038] Preferably the one or more openings of the flow control element unit (preferably of the flow control element and the fluid guiding element in combination) extend over an angular area of 150° to 350°, preferably over an angular area of 180° to 340°, more preferably over an angular area of 270° to 340°, with the angular area indicating the sum of all openings or passages around the circumference of the flow control unit (or the flow control element and the fluid guiding element, respectively)
[0039] Further preferably the one or more openings of the flow control unit have an axial height, perpendicular to the dispensing opening or two to the area or cross-section plane of the dispensing opening or in parallel to a dispensing direction, which corresponds to between 30% and 80% of the diameter of the dispensing opening (250), preferably to between 40% and 70% and more preferably to between 50% and 70% of the diameter of the dispensing opening. By defining the axial height of the openings in relation to the diameter of the dispensing opening, the fluid dynamics within the dispensing closure can be better controlled, ensuring a more consistent and reliable dispensing performance. This preferred relationship also contributes to the effective management of fluid pressure and flow rate, enhancing the overall functionality of the dispensing closure.
[0040] In a further preferred embodiment, the dispensing valve is positioned by the flow control unit and the base element, preferably by a fluid guiding element of the flow control unit and the base element. This specific design ensures a precise alignment and stabilization of the dispensing valve within the dispensing closure. By positioning the dispensing valve using the flow control unit and the base element, the design ensures that the valve remains securely in place during the dispensing process, while especially a reliable ceiling is achieved. Furthermore, the manufacturing and assembly step is greatly enhanced.
[0041] In a further preferred embodiment, the dispensing closure comprises a spout, wherein the first intermediate volume and the second volume are at least partly positioned within the spout. This preferred and optimized design ensures that the dispensing valve as well as the first intermediate volume and the second volume can be fully or at least partly placed within the interior of the spout, leading to a further protection of these elements. This further reduces an undesired impact onto the dispensing valve and leads to a better protection of the wealth and of especially the second volume, further reducing the risk of inadvertent spilling.
[0042] According to a further preferred embodiment, the flow control unit and the base element are separate elements which can be attached or are attached to each other, preferably by snap fitting. This enables a better adaption to the final product or the fluid to be dispensed and its characteristics, furthermore it enhances the manufacturing and assembly process.
[0043] Further optimizations are possible by additional measurements:
[0044] In a preferred realization the base element comprises a protrusion or a groove, and the flow control unit comprises a corresponding protrusion for a snap fitting engagement of the base element and the flow control unit. Further preferably the protrusion or groove of the base element is provided on an inner side wall of the spout of the base element, the protrusion of the flow control unit is provided on an outer side wall of the flow control unit, preferably on an outer side wall of a fluid guiding element of the flow control unit. Further preferably the protrusion of the flow control unit is provided on an outer side wall of the flow control unit, preferably on an outer side wall of a fluid guiding element of the flow control unit, these arrangements especially enhance the manufacturing and assembly process and the positioning of the elements during the assembly process. Furthermore, a very precise positioning is achieved thereby.
[0045] According to a further optimized and preferred realization the protrusion or groove of the base element and / or the corresponding protrusion of the flow control unit are ringlike or essentially ringlike. Such a ringlike design contributes to a more uniform distribution of pressure around the sealing interface, improving the overall durability and performance of the dispensing closure. Furthermore, the ringlike design also ensures that the separate elements can be assembled with each other without ensuring a specific relative angular position of one element to the other element, thereby also remarkably enhancing the assembly steps.
[0046] According to a further preferred realization, the flow control unit (preferably a fluid guiding element of the flow control unit) comprises a circumferential sealing surface for a sealing abutment with the dispensing valve. Further preferably, the base comprises a circumferential sealing surface for a sealing abutment with the dispensing valve, wherein the sealing surface is preferably provided at a spout, more preferably at an inner extension of the spout.
[0047] These optimized arrangements lead to a secure sealing while keeping the assembly process simple and reliable.
[0048] According to a further preferred dispensing closure, the closure further comprises a lid unit, especially a flip-top lid, said lid unit being attached to or capable of being attached to said base element, wherein the lid unit comprises a sealing element for closing or sealing the dispensing opening of the base element when the lid unit is in its closing position.
[0049] The lid unit preferably further comprises a top portion, and a skirt portion extending from the top portion, wherein preferably the sealing element extends from the top portion, preferably from a central, inner area of the top portion, of the lid unit.
[0050] This design supports maintaining the quality and safety of the fluid being dispensed, as it prevents contamination and spillage when the dispensing closure is not in use. Overall, the addition of the lid unit with its sealing element and structural components significantly enhances the functionality and user experience of the dispensing closure.
[0051] According to a further preferred embodiment the base element comprises a further or outer skirt portion extending from the deck portion, the further or outer skirt portion being positioned radially outward of the skirt portion having attachment means for attaching the base unit to the container.
[0052] This arrangement provides an additional structural layer to the base element, enhancing the overall stability and robustness of the dispensing closure. This dual-skirt design can also facilitate easier handling and manipulation of the closure during both the manufacturing process and end-user application, as the outer skirt can serve as an additional gripping surface. The inclusion of the further or outer skirt portion thus brings multiple functional and aesthetic benefits to the dispensing closure, contributing to its overall effectiveness and user-friendliness. The present invention also relates to a container for storing a liquid with a dispensing closure as described above , wherein the dispensing closure is attached to the container, preferably to a neck of the container, wherein further preferably the container is a flexible container, so that the volume of the container can be reduced by application of external pressure to the container from the outside, wherein preferably the container is made of a material being elastically deformable.
[0053] The flexibility of the container facilitates the reduction of its volume when external pressure is applied, which in turn can influence the dispensing mechanism of the closure. The elastically deformable material of the container ensures that it can return to its original shape after the pressure is released, maintaining the integrity and functionality of the container for repeated use. This feature introduces the advantage of controlled dispensing of the liquid, as the user can regulate the flow by applying varying degrees of pressure to the container. The flexibility and elastic deformability of the container also enhance the convenience and user-friendliness of the product, making it easier to handle and operate
[0054] The above described and further properties and / or advantages and / or effects of a closure a container with such a closure will become even more apparent by the following figures showing specific embodiments.

[0059] Figure 6 shows side views of an embodiment of the flow control unit comprising a flow control element and a fluid guiding element, while both elements are not assembled or connected to each other but shown in an exploded view,
[0060] Figure 7 shows the flow control element and the fluid guiding element as shown in figure 6, however in a cross-sectional view,
[0061] Figure 8 shows side views of the embodiment of the flow control unit comprising a flow control element and a fluid guiding element as shown in Figure 6, while both elements are assembled and connected to each other, and
[0062] Figure 9 shows the flow control element and the fluid guiding element as shown in figure 8, however in a cross-sectional view.
[0063] Figure 1 shows a perspective view of an embodiment of a closure 100 according to the present invention. This embodiment realizes a so-called flip-top closure having a base element 200 and a flip-top lid 800, which can be moved between an open position, as shown in figure 1, and a closed position (see figure 2) via a hinge 750.
[0064] The base element 200 comprises a deck portion 220 and an outer skirt portion, while the base element also comprises an inner skirt portion (240, see figure 2).
[0065] The flip-top lid 800 comprises a top portion 820, which is an essentially flat portion extending in a horizontal direction (when the flip-top lid is in its closed position, see figure 2), and a skirt portion 870 extending from the top portion 820. As can be taken from figure 2, the skirt portion 870 of the flip-top lid 800 is essentially flush with the outer skirt portion 270 of the base element 200, when the flip-top lid 800 is in its closed position, so that both skirt portions 270 and 870 form, both independently and together, an essentially cylindrical border or outer side wall of the closure 100. The flip-top lid 800 also comprises a sealing element 850, extending from the top portion 820 and extending into a direction of the base element 200 when said flip-top lid is in its closed position. When the flip-top lid 800 is in its closed position, the sealing element 850 is at least partly introduced into the dispensing opening 250 or a corresponding dispense channel so that the dispensing opening 250 is closed and no fluid can be dispensed therethrough.
[0066] As can be especially taken from figure 2, the base element 200 comprises an inner skirt portion 240 while this skirt portion 240 comprises attachment means 242, in this case an inner thread 242 for attaching the closure to a container (not shown), especially to a neck of a container, extent provides corresponding outer threads.
[0067] The base element 200 also comprises connection walls or stiffeners 225, extending in an essentially radial direction between the inner skirt 240 and the outer skirt 270. These stiffeners 225 increase the stability of the closure and especially the base element 200 and especially ensures a constant and stable position and / distance of the two skirts 240 and 270.
[0068] Figure 3 illustrates an exploded view of an embodiment of a dispensing closure assembly, showing the various components and their arrangement.
[0069] The assembly includes a base element 200, which comprises a deck portion 220 and a skirt portion 240 (inner skirt portion) extending from the deck portion 220. The skirt portion 240 includes attachment means 242 for securing the base element 200 to a container, specifically to the neck of the container. Additionally, the base element 200 comprises a spout 210 and a circumferential sealing surface 262 provided at an inner extension of the spout 210, for a sealing engagement with a corresponding sealing portion 562 of the dispensing valve 500, being a slittype dispensing valve 500, in this embodiment made from silicon. The base element 200 also includes a further or outer skirt portion 270 positioned radially outward of the inner skirt portion 240.
[0070] The flow control unit 150 of this embodiment comprises a flow control element 300 and a fluid guiding element 400, being separate elements, which can be connected by snap fitting.
[0071] The flow control element 300 includes a deck portion 320, which has a center portion 322 and an outer portion 324 surrounding the center portion 322. The outer portion 324 exhibits a wave- like structure. The flow control element 300 also comprises sidewalls 342 with openings 344, which generate a passage between the first intermediate volume (VI, see Figure 4) and the second volume (V2, see Figure 4), allowing fluid to pass from the first intermediate volume VI to the second volume V2.
[0072] The fluid guiding element 400 includes a ringlike groove 424 four snap fitting engagement with the flow control element 300 and a protrusion 460 for snap fitting engagement with the base element. The fluid guiding element 400 also comprises a circumferential sealing surface 442 for sealing abutment with the slit-type dispensing valve 500.
[0073] The slit-type dispensing valve 500 consists of a ringlike mounting portion 510 or mounting flange, an annual flange portion 520, a sleeve portion 530, and a valve head 540, wherein the valve head 540 comprises slits 550. The slit-type dispensing valve 500 is positioned by and between the flow control unit 150, in this case between the fluid guiding element 400 of the flow control unit 150, and the base element 200.
[0074] This detailed configuration ensures controlled dispensing of the fluid, with the flow control unit 150 and the slit-type dispensing valve 500 working in conjunction to regulate the flow and prevent leakage. The snap fitting engagement between the flow control element 300 and the fluid guiding element 400, as well as the sealing surfaces 262, 562, 542, and 442 provide secure and leak-proof connections within the dispensing closure assembly and between the various elements.
[0075] Figure 4 illustrates a partial cross-sectional view of a dispensing closure, highlighting the internal components and their spatial arrangement, now and have finally assembled status.
[0076] As can be well seen in figure 4, flow control element 300 and the fluid guiding element 400 are positioned and arranged such that, together with parts of the deck portion of the base element and, in this embodiment, with parts of the spout 210, a first intermediate volume VI and a second volume V2 are defined. The first intermediate volume VI is situated volume extending around the fluid guiding element 400, while the second volume V2 is located within the fluid guiding element 400. The slit-type dispensing valve 500 is positioned at the outer end of the fluid guiding element 400. The valve 500 is held in place by the fluid guiding element 400 and inner parts of the spout 210. The slit-type dispensing valve 500 includes a slit 550 through which the fluid is dispensed, when the dispensing valve opens when and after a certain, predetermined minimum pressure is created within the volume V2.
[0077] The fluid guiding element 400 is designed with a passage (generated by openings 344, not visible in figure 4) that allows fluid to flow from the first intermediate volume VI to the second volume V2. This passage is realized by multiple openings in the sidewall of the fluid guiding element 400 (in the specific embodiment 3 openings), facilitating the transition of fluid between the two volumes.
[0078] The flow control element 300 includes a deck portion 320 that extends parallel to the plane defined by the dispensing opening and perpendicular to the dispensing direction. The deck portion 340 is completely closed and has a larger extension in the direction perpendicular to the dispensing direction than the dispensing opening.
[0079] The outer portion 324 of the deck portion 320 of the flow control element 300 surrounds the center portion 322 of the deck portion 320 and has a wave-like structure. This structure ensures that some parts of the outer portion 530 have a larger distance from the dispensing opening in the dispensing direction than other parts.
[0080] As can be well seen in the specific cross-section shown in figure 4, the outer portion 324 of the deck portion 320 is lower on the right side and higher on the left side (due to the wavelike structure). In the specific embodiment, the outer portion 324 is even in contact with the deck portion 220 of the base element 200, so that at this specific position an entry of fluid or other product to be dispensed is prevented from entering into volume VI, while on the opposite side there is a certain distance between the outer portion 324 of the deck portion 320 and the deck portion, so that fluid can enter volume VI.
[0081] In this specific embodiment there are therefore various entry regions in various blocked regions, allowing or preventing entry of fluid or products to be dispensed into volume VI. However, it has to be noted that certainly also other designs are possible, also wavelike designs of the deck portion 320 of the flow control element 300, in which the deck portion 320 does not come into contact with the deck portion 220 of the base element 200, in which case fluid can enter the volume V 1 over the complete circumference of the outer portion 324 of the flow control element 300 or the flow control unit 150, respectively.
[0082] The slit-type dispensing valve 500 is positioned by and between the flow control unit 300 and the base element 200, ensuring a secure fit and proper alignment for fluid dispensing. The sealing surfaces 262, 562, 542, and 442 provides a sealing abutment between the various elements, as already outlined above but being better visible in the assembled status is shown in figure 4.
