Abstract

A means of lifting and manipulating a balcony 10 having a frame 200 and decking 30, for attachment to a building 50. An apparatus 1 may attach to the frame via engagement elements 252, 254, 256 passing through gaps 34 in the decking and may have a safety mechanism 260 with a pin 266, which when in a first position prevents detachment of the balcony from the frame and when in a second position allows the balcony to be detached. A sensor 253 may detect which position the pin is in. The apparatus may have a counterbalance 100 with an arm 110 allowing the apparatus to rotate between vertical and horizontal positions.
