Technical Field

[0007] The present disclosure relates to, for example, a wireless communication system, and more particularly to a frequency band configuration of a full-duplex time slot. Background Art

[0008] Wireless communication systems are widely deployed to provide various types of communication content such as voice, video, packet data, messaging, broadcasting, etc. These systems can support communication with multiple users by sharing available system resources (e.g., time, frequency and power). Examples of such multiple access systems include fourth generation (4G) systems such as long term evolution (LTE) systems, advanced LTE (LTE-A) systems or LTE-APro systems, and fifth generation (5G) systems that may be referred to as new radio (NR) systems. These systems may employ techniques such as code division multiple access (CDMA), time division multiple access (TDMA), frequency division multiple access (FDMA), orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) or discrete Fourier transform extended orthogonal frequency division multiple access (DFT-S-OFDM). A wireless multiple access communication system may include one or more base stations or one or more network access nodes, each of which simultaneously supports communication of multiple communication devices, which may be referred to as user equipment (UE) in addition.

[0009] Wireless multiple access technology has been adopted in various telecommunication standards to provide a common protocol that enables different wireless devices to communicate at municipal, national, regional, and even global levels. Example telecommunication standards are LTE and NR. LTE and NR aim to improve spectrum efficiency, reduce costs, improve services, utilize new spectrum, and better integrate with other open standards. LTE and NR can use OFDMA on the downlink (DL), single carrier frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA) on the uplink (UL), and use multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna technology.

[0010] In some cases, the user equipment (UE) and the base station may each support full-duplex communication (e.g., simultaneous exchange of both downlink and uplink communications). Examples of full-duplex communication modes may include intra-band full-duplex (IBFD) and sub-band full-duplex (which may be alternatively referred to as sub-band frequency division duplex (FDD)). For the IBFD communication mode, the downlink and uplink resources may fully or partially overlap in time and frequency. For the sub-band FDD communication mode, the downlink resources may be separated from the uplink resources in the frequency domain (e.g., by a guard band), but may overlap in the time domain. Summary of the invention

[0011] The described techniques relate to improved methods, systems, devices and apparatuses for supporting frequency band configurations for full-duplex time slots. For example, the described techniques provide techniques for indicating uplink and downlink frequency boundaries for full-duplex time slots.

[0012] A user equipment (UE) may receive a frequency configuration indication for a full-duplex time slot from a base station, and determine a downlink frequency band and an uplink frequency band based on the indication. In one example aspect, the frequency configuration indication may be a table-based implementation. For example, the frequency configuration indication may include an index to a table, wherein each entry in the table corresponds to a different frequency band configuration and specifies frequency boundaries of all downlink frequency bands, uplink frequency bands, and guard bands.

[0013] In another example aspect, the frequency configuration indication may be implemented as a bitmap. For example, the frequency configuration indication may include a bitmap in which each bit corresponds to a corresponding frequency range (e.g., each bit in the bitmap may correspond to a resource block (RB) or resource block group (RBG) of an operating frequency band). A bit of a first logic value (e.g., 1) in the bitmap may indicate that the corresponding frequency range is used for downlink communication within a time slot, and a bit of a second logic value (e.g., 0) may indicate that the corresponding frequency range is used for uplink communication within a time slot. The boundary between adjacent downlink and uplink frequency bands as indicated by the bitmap may be adjusted. For example, a guard band may be created or inserted between adjacent downlink and uplink frequency bands based on an adjustment. In some aspects, the boundary may be adjusted by a fixed amount or by different fixed amounts. In one example aspect, the UE may receive an indication of whether to adjust the boundary by reducing the downlink frequency band as indicated by the bitmap, the uplink frequency band as indicated by the bitmap, or any combination thereof (e.g., via radio resource control (RRC) signaling or control information such as downlink control information (DCI)).

[0014] In some example aspects, the frequency configuration indication may be based on multiple bitmaps, for example, for downlink frequency bands and uplink frequency bands that overlap in both time and frequency. The frequency configuration indication may include a first bitmap corresponding to the downlink frequency band and a second bitmap corresponding to the uplink frequency band. A bit of a first logical value (e.g., 1) within a bitmap (e.g., a first bitmap for a downlink frequency band, a second bitmap for an uplink frequency band) may indicate that the corresponding frequency range is activated ("turned on") for the relevant direction (e.g., downlink or uplink) within a time slot. A bit of a second logical value (e.g., 0) within a bitmap may indicate that the corresponding frequency range is deactivated ("turned off") for the relevant direction (e.g., downlink or uplink) within a time slot. In some other examples, for downlink frequency bands and uplink frequency bands that overlap in both time and frequency, the frequency configuration indication may include a starting frequency and length (size) indication for each frequency band.

[0015] In another example aspect, the frequency configuration of a full-duplex time slot may be applied to any subsequent full-duplex time slot until a new frequency configuration is indicated to the UE. Additionally or alternatively, two or more frequency configurations of full-duplex time slots may be indicated. Different frequency configurations may have different periodicities, which in some cases may cause any half-duplex time slots to be ignored for counting purposes.

[0016] The techniques described herein may provide advantages such as improved indication of frequency band configuration within a full-duplex time slot. The improvements to frequency band configuration may improve the efficiency, flexibility, or reliability with which frequency band configuration may be indicated for a full-duplex time slot, which may help save system resources, device resources, or spectrum resources, and bring other benefits that will be appreciated by those of ordinary skill in the art.

[0077] In some wireless communication systems, a user equipment (UE) may receive from a base station an indication of whether each symbol in a half-duplex time slot is an uplink symbol, a downlink symbol, or a flexible symbol that can be either uplink or downlink. Such indication may be referred to as a slot format indication (SFI) in some cases.

[0078] In the case where the UE supports full-duplex communication, the UE can exchange both downlink communication and uplink communication with the base station at the same time. Therefore, for a full-duplex time slot, both downlink communication and uplink communication can occur within any number of symbols in the time slot. As described herein, an indication (e.g., sent from a base station to a UE) can be used to indicate one or more frequency boundaries of different uplink and downlink frequency bands in a full-duplex time slot. Such an indication may be referred to as a frequency configuration indication or a frequency band configuration indication in some cases.

[0079] For example, a full-duplex time slot may be configured (e.g., by a base station) to include any number of downlink frequency bands and any number of uplink frequency bands, and the frequency configuration indication may specify to the UE the lower frequency limit and upper frequency limit of each downlink frequency band and the lower frequency limit and upper frequency limit of each uplink frequency band within the full-duplex time slot. The frequency configuration indication may also indicate or otherwise allow the UE to identify one or more guard bands (if any) between adjacent downlink and uplink frequency bands within the time slot. Based on the frequency configuration indication, the UE may monitor and receive one or more downlink communications within the downlink frequency band within the time slot, and the UE may also send one or more uplink communications using the uplink frequency band within the time slot.

[0080] In some cases, the frequency configuration indication may include an index to a table, wherein each entry in the table corresponds to a corresponding frequency configuration and specifies the frequency boundaries of all DL, UL and guard bands (if any) within a full-duplex time slot with the corresponding frequency configuration. In some cases, the frequency configuration indication may include or otherwise be associated with one or more bitmaps. Each bit of the bitmap may correspond to a corresponding frequency range within an operating frequency band, and the logic value of the bit may indicate whether the corresponding frequency range is used for uplink communication or downlink communication, or whether the corresponding frequency range is turned on or off (e.g., if the bitmap is dedicated to a communication direction). Therefore, a set of one or more continuous bits with the same logic value may indicate a frequency band. In some cases, an adjustment may be defined or indicated so as to introduce a guard band between adjacent frequency bands in different directions. In some cases, the frequency configuration indication may include an indication of the limits of the frequency band (e.g., the starting (lowest) frequency) of a full-duplex time slot and the length (e.g., span) of one or more frequency bands. In some cases, the frequency configuration indication may apply to multiple full-duplex time slots (e.g., may apply to all full-duplex time slots until a new frequency configuration indication is received, or may apply with a given periodicity, such as every other or every fourth full-duplex time slot).

[0081] Frequency configuration indication according to the description herein can allow the frequency band of the full-duplex time slot to be reliably and flexibly indicated to the UE with low signaling overhead, thus providing reliability, flexibility and efficiency benefits. For example, processing resources at the base station and the UE as well as signaling and other spectrum resources can be saved, and scheduling flexibility can be enhanced, as well as other benefits that can be understood by those of ordinary skill in the art.

[0082] Aspects of the present disclosure are initially described in the context of a wireless communication system. Aspects of the present disclosure are further illustrated and described through apparatus diagrams, system diagrams, and flow charts related to frequency band configuration of full-duplex time slots.

[0083] Figure 1 An example of a wireless communication system 100 supporting a frequency band configuration for full-duplex time slots according to various aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. The wireless communication system 100 may include one or more base stations 105, one or more UEs 115, and a core network 130. In some examples, the wireless communication system 100 may be a long term evolution (LTE) network, an LTE advanced (LTE-A) network, an LTE-A Pro network, or a new radio (NR) network. In some examples, the wireless communication system 100 may support enhanced broadband communications, ultra-reliable (e.g., mission-critical) communications, low-latency communications, communications with low-cost and low-complexity devices, or any combination thereof, etc.

[0084] The base stations 105 may be dispersed throughout a geographic area to form the wireless communication system 100, and may be devices of different forms or with different capabilities. The base stations 105 and the UEs 115 may communicate wirelessly via one or more communication links 125. Each base station 105 may provide a coverage area 110 over which the UEs 115 and the base stations 105 may establish one or more communication links 125. The coverage area 110 may be an example of a geographic area over which the base stations 105 and the UEs 115 may support communication of signals according to one or more radio access technologies.

[0085] The UEs 115 may be dispersed throughout the coverage area 110 of the wireless communication system 100, and each UE 115 may be fixed or mobile, or fixed or mobile at different times. The UEs 115 may be devices of different forms or with different capabilities. Figure 1 Some example UEs 115 are illustrated in FIG. 1. The UEs 115 described herein may be able to communicate with various types of devices, such as other UEs 115, base stations 105, or network devices (e.g., core network nodes, relay devices, integrated access and backhaul (IAB) nodes, or other network devices), such as Figure 1 shown.

[0086] Base stations 105 may communicate with core network 130, or with each other, or both. For example, base stations 105 may interface with core network 130 via one or more backhaul links 120 (e.g., via S1, N2, N3, or other interfaces). Base stations 105 may communicate with each other via backhaul links 120 (e.g., via X2, Xn, or other interfaces) directly (e.g., directly between base stations 105) or indirectly (e.g., via core network 130), or both. In some examples, backhaul links 120 may be or include one or more wireless links.

[0087] One or more of the base stations 105 described herein may include or may be referred to by a person of ordinary skill in the art as a base station transceiver, a radio base station, an access point, a radio transceiver, a NodeB, an eNodeB (eNB), a next generation NodeB or a giga-NodeB (any of which may be referred to as a gNB), a Home NodeB, a Home eNodeB, or other suitable terminology.

[0088] UE 115 may include or may be referred to as a mobile device, a wireless device, a remote device, a handheld device or a subscriber device, or some other suitable terminology, where a "device" may also be referred to as a unit, a station, a terminal or a client. UE 115 may also include or may be referred to as a personal electronic device, such as a cellular phone, a personal digital assistant (PDA), a tablet computer, a laptop computer or a personal computer. In some examples, UE 115 may include or be referred to as a wireless local loop (WLL) station, an Internet of Things (IoT) device, an Internet of Everything (IoE) device or a machine type communication (MTC) device and other examples, which may be implemented in various objects such as household appliances or vehicles, meters and other examples.

[0089] The UE 115 described herein may be able to communicate with various types of devices, such as other UEs 115 that may sometimes act as relays, as well as base stations 105 and network devices including macro eNBs or gNBs, small cell eNBs or gNBs, or relay base stations, etc. Figure 1 shown.

[0090] UE 115 and base station 105 can communicate with each other wirelessly via one or more communication links 125 on one or more carriers. The term "carrier" can refer to a set of radio spectrum resources with a defined physical layer structure for supporting communication link 125. For example, a carrier for communication link 125 may include a portion of a radio frequency spectrum band (e.g., bandwidth portion (BWP)) that operates according to one or more physical layer channels for a given radio access technology (e.g., LTE, LTE-A, LTE-APro, NR). Each physical layer channel can carry acquisition signaling (e.g., synchronization signals, system information), control signaling for coordinating operations for carriers, user data, or other signaling. The wireless communication system 100 can support communication with UE 115 using carrier aggregation or multi-carrier operation. UE 115 can be configured with multiple downlink component carriers and one or more uplink component carriers according to the carrier aggregation configuration. Carrier aggregation can be used for both frequency division duplex (FDD) and time division duplex (TDD) component carriers.

[0091] In some examples (e.g., in a carrier aggregation configuration), a carrier may also have acquisition signaling or control signaling that coordinates the operation of other carriers. A carrier may be associated with a frequency channel (e.g., an Evolved Universal Mobile Telecommunications System Terrestrial Radio Access (E-UTRA) Absolute Radio Frequency Channel Number (EARFCN)) and may be located according to a channel raster for discovery by a UE 115. A carrier may operate in a standalone mode, where initial acquisition and connection may be performed by a UE 115 via the carrier, or a carrier may operate in a non-standalone mode, where a connection is anchored using a different carrier (e.g., of the same or different radio access technology).

[0092] The communication link 125 shown in the wireless communication system 100 may include an uplink transmission from the UE 115 to the base station 105, or a downlink transmission from the base station 105 to the UE 115. A carrier may carry downlink or uplink communications (e.g., in FDD mode), or may be configured to carry both downlink and uplink communications (e.g., in TDD mode).

[0093] A carrier may be associated with a particular bandwidth of a radio frequency spectrum, and in some examples, the carrier bandwidth may be referred to as the "system bandwidth" of the carrier or wireless communication system 100. For example, the carrier bandwidth may be one of a plurality of determined bandwidths of a carrier for a certain radio access technology (e.g., 1.4, 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, 40, or 80 megahertz (MHz)). The devices of the wireless communication system 100 (e.g., base station 105, UE 115, or both) may have a hardware configuration that supports communication on a certain carrier bandwidth, or may be configured to support communication on one of a set of carrier bandwidths. In some examples, the wireless communication system 100 may include a base station 105 or UE 115 that supports simultaneous communication via carriers associated with multiple carrier bandwidths. In some examples, each served UE 115 may be configured to operate on a portion (e.g., subband, BWP) or all of the carrier bandwidth.

[0094] The signal waveform transmitted by the carrier may be composed of multiple subcarriers (e.g., using multi-carrier modulation (MCM) techniques, such as orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) or discrete Fourier transform spread OFDM (DFT-S-OFDM)). In a system employing MCM techniques, a resource element may include a symbol period (e.g., the duration of a modulation symbol) and a subcarrier, where the symbol period and the subcarrier spacing are anti-correlated. The number of bits carried by each resource element may depend on the modulation scheme (e.g., the order of the modulation scheme, the coding rate of the modulation scheme, or both). Therefore, the more resource elements received by UE 115 and the higher the order of the modulation scheme, the higher the data rate of UE 115 may be. Wireless communication resources may refer to a combination of radio spectrum resources, time resources, and spatial resources (e.g., spatial layers or beams), and the use of multiple spatial layers may further improve the data rate or data integrity of communications with UE 115.

[0095] One or more parameter sets for a carrier may be supported, where the parameter set may include a subcarrier spacing Δf and a cyclic prefix. A carrier may be divided into one or more BWPs with the same or different parameter sets. In some examples, a UE 115 may be configured with multiple BWPs. In some examples, a single BWP for a carrier may be active at a given time, and communications for a UE 115 may be restricted to the one or more active BWPs.

[0096] The time interval of the base station 105 or the UE 115 may be expressed as a multiple of a basic time unit. For example, the basic time unit may be T s =1 / (Δf max ·N f ) seconds sampling period, where Δf max It can represent the maximum supported subcarrier spacing, and N f The maximum supported discrete Fourier transform (DFT) size may be indicated. Time intervals of communication resources may be organized according to radio frames, each having a specified duration (e.g., 10 milliseconds (ms)). Each radio frame may be identified by a system frame number (SFN) (e.g., in the range of 0 to 1023).

[0097] Each frame may include multiple consecutively numbered subframes or time slots, and each subframe or time slot may have the same duration. In some examples, the frame may be divided (e.g., in the time domain) into subframes, and each subframe may be further divided into multiple time slots. Alternatively, each frame may include a variable number of time slots, and the number of time slots may depend on the subcarrier spacing. Each time slot may include multiple symbol periods (e.g., depending on the length of the cyclic prefix preceding each symbol period). In some wireless communication systems 100, the time slot may be further divided into multiple micro-time slots containing one or more symbols. In addition to the cyclic prefix, each symbol period may contain one or more (e.g., N f ) sampling period. The duration of a symbol period may depend on the subcarrier spacing or the operating frequency band.

[0098] A subframe, slot, mini-slot, or symbol may be the smallest scheduling unit (e.g., in the time domain) of the wireless communication system 100 and may be referred to as a transmission time interval (TTI). In some examples, the TTI duration (e.g., the number of symbol periods in a TTI) may be variable. Additionally or alternatively, the smallest scheduling unit of the wireless communication system 100 may be dynamically selected (e.g., in a burst of a shortened TTI (sTTI)).

[0099] Physical channels may be multiplexed on a carrier according to various techniques. Physical control channels and physical data channels may be multiplexed on a downlink carrier, for example, using one or more of a time division multiplexing (TDM) technique, a frequency division multiplexing (FDM) technique, or a hybrid TDM-FDM technique. A control region (e.g., a control resource set (CORESET)) for a physical control channel may be defined by the number of symbol periods and may extend over a system bandwidth or a subset of a system bandwidth of a carrier. One or more control regions (e.g., CORESETs) may be configured for a set of UEs 115. For example, one or more UEs 115 may monitor or search for a control region for control information according to one or more search space sets, and each search space set may include one or more control channel candidates of one or more aggregation levels arranged in a cascaded manner. The aggregation level for a control channel candidate may refer to the number of control channel resources (e.g., control channel elements (CCEs)) associated with a coding information format for a control information format having a given payload size. A search space set may include a common search space set configured for sending control information to multiple UEs 115 and a UE-specific search space set for sending control information to a specific UE 115.

[0100] Each base station 105 can provide communication coverage via one or more cells (e.g., macro cells, small cells, hot spots or other types of cells, or various combinations thereof). The term "cell" can refer to a logical communication entity used to communicate with the base station 105 (e.g., via a carrier), and can be associated with an identifier (e.g., a physical cell identifier (PCID), a virtual cell identifier (VCID), or other identifier) used to distinguish neighboring cells. In some examples, a cell can also refer to a geographic coverage area 110 or a portion of a geographic coverage area 110 (e.g., a sector) on which a logical communication entity operates. Depending on various factors such as the capabilities of the base station 105, these cells can range from smaller areas (e.g., structures, subsets of structures) to larger areas. For example, a cell can be or include a building, a subset of a building, or an external space between or overlapping geographic coverage areas 110, and the like.

[0101] A macro cell typically covers a relatively large geographic area (e.g., a radius of several kilometers) and may allow unrestricted access to UEs 115 that have a service subscription with a network provider that supports the macro cell. A small cell may be associated with a base station 105 that is less powerful than a macro cell, and the small cell may operate in the same or different (e.g., authorized, unauthorized) frequency band as the macro cell. A small cell may provide unrestricted access to a UE 115 through a service subscription with a network provider, or may provide restricted access to a UE 115 associated with a small cell (e.g., a UE 115 in a closed subscriber group (CSG), a UE 115 associated with a user in a home or office, etc.). A base station 105 may support one or more cells, and may also support communications on one or more cells using one or more component carriers.

[0102] In some examples, a carrier may support multiple cells, and different cells may be configured according to different protocol types (e.g., MTC, narrowband IoT (NB-IoT), enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB)) that may provide access to different types of devices.

[0103] In some examples, base stations 105 may be mobile and, therefore, provide communication coverage for mobile geographic coverage areas 110. In some examples, different geographic coverage areas 110 associated with different technologies may overlap, but the different geographic coverage areas 110 may be supported by the same base station 105. In other examples, overlapping geographic coverage areas 110 associated with different technologies may be supported by different base stations 105. The wireless communication system 100 may include, for example, a heterogeneous network in which different types of base stations 105 provide coverage for various geographic coverage areas 110 using the same or different radio access technologies.

[0104] The wireless communication system 100 may support synchronous or asynchronous operation. For synchronous operation, the base stations 105 may have similar frame timing, and transmissions from different base stations 105 may be approximately aligned in time. For asynchronous operation, the base stations 105 may have different frame timing, and in some examples, transmissions from different base stations 105 may not be aligned in time. The techniques described herein may be used for synchronous or asynchronous operation.

[0105] Some UEs 115 may be configured to employ a reduced power consumption operating mode, such as half-duplex communication (e.g., a mode that supports unidirectional communication via transmission or reception, but not simultaneous transmission and reception). In some examples, half-duplex communication may be performed at a reduced peak rate. Other power saving techniques for UE 115 include entering a power saving deep sleep mode when not engaged in active communications, operating over a limited bandwidth (e.g., according to narrowband communications), or a combination of these techniques. For example, some UEs 115 may be configured to operate using a narrowband protocol type that is associated with a defined portion or range (e.g., a set of subcarriers or RBs) within a carrier, within a guard band of a carrier, or outside a carrier.

[0106] The wireless communication system 100 can be configured to support ultra-reliable communication or low-latency communication or various combinations thereof. For example, the wireless communication system 100 can be configured to support ultra-reliable low-latency communication (URLLC) or mission-critical communication. UE115 can be designed to support ultra-reliable, low-latency or critical functions (e.g., mission-critical functions). Ultra-reliable communication can include private communication or group communication, and can be supported by one or more mission-critical services (such as mission-critical push-to-talk (MCPTT), mission-critical video (MCVideo), or mission-critical data (MCData). Support for mission-critical functions can include service prioritization, and mission-critical services can be used for public safety or general commercial applications. The terms ultra-reliable, low-latency, mission-critical, and ultra-reliable low-latency are used interchangeably herein.

[0107] In some examples, UE 115 can also communicate directly with other UE 115 via a device-to-device (D2D) communication link 135 (e.g., using a peer-to-peer (P2P) or D2D protocol). One or more UEs 115 utilizing D2D communication can be within the geographic coverage area 110 of the base station 105. Other UEs 115 in this group can be outside the geographic coverage area 110 of the base station 105, or otherwise unable to receive transmissions from the base station 105. In some examples, a group of UEs 115 communicating via D2D communication can utilize a one-to-many (1:M) system, in which each UE 115 transmits to each other UE 115 in the group. In some examples, the base station 105 facilitates scheduling resources for D2D communication. In other cases, D2D communication is performed between UEs 115 without involving the base station 105.

[0108] The core network 130 may provide user authentication, access authorization, tracking, Internet Protocol (IP) connection and other access, routing or mobility functions. The core network 130 may be an evolved packet core (EPC) or a 5G core (5GC), which may include at least one control plane entity (e.g., a mobility management entity (MME), an access and mobility management function (AMF)) for managing access and mobility and at least one user plane entity (e.g., a serving gateway (S-GW), a packet data network (PDN) gateway (P-GW) or a user plane function (UPF)) for routing packets or interconnections to an external network. The control plane entity may manage non-access stratum (NAS) functions associated with the core network 130 for UE 115 served by the base station 105, such as mobility, authentication and bearer management. User IP packets may be delivered through a user plane entity, which may provide IP address allocation and other functions. The user plane entity may be connected to an IP service 150 of a network operator. The operator IP service 150 may include access to the Internet, an intranet, an IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) or a packet-switched streaming service.

[0109] Certain network devices, such as base stations 105, may include subcomponents, such as access network entities 140, which may be examples of access node controllers (ANCs). Each access network entity 140 may communicate with UE 115 through one or more other access network transmission entities 145, which may be referred to as radio heads, smart radio heads, or transmit / receive points (TRPs). Each access network transmission entity 145 may include one or more antenna panels. In some configurations, the various functions of each access network entity 140 or base station 105 may be distributed across various network devices (e.g., radio heads and ANCs), or merged into a single network device (e.g., base station 105).

[0110] The wireless communication system 100 may operate using one or more frequency bands, for example in the range of 300 megahertz (MHz) to 300 gigahertz (GHz). The region from 300 MHz to 3 GHz is referred to as the ultra-high frequency (UHF) region or decimeter band because the wavelength ranges from approximately one decimeter to one meter in length. UHF waves may be blocked or redirected by buildings and environmental features, however, the waves may be sufficient to penetrate the structure for macro cells to provide services to UEs 115 located indoors. Transmission of UHF waves may be associated with smaller antennas and shorter distances (e.g., less than 100 kilometers) compared to transmission of smaller frequencies and longer waves using the high frequency (HF) or very high frequency (VHF) portion of the spectrum below 300 MHz.

[0111] The wireless communication system 100 can utilize both licensed and unlicensed radio spectrum bands. For example, the wireless communication system 100 can use license assisted access (LAA), LTE unlicensed (LTE-U) radio access technology, or NR technology in an unlicensed band such as the 5 GHz industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) band. When operating in an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band, devices such as base stations 105 and UEs 115 can use carrier sensing for conflict detection and avoidance. In some examples, operations in unlicensed bands can be based on carrier aggregation configurations (e.g., LAA) in conjunction with component carriers operating in licensed bands. Operations in unlicensed spectrum can include downlink transmissions, uplink transmissions, P2P transmissions, or D2D transmissions, as well as other examples.

[0112] The base station 105 or UE 115 may be equipped with multiple antennas that may be used to employ techniques such as transmit diversity, receive diversity, multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communications, or beamforming. The antennas of the base station 105 or UE 115 may be located within one or more antenna arrays or antenna panels that may support MIMO operations or transmit or receive beamforming. For example, one or more base station antennas or antenna arrays may be co-located at an antenna assembly such as an antenna tower. In some examples, the antennas or antenna arrays associated with the base station 105 may be located at different geographic locations. The base station 105 may have an antenna array with multiple rows and columns of antenna ports that the base station 105 may use to support beamforming for communications with the UE 115. Similarly, the UE 115 may have one or more antenna arrays that may support various MIMO or beamforming operations. Additionally or alternatively, the antenna panel may support radio frequency beamforming for signals sent via the antenna ports.

[0113] Beamforming (which may also be referred to as spatial filtering, directional transmission, or directional reception) is a signal processing technique that can be used at a transmitting device or a receiving device (e.g., a base station 105 or a UE 115) to form or direct an antenna beam (e.g., a transmit beam, a receive beam) along a spatial path between the transmitting device and the receiving device. Beamforming can be achieved by combining signals communicated via antenna elements of an antenna array so that some signals propagating in a particular direction relative to the antenna array experience constructive interference, while other signals experience destructive interference. Adjustments to signals communicated via antenna elements can include the transmitting device or the receiving device applying an amplitude offset, a phase offset, or both to signals carried via antenna elements associated with the device. Adjustments associated with each antenna element can be defined by a set of beamforming weights associated with a particular direction (e.g., relative to the antenna array of the transmitting device or the receiving device, or relative to some other direction).

[0114] The wireless communication system 100 can be a packet-based network operated according to a layered protocol stack. In the user plane, the communication at the bearer or packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) layer can be based on IP. The radio link control (RLC) layer can perform packet segmentation and reorganization to communicate on a logical channel. The medium access control (MAC) layer can perform priority processing and multiplex the logical channel into a transport channel. The MAC layer can also use error detection technology, error correction technology or both to support retransmission at the MAC layer to improve link efficiency. In the control plane, the radio resource control (RRC) protocol layer can provide the establishment, configuration and maintenance of the RRC connection (which supports the radio bearer for user plane data) between the UE 115 and the base station 105 or the core network 130. At the physical layer, the transport channel can be mapped to the physical channel.

[0115] The wireless communication system 100 can implement the band configuration of the time slot for full-duplex communication. For example, the base station 105 can provide an indication of the band configuration of the time slot. The indication of the band configuration can indicate at least one downlink band for downlink communication in the time slot and at least one uplink band for uplink communication in the time slot. In the example aspects described herein, the indication can be based on the implementation of the table, the bitmap implementation, the multi-bitmap implementation or any combination thereof (for example, the index of the table can indicate the bitmap, wherein each entry of the table includes or otherwise corresponds to the corresponding bitmap as described herein). The UE 115 can receive the indication and identify one or more downlink bands and one or more uplink bands of the time slot (or multiple time slots) based on the indication, as well as one or more guard bands in some cases. The UE 115 and the base station 105 can communicate via downlink communication in the downlink band and uplink communication in the uplink band in the time slot (or multiple time slots).

[0116] Figure 2 An example of a wireless communication system 200 that supports a frequency band configuration of full-duplex time slots according to aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. In some examples, the wireless communication system 200 can implement aspects of the wireless communication system 100.

[0117] The wireless communication system 200 may include UE 215-a and UE 215-b, which may be examples of UE 115 as described herein, respectively. The wireless communication system may also include base station 205-a and base station 205-b, which may be examples of base station 105 as described herein, respectively. Base stations 205-a and 205-b provide coverage areas that support signal communications according to one or more radio access technologies (e.g., NR, LTE, or both). The coverage area may be an example of coverage area 110 described herein. The radio access technologies may share the same carrier frequency or at least partially overlapping frequency ranges. It should be understood that references to the radio access technologies (e.g., NR, LTE) described herein are for illustrative purposes only, and different radio access technologies not specifically mentioned herein may be used interchangeably with the radio access technologies described herein.

[0118] The UE 115 and the base station 105 may each be configured to communicate according to a full-duplex communication configuration (e.g., supporting both downlink and uplink communications simultaneously) or a half-duplex communication configuration (e.g., supporting either downlink or uplink communications). Figure 2 In the example of , UE 215-a and base station 205-a can each be configured to communicate according to a full-duplex communication configuration. For example, UE 215-a and base station 205-a can each support communications including concurrent downlink transmissions 210-a and uplink data transmissions 220. In addition, in Figure 2 In an example of , UE 215-b can be configured to communicate with base station 205-b according to a half-duplex communication configuration. For example, UE 215-b can support communications including non-simultaneous downlink transmissions 210-b and uplink data transmissions (not shown).

[0119] In some cases, UE 215-a may be subject to interference due to signals sent or received at UE 215-a. For example, UE 215-a may be subject to uplink-downlink interference (e.g., self-interference) between downlink transmissions 210-a and uplink transmissions 220. In some cases, UE 215-a may be subject to interference due to transmissions between devices other than UE 215-a. For example, UE 215-a may be subject to interference 225-a from base station 205-b and interference 225-b from UE 215-b due to downlink transmissions 210-b between base station 205-b and UE 215-b. Figure 2 The examples shown in are not limiting, and any device (e.g., UE 215-b, base station 205-a, base station 205-b) that simultaneously transmits and receives signals may experience correlated self-interference.

[0120] In addition, full-duplex communication may occur in dual connectivity or in other situations where UE 115 communicates with more than one other device. For example, UE 215-a may achieve full-duplex operation by simultaneously receiving a downlink transmission from base station 205-b while sending an uplink transmission 220 to base station 205-a, regardless of whether UE 215-a also simultaneously receives a downlink transmission 210-a. For another example, base station 205-a may achieve full-duplex operation by simultaneously sending a downlink transmission 210-a to UE 215-a while receiving an uplink transmission (not shown) from UE 215-b, regardless of whether base station 205-a also simultaneously receives an uplink transmission 220.

[0121] Figure 3A and Figure 3B Examples 300-302 of full-duplex communication types that can be supported by frequency band configurations of full-duplex time slots according to various aspects of the present disclosure are illustrated. In some examples, examples 300-302 can be implemented by aspects of wireless communication system 100 and wireless communication system 200.

[0122] Figure 3A Examples 300 and 301 of in-band full-duplex (IBFD) communications are illustrated. Using IBFD, a device (e.g., UE 115, base station 105) can simultaneously transmit and receive on overlapping time and frequency resources (e.g., BWP, RB, resource elements) corresponding to a frequency configuration. For example, referring to Figure 2 The wireless communication system 200 and Figure 3AIn example 300, UE 215-a may receive downlink transmission 210-a via downlink resources 305 (e.g., BWP, RB, resource element) and send uplink data transmission 220 via uplink resources 310 (e.g., BWP, RB, resource element), wherein downlink resources 305 and uplink resources 310 completely overlap in time and frequency. For another example, referring to Figure 3B In example 301, downlink resources 305 and uplink resources 310 may partially overlap.

[0123] Figure 3B An example of sub-band frequency division duplex (FDD) communication 302 is illustrated. In the case of sub-band FDD, a device (e.g., UE 115, base station 105) can transmit and receive at the same time but on different (non-overlapping) frequency resources (e.g., corresponding to frequency configurations). For example, referring to Figure 2 In the wireless communication system 200, the UE 215-a may receive a downlink transmission 210-a via a downlink resource 305 and send an uplink data transmission 220 via an uplink resource 310. Figure 2 In the example of , downlink resources 305 and uplink resources 310 may overlap in the time domain, but not in the frequency domain. Downlink resources 305 may be separated from uplink resources 310 in the frequency domain, for example, by a guard band 315.

[0124] Figure 4 An example of a band configuration 400 that can be supported by a band configuration of full-duplex time slots according to various aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. In some examples, the band configuration 400 can be implemented by aspects of the wireless communication system 100 and the wireless communication system 200.

[0125] For example, refer to Figure 2 The wireless communication system 200 and Figure 4 In the frequency band configuration 400, UE 215-a can receive downlink transmission 210-a via downlink frequency bands 415-a and 415-b, and send uplink transmission 220 via uplink frequency band 420. Downlink frequency bands 415-a and 415-b may include downlink resources 405 (e.g., BWP, RB, resource elements). Uplink frequency band 420 may include uplink resources 410 (e.g., BWP, RB, resource elements). Figure 4 In the example shown, downlink frequency bands 415-a and 415-b may overlap with uplink frequency band 420 in the time domain, but not in the frequency domain. Downlink frequency bands 415-a and 415-b may be separated from uplink frequency band 420 in the frequency domain by a guard band in some cases, such as Figure 4 as shown in the example.

[0126] Downlink frequency bands 415-a and 415-b and uplink frequency band 420 may be indicated in a frequency band configuration for time slot 425. In some aspects, time slot 425 may include any combination of downlink frequency band 415, uplink frequency band 420, and guard bands. The frequency band configuration may apply to any number of time slots 425. In some examples, each time slot 425 may include any combination of downlink frequency band 415, uplink frequency band 420, and guard bands. In some aspects, frequency band configuration 400 may include multiple frequency band configurations, and each frequency band configuration may apply to any number or combination of time slots 425.

[0127] UE 215-a may receive a frequency configuration indication from a base station 105 (e.g., base station 205-a). A frequency configuration indication as described herein may also be referred to as a frequency configuration indication. For example, the frequency configuration indication may include one or more indexes of entries in a table. The indexes may correspond to and indicate rows of the table, respectively. In some aspects, the frequency configuration indication may indicate a table (e.g., from a set of multiple supported tables). In some example aspects, the table may be stored in a memory of the UE 215-a, the base station 205-a, or both.

[0128] The table may include multiple entries, and each entry in the table may correspond to different frequency band configurations. In some examples, each entry in the table (and therefore each corresponding index) may specify the frequency boundaries of one or more downlink frequency bands 415, uplink frequency bands 420 or guard bands associated with time slot 425. For example, each entry may indicate the limits (e.g., lower limit and upper limit) of the downlink frequency band 415 associated with time slot 425. In some examples, each entry in the table may indicate the limits (e.g., lower limit and upper limit) of the uplink frequency band 420 associated with time slot 425. In some other examples, each entry may indicate the limits (e.g., lower limit and upper limit) of the guard band associated with time slot 425. The length of the table may be based on the number of frequency band configurations. In some aspects, the frequency configuration indication may be indicated as a part of a downlink control information (DCI) message, and several DCI bits for indicating the index in the table. The length of the table may be based on the length of the table (the number of entries or rows in). For example, for a table with 256 frequency band configuration possibilities, a given row in the table may be indicated by a set of 8 bits in the DCI message.

[0129] In some examples, base station 205-a may communicate a format indication of time slot 425 (e.g., an indication of whether time slot 425 is a full-duplex time slot of a given format or a half-duplex time slot of a given direction, which in some cases may include an SFI) to UE 215-a, for example, via RRC or DCI signaling. Base station 205-a may additionally communicate the band configuration of time slot 425 via control information (e.g., DCI or MAC control element (MAC-CE)) using a frequency configuration indication (e.g., an index of an entry of a table, an index indicating a row of a table, a row in a table corresponding to the band configuration). In one example, base station 205-a may dynamically indicate the band configuration of time slot 425 via control information (e.g., DCI) included in a previous time slot or time slot 425.

[0130] UE 215-a may decode control information (e.g., DCI or MAC-CE) and based on the decoding identify a band configuration or a change to a band configuration of a time slot 425 (or multiple time slots 425). For example, UE 215-a may decode control information (e.g., DCI or MAC-CE) and based on the decoding identify an index indicating a band configuration or a change to a band configuration. In one example, based on the index, UE 215-a may identify a band configuration associated with time slot 425 (or multiple time slots 425). In one example, based on the index, UE 215-a may identify a frequency boundary of a downlink frequency band 415, an uplink frequency band 420, or a guard band associated with time slot 425 (or multiple time slots 425).

[0131] Additionally, it should be understood that the table-based aspects of the frequency configuration indication described herein may be combined with any one or more other examples of frequency configuration indication described herein. For example, the frequency configuration indication may include an index to an entry in a table, and the entry may include or otherwise correspond to one or more bitmaps, one or more starts and lengths of a frequency band, etc., according to any of the examples of frequency configuration indication described herein.

[0132] Figure 5 An example of a band configuration 500 that can be supported by a band configuration of full-duplex time slots according to various aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. In some examples, the band configuration 500 can be implemented by aspects of the wireless communication system 100 and the wireless communication system 200. The band configuration 500 can include downlink frequency bands 515-a and 515-b and an uplink frequency band 520 of a time slot 525. The downlink frequency bands 515-a and 515-b, the uplink frequency band 520, and the time slot 525 can be examples of aspects of the downlink frequency bands 415-a and 415-b, the uplink frequency band 420, and the time slot 425 described herein.

[0133] The base station 205-a may communicate a format indication of the time slot 525 to the UE 215-a, for example, via RRC signaling. The indication may indicate, for example, an indication of whether the time slot 525 is a full-duplex time slot. The base station 205-a may communicate another frequency configuration indication of the time slot 525 via control information (e.g., DCI). The frequency configuration indication may include, for example, a bitmap. In one example, the base station 205-a may dynamically indicate the frequency band configuration of each time slot 525 via control information (e.g., DCI).

[0134] UE 215-a can decode control information (e.g., DCI) and identify a band configuration or a change to a band configuration of a time slot 525 (or multiple time slots 525) based on the decoding. For example, UE 215-a can decode control information (e.g., DCI) and identify a bitmap based on the decoding. In one example, based on the bits within the bitmap, UE 215-a can identify a band configuration associated with time slot 525 (or multiple time slots 525). In one example, based on the bits within the bitmap, UE 215-a can identify a frequency boundary of a downlink frequency band 515, an uplink frequency band 520, or a guard band 530 associated with time slot 525 (or multiple time slots 525).

[0135] Each bit in the bitmap may correspond to a corresponding frequency range. For example, each bit in the bitmap may correspond to an RB (or a corresponding frequency range) within an operating frequency band. In some other examples, each bit in the bitmap may correspond to a physical resource group (PRG) (or a corresponding frequency range) within an operating frequency band. In one example, each PRG may include 2, 4, 8, or 16 RBs of an operating frequency band, but the size of each PRG is not limited thereto.

[0136] A bit of a first logic value (e.g., 1) within the bitmap may indicate that the corresponding frequency range is used for downlink communication within time slot 525 (e.g., downlink frequency band 515-a, downlink frequency band 515-b), and a bit of a second logic value (e.g., 0) may indicate that the corresponding frequency range is used for uplink communication within time slot 525 (e.g., uplink frequency band 520). Thus, different frequency bands (each frequency band consisting of one or more constituent frequency ranges corresponding to bits of the bitmap, respectively) may be indicated by a set of consecutive bits. For example, a set of consecutive bits of a first logic value (e.g., 1) may indicate a corresponding downlink frequency band (e.g., downlink frequency band 515-a, downlink frequency band 515-b), and a set of consecutive bits of a second logic value (e.g., 0) may indicate a corresponding uplink frequency band (e.g., uplink frequency band 520).

[0137] In some aspects, the boundaries between adjacent downlink and uplink frequency bands (e.g., the boundary between downlink frequency band 515-a and uplink frequency band 520, the boundary between downlink frequency band 515-b and uplink frequency band 520) as nominally (preliminarily) indicated by the bitmap can be adjusted, thereby determining one or more guard bands. The UE 115 can determine the guard band 530 that separates (is located between in the frequency domain) the adjacent downlink and uplink frequency bands based on these adjustments, for example.

[0138] For example, a guard band between adjacent (neighboring) downlink and uplink frequency bands may be determined by reducing the span of a preliminary downlink frequency band by a fixed amount, by reducing the span of a preliminary uplink frequency band by a fixed amount, or by reducing both the span of the preliminary downlink frequency band and the span of the preliminary uplink frequency band by a fixed amount.

[0139] For example, the UE 115 may determine a guard band 530-a between the downlink frequency band 515-a and the uplink frequency band 520. In some example aspects, the guard band 530-a may be determined by reallocating a portion of the downlink resources 505 (e.g., BWPs, RBs, resource elements) that were originally allocated (e.g., via a bitmap) to the downlink frequency band 515-a and closest to the adjacent uplink frequency band 520 by an amount "x" (e.g., a frequency range equal to the amount "x"), in which case the guard band 530-a may span a frequency range equal to the amount "x". As another example, the guard band 530-a may be determined by reallocating a portion of the uplink resources 510 (e.g., BWPs, RBs, resource elements) that were originally allocated (e.g., via a bitmap) to the uplink frequency band 520 and closest to the adjacent downlink frequency band 515-a by an amount "x" (e.g., a frequency range equal to the amount "x"), in which case the guard band 530-a may also span a frequency range equal to the amount "x". Although in either example the guard band 530-a may span a frequency range equal to the amount "x", the guard band 530-a may span a higher frequency in the first example than in the second example, the downlink band 515-a may be smaller in the first example than in the second example, and the uplink band 520 may be larger in the first example than in the second example.

[0140] And as another example, guard band 530-a may be determined by reallocating a portion of downlink resources 505 originally allocated (e.g., via a bitmap) to downlink frequency band 515-a (e.g., a first frequency range less than the amount "x", such as "x / 2") and a portion of uplink resources 510 originally allocated (e.g., via a bitmap) to uplink frequency band 520 (e.g., a second frequency range equal to the amount "x" minus the first frequency range). In this example, guard band 530-a may span a frequency range equal to the amount "x", downlink frequency band 515-a may be larger than the first example above but smaller than the second example above, and uplink frequency band 520 may be smaller than the first example above but larger than the second example above.

[0141] And as yet another example, guard band 530-a may be determined by reallocating a portion of downlink resources 505 originally allocated (e.g., via a bitmap) to downlink band 515-a (e.g., a first frequency range equal to quantity “x”) and a portion of uplink resources 510 originally allocated (e.g., via a bitmap) to uplink band 520 (e.g., a second frequency range equal to quantity “x”). In this example, guard band 530-a may span a frequency range equal to twice quantity “x” (e.g., a frequency range equal to quantity “2x”). The examples described with reference to the creation of guard band 530-a may also be used to determine guard band 530-b, such as a guard band relative to downlink band 515-b and uplink band 520 (and any other sets of adjacent bands that are directional).

[0142] In some examples, UE 215-a may receive an indication of whether to adjust the boundary by reducing the span of a preliminary downlink frequency band, by reducing the span of a preliminary uplink frequency band, or by reducing the span of both (e.g., via RRC signaling or control information such as a DCI). Additionally or alternatively, UE 215-a may receive an indication of the amount of reduction to be applied (e.g., via RRC signaling or control information such as a DCI) (e.g., an amount "x" or an indication of another amount of reduction as discussed in the above examples). Additionally or alternatively, UE 215-a may receive an indication of the size (span or granularity) of each corresponding frequency range for a bit of the bitmap (e.g., via RRC signaling or control information such as a DCI) (e.g., how large a frequency range is allocated to a single bit of the bitmap, such as how many RBs or resource block groups (RBGs) are allocated to a single bit of the bitmap), which may be referred to as the granularity of the bitmap.

[0143] Figure 6An example of a band configuration 600 that can be supported by a band configuration of a full-duplex time slot according to various aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. In some examples, the band configuration 600 can be implemented by aspects of the wireless communication system 100 and the wireless communication system 200. The band configuration 600 can include a downlink frequency band 615 and an uplink frequency band 620 that at least partially overlap in time (e.g., in a TDD frequency band) and frequency for a time slot 625. The base station 205-a can communicate a frequency configuration indication of the time slot 625 (or multiple time slots 625) via control information (e.g., DCI).

[0144] In some cases, the frequency configuration indication may include, for example, a set of bitmaps, each of which corresponds to a corresponding communication direction (e.g., a first bitmap for a downlink and a second bitmap for an uplink). Each bit within the bitmap may correspond to a corresponding frequency range. A bit of a first logical value (e.g., 1) within the bitmap may indicate that the corresponding frequency range is activated ("on") for the relevant direction within the bitmap 625. A bit of a second logical value (e.g., 0) within the bitmap may indicate that the corresponding frequency range is deactivated ("off") for the relevant direction (e.g., downlink or uplink) within the bitmap 625.

[0145] Thus, one or more sets of consecutive bits within a bitmap may indicate one or more frequency bands used for a direction associated with the bitmap. For example, a set of consecutive bits of a first logic value (e.g., 1) may indicate that the corresponding respective frequency range is activated ("on") for the associated direction (e.g., downlink or uplink). In some examples, a set of consecutive bits of a second logic value (e.g., 0) may indicate that the corresponding frequency range is deactivated ("off") for the associated direction (e.g., downlink or uplink). Thus, in Figure 6 In the example of , the downlink frequency band 615 can be indicated by a set of consecutive bits having a first logic value within the first bitmap, and the uplink frequency band 620 can be indicated by a set of consecutive bits having the first logic value within the second bitmap.

[0146] In some cases, the frequency configuration indication may include respective start and length indications for each of the downlink frequency band 615 and the uplink frequency band 620 of the time slot 625 (or multiple time slots 625). For example, the start indication of the frequency band may indicate an upper or lower limit of the frequency band, and the length indication of the frequency band may indicate the span (size, width) of the frequency band in the frequency domain.

[0147] UE 215-a can decode the frequency configuration indication applicable to time slot 625 and identify the frequency band configuration or the change of the frequency band configuration of time slot 625 (or multiple time slots 625) based on the decoding. For example, UE 215-a can decode control information (e.g., DCI) and identify a set of bitmaps (e.g., a first bitmap, a second bitmap) based on the decoding and interpret them as described herein. For another example, UE 215-a can decode control information (e.g., DCI) and identify the corresponding start indication and corresponding length indication of each frequency band included in time slot 625 based on the decoding.

[0148] In some cases, UE 215-a may receive an indication (e.g., via RRC signaling or control information such as DCI) of the size (span or granularity) of each corresponding frequency range for a bit of the bitmap (e.g., how large a frequency range is allocated to a single bit of the bitmap, such as how many RBs or RBGs are allocated to a single bit of the bitmap), which may be referred to as the granularity of the bitmap.

[0149] Figure 7 An example of a band configuration 700 that can be supported by a band configuration of full-duplex time slots according to various aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. In some examples, the band configuration 700 can be implemented by aspects of the wireless communication system 100 and the wireless communication system 200.

[0150] Band configuration 700 may be applied to time slots 735-a, 735-b, 740, 745-a, 745-b, and 745-c. Time slots 735-a, 735-b, 745-a, 745-b, and 745-c may be full-duplex time slots, and time slot 740 may be half-duplex time slots. Time slot 735-a may include downlink frequency bands 715-a and 716-a and uplink frequency band 720-a, and time slot 735-b may include downlink frequency bands 715-b and 716-b and uplink frequency band 720-b. Time slot 740 may include uplink frequency band 725. The time slot 745-a may include downlink frequency bands 730-a and 731-a and uplink frequency band 736-a, the time slot 745-b may include downlink frequency bands 730-b and 731-b and uplink frequency band 736-b, and the time slot 745-c may include downlink frequency bands 730-c and 731-c and uplink frequency band 736-c. Figure 7 They may be referred to as DL frequency band and UL frequency band respectively.

[0151] Downlink frequency bands 715, 716, 730, and 731 may be examples of downlink frequency bands 415, 515, and 615 described herein. Uplink frequency bands 720, 725, or 736 may be examples of uplink frequency bands 420, 520, or 620 described herein. Timeslots 735, 740, and 745 may be examples of aspects of timeslots 425, 525, or 625 described herein.

[0152] The base station 205-a may communicate, for example, via RRC or DCI signaling, an indication of the format of the time slots 735, 740, and 745 to the UE 215-a. The indication may include the format of the time slots 735, 740, and 745, for example, an indication of whether the time slots 735, 740, and 745 are full-duplex time slots or half-duplex time slots.

[0153] The base station 205-a may indicate (e.g., via one or more DCI messages) any number of frequency configuration indications for full-duplex time slots 735-a, 735-b, 745-a, 745-b, 745-c, each of which may be according to any example described herein.

[0154] In some cases, the frequency configuration indication for one full-duplex timeslot (e.g., timeslot 735-a) may apply to any subsequent full-duplex timeslot (e.g., timeslot 735-b) until a new (updated) frequency band configuration is indicated (e.g., until UE215-a receives a new frequency band configuration for timeslot 745-a from base station 205-a).

[0155] In some cases, two or more frequency band configurations for full-duplex time slots may be indicated, each frequency band configuration having a different periodicity. For example, every four full-duplex time slots may have a first frequency band configuration indicated based on a first frequency configuration, and every set of three intervening full-duplex time slots may have a second frequency band configuration indicated based on a second frequency configuration. It should be understood that these and any other specific numerical examples provided herein are merely for clarity of illustration and are not limiting. In some cases, the periodicity of the frequency band configuration may not include half-duplex time slots, and therefore, for counting purposes, UE 215-a may not consider half-duplex time slots (e.g., time slot 740) (e.g., when determining the frequency band configuration of subsequent full-duplex time slots based on periodicity). Therefore, in one example, UE 215-a may count the number of full-duplex time slots between time slot 735-a and time slot 745-c, wherein the count includes skipping any half-duplex time slots (e.g., time slot 740) between time slot 735-a and time slot 745-c.

[0156] Figure 8An example of a wireless communication system 800 that supports a frequency band configuration for full-duplex time slots according to various aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. In some examples, the wireless communication system 800 can implement aspects of the wireless communication system 100 and the wireless communication system 200. The wireless communication system 800 can include a UE 815, which can be an example of a UE 115 or a UE 215-a as described herein. The wireless communication system 800 can also include a base station 805, which can be an example of a base station 105 or a base station 205-a as described herein.

[0157] UE 815 may include a transceiver 820 and a band manager 825. For example, transceiver 820 may be a reference Fig.12 The frequency band manager 825 may be referred to as the transceiver 1220. Fig.10 and Fig.11 The frequency band manager 825 may be implemented by various aspects of the frequency band component 1020 or the frequency band component 1110 described above. The frequency band manager 825 may be implemented by various aspects of the processor, for example, referring to Fig.12 The processor 1240 described herein. The transceiver 820 and the band manager 825 can communicate with each other (e.g., via one or more buses). The transceiver 820 can send or receive radio frequency signals 830. The base station 805 can provide a coverage area 110-a that supports signal communications according to one or more radio access technologies (e.g., NR, LTE, or both). The coverage area 110-a can be an example of the coverage area 110 described herein. The radio access technologies can share the same carrier frequency or at least partially overlapping frequency ranges. It should be understood that references to the radio access technologies (e.g., NR, LTE) described herein are for illustrative purposes only, and different radio access technologies not specifically mentioned herein can be used interchangeably with the radio access technologies described herein.

[0158] UE 815 may receive a frequency configuration indication 811 for a time slot for full-duplex communication. Frequency configuration indication 811 may be a frequency configuration indication (also known as a band configuration indication) according to any of the examples described herein, either alone or in combination, and may indicate at least one downlink frequency band for downlink communication and at least one uplink frequency band for uplink communication within the time slot. In some examples, frequency configuration indication 811 may be included in a DCI message. Based on decoding frequency configuration indication 811, UE 815 may receive at least one downlink communication within the indicated downlink frequency band within the time slot, and UE 815 may send at least one uplink communication within the indicated uplink frequency band within the time slot.

[0159] In some examples, the frequency configuration indication 811 may include a reference Figure 4The UE 815 may identify the lower limit and upper limit of at least one downlink frequency band, the lower limit and upper limit of at least one uplink frequency band based on the index and the table. And in some cases, the UE 815 may identify at least one guard band between adjacent downlink and uplink frequency bands based on the index and the table.

[0160] In some examples, the frequency configuration indication 811 may include or otherwise indicate a reference Figure 5 The bitmap described herein. Each bit of the bitmap may correspond to a corresponding frequency range, and a bit having a first logical value may indicate that the corresponding frequency range is activated for one communication direction, while a bit having a second logical value may indicate that the corresponding frequency range is activated for another communication direction. One or more downlink frequency bands may be indicated at least in part by one or more sets of one or more consecutive bits within the bitmap, wherein each of the one or more consecutive bits has a first logical value. One or more uplink frequency bands may be indicated at least in part by one or more other sets of one or more consecutive bits within the bitmap, each having a second logical value. The UE 815 may determine the downlink frequency band based on a first set of one or more consecutive bits, each having a first logical value. The UE 815 may determine the uplink frequency band based on a second set of one or more consecutive bits, each having a second logical value.

[0161] In some cases, the frequency bands indicated by the bits of the bitmap may be preliminary, and one or more preliminary frequency bands may be reduced in frequency span to determine the guard bands. In some aspects, the UE 815 may receive an indication (e.g., included in the frequency configuration indication 811) of whether to reduce the preliminary downlink frequency band, the preliminary uplink frequency band, or both.

[0162] In some aspects, the UE 815 may reduce the preliminary downlink frequency band by a certain amount based on adjusting the limit of the preliminary downlink frequency band that is closest to the preliminary uplink frequency band in frequency. The UE 815 may determine the downlink frequency band based on reducing the preliminary downlink frequency band. Additionally or alternatively, the UE 815 may reduce the preliminary uplink frequency band by the amount based on adjusting the limit of the preliminary uplink frequency band that is closest to the preliminary downlink frequency band in frequency. The UE 815 may determine the uplink frequency band based on reducing the preliminary uplink frequency band. In some aspects, the guard band between the downlink frequency band and the uplink frequency band may span a frequency range of at least the amount. In some aspects, the guard band between the downlink frequency band and the uplink frequency band may span a frequency range of at least twice the amount.

[0163] In some examples, the frequency configuration indication 811 may include or otherwise indicate a reference Figure 6The described bitmap sets. For example, a first bitmap may correspond to a downlink direction and a second bitmap may correspond to an uplink direction. The downlink frequency band may be indicated by a first set of one or more consecutive bits within the first bitmap, each having a first logical value, and the uplink frequency band may be indicated by a second set of one or more consecutive bits within the second bitmap, each having a first logical value.

[0164] In some aspects, the bits of a bitmap as described herein may each correspond to a respective frequency range, and UE215-a may receive an indication of the size of each respective frequency range (e.g., via frequency configuration indication 811) (e.g., each respective frequency range may have the same indication size).

[0165] In some example aspects, the frequency configuration indication 811 may include or otherwise indicate a first indication of a limit (e.g., a starting frequency) of a downlink frequency band, a second indication of a frequency range (e.g., a length or size) of the downlink frequency band, a third indication of a limit (e.g., a starting frequency) of the uplink frequency band, and a fourth indication of a frequency range (e.g., a length or size) of the uplink frequency band.

[0166] In some aspects, the frequency configuration indication 811 can be for a time slot, and the UE 815 can identify that a second time slot is for full-duplex communication, the second time slot being after the time slot. The UE 815 can monitor for another frequency configuration indication for the second time slot, and in some aspects, if the UE 815 does not identify another frequency configuration indication for the second time slot, the UE 815 can determine that the frequency configuration indication 811 also applies to the second time slot.

[0167] In some aspects, the UE 815 frequency configuration indication 811 may be associated with (e.g., may indicate) a first periodicity, and a second frequency configuration indication (not shown) may be associated with a second periodicity. The UE 815 may determine that the frequency band configuration is for a first time slot based on the first periodicity, and the UE 815 may determine that the second frequency band configuration is for a second time slot based on the second periodicity, and the second time slot is after the time slot. In some aspects, the UE 815 may count the number of full-duplex time slots between the time slot and the second time slot. In one example, the count may include skipping any half-duplex time slots between the time slot and the second time slot.
