Description

Technical Field

[0001] The present invention relates to a carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) system, and more particularly to an adsorption unit with a spring structure for capturing carbon dioxide from ambient air. Background Art

[0002] Adsorption gas separation is a common industrial method. In recent years, in order to achieve climate protection goals, carbon dioxide is removed from industrial waste gas or the atmosphere. Therefore, this method is applied in a way that is suitable for favorable energy sources and related infrastructure (processing infrastructure) to reduce carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere and thus reduce the greenhouse effect.

[0003] Carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) systems involve the capture of carbon dioxide, typically from large point sources such as power generation or industrial facilities that use fossil fuels or biomass as fuel. CCUS systems can address emissions from hard-to-abate industries, particularly heavy industries such as cement, steel or chemicals. CCUS systems are the enabler of the lowest-cost, low-carbon production of hydrogen, which can support the decarbonization of other parts of the energy system, such as industry, trucks and ships. CCUS systems can remove carbon dioxide from the air to balance emissions that are unavoidable or technically difficult to abate.

[0004] Therefore, it is an important task for those skilled in the art to provide an adsorption unit that can efficiently capture carbon dioxide from ambient air. Summary of the invention

[0048] See also Figure 1 Schematic diagram of an adsorption unit 11 with a spring structure and an adsorption module 10 of the present invention is shown. The present invention aims to reduce the greenhouse effect, and for this purpose, provides an adsorption unit 11 with a spring structure for capturing carbon dioxide. Therefore, the present invention relates to an adsorption unit 11 with a spring structure for capturing carbon dioxide from ambient air. The ambient air referred to in the present invention includes industrial waste gas or atmosphere with carbon dioxide.

[0049] The present invention uses molecular sieve as an adsorption material for adsorbing carbon dioxide or water. The adsorption material is originally in powder form, and the adsorption unit 11 (adsorption unit) with a spring structure of the present invention has a granular adsorption material formed by sintering the powder adsorption material.

[0050] Molecular sieve is a solid chemical functionalized adsorbent material suitable for adsorbing carbon dioxide at a concentration of about 400ppm. Molecular sieve adsorbs carbon dioxide and water at room temperature (i.e. within 25 to 35 degrees Celsius), and the adsorption efficiency decreases with increasing temperature. When the temperature is higher than 60 degrees Celsius, the molecular sieve stops adsorbing and starts desorbing.

[0051] The components of molecular sieve include at least: K2O (potassium oxide), CaO (calcium oxide), Al2O3 (aluminum oxide), SiO2 (silicon dioxide) and Na2O (sodium oxide). The melting point of molecular sieve is about 2230 degrees Celsius. The density of molecular sieve particles is 0.65-0.8g / cm 3 between.

[0052] The present invention provides an adsorption unit 11 with a spring structure having a granular adsorption material. A plurality of adsorption units 11 with a spring structure can be stacked to form an adsorption module 10, and the adsorption module 10 also includes a frame as a mechanism for supporting the stacked adsorption units 11 with a spring structure. The adsorption module 10 is suitable for adsorption treatment in a room temperature environment and desorption treatment in a high temperature environment. Considering that the adsorption material can adsorb carbon dioxide or water at the same time, a plurality of adsorption modules 10 can also be used in conjunction with each other to promote the adsorption of water and carbon dioxide to increase the concentration of adsorbed carbon dioxide.

[0053] Figure 2 is a three-dimensional exploded schematic diagram of the adsorption unit 11 with a spring structure according to the first embodiment of the present invention; Figure 3 FIG. 1 is a three-dimensional schematic diagram of an adsorption unit 11 with a spring structure according to a first embodiment of the present invention. Figure 2 and Figure 3 The first embodiment of the present invention provides an adsorption unit 11 with a spring structure, which includes a frame 100, a plurality of limit springs 200 and a plurality of adsorption particles 300 (not shown).

[0054] See also Figure 2 and Figure 3 In this embodiment, the frame 100 has an air intake side 101 and an air exhaust side 102, the air intake side 101 and the air exhaust side 102 are open, and the rest of the frame 100 is closed. Specifically, the frame 100 has a pair of circulation plates 110 and a plurality of closing plates 120, and the circulation plates 110 are provided with holes and are open. The pair of circulation plates 110 are respectively arranged on the air intake side 101 and the air exhaust side 102 so that the air intake side 101 and the air exhaust side 102 are open, and the closing plates 120 surround the pair of circulation plates 110 and are connected between the pair of circulation plates 110 to close the rest of the frame 100.

[0055] See also Figure 2 and Figure 3In this embodiment, each limit spring 200 is a cylindrical helical spring. A gap 211 is provided on the side of each limit spring 200 to allow air circulation. The gap 211 is helical, but the present invention is not limited thereto. The limit spring 200 is disposed in the frame 100, and the limit springs 200 are substantially parallel to each other and spaced apart. Specifically, the two ends of each limit spring 200 are respectively connected to the frame 100 to fix the limit springs 200 to the frame 100.

[0056] Figure 4 FIG. 1 is a cross-sectional view of an adsorption unit with a spring structure according to a first embodiment of the present invention along the direction of air flow. Figure 3 and Figure 4 In this embodiment, the two ends of each limit spring 200 are respectively configured corresponding to the intake side 101 and the exhaust side 102. Specifically, the two ends of each limit spring 200 are respectively connected to each flow plate 110. A first space 201 is defined between the frame 100 and the limit springs 200, and a second space 202 is defined inside each limit spring 200.

[0057] See also Figure 3 and Figure 4 The adsorption particles 300 are granular adsorption materials, and the adsorption materials are molecular sieves. The adsorption particles 300 are arranged in the frame 100, and the particle size of the adsorption particles 300 is larger than the width 211w of the gap 211 of the limit spring 200. The adsorption particles 300 are restricted by the limit springs 200 and fixed in the frame 100 so that they are located between the intake side 101 and the exhaust side 102. In this embodiment, the adsorption particles 300 are arranged in the second space 202.

[0058] See also Figure 4 , air can enter the adsorption unit 11 with a spring structure from the environment through the air inlet side 101, and after passing through the adsorption unit 11 with a spring structure, it can be discharged from the adsorption unit 11 with a spring structure through the exhaust side 102. When the ambient air passes through the adsorption unit 11 with a spring structure, it can contact the adsorption particles 300 through each gap 211, so that the carbon dioxide and water carried by it are adsorbed by the adsorption particles 300. After part of the carbon dioxide and water are removed from the adsorption unit 11 with a spring structure, the air is discharged from the adsorption unit 11 with a spring structure through the exhaust side 102 and returns to the environment.

[0059] See also Figure 5 FIG. 1 is a schematic diagram of an adsorption unit 11 with a spring structure according to a second embodiment of the present invention. The second embodiment of the present invention provides an adsorption unit 11 with a spring structure, which includes a frame 100 , a plurality of limit springs 200 and a plurality of adsorption particles 300 .

[0060] See also Figure 2In this embodiment, the structure of the frame 100 and the limit spring 200 is the same as that of the first embodiment. That is, the frame 100 has an air intake side 101 and an air exhaust side 102, the air intake side 101 and the air exhaust side 102 are open, and the rest of the frame 100 is closed. Specifically, the frame 100 has a pair of circulation plates 110 and a plurality of closing plates 120, and the circulation plates 110 are provided with holes and are open. The pair of circulation plates 110 are respectively arranged on the air intake side 101 and the air exhaust side 102 so that the air intake side 101 and the air exhaust side 102 are open, and the closing plates 120 surround the pair of circulation plates 110 and are connected between the pair of circulation plates 110 to thereby close the rest of the frame 100.

[0061] In this embodiment, each limit spring 200 is a cylindrical helical spring, and a gap 211 is provided on the side of each limit spring 200 to allow air circulation, and the gap 211 is helical, but the present invention is not limited thereto. The limit spring 200 is disposed in the frame 100, and the limit springs 200 are substantially parallel to each other and spaced apart. Specifically, the two ends of each limit spring 200 are respectively connected to the frame 100 to fix the limit springs 200 to the frame 100.

[0062] In this embodiment, the two ends of each limit spring 200 are respectively configured corresponding to the intake side 101 and the exhaust side 102. Specifically, the two ends of each limit spring 200 are respectively connected to each flow plate 110. A first space 201 is defined between the frame 100 and the limit springs 200, and a second space 202 is defined inside each limit spring 200.

[0063] See also Figure 5 The adsorption particles 300 are granular adsorption materials, and the adsorption materials are molecular sieves. In this embodiment, the adsorption particles 300 are arranged in the first space 201, and the second spaces 202 form a flow channel connected between the intake side 101 and the exhaust side 102.

[0064] Therefore, air can enter the adsorption unit 11 with a spring structure from the environment through the air inlet side 101, and after passing through the flow channel, it can be discharged from the adsorption unit 11 with a spring structure through the exhaust side 102. When the ambient air passes through the flow channel, it can contact the adsorption particles 300 through each gap 211, so that the carbon dioxide and water carried by it are adsorbed by the adsorption particles 300. After part of the carbon dioxide and water are removed from the air in the flow channel, the air is discharged from the adsorption unit 11 with a spring structure through the exhaust side 102 and returns to the environment.

[0065] See also Figure 6 The schematic diagram of the adsorption unit 11 with a spring structure according to the third embodiment of the present invention is shown. The fourth embodiment of the present invention provides an adsorption unit 11 with a spring structure, which includes a frame 100, a plurality of limit springs 200a and a plurality of adsorption particles 300.

[0066] In this embodiment, the frame 100 has an air intake side 101 and an air exhaust side 102, the air intake side 101 and the air exhaust side 102 are open, and the rest of the frame 100 is closed.

[0067] In this embodiment, each limit spring 200a is a conical spiral spring, and a gap 211a is provided on the side of each limit spring 200a to allow air circulation, and the gap 211a is spiral, but the present invention is not limited thereto. The limit spring 200a is disposed in the frame 100, and the limit springs 200a are substantially parallel to each other and spaced apart. Specifically, the two ends of each limit spring 200a are respectively connected to the frame 100 to fix the limit springs 200a to the frame 100.

[0068] In this embodiment, the two ends of each limit spring 200a are respectively configured to correspond to the intake side 101 and the exhaust side 102. Specifically, the two ends of each limit spring 200a are respectively connected to each flow plate 110, and the narrower end of each limit spring 200a is configured to correspond to the exhaust side 102. A first space 201 is defined between the frame 100 and the limit springs 200a, and a second space 202 is defined within each limit spring 200.

[0069] The adsorption particles 300 are granular adsorption materials, and the adsorption materials are molecular sieves. The adsorption particles 300 are arranged in the frame 100, and the particle size of the adsorption particles 300 is larger than the width 211w of the gap 211a of the limit spring 200a. The adsorption particles 300 are restricted by the limit springs 200a and fixed in the frame 100 so that they are located between the intake side 101 and the exhaust side 102. In this embodiment, the adsorption particles 300 are arranged in the second space 202.

[0070] Therefore, air can enter the adsorption unit 11 with a spring structure from the environment through the air inlet side 101, and after passing through the adsorption unit 11 with a spring structure, it can be discharged from the adsorption unit 11 with a spring structure through the exhaust side 102. When the ambient air passes through the adsorption unit 11 with a spring structure, it can contact the adsorption particles 300 through each gap 211a, so that the carbon dioxide and water carried by it are adsorbed by the adsorption particles 300. After part of the carbon dioxide and water are removed from the adsorption unit 11 with a spring structure, the air is discharged from the adsorption unit 11 with a spring structure through the exhaust side 102 and returned to the environment.

[0071] See also Figure 7 FIG. 1 is a schematic diagram of an adsorption unit 11 with a spring structure according to a fourth embodiment of the present invention. The third embodiment of the present invention provides an adsorption unit 11 with a spring structure, which includes a frame 100 , a plurality of limit springs 200 a and a plurality of adsorption particles 300 .

[0072] In this embodiment, the frame 100 has an air intake side 101 and an air exhaust side 102, the air intake side 101 and the air exhaust side 102 are open, and the rest of the frame 100 is closed.

[0073] In this embodiment, each limit spring 200a is a conical spiral spring, and a gap 211a is provided on the side of each limit spring 200a to allow air circulation, and the gap 211a is spiral, but the present invention is not limited thereto. The limit spring 200a is disposed in the frame 100, and the limit springs 200a are substantially parallel to each other and spaced apart. Specifically, the two ends of each limit spring 200a are respectively connected to the frame 100 to fix the limit springs 200a to the frame 100.

[0074] In this embodiment, the two ends of each limit spring 200a are respectively configured to correspond to the intake side 101 and the exhaust side 102.

[0075] The adsorption particles 300 are granular adsorption materials, and the adsorption materials are molecular sieves. The adsorption particles 300 are arranged in the frame 100, and the particle size of the adsorption particles 300 is larger than the width 211w of the gap 211a of the limit spring 200a, and the adsorption particles 300 are limited by the limit springs 200a and fixed in the frame 100 so that they are located between the intake side 101 and the exhaust side 102. In this embodiment, the adsorption particles 300 are arranged in the first space 201, and the second spaces 202 form a flow channel connecting the intake side 101 and the exhaust side 102.

[0076] Therefore, air can enter the adsorption unit 11 with a spring structure from the environment through the air inlet side 101, and after passing through the flow channel, it can be discharged from the adsorption unit 11 with a spring structure through the exhaust side 102. When the ambient air passes through the flow channel, it can contact the adsorption particles 300 through each gap 211a, so that the carbon dioxide and water carried by it are adsorbed by the adsorption particles 300. After part of the carbon dioxide and water are removed in the flow channel, the air is discharged from the adsorption unit 11 with a spring structure through the exhaust side 102 and returns to the environment.

[0077] Figure 8 is a perspective exploded schematic diagram of an adsorption unit with a spring structure according to a fifth embodiment of the present invention; Fig. 9 FIG. 5 is a perspective view of a suction unit with a spring structure according to a fifth embodiment of the present invention. Figure 8 and Fig. 9 As shown, the fifth embodiment of the present invention provides an adsorption unit 11 with a spring structure, which includes a frame 100 and a plurality of limit springs 200b.

[0078] The frame 100 has an inlet side 101 and an outlet side 102 and a plurality of closing plates 120 . The inlet side 101 and the outlet side 102 are open. The closing plates 120 are arranged in a ring and connected between the inlet side 101 and the outlet side 102 to close the rest of the frame 100 .

[0079] In this embodiment, each limit spring 200 is a columnar helical spring, and a gap 211 is respectively provided on the side of each limit spring 200 to allow air circulation, and the gap 211 is helical, but the present invention is not limited thereto. The limit spring 200 is arranged in the frame 100, and the limit springs 200 are substantially arranged parallel to each other and spaced apart. Each limit spring 200b spans across the intake side 101 and across the exhaust side 102. Specifically, the two ends of each limit spring 200 are respectively connected to the frame 100 to fix the limit springs 200 to the frame 100. A first space 201 is defined between the frame 100 and the limit springs 200b, and a second space 202 is respectively defined within each limit spring 200b.

[0080] Fig.10 FIG. 5 is a cross-sectional view of an adsorption unit with a spring structure according to a fifth embodiment of the present invention along the direction of air flow. Fig. 9 and Fig.10 As shown, the adsorption unit 11 with a spring structure of the present embodiment further includes a plurality of adsorption particles 300. The adsorption particles 300 are granular adsorption materials, and the adsorption material is a molecular sieve. The adsorption particles 300 are arranged in the frame 100, and the particle size of the adsorption particles 300 is larger than the width 211w of the gap 211b of the limit spring 200b, and the adsorption particles 300 are restricted by the limit springs 200b and fixed in the frame 100 and located between the intake side 101 and the exhaust side 102. In the present embodiment, the adsorption particles 300 are arranged in the second space 202, and the first spaces 201 form a flow channel connecting the intake side 101 and the exhaust side 102.

[0081] Therefore, air can enter the adsorption unit 11 with a spring structure from the environment through the air inlet side 101, and after passing through the flow channel, it can be discharged from the adsorption unit 11 with a spring structure through the exhaust side 102. When the ambient air passes through the flow channel, it can contact the adsorption particles 300 through each gap 211b, so that the carbon dioxide and water carried by it are adsorbed by the adsorption particles 300. After part of the carbon dioxide and water are removed in the flow channel, the air is discharged from the adsorption unit 11 with a spring structure through the exhaust side 102 and returns to the environment.

[0082] The adsorption unit with a spring structure of the present invention has a frame and a flow direction of the airflow, and the adsorption unit with a spring structure also has a limit spring arranged in the frame. The limit spring can limit the adsorption particles to be arranged along the flow direction of the airflow to extend the time the air contacts the adsorption particles when passing through the adsorption unit with a spring structure, so that the adsorption particles can achieve better carbon dioxide and water adsorption efficiency for the air.

[0083] Fig.11 FIG. 6 is a schematic diagram of a suction unit with a spring structure according to a sixth embodiment of the present invention. Fig.11 The sixth embodiment of the present invention provides an adsorption unit 11 with a spring structure, which includes a frame 100, a plurality of limit springs 200c and an adsorption material 300a.

[0084] In this embodiment, the frame 100 has an air intake side 101 and an air exhaust side 102. The air intake side 101 and the air exhaust side 102 are open, and the rest of the frame 100 is closed. In this embodiment, each limit spring 200 can be a compression limit spring, a tension limit spring, a wave limit spring or a tower limit spring. The limit spring 200c is arranged in the frame 100. Each limit spring 200c can be as follows: Fig.11As shown, the two ends of the limit springs 200c are connected to the frame 100 respectively, and the limit springs 200c are fixed to the frame 100, and the limit springs 200c can be arranged parallel to each other, but the present invention is not limited thereto. For example, the limit springs 200c can also be placed in the frame 100 in a twisted state or a spiral state and respectively cross the intake side 101 and the exhaust side 102.

[0085] The adsorbent material 300a is a molecular sieve in powder form, and the adsorbent material 300a is attached to the surface of the limit spring 200. The adsorbent material 300a can be disposed on the surface of the limit spring 200c by spraying or sintering, but the present invention is not limited thereto. Therefore, the adsorbent materials 300a are restricted by the limit springs 200c and fixed in the frame 100 so that they are located between the intake side 101 and the exhaust side 102.

[0086] Air can enter the adsorption unit 11 with a spring structure from the environment through the air inlet side 101, and after passing through the flow channel, it can be discharged from the adsorption unit 11 with a spring structure through the exhaust side 102. When the ambient air passes through the flow channel, it can contact the adsorption material 300a, so that the carbon dioxide and water carried by it are adsorbed by the adsorption material 300a. After part of the carbon dioxide and water are removed in the flow channel, the air is discharged from the adsorption unit 11 with a spring structure through the exhaust side 102 and returns to the environment.
