Abstract
Description
BACKGROUND(a) Field of the invention
[0001] The present invention relates to a sensor position control apparatus and method, and more particularly to a sensor position control apparatus and method that simplify the adjustment of a sensor used for quality control of a vehicle. (b) Description of the related art
[0002] The manufacturing process of a vehicle typically involves assembling various parts. Furthermore, numerous coupling elements such as screws and bolts are screwed together during the assembly process.
[0003] A fastener's tightening error can affect the quality of the vehicle. Furthermore, it can lead to an accident if the vehicle's safety is reduced. Therefore, careful tightening control is performed during the vehicle manufacturing process to detect tightening errors. Tightening control can be achieved using a plurality of sensors installed along a production line to detect the tightening positions. Furthermore, the degree of tightening control can be finely adjusted depending on the sensor installation positions. Therefore, the optimal sensor positions are determined through repeated testing.
[0004] However, whenever the sensor positions are changed during repeated testing, a laborious sensor readjustment process is required. Furthermore, if a problem occurs during production line operation that requires sensor readjustment, the production line will be halted until the sensor readjustment is completed. Furthermore, sensor readjustment requires skilled personnel, so the production line may be down for extended periods.
[0005] From JP 2007 093 075 A, a sensor position control device is known, comprising: a guide rail extending in its longitudinal direction; a position control unit coupled to the guide rail and configured to slide longitudinally along the guide rail 21; a sensor mounting unit coupled for movement together with the position control unit and having a sensor installed on a surface; an angle control unit configured to change the direction in which a surface of the sensor mounting unit with the sensor installed thereon faces; a position control drive unit configured to transmit voltage to the position control unit; and an angle control drive unit configured to transmit voltage to the angle control unit.
[0006] The above statements in this section serve only to better understand the background of the invention and may therefore contain information that does not form part of the state of the art already known to the average person skilled in the art in this country. SUMMARY

If the measured bolting position detection performance of the sensor does not meet the reference performance, the calculation of the target position of the sensor can be repeated. If the measured bolting position detection performance of the sensor meets the reference performance, the process can be terminated. [0020] An embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings.
[0021] Fig. 1 is an exemplary view of a sensor position control device according to an embodiment of the present invention. Fig. 2 is an exemplary front view of the sensor position control device according to the embodiment of the present invention.
[0022] As in the Fig. 1 and Fig. 2, the sensor position control device 10 according to the embodiment of the present invention may include: a guide rail 110, a position control unit 100, a position control drive unit 130, a sensor mounting unit 230, a ball housing unit 240, an angle control unit 200, and an angle control drive unit 210.
[0023] The guide rail 110 may have a three-dimensional shape with a length, width, and thickness. Furthermore, the guide rail 110 may extend in one direction corresponding to the longitudinal direction. This one direction corresponds to the longitudinal direction of the guide rail 110. Furthermore, the position control unit 100 may be coupled to the guide rail 110 such that it slides longitudinally along the guide rail 110. Furthermore, the position control unit 100 may be arranged on a surface of the guide rail 110.
[0024] The position control drive unit 130 may be configured to supply voltage for moving the position control unit 100 in the longitudinal direction of the guide rail 110. In other words, the position control drive unit 130 may include an electric motor configured to convert electrical energy into mechanical energy. The electric motor may be replaced by another device for generating mechanical energy. The connection between the position control unit 100 and the electric motor arranged in the position control drive unit 130 for generating mechanical energy can be implemented in various ways by those skilled in the art.
[0025] A sensor 20 can be installed in the sensor mounting unit 230. Furthermore, the sensor mounting unit 230 can be connected to the position control unit 100 and moved together with the position control unit 100, with the position control unit 100 sliding. The sensor 20 can include a sensor used for vehicle quality control. In particular, the sensor can be used for screw connection control of the vehicle. Furthermore, the sensor 20 can be configured to detect a screw connection position.
[0026] Now, based on Fig. 4 the shape of the sensor mounting unit 230 is described as follows. Fig. 4 is an exemplary view of the sensor mounting unit according to the embodiment of the present invention.
[0027] The sensor mounting unit 230 may include a ball 234, a sensor mounting plate 232, and a nose 236. The ball 234 may be spherically shaped, and the sensor mounting plate 232 may be formed at one end of the ball 234. Further, the sensor mounting plate 232 may have a plate shape, and the sensor 20 may be installed on a surface of the plate-shaped sensor mounting plate 232. The nose 236 may be formed at the other end of the ball 234. Furthermore, the nose 236 may be shaped to protrude from the ball 234. In other words, the nose 236 may be formed in the opposite direction of the sensor mounting plate 232. The ball housing unit 240 may be arranged above the position control unit 100. Further, the ball housing unit 240 may be coupled to columns 102 formed on the position control unit 100.
[0028] Now, based on Fig. 5, the shape of the ball housing unit 240 and the position control unit 100 is described as follows. Fig. 5 is an exemplary view of the ball housing unit and the position control unit according to the embodiment of the present invention.
[0029] The ball housing unit 240 may be formed three-dimensionally with a length, width, and thickness. The ball housing unit 240 may include a ball receiving recess 242.
[0030] The ball receiving recess 242 may be configured to receive the ball 234. In other words, the ball 234 may be placed in the ball receiving recess 242. The ball receiving recess 242 may be molded into the ball housing unit 240, and the ball 234 may be partially exposed on both sides of the ball housing unit 240 with the ball receiving recess 242. That is, the thickness of the ball housing unit 240 may be smaller than the diameter of the ball 234. Further, the ball receiving recess 242 may be formed in a shape corresponding to that of the ball 234. Therefore, circular openings exposing the ball 234 may be formed in both side surfaces of the ball housing unit 240. Furthermore, the circles of the two openings may have a smaller diameter than the ball 234, thus preventing the ball 234 from falling out of the ball receiving recess 242.The insertion of the ball 234 can be carried out in such a way that the ball 234 is received in the ball receiving recess 242 by the elastic deformation of the ball housing unit 240.
[0031] The position control unit 100 may include a groove 104 and the columns 102. The groove 104 provides a space in which the nose 236 of the sensor mounting unit 230 can be arranged. In other words, the groove 104 provides a space for the arrangement and movement of the nose 236. Furthermore, the formation of the groove 104 improves the flexibility regarding the length of the nose 236.
[0032] The plurality of columns 102 may be configured to protrude from a surface of the position control unit 100. Fig. 5 shows that four columns 102 protrude from a surface of the position control unit 100. Furthermore, two or more through holes 106 may be formed through each of the columns 102. Fig. 5 shows that a column 102 can have two through-openings 106. Furthermore, two through-openings 106 in a column 102 can be formed to extend obliquely. In other words, two through-openings 106 formed in a column 102 can lie in different planes. The through-openings 106 located in a plane of adjacent columns can extend through the columns in the same direction.
[0033] The angle control unit may be configured to control the nose 236 to change the direction in which a surface of the sensor mounting plate 232 with the sensor 20 installed thereon faces. The ball 234 may be caused to roll when the ball 234 is received in the ball receiving recess 242. Further, the ball 234 may be caused to roll when the nose 236 is moved by the angle control unit 200. The angle control drive unit 210 may be configured to supply voltage so that the angle control unit 200 can control the movement of the nose 236. Further, the angle control drive unit 210 may include a motor 212, a guide rod 214, and a locking portion 216. The motor 212 may be an electric motor that converts electrical energy into mechanical energy.
[0034] The guide rod 214 may have a cylindrical shape, with a length greater than a width. Furthermore, one end of the guide rod 214 may be connected to the motor 212 so as to be rotated circumferentially by the motor 212. Furthermore, the guide rod 214 may have a thread on its outer periphery. Furthermore, the guide rod 214 may be coupled to the columns 102 of the position control unit 100. Furthermore, the guide rod 214 may be coupled to the columns 102 so that portions of the guide rod 214 can be inserted into the through-hole 106 of one column 102 and the through-hole 106 of another adjacent column 102 located on the same plane. Four guide rods 214 may be coupled to four columns in the manner described above. The portion of the outer periphery of the guide rod 214 that is inserted into the column 102 may not have a thread.
[0035] The locking portion 216 may be disposed at the other end of the guide rod 214. Furthermore, the locking portion 216 may be configured to prevent the other end of the guide rod 214 from detaching from the column. In other words, the motor 212 and the locking portion 216 may be disposed at both ends of the guide rod 214, and the two adjacent columns 102 may be disposed between the motor 212 and the locking portion 216. When the locking portion 216 and the motor 212 are locked with the two adjacent columns 102 outside the columns 102, the guide rod 214 may be prevented from detaching from the columns.
[0036] Fig. 3 is an exemplary plan view of the sensor position control device according to the embodiment of the present invention. In Fig. 3, the sensor mounting unit 230 and the ball housing unit 240 have been omitted. However, the position of the nose 236 is marked with a dotted line. Fig. 3, that four guide rods 214 are coupled to four columns in the manner described above. As in Fig. As shown in Figure 3, the two angle control units 200 can be provided for the four angle control drive units 210. Furthermore, the angle control unit 200 can move in the longitudinal direction of the guide rod 214.
[0037] Based on Fig. 6, the shape and operation of the angle control unit 200 are described as follows. Fig. 6 is an exemplary view of the angle control unit according to the embodiment of the present invention.
[0038] The angle control unit 200 may include an angle control rod 204, an actuator unit 202, and a threaded opening 206. The angle control rod 204 may include two parallel rods. Further, the two angle control rods 204 may be arranged to be spaced apart by a predetermined distance. That is, the one angle control unit 200 may include two angle control rods 204.
[0039] The actuating unit 202 may be formed at both ends of the angle control rods 204. In other words, the one angle control unit 200 may include two actuating units 202. Further, the two angle control rods 204 may be arranged between the two actuating units 202 and configured to connect the two actuating units 202. The threaded opening 206 may be formed through the actuating unit 202. Further, the threaded opening 206 may be formed in a perpendicular direction relative to the two parallel angle control rods 204. Further, the threaded opening 206 may have threads on its inner circumference, wherein the threads may correspond to the threads on the outer circumference of the guide rod 214.
[0040] When the guide rod 214 is inserted through the threaded opening 206, the angle control drive unit 210 and the angle control unit 200 can be coupled to each other. Therefore, the one angle control unit 200 can be coupled to two angle control drive units 210. In other words, the one angle control unit 200 and the two angle control drive units 210 can form an assembly. Furthermore, the actuating unit 202 can be arranged between the two adjacent columns 102. When the guide rod 214 rotates upon operation of the motor 212, the angle control unit 200 can be moved in the longitudinal direction of the guide rod 214 by the thread in the threaded opening 206. Furthermore, two motors can be operated in one assembly to achieve smooth operation.
[0041] Fig. 3 shows two assemblies, each containing an angle control unit 200 and two angle control drive units 210. The angle control rods 204 of one assembly cross the angle control rods 204 of the other assembly at right angles. Two parallel angle control rods 204 of one assembly cross two parallel angle control rods 204 of another assembly, so that a rectangular frame can be formed in the center. The nose 236 can be arranged inside the rectangular frame. Therefore, when the position of the rectangular frame changes, the nose 236 can be moved together with the rectangular frame.
[0042] The Fig. 7 and Fig. 8 are exemplary diagrams illustrating the angle control operation of the sensor position control device according to the embodiment of the present invention. Fig. 7 shows a state in which the angle control in the plan view of Fig. 3 is executed. Fig. 8 shows a state in which the angle control in the front view of Fig. 2 is executed.
[0043] As in the Fig. 7 and Fig. As shown in Figure 8, when the motor 212 is operating, the actuator unit 202 can be moved in the longitudinal direction of the guide rod 214. Then, the angle control unit 200 can be moved, and the angle control rod 204 can move the nose 236.
[0044] Fig. 7 shows that one of the two actuator units 202 in an assembly can be moved in a direction away from the motor 212, and the other can be moved in a direction toward the motor 212. However, the two motors 212 in one assembly can also be arranged in the same direction, and the two actuator units 202 can be operated so that they are simultaneously located away from the two motors 212 or near the two motors 212. The arrangement of the angle control drive unit 210 and the angle control unit 200 can be changed by one skilled in the art depending on the design.
[0045] When the nose 236 is moved, the ball 234 is caused to roll in the receiving recess 242. This changes the direction in which a surface of the sensor mounting plate 232 with the sensor 20 installed thereon faces.
[0046] The Fig. 7 and Fig. 8 illustrate the operation of an assembly including the angle control drive units 210 and the angle control unit 200. However, another assembly may operate in the same manner. Furthermore, two assemblies may be used simultaneously. Therefore, the angle of the sensor 20 can be controlled in different ways.
[0047] Since the four guide rods 214 can be connected to the eight obliquely formed through holes 106 in the manner described above, one assembly of the angle control drive units 210 of the angle control unit 200 can be actuated without interfering with another assembly.
[0048] Fig. 9 is an exemplary flowchart of a sensor position control method according to the embodiment of the present invention.
[0049] Fig. 2 shows that an electronic control unit 30 may be connected to the sensor 20, the position control drive unit 130, and the angle control drive unit 210, and a database 40 may be connected to the electronic control unit 30. In particular, the electronic control unit 30 may include a typical electronic control unit (ECU) configured to operate the electronic devices. Since the general functions of the electronic control unit 30 and the database 40 are known to those skilled in the art, a detailed description is omitted here.
[0050] The electronic control unit 30 and the database 40 may be arranged in a vehicle production line, and the database 40 may be integrated into the electronic control unit 30. Furthermore, the electronic control unit 30 may be configured to receive data from the database 40, state information of the sensor 20 from the database 40 and from the sensor 20, and to operate the position control drive unit 130 and the angle control drive unit 210.
[0051] If, as in Fig.9, the sensor position control is started (S100), the electronic control unit 30 may be configured to first measure the performance of the sensor 20 in detecting a screwing position (S110). The sensor position control may be started according to an operator's request when the sensor 20 is first set on a vehicle production line where quality control including a screwing inspection of the vehicle is performed, and when the sensor 20 needs to be readjusted during operation of the vehicle production line. Furthermore, the performance of the sensor 20 in detecting a screwing position may be repeatedly measured based on the data previously input into the database 40.
[0052] When the performance of the sensor 20 to detect a tightening position is measured (S110), the electronic control unit 30 may be configured to calculate the target position of the sensor 20 (S120). The target position of the sensor 20 may be calculated based on the data stored in the database 40. When the target position of the sensor 20 is calculated (S120), the electronic control unit 30 may be configured to correct the position of the sensor 20 (S130). The position correction of the sensor 20 may be performed by the sensor position control device 10 when the electronic control unit 30 actuates the position control drive unit 130 and the angle control drive unit 210. Furthermore, the corrected position value may be stored in the database 40 at the same time as the position of the sensor 20 is corrected (S130).
[0053] When the position correction of the sensor 20 is completed, the electronic control unit 30 may be configured to re-measure the tightening position detection performance of the sensor 20 (S140). When the repeated measurement is completed (S140), the electronic control unit 30 may be configured to determine whether the measured performance of the sensor 20 meets the reference performance (S150). The reference performance of the sensor 20 may be obtained from the data stored in the database 40.
[0054] If the performance of sensor 20 does not meet the reference performance, the procedure returns to step S120. If the performance of sensor 20 meets the reference performance, the position control process of sensor 20 can be terminated (S160).
[0055] According to the above-described embodiment of the present invention, since the position adjustment of the sensor 20 can be performed automatically, a complicated and tedious sensor adjustment process can be avoided, and the time required for sensor adjustment can be shortened. Furthermore, since the production line operation is not stopped during sensor readjustment, productivity can be improved. Furthermore, since the position adjustment of the sensor is performed based on the measured data, the position adjustment of the sensor can be performed precisely and optimally, and overall quality control can be improved.
[0056] Although this invention has been described in connection with embodiments presently believed to be practical, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited to the disclosed embodiments, but on the contrary is intended to cover various modifications and equivalent arrangements within the spirit and scope of the appended claims.
