Abstract
Description
[0001] The present invention relates to a shut-off and flow adjustment valve, in particular for urinals and toilet bowls.
[0002] Typically, time-delayed automatic closing taps for flushing urinals or toilet bowls must be connected to a water supply network via a shut-off valve so that the components of these taps can be dismantled, particularly for maintenance purposes, and so that the flow rate can be adjusted, for example, to suit the shape of the toilet bowl or urinal bowl.
[0003] Document US 5 388 610 A describes a faucet for toilet bowls having a device on the front for dampening pressure surges in pipes. However, such a device does not constitute a shut-off valve in any way. Document US 2009 / 0 283 156 A1 describes a shut-off valve for toilet bowls having a means for closing the water supply and automatically adjusting the flow rate. This means consists of a finger that moves perpendicular to the water flow and more or less closes off the water inlet. Maintenance of such a faucet is not easy, and its functionality is not entirely satisfactory. Furthermore, this device has the further disadvantage of causing a significant loss of pressure and considerable noise.Document US 3 008 682 A relates to a water flush having a tap designed to adjust the flow rate, which is expensive and bulky. Document DE 89 12 699 U1 relates to a shut-off tap with an integrated anti-backflow flap. This ball valve is not suitable for adjusting the flow rate at all. CN 2 211 519 Y discloses a tap having a hollow body and, arranged therein, a movable control body, by whose movement the tap can be opened and closed. However, this tap does not allow for sufficiently good adjustability of the water flow.
[0004] An object of the present invention is to provide a shut-off and flow-adjusting tap, particularly for urinals and toilet bowls, which makes it possible to overcome the disadvantages of currently known taps. Another object of the present invention is to provide such a shut-off and flow-adjusting tap that can be integrated into a time-delayed faucet, thereby reducing the cost of the entire installation. Another object of the present invention is to provide such a shut-off and flow-adjusting tap that allows for progressive flow adjustment and, moreover, can ensure that the shut-off tap does not cause noise pollution, regardless of the position of the flap opening for allowing water supply.
[0005] These objectives, as well as some others which will become apparent hereinafter, are achieved by a shut-off and flow adjustment valve which, according to the present invention, is characterized in that it comprises a sleeve having two sections, a first section having a blind hole along its longitudinal axis and being provided at its free end with first fixing means for a fluid supply line, a second section being made of solid material and having at its free end second fixing means for a device for dispensing fluid, the first section being pierced by radial openings and having means for more or less closing these radial openings, the means for more or less closing the radial openings comprising, on the one hand, an adjusting sleeve with an internal thread arranged externally around the first section of the sleeve, and, on the other hand, a thread, which is arranged on the sleeve between the first fixing means and the radial openings and corresponds to the internal thread of the adjusting sleeve.,
[0006] Preferably, the diameter of the second section is smaller than the diameter of the first section, thereby providing a step at the level of the transition between the two sections, said step forming a stop for fixing the device for dispensing fluid.
[0007] Preferably, the first and second fixing means are designed as threads.
[0008] Preferably, the radial openings are arranged on a circle near the bottom of the blind hole.
[0009] In one embodiment, the device for dispensing fluid is a faucet: between the step of the sleeve and the interior of the body of the faucet, a conically beveled washer is arranged, on the concave side of which a sealing ring is arranged captively to the step, which sealing ring, preferably, has a stop surface for a front side of the adjusting sleeve when the latter is arranged in such a position that it completely closes the radial openings.
[0010] Preferably, the shut-off and flow adjustment valve comprises a decorative rosette which interacts rotationally with the adjustment sleeve via a system of grooves.
[0011] The following description is in no way limiting but should be read with reference to the single attached figure, which shows a sectional view of a single shut-off and flow-adjusting valve according to the present invention with a partial sectional view of a faucet fixed to such a shut-off and flow-adjusting valve.
[0012] As can be seen from this figure, the shut-off and flow adjustment valve, which is designated in its entirety by the reference numeral 1, is, in the present embodiment, integrated into a faucet 2, such as a time-delayed faucet, which is an example of a device for dispensing fluid. This shut-off valve comprises a sleeve 3 divided into two sections: a first section 3a comprises a blind hole 4 along its longitudinal axis and is equipped at its open end with first fixing means 5 for connection to a supply line for fluid, such as water; the second section 3b is made of solid material and is equipped at its free end with second fixing means 6 for connection to a device for dispensing fluid, such as water, such as a time-delayed faucet 2.The first section 3a of this sleeve 3 is pierced by radial openings 7 and has means for more or less closing these radial openings 7.
[0013] In the presently described embodiment, the diameter of the second section 3b of the sleeve 3 is smaller than the diameter of the first section 3a of the sleeve: As a result, a step 8 is formed which forms a stop for fixing the faucet 2.
[0014] The first and second fixing means 5, 6 consist of threads whose thread pitch and length are adapted to those of the water supply line and the tap 2.
[0015] The radial openings 7 are arranged on a circle near the bottom of the blind hole 4 which the first portion 3a of the sleeve 3 encompasses.
[0016] According to the present invention, the means for more or less closing the radial openings 7 comprise, on the one hand, an adjusting sleeve 9 with an internal thread, arranged externally on the first portion 3a, and, on the other hand, a thread 10 corresponding to this adjusting sleeve and arranged on the first portion 3a of the sleeve 3 between the first fixing means 5 and the radial openings 7. A first sealing ring 11 is arranged between the sleeve 3 and the adjusting sleeve 9.
[0017] In a preferred embodiment, the faucet 2 comprises a casing that partially covers the adjusting sleeve 9, with a decorative rosette 18 arranged around this casing 12 and designed to rest against a wall. This decorative rosette 18 interacts rotationally with the adjusting sleeve 9 through a system of grooves 19. As a result, by rotating this decorative rosette 18, the flow rate can be adjusted or even a fluid outlet can be closed without the need for a tool.
[0018] When a faucet 2 is attached to the free end of the second section 3b of the sleeve 3, a sleeve 12, which is part of the body 13 of the faucet 2, partially or completely covers the adjusting sleeve 9; a second sealing ring 14 is arranged between the adjusting sleeve 9 and the sleeve 12. Between the step 8 of the sleeve 3 and the interior of the body 13 of the faucet 2, a conically chamfered washer 15 is arranged, which receives a third sealing ring 16 on its downstream concave side, which is arranged captively relative to the step 8. When the adjusting sleeve 9 is screwed in as far as it will go, its front side comes into contact with the third sealing ring 16, thereby completely closing the radial openings 7 and preventing any outflow of fluid (in the present embodiment, water).
[0019] The radial openings 7 allow fluid to flow from the blind hole 4 to the faucet 2 via a space 17 located between the sleeve 12 and the second portion 3b of the sleeve 3. If the fluid flow is to be stopped, it is sufficient to rotate the adjusting sleeve 9, for example with the aid of the decorative rosette 18, if provided, above the sleeve 3 so that the adjusting sleeve 9 completely closes the radial openings 7. The adjustment of the fluid flow through the faucet 2 is thus ensured by the radial openings 7 being more or less closed by the adjusting sleeve 9.
[0020] As will be apparent to those skilled in the art, a stopcock according to the present invention may be arranged on a water duct network downstream of a faucet as described in the present embodiment or downstream of any other device for dispensing water or gas.
