Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a sealing tape, in particular a joint sealing tape, and a sealing arrangement.
[0002] Various sealing elements and methods are known for sealing a joint between a window, door, or similar structure and the adjacent building element or masonry. For example, it is known to inject a sealing foam into the joint. The hardened foam is then sealed on the inside of the window, i.e., the room-facing side, for example with an acrylate paste. In addition, there are so-called multifunctional sealing tapes, which are applied in a compressed state, usually to the window or door frame, and expand after the window or door is installed, thus sealing the joint. These multifunctional sealing tapes can achieve airtightness and vapor tightness through suitable impregnation. Multifunctional tapes are also known that, through suitable measures such as incorporated additives, are more airtight on one side than on the opposite side.
[0003] However, the known sealing methods and devices have disadvantages, particularly when installing a frame in an existing window or door opening, i.e., during renovations. With regard to known joint sealing tapes or multifunctional tapes, the problem arises that leaks occur due to irregular masonry, which is frequently encountered during renovations. Furthermore, installation is very time-consuming. If the joint is filled with expanding foam, the foam oozes out, resulting in subsequent cleaning work.
[0004] DE 103 33 823 A1 relates to a foil membrane for the construction sector, which is partially diffusion-open and partially diffusion-blocking, wherein the foil membrane, viewed from an axis running in the longitudinal direction of the membrane, has a diffusion-open foil area on one side of the axis and a diffusion-blocking foil area on the other side of the axis and whose front side includes a plasterable layer in the edge area of the foil membrane.
[0005] DE 10 2008 025 019 A1 relates to a window frame used to form a window, wherein a sealing strip made of an elastic foam, optionally impregnated for delayed recovery, is arranged on the outside of the window frame.
[0006] DE 298 07 620 U1 refers to a band-like connecting element between a frame component, for example a window frame, and a masonry wall, with an adhesive bond to the frame component, and an adjoining flexible, flag-like strip element.
[0007] DE 10 2005 002 177 A1 relates to a sealing arrangement as it is produced at a transition between a window or door frame installed in a reveal of a building wall and the building wall, a profile strip for such a sealing arrangement and a method for producing a suitable seal for this purpose.
[0008] DE 41 23 647 A1 relates to a sealing tape made of open-pored foam with delayed recovery due to impregnation, which is preferably provided on one longitudinal side with a self-adhesive strip that is covered by a removable cover strip made of plastic film material.
[0009] Against this background, the invention is based on the objective of providing a sealing element or sealing tape and specifying a sealing arrangement which enables a particularly good sealing of a joint with the least possible effort.
[0010] The object of the invention is achieved by a sealing tape having the features of claim 1 and a sealing arrangement having the features of claim 5. Preferred embodiments of the invention are specified in the dependent claims and further described in the following description, particularly in connection with the figures.
[0011] The sealing tape according to the invention, which can also be referred to as a joint sealing tape, comprises a foam body and a sealing film. Advantageously, the sealing tape is a building-sealing sealing tape that, in particular, meets the fire protection standard EN 13501 Class E. The sealing film has a first section that is connected to the foam body and a second section that can be arranged projecting away from the foam body. The sealing arrangement according to the invention comprises a first building element (for example, a window or door frame), a second building element (for example, a building structure with a window or door opening), and a sealing tape according to the invention, which is arranged in a joint between the first building element and the second building element. The sealing arrangement can also be described as a building structure, in particular as a thermally insulated and / or sealed building structure.
[0012] A primary concept of the invention is to provide a strip-shaped, prefabricated sealing element that comprises a continuous foam body, particularly for thermal insulation, and a sealing film for sealing, especially against air and / or vapor. Thus, the entire sealing system (foam and sealing material or sealing film) can be assembled in a single step, eliminating the need for subsequent, separate sealing, for example, with an acrylic paste. The foam body and the sealing film are bonded together to form a single unit, creating an integral sealing element. This advantageously provides a sealing element with a driving rain resistance of at least 500 Pascals, preferably at least 600 Pascals, while also offering positive thermal insulation and soundproofing properties.According to the invention, a sealing tape is provided which includes a sealing film as an integral (i.e., not separate) component. The sealing film is, in particular, a PE film. Preferably, the sealing film can also be made of polypropylene, polyamide, polyurethane, polyester, or aluminum, or as a multilayer film made of the aforementioned materials. The sealing film can also be made of polyester fleece or polypropylene fleece. The foam core is preferably a polyolefin foam (in particular PP, PE) or a PUR foam.
[0013] The sealing tape according to the invention is intended in particular for sealing a joint between a building structure (wall, building wall, masonry wall) and a profile (in particular a window or door profile). It preferably has, in a generally known manner, two opposing contact surfaces for contacting the building structure or the profile, which are also referred to as broad surfaces. A third surface of the sealing tape faces an interior space (an area bounded by the building structure or profile), while a fourth surface faces an exterior space (an environment, an outside). The surface of the sealing tape facing the interior space is hereinafter referred to in particular as the inside, while the opposite surface facing the environment is referred to as the outside. These two surfaces preferably form the narrow surfaces of the sealing tape. The sealing membrane serves primarily to seal the joint on the side facing the interior. The width of the sealing tape is defined as the extent of the sealing tape, including the sealing membrane, in a stretched state in the direction between the interior and exterior. The width of the foam core is the distance between the opposing surfaces of the foam core facing the interior and exterior, respectively. The foam core has a width of, for example, 30 to 80 mm. The sealing tape preferably has a width of 50 to 120 mm. The ratio of the width of the sealing tape to the width of the foam core is preferably 1.1 to 2, more preferably 1.2 to 2, and most preferably 1.2 to 1.5.
[0014] A second fundamental aspect of the invention consists of the flexible second section of the sealing membrane, which projects from the foam body or can be arranged to project from it. This second section of the sealing membrane, which is thus at least largely freely movable, is intended to seal the joint towards the interior. For this purpose, the second section of the sealing membrane is attached to the adjacent component (profile body or building element), preferably after the foam has filled the joint, so that the side of the foam body facing the interior is covered. The second section of the sealing membrane is thus intended to cover the interior-facing side of the foam body after the sealing tape has been inserted into the designated joint, thereby sealing the joint inwards. The second section of the sealing membrane can, in particular, be arranged to project (project) from the foam body in the plane of the first section.Furthermore, the second section can be bent or angled away from the first section.
[0015] The second section, while forming an integral part of the sealing tape, is not (at least not firmly, and especially not over a surface) connected to the foam body in its initial state before installation. Nevertheless, it is attached to the foam body by forming part of the overall sealing membrane, the first section of which is connected to the foam body, particularly over a surface. The second section of the sealing membrane extends away from the foam body and, in particular, projects beyond it in a flag-like manner. It is therefore movable relative to the foam body and can be positioned at least to a large extent freely. Preferably, the width of the second section of the sealing membrane is at least 15 mm, more preferably at least 20 mm, and particularly preferably at least 25 mm. The second section of the sealing membrane can, in particular, have a width of 15–80 mm, preferably 15–40 mm, and more particularly 15–30 mm.
[0016] The first section of the sealing film preferably extends at least partially along an outer surface of the foam body. It is therefore preferably attached to the outer surface, in particular one of the contact sides of the foam body, or connected to an outer surface of the foam body.
[0017] It is preferred that the foam body is provided or arranged for attachment, in particular gluing, to a profile body. The foam body of the sealing tape is preferably attached to the profile body in a compressed state and then expands into the joint after a certain time, filling it completely. The side of the sealing tape facing the building structure or the reveal of a window or door opening is protected from contamination by the sealing film.
[0018] To attach the sealing tape to the profile body, the foam core is preferably provided with a first adhesive layer. This first adhesive layer is located, in particular, on an outer surface of the foam core that faces the sealing membrane. The sealing tape, with its foam core facing the profile body and its sealing membrane facing away from the profile body (and towards the building structure), can be attached to the profile body by means of this first adhesive layer. The sealing membrane is thus located between the building structure and the foam core. The adhesive layer can be applied over the entire surface or partially along the entire surface of the foam core. Preferably, the first adhesive layer is based on acrylate or butyl rubber.
[0019] Regarding the sealing arrangement according to the invention, it is preferred that the second component is a building element with an opening, that the first component is a profile body inserted into the opening of the building element, and that the first section of the sealing film faces the building element (masonry, window or door opening). Preferably, the sealing film, in particular its first section, covers the side of the foam body facing the building element, especially completely (over the entire surface). In this way, the sealing film protects the usually sticky foam body from contamination when a window or door is installed in the intended reveal. The sticky, for example black, gray, or anthracite-colored foam body is thus covered by the sealing film. The window profile can therefore be inserted into a window opening with the sealing strip attached to the outside largely without contamination. The sealing tape with the compressed foam core slides over the inner window reveal. The sealing membrane facing the building structure can also act as a barrier against rising damp.
[0020] A particularly reliable seal can be achieved by attaching the sealing membrane, especially the second section, to the profile body (door or window frame). The profile body, with its typically smooth surface, is particularly well-suited for a reliable seal and attachment. For aesthetic reasons, and potentially to further improve the seal, the second section of the sealing membrane and the inside of the profile body can be covered with a cover strip.
[0021] To attach the sealing membrane, particularly the second section of the sealing membrane, to the adjacent component, especially the profile body, it is preferred that the sealing membrane, particularly the second section of the sealing membrane, be provided with a second adhesive layer. It is advantageous that the second adhesive layer is arranged on the same side of the sealing membrane as the foam body, i.e., the side facing the foam body. For attaching the sealing membrane to the component, the adhesive layer is located, in particular, in a distal region of the second section.
[0022] The second adhesive layer extends along the first and second sections of the sealing membrane. This allows the second adhesive layer to be used both to bond the foam core and to bond the second section to the profile. Preferably, the second adhesive layer extends substantially along the entire surface of the sealing membrane (on the side of the foam core). This ensures a particularly reliable seal, as the second section can be attached to both the interior-facing side of the foam core and the adjacent profile element. The adhesive layer can also be a self-adhesive film.
[0023] The first and / or second adhesive layer is designed for adhesion to a profile body, particularly one made of wood or plastic. The first adhesive layer allows the sealing tape to be bonded to the profile body. After the foam core has expanded, the second adhesive layer then allows the sealing membrane, with its first section running along the profile body, to be attached to the inside of the profile body to seal the joint from the inside.
[0024] For a reliable seal, it is preferred that the second section of the sealing film seals the foam body against the interior. This means that the sealing film covers the foam body in such a way that the foam body is not exposed to the interior. For this purpose, the sealing film is preferably guided along the inside of the foam body and attached to the adjacent component opposite the first section of the sealing film.
[0025] To create an airtight seal of the joint gap, it is preferred that the second section of the sealing membrane runs along the foam core in the interior area and is attached to the profile body. After the window or door is positioned in the reveal, the foam core begins to expand and fill the joint gap. Following expansion, the second section of the sealing membrane is then attached to the profile body, i.e., the window or door, thus forming an airtight sealing system.
[0026] In a further preferred embodiment, the sealing tape is compressible and expandable in a direction transverse to the extent of the first section of the sealing film. The expandability of the foam body allows the sealing tape to be inserted in its compressed state and the joint to be filled by the expansion of the foam body. The first section of the sealing film extends along a broad side of the sealing tape in a plane transverse to the expansion direction. The foam body thus expands away from the first section. Preferably, the degree of compression is between 10% and 70%, more preferably between 20% and 60%, and particularly a maximum of 50%. The compression or expansion occurs in the direction of the thickness of the foam body. The foam body preferably has a thickness (height) of 5 to 100 mm, particularly 10 to 60 mm, in a relaxed, i.e., decompressed, state. The thickness direction is understood to be, in particular, a direction transverse to the width, namely the direction perpendicular to the contact surfaces of the sealing tape. The thickness of the sealing tape is, in particular, the extent between the opposing contact surfaces. Preferably, the thickness of the foam body in its relaxed state (without external force) is 10 to 300 times, more preferably 20 to 200 times, and especially 50 to 150 times, the thickness of the sealing membrane.
[0027] In a particularly preferred embodiment, the second section of the sealing film has a width that corresponds to at least one thickness of the foam body in its expanded state. This allows the second section of the sealing film to cover and thus seal the entire thickness of the foam body in its expanded state.
[0028] In a further preferred embodiment, the second section of the sealing membrane has a width greater than the maximum thickness of a joint that can be sealed with the sealing element. The maximum sealable joint thickness is defined by the foam body and its expansion capacity and corresponds, in particular, to the maximum thickness of the foam body (thickness of the foam body without force being applied). If the section of the sealing membrane extending beyond the foam body is wider than the thickness of the joint, it can extend over the adjacent masonry or the profile body and be attached to it. The width of the second section of the sealing membrane is therefore preferably greater than the maximum thickness of the foam body. Preferably, the ratio of the width of the second section of the sealing membrane to the maximum thickness of the foam body is 1.1 to 4, particularly 1.2 to 3, and more preferably 1.3 to 3.This method achieves a particularly good seal.
[0029] According to the invention, it is further preferred that the sealing tape is wound or can be wound into a roll in a compressed state. The second section of the sealing film preferably protrudes from one end face of the roll body formed by the rolled-up foam core.
[0030] In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the first section of the sealing membrane is attached to the building structure, in particular by a force-fit connection, preferably by bonding to the building structure. For this purpose, an adhesive is preferably applied to the building structure, which, after the expansion of the foam core, bonds the sealing membrane, pressed against the building structure, to the building structure. Applying the adhesive to the building structure (in conjunction with a sealing membrane that is preferably non-adhesive towards the building structure) reliably prevents contamination of the sealing membrane during installation and thus ensures a particularly reliable seal. It is also conceivable that the sealing tape is applied to the building structure in its compressed state and, after expansion, bonded to the profile body.
[0031] The invention is further described below with reference to preferred embodiments, which are illustrated in the accompanying schematic figures.
[0032] It shows: Fig. 1: the arrangement of a sealing tape according to the invention in a joint between a window profile and a masonry wall, Fig. 2: the sealing tape according to Fig. 1 in a compressed state and Fig. 3: a further arrangement of a sealing tape according to the invention in a joint between a window profile and a masonry wall.
[0033] Identical or equivalent elements are marked with the same reference symbols in all figures.
[0034] Fig. Figure 1 shows a sealing tape 10 (joint sealing tape) according to the invention in an installed state. The sealing tape 10 is provided here for sealing a joint between a profile body 80 (frame profile) and a building body 90 (building structure).
[0035] The sealing tape 10 has a rectangular cross-section. However, other cross-sectional shapes are also possible. The sealing tape 10 extends along a profile or longitudinal direction (direction along the window or door profile), which runs perpendicular to the plane of the drawing. In its packaging, the sealing tape 10 is rolled up lengthwise.
[0036] The cross-section of the sealing strip 10 is defined by an outer surface 12 facing an outer surface 2, an inner surface 14 facing an inner surface 4, a first contact side 16 for contact with the profile body 80, and a second contact side 18 for contact with the building structure 90. The outer surface 12 and the inner surface 14 can also be referred to as narrow sides. The contact sides 16 and 18 can also be referred to as wide sides.
[0037] The sealing tape 10 comprises a foam core 30, which is preferably impregnated to achieve delayed recovery. After pressure release, the compressed sealing tape 10 only returns to its original size over a certain period of time to seal the joint, allowing the compressed sealing tape 10 to be positioned in the joint, thus simplifying installation. The sealing tape 10 is supplied in a compressed state, for example, as a roll. After unrolling and cutting to length, the delayed recovery provides sufficient time to position the sealing tape 10 in the joint, for example, pre-mounted on the profile body or frame profile 80. The sealing tape 10 can be compressed to a thickness of less than 60% in its unrolled state, for example, 50–60%. Upon release of pressure in the joint, the sealing tape 10 is then decompressed, increasing in volume.
[0038] The total width of the sealing tape 10 is designated by reference numeral 13. The width of the foam body 30 is designated by reference numeral 31. The thickness of the sealing tape 10 is designated by reference numeral 17.
[0039] The foam body 30 is preferably a flexible polyurethane foam with a uniform or non-uniform impregnation, for example, a polyacrylate impregnation. This impregnation makes the foam permanently elastic and resistant, particularly to aging, rot, chemicals, heat, cold, and / or moisture. The foam body 30 has a first narrow side 32, a second narrow side 34, a first wide side 36, and a second wide side 38. The first narrow side 32 faces the exterior 2, and the second narrow side 34 faces the interior 4. The first wide side 36 faces the frame profile 80, and the second wide side 38 faces the building structure 90.
[0040] On the broad side 38 facing the building structure 90, a sealing membrane 40 is connected to the foam body 30. The sealing membrane 40 is a thin, sheet-like element that provides, in particular, air and / or vapor tightness. Specifically, the sealing membrane 40 is designed to have an Sd value of at least 10 m, preferably at least 20 m. The sealing membrane acts as a vapor barrier or can be classified as a vapor barrier (according to DIN 4103).
[0041] The sealing membrane 40 has a first section 42 that extends along the second broad side 38 and is connected to the foam body 30 by means of a second adhesive layer 52. Furthermore, the sealing membrane 40 comprises a second section 44, which in a state prior to assembly ( Fig. 2) protrudes or extends freely from the foam body 30. The second section 44 is therefore not directly connected to the foam body 30, but only via the first section 42. The first section 42 and the second section 44 form an integral sealing film 40.
[0042] When the sealing tape 10 is installed, the second section 44 of the sealing membrane 40 projects into the interior space 4 (interior) or is located on the side of the sealing tape 10 facing the interior space 4 or interior. To create an interior seal, the second section 44 of the sealing membrane 40 is attached to an interior area or surface of the profile body 80. In this way, the sealing membrane 40, and in particular the second section 44, seals the narrow side 34 facing the interior. The first section 42 of the sealing membrane 40 is therefore located on the side of the foam body 30 facing the building structure 90, while the second section 44 is attached to the opposite element, i.e., the profile body 80 (window or door).
[0043] The profile body 80, for example a window or door frame, comprises, in the illustrated embodiment, several recesses 82 that form air chambers. As the foam body 30 expands, it partially extends into the recesses 82 facing the joint or open towards the joint.
[0044] To attach the sealing tape 10 to the profile body 80, particularly initially in a compressed state, the foam body 30 is provided with a first adhesive layer 50. This layer is located on the side of the foam body 30 that faces the first section 42 of the sealing membrane 40. The first adhesive layer 50 can extend over the entire surface of the foam body 30.
[0045] To attach the second section 44 of the sealing membrane 40 to the profile body 80, the second section 44 is provided with a second adhesive layer 52. This second adhesive layer 52 is located on the same side of the sealing membrane 40 as the foam body 30. The second adhesive layer 52 extends along the entire length of the second section 44 as well as along the first section 42, between the sealing membrane 40 and the foam body 30. Thus, the second section 44 of the sealing membrane 40 can be attached, in particular bonded, to an inner surface (facing the interior) of the profile body 80. Furthermore, the second adhesive layer 52 forms a bonding agent layer between the first section 42 of the sealing membrane 40 and the foam body 30. The second section 44 of the sealing membrane 40 is covered by a cover strip 84. An insulating layer 86 is also shown on the outer surface 2.
[0046] The sealing tape 10 according to the invention enables a particularly simple and reliable sealing of a joint. The entire sealing system (thermal insulation by foam, sealing by foil) can be applied to (attached to) the profile body 80 in a single operation. After inserting the profile body 80 (window, door), the inside of the foam body 30 is sealed by means of the flexible second section 44 of the sealing foil 40. For this purpose, the second section 44 of the sealing foil 40 is connected to the profile body 80 and / or to the exposed side of the foam body 30, in particular by bonding. The first section 42 of the sealing foil 40 rests against the building body 90.
[0047] Fig. Figure 2 shows the sealing tape according to the invention made of Fig. 1 in a compressed, unassembled state. The in Fig. 2 The sealing tape 10 shown is preferably in a form wound onto a roll, the winding being in the longitudinal direction of the sealing tape 10, i.e. transverse to the plane of the drawing.
[0048] Fig. Figure 3 shows a further embodiment of a sealing arrangement according to the invention. For improved sealing against the building body 90, an adhesive 54 is applied to the building body 90, for example as an adhesive strip. The adhesive 54, applied in a flowable state, forms an adhesive bond with the sealing film 40, which adheres to the building body 90 due to the expansion of the foam body 30.
[0049] Overall, the invention enables a quick and effective sealing of the connection area between window and masonry / window opening.
