Description

Background of the inventionField of the invention

[0001] The present invention relates to a device for connecting a resonator to a vehicle wheel. More particularly, it relates to a device for connecting a resonator to a vehicle wheel that robustly connects a resonator to a vehicle wheel for improving resonance noise. Description of the technology used

[0002] Since a size of a wheel has increased with the progress of a vehicle, it has recently become necessary to eliminate a resonance noise which is an accidental side effect.

[0003] To eliminate the resonance noise, a resonator wheel with a resonator mounted on a vehicle wheel was disclosed.

[0004] Fig. 7 is a view showing a conventional resonator wheel.

[0005] With reference to Fig. 7, in the conventional resonator wheel, an insertion groove 2 is formed in a wheel rim 1 to fix a resonator 3 to the wheel rim 1, and a fixing projection 4 is formed in the resonator 3 to correspond to the insertion groove 2.

[0006] However, in the conventional resonator wheel, when a strong impact is applied to the resonator 3 during driving, damage, particularly breakage, occurs in an insertion groove portion of the wheel rim 1.

[0007] For example, while the resonator wheel is running at high speed on a road having a pothole, a strong impact is applied to an inner side of the wheel rim 1, so that damage, particularly breakage, occurs in the fitting groove portion of the wheel rim 1.

[0008] The above information disclosed in this "Background of the Present Invention" section is provided merely to enhance the understanding of the general background of the invention and should not be considered as an admission or any suggestion that this information forms part of the prior art as already known to those skilled in the art.

[0009] Furthermore, EP 3 546 242 A1 discloses a device for connecting at least one resonator to a vehicle wheel, the device comprising: an annular first band which is mounted on an outer peripheral surface of the wheel rim in order to fix positions of the at least one resonator, which are arranged on the outer peripheral surface of the wheel rim, on the wheel rim, wherein first flanges which are formed in the axial direction of the wheel rim on first edge portions of the at least one resonator are introduced between the annular first band and the outer peripheral surface of the wheel rim, and second flanges which are formed in the axial direction of the wheel rim on second edge portions of the at least one resonator.

[0010] Further devices for connecting a resonator to a vehicle wheel are known from CN 1 00 475 569 C and US 9 278 586 B2. Explanation of the invention

[0011] The present invention is directed to providing a device for connecting a resonator to a vehicle wheel, which achieves robustness against an external force acting on a resonator during driving and at the same time ensures the simplicity / ease of mounting the tire.

[0012] The objects of the present invention are not limited to the objects described above, and other objects of the present invention not mentioned above can be understood from the following description and will also be clearly understood from embodiments of the present invention. Furthermore, the objects of the present invention can be achieved by means described in the appended claims and a combination thereof.

[0013] The present invention therefore provides a device for connecting at least one resonator to a vehicle wheel according to claim 1. Advantageous further developments are described in the dependent claims.

[0014] The second band can apply pressure to the second flange towards a radially inner side of the wheel rim.

[0015] According to various exemplary embodiments of the present invention, the wheel rim may include a first annular wall (e.g., first annular wall) configured to protrude from the outer peripheral surface of the wheel rim so as to extend in a circumferential direction of the wheel rim, a second annular wall (e.g., second annular wall) configured to protrude from the outer peripheral surface of the wheel rim so as to extend in the circumferential direction of the wheel rim and arranged to be spaced from the first annular wall, and a resonator mounting portion formed between the first annular wall and the second annular wall and in which the resonators are arranged on an outer surface of the resonator mounting portion in the circumferential direction thereof.

[0016] Furthermore, the first band may include a non-nose portion (e.g., a nose-free portion), which is a portion in which the noses are not formed, wherein a first space may be formed between the non-nose portion and the resonator mounting portion depending on a size of the plurality of noses, and wherein the first flange may be inserted into the first space. Here, a size (e.g., dimension) of the nose may be a size (e.g., dimension) in the radial direction of the wheel rim.

[0017] The first band may be assembled with the resonator mounting portion, and a bottom surface of the nose may come into contact with an outer surface of the resonator mounting portion.

[0018] Further, a separation preventing projection may be formed on an edge portion of the second flange so as to protrude outward toward a radially outer side of the wheel rim, and the separation preventing projection may prevent the second band from being detached or separated from the second flange in the axial direction of the wheel rim.

[0019] Further, each of the resonators may have a resonator main body formed between the first flange and the second flange, and when the second band is mounted on the second flange, the second band may be arranged in a second space formed between the separation preventing projection and the resonator main body.

[0026] Reference will now be made in detail to various embodiments of the present invention, examples of which are illustrated in the accompanying drawings and described below. While the invention will be described in connection with the exemplary embodiments, it is to be understood that the present description is not intended to limit the invention to these exemplary embodiments.

[0027] Below, various exemplary embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. The objects shown in the drawings are schematically illustrated to conveniently describe the exemplary embodiments of the present invention, and therefore, the objects may differ from the actual objects.

[0028] Fig. 1 is a perspective view illustrating an exemplary resonator wheel according to various exemplary embodiments of the present invention, Fig. 2A and Fig. 2B are cross-sectional views illustrating a connection structure of the resonator wheel according to various exemplary embodiments of the present invention, Fig. 3 is a perspective view illustrating, by way of example, a first band according to various exemplary embodiments of the present invention, Fig. 4 is a cross-sectional view illustrating an exemplary mounting structure between the first band and the resonator according to various exemplary embodiments of the present invention, and Fig. 5 is a partial view illustrating an engagement structure of a second band according to various exemplary embodiments of the present invention.

[0029] As in Fig. 1, a resonator wheel according to various exemplary embodiments of the present invention is a wheel in which a plurality of resonators 30 are mounted on an outer peripheral surface of a wheel 100.

[0030] The wheel 100 includes a wheel rim (e.g., a wheel rim rim) 110 and a disk (e.g., a spoke portion) 120. The wheel rim 110 is an annular portion in which the resonator 30 is mounted, and a tire is mounted in the annular portion.

[0031] The resonators 30 are mounted and held on the wheel rim 110 by a first band (e.g., a first belt) 10 and a second band (e.g., a first belt) 20. Thus, unlike a conventional resonator wheel, the wheel 100 does not require a separate structure (a conventional insertion groove) for mounting the resonators 30, and thus an ordinary vehicle wheel can be applied.

[0032] Referring to Fig. 1 and Fig. 2A, the wheel rim 110 includes a resonator mounting portion 113 in which the resonators 30 are mounted and arranged, and a first annular wall (e.g., first annular wall) 111 and a second annular wall (e.g., second annular wall) 112 integrally formed (e.g., as a unit or integrally, in particular, materially integral) in both end portions of the resonator mounting portion 113. In the present case, the two end portions of the resonator mounting portion 113 are based on an axial direction of the wheel rim 110.

[0033] Further, the resonator mounting portion 113 may be formed to be flat so that a bottom surface of the resonator 30 can be accommodated thereon.

[0034] The first annular wall 111 is formed to protrude from an outer peripheral surface of the wheel rim 110 and is formed to extend in a circumferential direction of the wheel rim 110. The first annular wall 111 is formed to protrude outward from the wheel rim 110 farther than the resonator mounting portion 113 based on a radial direction of the wheel rim 110.

[0035] The second annular wall 112 is formed to protrude from the outer peripheral surface of the wheel rim 110 and is formed to extend in the circumferential direction of the wheel rim 110. The second annular wall 112 is spaced from the first annular wall 111. The second annular wall 112 may be spaced from the first annular wall 111 by as much as one width of the resonator mounting portion 113.

[0036] Based on the radial direction of the wheel rim 110, the first annular wall 111 may be integrally formed at one end portion of the resonator mounting portion 113, and the second annular wall 112 may be integrally formed at the other end portion thereof.

[0037] That is, the resonator mounting portion 113 may be formed integrally with the first annular wall 111 and the second annular wall 112 so as to be disposed between the first annular wall 111 and the second annular wall 112.

[0038] The plurality of resonators 30 are mounted and arranged on the outer peripheral surface of the wheel rim 110. In other words, each of the plurality of resonators 30 is mounted and arranged in the resonator mounting portion 113 of the wheel rim 110 in the circumferential direction of the wheel rim 110.

[0039] A first resonator 30a, a second resonator 30b, a third resonator 30c and a fourth resonator 30d may be mounted in the resonator mounting portion 113.

[0040] Fig. 2A and Fig. 2B show a structure of the first resonator 30a and a manner in which the first resonator 30a is mounted in the resonator mounting portion 113 of the wheel rim 110.

[0041] A structure and an assembled shape of the first resonator 30a will be described here mainly with reference to Fig. 2A and Fig. 2B. However, the second resonator 30b, the third resonator 30c and the fourth resonator 30d can be formed in the same manner as the Fig. 2A and Fig. 2B and also mounted in the resonator mounting portion 113 in the same manner as the first resonator 30a.

[0042] However, the first resonator 30a, the second resonator 30b, the third resonator 30c, and the fourth resonator 30d are mounted at different positions of the resonator mounting portion 113 so that they are arranged in the circumferential direction of the wheel rim 110. The first resonator 30a, the second resonator 30b, the third resonator 30c, and the fourth resonator 30d can be configured to have different resonance frequencies, making it possible to reduce noise of the wheel 100 over a wider frequency range.

[0043] Referring to Fig. 2A and Fig. 2B, the first resonator 30a includes a resonator main body 32 in which a resonance chamber is formed, and a first flange 34 and a second flange 36 formed at both end portions of the resonator main body 32.

[0044] That is, the resonator main body 32 is formed integrally with an end portion of the first flange 34 and an end portion of the second flange 36 so as to be disposed between the first flange 34 and the second flange 36.

[0045] In the present case, the resonator main body 32 may be formed to be higher than the first flange 34 and the second flange 36 based on the radial direction of the wheel rim 110 so as to protrude further outward of the wheel rim 110.

[0046] The resonator main body 32 is configured to reduce noise generated by the wheel 100 using the principle of a Helmholtz resonator.

[0047] The first resonator 30a is mounted in the resonator mounting portion 113 using the first flange 34 and the second flange 36. In other words, the first resonator 30a is connected such that the first flange 34 and the second flange 36 are fixed to the resonator mounting portion 113.

[0048] Thus, the first resonator 30a is integrally formed with the first flange 34 and the second flange 36 in both side portions of the resonator main body 32 to be connected to the resonator mounting portion 113.

[0049] The first flange 34 is formed to protrude from an edge portion of the resonator main body 32 in the axial direction of the wheel rim 110 and is also formed to extend in the circumferential direction of the wheel rim 110.

[0050] That is, the first flange 34 is formed to extend from one edge portion of the resonator main body 32 in a ring shape in the circumferential direction of the wheel rim 110. Further, the first flange 34 is formed to be pressed against an outer surface of the resonator mounting portion 113.

[0051] Furthermore, a nose recess (e.g., nose groove, nose insertion space) 38 is formed to enable the first flange 34 to engage with the first band 10. The nose recess 38 may be formed to extend in the axial direction of the wheel rim 110.

[0052] The second flange 36 is formed to protrude from the other edge portion of the resonator main body 32 in the axial direction of the wheel rim 110 and is also formed to extend in the circumferential direction of the wheel rim 110.

[0053] That is, the second flange 36 is formed to extend from the other edge portion of the resonator main body 32 in an annular shape in the circumferential direction of the wheel rim 110. Further, the second flange 36 is formed to be pressed against the outer surface of the resonator mounting portion 113.

[0054] Further, a separation prevention projection 22 projecting radially outward from the wheel rim 110 may be formed on an edge portion of the second flange 36.

[0055] The separation preventing projection 22 may be formed to be higher than the second flange 36 based on the radial direction of the wheel rim 110 in order to prevent the second band 20 arranged and mounted on the second flange 36 from being detached from the second flange 36.

[0056] When the second flange 36 is disposed in the resonator mounting portion 113, the separation preventing projection 22 may be disposed so as to be adjacent to (e.g., adjacent to) the second annular wall 112 of the wheel rim 110.

[0057] Meanwhile, the first band 10 is provided to hold the resonators 30 arranged on the outer peripheral surface of the resonator mounting portion 113 and to fix mounting positions of the resonators 30, and is assembled with the resonator mounting portion 113 before the resonators 30 are assembled with the resonator mounting portion 113.

[0058] Referring to Fig. 3, the first band 10 is formed as an annular band (e.g., annular belt) which extends in a circumferential direction of the resonator mounting portion 113.

[0059] Referring to Fig. 4, the first band 10 is formed to have a plurality of lugs (e.g., ribs, beads, band projection portions, folded band portions) 12 for connection to the first flange 34, and the plurality of lugs 12 are spaced apart from one another in the circumferential direction of the first band 10.

[0060] The first belt 10 may be provided with four lugs 12 corresponding to the number of resonators 30 mounted on the wheel rim 110. The four lugs 12 may be arranged at regular intervals in the circumferential direction of the first belt 10.

[0061] Each of the tabs 12 may be a portion bent from one side of the first band 10 toward a radially inner side thereof and shaped to have a substantially U-shaped cross section.

[0062] A portion in which the tabs 12 are not formed may be present in the first band 10, and the portion may be referred to as a non-tab portion (e.g., tab-free portion) 14. Thus, the first band 10 may be divided into the non-tab portion 14 and the tab 12. That is, the first band 10 may have the non-tab portion 14 and the tab 12 integrally formed in an end portion of the non-tab portion 14.

[0063] When the first band 10 is assembled with the resonator mounting portion 113, based on the radial direction of the first band 10, a bottom surface of the nose 12 is in contact with the outer surface of the resonator mounting portion 113, and a predetermined space (a first space S1) is formed between the resonator mounting portion 113 and the non-nose portion 14. The first space S1 may be formed according to a size of the nose 12 in its radial direction.

[0064] Furthermore, the first flange 34 of each of the resonators 30 is inserted into the first space S1. Each of the resonators 30 is housed at the resonator mounting portion 113 in a state in which the first flange 34 is inserted into the first space S1.

[0065] For this purpose, the nose 12 is formed to have a predetermined size and to be bent from the end portion of the non-nose portion 14 to a predetermined length.

[0066] When the first flange 34 of the resonator 30 is inserted into the first space S1, the nose 12 of the first band 10 is inserted into the nose recess 38 of the first flange 34.

[0067] In other words, the first flange 34 is inserted into the first space S1 between the non-nose portion 14 of the first band 10 and the resonator mounting portion 113 so that the nose 12 of the first band 10 is inserted into the nose recess 38.

[0068] In the present case, the first band 10 surrounds an outer surface of the first flange 34, which is inserted into the first space S1.

[0069] In a state in which the first flange 34 of the resonator 30 is held on the first band 10, the second band 20 is mounted on the second flange 36 of the resonator 30.

[0070] In order to simultaneously hold the second flanges 36 of the resonators 30 arranged in the resonator mounting portion 113, the second band 20 is formed in an annular shape extending in the circumferential direction of the resonator mounting portion 113.

[0071] The second band 20 is configured to surround outer surfaces of the second flanges 36 in the circumferential direction of the resonator mounting portion 113, pressing the second flanges 36 toward the resonator mounting portion 113.

[0072] In other words, the second band 20 surrounds outer peripheral surfaces of the second flanges 36 to pressurize the second flanges 36 toward a radially inner side of the resonator mounting portion 113. Consequently, the resonators 30 are connected and fixed to the resonator mounting portion 113.

[0073] When the second band 20 is attached to the second flange 36, the second band 20 is located in a space between the separation prevention projection 22 of the second flange 36 and the resonator main body 32 (ie, in a second space S2). Thus, it is also possible to prevent the second band 20 from being detached from the second flange 36 in the axial direction of the wheel rim 110.

[0074] The separation preventing projection 22 may be formed to protrude from the outer surface of the second flange 36 toward a radially outer side.

[0075] Since the second band 20 presses the second flange 36 toward a radially inner side of the wheel rim 110, a normal force that the outer peripheral surface of the wheel rim 110 (ie, the resonator mounting portion 113) exerts on the second flange 36 of the resonator 30 is also increased.

[0076] Thus, a larger frictional force is generated between the resonator 30 and the wheel rim 110, so that by means of the second band 20, it is possible to prevent the resonator 30 from moving or slipping in the circumferential direction or the axial direction on the surface of the resonator mounting portion 113.

[0077] In order to adjust a compressive force acting on the second flange 36 due to the second band 20, a side portion of the second band 20 may be configured as a detachable and engageable structure (e.g., as a clamping ring with a hooking and unhooking structure).

[0078] Referring to Fig. 5, a plurality of hooks 24 may be formed in one end portion of the second band 20 in the circumferential direction thereof, and a plurality of catch holes (e.g., hooking holes) 26 configured to hold / hook and fix the hooks 24 thereto may be formed in the other end portion of the second band 20 in the circumferential direction thereof.

[0079] Further, when the second band 20 presses the second flange 36 toward the radially inner side of the wheel rim 110, a tensile stress is exerted on the second band 20, and when the pressing force of the second band 20 is increased, greater tensile stress is exerted on the second band 20.

[0080] Therefore, the second band 20 can be designed to withstand a high tensile stress, and for this purpose, the second band 20 is formed from a metal material with sufficient rigidity, such as stainless steel.

[0081] Here, a process for attaching the resonators 30 to the wheel rim 110 will be described with reference to the Fig. 6A to 6E. In the order of Fig. 6A to 6E, the resonators 30 can be attached to the resonator mounting portion 113 of the wheel rim 110.

[0082] First, as in Fig. As shown in Figure 6A, the first band 10 is mounted (e.g., assembled) on the resonator mounting portion 113 of the wheel rim 110. In this case, the first band 10 is located in the resonator mounting portion 113 so as to be adjacent to the first annular wall 111, and the bottom surface of the nose 12 of the first band 10 is in contact with the outer surface of the resonator mounting portion 113.

[0083] That is, the first band 10 is arranged on the resonator mounting portion 113 so that the bottom surface of the nose 12 is in contact with the outer surface of the resonator mounting portion 113.

[0084] Next, as in the Fig. 6B and Fig. 6C, the first flange 34 of the first resonator 30a is inserted into the first space S1 between the non-nose portion 14 of the first band 10 and the resonator mounting portion 113. When the first flange 34 is inserted into the first space S1, the nose 12 of the first band 10 is inserted into the nose recess 38 of the first flange 34.

[0085] That is, the first flange 34 is inserted into the first space S1 so that the nose 12 of the first band 10 is inserted into the nose recess 38 of the first flange 34.

[0086] The nose 12 is also designed as a guide by indicating a mounting position of the first resonator 30a, which is attached to the resonator mounting portion 113.

[0087] As described above, since the first flange 34 of the first resonator 30a is inserted into the first space S1, when the first resonator 30a is connected to the wheel rim 110 using the second band 20, it is possible to prevent the movement and detachment of the first resonator 30a.

[0088] The second resonator 30b, the third resonator 30c and the fourth resonator 30d are pre-assembled in the resonator mounting section 113 in the same mounting method as the first resonator 30a.

[0089] Next, as in the Fig. 6D and Fig. 6E, the second band 20 is attached to the second flange 36 of the first resonator 30a to connect the first resonator 30a to the resonator mounting portion 113.

[0090] The second band 20 is attached to the second flange 36 of the first resonator 30a to pressurize the second flange 36 toward the resonator mounting portion 113. In this case, the second band 20 pressurizes the second flange 36 toward the radially inner side of the wheel rim 110.

[0091] The second resonator 30b, the third resonator 30c and the fourth resonator 30d are mounted in the same mounting method as the first resonator 30a and connected to the resonator mounting portion 113.

[0092] As described above, the resonators 30 are pre-mounted on the resonator mounting portion 113 of the wheel rim 110 using the first band 10, and the positions of the resonators 30 are fixed, and then the resonators 30 are firmly connected to the resonator mounting portion 113 using a second band 20. Consequently, the resonators 30 can be robust against external forces (a centrifugal force and a front-to-rear force) acting on the resonators 30 during driving, ensuring durability and shock resistance, and also minimizing the occurrence of side effects.

[0093] Various aspects of the present invention provide the following effects through the problem-solving means described above.

[0094] Firstly, when a first band is used, it is possible to omit a conventional insertion groove formed on a wheel rim and intended to fix a resonator, and thus the resonator can be robust against an external force acting on the resonators during driving to ensure durability and impact resistance.

[0095] Secondly, it is possible to omit a notch portion for forming the conventional insertion groove from an outer peripheral surface of the rim, thereby reducing a weight of the wheel rim.

[0096] Thirdly, a special wheel for mounting a resonator, which has the conventional insertion groove, is not required, and an ordinary wheel can be used.

[0097] Fourthly, it is possible to ensure the simplicity / ease of tire assembly and mass production.

[0098] For ease of explanation and accurate definition in the appended claims, the terms "upper...", "under...", "inner...", "outer...", "high", "down", "upward", "downward", "front...", "backward...", "front", "backward", "inward / inward", "outward / outward", "inside", "outside", "inside", "outside", "forward / forward", and "backward / rearward" are used to describe features of the exemplary embodiments with reference to their positions as shown in the drawings. It is further understood that the term "connect" or its variations refer to both direct and indirect connection.
