[0014] Fig. 1 is a side view showing a saddle-type vehicle in which a radar unit according to an embodiment of the present invention is mounted. The saddle-type vehicle 1 is, for example, a motorcycle, and a radar unit 3 is provided at a front part of the saddle-type vehicle 1. The radar unit 3 includes, as described later, a radar device 200 and an adapter 100 that supports the radar device 200. The radar device 200 is arranged so that a transmitting and receiving surface 201, described later, faces forward in the traveling direction of the saddle-type vehicle 1. The adapter 100 is attached to an unillustrated attachment part of the saddle-type vehicle 1. The attachment part is a bracket or the like for attaching the adapter 100. The member to which the attachment part is attached is not particularly limited. In the present embodiment, the attachment part is attached to a saddle-type frame 2 of the vehicle 1. The attachment part can be attached directly to the frame 2 or indirectly via a damper or the like.
[0015] The saddle-type vehicle 1 may also have the radar unit 3 at a position other than the front of the saddle-type vehicle 1. The saddle-type vehicle 1 may have the radar unit 3, for example, at a rear of the saddle-type vehicle 1. The radar device 200 provided at the rear of the saddle-type vehicle 1 is arranged such that the transmitting and receiving surface 201 explained below is directed rearward in the traveling direction of the saddle-type vehicle 1. <Aufbauten des Adapters und der Radareinheit>
[0016] Fig. Figure 2 is a perspective view showing the radar unit according to the embodiment of the present invention. That is: Fig. 2 is a perspective view showing a state in which the radar device is held by the adapter according to the embodiment of the present invention. Fig. 3 is an exploded perspective view of the adapter according to the embodiment of the present invention. Fig. 4 is a perspective view showing the radar device according to the embodiment of the present invention.
[0017] The adapter 100 according to the present embodiment, together with the radar device 200, forms the radar unit 3 that is installed in the saddle-type vehicle 1. In other words, the adapter 100 supports the radar device 200 that is installed in the saddle-type vehicle 1.
[0018] In the following, each part of the substantially cuboid-shaped radar device 200 is defined as follows in the explanation of the adapter 100. A transmitting and receiving surface 201 is a front surface, and the surface opposite to the transmitting and receiving surface 201 is a rear surface 202. Of the side surface parts connecting the transmitting and receiving surface 201 to the rear surface 202, a side surface part, which is a lower surface part in the present embodiment, is a lower surface part 203. Of the side surface parts connecting the transmitting and receiving surface 201 to the rear surface 202, a side surface part opposite to the lower surface part 203 is an upper surface part 204. Of the side surface parts connecting the transmitting and receiving surface 201 to the rear surface 202, a side surface part, which is a left side surface part in the present embodiment, is a left side surface part 205.Of the side surface parts connecting the transmitting and receiving surface 201 to the rear surface 202, the left side surface part 205 can be referred to as one of the side surface parts connecting the lower surface part 203 to the upper surface part 204. Of the side surface parts connecting the transmitting and receiving surface 201 to the rear surface 202, the side surface part opposite the left side surface part 205 is a right side surface part 206.
[0019] In the present embodiment, the lower surface part 203 corresponds to the first side surface part of the present invention, and the upper surface part 204 corresponds to the second side surface part of the present invention.
[0020] The adapter 100 has a first component 10 and a second component 20.
[0021] The first component 10 includes a base portion 11 and a wall portion 12 projecting forward from the base portion 11. The base portion 11 is disposed so as to oppose the rear surface 202 of the radar device 200. In the present embodiment, the wall portion 12 corresponds to the first wall portion of the present invention. The wall portion 12 opposes the lower surface portion 203 of the radar device 200. Moreover, the wall portion 12 contacts the lower surface portion 203 of the radar device 200 and supports the lower surface portion 203. In the present embodiment, a connector 207 used in wiring with a control device (not shown) is provided on the lower surface portion 203 of the radar device 200 held by the adapter 100. A release portion 16 is formed on the wall portion 12 so that the wall portion 12 does not interfere with the connector 207. The release part 16 is a through-hole or a recess. That is,: When the radar device 200 is held by the adapter 100, the plug 207 is inserted into the release part 16.
[0022] The first component 10 according to the present embodiment includes a wall portion 13 and a wall portion 14 projecting forward from the base portion 11. The wall portion 13 is positioned opposite the left side surface portion 205 of the radar device 200. The wall portion 14 is positioned opposite the right side surface portion 206 of the radar device 200. That is, in the present embodiment, the wall portion 13 is positioned opposite the wall portion 14 in the transverse direction. The adapter 100, as described below, clamps the radar device 200 vertically by the first component 10 and the second component 20, and holds the radar device 200. At this time, the adapter 100 can hold the radar device 200 with a holding force sufficient to restrict the movement of the radar device 200 in the transverse direction. However, by providing the wall part 13 and the wall part 14, the movement of the radar device 200 in the transverse direction can be further restricted and the falling out of the radar device 200 from the adapter 100 can be further suppressed.
[0023] The second component 20 has a base part 21 and a wall part 22 projecting forward from the base part 21. The base part 21 is arranged to face the first component 10. In the present embodiment, the base part 21 does not face the rear side of the radar device 200. However, the base part 21 may also be arranged so that the base part 21 extends downward and a part of the base part 21 faces the rear side of the radar device 200. In the present embodiment, the wall part 22 corresponds to the second wall part of the present invention. The wall part 22 faces the upper surface part 204 of the radar device 200. The wall part 22 comes into direct or indirect contact with the upper surface part 204 of the radar device 200 and supports the upper surface part 204.
[0024] The adapter 100 has a fastening part 30. The first component 10 is fastened to the second component 20 by the fastening part 30. The fastening part 30 of the present embodiment uses a screw-on structure. Specifically, the fastening part 30 consists of an internally threaded part 31 provided on the first component 10, a portion of the second component 20 in which a through hole 32 is formed, and a screw 33. For example, in the base part 11 of the first component 10, the internally threaded part 31 is arranged at a position where it is opposite to the second component 20. For example, in the base part 21 of the second component 20, the through hole 32 is arranged at a position where it is opposite to the internally threaded part 31.The second component 20 is fastened to the first component 10 by inserting the screw 33 into the through-hole 32 of the second component 20 and screwing the screw 33 into the internal threaded portion 31 of the first component 10. When the second component 20 is fastened to the first component 10, the radar device 200 is clamped by the wall portion 12 of the first component 10 and the wall portion 22 of the second component 20. Consequently, the fastening force of the fastening portion 30 acting in the vertical direction is a holding force by which the radar device 200 is held by the adapter 100.
[0025] The adapter 100 according to the present embodiment provides two fastening parts 30. However, the number of fastening parts 30 is not particularly limited. The fastening part 30 is not limited to the one using the screw-on structure. The fastening part using the snap-fit structure as a structure for fastening two components is conventionally known. The fastening part 30 may be, for example, the one using the snap-fit structure.
[0026] A plurality of radar devices 200, in which the positions of the connector 207 are different, can also be held by an adapter 100 that is identical to the adapter 100 according to the present embodiment. In detail, this means that in the adapter 100, release parts 16 are formed on the wall part 12 and additionally on the wall part 13 and the wall part 14. The adapter 100 can therefore hold the radar device 200, on the left side surface part 205 of which the connector 207 is provided, by inserting the connector 207 into the release part 16 of the wall part 13. Furthermore, the adapter 100 can hold the radar device 200, on the right side surface part 206 of which the connector 207 is provided, by inserting the connector 207 into the release part 16 of the wall part 14.
[0027] The adapter 100 according to the present embodiment has an adjustment mechanism for adjusting an angle of a detection axis of the radar device 200 with respect to the saddle-type mounting part of the vehicle 1. Specifically, the adapter 100 has three internally threaded portions 15 and three adjustment bolts 70 as an adjustment mechanism. Each internally threaded portion 15 is formed on the first component 10 so as to pass through in the traveling direction, for example. Each adjustment bolt 70 has an externally threaded portion 71 that engages with the internally threaded portion 15. At one end of the externally threaded portion 71, a tool connection portion 72 is provided, the sectional shape of which is, for example, polygonal. That is,: By screwing the external thread part 71 of the adjusting bolt 70 into the internal thread part 15 of the first component 10, connecting the tool to the tool connection part 72 and rotating the adjusting bolt 70, the adjusting bolt 70 is movable in the direction of passage of the internal thread part 15 relative to the first component 10.
[0028] An end of the adjusting bolt 70 facing away from the tool connection part 72 is rotatably and angularly adjustable mounted on the saddle-type attachment part of the vehicle 1. If the adjusting bolt 70 is rotatably and angularly adjustable relative to the saddle-type attachment part of the vehicle 1, the mounting structure of the end of the adjusting bolt 70 on the saddle-type attachment part of the vehicle 1 is not particularly limited. Universal joints with various configurations in which two coupling members are rotatably and angularly adjustable coupled are known. For example, the end of the adjusting bolt 70 can be rotatably and angularly adjustable mounted on the saddle-type attachment part of the vehicle 1 using the known coupling structure of this universal joint.
[0029] In the present embodiment, the end of the adjusting bolt 70 is rotatably and angularly adjustable mounted on the saddle-type mounting part of the vehicle 1 by means of a mounting member 80 that forms the universal joint with the adjusting bolt 70. The mounting member 80 may be an accessory of the adapter 100 or an accessory of the saddle-type vehicle 1. Specifically, a spherical head portion 73, part of whose outer circumference is spherical, is formed at the end of the side facing away from the tool connection portion 72 of the adjusting bolt 70. The mounting member 80 includes a holding portion 81 that rotatably and angularly adjustably supports the spherical head portion 73 of the adjusting bolt 70. The structure of the holding portion 81 for supporting the spherical head portion 73 is not particularly limited. As the structure of the holding part 81 for holding the ball head part 73, the known various structures of the universal joint for rotatably and angularly variable holding of the ball head part can be used.
[0030] By screwing the male thread portion 71 of the adjusting bolt 70 into each female thread portion 15 of the first component 10 and attaching the attachment components 80, the number of which is the same as the adjusting bolts 70, and holding the ball head portion 73 of each adjusting bolt 70 to the holding portion 81 of each attachment component 80, the adapter 100 is attached to the saddle-type attachment part of the vehicle 1. By connecting the tool to the tool connecting portion 72 and rotating each adjusting bolt 70 in an attached state of the adapter 100 to the saddle-type attachment part of the vehicle 1, a distance between the adapter 100 and the saddle-type attachment part of the vehicle 1 can be changed at a position of each adjusting bolt 70. The angle of the adapter 100 with respect to the saddle-type attachment part of the vehicle 1 is thus adjustable. That is,: The angle of the detection axis of the radar device 200 held by the adapter 100 is adjustable with respect to the saddle-type mounting part of the vehicle 1.
[0031] The manner of adjusting the angle from the front portion of the adapter 100 is an example. When the male threaded portion 71 of the adjusting bolt 70 is screwed into the female threaded portion 15 at the front of the first component 10, the adapter 100 is positioned behind the saddle-type attachment portion of the vehicle 1, so that the tool connection portion 72 of the adjusting bolt 70 protrudes toward the rear portion of the first component 10. Consequently, the angle of the adapter 100 relative to the saddle-type attachment portion of the vehicle 1 is adjustable from the rear portion of the adapter 100.
[0032] The adapter 100 according to the present embodiment has three internal threaded parts 15 and three adjustment bolts 70. However, the number of internal threaded parts 15 is not limited to three, nor is the number of adjustment bolts 70 limited to three. If the distance between the adapter 100 and the saddle-type attachment part of the vehicle 1 can be adjusted at at least three locations, the angle of the adapter 100 relative to the saddle-type attachment part of the vehicle 1 can be adjusted. If at least three internal threaded parts 15 are provided, four or more internal threaded parts 15 may be provided. Similarly, if at least three adjustment bolts 70 are provided, four or more adjustment bolts 70 may be provided. In the adapter 100 according to the present embodiment, all the internal threaded parts 15 are provided on the first component 10.The structure is not limited thereto and at least a part of the internal thread parts 15 can be provided on the second component 20.
[0033] When holding the radar device 200 from the adapter 100, as shown in Fig. 2, the end 23 of the second component 20 on the side of the transmitting and receiving surface 201 in the opposite direction of the transmitting and receiving surface 201 and the back side 202 at a position which, when the back side 202 is considered as a reference, is further away from the back side 202 than from the transmitting and receiving surface 201. In other words, when holding the radar device 200 from the adapter 100 in the present embodiment, the end 23 of the second component 20 on the transmitting and receiving surface 201 side protrudes in the opposite direction of the transmitting and receiving surface 201 and the back 202 to the front area of the radar device 200. When holding the radar device 200 from the adapter 100, the end 23 of the second component 20 on the transmitting and receiving surface 201 side in the opposite direction of the transmitting and receiving surface 201 and the back 202 can be at the same position as the transmitting and receiving surface 201.When holding the radar device 200 from the adapter 100 in the present embodiment, the end 24 of the second member 20 on the back surface 202 side in the opposite direction of the transmitting and receiving surface 201 and the back surface 202 is located at the same position as the back surface 202 or at the position that is farther from the transmitting and receiving surface 201 than from the back surface 202 when the transmitting and receiving surface 201 is considered as a reference.
[0034] In the radar device 200, a portion such as a metallic component, etc., which is subject to corrosion due to water may be exposed to the outside. When the radar device 200 is held by the adapter 100, the end 23 of the second component 20 is disposed on the transmitting and receiving surface 201 at the above-described position, so that the upper portion of the radar device 200 can be covered with the second component 20. Consequently, the retention of water such as rain or the like on the component of the radar device 200 which is subject to corrosion due to water can be suppressed, thus preventing corrosion of the component in question. The second component 20 does not need to cover the entire upper portion of the radar device 200 in the opposite direction of the wall portion 13 and the wall portion 14. For example, the upper portion of the radar device 200, which is not corroded due to water, in the opposite direction of the wall part 13 and the wall part 14 does not need to be covered by the second component 20.
[0035] Fig. 5 is a longitudinal sectional view in which the upper part of another example of the radar unit according to the embodiment of the present invention is viewed from the side.
[0036] It is assumed that when the radar device 200 is held by the adapter 100, the end 23 of the second member 20 on the transmitting and receiving surface 201 side is located in the opposite direction between the transmitting and receiving surface 201 and the back surface 202 at a position that, when the back surface 202 is taken as a reference, is farther from the back surface 202 than from the transmitting and receiving surface 201. In this case, the end 23 of the second member 20 on the transmitting and receiving surface 201 side may be bent toward the wall part 12, in other words, toward the radar device 200. Thus, the intrusion of water between the second member 20 and the upper surface part 204 of the radar device 200 from the end 23 of the second member 20 side can be suppressed. In other words, in the present embodiment, the intrusion of water between the second component 20 and the upper surface portion 204 of the radar device 200 from the front portion of the radar unit 3 can be suppressed. Consequently, the retention of water such as rain or the like on the component of the radar device 200 that is corroded due to the water can be further suppressed, and corrosion of the component in question can be further suppressed. Reference numeral 40 in FIG. Fig. 5 shows a radar positioning part 40 described below.
[0037] The adapter 100 further includes a positioning structure that positions the radar device 200 relative to the adapter 100. Specifically, the adapter 100 includes the positioning structure for positioning the part of the radar device 200 on the side of the wall part 12 and the positioning structure for positioning the part of the radar device 200 on the side of the wall part 22. In other words, in the present embodiment, the adapter 100 includes the positioning structure for positioning the lower part of the radar device 200 and the positioning structure for positioning the upper part of the radar device 200. These positioning structures are explained in detail below.
[0038] On the wall part 13 and on the wall part 14 of the first component 10, the adapter 100 each has a groove 60 as a positioning structure for positioning the part of the radar device 200 on the side of the wall part 12 relative to the adapter 100. A projection 209 of the radar device 200 is inserted into the groove 60. The part of the radar device 200 on the side of the wall part 12 is thus positioned on the adapter 100. In detail, this means: The projection 209, which is provided on the left side surface part 205 of the adapter 100, is inserted into the groove 60 of the wall part 13. The projection 209, which is provided on the right side surface part 206 of the adapter 100, is inserted into the groove 60 of the wall part 14. The projection 209 is, for example, a pin attached to an outer wall of the radar device 200. However, the projection 209 can also be formed integrally with the outer wall of the radar device 200.In the present embodiment, the projection 209 is columnar. However, the projection 209 may have a shape other than a columnar shape. The groove 60 is open toward the second component 20. In the present embodiment, the groove 60 extends in the opposite direction of the first component 10 and the second component 20. However, when the groove 60 is open toward the second component 20, the extending direction of the groove 60 may incline toward the opposite direction of the first component 10 and the second component 20.
[0039] The conventional adapter for holding the radar device is formed integrally. That is, the conventional adapter for holding the radar device is formed such that the first component 10 and the second component 20 of the adapter 100 are formed integrally. If it is intended to provide a groove identical to the groove 60 according to the present embodiment on the conventional adapter and to position the radar device opposite to the adapter, the radar device is held by the adapter as follows. First, a portion of the radar device where the projection is provided is inserted into the adapter from an opening of the adapter. The projection of the radar device is then inserted into the groove of the adapter. After that, the radar device is pressed into the adapter from the opening of the adapter while rotating the radar device around the projection of the radar device as a rotation axis. Thus, the radar device is held by the adapter. As described above, if the groove identical to the groove 60 according to the present embodiment is provided on the conventional adapter, a work of pushing the radar during its rotation when holding the radar device from the adapter is required, so that the work of holding the radar device is cumbersome.
[0040] In the adapter 100 according to the present embodiment, however, the protrusion 209 provided on the radar device 200 can be inserted into the groove 60 provided on the first component 10 by inserting the radar device 200 into the first component 10 along the opposite direction of the first component 10 and the second component 20. In the adapter 100 according to the present embodiment, the radar device 200 can be held by the adapter 100 by fastening the first component 10 to the second component 20 through the fastening part 30. Therefore, the adapter 100 according to the present embodiment does not require the above-described step of pressing the radar device 200 into the adapter while rotating it while holding the radar device 200 by the adapter 100.Consequently, the adapter 100 according to the present embodiment can position the radar device 200 on the adapter 100, facilitating the work of holding the radar device 200 by the adapter 100.
[0041] Alternatively, the projection 209 can be provided on the first component 10 and the groove 60 can be provided on the radar device 200. Specifically, this means that in this case, the projection 209 is provided on the wall part 13 and the wall part 14 of the first component 10. Furthermore, the groove 60 is provided on the left side surface part 205 and the right side surface part 206 of the radar device 200. The groove 60, which is provided on the left side surface part 205 and the right side surface part 206 of the radar device 200, is open toward the lower surface part 203 of the radar device 200.
[0042] Even in the case where the adapter 100 and the radar device 200 are configured as above, that is, the radar unit 3 is configured as above, the projection 209 can be inserted into the groove 60 by inserting the radar device 200 into the first component 10 along the opposite direction of the first component 10 and the second component 20. The radar device 200 can be held by the adapter 100 by fixing the first component 10 to the second component 20 by the fixing portion 30. When fixing the radar device 200 to the adapter 100, the above-described work of pushing the radar device into the adapter while rotating the radar device is not required. Consequently, the radar device 200 can be positioned on the adapter 100 even in the case where the radar unit 3 is configured as above, thus facilitating the work of fixing the radar device 200 to the adapter 100.
[0043] In the present embodiment, the groove 60 is formed as follows.
[0044] Fig. 6 and Fig. 7 are enlarged views of the essential part showing a vicinity of the groove of the adapter according to the embodiment of the present invention. Fig. 6 and Fig. 7 are views in which the groove 60 provided on the wall part 13 of the first component 10 of the adapter 100 is shown in the direction of arrow A according to Fig. 3 is considered. Fig. 6 shows the groove 60 before inserting the projection 209 of the radar device 200. Fig. 7 shows the groove 60 in a state in which the projection 209 of the radar device 200 is inserted. The groove 60 provided on the wall part 14 of the first component 10 of the adapter 100 has the same structure as the groove 60 provided on the wall part 13 of the first component 10 of the adapter 100.
[0045] The groove 60 has an open first end 61. The radar device 200 is positioned by the projection 209 of the radar device 200, which is inserted from the first end 61, abutting a second end 62. The groove 60 has a reduced width portion 63 at a position between the first end 61 and the second end 62. The reduced width portion 63 is a portion whose width is reduced in the direction perpendicular to the direction connecting the first end 61 to the second end 62. In detail, this means: The groove 60 has a side wall part 64 and a side wall part 65 as side wall parts that connect the first end 61 to the second end 62. The groove 60 further has a projection 66 on each of the side wall part 64 and the side wall part 65, which projects toward the inner side of the groove 60. In the present embodiment, these elevations 66 form the reduction section 63.In the present embodiment, the side wall portion 64 and the side wall portion 65 are substantially L-shaped (or substantially L-shaped). However, the shape of the side wall portion 64 and the side wall portion 65 is an example. The side wall portion 64 and the side wall portion 65 may also be substantially linear, for example.
[0046] At the reduction section 63 at the groove 60, the width is reduced in the direction perpendicular to the direction connecting the first end 61 to the second end 62. According to the Fig. 6 and Fig. 7, the horizontal width at the reduction portion 63 is reduced at the groove 60. In a state before the projection 209 of the radar device 200 is inserted into the groove 60, the width of the reduction portion 63 in the direction perpendicular to the direction connecting the first end 61 and the second end 62 is smaller than the width of the projection 209 of the radar device 200. When the projection 209 of the radar device 200 is inserted into the groove 60, the reduction portion 63 is therefore pressed by the projection 209 of the radar device 200 and plastically deformed. That is, in a state where the projection 209 of the radar device 200 abuts against the second end 62 and the radar device 200 is positioned, the groove 60 comes into surface contact with the projection 209 of the radar device 200 inserted into the groove 60 at the portion plastically deformed by the projection 209 of the radar device 200 at the reduction portion 63.
[0047] If the contact area between the groove 60 and the projection 209 of the radar device 200 inserted into the groove 60 is small, the contact portion between the groove 60 and the projection 209 of the radar device 200 is easily worn due to vibration transmitted to the radar device 200 and the adapter 100. Therefore, if the contact area between the groove 60 and the projection 209 of the radar device 200 inserted into the groove 60 is small, the radar device 200 held by the adapter 100 is easily shaken. However, in the adapter 100 according to the present embodiment, the contact area between the groove 60 and the projection 209 of the radar device 200 inserted into the groove 60 can be increased when holding the radar device 200. Consequently, the adapter 100 according to the present embodiment can position the radar device 200 while suppressing the shake of the radar device 200.
[0048] It is advantageous that the distances between the elevations 66 provided on the side wall part 64 and on the side wall part 65 and the second end 62 are equal in the direction connecting the first end 61 to the second end 62. In other words, this means: The direction connecting the first end 61 to the second end 62 runs according to the Fig. 6 and Fig. 7 in the vertical direction. In this case, it is advantageous that the elevation 66 provided on the side wall part 64 and the elevation 66 provided on the side wall part 65 are at the same height. Because the elevations 66 are arranged in this way on the side wall part 64 and the side wall part 65, respectively, when the projection 209 of the radar device 200 is inserted into the groove 60, two elevations 66 are pressed simultaneously and two elevations 66 are plastically deformed simultaneously. The positioning accuracy of the radar device 200 is therefore increased by arranging the elevations 66 provided on the side wall part 64 and the side wall part 65 as described above. In the case where the distance from the second end 62 is measured in the direction connecting the first end 61 to the second end 62, for example,a point on the second end 62 that is furthest from the first end 61 is regarded as the detection position of the second end 62, and the measurement is performed. In the case of the . Fig. 6 and Fig. 7, for example, the lowest point at the second end 62 is the detection position of the second end 62.
[0049] In the present embodiment, the protrusion 209 of the radar device 200 is columnar. In this case, it is advantageous that the second end 62 of the groove 60 has a circular arc shape that is dented in the direction away from the first end 61. The second end 62 of the groove 60 is formed as described above, so that the contact area between the second end 62 of the groove 60 and the protrusion 209 of the radar device 200 is increased compared to the case where the second end 62 is V-shaped. The second end 62 of the groove 60 is formed as described above, so that the wobble of the radar device 200 in the adapter 100 can be further suppressed.
[0050] In a case where the projection 209 of the radar device 200 is columnar and the second end 62 of the groove 60 has the circular arc shape dented in the direction away from the first end 61, it is advantageous that the portion of the reduction portion 63 with which the projection 209 of the radar device 200 comes into contact is located at the same position as a central axis of the projection 209 in the direction connecting the first end 61 to the second end 62, or at a position closer to the second end 62 than the central axis of the projection 209. In other words, it is advantageous that according to the Fig. 6 and Fig. 7, in which the direction connecting the first end 61 to the second end 62 is vertical, the portion of the reduction portion 63 that comes into contact with the protrusion 209 of the radar device 200 is lower than the central axis of the protrusion 209. If the protrusion 209 of the radar device 200 is columnar, the width of the protrusion 209 in the direction perpendicular to the direction connecting the first end 61 to the second end 62 is widest at the position of the central axis. Therefore, due to this structure of the reduction portion 63, the protrusion 209 abuts the second end 62 before the widest portion of the protrusion 209 in the direction perpendicular to the direction connecting the first end 61 to the second end 62 passes through the reduction portion 63.Therefore, due to this structure of the reduction portion 63, the generation of the wobble between the projection 209 and the reduction portion 63 can be further suppressed, and the wobble of the radar device 200 in the adapter 100 can be further suppressed.
[0051] The structure of this reduction section 63 can be realized, for example, as follows. On one of the side wall parts 64 and 65, which connect the first end 61 to the second end 62, as shown in Fig. 6, an end of a portion of the reduction portion 63 that comes into contact with the projection 209 of the radar device 200, located on the second end 62 side, is a first point P1. On another side wall part of the side wall parts 64 and 65 that connect the first end 61 to the second end 62, an end of a portion of the reduction portion 63 that comes into contact with the projection 209 of the radar device 200, located on the second end 62 side, is a second point P2. A central point of the circular arc-shaped second end 62 is a central point C. An imaginary straight line connecting the central point C to the first point P1 is a first imaginary straight line L1. An imaginary straight line connecting the central point C to the second point P2 is a second imaginary straight line L2.
[0052] If the definition is as described above, it is preferable that an angle α formed by the first imaginary straight line L1 and the second imaginary straight line L2 on the second end 62 side be 180 degrees or less. When the contact area between the second end 62 and the projection 209 is to be increased, a circular arc radius of the second end 62 is substantially identical to a radius of an outer periphery of the projection 209. Therefore, the central point C is located at a position substantially equal to the central axis of the projection 209. The above-described angle α is set to 180 degrees or less, whereby the portion of the reduction portion 63 with which the projection 209 of the radar device 200 comes into contact is located at the same position as the central axis of the projection 209 in the direction connecting the first end 61 to the second end 62.at a position closer to the second end 62 than the central axis of the projection 209.
[0053] It is advantageous for the first end 61 of the groove 60 to gradually expand away from the second end 62. In the present embodiment, the first end 61 of the groove 60 gradually expands away from the second end 62 due to an inclined surface 67 formed at the first end 61. The first end 61 of the groove 60 gradually expands away from the second end 62, thus facilitating the insertion of the projection 209 into the groove 60 and facilitating the holding of the radar device 200 by the adapter 100.
[0054] The reduction portion 63 is not limited to the protrusion 66. The following presents an example of a groove 60 having a reduction portion 63 formed from a different material than the protrusion 66.
[0055] Fig. 8 is an enlarged view of the essential part showing a vicinity of the groove of another example of the adapter according to the embodiment of the present invention.
[0056] For the groove 60 according to Fig. 8, the side wall portion 64 and the side wall portion 65 gradually approach each other from the second end 62 to the first end 61. Even when the groove 60 is formed as described above, the reduction portion 63 is formed at a position between the first end 61 and the second end 62. Subsequently, the reduction portion 63 is pressed and plastically deformed by the projection 209 of the radar device 200 when the projection 209 of the radar device 200 is inserted into the groove 60.
[0057] Fig. 9 is a longitudinal sectional view in which the radar unit according to the embodiment of the present invention is viewed from the front.
[0058] The adapter 100 has a radar positioning part 40 and an adapter positioning part 50 as a positioning structure for positioning a portion of the radar device 200 on the side of the wall part 22 opposite the adapter 100. The radar positioning part 40 is provided on the second component 20 of the adapter 100 and positions the radar device 200 opposite the second component 20. The adapter positioning part 50 has a first positioning part provided on the first component 10 of the adapter 100 and a second positioning part provided on the second component 20 of the adapter 100 and positions the first component 10 and the second component 20. That is,: The portion of the radar device 200 on the side of the wall part 22 is positioned relative to the adapter 100 by positioning the radar device 200 relative to the second component 20 by the radar positioning part 40 and positioning the first component 10 and the second component 20 by the adapter positioning part 50.
[0059] The conventional adapter was designed to be a single piece and hold a radar device that was pressed into an interior space from an opening. With this conventional adapter, the position of the radar device fluctuates greatly relative to the adapter when the adapter holds the radar device.
[0060] In the adapter 100 according to the present embodiment, however, the radar device 200 can be positioned relative to the adapter 100 by positioning the radar device 200 relative to the second component 20 by the radar positioning part 40 and positioning the first component 10 and the second component 20 by the adapter positioning part 50. Therefore, in the adapter 100 according to the present embodiment, the fluctuation in the position of the radar device 200 relative to the adapter 100 when the adapter 100 supports the radar device 200 can be suppressed further than in the prior art.
[0061] In the present embodiment, the adapter positioning part 50 has a recess 41. A projection 208 provided on the upper surface part 204 of the radar device 200 is inserted into the recess 41. This positions the radar device 200 relative to the second component 20. The projection 208 is, for example, a pin attached to an outer wall of the radar device 200. The projection 208 can be formed integrally with the outer wall of the radar device 200. At an opening of the recess 41 in the present embodiment, an inclined surface 43 is formed so that the opening widens toward the projection 208. Thus, insertion of the projection 208 into the recess 41 is facilitated, and positioning of the radar device 200 and the second component 20 is facilitated. The one radar positioning part 40, which is configured as described above, is provided on the adapter 100 of the present embodiment.
[0062] The above-described structure of the adapter positioning part 50 is an example. The adapter positioning part 50 may, for example, include the protrusion 52 as the first positioning part provided on the first component 10 and the recess 51 as the second positioning part provided on the second component 20. The adapter positioning part 50 may, for example, have a structure using elements other than the recess 51 and the protrusion 52, such as a structure in which positioning is performed by abutting steps. Provided that the rotation of the second component 20 relative to the first component 10 can be restricted by the adapter positioning part 50, the number of adapter positioning parts 50 is also arbitrary.
[0063] In the present embodiment, the radar positioning part 40 has a recess 41. This facilitates the insertion of the projection 208 into the recess 41, and thus facilitates the positioning of the radar device 200 and the second component 20. The one radar positioning part 40 configured as described above is provided on the adapter 100 of the present embodiment.
[0064] The above-described structure of the adapter positioning part 50 is an example. For example, if the recess is provided on the radar device 200, the radar positioning part 40 may be a protrusion that is inserted into the recess. Alternatively, the radar positioning part 40 may have a structure that uses elements other than the recess and the protrusion, such as a structure in which positioning is performed by abutting steps. Two or more radar positioning parts 40 may also be provided on the adapter 100.
[0065] The present embodiment is configured such that the radar positioning part 40 presses the radar device 200 toward the wall part 12 of the first component 10 in a state in which the first component 10 is fixed to the second component 20 by the fixing part 30. Specifically, the radar positioning part 40 has a protrusion 42 that protrudes from the wall part 22 of the second component 20 toward the wall part 12 of the first component 10. The recess 41 of the radar positioning part 40 is provided at a front end of the protrusion 42. The embodiment is configured such that the front end of the protrusion 42 of the radar positioning part 40 presses the radar device 200 against the wall part 12 of the first component 10 in a state in which the first component 10 is fixed to the second component 20 by the fixing part 30.
[0066] If the radar device 200 is clamped by the wall part 12 of the first component 10 and the wall part 22 of the second component 20, it is necessary to provide a structure on the wall part 22 of the second component 20 for pressing the radar device 200 against the wall part 12 of the first component 10. In the present embodiment, the radar positioning part 40 can simultaneously serve as this structure. By having the structure in which the radar positioning part 40 presses the radar device 200 against the wall part 12 of the first component 10, the shape of the first component 10 can be simplified.
[0067] In the present embodiment, the radar positioning part 40 is arranged between the pair of fixing parts 30. In a state in which, as shown in Fig. 3, the second component 20 is not fastened to the first component 10 by the fastening part 30, it is advantageous in this case that at least one intermediate section between the pair of fastening parts 30 curves such that it projects towards the wall part 12 of the first component 10.
[0068] If the radar device 200 is clamped by the wall portion 12 of the first component 10 and the wall portion 22 of the second component 20, the radar device 200 is clamped by a counterforce acting on the wall portion 22 of the second component 20. Specifically, this means: When the first component 10 is fastened to the second component 20 by the fastening portion 30, the wall portion 22 of the second component 20 is pressed and deformed by the radar device 200 in a direction away from the wall portion 12 of the first component 10. Consequently, the wall portion 22 of the second component 20 tends to deform to its original shape. The counterforce is generated at the wall part 22 of the second component 20 in the direction of the wall part 12 of the first component 10. By means of this counterforce, the radar device 200 is clamped by the wall part 12 of the first component 10 and the wall part 22 of the second component 20.
[0069] Therefore, if the intermediate portion between the pair of fastening parts 30 in the second component 20 is flat in the state in which it is not fastened to the first component 10 by the fastening part 30, the intermediate portion between the pair of fastening parts 30 on the second component 20 curves when the first component 10 is fastened to the second component 20 by the fastening part 30 so that the intermediate portion protrudes in the direction away from the wall part 12 of the first component 10.On the other hand, if the intermediate portion between the pair of fastening parts 30 in the second component 20 is curved so as to protrude toward the wall part 12 of the first component 10 in the state in which the fastening part 30 is not fastened to the first component 10, the intermediate portion of the pair of fastening parts 30 in the second component 20 has a shape that is almost flat when the first component 10 is fastened to the second component 20 by the fastening part 30, compared with the case in which the intermediate portion between the pair of fastening parts 30 in the second component 20 is flat in the state in which the fastening part 30 is not fastened to the first component 10.Therefore, if the second component 20, in the state in which it is not fastened to the first component 10 by the fastening part 30, has the intermediate portion between the pair of fastening parts 30 curved to protrude toward the wall part 12 of the first component 10, the designability of the radar unit 3 is increased. In other words, if the second component 20, in the state in which it is not fastened to the first component 10 by the fastening part 30, has the intermediate portion between the pair of fastening parts 30 curved to protrude toward the wall part 12 of the first component 10, the designability of the adapter 100 holding the radar device 200 is increased.
[0070] In the present embodiment, the second member 20 is made of resin. In this case, it is more advantageous that the entirety of the second member 20, in a state not fixed to the first member 10 by the fixing part 30, is curved to protrude toward the wall part 12 of the first member 10. The reason for this is as follows: It is assumed that, in the second member 20, in a state not fixed to the first member 10 by the fixing part 30, only the intermediate portion between the pair of fixing parts 30 is curved to protrude toward the wall part 12 of the first member 10.In this case, when the first component 10 is fixed to the second component 20 by the fixing part 30 and the second component 20 is deformed, stress concentration occurs at a boundary between a curved portion between the fixing parts 30 and a flat portion adjacent to this portion in the second component 20. If the second component 20 is made of resin, and a creep phenomenon occurs at the boundary due to the stress concentration, the counterforce acting on the wall portion 22 of the second component 20 gradually decreases. That is, the clamping force of the radar device 200 gradually decreases.
[0071] On the other hand, if the entirety of the second component 20 is curved in the state in which it is not fastened to the first component 10 by the fastening part 30 so that it projects in the direction of the wall part 12 of the first component 10, the counterforce acting on the wall part 22 of the second component 20 is greater compared to the case in which the section is partially curved so that it projects in the direction of the wall part 12 of the first component 10. Thus, when the entirety of the second member 20 is curved so as to protrude toward the wall portion 12 of the first member 10 in the state not fastened to the first member 10 by the fastening portion 30, the reaction force acting on the wall portion 22 of the second member 20 is larger compared with the case where the portion is partially curved so as to protrude toward the wall portion 12 of the first member 10, even after the reaction force acting on the wall portion 22 of the second member 20 is reduced by the creep phenomenon. Therefore, when the second component 20 is made of resin and the entirety of the second component 20 is curved so as to protrude toward the wall part 12 of the first component 10 when not fastened to the first component 10 by the fastening part 30, the adapter 100 can stably hold the radar device 200 for a long time.
[0072] If at least the intermediate portion between the pair of fastening parts 30 of the second component 20 is curved so as to protrude toward the wall portion 12 of the first component 10 when the fastening part 30 is not fastened to the first component 10, the following advantage can be achieved. The farther the portion of the second component 20 is from the portion abutting the radar device 200 when the first component 10 is fastened to the second component 20 and when the radar device 200 is pressed against the second component 20, the more difficult it is to deform. Therefore, in the second component 20, in the state not fixed to the first component 10 by the fixing part 30, if at least the intermediate portion between the pair of fixing parts 30 is curved to protrude toward the wall part 12 of the first component 10, the end 23 of the second component 20 on the side of the transmitting and receiving surface 201 is easily put into a state in which the end 23 is bent toward the radar device 200 when the first component 10 is fixed to the second component 20.In the second component 20, in the state not fixed to the first component 10 by the fixing part 30, if at least the intermediate portion between the pair of fixing parts 30 is curved to protrude toward the wall part 12 of the first component 10, the intrusion of the water between the second component 20 and the upper surface part 204 of the radar device 200 is easily suppressed, so that the corrosion of the component of the radar device 200 which is corroded due to the water is easily suppressed.
[0073] It is advantageous that after the recess 51 comes into contact with the projection 52 of the adapter positioning part 50 during the fastening of the first component 10 to the second component 20 by the fastening part 30, the radar positioning part 40 comes into contact with the radar device 200. It is assumed that, when the radar device 200 and the second component 20 are positioned by the radar positioning part 40, for example, the recess 51 does not yet come into contact with the projection 52 of the adapter positioning part 50. In this case, the second component 20 is placed in a state in which it is rotatably attached to the radar device 200 by the radar positioning part 40, for example, depending on a structure of the radar positioning part 40. The work in which the second component 20 is positioned in this state and the first component 10 is positioned by the adapter positioning part 50 is cumbersome.
[0074] On the other hand, assume that the first component 10 and the second component 20 are positioned by the adapter positioning part 50, and then the radar device 200 and the second component 20 are positioned by the radar positioning part 40. In this case, the non-rotating second component 20 and the radar device 200 can be positioned by the radar positioning part 40. Due to the structure in which the radar positioning part 40 comes into contact with the radar device 200 after the recess 51 contacts the projection 52 of the adapter positioning part 50, the work of positioning the radar device 200 and the adapter 100 by means of the radar positioning part 40 and the adapter positioning part 50 is facilitated.
[0075] Fig. Fig. 10 is a longitudinal section in which the upper part of the radar unit according to the embodiment of the present invention is viewed from one side. This Fig. Fig. 10 shows a state in which, in the attached state of the first component 10 to the second component 20, some force acted on the second component 20 through the fastening part 30 and the projection 208 of the radar device 200 fell out of the recess 41 of the radar positioning part 40 of the second component 20. In this case, there is a risk that the radar device 200, as indicated by a framed arrow in Fig. 10, is movable in the direction from the rear side 202 to the transmitting and receiving surface 201 and falls out of the adapter 100.
[0076] The second component 20 of the adapter 100 according to the present embodiment therefore has a stop part 25. When the radar device 200 moves in the direction from the rear side 202 toward the transmitting and receiving surface 201 in the state in which the first component 10 is attached to the second component 20 by the attachment part 30, the stop part 25 stops the radar device 200. The present embodiment is configured such that when the radar device 200 moves in the direction from the rear side 202 toward the transmitting and receiving surface 201, the stop part 25 stops a protrusion 210 provided on the upper surface part 204 of the radar device 200. However, the position of the radar device 200 that the stop part 25 stops is arbitrary. When the radar device 200 moves in the direction from the rear side 202 to the transmitting and receiving surface 201, the stopping part 25 can, for example, stop the transmitting and receiving surface 201 of the radar device 200.In this case, it is not necessary to provide the protrusion 210 on the radar device 200. The adapter 100 according to the present embodiment has the stop part 25, so that even if, in the state where the first component 10 is fixed to the second component 20 by the fixing part 30, some force acts on the second component 20 and the protrusion 208 of the radar device 200 falls out of the recess 41 of the radar positioning part 40 of the second component 20, the radar device 200 can be prevented from falling out of the adapter 100. <Verfahren zum Halten der Radarvorrichtung durch den Adapter>
[0077] Next, a method for holding the radar device 200 by the adapter 100 will be explained.
[0078] In a state in which the first component 10 is not fastened to the second component 20, the radar device 200 is first inserted into the first component 10. Specifically, this means: The radar device 200 is inserted into the first component 10 along a direction in which the first component 10 and the second component 20 are opposite each other when the first component 10 is fastened to the second component 20. Subsequently, the projection 209 provided on the radar device 200 is inserted into the groove 60 provided on the wall part 13 and the wall part 14 of the first component 10 of the adapter 100. The projection 209 provided on the radar device 200 then rests against the second end 62 of the groove 60. The section of the radar device 200 on the side of the wall part 12 can thus be positioned opposite the first component 10 of the adapter 100. The groove 60 is open in the direction of the second component 20 when the first component 10 is fastened to the second component 20.The radar device 200 can therefore be inserted into the first component 10 while the direction in which the lower surface part 203 and the upper surface part 204 are opposite is substantially parallel to the direction in which the first component 10 and the second component 20 are opposite when the first component 10 is attached to the second component 20.
[0079] The first component 10 and the second component 20 of the adapter 100 are then positioned by the adapter positioning part 50, and the radar device 200 is positioned relative to the second component 20 by the radar positioning part 40. Specifically, this means: The second component 20 is brought closer to the first component 10 along the direction in which the first component 10 and the second component 20 are opposite each other when the first component 10 is attached to the second component 20. Subsequently, the projection 52 is inserted into the recess 51 in the adapter positioning part 50, so that the first component 10 and the second component 20 of the adapter 100 are positioned. Furthermore, the projection 208 of the radar device 200 is inserted into the recess 41 of the radar positioning part 40, so that the radar device 200 is positioned relative to the second component 20.Thus, the portion of the radar device 200 can be positioned on the side of the wall part 22 opposite the adapter 100.
[0080] As described above, the radar device 200 can be inserted into the first component 10 while the direction in which the lower surface part 203 and the upper surface part 204 are opposed is substantially parallel to the direction in which the first component 10 and the second component 20 are opposed when the first component 10 is attached to the second component 20. Therefore, the radar device 200 inserted into the first component 10 is located at a position where, when the first component 10 and the second component 20 of the adapter 100 are positioned by the adapter positioning part 50, the projection 208 of the radar device 200 can easily penetrate the recess 41 of the radar positioning part 40. Specifically, this means that the recess 41 of the radar positioning part 40 and the projection 208 of the radar device 200 are substantially opposed. Therefore, in the adapter 100 according to the present embodiment, the positioning of the portion of the radar device 200 on the side of the wall part 22 opposite the adapter 100 is facilitated.
[0081] Finally, the first component 10 is fastened to the second component 20 of the adapter 100 by the fastening part 30. The radar device 200 is thus clamped by the first component 10 and the second component 20, and the radar device 200 is placed in the state in which it is held by the adapter 100. <Vorteil des Adapters>
[0082] The adapter 100 according to the present embodiment holds the radar device 200, which is installed in the saddle-type vehicle 1. The adapter 100 according to the present embodiment includes the first member 10, the second member 20, the radar positioning part 40, and the adapter positioning part 50. The first member 10 is provided with the wall part 12 facing the lower surface part 203 of the radar device 200. The second member 20 is provided with the wall part 22 facing the upper surface part 204 of the radar device 200 and is fixed to the first member 10 by the fixing part 30. The radar positioning part 40 is provided on the second member 20 and positions the radar device 200. The adapter positioning part 50 includes the first positioning part provided on the first member 10 and the second positioning part provided on the second member 20, and positions the first member and the second member.
[0083] In the adapter 100 configured as above, the radar device 200 can be positioned relative to the adapter 100 by positioning the radar device 200 relative to the second component 20 by the radar positioning part 40 and positioning the first component 10 and the second component 20 by the adapter positioning part 50. Therefore, in the adapter 100 configured as above, as described above, the fluctuation of the position of the radar device 200 relative to the adapter 100 when the adapter 100 supports the radar device 200 can be suppressed further than in the prior art.
[0084] The adapter 100 and the radar unit 3 according to the present embodiment were explained above. However, the adapter and the radar unit according to the present invention are not limited to this embodiment. For example, only a part of the explanation of the embodiment may be provided.
[0085] For example, the adapter 100 according to the present embodiment includes the grooves 60, the radar positioning part 40, and the adapter positioning part 50 as a positioning structure for positioning the radar device 200. The adapter according to the present invention is not limited to this and does not need to include the grooves 60 as a positioning structure for positioning the radar device 200. When the radar positioning part 40 and the adapter positioning part 50 are provided, the portion of the radar device 200 can be positioned on the side of the wall part 22. Therefore, when at least the radar positioning part 40 and the adapter positioning part 50 are provided, the fluctuation in the position of the radar device 200 held by the adapter according to the present invention can be suppressed more than in the prior art.
[0086] The position of the radar unit 3 shown as an embodiment is also merely an example. The radar unit according to the present invention can be mounted on the saddle-type vehicle, for example, in an orientation in which the first component and the second component of the adapter according to the present invention are transversely opposite each other.
