Description

[0001] The present invention relates to a method for attaching a layered component to a substrate.

[0002] In construction, it is necessary to attach insulation material, particularly layered components, to the walls or ceilings of buildings. The insulation material generally serves as thermal insulation for the walls or ceilings and is attached to the exterior of the building. Fasteners with setting elements, such as nails, are used to secure the material to the wall or ceiling. These plastic fasteners consist of a hollow shaft and a plate, which, after being attached, rests on the outer surface of the insulation material. The shaft is positioned within a through-hole in the insulation. The hollow shaft has a base with a passage for the setting element, allowing the fastener to be indirectly attached to the insulation material via the setting element.

[0003] To drive the setting element into the substrate, a setting tool is used, consisting of a driving element guided in a channel and a drive for the driving element. The amount of energy applied to the driving element by the drive is typically matched to the setting element, the fastener, and the substrate, whereby excess energy is at least partially dissipated in the fastener and / or the setting tool, mechanically stressing and potentially damaging the fastener or the setting tool.

[0004] From DE 699 13 394 T2, a base plate for attaching an element is known, which has a receiving recess for a guide skirt for a nail. A damping shell is arranged in the receiving recess and surrounded by an annular recess. This is intended to ensure that the guide skirt of the nail lies in the shell and provides damping.

[0005] From EP 0 628 384 A2, a method for setting fasteners using setting tools is known, which serves to fasten insulation panels to building components. A guide tube of the setting tool has a connection area which is intended to generate a frictional force in order to carry out a setting check after the setting process has been completed.

[0006] The object of the present invention is to provide a fastening method in which the mechanical stress on a fastening element and / or a setting device is reduced.

[0007] The problem is solved by a method according to claim 1.

[0008] This process dissipates any excess energy that may occur in the nail within the sleeve, thus reducing the mechanical stress on the device driving the insertion element. Preferably, the component comprises an insulating material and / or the substrate is a wall or ceiling of a building.

[0009] An advantageous embodiment is characterized in that a part of the sleeve is pushed through the circumferential gap between the nail head and the guide channel.

[0010] An advantageous embodiment is characterized in that the driving element comprises a piston which has a piston diameter, wherein the inner diameter exceeds the piston diameter, so that a further circumferential gap is formed between the piston and the guide channel, wherein a part of the sleeve is pressed into the further circumferential gap between the piston and the guide channel.

[0011] An advantageous embodiment is characterized in that the sleeve deforms plastically during compression between the nail shaft, the guide channel and the nail head.

[0012] An advantageous embodiment is characterized in that the sleeve undergoes plastic deformation during the insertion of a portion of the sleeve into the circumferential gap between the nail head and the guide channel. Preferably, the insertion of a portion of the sleeve into the circumferential gap between the nail head and the guide channel comprises a bulk forming, particularly preferably an extrusion, of the sleeve.

[0013] An advantageous embodiment is characterized in that the sleeve undergoes plastic deformation during the insertion of a portion of the sleeve into the wider circumferential gap between the piston and the guide channel. Preferably, the insertion of a portion of the sleeve into the wider circumferential gap between the piston and the guide channel comprises a bulk forming, particularly preferably an extrusion, of the sleeve.

[0014] An advantageous embodiment is characterized in that the sleeve deforms elastically during the insertion of a part of the sleeve into the circumferential gap between the nail head and the guide channel.

[0015] An advantageous embodiment is characterized in that the sleeve deforms elastically during the insertion of a part of the sleeve into the further circumferential gap between the piston and the guide channel.

[0016] An advantageous embodiment is characterized in that the shaft base has a passage for the nail shaft.

[0017] An advantageous embodiment is characterized in that a power-operated setting device is provided, comprising the guide channel, the driving element and a drive for the driving element, wherein the guide channel extends beyond the driving element in all positions of the driving element in the driving direction.

[0018] An advantageous embodiment is characterized in that the sleeve consists essentially of preferably thermoplastic plastic.

[0019] An advantageous embodiment is characterized in that the nail, the driving element and / or the guide channel consist essentially of a metal or an alloy, preferably steel.

[0020] Exemplary embodiments of the invention are described in more detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings. These show: Fig. 1 shows a partial longitudinal section of a fastening element at the beginning of a fastening process, and Fig. 2 shows a partial longitudinal section of the fastening element according to Fig. 1 at the end of the fastening process.

[0021] In Fig. 1 A fastening element 10 and a nail 20 as well as a driving element 30 and a guide channel 40 are partially shown in a longitudinal section.

[0022] The fastening element 10 comprises a plate 11 for holding a component (not shown) against a substrate (also not shown), a hollow shaft 12 projecting from the plate 11 with a shaft base 13, and a sleeve 15 projecting from the shaft base 13. The shaft base 13 has a passage 14 for the nail 20. The sleeve 15, preferably the entire fastening element 10, consists essentially of a thermoplastic material.

[0023] The nail 20 comprises a nail shank 21 with a nail point 22 and a nail head 23 with a head diameter that projects beyond the nail shank 21. The nail 20 is pre-assembled in the passage 14, such that the sleeve 15 is arranged on and surrounds the nail shank 21. The nail 20 is made essentially of steel.

[0024] The driving element 30 and the guide channel 40 are also essentially made of steel and are part of a setting device (not shown) which further includes a drive for the driving element. The driving element 30 consists of a piston with a piston diameter approximately the same as the head diameter of the nail head 23.

[0025] The guide channel 40 has an inner diameter that exceeds the head diameter of the nail head 23 and the piston diameter of the driving element 30, so that a circumferential gap 41 forms between the nail head 23 and the guide channel 40, and a further circumferential gap 42 forms between the driving element 30 and the guide channel 40. The circumferential gap 41 and / or the further circumferential gap 42 each have a gap width that is preferably between 0.5 mm and 1.5 mm, for example 0.8 mm. The guide channel 40 projects beyond the driving element 30 in all positions of the driving element in a driving direction 50, so that the fastening element 10 is not damaged by the nail 20 when the nail is driven into the substrate in the fastening direction 50.

[0026] At the start of a fastening process, the guide channel 40 is inserted into the hollow shaft 12 until it rests against the shaft base 13, so that the sleeve 15 and the nail head 23 are positioned within the guide channel. This creates a cavity 43 between the nail shaft 21, the guide channel 40, and the nail head 23, in which the sleeve 15 is located. As soon as the setting device (not shown) is triggered, its drive propels the driving element 30 through the guide channel 40 towards the nail head 23, thus moving the nail 20 in the driving direction 50 towards the substrate and driving it into the substrate.

[0027] In Fig. 2The fastening element 10, the nail 20, the driving element 30, and the guide channel 40 are shown at the end of the fastening process. As the nail 20 with its head 23 moved towards the substrate, the sleeve 15 between the nail shank 21, the guide channel 40, and the nail head 23 was compressed. The sleeve 15 is plastically deformed and completely fills the cavity 43 between the nail shank 21, the guide channel 40, and the nail head 23. Furthermore, a portion of the sleeve 15 was forced through the circumferential gap 41 between the nail head 23 and the guide channel 40 and into the further circumferential gap 42 between the driving element 30 and the guide channel 40. In this process, the sleeve 15 was also plastically deformed, specifically extruded.Part of the deformation of the sleeve 15 is elastic, causing the sleeve 15 to bear against the nail head 23 with an external preload and to grip the nail head 23 when the driving element 30 is withdrawn from the hollow shaft 12 of the fastening element 10. This force-fit and form-fit may improve the fastening quality.

[0028] The invention was described using the example of a method for attaching, in particular, an insulating material to a wall or ceiling of a building. However, it should be noted that the invention is also suitable for other purposes.
