Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: VEHICLE DISPLAY CONTROL DEVICE technical field
[0001] The present invention relates to a vehicle display control device, comprising a display unit configured to be capable of displaying an image, and a control unit configured to be capable of controlling the display unit. Prior art
[0002] In vehicles, such as automobiles, a display control device that displays an image of the vehicle's periphery captured by an imaging unit, such as a camera or similar device, on a display unit, such as a liquid crystal display or similar device, located in the vehicle's passenger compartment, may be installed to assist the driver in operating the vehicle. In particular, a display control device that displays an image of the rear of the vehicle on the display unit when the vehicle is reversing is in widespread use. There is one instance in which such a display control device is called a "rearview monitor."
[0003] In the display control device, to convey more information to the driver, a case exists in which at least two sections, each showing at least two pieces of information, are displayed on the display unit. Typically, in the display control device, a case exists in which an image of one side of the vehicle's direction of travel is displayed on the entire display unit as the main screen, and an image from a different viewpoint than the image of the side of the vehicle's direction of travel is displayed on a portion of the display unit so as to overlap the main screen, in the form of a smaller pop-up screen.
[0004] As an example of such a display control device, there is a driving support display device comprising a display control means that displays an image of a wide area located at the rear of the vehicle in a region of a square main screen and displays a conversion image of the rear view of the vehicle in a region of a pop-up screen, the display control means being configured to display the pop-up screen region on an upper corner portion of the main screen region, or being configured to selectively display the pop-up screen region either at the top or at the bottom of the main screen (see, for example, Patent Document 1).
[0005] Patent Document 1: JP 2003-104145 A Technical problem
[0006] However, in the example of the display control device described above, the pop-up screen is only displayed on a certain predetermined portion of the main screen. Consequently, there is a risk that an important part of the main screen that the driver wishes to view will be obscured by the pop-up screen. Furthermore, there is also a risk that the pop-up screen may not be effectively positioned on a non-essential portion of the main screen that does not require confirmation from the driver. In other words, in the example of the vehicle display control device, there is a risk that the pop-up screen may not be displayed appropriately on the display unit according to the driver's needs.
[0007] Given such a situation, in the vehicle display control device, it is desirable that each section can be displayed appropriately on the display unit which can display at least two sections according to the driver's needs. Technical solution

[0029] A vehicle display control device according to each of the first and second embodiments will be described below. A vehicle to which the vehicle display control device according to this embodiment is applied (hereinafter referred to as the "display control device" or "control device," as appropriate) is an automobile. However, the control device can also be applied to vehicles other than automobiles.
[0030] First embodiment
[0031] The display control device according to the first embodiment is described.
[0032] Outline of the display control device
[0033] An outline of a display control device 10 according to the present embodiment is described with reference to [Fig. 1] to [Fig. 7]. In [Fig. 1] and [Fig. 2], a front side of a vehicle 1 is indicated by an arrow Av, and a rear side of the vehicle 1 is indicated by an arrow Ar. In [Fig. 1], a lateral portion in one direction along the width of the vehicle 1 is partially omitted so that the interior of a passenger compartment of the vehicle 2 is visible.
[0034] As illustrated in [Fig. 1] to 3, the control device 10 comprises four imaging units 11, 12, 13 and 14 respectively configured to be capable of capturing A peripheral region including a rear region, a front region, and a lateral region of the vehicle. 1. Imaging units 11 and 12 are installed in the vehicle. 1. In particular, imaging units 11 to 14 are preferably cameras. However, the imaging unit is not limited to a camera.
[0035] The four imaging units 11 to 14 comprise a rear imaging unit 11, a front imaging unit 12, and two side imaging units 13 and 14. The two side imaging units 13 and 14 comprise the left imaging unit 13 and the right imaging unit 14. The rear imaging unit 11 is configured to capture the rear region of vehicle 1, and the front imaging unit 12 is configured to capture the front region of vehicle 1. Each of the two side imaging units 13 and 14 is configured to capture both side regions of vehicle 1. More specifically, the left imaging unit 13 is configured to capture a left region of the vehicle, and the right imaging unit 14 is configured to capture a right region of the vehicle.
[0036] The rear and front regions are positioned respectively on the rear and front sides of vehicle 1. The two side regions are positioned on an outer side of vehicle 1 in a direction spanning the vehicle's width. The left region is positioned on the left when viewed from the front of the vehicle relative to vehicle 1, and the right region is positioned on the right when viewed from the front of the vehicle relative to vehicle 1. In the following, left and right refer respectively to the left and right sides when viewed from the front of the vehicle. Furthermore, when the peripheral region of the vehicle can be captured, the control device may include an imaging unit different from the rear, front, left, and right imaging units instead of at least one of the four imaging units. In addition to the four imaging units, the control device may also include such different imaging units.
[0037] In the present embodiment, one direction of travel of vehicle 1 is the direction of travel of vehicle 1. In other words, the rear region positioned on the rear side of vehicle 1 is a displacement region A positioned on the side of the direction of travel of vehicle 1. Therefore, when vehicle 1 is traveling in reverse, the rear imaging unit 11 captures the displacement region A. However, the present invention is not limited to this, and the front region positioned on the front side of the vehicle can also be the displacement region. In this case, the direction of travel of the vehicle is forward, and when the vehicle is moving forward, the front imaging unit captures the displacement region.
[0038] As illustrated in [Fig. 1] to 3, the control device 10 includes a display unit 15 configured to be capable of displaying an image. The display unit 15 is located in the passenger compartment of vehicle 2 of vehicle 1. The display unit 15 may be a liquid crystal display. However, the display unit is not limited to a liquid crystal display. For example, the display unit may be an organic EL (ElectroLuminescent) display or similar.
[0039] As illustrated in [Fig.3] to 7, the control device 10 includes a control unit 16 configured to control the display unit 15 so as to display a first section DI to show a first image captured by the rear imaging unit 11, and a second section D2 to show a second image on the display unit 15. The control unit 16 is also installed in the vehicle 1. The second image is different from the first image. In [Fig.4] to [Fig.7], the direction of movement of vehicle 1 on display unit 15, i.e. the direction of reverse, is indicated by an arrow Ar, and the direction of the width of the vehicle on display unit 15 is indicated by an arrow W. In addition, [Fig.4], 5 and 7 show a situation in which vehicle 1 is moving in reverse in a substantially straight line, and [Fig.6] shows a situation in which vehicle 1 is moving in reverse while turning.
[0040] As illustrated in [Fig. 4] to 7, the control unit 16 is configured to be able to specify a parking zone P where the vehicle 1 is parked, or a planned movement zone Q where the vehicle 1 is to move in the first image. The control unit 16 is configured to display the second section D2 on the display unit 15 on a side opposite the position of the vehicle 1 with respect to an outer edge line PI of the parking zone P or to an outer edge line Q1 of the planned movement zone Q illustrated in the first section DI.
[0041] By way of example, the control unit 16 can be configured to include: electronic components, such as a central processing unit (CPU), random access memory (RAM), read-only memory (ROM), flash memory, an input interface, and an output interface; and an electrical circuit in which the electronic components are arranged. However, the imaging unit is not limited to this.
[0042] Furthermore, the control device 10 can be configured as follows. As illustrated in [Fig. 4] to 7, the control unit 16 is configured to display the second section D2 on the display unit 15 so that the second section D2 is positioned away from the outer edge line PI of the parking area P or from the outer edge line Q1 of the planned movement area Q in the first section DI
[0043] As illustrated in [Fig. 4] and 5, the control unit 16 is configured to be able to specify an outer edge line RI of an obstacle R positioned under a predetermined distance to the obstacle L from vehicle 1. The control unit 16 is configured to display the second section D2 on the display unit 15 on the opposite side to the position of vehicle 1 relative to the outer edge line RI of the obstacle R illustrated in the first section D1.
[0044] As illustrated in [Fig. 6] to 7, the control unit 16 is configured to display the second section D2 on the display unit 15 so that the second section D2 is away from the outer edge line PI of the parking zone P or the outer edge line Q1 of the planned movement zone Q, and from the outer line RI of the obstacle R in the first section RI. In the case where the parking zone P or the planned movement zone Q is offset from the obstacle in the direction of movement of the vehicle 1, i.e. in the direction of reversing (indicated by the arrow Ar) and in the direction of the width of the vehicle (indicated by the arrow W),The control unit 16 causes a first shortest distance H1 between the second section D2 and the outer edge line RI of the obstacle R to be greater than a second shortest distance H2 between the second section D2 and the outer edge line PI of the parking area P or the outer edge line Q1 of the planned movement area Q.
[0045] Based on the above description, the situation illustrated in [Fig. 4] to [Fig. 7] is now described in detail. [Fig. 4] shows a situation in which vehicle 1 is reversing in a substantially straight line, enters parking space P, and reaches a state in which it is immediately in front of a wall, in a case where the wall, which is the obstacle R, is positioned on the side of the direction of reversing relative to parking space P. [Fig. 5] shows a situation in which vehicle 1 is reversing in a substantially straight line and reaches a state immediately before entering parking space P, in a case where another vehicle, which is the obstacle R, is parked on each side, left and right, in the direction of reversing relative to parking space P.
[0046] Figure 6 shows a situation in which vehicle 1 is moving in reverse While turning, vehicle 1 reaches a state immediately before entering parking zone P in a case where another vehicle, which is the obstacle R, is parked on both the left and right sides in the direction of reversing relative to parking zone P. Figure 7 shows a situation in which vehicle 1 is reversing in a substantially straight line, enters parking zone P, and reaches a state immediately before a final parking position in a case where another vehicle, which is the obstacle R, is parked on the side of the road in the direction of reversing and to the right in the direction of reversing relative to the parking zone. [0048] Details of the display control device 10 according to the present embodiment are described with reference to [Fig. 1] to [Fig. 7]. The control device 10 can be configured to display information from an on-board device providing information, such as a car navigation system or similar. As illustrated in [Fig. 4] to [Fig. 7], a plurality of first images are shown continuously as videos in the first section D1. A plurality of second images are shown continuously as videos in the second section D2. The second image can be an image viewed from a different perspective than the first image. The second image can be an aerial image when the vehicle 1 is viewed from above. Furthermore, in [Fig. 4] to [Fig. 6], a rear portion of the vehicle 1 viewed from above in a front-to-rear direction is displayed in the second image of the second section D2.
[0049] However, the second image is not limited to this. A second image may be shown as a still image in the second section. The second image is not limited to an image viewed from a different perspective than the first image. For example, the second image may also be an image in which at least some of the vehicle information and information about the vehicle's periphery is indicated by characters, symbols, illustrations, photographs, and / or the like. Furthermore, the second image is not limited to an aerial view. For example, the second image may also be an image captured by an imaging unit other than the rear imaging unit. The other imaging unit may be the front imaging unit, a side-view camera, or the like.
[0050] The size of the first section D1 is equal to or greater than the size of the second section D2. The first section D1 can be displayed on substantially the entire display unit 15. The second section D2 can be displayed on a portion of the display unit 15. The second section D2 can be displayed overlapping the first section D1 so as to cover a portion of the first section D1. Substantially, the entire second section D2 can be arranged within the first section D1. Each of the first and second sections D1 and D2 can be a screen, and in this case, the first and second sections D1 and D2 can also be called the first and second screens, respectively. In particular, the first section D1 can be a so-called main screen, and the second section D2 can be a so-called contextual screen.
[0051] The parking zone P is a defined area corresponding to the size of vehicle 1 so that vehicle 1 can be parked. The planned movement zone Q is an area that extends between vehicle 1 and the parking zone P of the Each of the parking area P and the planned movement area Q is defined along a ground surface G such that it presents a gap over which the vehicle 1 can pass. The outer edge lines PI and Q1 of the parking area P and the planned movement area Q may be connected and may extend continuously in the longitudinal direction of the outer edge lines PI and Q1. The outer edge line Q1 of the planned movement area Q is defined so as to extend linearly or curve depending on the position, orientation, steering performance, and / or similar characteristics of the vehicle 1.
[0052] Next, as illustrated in [Fig. 1] and 2, the control device 10 includes at least one of sonar sensors 17 and 18, configured to be able to detect the obstacle R and to specify the position of the obstacle R relative to the vehicle 1, and in particular, the control device 10 includes a plurality of sonar sensors 17 and 18. The sonar sensors 17 and 18 are installed in the vehicle 1.
[0053] More specifically, as illustrated in [Fig.2], the plurality of sonar sensors 17 and 18 comprises at least one rear sonar sensor 17 disposed in the rear part of the vehicle 1, and at least one front sonar sensor 18 disposed in the front part of the vehicle 1. However, the present invention is not limited to this, and the control device may also include an infrared Lidar instead of, or in addition to, the sonar sensor.
[0054] In [Fig. 2], by way of example, the control device 10 comprises six rear sonar sensors 17. The six rear sonar sensors 17 are arranged at intervals in the outward circumferential direction of the vehicle 1. In addition, four of the six rear sonar sensors 17 are located at the rear end portion of the rear section la of the vehicle 1, and two of the six rear sonar sensors 17 are arranged at the two end portions of the rear section la in the width direction of the vehicle, respectively. However, the number and position of the rear sonar sensors are not limited to these examples.
[0055] Furthermore, in [Fig. 2], by way of example, the control device 10 comprises six front sonar sensors 18. The six front sonar sensors 18 are arranged at intervals in the outer circumferential direction of the vehicle 1. In addition, four of the six front sonar sensors 18 are located at the front end portion of the front section 1b of the vehicle 1 in the front-to-rear direction of the vehicle, and two of the six front sonar sensors 18 are arranged at the two end portions of the front section 1b in the direction of the vehicle's width, respectively. However, the number and position of the front sonar sensors are not limited to these examples.
[0056] The control device 10 also includes an information gathering unit 19 configured to be able to collect basic information to obtain information about the first and second images. The collection unit Information unit 19 includes the rear and front imaging units 11 and 12, the left and right imaging units 13 and 14, and the rear and front sonar sensors 17 and 18. In addition, the information collection unit 19 includes at least one device configured to obtain at least one of the following: images obtained by devices other than the rear and front imaging units 11 and 12; millimeter-wave radar; laser remote sensing (LIDAR); a global positioning system (GPS); a vehicle information and communication system (VICS) (for example, an intelligent transport system (ITS) beacon; a radio beacon, an optical beacon; a frequency modulation (FM) multiplex broadcast; and analog); an embedded program; etc.
[0057] Details of the imaging unit and the display unit
[0058] In detail, the imaging units 11 and 12 and the display unit 15 can be configured as follows. As illustrated in [Fig. 1] and [Fig. 2], the rear and front imaging units 11 and 12 are arranged respectively on the rear and front sections 1a and 1b of vehicle 1. In particular, the rear imaging unit 11 is located on the rear end of the rear section 1a. Furthermore, the front imaging unit 12 is located on the front end of the front section 1b. The two side imaging units 13 and 14 are located on the two side mirrors 4 and 5 of vehicle 1, respectively. More precisely, the left imaging unit 13 is located on the left side mirror 4 of vehicle 1, and the right imaging unit 14 is located on the right side mirror 5 of vehicle 1. However, the arrangement of the imaging units is not limited to this.
[0059] As illustrated in [Fig. 1], the display unit 15 is positioned at the front of the vehicle in the passenger compartment of the vehicle 2 so as to be visible to a driver. The display unit 15 may be positioned on a dashboard 3 located at the front of the vehicle in the passenger compartment of the vehicle 2. In [Fig. 4] to [Fig. 7], the display unit 15 has a substantially square shape, in particular a substantially rectangular shape. However, the display unit is not limited to this.
[0060] Control unit details
[0061] In detail, the control unit 16 can be configured as follows. As illustrated in [Fig. 3], the control unit 16 includes a direction-of-travel determination unit 21 that determines whether the vehicle 1 is in a reverse-moving state or not. The direction-of-travel determination unit 21 can determine whether a gear-shifting mechanism (not shown) of the vehicle 1 has been set to be in a state in which the vehicle 1 is moving in reverse, or can determine whether the driver has set a gear in reverse.
[0062] The control unit 16 includes a parking mode assignment unit 22 that initiates a parking display mode to display the first and second sections DI and D2 on the display unit 15 when the direction-of-travel determination unit 21 determines that the vehicle 1 is in a reverse-moving state. However, the parking mode assignment unit is not limited to this. For example, the parking mode assignment unit can initiate the parking display mode when the driver commands the parking display mode to start in a state where the vehicle is moving forward. In this case, the control unit may include a parking display determination unit that determines whether the driver has ordered the start of the parking display mode, and furthermore, the control device may include an actuation unit, such as a mechanical button, a button on a touch screen, or a switch, for the driver to order the start of the parking display mode.
[0063] The control unit 16 includes a first image acquisition unit 23 configured to acquire the first image captured by the rear imaging unit 11. The control unit 16 includes a second image generation unit 24 configured to generate the second image. The second image generation unit 24 can generate the second image based on information obtained by the information gathering unit 19. For example, in a case where the second image is an aerial image, an image in which at least one of the vehicle-related details and information relating to the vehicle's periphery is indicated by characters, symbols, illustrations, and / or the like, the second image generation unit 24 can generate the second image in this way.
[0064] The control unit 16 includes a second image acquisition unit 25 configured to acquire the second image generated by the second image generation unit 24. However, the second image acquisition unit is not limited to this. For example, if the second image is captured by an imaging unit other than the rear imaging unit 11 described above, the second image acquisition unit can be configured to acquire the second image captured by such a different imaging unit.
[0065] The control unit 16 includes a parking zone specification unit 26 configured to be able to specify the parking zone P in which the vehicle 1 is parked and the outer edge line PI of the parking zone P on the first image acquired by the first image acquisition unit 23. The outer edge line PI of the parking zone P is defined along the ground surface G. For example, the parking zone specification unit Function 26 can recognize a parking space, such as a white line drawn on the ground surface G in the first image, or similar, and can specify the parking zone P and the outer edge line PI of the parking zone P based on the parking space. However, the method by which the parking zone specification unit specifies the parking zone and the outer edge line of the parking zone is not limited to this.
[0066] The control unit 16 may include a parking zone assignment unit 27 configured to be able to display the outer edge line PI of the parking zone P specified by the parking zone specification unit 26 with a schematic line on the first section Dl. In [Fig. 4] to 7, by way of example, a state in which the outer edge line PI of the parking zone P is displayed by a dashed line on the first section Dl is illustrated.
[0067] As illustrated in [Fig. 3], the control unit 16 includes a planned travel zone specification unit 28 configured to be able to specify the planned travel zone Q in which the vehicle 1 is to move and the outer edge line Q1 of the planned travel zone Q in the first image. The outer edge line Q1 of the planned travel zone Q is defined along the ground surface G. In the case of a turn, the planned travel zone Q and its outer edge line Q1 can be specified based on the steering angle and vehicle speed of the vehicle 1 at the present moment, i.e., at the moment when the planned travel zone Q and its outer edge line Q1 are to be specified. In the case of making a turn, the planned movement area Q and the outer edge line Q1 of it can also be specified on the basis of a calculation by an automatic driving system or an automatic parking system which can be installed in the vehicle 1.
[0068] The control unit 16 may include a planned displacement zone assignment unit 29 configured to be able to display the outer edge line Q1 of the planned displacement zone Q specified by the planned displacement zone specification unit 28 with a schematic line on the first section DL. In [Fig. 4] to 7, by way of example, a state in which the outer edge line Q1 of the planned displacement zone Q is displayed by a dashed line at a point on the first section DL is illustrated.
[0069] As illustrated in [Fig. 3], the control unit 16 includes an obstacle specification unit 30 configured to be able to specify the obstacle R positioned below the predetermined obstacle distance L from the vehicle 1 and an outer edge line RI of the obstacle R in the first image. The outer edge line RI of the obstacle R is defined along the ground surface G.
[0070] The control unit 16 may include an obstacle assignment unit 31 configured to be able to display the outer edge line RI of the obstacle R specified by the obstacle specification unit 30 with a schematic line on the first section Dl. In [Fig.4] to 7, as an example, a state in which the outer edge line RI of the obstacle R is displayed by a thick line on the first section Dl is illustrated.
[0071] The distance to the obstacle L described above may be equal to or less than a distance at which the obstacle R can be detected by the front or rear sonar sensors 17 and 18. Furthermore, the distance to the obstacle L may be greater than 0 (zero) m (meters). However, the distance to the obstacle is not limited to this.
[0072] As illustrated in [Fig. 3], the control unit 16 comprises a first image projection unit 32 configured to display the first image in the first section D1 and a second image projection unit 33 configured to display the second image acquired by the second image acquisition unit 25 in the second sections D2. The parking zone avoidance unit 37a performs an adjustment to display the second section D2 on the display unit 15 such that the second section D2 is away from the outer edge line PI of the parking zone P. In addition, the parking zone avoidance unit 37a can perform an adjustment to display the second section D2 in a position furthest from the outer edge line PI of the parking zone P in a state in which the size of the second section D2 is set constant, on the display unit 15.In addition, the parking zone avoidance unit 37a can perform. an adjustment to display the second section D2 in a position where the maximum size is possible in a state in which the second shortest distance H2 between the second section D2 and the outer edge line PI of the parking area P is set constant, on the display unit 15.
[0075] The second section position adjustment unit 37 includes a planned movement zone avoidance unit 37b that performs an adjustment to display the second section D2 on the display unit 15 on the side opposite the position of the vehicle 1 relative to the outer edge line Q1 of the planned movement zone Q. The planned movement zone avoidance unit 37b performs an adjustment to display the second section D2 on the display unit 15 such that the second section D2 is far from the outer edge line Q1 of the planned movement zone Q. Furthermore, the planned movement zone avoidance unit 37b can perform an adjustment to display the second section D2 in a position furthest from the outer edge line Q1 of the planned movement zone Q in a state where the size of the second section D2 is set constant, on the display unit 15.Furthermore, the planned displacement zone avoidance unit 37b can make an adjustment so as to display the second section D2 in a position where the maximum size is possible in a state in which the second shortest distance H2 between the second section D2 and the outer edge line Q1 of the planned displacement zone Q is set constant, on the display unit 15.
[0076] The second section position adjustment unit 37 includes an obstacle avoidance unit 37c which performs an adjustment to display the second section D2 on the display unit 15 on the side opposite the position of the vehicle 1 relative to the outer edge line RI of the obstacle R. The obstacle avoidance unit 37c performs an adjustment to display the second section D2 on the display unit 15 such that the second section D2 is away from the outer edge line RI of the obstacle R. In addition, the obstacle avoidance unit 37c can perform an adjustment to display the second section D2 in a position furthest from the outer edge line RI of the obstacle R in a state in which the size of the second section D2 is set constant, on the display unit 15.Furthermore, the obstacle avoidance unit 37c can make an adjustment so as to display the second section D2 in a position where the maximum size is possible in a state in which the first shortest distance H1 between the second section D2 and the outer edge line RI of the obstacle R is set constant, on the display unit 15.
[0077] Furthermore, in the control unit 16, in a case where the second section D2 on the display unit 15 is displayed on the side opposite to the position of the vehicle 1 by in relation to the outer edge line PI of the parking area P or the outer edge line Q1 of the planned travel area Q, and to the outer edge line RI of the obstacle R in the first section D1, and in which the parking area P or the planned travel area Q is offset from the obstacle R in the direction of travel of vehicle 1 and in the direction of the width of the vehicle, the obstacle avoidance unit 37c may define that the first shortest distance H1 between the second section D2 and the outer edge line RI of the obstacle R is greater than the second shortest distance H2 between the second section D2 and the outer edge line Q1 of the parking area P or the outer edge line PI of the planned travel area Q.However, in such a case, instead of the obstacle avoidance unit, the parking zone avoidance unit or the planned movement zone avoidance unit may define that the second shortest distance is less than the first shortest distance.
[0078] The control unit 16 includes a first section display assignment unit 38 configured to display the first section D1 on the display unit 15, and a second section display assignment unit 39 configured to display the second section D2 defined as described above on the display unit 15.

[0080] Method for controlling the display control device
[0081] An example of the method for controlling the display control device 10 according to the present embodiment is described with reference to [Fig. 8]. An example of the control method described here is applied to a case in which the vehicle 1 is moving backward. However, the present invention is not limited to this, and such a control method can also be applied to a case in which the vehicle is moving forward.
[0082] First, the control device 10 is in an initial state other than the parking display mode (step SI). It is determined whether or not the vehicle 1 is reversing (step S2). In the case where the vehicle 1 is not reversing (NO), the control device 10 is maintained in the initial state (step SI).
[0083] If vehicle 1 reverses (YES), the control device 10 switches from its initial state to parking display mode (step S3). The first image is acquired via the rear imaging unit 11 (step S4). A second image, different from the first, is acquired (step S5). The size and position of the first DI section for displaying the first image are defined (step S6). In one example, the first DI section can be defined to be displayed on the entire display unit 15. The outer edge line PI of the parking zone P or the outer edge line Q1 of the planned movement zone Q is specified in the first image (step S7). The outer edge line RI of the obstacle R is specified in the first image (step S8).
[0084] The size and position of the second section D2 are defined so as to display the second section D2 to show the second image on the side opposite the position of vehicle 1 relative to the outer edge line PI of the parking zone P or the outer edge line Q1 of the planned movement zone Q, and the outer edge line RI of the obstacle R shown in the first section DI (step S9). At this point, fundamentally, the second section D2 can be defined in a position furthest from the outer edge line PI of the parking zone P or the outer edge line Q1 of the planned movement zone Q or the outer edge line RI of the obstacle R in a state in which the size of the second section D2 is defined as constant. The second section D2 on the display unit 15 is away from the outer edge line PI of the parking area P or the outer edge line Q1 of the planned travel area Q, and from the outer edge line RI of the obstacle R. Simultaneously, in a case in which the parking area P or the planned travel area Q are offset from the obstacle R in the direction of travel of the vehicle 15 and in the direction of the width of the vehicle, the first shortest distance H1 between the second section. D2 and the outer edge line RI of the obstacle R may be greater than the second shortest distance H2 between the second section D2 and the outer edge line PI of the parking area P or the outer edge line Q1 of the planned movement area Q. The first and second sections DI and D2 are then displayed on the display unit 15 based on the definitions described so far (step S10).
[0085] As described above, in the display control device 10 according to the present embodiment, in relation to the first section DI to show the first image, the second section D2 to show the second image different from the first image is displayed in the region opposite the vehicle 1 with respect to the outer edge line PI of the parking area P or the outer edge line Q1 of the planned movement area Q of the first section D1, on the display unit 15.Here, when vehicle 1 is parked, the region opposite vehicle 1 with respect to the outer edge line PI of the parking area P of the first section Dl which displays the travel area A of vehicle 1 needs less confirmation from the driver than the region on the side of vehicle 1 with respect to the outer edge line PI of the parking area P of the first section Dl, and when vehicle 1 is moving, the region opposite vehicle 1 with respect to the outer edge line Q1 of the planned travel area Q of the first section Dl needs less confirmation from the driver than the region on the side of vehicle 1 with respect to the outer edge line Q1 of the planned travel area Q of the first section Dl.On the other hand, according to the control device 10, on the display unit 15, while preventing the second section D2 from obscuring the region requiring significant driver confirmation, it is possible to appropriately display the second section D2 in the region requiring less driver confirmation. Consequently, on the display unit 15, which is capable of displaying at least two sections, in particular the first and second sections D1 and D2, each section, in particular each of the sections D1 and D2, can be appropriately displayed according to the driver's needs.
[0086] In the display control device 10 according to this embodiment, the display unit 15 displays the second section D2 such that the second section D2 is away from the outer edge line PI of the parking zone P or the outer edge line Q1 of the planned movement zone Q. Therefore, the second section D2 can be displayed appropriately so as to be sufficiently far from the parking zone P or the planned movement zone Q of the first section D1 which strongly needs to be confirmed by the driver so as not to hinder the driver's confirmation.
[0087] In the display control device 10 according to this embodiment, The outer edge line RI of obstacle R, positioned below the predetermined distance L to the obstacle from vehicle 1, is specified in the first image. The second section D2 on display unit 15 is shown on the side opposite the position of vehicle 1 relative to the outer edge line RI of obstacle R shown in the first section D1. Here, the region opposite vehicle 1 relative to the outer edge line RI of obstacle R in the first section D1 requires less confirmation from the driver when vehicle 1 is parked or moving than the region on the side of vehicle 1 relative to the outer edge line RI of obstacle R in the first section D1.On the other hand, according to the control device 10, on the display unit 15, while preventing the second section D2 from obscuring the region that strongly requires confirmation from the driver, it is possible to appropriately display the second section D2 in the region that requires less confirmation from the driver.
[0088] In the display control device 10 according to this embodiment, in a case where the second section D2 on the display unit 15 is displayed so as to be away from the outer edge line PI of the parking area P or the outer edge line Q1 of the planned movement area Q, and from the outer edge line RI of the obstacle R, and the parking area P or the planned movement area Q are offset from the obstacle R in the direction of movement of the vehicle 1 and in the direction of the width of the vehicle, the first shortest distance H1 between the second section D2 and the outer edge line RI of the obstacle R is defined to be greater than the second shortest distance H2 between the second section D2 and the outer edge line PI of the parking area P or the outer edge line Q1 of the planned movement area Q.Here, preventing vehicle 1 from contacting the obstacle when vehicle 1 is parked or moving is more important than preventing vehicle 1 from moving in the region opposite vehicle 1 to the outer edge line PI of the parking zone P or the outer edge line Q1 of the planned movement zone Q of the first section D1. Furthermore, depending on the control device 10, on the display 15, the visibility of the obstacle R can be made greater than the visibility of the parking zone P or the planned movement zone Q, and the driver can more easily confirm the obstacle R than the parking zone P or the planned movement zone Q.In other words, on display unit 15, while preventing the second section D2 from obscuring the area that strongly needs driver confirmation, it is possible to appropriately display the second section D2 in the region that needs less driver confirmation.
[0090] The display control device according to a second embodiment is described.
[0091] Outline of the display control device
[0092] A display control device 40 according to this embodiment is described with reference to [Fig.9] to 11. In this embodiment, the display control device 40 according to this embodiment is applied to the vehicle 1 instead of the display control device 10 according to the first embodiment.
[0093] As illustrated in [Fig. 9], the control device 40 also includes a control unit 41 configured to control the display unit 15 so as to display, on the display unit 15, a first section E1 to show the first image based on the first information, and a second section E2 to show the second image based on second information that differs from the first information. The first information is information (hereinafter referred to as "host vehicle information," if applicable) about the vehicle 1 itself or information (hereinafter referred to as "peripheral information," if applicable) about the vehicle 1. The importance of the second information is less than the importance of the first information. The control unit 41 is installed in the vehicle 1 instead of the control unit 16 according to the first embodiment. In addition to the control unit according to the first embodiment, the control unit of the control device according to this embodiment can also be installed in the vehicle.
[0094] By way of example, in the same way as the control unit 16 according to the first embodiment, the control unit 41 can be configured to include: electronic components, such as a central processing unit (CPU), random access memory (RAM), read-only memory (ROM), flash memory, an input interface and an output interface; and an electrical circuit in which the electronic components are arranged. However, the imaging unit is not limited to this.
[0095] Furthermore, as illustrated in [Fig. 10] and 11, in a case where the first section El is arranged so as to be away from the second section E2, the control unit 41 is configured to define a third shortest distance I between the first and second sections El and E2 according to a difference in importance between the first and second pieces of information. The control unit 41 can also be configured so that the shortest distance I between the first and second sections El and E2 increases as the difference in importance between the first and second pieces of information increases. In [Fig. 10] and 11, a contour of the first section El is indicated by a broken line, and the outline of the second section E2 is indicated by a thick line. In [Fig. 10] and 11, the direction of movement of vehicle 1 on display unit 15, i.e. forward, is indicated by an arrow Av, and the direction of the width of the vehicle on display unit 15 is indicated by an arrow W.
[0096] Details of the display control device
[0097] Details of the display control device 40 according to the present embodiment are described with reference to [Fig.9] to 11. As illustrated in [Fig. 10] and 11, the control device 40 can be configured to display information from an on-board device providing information, such as an automotive navigation device or similar.
[0098] Here, with regard to the initial information, the host vehicle information is information about the speed of vehicle 1, information about the gear ratio of vehicle 1, and / or the like. Furthermore, the peripheral information described above is information about road signs, route guidance information, path information, and / or the like. Path information includes information about the path itself, information about other vehicles moving around vehicle 1, information about a vehicle that has broken down or been in an accident, information about obstacles, and / or the like. The second type of information is traffic information (e.g., information on traffic jams, information on the presence of a broken-down or wrecked vehicle, or disaster forecast information), weather information, time information, and / or similar information.
[0099] The importance of the information can be weighted based on the perspective of the safety of the movement of vehicle 1. In particular, the importance of the information can be weighted based on the perspective of the safety of the movement of vehicle 1 and the urgency of the information required for safe movement. By way of example, the importance of the information described above can be defined to decrease in the following order: information on speed of travel, information on road signs, information on gear ratio, information on route, road guidance information, traffic information, weather information, and time information.Furthermore, the importance of route information can be defined to decrease in the following order: information about obstacles, information about other vehicles, information about a broken-down or damaged vehicle, and information about the route itself. The importance of traffic information can be defined to decrease in order from disaster prediction information, information about the presence of a broken-down or damaged vehicle, and other information. related to a traffic jam. In this case, the difference in importance between information on travel speed and time information is greater than the difference in importance between information on road signs and disaster forecast information. However, the importance of information is not limited to this.
[0100] The plurality of first images is displayed continuously in the first section E1. The plurality of second images is displayed continuously in the second section E2. The first and second images respectively indicate the first and second pieces of information, in which at least one piece of information relating to the vehicle and information about the vehicle's periphery is indicated by characters, symbols, illustrations, photographs, and / or the like. However, the first and second images are not limited to these. For example, the first or second image may be the same as the first or second image according to the first embodiment.
[0101] Next, as illustrated in [Fig. 9], in the same manner as in the first embodiment, the control device 40 comprises the rear and front imaging units 11 and 12 and the display unit 15. The control device 40 comprises a rear millimeter-wave radar 42 instead of the rear sonar sensor 17 of the first embodiment, and the control device 40 also comprises a front millimeter-wave radar 43 instead of the front sonar sensor 18 of the first embodiment. In the present embodiment, the direction of travel of vehicle 1 is the forward direction of vehicle 1. In other words, the front region positioned at the front of vehicle 1 is the travel region A positioned on the side of the direction of travel of vehicle 1.Therefore, when vehicle 1 moves forward, the front imaging unit 12 captures the movement region A, and furthermore, the front millimeter-wave radar 43 detects the obstacle R in the movement region A and specifies the position of the obstacle R in the movement region A relative to vehicle 1. However, the present invention is not limited to this, and the rear region can also be a movement region. In this case, the direction of travel of the vehicle is the direction of reverse, and when the vehicle is moving in reverse, the rear imaging unit captures the movement region and the rear millimeter-wave radar detects the obstacle in the movement region and specifies the position of the obstacle in the movement region relative to the vehicle.
[0102] In addition, the control device 40 includes an information gathering unit 44 comprising the rear and front imaging units 11 and 12, the left and right imaging units 13 and 14, and the rear and front millimeter-wave radars 42 and 43. [0109] The control unit 41 includes a section position setting unit 61 configured to set the positions of the first and second sections El and E2 on the display unit 15. In a case in which the first section El is arranged to be away from the second section E2 around the second section E2, the section position setting unit 61 includes a first importance calculation unit 61a which calculates the importance of the first information on the first image shown in the first section El, and a second importance calculation unit 61b which calculates the importance of the second information on the second image shown in the second section E2.The section position adjustment unit 61 includes an importance difference calculation unit 61c configured to calculate the importance difference between the first and second information calculated by the first and second importance calculation units 61a and 61b, respectively.
[0110] The section position adjustment unit 61 includes a shortest distance calculation unit 61d configured to calculate the shortest distance I between the first and second sections El and E2 according to the difference in importance between the first and second pieces of information calculated by the difference in importance calculation unit 61c. In particular, the shortest distance calculation unit 61d can define that the shortest distance I between the first and second sections El and E2 increases as the difference in importance between the first and second pieces of information increases. At the same time, the shortest distance calculation unit 61d can define that the shortest distance I between the first and second sections El and E2 decreases so as not to fall below a predetermined lower limit of the shortest distance I as the difference in importance between the first and second pieces of information decreases.Furthermore, the lower limit of the shortest distance I can be greater than 0 (zero) mm. [0112] Method for controlling the display control device
[0113] An example of the method for controlling the display control device 40 The following steps are described in the present embodiment with reference to [Fig. 12]. First, the control device 40 is in an initial state other than navigation mode (step SI 1). It is determined whether the driver has initiated navigation mode (step S12). If the driver does not initiate navigation mode (NO), the control device 40 remains in its initial state (step SI 1).
[0114] In a case where the driver commands the start of navigation mode (YES), the control device 40 switches from the initial state to navigation mode (step S13). The first image, based on the first information, is acquired (step S14). The second image, based on second information different from the first information, is acquired (step S15). In a case where the first section E1, used to display the first image, is positioned to be away from the second section E2, used to display the second image, the difference in importance between the first and second information in the first and second images is calculated, respectively (step S16).The shortest distance I between the first and second sections El and E2, within which the first and second images are respectively shown, is established according to the difference in importance between the first and second pieces of information (step S17). At this point, the shortest distance I between the first and second sections El and E2 can be defined so as to increase as the difference in importance between the first and second pieces of information increases. Based on this definition, the first and second sections El and E2 are displayed on the display unit 15 (step S18).
[0115] As described above, in the display control device 40 according to this embodiment, the first section E1, which displays the first image based on the initial information (information about the vehicle 1 itself or information about the periphery of the vehicle 1), is positioned so as to be separated from the second section E2, which displays the second image based on the second piece of information. This second piece of information is different from the initial information and less important than the initial information, depending on the difference in importance between the first and second pieces of information. Therefore, the relative position of the first and second sections E1 and E2 can be appropriately defined so that the driver can easily see them.In particular, the first section El, relating to the initial information which is more important than the secondary information, can be displayed appropriately so that the driver can easily see it. Consequently, on the display unit 15 capable of displaying at least two sections, in particular, the first and second sections El and E2, each section, in particular, each of the sections El and E2, can be displayed. in an appropriate manner according to the driver's needs.
[0116] In the display control device 40 according to the present embodiment, as the difference in importance between the first and second pieces of information increases, the first section E1, which shows the first pieces of information that are more important than the second pieces of information, is displayed so as to be substantially far from the second section E2. Consequently, the first section E1 can be displayed appropriately so that the driver can easily see it.
[0117] Although embodiments of the present invention have been described so far, the present invention is not limited to the embodiments described above, and the present invention can be modified and changed on the basis of the technical idea thereof. List of reference signs
