Description

Title of the invention: Cover for securing a safety barrier

[0001] The invention relates to a safety cover for a safety barrier. It also relates to an assembly formed from a safety barrier equipped with such a safety cover.

[0002] Document FR 2 516 565 describes a signaling cover adapted to a safety barrier. The signaling cover is mainly made up of a tarpaulin forming two panels which hang on either side of the safety barrier on which the tarpaulin rests. The panels extend vertically along the safety barrier up to above the feet of the latter. The tarpaulin has longitudinal edges provided with eyelets arranged opposite each other in each of the panels. A means for holding the panels comprises a tie and / or pins which are engaged in the eyelets to bring the panels together. One and / or the other of the panels is equipped with a signal useful for people moving near the safety barrier.

[0003] A first disadvantage inherent in this signaling cover comes from the fact that the means of holding the panels together, using a link or pins associated with the eyelets, is fragile and is liable to be broken, particularly during severe weather conditions, such as strong winds, or by malicious passers-by.

[0004] A second disadvantage inherent in this signaling cover lies in the fact that the signaling cover leaves the feet of the safety barrier visible, which form obstacles and / or hindrances to passers-by as well as to cyclists traveling along the safety barriers. It should be remembered that during cycling sports competitions, for example, the riders set off at high speed and the slightest obstacle or hindrance can cause serious falls for their personal safety and / or that of the spectators, with tragic consequences.

[0005] There is therefore a need for a safety cover for a safety barrier which is simple, easy to produce and easy to install on a safety barrier, such a safety cover offering optimized safety to passers-by or cyclists traveling near the safety barrier, to avoid any incident or accident linked to the presence of the safety barrier on a sports course or the like, such a safety cover being able to adapt easily and quickly to any safety barrier.

[0006] The present invention falls within this context and provides a safety cover intended to equip a safety barrier. The safety cover comprises a enclosure intended to house a safety barrier palisade. The enclosure is delimited by at least two longitudinal faces forming a first angle between them.

[0007] According to the present invention, the safety cover comprises a skirt intended to house a base of the safety barrier, the skirt being delimited by at least two longitudinal walls forming between them a second angle which is strictly greater than the first angle.

[0008] The safety cover comprises at least one of the following features taken alone or in combination:

[0009] - the second angle is between 1.5 times and 2.5 times the first angle,

[0010] - the first angle is zero.

[0011] - the first angle is of the order of 20° to + / - 10%,

[0012] - the enclosure is delimited by two lateral faces each provided with at least one hole for the passage of fixing members from one safety barrier to another safety barrier,

[0013] - the skirt houses a frame constituting a ballast for the safety cover,

[0014] - the safety cover is equipped with a housing which includes a location sensor lization in relation to a geolocation system,

[0015] - the safety cover is made of polyurethane.

[0016] - the safety cover is provided with a window fitted with a removable shutter,

[0017] - the enclosure is delimited by an upper face provided with a retaining loop intended to enclose a higher amount of the safety barrier,

[0018] - the securing cover is provided with at least one strap for adjusting the position longitudinal walls and / or longitudinal faces between them.

[0019] The present invention also relates to an assembly formed from a safety barrier which is equipped with such a safety cover, the safety cover comprising an enclosure housing a palisade of the safety barrier and the safety cover comprising a skirt housing a base of the safety barrier.

[0020] The invention and the advantages resulting therefrom will be better understood upon reading the description and the non-limiting embodiments which follow, with regard to the appended figures in which:

[0021] [Fig-1] represents a safety barrier equipped with a safety cover according to the present invention.

[0022] [Fig.2] represents in perspective the safety cover illustrated in [Fig. 1].

[0023] [Fig.3] shows a side view of the safety cover illustrated in figures 1 and 2.

[0024] In [Fig.l], a safety barrier 100 is equipped with a safety cover 1 according to the present invention, the safety cover 1 being illustrated in a transparent manner to better explain the invention.

[0025] The safety barrier 100 comprises a palisade 101 which is provided with a base 102 resting on the ground and supporting the palisade 101. The palisade 101 is commonly flat. The palisade 101 is commonly 2 meters long and 1.04 meters high. The palisade 101 comprises a tubular frame 103 inside which tubular spacers 104 are arranged parallel to each other. The tubular spacers 104 are regularly fourteen in number. The tubular frame 103 comprises an upper upright 105 which is arranged opposite a lower upright 106 carrying the base 102. The tubular frame 103 also comprises two lateral uprights 107, 108, including a first lateral upright 107 provided with first fixing members 107a and a second lateral upright 108 provided with second fixing members 108a.The fixing members 107a, 108a are arranged to cooperate with each other in order to connect two adjacent safety barriers 100 together and thus form a safety line. The base 102 is for example formed of two pairs of feet 109 which ensure that the safety barrier 100 is held in position.

[0026] The safety cover 1 comprises an enclosure 2 extended by a skirt 3. The enclosure 2 is intended to house the fence 101 while the skirt 3 is intended to house the base 102. In other words, in the position of use, the enclosure 2 overhangs the skirt 3.

[0027] The enclosure 2 comprises an upper face 4 which is intended to be placed on the upper upright 105. The enclosure 2 also comprises two lateral faces 5, 6, including a first lateral face 5 intended to adjoin the first lateral upright 107 and a second lateral face 6 intended to adjoin the second lateral upright 108, the two lateral faces 5, 6 being arranged opposite each other. The enclosure 2 also comprises two longitudinal faces 7, 8 which are arranged opposite each other and between which the tubular spacers 104 are interposed. Each longitudinal face 7, 8 is bordered by the two lateral faces 5, 6 and the upper face 4.

[0028] The enclosure 2 is generally parallelepipedal in shape and delimits an internal volume 9 which is intended to house the tubular frame 103. The enclosure 2 comprises an opening 10 which is arranged opposite the upper face 4 and which is delimited by a periphery 11 which forms a lower edge of the enclosure 2. This periphery 11 successively constitutes a first longitudinal face 7, then a first lateral face 6, then a second longitudinal face 8, then a second lateral face 5.

[0029] The periphery 11 carries the skirt 3 which is of a flared conformation. It is understood that the skirt 3 extends the faces 5, 6, 7, 8 of the enclosure 2. More particularly, the skirt 3 is arranged in a flared sleeve which extends from the periphery 11 up to a lower edge 12. It is noted that a first length L1 of the perimeter 11 is strictly less than a second length L2 of the lower edge 12. Preferably, the second length L2 is between 1.2 times and 1.5 times the first length L1, and preferably between 1.3 and 1.4 times the first length L1. Furthermore, the skirt 3 has a first height H1 taken between the perimeter 11 and the lower edge 12 which is of the order of a second height H2 of the base 102 taken between the lower upright 106 and a foot end 109a resting on the ground.

[0030] These arrangements are such that the skirt 3 protects passers-by and / or cyclists who might brush against the safety barrier 100 and prevents them from getting caught in or hitting the base 102 of the safety barrier 100. In addition, the skirt 3 forms an envelope of the base 102 and materializes the latter over larger dimensions, which makes it more visible than in the absence of the skirt 3 and therefore easier for a cyclist or passer-by to avoid. It is understood in particular that if the safety cover 1 is made in a bright color, particularly red, or fluorescent, such signaling is even more effective. This ultimately results in better protection for passers-by and cyclists by preventing them from potentially serious falls.

[0031] The safety cover 1 is commonly made of a flexible material, polyurethane in particular, or a similar material.

[0032] In [Fig.2], the lateral faces 5, 6 are each provided with at least one orifice 13 for the passage of the fixing members 107a, 108a through the securing cover 1.

[0033] The skirt 3 comprises two side walls 14, 15 which are arranged in the respective extension of the side faces 5, 6. The skirt 3 also comprises two longitudinal walls 16, 17 which are arranged in the extension of the longitudinal faces 7, 8. In other words, a first longitudinal wall 16 of the skirt 3 extends the first longitudinal face 7 of the enclosure 2, a first side wall 15 of the skirt 3 extends the first side face 6 of the enclosure 2, a second longitudinal wall 17 of the skirt 3 extends the second longitudinal face 8 of the enclosure 2, and a second side wall 14 of the skirt 3 extends the second side face 5 of the enclosure 2.

[0034] In [Fig. 3] which represents the safety cover 1 seen from the side, it is noted that the longitudinal faces 7, 8 of the enclosure 2 form between them a first angle a which is strictly less than a second angle [3 formed by the longitudinal walls 16, 17 of the skirt 3. More particularly, the second angle [3 is between 1.5 times and 2.5 times the first angle a. The first angle a is for example of the order of 20°, to within plus or minus 10%. These arrangements facilitate the installation of the safety cover securing 1 on the safety barrier 100 as well as the removal of the securing cover 1. In the particular case where the first angle a is zero, the longitudinal faces 7, 8 are parallel and the longitudinal walls 16, 17 are inscribed in respective intersecting planes.

[0035] According to a preferred embodiment, the first longitudinal face 7 is coplanar with the first longitudinal wall 16. More preferably, the first longitudinal face 7 and the first longitudinal wall 16 jointly comprise a window 18 which is provided with a removable flap 19, for example secured by self-gripping means or the like. Such a removable flap 19 is for example covered with an inscription of the advertising, signage or the like type. This flap 19 can be changed and adapted to each event during which the safety cover is used on the safety barrier.

[0036] A retaining loop 20 is secured to the upper face 4 by being housed inside the internal volume 9 delimited by the enclosure 2. The retaining loop has the function of securing the safety cover 1 with the upper upright 103 of the safety barrier 100.

[0037] Preferably, the skirt 3 houses a frame 21, preferably of triangular section, which constitutes a ballast for the safety cover 1. More preferably, the frame 21 extends from one of the side walls 14, 15 to the other of the side walls 14, 15. The frame 21 is indifferently a metal ballast or an inflatable tube.

[0038] It is also noted that the safety cover 1 is equipped with a housing 22 which includes a location sensor 23 in connection with a geolocation system 24 which facilitates the location and installation of the safety covers 1.

[0039] It is also noted that the securing cover 1 is provided with at least one strap 25a, 25b for adjusting the position of the longitudinal walls 16, 17 and / or the longitudinal faces 7, 8 between them. In other words, a first strap 25a of variable length connects the longitudinal walls 16, 17 of the skirt 3 to adapt the latter to the base 102 that the skirt 3 envelops and protects. In other words, a second strap 25b of variable length connects the longitudinal faces 7, 8 of the enclosure 2 to adapt the latter to the palisade 101 that the enclosure 2 envelops and protects.
