Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: MOTOR VEHICLE PASSENGER SEAT COMPRISING AN INTEGRATED CHILD SEAT
[0001] The invention relates, in general, to the field of child seats on board motor vehicles and is more particularly concerned with seats of the so-called "Group 0" type which are suitable for babies and young children from birth up to a weight of 18 kg.
[0002] These mobile and portable seats are available on the consumer market and are brought and installed in the vehicle by the driver or adult passengers supervising the child. In general, they are secured to the rear row of the vehicle using the seat belt, in the rear-facing or forward-facing position, depending on the model and the weight of the child. The child is also held in the seat by an adjustable safety harness to ensure optimum safety during the journey.
[0003] However, these seats are equipped with different installation systems which are specific to each manufacturer. However, even if they must all meet strict approval standards, these seats do not necessarily provide the same level of safety because users may not be able to understand the various mounting methods and therefore make harmful installation errors in the vehicle.
[0004] Furthermore, these seats are bulky and, when not in immediate use, their storage and transport are problematic because the trunk or passenger compartment of light vehicles does not always have the volume available to accommodate them.
[0005] Child seats already exist that are directly integrated into vehicles. For example, patent application WO2007 / 082686 describes a child seat integrated into the backrest and seat of an adult passenger seat. It can be removed from the seat by means of an articulated, angled arm and positioned by orienting the backrest of the child seat opposite the backrest of the passenger seat.
[0006] Furthermore, patent FR3087164 describes a child seat which is integrated into the backrest and / or the seat of an adult passenger seat and which deploys in different orientations. However, the backrest of this child seat is inflatable, which requires the provision of appropriate additional means to finalize its installation. In addition, the internal pressure of the seat can vary over time depending on various parameters (temperature, etc.), which poses problems of rigidity and therefore of safety.
[0007] In this context, the invention aims to propose a simple and economical technical solution making it possible to overcome the problems and compensate for the shortcomings of existing child seats by means of an improved seat structure, retractable and unfoldable, embedded in the seat of the rear row of passengers in the passenger compartment of a vehicle.
[0008] This object is achieved, according to the invention, by means of a motor vehicle passenger seat formed of a seat and a backrest and intended to receive a retractable child seat which comprises, on the one hand, a base delimited by lateral pads and, on the other hand, a backrest flanked by longitudinal padding, characterized in that said seat comprises a lower cavity formed in the seat and an upper cavity formed in the backrest, said lower and upper cavities being intended, in the retracted position of the child seat, to house flush, respectively, its backrest and its base and, in the pivoted position of the child seat forwards and upwards, to receive them at least partially.
[0009] According to an advantageous characteristic of the invention, the passenger seat is provided with a lever mounted in the seat under the lower cavity and intended to lift the backrest of the child seat into the retracted position to initiate its pivoting.
[0010] According to another advantageous characteristic, the passenger seat of the invention comprises at least one reversible locking member for the child seat in the pivoted position cooperating with at least one hook carried by the rear wall of said child seat.
[0011] Preferably, the upper cavity and the lower cavity of the passenger seat are each provided with a locking member forming a stop and cooperating with two hooks carried respectively by the base and the backrest of the child seat.
[0012] According to a specific variant embodiment of the passenger seat of the invention, the integrated child seat pivots 90° by sliding in the upper and lower cavities.
[0013] According to another variant embodiment of the invention, the front part of the backrest of the child seat carries a lifting strap facilitating the manual pivoting of said child seat.
[0014] According to yet another characteristic of the invention, the side pads and the longitudinal padding are articulated on the child seat and are movable between a retracted position where they extend substantially perpendicular to the two seats and a folded position where they extend, in the respective planes of the seat and the back of the passenger seat.
[0015] Another object of the invention is a child seat intended to be integrated into a passenger seat as defined above located in the rear row of a motor vehicle.
[0016] Yet another object of the invention is a motor vehicle provided with at least one passenger seat as defined above for the installation of an integrated child seat.
[0017] Thanks to the invention, the child seat, when not in use, is folded and stored while being completely embedded in the rear seat, thus allowing a passenger to sit normally and comfortably.
[0018] The solution proposed by the invention makes it possible to have a seat permanently available child without the need for the vehicle user to bring one from outside. In addition, this child seat is better wedged and more firmly fixed in the vehicle, which improves safety. Its installation in the use position is quick and very easy manually and can be carried out by a single person.
[0019] Furthermore, the passenger seat of the invention incorporating a child seat as an additional option can be a selling point for the vehicle and can also present a commercial advantage for vehicles intended for rental.
[0020] Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will emerge on reading the description which follows, with reference to the appended figures, for which:

[0027] For clarity, identical or similar elements are identified by identical reference signs in the description and in the figures.
[0028] Naturally, the embodiment of the seat of the invention illustrated schematically by the figures presented above and described below, is given only as a non-limiting example. It is explicitly provided within the scope of the invention that different modes can be proposed and combined with each other to propose others.
[0029] Generally speaking, the invention relates to a passenger seat of a motor vehicle and is more particularly concerned with a rear row seat capable of and intended to integrate a child seat.
[0030] Traditionally and as illustrated by [Fig.l], the passenger seats P of a vehicle are formed, in particular, of a seat A and a backrest D joined together to sometimes form a bench seat. Such seats are mounted mainly on the rear row of the passenger compartment and are designed to support one or more seats intended for the transport of young children.
[0031] These child seats S are mobile and portable and are brought and introduced into the vehicle and then installed on a passenger seat by a vehicle user who supervises the child. Child seats, which are called group 0, are specifically adapted for babies and toddlers from birth up to a weight of 18 kg-
[0032] Such child seats S comprise, on the one hand, a base 1 delimited by lateral pads 11, 12 and, on the other hand, a backrest 2 flanked by longitudinal paddings 21, 22, as illustrated, in particular, by figures 1 and 2.
[0033] The invention aims to simplify the safe transport of children in motor vehicles by proposing a technical solution consisting of permanently integrating a retractable child seat belonging, in particular, to group 0.
[0034] For this purpose, the passenger seat P comprises an upper cavity C1 formed in the backrest D and a lower cavity C2 formed in the seat A. These upper cavities C1 and lower C2 are intended, in the retracted position of the child seat S, to house flush, respectively, its backrest 2 and its base 1 and, in the pivoted position of the child seat forwards and upwards, to receive them at least partially, as illustrated by figures 3 and 5.
[0035] As illustrated by [Fig. 3], the integrated child seat S pivots 90° by sliding in the upper C1 and lower C2 cavities. In order to facilitate the pivoting of the child seat S before the actual removal of a child, the passenger seat P is provided with a lever L, mounted in the seat A under the lower cavity C2, and intended to lift the backrest 2 of the child seat S into the retracted position to initiate its pivoting, as illustrated by [Fig. 5]. At the same time, the front part of the backrest 2 carries a lifting strap 24 facilitating the manual pivoting of the child seat S.
[0036] The side pads 11, 12 and the longitudinal paddings 21, 22 are articulated on the child seat S. Thanks to this articulation, the pads and the paddings are movable between a retracted position where they extend substantially perpendicularly both to the child seat S and to the passenger seat P and a folded position where they extend parallel to the base 1 and to the backrest 2 and in the respective planes of the seat A and the backrest D of the passenger seat P.
[0037] Furthermore, the invention provides that the passenger seat P comprises at least one, and preferably two members X for reversibly locking the child seat S in the pivoted position. These locking members form end-of-travel stops by cooperating with at least one, and preferably for reasons of better mechanical strength, two hooks 13, 23 carried by the rear wall of the child seat and here, respectively, by the base 1 and the backrest 2 of the child seat S. Preferably, these locking members X are mounted in the lower cavity C2 and in the upper cavity C1 of the passenger seat P and are associated with manual unlocking buttons.
[0038] Thus, thanks to the invention, when the user needs the child seat S, he proceeds to its extraction from the passenger seat P by pivoting it upwards and forwards by means of the lever L and the strap 24 to its locking position obtained by cooperation between the members X and the hooks 13, 23. Then, it unfolds the pads 11, 12 and the paddings 21, 22 of the child seat S as illustrated by [Fig.3].
[0039] The straps K of the seat belt being arranged under the base 1 of the child seat S, they are previously released as illustrated in [Fig.6]. The child seat belt K is then fastened to comply with the rules of motor transport in force. The child seat S is then in a stable and secure position as soon as it is in the child configuration.
[0040] Conversely, when the child seat is no longer necessary, the vehicle user or driver can return to a normal rear row configuration, suitable for transporting an adult, by first unlocking the child seat by pressing the buttons provided for this purpose. Then, the user pivots the child seat S downwards and backwards to fit it and store it in the lower cavities C2 and upper C1 of the passenger seat P before sitting down. However, the seat belt K must first be unbuckled before folding the child seat so as not to hinder its pivoting.
