Description

Title of the invention: METHOD FOR ASSEMBLING A SEALING DEVICE FOR AN ELECTRIC MOTOR FOR AUTOMOBILE PROPULSION

[0001] The invention relates to a method of mounting a sealing device for an electric propulsion motor of an automobile.

[0002] It is known to implement a method of mounting a sealing device for an electric motor for the propulsion of an automobile, said motor comprising a stator, said stator comprising a sleeve and a plurality of coils of conductive wire mounted inside said sleeve and having a protruding part extending from said sleeve and forming in axial view within a circle, said motor further comprising said ring-shaped sealing device having a mounting orifice through which it fits said protruding part, said device comprising an annular sealing gasket based on elastomeric material and a molded plastic ring fitted inside said gasket.

[0003] With such an arrangement, the assembly of the sealing device is usually done manually, which is a source of discomfort for production operators.

[0004] In addition, the assembly of the sealing device can prove complex, the mounting hole having to be temporarily enlarged to allow the fitting of said device onto the protruding part.

[0005] The invention aims to overcome these drawbacks.

[0006] To this end, the invention proposes a method for mounting a sealing device for an electric motor for the propulsion of a motor vehicle, said motor comprising a stator, said stator comprising a sleeve and a plurality of coils of conductive wire mounted inside said sleeve and having a protruding portion extending from said sleeve and forming, in axial view, within a circle, said motor further comprising said ring-shaped sealing device having a mounting orifice through which it fits said protruding portion, said device comprising an annular sealing gasket based on an elastomeric material and a molded plastic ring fitted inside said gasket, said ring having at least one opening capable of being enlarged to allow enlargement of said mounting orifice, with stretching of said gasket, to allow mounting of said sealing device, said ring being provided with at least two means of interlocking respectively arranged on either side of said opening, said method comprising the following steps: , - provide a mounting tool for the said device, comprising two bases each provided with at least one means of reciprocal interlocking, said bases being actuable between a nominal configuration where they are brought close to each other and a mounting configuration where they are moved apart from each other, - to fit said device onto said bases in their nominal configuration, each of the fitting means fitting together with a respective reciprocal fitting means, - arrange said bases in a mounting configuration, so as to enlarge said mounting hole, - to perform an axial translation of said bases to fit said protruding part with said device, - to return the said bases to their nominal configuration in order to finalize the assembly of said device, to disengage the said bases of the said device.

[0007] It is specified here that, throughout the description, the term "axial" is taken in reference to the axis of rotation of the motor (reference X on the figures), corresponding in this case to the axis of symmetry of the sleeve.

[0008] With such a process, the assembly of the sealing device is done automatically by means of the assembly tool, which improves the working conditions of production operators.

[0009] In addition, the assembly of the sealing device is facilitated by the temporary enlargement conferred on the mounting orifice when the protruding part is fitted by said device.

[0010] It should also be noted that the elastic nature of the seal allows it to ensure, once retracted after its temporary stretching, the maintenance of said sealing device once mounted.

[0011] According to one embodiment, the ring is presented in two disjointed semi-circular parts held together by the joint receiving them in interlocking, each of said parts being provided with at least two interlocking means, two openings being formed by the junction areas between said parts so that the enlargement of the mounting orifice is done by separating said parts from each other.

[0012] In particular, each of the ring parts is provided with a fitting means on each of its ends, each of the bases being provided with two reciprocal fitting means cooperating with the fitting means of each of said parts.

[0013] According to an alternative embodiment, the ring is in one piece, the opening being formed by an axial slot allowing the enlargement of the mounting orifice by deformation of said ring with opening of said slot, two means of interlocking being respectively provided on either side of said slot.

[0014] According to one embodiment, the interlocking means are in the form of sleeves, the reciprocal interlocking means being in the form of axial rods fitting into said sleeves.

[0015] The invention will be further detailed by describing non-limiting embodiments, and based on the accompanying figures illustrating variants of the invention, in which: [Fig. 1] is a partial schematic axial cross-sectional representation of a motor according to one embodiment, [Fig.2] is a schematic perspective representation of a sealing device being assembled by a tool according to an embodiment.

[0016] A method for mounting a sealing device 8 of an electric motor 1 for the propulsion of a motor vehicle is now described, with reference to the figures, said motor comprising a stator, said stator comprising a sleeve 3 and a plurality of coils 6 of conductive wire mounted inside said sleeve and having a projecting portion 7 extending from said sleeve and forming, in axial view, within a circle, said motor further comprising said ring-shaped sealing device having a mounting hole 14 through which it fits said projecting portion, said device comprising an annular sealing gasket 9 based on elastomeric material and a ring 11 of molded plastic material fitted inside said gasket, said ring having at least one opening 24 capable of being enlarged to allow enlargement of said mounting hole, with stretching of said gasket, to allow mounting of said sealing device, said ring being provided with at least two interlocking means 25 respectively arranged on either side of said opening, said method comprising the following steps: , - provide a mounting tool for said device comprising two bases 26, each provided with at least one means for reciprocal interlocking 27, said bases being actuable between a nominal configuration where they are brought close together and a mounting configuration where they are moved apart, - to fit said device onto said bases in their nominal configuration, each of the fitting means 25 fitting together with a respective reciprocal fitting means 27, - arrange said bases in a mounting configuration, so as to enlarge said mounting hole, - to perform an axial translation of said bases to fit said protruding part with said device, - to return the said bases to their nominal configuration in order to finalize the assembly of said device, - to detach the said bases of said device.

[0017] According to the embodiment shown in [Fig.2], the ring 11 is presented in two disjointed semi-circular parts 11a, 11b held together by the joint 9 receiving them in a fit, each of said parts being provided with at least two means of fitting 25, two openings 24 being formed by the junction areas between said parts so that the enlargement of the mounting orifice 14 is done by separating said parts from each other.

[0018] In particular, each of the ring parts 1la, 11b is provided with a fitting means 25 on each of its ends 15, each of the bases 26 being provided with two reciprocal fitting means 27 cooperating with the fitting means 25 of each of said parts.

[0019] According to an alternative embodiment not shown, the ring 11 is in one part, the opening 24 being formed by an axial slot allowing the enlargement of the mounting orifice 14 by deformation of said ring with opening of said slot, two interlocking means 25 being respectively provided on either side of said slot.
