Description

Title of the invention: Rear bumper of a motor vehicle, rear face comprising such a bumper and motor vehicle comprising such a rear face Technical field

[0001] The invention relates to the field of motor vehicles, in particular to the field of the rear bumper of the motor vehicle.

[0002] The invention relates more particularly to a bumper for the rear face of a motor vehicle, a rear face comprising such a bumper and a motor vehicle comprising such a rear face. Prior art

[0003] The mounting of a reversing camera in a motor vehicle is carried out by means of an interface part arranged between the reversing camera and the motor vehicle.

[0004] To do this, in a known embodiment of the prior art, the interface part is fixed to the rear bumper, on the outer skin of the bumper.

[0005] The interface part consists of a trim strip and includes a cavity for receiving the reversing camera.

[0006] The rear view camera is held in position in the receiving cavity of the trim strip attached to the bumper skin by means of a camera support mounted inside the bumper and sandwiching the rear view camera against the trim strip.

[0007] The presence of the interface part increases the mass of the vehicle as well as the cost.

[0008] Also, the step of mounting the interface part on the bumper as well as the mounting of the camera on the interface part is relatively complex and long to implement, which consequently increases the cost of carrying out this step. Presentation of the invention

[0009] The present invention aims to overcome the aforementioned drawbacks, and to do this relates to a bumper for the rear face of a motor vehicle, comprising an outer skin comprising an inner face visible from the inside of said bumper, remarkable in that said inner face of said outer skin comprises a cavity for receiving a reversing camera, said receiving cavity being shaped to receive a reversing camera and being made directly on said inner face of said outer skin.

[0010] Thus, by providing a bumper whose inner face of the outer skin comprises a receiving cavity, shaped to receive a reversing camera and practiced directly on the inner face of the outer skin, the reversing camera can now be mounted directly on the bumper, which eliminates the need to use an interface part arranged between the reversing camera and the bumper of the motor vehicle as is the case in the prior art.

[0011] In this way, the mass of the motor vehicle is reduced and the integration of the reversing camera in the rear bumper is simplified, which also makes it possible to limit the associated cost.

[0012] According to optional characteristics of the bumper according to the invention: - said inner face of said outer skin comprises a bridge system comprising at least two bridges for positioning and fixing a camera support arranged on either side of said cavity for receiving said reversing camera; - said at least two positioning and fixing bridges each comprise at least one positioning pin for said camera support and at least one fixing hole for said camera support; - said receiving cavity comprises at least one front stressing rib adapted to exert a compressive force on a front edge of said reversing camera when said reversing camera is mounted in said receiving cavity; - said receiving cavity comprises at least one lateral stressing rib adapted to exert a compressive force on a lateral edge of said reversing camera when said reversing camera is mounted in said receiving cavity; - said receiving cavity comprises at least one lower stressing rib adapted to exert a compressive force on a lower edge of said reversing camera when said reversing camera is mounted in said receiving cavity.

[0013] The invention also relates to a rear face of a motor vehicle, comprising a bumper, a reversing camera and a camera support, remarkable in that said bumper is according to the invention, in that said reversing camera is mounted in said receiving cavity of said bumper and in that said camera support is fixed on said bumper so that said reversing camera is mounted between said bumper and said camera support.

[0014] According to optional characteristics of the rear face according to the invention: - said camera support comprises, on the one hand, two fixing lugs, fixed on said positioning and fixing bridges of said bridge system, and, on the other hand, a front edge arranged in a cantilever relative to said fixing lugs; - said receiving cavity comprises an orifice for the passage of a lens of said rear view camera, and a lens of said rear view camera passes at least partially through said passage hole.

[0015] The invention also relates to a motor vehicle comprising a rear face, remarkable in that said rear face is according to the invention. Brief description of the drawings

[0016] Other characteristics, aims and advantages of the invention will appear on reading the detailed description which follows for the understanding of which reference will be made to the appended drawings in which:

[0021] [Fig.5] is an enlargement of zone II of [Fig. 1], seen from inside the bumper from a different viewing angle than [Fig.2].

[0022] [Fig.6] shows a first step of mounting the reversing camera in the bumper.

[0023] [Fig.7] shows a second step of mounting the rear view camera in the bumper.

[0024] [Fig.8] shows a third step of mounting the rear view camera in the bumper. Description of the embodiments

[0025] In the remainder of the description, elements having an identical structure or similar functions are designated by the same reference.

[0026] In the following, the terms “left”, “right”, “lower” and “upper” are understood in relation to the vehicle.

[0027] Similarly, the terms "front" and "rear" are understood in relation to the general orientation of the vehicle as taken in its normal direction of travel.

[0028] Reference is made to [Fig.l] which is a perspective view of a rear face 1 of a motor vehicle 3, seen from outside the motor vehicle 3.

[0029] The rear face 1 comprises, in particular, a bumper 5 comprising an outer skin 7, the function of which is mainly aesthetic.

[0030] Reference is made to Figures 2 and 3 showing an enlargement of zone II of [Fig.l] respectively seen from the outside of the bumper 5 and seen from the inside of the bumper 5.

[0031] The outer skin 7 of the bumper 5 comprises an inner face 9, visible from the inside of the bumper, i.e. not visible from the outside of the motor vehicle 3, and an outer face 11 visible from the outside of the motor vehicle 3.

[0032] According to the invention, the inner face 9 of the outer skin 7 comprises a receiving cavity 13 for a reversing camera 15, shaped to receive the reversing camera 15 and made directly on the inner face 9 of the outer skin 7.

[0033] Thus, thanks to the present invention, the reversing camera 15 can be mounted directly on the bumper 5 in the receiving cavity 13 of the outer skin 7.

[0034] This makes it possible to avoid the need to use an interface part arranged between the reversing camera 15 and the bumper 5 of the motor vehicle 3.

[0035] In this way, the mass of the motor vehicle 3 is reduced and the integration of the reversing camera 15 in the bumper 5 is simplified, which also makes it possible to limit the associated cost.

[0036] Seen from the outside of the motor vehicle 3, the receiving cavity 13 of the reversing camera 15 defines, at the level of the outer face 11 of the outer skin 7, a protuberance 17.

[0037] The receiving cavity 13, or protuberance 17, comprises a passage orifice 19 for a lens 21 of the reversing camera 15.

[0038] The rear view camera 15 is held in the receiving cavity 13 by means of a camera support 23 fixed to the bumper 5 of the rear face 1.

[0039] When the camera support 23 is fixed on the bumper 5, the reversing camera 15 is held between the camera support 23 and the bumper 5. When the reversing camera 15 is mounted on the bumper 5, the lens 21 of the reversing camera 15 passes at least partially through the passage orifice 19 made on the receiving cavity 13.

[0040] In the embodiment illustrated in the figures, the bumper 5 comprises a bridge system comprising two bridges 25, 27 for positioning and fixing the camera support 23, allowing the camera support 23 to be fixed to the bumper 5.

[0041] More positioning and fixing bridges can be arranged on the bumper 5 if necessary.

[0042] When two positioning and fixing bridges 25, 27 equip the bumper 5, the bridges 25, 27 are arranged on the inner face 9 of the outer skin 7, on either side of the receiving cavity 13 of the reversing camera 15.

[0043] In addition to the reference made to [Fig.3], reference is also made to [Fig.4] which is a view identical to that of [Fig.3], the camera support 23 being hidden.

[0044] The positioning and fixing bridges 25, 27 each comprise a positioning pin 29 for the camera support 23, or index, and an orifice 31 for fixing the camera mount 23.

[0045] In the embodiment illustrated in the figures, the positioning pins 29 are for example triangular in shape.

[0046] In order to position the reversing camera 15 as close as possible to a front bottom 33 of the receiving cavity 13, the camera support 23 comprises, on the one hand, two fixing lugs 35, 37 adapted to be fixed on the positioning and fixing bridges 25, 27 of the bridge system, and, on the other hand, a front edge 39 arranged in a cantilever relative to the fixing lugs 35, 37.

[0047] Thus, when the reversing camera 15 is mounted on the bumper 5, the reversing camera 15 is cantilevered relative to the positioning and fixing bridges 25, 27 of the bridge system.

[0048] In the exemplary embodiment illustrated in the figures, each of the fixing tabs 35, 37 of the camera support 23 defines an L shape extending from the front edge 39 of the camera support 23.

[0049] Each fixing lug 35, 37 comprises a fixing plate 41 adapted to bear against each of the positioning and fixing bridges 25, 27.

[0050] Each fixing plate 41 has a centering orifice 43, each being adapted to receive the positioning pins 29 present on the positioning and fixing bridges 25, 27 and allowing rapid positioning of the camera support 23 on the bumper 5.

[0051] Also, each fixing plate 41 comprises a fixing orifice 45, each being adapted to cooperate with the fixing orifices 31 present on the positioning and fixing bridges 25, 27 and making it possible to receive a fixing element (not shown), for example a fixing screw, of the camera support 23 on the bumper 5.

[0052] In the embodiment illustrated in the figures, the receiving cavity 13 comprises front stressing ribs 47 adapted to exert a compressive force on a front edge of the reversing camera 15 when the reversing camera 15 is mounted in the receiving cavity 13.

[0053] Thus, when the reversing camera 15 is mounted in the receiving cavity 13, the presence of the front ribs 47 allows good compression of the reversing camera 15 on the outer skin 7 of the bumper 5. In this way, the risk of vibration and detachment of the reversing camera 15 which could cause a defect in the image is limited.

[0054] In the embodiment illustrated in the figures, three front ribs 47 are made in the receiving cavity 13. The three front ribs 47 are arranged for example in a star shape, although other arrangements are possible.

[0055] The number of front ribs 47 can be modified if necessary. Also, in an embodiment not shown in the figures, the receiving cavity does not have any ribs Before.

[0056] In order to optimize the positioning of the camera as much as possible, the receiving cavity 13 may comprise lateral stressing ribs 49 adapted to exert a compressive force on a lateral edge of the reversing camera 15 when the reversing camera 15 is mounted in the receiving cavity 13.

[0057] In addition, the receiving cavity 13 may also comprise lower stressing ribs 51, adapted to exert a compressive force on a lower edge of the reversing camera 15 when the reversing camera 15 is mounted in the receiving cavity 13.

[0058] This makes it possible to wedge the reversing camera 15 laterally and from bottom to top when it is positioned in the bumper. In this way, the reversing camera 15 is forced towards the top of the receiving cavity 13, which makes it possible to position the lens 21 of the reversing camera 15 towards the top of the passage hole 19.

[0059] Reference is made to [Fig.5], showing an enlargement of zone II of [Fig.l], seen from inside the bumper from a different viewing angle than that of [Fig.2].

[0060] According to one arrangement, the length L defined between a plane Pi containing the fixing flats 41 of the fixing lugs 35, 37 of the camera support 23 and a plane P2 containing the front edge 39 of the camera support 23 is between approximately 30mm and approximately 40mm, for example approximately 35mm.

[0061] Reference is made to Figures 6 to 8 showing the steps of mounting the rear view camera 15 in the bumper 5.

[0062] The rear view camera 15 is fitted into the camera support 23.

[0063] For this purpose, the camera support 23 may comprise a set of slides 53 in lower part of the camera mount 23.

[0064] The assembly comprising the reversing camera 15 assembled on the camera support 23 is positioned on the bumper 5 by means of the bridges 25, 27 of the bridge system, then the camera support 23 is fixed on the bumper 5 by means of two fixing elements (not shown), each penetrating the fixing orifice 45 of the fixing lugs 35, 37 of the camera support 23 and the fixing orifice 31 present on the bridges 25, 27 of the bridge system of the bumper 5.

[0065] When the reversing camera 15 is in position in the receiving cavity 13, it is sandwiched between the camera support 23 and the inner face 9 of the outer skin 7 of the bumper 5 and the lens 21 of the reversing camera 15 passes at least partly through the passage orifice 19.

[0066] As goes without saying, the present invention is not limited to the sole embodiments of this bumper, of this rear face comprising such a bumper and of this motor vehicle comprising such a rear face, described above solely as illustrative examples, but on the contrary it embraces all the variants making intervene the technical equivalents of the means described as well as their combinations if these fall within the scope of the invention.
