Pharmaceutical composition of metformin for oral administration.

Abstract

A pharmaceutical composition of metformin for oral administration which comprises metformin or one of its pharmaceutical derivatives, preferably metformin hydrochloride in the form of either a) effervescent particles or effervescent powder wherein the particles or powder comprise i) isomaltitol and / or xylitol, and / or ii) one or more amino acids, preferably glycine or b) a potable solution comprising isomaltitol.

1. A pharmaceutical composition of metformin for oral administration which comprises metformin or one of its pharmaceutical derivatives, preferably hydrochloric metformin in the form of either a) effervescent particles or effervescent powder wherein the particles or powder comprise i) isomaltitol and / or xylitol, and / or ii) one or more amino acids, preferably glycine or b) a potable solution comprising isomaltitol.

2. A pharmaceutical composition according to claim 1 wherein the amount of metformin hydrochloride is 1 to 1000 mg per dose, preferably 100 mg or 500 mg or 750 mg or 850 mg or 1000 mg per dose.

3. Pharmaceutical composition according to any one of claims 1 to 2 which additionally comprises one or more excipients, preferably one or more diluents and / or one or more lubricants and / or one or more binders and / or one or more sweeteners and / or one or more taste-enhancing substances.

Pharmaceutical composition according to claim 3, wherein the taste-enhancing substance is preferably of a caffè-cap uccino and / or espresso and / or vanilla and / or honey and / or caramel taste, and / or mint, and / or eucalyptus and / or pineapple and / or lime, and / or lemon and / or orange, and / or mandarin and / or grape and or strawberries and / or red fruits and / or blackberries and / or red berries, and / or blueberries, and / or currants and / or cherries, and / or bananas.
